TEN DAYS OF AWE

Focus on Israel

1. Israel seeking to block fresh Palestinian bid to join Interpol - Times of Israel

Israel is seeking to thwart the Palestinian Authority's latest bid to join the international law enforcement body Interpol over concerns it would leak sensitive information to Palestinian terror groups.

Interpol's General Assembly will convene for its annual meeting in China on Tuesday, where the international policing organization will vote on new members.

In an effort to disqualify the Palestinians, Israeli diplomats have been lobbying behind the scenes for stricter criteria for new members, as first reported last week by i24News.

2. Palestinian leader tries to put Trump on notice with warning - Israel Hayom

"If the two-state solution were to be destroyed . . . we will have no other choice but to demand full, equal rights in historic Palestine," PA President Mahmoud Abbas warns at U.N. * Officials say Abbas unlikely to follow through on threat.

Overshadowed by last week's showdown between the United States and North Korea, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas issued an ominous warning in his address to the United Nations: With hopes running out for an independent Palestinian state, the Palestinian leader said he may have no choice but to seek a single, binational state with Israel.

While Abbas appears to be in no hurry to disband his self-rule government, his threat raises an awkward scenario for Israel and the Trump administration that could potentially spell doom for the century-old Zionist enterprise.

3. Will Jordan waive demand to place Israeli guard on trial? - Israel National News

Jordan's King Abdullah has exhibited a tough stance regarding the investigation of the Israeli security official who killed two Jordanians in self-defense after being stabbed. Will the king remove his insistence on placing the security guard on trial?

The Jordanian news site Al-Durar and other media outlets report from senior sources in the Jordanian palace that the king will accept the results of the Israeli investigation of the security guard - whether or not an indictment is issued.

At present Jordan, is unwilling to allow the return of Israel's diplomatic delegation to Amman until the end of the investigation. Previously it had even demanded that Israel apologize for the incident but this demand has since been retracted. However, the king and other Jordanian officials have insisted that the investigation be completed before the Israeli diplomats return.

4. Hevron makes final preparations for festivity and prayer events - Israel National News

Hevron, the City of the Patriarchs, is busy preparing for upcoming major events, especially the Selichot events this week and the mammoth yearly event on the upcoming Sukkot holiday.

Yishai Fleisher, International Spokesman for the Jewish Community of Hevron said that "you come here, you see the sights, you see the history, you see the courage, you see the bravery; you see 3,800 years of Jewish history, 4,500 years of human history; you see Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, Sarah, Rebecca, and Leah; you see King David; you see Caleb, you see Otniel ben Kenaz; you see Herod, you see the Rambam visiting here. It just doesn't stop; the last 500 years, the Spanish Aliya; there's so much to talk about and see."

"We are at the height of preparations," says Asi Horowitz, Coordinator of Tourism and Events for the Jewish community in Hevron, with the installation of special equipment on the stage outside the Cave of the Patriarchs, "Every evening we see thousands of Jews visiting the Cave of the Patriarchs. We bring all the people of Israel to connect with Hevron. Of course, during the intermediate Chol HaMoed days of the festival there will be great performances for the entire family and tours to all the sites in Hevron."

5. Netanyahu Tells Cabinet Ministers: Trump Prepping Peace Plan, Determined to Make Progress- HAARETZ

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the weekly security cabinet meeting on Sunday that U.S. President Donald Trump is working on a peace plan aimed at an Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement. Netanyahu noted that his meeting with Trump impressed that the U.S. president is quite determined to advance his plan. Trump's envoy to the peace process, Jason Greenblatt, will arrive in Israel on Monday to continue talks with both sides.

During the cabinet meeting, Netanyahu briefed ministers on his recent trips to Latin America and the UN General Assembly, giving particular regard to his meeting with Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi.

"There's no doubt that the Palestinian topic is a heavy and important matter for Trump,"

Netanyahu said at the cabinet meeting, according to ministers present. "Trump conveyed his seriousness about this. The Americans are preparing a plan, and I presented our positions to the president. Trump is very determined and wants to reach the ultimate deal."

1. North Korea accuses U.S. of declaring war, says can take countermeasures - MSN

North Korea's foreign minister said on Monday that U.S. President Donald Trump had declared war on North Korea and that Pyongyang reserves the right to take countermeasures, including shooting down U.S. strategic bombers even if they are not in the country's air space.

"The whole world should clearly remember it was the U.S. who first declared war on our country," Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho told reporters in New York.

