Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision . . . (Joel 3:14)

The Daily Brief

1. Obama: Framework deal on Iran nuclear program 'best option' for Israel - Jerusalem Post

US President Barack Obama on Thursday said a framework agreement reached at talks on Iran's nuclear program is "a good deal" that would, if fully implemented, prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

"Today, the United States, together with our allies and partners, has reached an historic understanding with Iran, which if fully implemented, will prevent it from obtaining a nuclear weapon," Obama said in statement at the White House. "If this framework leads to a final comprehensive deal, it will make our country, our allies and our world safer," he said. "It is a good deal," Obama added. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, what is being said here contradicts other reports of what Iran is doing. It has been reported that Iranian nuclear supplies have been shared with North Korea to be transformed into nuclear weapons and that Iran is also refusing to be monitored and checked. Help us, Father, as this is an extremely dangerous "agreement." Your special land and people are greatly endangered by this as well as the rest of the world. We ask that You rise up and cause all of these plots and schemes to be shattered into nothingness, asking this in Jesus' Name and under His Shed Blood, Amen and Amen.

- "O God, how long will the adversary reproach? Will the enemy blaspheme Your name forever?" (Psalm 74:10 NKJV)

2. Netanyahu to Obama: Iran deal threatens Israel's survival - Times of Israel

Netanyahu tells president agreement based on new framework would 'legitimize Iran's nuclear program, strengthen Iran's economy, increase its aggression and terror activities.' A nuclear deal with Iran based on the political framework reached in Switzerland between Tehran and the P5+1 world earlier Thursday "threatens the survival of the State of Israel," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told US President Barack Obama during a phone call to discuss the accord.

Obama phoned Netanyahu hours after the framework was struck. Netanyahu has been strongly opposed to the emerging deal, arguing that it does not have the necessary safeguards and will pave the way to a nuclear Iran."This deal threatens the survival of the State of Israel. Just two days ago, Iran said that the annihilation of Israel was nonnegotiable. This deal legitimizes Iran's nuclear program, it will strengthen Iran's economy and increase its aggressiveness and terror activities in the region and beyond. This deal will not block Iran's path to the bomb; this deal paves the way to it," Netanyahu was reported to have told Obama during the call. (Read more)

Abba Father, we lift up praise for PM Netanyahu's discernment of the intense danger of this Iranian agreement. Father, help us and the rest of the world by confronting our national leadership in their hours of rest so that they will understand how this deal endangers all of us and is truly a sham. We pray this in the Name of Jesus and under His Shed Blood, Amen and Amen.

- "Redeem Israel, O God, out of all their troubles!" (Psalm 25:22 NKJV)

3. Republicans uneasy over Iran nuke 'deal,' lawmakers demand say on any final agreement - Fox News

The highly touted "framework" for an Iranian nuclear deal, announced Thursday following days of intense negotiations, is being met with mixed reviews on Capitol Hill -- as Republicans voice skepticism and lawmakers on both sides of the aisle reprise demands that Congress have a say.

President Obama, who pitched the framework as "historic," said he would speak with House and Senate leaders -- he already has spoken briefly with Speaker John Boehner, Fox News has learned. Obama, in the Rose Garden, said the issue is "bigger than politics" and warned that if Congress killed a deal without a reasonable alternative, the United States would be blamed for the failure of diplomacy. He called it a "good deal."

But Boehner, within hours of the announcement, warned that the "parameters" represented an "alarming departure" from initial U.S. goals. In a statement, Boehner said his "immediate concern is the administration signaling it will provide near-term sanctions relief," referring to a provision calling for U.S. and E.U. sanctions relief once inspectors verify Iran's progress toward the nuclear-related steps of the deal. "Congress must be allowed to fully review the details of any agreement before any sanctions are lifted," Boehner said. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, we lift up praise that John Boehner is speaking up about how the initial goals of these negotiations appear to have been dropped, leaving only an agreement to remove the sanctions that had been placed upon Iran. He points out that the US Constitution requires that both parties in Congress demand that any agreement must be fully reviewed and approved by Congress before going into effect. We ask Lord that You raise up Your right hand and extend it over these congressional actions, so that Your will shall be done for our nation. We ask this in Jesus' Name and under His Shed Blood, Amen and Amen.

