Leaders' Briefing

Leaders' Briefing:

Update America

Today's Topic: What the Mainstream Media Refuses to Report

AND: Using the term "Illegal Border Crossers" instead of "immigrants"
when addressing this issue.

To read today's Leaders' Briefing, go here.

PLEASE NOTE:

The intention of UpdateAmerica is to help us all get on the same page with the messages we are publishing to the American people -- and to the intercessors out there.

We especially want to point out this note on today's Update:

TIP OF THE DAY: "IMMIGRATION"

Do not use the terms, undocumented migrant or Illegal Immigrant use the term Illegal Border Crossers. The word Immigrant implies they are immigrants which means they have a right to be here. Illegal Border Crossers are simply people who break an international border illegally and need to be sent home.

BAD HEADLINE

What New US Citizens Think Of Migrant Families Being Separated

GOOD HEADLINE

Majority of Voters Blame Parents Not Trump For Detention Of Illegal Border Crossers

Focus on Israel

1. Provocation in Rabin Square - Israel National News

Leftist protesters arrived this evening at Rabin Square in Tel Aviv to protest a Chabad rally in which women were separated from men.

Police announced the protesters "violated public order" and repulsed them. Demonstrators shouted "Woman's blood is no different." Some women were able to cross the barrier to the men's area.

The Tel Aviv District Court on Sunday ordered the opening of the event separate for men and women in Rabin Square in Tel Aviv.

The decision was made in a petition submitted by the Association for the True and Complete Redemption, which is affiliated with the messianic faction in Chabad, against the ban on separation imposed by the Tel Aviv municipality.

In the hearing, Judge Kobi Vardi attacked the municipality's position and the organizations petitioning against the event, noting that "there's no reason not to hold the event with separation."

2. IDF Southern Division official warns against apparent quiet at the border - Jerusalem Online

A top commander of Israel's Southern Division referred on Thursday to the temporary ceasefire at Israel's southern border, saying he believes Israel was as close to war as it has been since Operation Protective Edge (Israel's military operation against Hamas in 2014 at the Gaza border). The senior commander, whose name was not released, indicated that Israel's policy was to regain some sense of political stability, so it can deal with bigger threats such as Iran and Syria, saying: "We have been operating under a clear policy to quickly regain stability so we can complete building the obstacle and to allow Israel to focus on tackling bigger threats like Iran and Syria, and that is why we have not let [the situation] escalate to war."

Meanwhile, the IDF released a photo of cement bags supplied by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), which were found in a terrorist tunnel destroyed by the Israeli military earlier this week.

The top Israeli commander referred to the relative quiet achieved at the border, saying that "there have been a number of considerations" and that "this was a very small round," but that "we are ready for a larger and more significant round." He added that Israel is prepared for tensions in the upcoming days despite the moderation demonstrated by Hamas and its ability to restrain other extreme factions.

3. Israel reportedly agrees to set up seaport for Gaza in Cyprus - Times of Israel

Israel has reportedly agreed to set up a floating dock in Cyprus to receive goods bound for the Gaza Strip as a way to ease the rehabilitation of the ailing Palestinian enclave, conditioning the plan on the return of two Israeli civilians and the bodies of two IDF soldiers held by the Hamas terror group.

Israel intends to put together a working plan in the coming months and then pitch it directly to the public in Gaza, bypassing the Hamas rulers of the coastal territory, Hadashot TV news reported Monday. Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman proposed the idea to Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades in Cyprus over the weekend, the report said.

The plan is to set up a project team within two weeks, with the goal of putting together a working scheme within three months.

4. Amid PA rejectionism, Arab nations threaten to 'go over Abbas' head' - Israel Hayom

Top officials in the moderate Arab nations have
reportedly informed U.S. President Donald Trump's Middle East envoys that they would back an American peace plan for the region regardless of whether the Palestinian Authority agrees to discuss it.

Senior officials in Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and
the United Arab Emirates met with White House adviser Jared Kushner and U.S. Special Representative for International Negotiations Jason Greenblatt in recent days and reportedly told them that, having become fed up with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas' rejectionism, they will not stand in Trump's way when he presents his Middle East peace plan.

