The Daily Brief:

"Praying for All in Authority"

Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014

"Let the high praises of God be in their mouth,
And a two-edged sword in their hand,
To execute vengeance on the nations
And punishment on the peoples,
To bind their kings with chains
And their nobles with fetters of iron,
To execute on them the judgment written;
This is an honor for all His godly ones.
Praise the Lord!"
(Psalm 149:6-9)

"And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse . . ." (Rev. 19:1)

2. Video purportedly shows beheading of reporter Steven Sotloff by ISIS - Fox News

A NEW VIDEO PURPORTING to show the beheading of US journalist Steven Sotloff . . . has been released online by ISIS, according to global intelligence organization SITE.

Barak Barfi, a spokesman for the Sotloff family, indicated the family fears the worst. "The family knows of this horrific tragedy and is grieving privately," Barfi told The Associated Press. "There will be no public comment from the family during this difficult time." (Read more)

- Father, we lift up the Sotloff family, and we grieve with those who grieve. May they be comforted in knowing that their son has now paid the ultimate price for our freedom. We continue to ask that Your broom of destruction sweep across the Middle East, casting out and destroying all who are in the ISIS camp. We pray for their souls, in Jesus' Name, amen.

- "I will turn her into a place for owls and into swampland; I will sweep her with the broom of destruction," declares the LORD Almighty. (Isaiah 14:23)

3.  Obama accused of diminishing U.S. standing in fight against terrorism - Washington Times

President Obama found himself under fire Sunday for his cautious approach to beating back the Islamic State's march through Iraq and Syria and stamping out other diplomatic fires around the globe, with a top House Republican suggesting his foreign policy was in free fall and that Western allies no longer view the U.S. as a leader in the fight against bad actors.

Rep. Mike Rogers, Michigan Republican and chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, said the administration is sitting on its hands while radical Islamist fighters grow in influence, recruit from abroad and seize more territory in Iraq and Syria.

"Europe has obviously stood up and said, 'We have a huge problem.' [British Prime Minister] David Cameron came out and said, 'Not only do we have a problem, here's my plan to deal with it,'" Mr. Rogers told "Fox News Sunday." "And so the United States seems to be in this malaise of not being that concerned," said Mr. Rogers, taking an implicit shot at Mr. Obama as another Jimmy Carter. (Read more)

- Father God, in the Name of Jesus, if we have a president who will not fight ISIS, we will. We take up the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, and we behead all of the heads of Leviathan -- the foul demon that is at the root of ISIS -- and we declare this root to be dead now, in Jesus' name. Bring multitudes to deliverance, we pray, and set these captives free. Amen.

- "Was it not you who cut Rahab to pieces, who pierced that monster through?"
(Isaiah 51:9)

Also reported by: Breaking Christian News

- Lord God, in the midst of this chaos, we find Your peace. Thank You, Lord, for this good report. May multitudes of others from the world of Islam be also "driven" into Your arms to find rest, comfort and salvation in Your name, amen.

5. US army attacks terrorists in Somalia - Jerusalem Post

"We are assessing the results of the operation and will provide additional information as and when appropriate," Pentagon spokesman Rear Admiral John Kirby said in a statement.  (Read more)

- Father God, we thank you that the US has shown some action against the multi-headed snake that has declared war on all who do not agree with their brand of religion and governance.  We pray this strike was effective to push back at the enemies of those who love You and Your land of Israel.  We lift up a call for wisdom for our leaders to be bold as a lion against this aggressor and for the safety of our citizens abroad.  Give us righteous leaders, Dear Lord!

  - "The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion."  (Proverbs 28:1)

6. BREAKING: 11 jetliners 'missing' after Islamist takeover of airport - WND

Eleven commercial jets have reportedly been stolen in recent weeks in Libya, and Western intelligence agencies have begun warning they could be used in terror attacks on 9/11, the anniversary of the devastating Osama bin Laden-orchestrated attacks on New York and Washington that left nearly 3,000 dead.

According to a report in the Free Beacon, the jets were taken by Islamist militias in Libya, and reports distributed within the U.S. government "included a warning that one or more of the aircraft could be used in an attack on the date marking the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks."