- "Blessed is he who blesses you, and cursed is he who curses you." (Numbers 24:9b NKJV)

4. John Boehner in Israel: 'The world is on fire' - Newsmax

John Boehner thinks the "world is on fire." And America isn't doing nearly enough to stamp it out. The House speaker's decision to invite Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to speak before Congress last month sparked criticism that Boehner was inappropriately injecting himself into foreign affairs and antagonizing President Barack Obama. But just hours after a friendly return visit with Netanyahu on Wednesday, Boehner made clear in an interview with POLITICO here he's not backing down and will remain firmly engaged in the nation's foreign policy.

"I wouldn't have believed that I would be involved in as much foreign policy as I am today," Boehner said in his hotel near Jerusalem's Old City. "And it certainly isn't by choice. It's just that the world is on fire. And I don't think enough Americans or enough people in the administration understand how serious the problems that we're facing in the world are." (Read more)

- Abba Father, we lift up praise and thanks that Speaker John Boehner has 'awakened' to the dangerous events that are swirling around upon the earth, and that he is rising up to respond and act to counter what is happening. We ask that You draw him close and download Your discernment and wisdom into him, so that he may be an 'instrument' for Your plans. We pray this in Jesus' Name, Amen and Amen.

- "For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and He ponders all his paths." (Proverbs 5:21 NKJV)

5. Obama Adviser on Iran Worked for Pro-Regime Lobby - Breitbart

The White House released a list of its high-ranking officials who took part in a video conference with President Obama late Tuesday. Among them appears Sahar Nowrouzzadeh, who apparently has formerly worked for the National Iranian-American Council. The White House brief, which was disclosed by The Daily Beast, listed Sahar Nowrouzzadeh as the National Security Council Director for Iran. Nowrouzzadeh appears to be a former employee of the alleged pro-Tehran regime lobbying group, NIAC (National Iranian-American Council). (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, we fall before You in repentance that our executive leadership has appointed Sahar Nowrouzzadeh as the National Security Council Director for Iran, who appears to be a former employee of the alleged pro-Tehran regime lobbying group, NIAC (National Iranian-American Council). This is an extremely dangerous action. Help us, Father, and have mercy upon Your people and Your remnant that are living here under this kind of leadership. We pray that all lies, plots and schemes that this person may have encouraged be exposed for all to see. We pray this in the Name of Jesus and under His Shed Blood, Amen and Amen.

- "A man will be commended according to his wisdom, but he who is of a perverse heart will be despised." (Proverbs 12:8 NKJV)

6. Two New York City women arrested in alleged bomb plot - CS Monitor

Two New York City women have been arrested in an alleged conspiracy to build a bomb and wage a "terrorist attack" in the United States, according to a federal criminal complaint made public on Thursday. Noelle Velentzas, 28, and Asia Siddiqui, 31, devised a plot to target police, government or military targets based on their "violent jihadist beliefs," according to the complaint filed in US District Court in Brooklyn.

The two women, who were roommates in the New York City borough of Queens, conducted extensive research on how to build an explosive device and plotted to attack such targets as a military base or a police funeral, the complaint stated. (Read more)

- Thank You, Lord, that these women were apprehended. Amen.

- "Praise ye the Lord." (Psalm 150:6)

7. Survivor of Kenya college attack says gunmen had scouted campus - Fox News

GARISSA, Kenya - The militants who slaughtered 147 people in a Kenyan school appeared to have planned extensively, even targeting a site where Christians had gone to pray, a survivor said Friday.