The White House said last week that the long-awaited
plan, dubbed the "deal of the century," would most likely be presented in August.

Abbas declared that he would not engage with the U.S. on peace talks after Trump officially recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital in December and subsequently relocated the American Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Abbas maintains that these moves clearly demonstrate Trump's pro-Israel bias and therefore the U.S. cannot act as an impartial peace broker between Israel and the Palestinians.

5. Seeking opposition leader role, Livni warns against Zionist Union dissolution - YNET News

Knesset Member Tzipi Livni said Monday she should be appointed opposition leader instead of Isaac Herzog, who will be vacating his position soon after being elected Jewish Agency chairman.

Speaking at the start of the Zionist Union faction meeting at the Knesset, Livni said that "the Zionist Union is one of the biggest factions in the Knesset thanks to the partnership we created. Leading the opposition is necessary in my opinion for continuing the partnership, and it could serve as a wonderful opportunity to strengthen the partnership and strengthen the Zionist Union, and for joint decisions in the future."

Labor Party leader Avi Gabbay, who sat next to Livni during the meeting, refused to respond to questions on the identity of Herzog's replacement.

Herzog clarified Sunday that he believes Livni should replace him as opposition leader. The agreement between Livni and Herzog before the last elections included a rotating leadership deal, although Livni has avoided claiming an implementation of that deal so far.

The Daily Brief

1. Rep. Waters Calls on Public to Resist Trump Officials: 'Create a Crowd . . . Push Back on Them' - CNSNews.com

House Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) called on Americans to confront Trump administration officials whenever they see them, to "create a crowd" and "push back on them" and "tell them they're not welcome anymore, anywhere."

Waters also predicted that "people are going to turn" on Trump officials and "harass them," to the point where they "won't be able to go to a restaurant" or a gas station or a department store."

"Let's make sure we show up, wherever we have to show up, and if you see anybody from that cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd," said Rep. Waters at a rally on Saturday in Los Angeles. "And you push back on them, and you tell them they're not welcome, anymore, anywhere." (Read more)
- Father God, Maxine Waters' remarks today should be a wake-up call for all law-abiding American citizens to stand up and fight for what is right in our nation. Lord God, we fight not with the weapons of man, but with the weapons of our warfare. We ask You to forgive Ms. Waters for her hate-filled words, for she truly does not know what she does. Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayers, in Your name, amen.

- " . . . for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses." (2 Corinthians 10:4)

2. Trump officials hounded and harassed as protester tactics take a turn - Fox News

The backlash against Trump administration immigration policies has in a matter of days escalated from routine protests to a strategy that includes confronting Cabinet members and other Trump-tied officials in virtually any public venue. Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters of California over the weekend sought to bring the 'resistance' to a new level when she urged supporters to swarm Cabinet members at gas stations and anywhere else they're seen. "If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them and you tell them they're not welcome anymore, anywhere," Waters said. (Read more)
- Lord we ask Your mighty protection for our leadership, both the family of our President and the cabinet members who are being hounded. We pray that this will backfire on those who are doing it, so that the average Americans will see the truth.

- "Do not envy the oppressor and choose none of his ways." (Proverbs 3:31)

3. POLL STUNNER: Majority With Trump: Want Wall Built, Migrant Families Deported or Detained - Gateway Pundit

A poll released Sunday by CBS News shows a majority of Americans support a wall being built on the border with Mexico and for migrant families who illegally entered the U.S. to be deported or detained.

The CBS News 2018 Battleground Tracker Poll conducted by YouGov June 21-22 during the midst of the controversy over migrant families and unaccompanied children flooding the southern border shows a shift toward President Trump's views since a March CBS poll by SSRS showed 60 percent opposed a wall.

Now 51 percent support a wall being built but they are split on whether it can be completed. 32 percent say the wall is a good idea and can probably be completed while another 19 percent say the wall is a good idea that should be tried even if it can't be completed.