One official in the report assembled by the highly respected Bill Gertz said, "There are a number of commercial airliners in Libya that are missing. We found out on September 11 what can happen with hijacked planes." (Read more)

- Lord God Almighty in Heaven, only You know the whereabouts of these airliners, and only You in Your mercy can cause that information to be exposed to men. We ask You, merciful God, for this to happen so that American and all other nations allied with us and with Israel will be kept safe from another "9/11 attack" in the days ahead. We ask this in Jesus' Name, amen.

- "I proclaim to you new things from this time, Even hidden things which you have not known." (Isaiah 48:6)

7. Russia 'practically in a state of war against Europe' over Ukraine, EU leaders warn - National Post

Russia is "practically in a state of war against Europe," with the crisis in Ukraine rapidly approaching "the point of no return," EU leaders warned Saturday night.

At a summit in Brussels, they met to discuss toughened economic sanctions on Moscow, specifically targeting Russia's finances, oligarchs linked to Vladimir Putin and the country's vast mineral wealth.

Dalia Grybauskaite, Lithuania's president and a staunch critic of Mr. Putin, called on the EU to get serious as Russia's war in the Ukraine menaced peace in Europe for the first time in decades. "Russia is in a state of war against Ukraine, and that is against a country which wants to be part of Europe. Russia is practically in a state of war against Europe," she said. (Read more)

- Lord God, as our attention is so focused upon ISIS in this hour, let us not forget to pray for others who are in need. We continue to lift up the people of Ukraine before Your Throne of Grace, that they might find Your strength to stand in the face of this Russian bear. Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer, amen.

- "Yea, though I walk through the valley of death, I shall fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me." (Psalm 23:4)

8. Vladimir Putin talks 'statehood' for south-eastern Ukraine as Kiev's ships attacked - Reuters

Russian President Vladimir Putin called on Sunday for immediate talks on the "statehood" of southern and eastern Ukraine, although his spokesman said this did not mean Moscow now endorsed rebel calls for independence for territory they have seized.

The Kremlin leader's remarks, two days after a public appearance in which he compared the Kiev government with Nazis and warned the West not to "mess with us", came as Europe and the United States prepared possible further sanctions to halt what they say is direct Russian military involvement in the war in Ukraine. (Read more)

- Cry out to the Lord on behalf of those caught between the opposing forces which are fighting in Ukraine; but especially for the Jewish people who are trying to make aliyah. Ask that He will deliver them from dangers along the way and bring them safely to the Land of their inheritance.

- "Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence." (Psalm 91:3)

9. Syria conflict: Fresh clashes erupt in Golan Heights - BBC

Renewed fighting between rebels and government forces is being reported in the Syrian Golan Heights, where 44 UN peacekeepers were abducted last week. Activists said heavy clashes were raging around the Quneitra crossing, which rebels seized on Wednesday. The whereabouts of the peacekeepers from Fiji is unclear, but it is thought they are being held by an al-Qaeda-affiliated rebel group, al-Nusra Front. (Read more)

- The borders of Israel, Lord God, have been established by You. How we praise You as the IDF defends the borders of the Land. Protect these brave soldiers; give them wisdom as they monitor the conflict in neighboring Syria. We pray, too, that the team from Fiji is found. In Jesus' Name, amen.

- "For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad." (Mark 4:22)

10. Federal judge blocks enforcement of restrictive Louisiana abortion law - Washington Times

BATON ROUGE, La. - A federal judge has temporarily blocked enforcement of Louisiana's restrictive new abortion law. District Judge John deGravelles says the law can still take effect Monday but officials cannot penalize doctors or clinics for breaking it while a challenge is heard.

The law would require doctors who perform abortions to have admitting privileges to a hospital within 30 miles of their clinics. A Center for Reproductive Rights lawsuit claims doctors haven't had enough time to obtain privileges and the law likely would force Louisiana's five abortion clinics to close. (Read more)

- Lord God, we ask You to forgive Judge deGravelles, for he knows not what he does. We ask You to extend Your hand over this new law in Louisiana, and to lift the block that has been placed upon it. We choose life, in Jesus' name, amen.

- "This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live." (Deuteronomy 30:19)

2. 'Netanyahu focuses on threats, as Kerry and Livni looking to re-start talks - Jerusalem Post

Livni and US Secretary of State John Kerry push for a renewal of Israeli-Palestinian talks, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu continues to publicly focus on regional threats rather than possible negotiations.