Police on Friday were at the campus of Garissa University College, taking fingerprints from the bodies of the four assailants and of the students and security officials who died, for thorough identification purposes. The northeastern Kenyan town lacks the facilities to store all those bodies. In Nairobi, Kenya's capital, family members were lining up at a morgue where about 20 bodies had already been airlifted from Garissa.

One of the first things that the assailants did early Thursday, survivor Helen Titus said, was to head for a lecture hall where Christians were in early morning prayer.

"They investigated our area. They knew everything," Helen Titus told The Associated Press at a hospital in Garissa where she was being treated for a bullet wound to the wrist. Titus, , a 21-year-old English literature student, said she covered her face and hair with the blood of classmates and lay still at one point during al-Shabab's deadliest attack on Kenyan soil in hopes the Islamic extremist gunmen would think she was dead. (Read more)

- Lord God, on this Good Friday, just as we remember Him Who poured out His very lifeblood for us, we remember these young martyrs, who also gave their very lives rather than to deny the Cross. We call them holy, in Jesus' name, amen and amen.

- "When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained." (Revelation 6:9)

8. Religious liberty isn't 'fringe view,' Cruz says in Iowa - Dallas News

SIOUX CITY, Iowa - Sen. Ted Cruz, culture warrior, kept a tight focus on social issues Wednesday during his first Iowa visit as a presidential candidate. He warned of a "partisan desire to mandate gay marriage everywhere in this country." As for the Supreme Court, he said, a ruling to legalize gay marriage would be "fundamentally illegitimate."

"Religious liberty is not some fringe view. It is the basis of this country," the Texas senator said during an hourlong visit to Morningside College in Sioux City, in the state's evangelical northwest corner. (Read more)

- Thank You, Lord, for giving us Ted Cruz -- a man and a leader who will not fear to speak the truth in our present day. We thank You, too, for many other leaders who are also doing the same. We ask for Your hand of blessing and protection to rest upon each of these wonderful leaders, now and always, in Jesus' name, amen and amen.

- "And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:20)

9. Iraqi forces recapture 'booby trapped' city of Tikrit from Islamic State militants - DNA (India)

Iraqi forces, aided by Shiite militiamen, have recaptured the northern city of Tikrit from Islamic State (IS) militants but they have found vehicles laden with explosives and the buildings that might be "booby trapped".

Iraqi forces, aided by Shiite militiamen, have recaptured the northern city of Tikrit from Islamic State (IS) militants but they have found vehicles laden with explosives and the buildings that might be "booby trapped".

According to CNN, Iraqi forces had to disarm a large mechanical digger in Tikrit as it was packed with explosives. The troops in the city had to be extremely cautious while entering buildings as they were could have been wired and plumes of smoke rose from burning buildings in the background. Officials are concerned about the behavior of the Iranian-backed Shiite militiamen and fear that they might take "scorched earth" reprisals for the reported massacre of Shiite air force cadets by IS fighters last year in Tikrit. (Read more)

- Father, we are so encouraged by this report. We ask You to continue to grant Your strength, Your courage, and Your boldness to those who are fighting the ISIS terrorists now in hand-to-hand combat. Be with them, Lord, we pray. Amen.

- So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10)

1. Hamas attempting to split loyalty between regional rivals Iran, Saudi Arabia - Jerusalem Post

Hamas is attempting to divide its loyalty between the rival regional powers, Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Hamas sides with Iran against the US on negotiations over Iran's nuclear program, but sides with Saudi Arabia against Iran on the Shi'ite Houthi attempts to take over Yemen.

"An agreement [on Iran's nuclear program] would be in Hamas's favor, since Hamas [already] has strong ties with Iran, and this agreement would improve its relationship with Americans," Mahmoud al-Zahar, a senior Hamas official in the Gaza Strip told The Media Line.

5. Israel Not Expected to Attack Iran - For Now - Israel National News

Israel has warned relentlessly against a nuclear deal with Iran, but experts say Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's options are limited and immediate military action is unlikely.