As for migrant families who enter the U.S. illegally, 48 percent believe they should be returned to their countries as a unit. 11 percent think the parents should be arrested and their children detained with them. 4 percent said the parents should be arrested and their children kept in a separate facility. A total of 63 percent either want the migrant families deported or detained. Only 21 percent think the family should be released into the U.S. with a promise to appear for a hearing at a later date. (Read more)
- Father, we pray that the "silent majority" will be more and more evident as the screams against our President grow louder. We ask for truth to be revealed so that people will be removed from deception.

- "Behold You desire truth in the inward parts." (Psalm 51:6a)

4. Trump hosts 'Angel Families' to highlight crime by illegal immigrants - Washington Times

President Trump highlighted "American victims of illegal immigration" on Friday, hosting families of people killed by people who immigrated to the U.S. illegally to tell their stories and hitting back at critics of his rescinded policy that separated some children from their parents who crossed the border illegally.

"These are the American citizens permanently separated from their loved ones," Mr. Trump said at the White House. "These are the families the media ignores. These are the stories that Democrats and people that are weak on immigration don't want to discuss." He was surrounded on a stage by so-called "Angel" families who lost loved ones to violence by immigrants who entered the U.S. illegally. Many of the parents held large photographs of their dead children. Referring to the furor over separating children from their parents at the border, in all but a few cases temporarily for investigative purposes, Mr. Trump emphasized repeatedly that the families gathered with him had lost their loved ones forever. (Read more)
- Father, we pray for an end to this immigration nightmare so that people can be safe again in our homes and on the streets of America. We ask for Your comfort for these families that have lost loved ones.

- "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." (Psalm 147:3)

5. Comedian: Hollywood Left Trying to See 'Who Can Be the Most Rude' to Conservatives- Fox Insider

Comedian Michael Loftus said Sunday that he believes liberal celebrities are competing to see who can be the most rude to conservatives. Stars like Robert De Niro, Bill Maher and Seth Rogen have recently been in the news for their anti-Trump actions and comments. De Niro went on a profanity-laced tirade about President Trump during the Tony Awards, Maher said he was hoping for a recession to oust Trump from office and Rogen said he refused to take a photo with House Speaker Paul Ryan because of Rogen's opposition to the Trump administration. "We're watching a race on the left to see who can be the most rude," Loftus said on "Fox & Friends." (Read more)
- Father, there is nothing left inside these people but their hate. They are living in a world of darkness and evil.

- "You do not know what manner of spirit you are of." (Luke 9:55)

6. Pentagon eyes temporary camps for immigrants at two bases - Reuters

The U.S. military is preparing to build temporary camps at two military bases to house immigrants, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said on Sunday, in the latest sign of a growing U.S. military support role for President Donald Trump's politically charged immigration policies.

Mattis, speaking to reporters during a flight to Alaska, did not specify the names of the bases or say whether they would house immigrant children or their parents, or both.

"The details are being worked out . . . about exactly how much capacity they need at the two bases, what other kinds of facilities they need built," Mattis said, as he disclosed the request for the facilities from the government's Department of Homeland Security. (Read more)
- Lord, we ask that You working this situation to make sure our military bases are not compromised. We ask for our military leaders to have great wisdom in this issue.

- "Happy is the man who finds wisdom and the man who gains understanding." (Proverbs 3:13)

7. Rhode Island Passes Bill to Keep Trump Off 2020 Ballot If He Doesn't Release Tax Returns - Fox insider

Rhode Island's state Senate on Tuesday passed a bill that would require candidates for president and vice president to make their tax returns public in order to get on the Rhode Island ballot. The bill -- which passed by a 34-to-3 vote -- now goes to the state House. The legislation's lead sponsor, Sen. Gayle Goldin (D), noted that every presidential candidate since Richard Nixon voluntarily released their tax returns until Donald Trump's presidential run. (Read more)
- Father, we ask that You intervene in this situation, and expose the agenda of this legislature's action.

"Therefore do not fear them. For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known." (Matt 10:26)

8. Nancy Pelosi: Maxine Waters' Attack on Trump 'Unacceptable' - Newsmax

House Minority leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., appeared to slam a call by Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., for people to harass officials in President Donald Trump's administration whenever they are out in public.