"Since the United States declared war on our country, we will have every right to make countermeasures, including the right to shoot down United States strategic bombers even when they are not inside the airspace border of our country." (Read more)

- Lord, this development shows how unstable and crazy the leadership of North Korea has become that they would think a Tweet is a declaration of war. We speak peace into this tension and in the Name of Jesus we ask that You step in and not allow anything that is not in Your plan and purpose.

- "And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie." (2 Thess 2:11)

2. Report: Hawaii Officials Are Preparing for Nuclear Attack- Newsmax

Hawaii officials last Tuesday held a secret meeting to discuss how to help the public prepare for a possible North Korea nuclear attack, the Honolulu Civil Beat reported.

"Now it's time to take it seriously," said state Rep. Gene Ward, "not to be an alarmist but to be informing people." Tensions between North Korea and the U.S. continue to escalate, with President Donald Trump last week threatening to "totally destroy North Korea."

North Korean foreign minister Ri Yong Ho on Saturday responded with a speech at the UN General Assembly where he said Pyongyang possesses a hydrogen bomb that can be coupled with an intercontinental ballistic missile and will be ready to use if needed. (Read more)

- Father, we pray against any nuclear action by North Korea. We ask for Your peace over Hawaii, and Your hedge of protection around them.

- "I will hear what God the Lord will speak, for He will speak peace." (Psalm 85:8)

3. FEMA to Conduct a Mandatory Nationwide Test Tomorrow - Alerts USA/FEMA

Be advised that FEMA and the FCC will conduct a mandatory nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) on Wednesday, September 27 at 2:20 p.m. EDT.

The test will assess the readiness for distribution of the national level test message as well as verify its delivery. (Read more)

- Father, we understand that this alert system will also allow the President to speak to the entire nation, as needed, at one time. Lord God, we pray that this strategy will not be needed, even as we pray for the successful outcome of this national test.

- "If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it." (John 14:14)

4. Iran's supposed missile launch was fake, US officials say - Fox News

Iranian state television released video footage Friday claiming to show the launch of a new type of medium-range ballistic missile, a few hours after it was displayed during a military parade in Tehran. But it turns out Iran never fired a ballistic missile, sources say. The video released by the Iranians was more than seven months old - dating back to a failed launch in late January, which resulted in the missile exploding shortly after liftoff, according to two U.S. officials.

President Trump had originally responded to the reported launch in a late-Saturday tweet, saying, "Iran just test-fired a Ballistic Missile capable of reaching Israel. They are also working with North Korea. Not much of an agreement we have!" This was after Trump, speaking before world leaders at the United Nations, called the Iran nuclear deal an "embarrassment" to the United States. "We cannot let a murderous regime continue these destabilizing activities while building dangerous missiles, and we cannot abide by an agreement if it provides cover for the eventual construction of a nuclear program," he said.

Trump later told reporters he had made up his mind about the deal, but wouldn't say whether he would pull the United States out of the nuclear accord with Iran. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, speaking at the U.N. one day after Trump, maintained his country's missile program was "solely defensive" in nature. "We never threaten anyone, but we do not tolerate threats from anyone," he said. Rohani returned to Tehran two days later to preside over the missile parade featuring the new medium-range design and said his country would build as many missiles as necessary to defend itself. Afterward, the footage was aired, with Iranian media claiming a successful test launch - though it apparently showed the failed January launch. (Read more)

- Father, this nation that chants "Death to America" at every opportunity is not worthy of our trust. We ask for a mighty move of the Holy Spirit across that nation and especially into their leadership.

- "Their sword shall enter their own heart, and their bows shall be broken."
(Psalm 37:15)

5. New Order Indefinitely Bars Almost All Travel From Seven Countries - NYT

President Trump on Sunday issued a new order indefinitely banning almost all travel to the United States from seven countries, including most of the nations covered by his original travel ban, citing threats to national security posed by letting their citizens into the country.

The new order is more far-reaching than the president's original travel ban, imposing permanent restrictions on travel, rather than the 90-day suspension that Mr. Trump authorized soon after taking office. But officials said his new action was the result of a deliberative, rigorous examination of security risks that was designed to avoid the chaotic rollout of his first ban. And the addition of non-Muslim countries could address the legal attacks on earlier travel restrictions as discrimination based on religion.(Read more)

- Lord, we pray that You will protect Americans from people coming into the country who intend to harm us. Preserve our nation and its heritage, Lord, and let Your Spirit cause us to return to You.

- "Teach me Your way, O Lord, and lead me n a smooth path, because of my enemies. Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries." (Psalm 27:11,12a)

6. Secret Service arrests person with firearms near White House - Fox News

The Secret Service says it arrested someone near the White House on Sunday for possessing firearms.