Netanyahu slammed Thursday's announcement by US President Barack Obama on the framework of a deal allowing the Islamic regime to continue enriching uranium at limited amounts, saying that if implemented it would jeopardize the Jewish state's very existence.

"In return for Iran's future cooperation, we and our international partners will provide relief in phases from the sanctions that have impacted Iran's economy," Secretary of State John Kerry said Thursday, after the announcement that a deal had been reached. "And if we find at any point that Iran is not complying with this agreement, the sanctions can snap back into place," he added.

6. Ankara: 'No One in Turkey is Anti-Semitic' - Israel National News

Allegations that Ankara is anti-Semitic are unfounded, Deputy Prime Minister Bülent Arinç claimed Thursday - saying instead that the many instances of hate speech or riots against Jews or Israel are "reactions" to the Israeli government.

"No one in Turkey is anti-Semitic," Arinç stated in a Channel 2 interview. "Most of the Turkish people strongly react against the Israeli government."

He added that if Jerusalem wants to improve its relationship with Anakara, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu must declare intent for peace with Palestinian Arabs and remove import, export, and travel restrictions on Hamas-controlled Gaza.

7. New documentary asserts Hamas has taken over UNRWA - Jerusalem Online

Utilizing children under the age of 15 as soldiers is a war crime according to the International Criminal Court at The Hague and is a clear human rights violation that goes contrary to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. However, a new documentary produced by the Center for Near East Policy Research titled Children's Army of Hamas shows that Hamas is doing just that. In the firm, it is noted that 17,000 minors have been reportedly drafted from UNRWA schools in order to become Hamas terrorists. They are taught by Hamas how to use lethal weapons in special camps.

As one youngster stated in the video, "We're being trained to be warriors to fight the evil Israeli presence. In this military camp, we studied jihad, determination, to trust Allah and other Islamic values." Another Hamas child terrorist declared, "We learned weapons training and joined the War Games camp to end the Zionist aggression." Still yet another child emphasized, "I was trained to be a warrior to liberate my land." While a great many of the children in the video appear to be teenagers, others look much younger, like around elementary school age.

12. ALERT!! 'Anonymous' hackers threaten Israel with cyber-terrorism - Jerusalem Post

A group of anti-Israel hackers calling themselves "Anonymous Operation Israel" has called on "cyber warriors from across the planet" to attack Israel online on April 7th.

"On April 7, 2014, we call upon our brothers and sisters to hack, deface, hijack, database leak, admin takeover, and DNS terminate the Israeli Cyberspace by any means necessary," the group said in a YouTube video posted on April 2.

It is not the group's first foray into cyber warfare against the Jewish State. On the same date last year, Anonymous attempted to disrupt Israeli websites, including that of Yad Vashem, the Prime Minister's Office, and the Israel Defense Forces website, with limited success.

"As of midday, Israeli government websites are accessible to the public, as they were for the entire weekend," the Finance Ministry reported at the time. (Read more)

- Abba Father God, we cry out to You, O Lord, to stay the hand of this enemy of Israel and to destroy their plans to launch a cyberattack on the land next week. Lord God, these men and women may be "anonymous" to men, but they are NOT "anonymous" to You . . . and You know who is hiding behind those masks. Lord God, invade their lives with Your Glory, and cause each one to come to repentance unto salvation. We call forth whistleblowers in the camp of the wicked who will foil these plots, in Jesus' name, amen and amen.

Liars lying, deceivers deceiving

The US "president" has announced a deal to allow Iran to continue its nuclear program. Essentially, it is a deal that the "president" is trying to spin as a reasonable approach to keep Iran from having nuclear weapons, when in reality it is Iran's path to nuclear weapons. Already, the liars are lying and the deceivers are deceiving. The "president" said it was "an historic understanding with Iran, which, if fully implemented" will prevent Iran from having nuclear weapons. Trouble is, Iran's leadership doesn't see it that way. Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif told a news conference that the US had agreed to allow Iran to continue the enrichment of uranium. He essentially called the "president" a liar.