Her Twitter post linked to a CNN tweet about Waters encouraging her supporters to harass Trump administration officials.

Waters had told MSNBC: "These members of his Cabinet who remain and try to defend [Trump], they're not going to be able to go to a restaurant, they're not going to be able to stop at a gas station, they're not going to be able to shop at a department store. The people are going to turn on them. They're going to protest."

She was referring to several instances where people have already confronted White House officials in public over the administration's "zero tolerance" immigration policy.

And she encouraged Americans to "absolutely harass" White House officials. (Read more)
- Father God, we thank You that Nancy Pelosi has taken this stand, as the head of the Democratic Party in the House of Representatives, against the behavior of Rep. Maxine Waters. We ask that she (Waters) be expelled from her seat in that chamber, in Your name, amen.

- "Let all things be done decently and in order." (I Corinthians 14:40)

9. GOP lawmakers sign letter asking DOJ official Rosenstein for names of everyone working on Mueller probe - Fox News

A group of seven House Republican lawmakers has signed a letter asking Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to provide the names of everyone "past and present" who has worked on Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation. (Read more)
- Lord God, no matter how far, how wide, and how deep this goes, we ask that righteousness be restored to our nation. In Your name, amen.

- "He uncovers deep things out of darkness, And brings the shadow of death to light." (Job 12:22)

10. Hundreds Come to Christ at Scotland Crusade Hosted by Billy Graham's Grandson - Christian Post

Hundreds of people in Scotland accepted an invitation to accept Christ at a revival event hosted by Billy Graham's grandson, Will Graham, last weekend. The oldest child of outspoken evangelical figure Franklin Graham spoke at the Central Scotland Celebration of Hope, a three-day crusade hosted by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association at Falkirk Stadium.

At one of four evangelistic services, he told the crowd that Jesus is "different than anyone else in human history." "Jesus never sinned. He brought people back to life. He healed on the spot. He restored sight to the blind. And He's the only One who died for your sins," Graham said, according to a press release. "Jesus Christ isn't dead. He's alive today, and He wants to come into your life!" (Read more)
- Lord, we ask for a move of repentance and pray for a revival just like this all across America. Let your end time harvest cover the earth like a mighty flood of righteousness!

- "And He will cause the rain to come down for you-the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month." (Joel 2:23)

The hypocrisy of the coup-makers

The owner of the Red Hen restaurant in Lexington, Va refused to serve White House Press Secretary Sara Huckabee and her seven family members Friday night. The owner said she asked Huckabee and her party to leave because the restaurant upheld certain standards of "honesty, compassion and cooperation." The owner said that she was upset because of President Trump's policies on immigration and banning transgender people from the military. Last week, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen was chased out of a Mexican restaurant by a mob of "Democratic Socialists" and protesters at her home yelled, "No peace, no sleep." Protests are erupting across the country.

This is all part of a bigger movement. Remember after the election, the ex-"president" moved many of his top aides to his Organizing For Action (OFA) group. OFA claims it has over 32,000 volunteers and 250 offices nationwide. On February 13, 2017, The Daily Jot wrote: "Think about how this works-Trump issues an immigration executive order; OFA signals for protests and statements from Islamic and pro-immigrant leftist groups; ACLU lawyers file lawsuits in jurisdictions where activist judges obstruct the laws; volunteers are called to protest . . . the leftist media springs to action . . . violence follows-all emanating from the ex-"president's" signal that he is heartened by the protests." This is just about how things are playing out right now because Trump is enforcing laws that have been on the books for over a decade.
Over the weekend, Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA), a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus (translate: socialists and communists in Congress), told a group, "Let's stay the course... if you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them, and you tell them they're not welcome anymore, anywhere." Legal citizens not welcome in their own country? Imagine if Waters was denied service at a restaurant, department store or gas station? Racism and bigotry would take center stage. Waters ranted, "we're going to win this battle because while you try and quote the Bible, Jeff Sessions and others, you really don't know the Bible. God is on OUR side."