Netanyahu stressed the need for US-Israeli cooperation in facing radical Islam when he spoke Monday before a private meeting in Jerusalem with visiting US congressmen Dana Rohrabacher (R-California) and Gregory Meeks (D-New York).

"We are closely following the situation on the Golan Heights, where al-Nusra terrorists kidnapped UN observers," Netanyahu said. "I think that the UN would do itself a great favor if instead of automatically attacking Israel, it would turn its attention, and its investigation committees, toward the terrorists who are trampling the values and norms upon which the UN was founded." 3. Israel worried by increasing Islamist presence on Syria border - Ynet News

Israel's frontier with Syria, where militants have kidnapped 45 UN peacekeepers, has become a magnet for Islamist activity and Israel itself is now a target, the defense minister and security analysts said on Tuesday.

The Nusra Front, an al-Qaeda-linked group fighting Syrian President Bashar Assad, has established a major presence in the region, analysts said, and is poised to carry out attacks across the barren borderlands where Syria, Israel and Jordan converge.

Iran meanwhile is seeking to expand its influence in the region via its support for Assad and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, all of which are allied against the Sunni insurgency confronting Assad, Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon said.

'Iran's fingerprints can be seen in Syria, including in the Golan Heights, in attempts to use terror squads against us,' Ya'alon told Calcalist's Economic Conference as he set out the combined threat from Islamist groups in Syria. (Read more)

Israel and some Western powers are still publicly hoping that Gaza will be demilitarized as one of the outcomes of this summer's war. But Hamas and its on-again-off-again patrons in Iran have much different plans.

Not only will Gaza not be disarmed, but Iranian officials are vowing to significantly boost the military power of terror groups operating out of Judea and Samaria (the so-called "West Bank").

"Arming the West Bank has started and weapons will be supplied to the people of this region," Mohammad Reza Naqdi, head of Iran's state-run Basij militia, told the Fars news agency last week. (Read more)

The Daily Jot

Turkey and the Islamic State

The world is in turmoil over the Islamic State (IS) sweeping across Syria and Iraq. The goal of the IS is to establish a worldwide caliphate under Sharia law. It is apocalyptic in nature as Islam's eschatology holds that the Mahdi, the 12th Imam, will rule over the earth for seven years, establishing the peace of Islam with Jesus Christ as the Mahdi's prophet. This is a mirror opposite of Christian eschatology where the beast (antichrist) will rule seven years with a false prophet before Jesus returns. There is a war prophesied in Ezekiel 38-39 where in 38:3, the Lord says, "Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal." Does this ancient prophecy have significance to IS and its supporters?

Turkey is where the ancient regions of Meshech and Tubal, formerly part of the Assyrian Empire, are located. Gomer and Togarmah, mentioned in Ezekiel 38:6 were also located in Turkey. Turkey is directly North of Israel. A link between Turkey and the Islamic State thus bears watching. With a little digging among foreign news sources, there is a connection between IS and Turkey. The Daily Jot reported previously that Turkish ambulances and hospitals were being used to treat IS militants wounded in battle. According to PressTV, the Iranian international English news network, four Turkish officers were arrested in Fallujah, Iraq for training IS militants. Persia, modern Iran, is also mentioned in the Ezekiel prophecy.

PressTV reports that German state television ARD revealed that IS is recruiting volunteers from an office in Istanbul. The office is run by IS-affiliated Turks and is helping " foreign militants cross the Turkish border to join the terrorist group's militants in Iraq and Syria. The report said that militants have been paid up to 400 euros, to join the battles." World Tribune reports that political opposition to Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is demanding answers about the IS training in Turkey. World Tribune wrote: "Opposition sources said ISIL has continued to operate in Turkey...They said ISIL was recruiting and training its fighters in remote areas of Turkey with the knowledge of the intelligence community."