The cat and mouse game that began in the early 2000s with Iran continues. One side says they have a deal and outlines the specifics and Iran comes back and says that is not what it agreed to at all. So who's lying? Both are. The US "president" is lying to the American public about any kind of deal that would prevent Iran from having a nuclear weapon. From Congress to the Prime Minister of the nation this deal affects most, Israel, all say it will not do what the "president" says it will. You do not even have to look at the details of the deal because anything that would lift sanctions on Iran and not require that Iran have nothing to do with uranium, will not prevent Iran from having a nuclear bomb if it so desires.

The Iranians/Persians have been incredible negotiators throughout history. Sending a lightweight like Secretary of State John Kerry to negotiate a deal on behalf of America or Israel is indeed sending a pocket knife to quell a fight against warriors with weapons--the knife is no good, has no intelligence, until someone directs it, and then it is out manned. The saddest thing, however, is that the US "president" is so enamored with Iran and all things Muslim that he appears to have no qualms about selling out the stability and peace of the rest of the world to give his Islamic buddies a leg up in the balance of power. A traitor has many ways to spin deceit and we are witnessing a historical spin of a future death spiral.

Fortunately for America, there are checks and balances. The Congress has a say. Whether it uses that authority is still in question. The "president" has placed us all in grave danger with this deal and his defiance to listen to reason--even from members of his own party who see this as a bad deal. Proverbs 12:20 says, "Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil." As in Jeremiah 9, we live in the midst of deceit as our leaders and the leaders of our enemies "bend their tongues like their bow for lies; but they are not valiant for the truth upon the earth; for they proceed from evil to evil" because they do not know the Lord. Our Lord and Savior says of these times "Take heed that no man deceive you." Pray, act, stand.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

To Be Continued

To Be Continued

Negotiators in Switzerland have reached an agreement for this phase of the Iranian nuclear talks. It likely has as many holes as a piece of Swiss cheese.

Earlier today the Associated Press reported: "Western officials say that Iran and the United States have agreed on the outlines of an understanding that would open the path to a final phase of nuclear negotiations."

So, just to be clear, we've got "outlines" of an "understanding" to a "path" that leads to a "phase." Got it?

Moments ago, Barack Obama walked out on to the White House lawn and delivered his best Neville Chamberlain impersonation, all but declaring "Peace in our time." Obama declared that this was a "good deal" and our "best option."

Let's be clear about something: Obama does not have a deal. All he has is an agreement that the Iranians will continue talking. The new deadline for a final deal is June 30th. This is the third or fourth change of deadlines.

A Fox News poll released yesterday found that 55% of voters believe we cannot trust the Iranians. They don't have much trust in Obama either: 58% disapprove of the way Obama is handling relations with Iran (a record high disapproval rating on that issue), and 76% of voters believe the president should be required to get congressional approval for any deal he makes with Iran. Update from Arkansas

Hutchinson Won't Sign Religious Freedom Bill without Changes

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee wondered why "there were no protests when President Clinton signed similar federal legislation in 1993."

Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson says he will not sign a controversial religious freedom measure, at least not in its current form. Like the new Indiana law, the Arkansas law would allow religious objectors like Christian wedding vendors to defend their conscience rights in court. "I ask that changes be made in the legislature, and I've asked that the leaders of the General Assembly recall the bill so that it can be amended to reflect the terms of the federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act," said Hutchinson, who had initially supported the bill.
The governor's decision comes amid criticism from left-wing opponents who view the legislation as nothing more than a vehicle for discrimination. But Indiana's Gov. Mike Pence pushed back against that view in a Tuesday press conference. "The Religious Freedom Act doesn't give anyone the right to deny services - it is simply a balancing test," he said. Pence acknowledged that many don't see the new law this way. Consequently, he called for new legislation that would make clear that Hoosier businesses do not have a blanket right to refuse service.
Other states are also considering religious freedom restoration acts of their own. They include Texas, Georgia, and North Carolina. . . (CBN) Read more here.