In a statement Monday, the agency says officers were approached by an individual at 17th Street NW and Pennsylvania Avenue at about 7:15 a.m. Sunday. The location is the Old Executive Office Building, part of the White House grounds.

The Secret Service says the person was arrested for possessing "several firearms." It provided no further details. (Read more)

- Lord, we continue to stand strong asking You to protect our President and our leadership. Though we don't know the circumstances of this incident, we know that their lives have been in danger.

- "My times are in Your hand; deliver me from the hand of my enemies."
(Psalm 31:15)

7. Graham, Cassidy pull out the stops in race to uproot ObamaCare - Fox News

Republicans' attempt this week to repeal and replace ObamaCare in the Senate is supposed to be their last shot.

Maybe.

The effort looks bleak right now as the Senate careens toward a Sept. 30 deadline to try to rip out the 2010 health care law and replace it with a plan engineered by GOP Sens. Lindsey Graham, South Carolina, and Bill Cassidy, Louisiana. They retooled their blueprint over the weekend by bolstering funding for Alaska and Maine to court the states' respective GOP senators, Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins, who each have expressed skepticism about the bill but aren't hard noes yet.

The legislation largely sends health care dollars to states as "block grants," permitting states to use the money as they see fit. It's doubtful the Senate will this week have a complete analysis of the legislation from the Congressional Budget Office. (Read more)

SEE ALSO: "Collins says no on ObamaCare repeal bill, effectively derailing Graham-Cassidy legislation" - Fox News (Go here)

- Father, with the defectors against it, this legislation is doomed short of a miracle. So now, we turn to YOU, Holy One, asking for that miracle, amen!

Lord, You promised to take care of the poor and the widows, so we call on Your Name to accomplish Your Word. We pray for all of the citizens of this nation to be saved from the high premiums and high deductibles that Obamacare has brought.

- "He raises the poor out of the dust, and lifts the needy out of the ash heap."
(Psalm 113:7)

8. Congress Fights Back Against UN's Anti-Israel Blacklist With 'Anti-Boycott Act' - Breaking Israel News

In response to United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) efforts to undermine Israel's legitimacy through their Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) Act of 2017, the U.S. Congress and Senate have introduced a bipartisan bill, the "Israel Anti-Boycott Act," that would protect U.S. companies targeted by the international boycotts and punish those who comply with them.

Earlier this March, the UNHRC voted in favor (32 nations in favor and 15 abstentions) of the BDS Act of 2017, which entails creating a "blacklist" of companies enabling or benefitting from the growth of Israeli settlements. Blacklisted companies under the BDS Act of 2017, the full list of which will be published this December, include major American corporations like Coca-Cola, Teva Pharmaceuticals, Airbnb, and TripAdvisor.

The UN blacklist treads in the footsteps of the broader BDS movement, which was established in 2005 in an attempt to economically undermine Israel's sovereignty. The stated goal of the BDS movement, according to its founders, is to "end international support for Israel's oppression of Palestinians and pressure Israel to comply with international law." (Read more)

- Lord, we thank You for this bipartisan bill and ask that it be implemented to protect companies that do business with Israel. We take authority over this Haman spirit in the UN and loose Your Spirit and the Blood of Jesus Christ against it. May it fall, as Haman fell.

- "Evil shall slay the wicked, and those who hate the righteous shall be condemned." (Psalm 34:21)

9. New DACA bill proposed by Republicans - CBS

Republican Senators Thom Tillis, James Lankford and Orrin Hatch unveiled their latest immigration reform effort, a first step toward fixing the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program which the Trump administration recently announced it was rescinding. The three senators announced the SUCCEED Act (Solution for Undocumented Children through Careers Employment Education and Defending our nation), which they called a "fair and compassionate" merit-based solution to issues facing undocumented children currently in the U.S.

"If you work hard, follow the law and pay your taxes, you can stay here permanently," Sen. Tillis promised Dreamers.

The proposed legislation mandates that in order to receive "conditional status" in the U.S., a recipient must be maintaining gainful employment, pursuing higher education or serving in the U.S. military. Under the bill, eligibility for protective status includes having arrived in the U.S. before the age of 16 years, holding a high school diploma or equivalent, passing an extensive criminal background check, submitting biometric data to the Department of Homeland Security and being able to pay off any existing federal tax liabilities. (Read more)

- Father, we ask for Your heart in this issue. The previous President illegally created a law that should have been created by Congress, hence this "fix." We ask that in Your wisdom, only that which You have ordained be passed.

