Special Report:

How God Blessed America on the National Day of Prayer!

" . . . being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace." (Ephesians 4:3)

The Mission of NDP

The Mission Statement of the National Day of Prayer:

The National Day of Prayer exists to mobilize unified public prayer for America.

The First Thursday of May

The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. Our Task Force is a privately funded organization whose purpose is to encourage participation on the National Day of Prayer. It exists to communicate with every individual the need for personal repentance and prayer, to create appropriate materials, and to mobilize the Christian community to intercede for America's leaders and its families. The Task Force represents a Judeo-Christian expression of the national observance, based on our understanding that this country was birthed in prayer and in reverence for the God of the Bible.

Note: The NDOP statement describes in their printed statement the following: "The Task Force represents a Judeo Christian expression, based on our understanding that this country was birthed in prayer and reverence for the God of the Bible."

2018 National Prayer

National Day of Prayer:

2018 National Prayer for America

Every year, the Honorary Chairman (now, the President) of the National Day of Prayer writes a National Prayer, to be proclaimed at every NDP observance throughout the land on the first Thursday in May.

Traditionally, this prayer is read at high noon in every time zone, in every state capital and in Washington, D.C. -- in alignment in timing and in decree.

How exciting!

A Call from our Pastors

"We Are Calling on America to Pray for America":

National Day of Prayer Leaders Urge Christians to Pray for Unity

This year's theme is unity in America, which Pastor Ronnie Floyd, president of the National Day of Prayer, says could not be more fitting for this particular moment in history.

"We live in a time that is so divided. Polarization is at an all-time high, and as followers of Christ, if we're Jesus followers, we need to lead the way in doing everything we can of walking in unity together," Floyd told CBN News.

Floyd maintains politics will not heal us and government will not fix us and that only a massive prayer movement can bring healing to our land.

"We are calling on America to pray for America," continued Floyd.

Floyd [led] the prayers for unity [on Thursday night] inside the Capitol alongside leaders like Priscilla Shirer, Congressman Mark Walker (R-NC) and Dr. James Dobson.

"If there ever was a time this nation needed prayer, it's now," said Dr. Dobson.

Pastor Frank Pomeroy and his wife, Sherri, of Sutherland Springs, Texas, were special guests at the event Thursday night. They talked about the power of prayer after a shooter walked into their church last November and killed 26 people, including their 14-year-old daughter.
"Pastor Frank is going to lead us in prayer for the churches and the schools and the public settings all across America, that God would put a shield of protection around them," said Floyd. "It will be a powerful, powerful moment."
And for the second year in a row, President Donald Trump hosted faith leaders in the Rose Garden to recognize the day dedicated to praying for our country.

"I think he's serious about it," commented Dobson. "Some people will say it's a political ploy of some sort. I know him and I don't believe it. I think it's in his heart."

. . . Floyd believes for unity to happen in our country, it must begin with Christians crying out to God and proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus. (Breaking Christian News) Read more.

A Presidential Proclamation

President Donald J. Trump Proclaims May 3 as a National Day of Prayer

On this National Day of Prayer, we join together to offer gratitude for our many blessings and to acknowledge our need for divine wisdom, guidance, and protection. Prayer, by which we affirm our dependence on God, has long been fundamental to our pursuit of freedom, peace, unity, and prosperity. Prayer sustains us and brings us comfort, hope, peace, and strength. Therefore, we must cherish our spiritual foundation and uphold our legacy of faith.

Prayer has been a source of guidance, strength, and wisdom since the founding of our Republic. When the Continental Congress gathered in Philadelphia to contemplate freedom from Great Britain, the delegates prayed daily for guidance. Their efforts produced the Declaration of Independence and its enumeration of the self-evident truths that we all cherish today. We believe that all men and women are created equal and endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Prayer sustained us and gave us the strength to endure the sacrifices and suffering of the American Revolution and to temper the triumph of victory with humility and gratitude. Notably, as one of its first acts, our newly formed Congress appointed chaplains of the House of Representatives and Senate so that all proceedings would begin with prayer.
As a Nation, we have continued to seek God in prayer, including in times of conflict and darkness. At the height of World War II, President Franklin D. Roosevelt called for prayer "for the vision to see our way clearly-to see the way that leads to a better life for ourselves and for all our fellow men-and to the achievement of His will to peace on earth." Decades later, following one of the darkest days in our Nation's history, President George W. Bush offered this prayer for our heartbroken country, mourning the precious souls who perished in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001: "We ask Almighty God to watch over our Nation, and grant us patience and resolve in all that is to come. We pray that He will comfort and console those who now walk in sorrow. We thank Him for each life we now must mourn, and the promise of a life to come."
America has known peace, prosperity, war, and depression-and prayer has sustained us through it all. May our Nation and our people never forget the love, grace, and goodness of our Maker, and may our praise and gratitude never cease. On this National Day of Prayer, let us come together, all according to their faiths, to thank God for His many blessings and ask for His continued guidance and strength.