Framework Agreement Struck with Iran

Framework Agreement Struck with Iran

Friday, 3 April 2015 | Editor's Note: Yesterday afternoon, President Obama and the European Union issued statements announcing success in construction of a framework for a 30 June 2015 agreement with Iran regarding its nuclear program. Afterward, the US president and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu spoke by phone. Netanyahu's office reports that he "expressed Israel's strong opposition to the framework agreement."

Netanyahu's exact words to Obama were that "a deal based on this framework would threaten the survival of Israel.

"Just two days ago," Netanyahu reminded Obama, "Iran said that 'The destruction of Israel is non-negotiable,' and in these fateful days Iran is accelerating the arming of its terror proxies to attack Israel.

"This deal would legitimize Iran's nuclear program, bolster Iran's economy, and increase Iran's aggression and terror throughout the Middle East and beyond. Such a deal would not block Iran's path to the bomb. It would pave it. It would increase the risks of nuclear proliferation in the region and the risks of a horrific war."

To read all of President Obama's remarks about this "framework," go here.

Prayer Focus

Cry out in intercession to the Lord on behalf of the nation of Israel as well as other countries that would be targeted if Iran is successful in obtaining nuclear weapons. Pray that the world is not taken in by the peaceful-sounding rhetoric of Iran's leaders but looks instead to their actions in spreading terrorism.

Scripture

"For behold, Your enemies make a tumult; and those who hate You have lifted up their head. They have taken crafty counsel against Your people, and consulted together against Your sheltered ones." (Psalm 83:2-3)

Thoughts on Good Friday

Thoughts on Good Friday

by Gary Bauer (Excerpt)

Today, on Good Friday, we think about the Cross and the sacrifice paid for our sins; the amazing love that took our place; and the grace we have been given.

Romans 5:8 tells us, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." While some worship a god who commands men to die for him, we worship a loving God who gave His son to die for us. Thank God for the cross and the empty tomb!

With Christ's resurrection, we have confidence. We have confidence in a caring Creator, rather than the chaos of the cosmos. We have confidence in a glorious future, rather than the finality of the grave. It is this confidence that sustains us in times of trial and tribulation - in times like these.

Why do we have such confidence? Because "It is finished." Christ's atoning work on the Cross is done, and we are saved.

On Easter morning, we do not gather to remember a martyr. We come together to worship the risen Son of God!

He is risen! He is risen indeed!

The Story of Passover

Passover: an Epic Tale of Deliverance and Freedom

The Seder is a joyous celebration with songs, prayers and questions. Everybody participates in recalling and retelling the story. Because Passover, more than any festival, is about remembering and passing that story of deliverance on to the next generation, just as God commanded, "So this day shall be to you a memorial; and you shall keep it as a feast to the Lord throughout your generations. You shall keep it as a feast by an everlasting ordinance" (Exod. 12:14).

More than 3,000 years later, Israel still keeps that commandment. The nation's first Prime Minister, David Ben Gurion, explained it this way:

"More than 300 years ago, a ship by the name of the Mayflower left Plymouth for the New World. It was a great event in American and English history. I wonder how many Englishmen or how many Americans know exactly the date when that ship left Plymouth, how many people were on the ship, and what was the kind of bread the people ate when they left Plymouth.
"Well, more than 3,300 years ago, the Jews left Egypt . . . . and every Jew in the world knows exactly the date we left. It was on the 15th of [the month of] Nisan. The bread they ate was Matzah. Up to date, all the Jews throughout the world on the 15th of Nisan eat the same Matzah, in America, in Russia. [They] tell the story of the exile from Egypt; all the sufferings that happened to the Jews since they went into exile. They finish [with] these two sentences: 'This year we are slaves; next year we will be free. This year we are here; next year we will be in Zion, the land of Israel.' Jews are like that." Offer praise to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob for the faithfulness of His people to keep the feasts of the LORD throughout the millennia. Pray that through its witnessing of the Jewish observance of the Passover, the world will come to recognize the Lord Almighty.