- "So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it." (Isaiah 55:11)

10. Anthony Weiner sentenced to 21 months in prison in teen sexting case - Fox News

Disgraced former Rep. Anthony Weiner was sentenced Monday to 21 months in prison, facing the most severe penalty yet in connection with the sexting scandal that drove the New York Democrat out of Congress, ruined his marriage and became a late issue in the 2016 presidential race.

U.S. District Judge Denise L. Cote issued the sentence in federal court in New York. "This is a serious crime that deserves serious punishment," Cote said in a statement. The former lawmaker's sexting habits entered criminal territory with his illicit contact with a 15-year-old girl. Weiner, 53, had pleaded guilty in May to sending sexually explicit texts to the girl across state lines. Weiner agreed not to appeal any sentence between 21 and 27 months in prison.

Weiner openly wept in court on Monday as the judge announced the sentence. In addition to the prison term, he was sentenced to three years of supervised release, given a $10,000 fine, and required to forfeit his iPhone. Weiner must surrender on Nov. 6 to a yet-to-be determined prison facility. (Read more)

- Lord, we pray that You will use this situation to change this man's heart from sin to righteousness. We also pray for the young girl involved to come to know You as her Lord and Savior.

- "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you." (Ezekiel 36:26a)

11. Pence, Bannon, Robertson stump in Alabama for Senate candidates - Fox News

Across Alabama on Monday night, Vice President Mike Pence, Steve Bannon and Phil Robertson, of Duck Dynasty, were all seen on stage stumping for the two candidates running in Alabama's runoff election on Tuesday.

Vice President Pence took the stage in Birmingham supporting incumbent Sen. Luther Strange, while Steve Bannon and Phil Robertson rallied in Fairhope for former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore.

After walking on stage, Pence echoed President Trump's sentiments from Friday, saying how much he loved the state of Alabama and how much they needed the peoples' help to send Strange back to the U.S. Senate. (Read more)

- Father, we ask that You would grant the voters in the State of Louisiana "eyes to see" and "ears to hear" Your will in the selection of their next United States Senator. In Your name, amen.

- "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches." (Rev. 3:22)

The end of the world didn't come

In the past several weeks, predictions of the end of the world have been coming into my inbox. Several Christians were predicting the Rapture and others were talking about a planet colliding with the earth, ending it all. The specific date for some was Saturday, September 23. Since we are all still here, some are moving that date to September 29. Certainly, these predictions and many like them are a lot like what Jesus said in Matthew 24:11, "And many false prophets shall arise, and shall deceive many." The "many" are deceived because they are relying on man's interpretation of isolated scriptures rather than making the effort to read and study the Bible in its context.

Fact is, if people read their scriptures in context, they would have a good idea of what to expect regarding the prophetic future. Unfortunately, there are many, many false teachers who take verses out of context to support their theories. Also unfortunate is that many are well-respected for these falsehoods. These same false teachers come up with excuse after excuse about why what they predicted didn't happen. Many times they use a convoluted and completely out of context "Bible" study to explain why they missed the mark, and to predict the next event, which doesn't happen either. People will believe them and all will go on until the next time. And the cycle will start all over again.

It is always best to go to your Bible and read the context about these contemporary predictions. By context, I mean ALL the verses related to the event-not single verses that can be twisted to fit the imagination, but the chapters before them and after them, and what the Biblical prophets said in them. For example, In Matthew 24, Jesus, responding to his disciples' direct question about his return and the end of the age, gives the most complete step-by-step chronology of the events that will occur in the end of times. His explanation is supported in Daniel, Revelation, 1 and 2 Thessalonians, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Joel, Ezekiel and others. Putting specific dates on the Rapture or on the end of the world makes a liar-of either the Holy Scriptures or those making the false predictions. The Holy Scriptures are not lies.

Ephesians 4:14 exhorts, "That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive." We don't want to be that person who is just seeking the latest craze in Christianity. We want to be grounded in the Word of God and have understanding that we may edify others and provide truth in love. Let's not fall for the extra-Biblical seducers. Let us seek the Lord with all of our heart having understanding of his Word and Holy Spirit discernment that we might not be led astray, and that we may provide proof of our testimony to others.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Tax Compromise?

Tax Compromise?

Details are slowly beginning to emerge about a possible tax reform plan. President Trump is expected to deliver a speech Wednesday promoting the plan. Here's what we understand are the broad outlines as of now:

- The seven existing tax brackets would be reduced to three, with the top tax rate falling from 39.6% to 35%. The other rates are not yet known.

- The corporate tax rate would be lowered from 35% to 20%, while the tax rate on many small businesses would be reduced to 25%.

- The standard deduction is expected to double, a big help to working and middle class families. But just like healthcare reform, there are some Republicans who want less or more, and they could turn this potential victory into a defeat. Let's hope they learn how to be team players. (Gary Bauer)

End Obamacare Now!