According to the World Tribune, Sezin Tanrikulu, a member of the main opposition Republican People's Party, said IS was operating several training camps, including one near Istanbul. Tanrikulu asked Interior Minister Efkan Ala, "Is the claim [correct] that the group alleged to have been the Turkish branch of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant has been allocated a camp ground or other places in Istanbul?" Tanrikulu also cited a video that showed alleged IS members training in Turkey. The online video was released by a Turkish website close to Al Qaida, and showed hundreds of purported IS fighters praying during Id Al Fitr on July 28. While IS may not be the final end time beast government, it bears watching because of its connection to Turkey and other actors mentioned in the Ezekiel prophecy.

Jihadi High

Jihadi High

As we reported last week, two former students at Robbinsdale Cooper High School, located in a suburb of Minneapolis, converted to Islam, joined radical groups and died fighting with Islamists on foreign battlefields. They may not be the only jihadists from Robbinsdale Cooper. In 2013, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported that a Syrian sniper had been filmed wearing a Robbinsdale Cooper Hawks sweatshirt. That raises the possibility that this single school has produced three jihadists.

No doubt the great majority of graduates from Robbinsdale Cooper are good Americans. But what are the influences in this particular community, which appears to be breeding jihadists? These two individuals have been glibly written off as merely "losers." But that is not a sufficient explanation for why these converts to Islam traveled halfway across the world to join the jihadists of ISIS.

If several boys had graduated from a Birmingham or Biloxi high school and went on to become KKK thugs, there would be an understandable interest in finding out what, if anything, might have been going on at that high school that would cause not one, not two, but perhaps three boys to go down that road of hatred and violence. I suspect there would be considerable media interest in going to the school and interviewing students and teachers. Perhaps it is worth taking a look.

Minnesota's Twin Cities are a stronghold of the secular, radical left. The area is also increasingly a hotbed of radical Islamism. Both worldviews are defined by their hostility to Western civilization and our Judeo-Christian values. (Gary Bauer)

Stop The Self-Delusion

Stop The Self-Delusion

Three churches in Columbus, Indiana, were vandalized over the weekend. The word "Infidels" and various Koranic verses were spray painted in prominent locations. An investigation is underway and the story is troubling on its face. But something else in the reporting caught my attention.

Doug Marcotte, a priest at near-by Saint Bartholomew's Catholic Church, told one local news outlet, "Is this some sort of nasty prank? Is this someone that's trying to incite people against Muslims?"

We don't know who did this. But given the headlines around the world of beheadings, crucifixions, forced conversions, church bombings and attacks on synagogues, I am not sure why Father Marcotte's first reaction to the defacing of the churches is to speculate that someone may be trying to smear Islam.

In recent years, across Europe and increasingly in the U.S., churches and synagogues have been the targets of vandalism. The perpetrators have often been either heavily involved in Satanism and the occult or Islamists.

Father Doug Marcotte also said, "Is there somebody that really believes this, that we're all infidels, so they felt the need to write it all over our church?" With all due respect, father, as we have seen from the news today the answer is yes!

It seems to me that Father Marcotte's reaction is more evidence of why we are in such deep trouble: Too many of our political and cultural elites are in denial about the threat we face.

Sadly, I believe it is likely if we continue down the road we are now traveling that Christians and Jews in America, sooner than we think, will see our places of worship bombed and burned by the jihadists of Islamism. (Gary Bauer)

ALERT FOR ALL-OUT ASSAULT PRAYER TEAM FOR THE 8TH CIRCUIT COURT OF APPEALS ARKANSAS AND NORTH DAKOTA BANS ON ABORTION

Dear Prayer Team Members,

Thank you for responding that you will be praying for Arkansas, North Dakota and the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals. We want to deeply, deeply, deeply thank you and will send you periodic alerts as things develop. Below is an update - we need your prayers.

Thank you again for praying! God bless you!

Allan E. Parker
President
The Justice Foundation

UPDATE ON NORTH DAKOTA CASE

On August 13, 2014, four new briefs were requested to be filed in the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals in the North Dakota case which bans abortion after 12 weeks, if there is a heartbeat. My initial thought was that the big dogs are trying to get in the case, as you can see below.

PRAYER POINTS

At this point, the State is opposing the filing of these briefs on the abortion side on the grounds it introduces much evidence "outside the record." Outside the record means evidence not introduced at the trial level subject to the rigors of trial. That means the Court has to make a decision. It is interesting to note that the abortionists did not file an objection to the filing of our brief on behalf of women injured by abortion if we did not go outside the record. Fortunately, over three hundred testimonies of women injured by abortion were actually introduced into this trial record by North Dakota in full and another 4,200 were referred to and reviewed by the state's psychological expert.