Scripture

"These are the feasts of the LORD, holy convocations which you shall proclaim at their appointed times. On the fourteenth day of the first month at twilight is the LORD's Passover. And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the Feast of Unleavened Bread to the LORD; seven days you must eat unleavened bread." (Leviticus 23:4-6)

Shocking Passover Blood Moon Predictions by Israeli Rabbi

"The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the LORD come." (Joel 3:2)

A mystic rabbi living in southern Israel is urging all Jews to pray and repent as the third Blood Moon of a tetrad cycle approaches.

Rabbi Amram Vaknin, who similarly predicted the events of the Gaza flotilla and the Carmel forest fire in 2010, and Operations Pillar of Defense (2012) and Protective Edge (2014), warns that Israel is facing great judgment and potential danger at this time.

One of Rabbi Vaknin's students, Gil Nachman, spoke to Breaking Israel News and, quoting the sage, explained that the numeric value of the Hebrew word for blood, dam, which is 44, alludes to the 44th president of the United States.

Vaknin predicted that the 44th president would bring bloodshed (dam) to the Jewish people. It should be noted that the rabbi made this prediction before President Barack Obama's election to office.

Vaknin believes that only 44 plus one, or 45, can counter the danger represented by the blood moons. This, he says, is Adam, or Man, which in this case refers to the Messiah.

Rabbi Vaknin called for a day of prayer at the Western Wall this past Wednesday to encourage the arrival of the Messiah and the redemption of the Jewish people and the world. According to their Facebook page, "In these critical times, Am Israel must join together to pray to Hashem to send us Mashiach Ben David!!!"

The repeated number four is also noteworthy, as in addition to the value of 44 and the four Blood Moons of the tetrad, this will be the shortest total lunar eclipse of the 21st century, lasting a mere four minutes, 44 seconds.

The Sages go on to explain that this is because God sits in judgment at those times, and human actions and choices are being weighed. It is a time when our mistakes may come back to haunt us.

Rabbi Vaknin adds his voice to other religious leaders calling on their followers to pray for peace and security in Israel. Christian leaders Mark Biltz and Bob O'Dell have organized a prayer gathering for Christians worldwide to pray during the 4 minutes and 44 seconds of the total lunar eclipse late Friday night. Israel's 20th Knesset Sworn In:

President Likens Israeli Society to Family at Passover

During the opening session, Israel's president likened Israeli society to a family at the Passover Seder. "There are four sons: secular, religious, ultra-orthodox and Arab. They are all smart and they all know how to ask questions."

(Israel)-The Knesset (Israeli parliament) opening session was filled with fresh faces as 39 new Members of Knesset joined veteran lawmakers in a swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday.

New Likud MK Dr. Avraham Negusie, an Israeli of Ethiopian origin elected to the 20th Knesset, told Tazpit News Agency: "I am not only representing my community but also all the new immigrants and Israeli society." Negusie, who lives in Jerusalem with his family, made Aliyah (immigration to Israel) from Ethiopia in 1985 and is a social and political activist for Ethiopian olim (immigrants), assisting in their integration.

"I will be acting in the Knesset on social efforts and working to decrease the economic gaps in this country," stated Negusie, who has a PhD in Philosophy of Education from the University of Sussex in England.

Another new face to the Knesset is Moscow-born MK Ksenia Svetlova of the Zionist Union party. An Israeli journalist on Arab affairs who speaks Russian, Arabic, Hebrew and English, Svetlova told Tazpit that the first inaugural session of the Knesset was very important to her. "We take the oath of loyalty to Israel; it's an oath that we swear to be loyal not only to our country but to the voters, to the people of Israel."