In 1988, the Congress, by Public Law 100-307, as amended, called on the President to issue each year a proclamation designating the first Thursday in May as a National Day of Prayer, "on which the people of the United States may turn to God in prayer and meditation at churches, in groups, and as individuals."

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim May 3 as a National Day of Prayer. I encourage all Americans to observe this day, reflecting on the blessings our Nation has received and the importance of prayer, with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and activities in their houses of worship, communities, and places of work, schools, and homes.
N WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this third day of May, in the year of our Lord two thousand eighteen, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-second.

DONALD J. TRUMP

Executive Order Protects Religious Liberty

"I Will Always Protect Religious Liberty":

President Trump Signs Executive Order in Honor of National Day of Prayer

During the annual National Day of Prayer commemoration at the White House on Thursday, President Trump signed the latest executive order of his presidency, to establish a faith-based office, the White House Faith and Opportunity Initiative. He said it would focus on protecting religious freedom and ensuring that "the faith-based and community organizations that form the bedrock of our society have strong advocates in the White House and throughout the federal government."

"Prayer has always been at the center of the American life. America is a nation of believers, and together we are strengthened by the power of prayer," said Mr. Trump at the Rose Garden ceremony.

"As president, I will always protect religious liberty," Trump told faith leaders gathered in the White House Rose Garden. "Prayer has always been the center of American life. It's forged the identity and destiny of this great nation that we all love."

Vice President Mike Pence echoed that sentiment.

"The greatest words the president and I ever hear is, 'I'm praying for you,'" Pence said. "The American people believe in prayer."

Trump's faith initiative aims to allow people to exercise their beliefs freely and give faith-based organizations equal access to government funding.

The order calls for the executive branch to ensure "conscience protections" that grants people and institutions free reign "to practice their faith without fear of discrimination or retaliation by the federal government." Here's what it says:

"It shall be the policy of the executive branch to vigorously enforce Federal law's robust protections for religious freedom. The Founders envisioned a Nation in which religious voices and views were integral to a vibrant public square, and in which religious people and institutions were free to practice their faith without fear of discrimination or retaliation by the Federal Government."

It also directs the Treasury Department not to target churches or religious groups for speaking about political issues:

"In particular, the Secretary of the Treasury shall ensure, to the extent permitted by law, that the Department of the Treasury does not take any adverse action against any individual, house of worship, or other religious organization on the basis that such individual or organization speaks or has spoken about moral or political issues from a religious perspective, where speech of similar character has, consistent with law, not ordinarily been treated as participation or intervention in a political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) a candidate for public office by the Department of the Treasury."

Christian Leaders Respond:
Christian leaders are reacting positively to Trump's new White House plan to protect religious freedom and to work more closely with the faith community.

Evangelist Franklin Graham praised the move saying, "I'm extremely grateful that we have a president who realizes the importance of prayer, faith, and religious freedoms to our nation."

Johnnie Moore, an unofficial spokesman for the president's group of faith advisors, said it's "good for America" that President Trump has welcomed the faith community with open arms.

"This executive order is the product of the President's unwavering prioritization of faith and religious liberty and reflects the smart work of people like Jared Kushner and advisors in the policy and public liaison divisions who met with hundreds and hundreds of leaders and government officials to assess ways in which the government can partner more effectively with communities of faith," Moore said.

He also points out how important it is for there to be a faith-based liaison associated directly with the White House.

"Ordering every department of the federal government to work on faith-based partnerships-not just those with faith offices - represents a widespread expansion of a program that has historically done very effective work and now can do even greater work," Moore continued.

He says he'd like to see the White House faith-based effort focus on issues like prison reform, mental health issues, strengthening families, promoting education and meeting humanitarian needs. (Breaking Christian News) Read more.

- Father God, we recognize that the anointing that rested upon King Cyrus now rests upon our President, Donald Trump. We thank You for this miracle, and for all the blessings and equipping that this administration will now bring to the faith-based community. May Your hand of protection and favor rest upon President Trump, now and always, amen.
- O Lord, in Your strength the king will be glad,
And in Your salvation how greatly he will rejoice!

For You make him most blessed forever;
You make him joyful with gladness in Your presence.
(Psalm 21:1,6)