End Obamacare Now!

Time is running out for Congress to repeal Obamacare and defund Planned Parenthood with only 51 votes! The health care reform legislation offered by Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Bill Cassidy (R-La.) is now the GOP's last chance to fulfill their promises to repeal and replace Obamacare before the September 30 deadline for a 2017 budget reconciliation bill which allows passage with only 51 votes.

The pro-life majority controls both chambers of Congress and the White House, with President Trump eager to sign the Graham-Cassidy bill into law. The GOP is without excuse.
The Graham-Cassidy bill restores the principle of the Hyde Amendment that abortion is not health care and should not be subsidized -- a principle Obamacare went around. The Graham-Cassidy bill would repeal Obamacare's wasteful spending, including its massive abortion subsidies, as well as repeal its individual and employer mandate penalties. It would also replace Obamacare with block grants so that states can create state programs to provide health insurance free from Obamacare's burdensome regulations. The good news is these state block grants would not subsidize abortion!
The Graham-Cassidy bill also would defund the lion's share of federal funding for Planned Parenthood! The tragedy of Planned Parenthood's shady abortion business is compounded every day that passes with Congress' inaction to redirect its massive taxpayer funding toward better, more comprehensive health care alternatives.
Please call your two U.S. Senators at (202) 224-3121 to urge them to support the Graham-Cassidy bill to repeal and replace Obamacare, stop taxpayer funding of abortion, and end the forced partnership between taxpayers and Planned Parenthood.
After you've called, you can also email them by following this link. Time is running out, and senators need to hear your voice!
Standing (Eph. 6:13),

Classic Hymns

O JESUS, I HAVE PROMISED

"I have promised to obey Your words." (Psalm 119:57)

Lyrics
O Jesus, I have promised to serve Thee to the end; Be Thou forever near me, my Master and my Friend; I shall not fear the battle if Thou art by my side, Nor wander from the pathway if Thou wilt be my Guide.

O let me feel Thee near me! The world is ever near; I see the sights that dazzle, the tempting sounds I hear; My foes are ever near me, around me and within; But Jesus, draw Thou nearer, and shield my soul from sin.

O let me hear Thee speaking in accents clear and still, Above the storms of passion, the murmurs of self will. O speak to reassure me, to hasten or control; O speak, and make me listen, Thou Guardian of my soul.

O Jesus, Thou hast promised to all who follow Thee That where Thou art in glory there shall Thy servant be. And Jesus, I have promised to serve Thee to the end; O give me grace to follow, my Master and my Friend.

O let me see Thy footprints, and in them plant mine own; My hope to follow duly is in Thy strength alone. O guide me, call me, draw me, uphold me to the end; And then in Heaven receive me, my Savior and my Friend.

Officials plead for swift aid to Puerto Rico to prevent 'humanitarian crisis'

Hurricane Maria whipped Puerto Rico with Irma-level winds, drenched the island with Harvey-level flooding, crippled communications, decimated buildings and damaged a dam that puts downstream residents at risk of catastrophe. Yet help has been slow to come, officials and residents argue.

"This is a game changer," Governor Ricardo Rosselló told CNN Monday. "We need to prevent a humanitarian crisis occurring in America." Rosselló urged Congress to approve a commensurate aid package as the US territory, already hammered by a prolonged economic crisis, tries to get back on its feet.

Some residents described the devastation in their communities as "apocalyptic." (CNN) Read more.

Christians in Nepal Sentenced to Prison for Praying for Ill Woman are Released

Four Christians in Nepal sentenced to five years in prison on false charges of "witchcraft" and "violence" were released today after a high court annulled their convictions, church leaders said.

Lali Pun, Bimkali Budha, Suk Lal Pariyar and Ganga Pariyar had been accused in Salyan District Court on May 19, 2016 for praying for a mentally troubled woman, Seti Pariyar, according to the Federation of National Christian Nepal (FNCN). On Dec. 19, 2016 they were convicted of witchcraft, violence and holding Seti Pariyar against her will, though the woman testified that she was not mistreated or captive and had been healed by the prayer.

Besides the prison sentences, the Christians had been told to pay a fine of 50,000 Nepalese rupees (US$475), an overwhelming sum in Nepal. A fifth Christian, Rupa Thapa, was arrested with them but was declared not guilty and released in 2016.

"FNCN would like to thank Higher Court, Surkhet for setting free our innocent people," said FNCN co-general secretary Sagar Baizu in the statement. "We would also like to inform you all that the FNCN has already arranged the shelter and other things for the victimized people and education for their children."