Commenting on the record number of 28 women in the Knesset, Svetlova said that "it is a fantastic accomplishment, but we are not there yet." The new MK, who had to renounce her Russian citizenship prior to being sworn in on Tuesday, hopes that in the future there will be an equal number of women and men in the Israeli parliament as well as in all government offices. "We are working towards this direction," she said.

For veteran MK Silvan Shalom (Likud), a cabinet minister, the day was just as historical and important to him as previous inaugurations. "It's a very important day for Israeli democracy. This is not something that we should take for granted, especially while we are in the Middle East facing so many threats and security problems," he told Tazpit. (United with Israel) Read more here.

Songs Our Grandmothers Sang:

AT THE CROSS

"There is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all men." (1 Timothy 2:5-6)

Lyrics:
Alas! and did my Savior bleed
And did my Sovereign die?
Would He devote that sacred head
For sinners such as I?

Refrain:

At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light,
And the burden of my heart rolled away,
It was there by faith I received my sight,
And now I am happy all the day!

Thy body slain, sweet Jesus, Thine-
And bathed in its own blood-
While the firm mark of wrath divine,
His Soul in anguish stood.

Was it for crimes that I had done
He groaned upon the tree?
Amazing pity! grace unknown!
And love beyond degree!

Well might the sun in darkness hide
And shut his glories in,
When Christ, the mighty Maker died,
For man the creature's sin.

Thus might I hide my blushing face
While His dear cross appears,
Dissolve my heart in thankfulness,
And melt my eyes to tears.

But drops of grief can ne'er repay
The debt of love I owe:
Here, Lord, I give my self away
'Tis all that I can do.

About the Hymn:

[In] the autumn of 1850 . . . revival meetings were being held in the Thirtieth Street Methodist Church [, New York City]. Some of us went down every evening; and, on two occasions, I sought peace at the atlar [sic], but did not find the joy I craved, until one evening, November 20, 1850, it seemed to me that the light must indeed come then or never; and so I arose and went to the altar alone. After a prayer was offered, they began to sing the grand old consecration hymn, "Alas, and did my Saviour bleed, And did my Sovereign die?" And when they reached the third line of the fourth [sic] stanza, "Here Lord, I give myself away," my very soul was flooded with a celestial light. I sprang to my feet, shouting "hallelujah," and then for the first time I realized that I had been trying to hold the world in one hand and the Lord in the other.

THE TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE (the Blood Moon)

It's déjà vu all over again. For the third time in less than a year, sky watchers in the United States can see a total eclipse of the Moon. The action begins Saturday morning, April 4th, at 3:16 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time when the edge of the Moon first enters the amber core of Earth's shadow. For the next hour and 45 minutes, Earth's shadow will move across the lunar disk, ultimately swallowing the entire Moon at 4:58 AM PDT. A movie from ShadowAndSubstance.com previews the transformation:

"Totality" is when the Moon is fully inside Earth's shadow. Some total eclipses last for more than an hour. In this case, however, totality spans just 4 minutes and 43 seconds-a result of the fact that the Moon is skimming the outskirts of Earth's shadow rather than passing centrally through it. The brevity of the eclipse highlights the importance of watching the clock: Be outside no later than 4:58 AM PDT to witness the red Moon.
Why red?

A quick trip to the Moon provides the answer: Imagine yourself standing on a dusty lunar plain looking up at the sky. Overhead hangs Earth, nightside down, completely hiding the sun behind it. The eclipse is underway.

You might expect Earth seen in this way to be utterly dark, but it's not. The rim of the planet looks like it is on fire. As you scan your eye around Earth's circumference, you're seeing every sunrise and every sunset in the world, all of them, all at once. This incredible light beams into the heart of Earth's shadow, filling it with a coppery glow and transforming the Moon into a great red orb when viewed from Earth.
The eclipse will be visible, to some degree, across the entire Pacific side of our planet. A map of the eclipse zone shows where to look. (SpaceWeather.com) Read more.