We did not go outside the record in introducing evidence from women of Operation Outcry that abortion hurts women, and therefore our brief is appropriate in the case. The 8th Circuit has had filed and rejected similar briefs in abortion related cases in the past, and we should be praying that these new briefs are either rejected by the Court completely, but that in any case, even if the Court just reads and rejects them or reads them and allows them to be filed, that all lies, misleading statements, false assumptions and any influence of the abortion power be bound and that it would not influence the court for injustice. Pray for The Justice Foundation as we prepare our response.

Binding the abortion prayer

Binding the abortion prayer

By Allan E. Parker
President
The Justice Foundation

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Eph. 6:12 (KJV)

As a casual student of the abolition of slavery movement, I have searched history for clues as to how to end abortion in America today. I was perplexed as to why the abolitionists talked so often about a "slave power". After research and prayer, I believe now they were not just referring to the "slaveocracy," the ruling class of slave owners, but were also referring to a spiritual, demonic power which was behind the slavery movement and the institution of slavery in the American South prior to the Civil War. They were very familiar with their Bible and much more focused on prayer and bible study than most Christians are presently, at least in my opinion. Thus they would have known what a "power" was.

Jesus said that He has given His church authority to bind and loose, "Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven." Matthew 18:18 (KJV) In addition, Jesus said unless you bind the strong man you cannot plunder his house. "But no one can enter the strong man's house and plunder his property unless he first binds the strong man, and then he will plunder his house." Mark 3:27. (KJV)
Linking these two scriptures together with the Great Commission (Math. 28:20), we see Jesus has all authority on earth, both spiritual and natural, but He has delegated some of this authority to His church. Therefore, I suggest that we need to begin to pray as a movement that the Lord would "bind the abortion power." You can ask the Lord to bind the abortion power in your particular city, state, over the media, the courts, legislatures, in Washington, D.C., over the United States, and the international level through various bodies like the United Nations. You can ask the Lord to bind the abortion power over the abortionists, abortion employees, and pro-abortion supporters such as NARAL. First bind the strong man. Here is a sample prayer:
Dear Lord,

We ask you in the Name of Jesus, and by His Blood and through His authority, that you would bind and rebuke the Abortion Power. It is written: "Greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world." It is written that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood (the abortionists and pro-abortion supporters) but against powers, principalities, and forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Father, deliver us from this evil and from retaliation from the evil one, in Jesus' Name, Amen.

(Do not revile angelical majesties. Don't try to curse them and throw demeaning words at them. See Jude.)

US Asks N. Korea to Release Three Americans-at Least One a Christian-Out of "Humanitarian Concern"

"We also request the DPRK pardon Kenneth Bae and grant him special amnesty and immediate release so he may reunite with his family and seek medical care."

The Obama administration says securing the release of three Americans being held in North Korea is a top priority.

State Department spokeswoman Jan Psaki said they're asking North Korea to release the men out of "humanitarian concern."

"We also request the DPRK pardon Kenneth Bae and grant him special amnesty and immediate release so he may reunite with his family and seek medical care," Psaki said.

On Monday, Jeffrey Fowle, Matthew Todd Miller and Kenneth Bae were permitted to make statements to CNN. All three said they're being treated humanely, but pleaded for the US government to get more involved in their release.

Bae, a tour guide and missionary, was arrested in November 2012 for allegedly trying to topple the North Korean government. He was convicted and sentenced to 15 years hard labor.

Bae says his health has deteriorated at the labor camp, where he works eight hours a day, six days a week. His sister said it's clear her 46-year-old brother is in a lot of pain.

Miller and Fowle were arrested earlier this year. North Korean officials said the two would stand trial for "perpetrating hostile acts."

Fowle's crime was reportedly leaving a Bible at a hotel.

Miller, 24, was arrested in April after he reportedly ripped up his visa at an immigration facility and demanded asylum.

Washington communicates with the detainees via the Swedish embassy in Pyongyang because the US and North Korea have no diplomatic ties.

"And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