Waters appears very uninformed about how God wants us to treat one another, including immigrants. The Bible says in Exodus 22:21, "Thou shalt neither vex a stranger or oppress him." It also says in Exodus 12:49, "One law shall be to him that is home-born, and unto the foreigner who sojourns among you." These commands are repeated throughout the Bible. We are to treat immigrants with the same love and respect with which we want others to treat us AND they must obey the law. These people are breaking the law by entering illegally. But that's what the coup-makers want. They want to treat law abiding citizens with contempt, and to enlist the lawless to help them overthrow the country. Yet in this hypocrisy, they claim God's favor.
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Polls Are Open Today

Polls Are Open Today:

A Reminder from Mary Murphy
mary@cwoi.org

Intercessors,

In many states today the polls will be open. It has been brought to my attention from a friend that we need to be in prayer over the many polling places across this nation tomorrow and every other Tuesday when and where people will be voting. Since the liberal left has lost its mind and gone insane over the fact that Trump is succeeding and is still in office they have become completely unhinged. Maxine Waters is encouraging violence, which is unthinkable for an elected official to think, much less speak things of this sort.

It has been brought up that the people who work for these elected or appointed officials be armed. What has America come to?

Prayer in this day and age is not an option, it has become a daily need to protect those in office and for those we love.
- PLEASE BE IN PRAYER FOR THE PROTECTION OF THE VOTERS AS THEY GO ABOUT THEIR BUSINESS OF CASTING THEIR VOTES.
- PRAY THAT NOT ONE PLACE OR ANY PERSON IS ATTACK BY THE OUTRAGE OF THOSE WHO HATE TRUMP.
- THIS HATRED IS GETTING OUT OF HAND AND IT IS TIME FOR THESE PEOPLE TO GROW UP AND ACCEPT WHAT WE HAVE. PLEASE PRAY THIS.
- ASK THE LORD TO SHUT THE MOUTHS OF THE LIONS OF THOSE WHO PROMOTE HATRED, VENGEANCE AND VIOLENCE.
- PRAY FOR YOUR STATE THAT NO UNHOLY EVENTS WILL OCCUR TOMORROW.
- DON'T EVER FORGET TO PRAY FOR PROTECTION FOR THE PRESIDENT, HIS FAMILY, STAFF AND EVERYONE IN THE ADMINISTRATION.
- PRAY THAT THE WARRING ANGELS ARE THERE TO PROTECT THEM.
The Lord BLESS you and KEEP you.
The Lord make His Face to SHINE upon you
And be GRACIOUS unto you.
The Lord LIFT up His Countenance upon you
And GIVE you Peace.
(Numbers 6:24)

Expulsion of Maxine Waters from the Congress

Dear friends,

I wanted to let you know about the petition I created on We the People, a feature on WhiteHouse.gov, and ask for your support. Will you add your name to mine? If this petition gets 99,999 signatures by July 25, 2018, the White House will review it and respond!
You can view and sign the petition by clicking here.

Here's some more information about this petition:
Expulsion of Maxine Waters from the Congress

As a member of the Congress Maxine Waters is called to uphold the Constitution and to propose laws for the good of all Americans. United States is called to be "One Nation under God" with all the citizens living in peace.

Instead of that Maxine Waters is encouraging people to draw a crowd and harass, bully, verbally engage, and shout vindictive at anyone in the Cabinet or Administration that they encounter in public. Those who are conservative and support the President, from the Cabinet level to local citizens who voted for President Trump, are her targets!
WHICH TYPES OF SPEECH ARE NOT PROTECTED BY THE FIRST AMENDMENT?
Although different scholars view unprotected speech in different ways, there are basically nine categories:

- Obscenity
- Fighting words
- Defamation (including libel and slander)
- Child pornography
- Perjury
- Blackmail
- Incitement to imminent lawless action
- True threats
- Solicitations to commit crimes
Some experts also would add treason, if committed verbally, to that list. Plagiarism of copyrighted material is also not protected.

Because of her incitement to violence at the national level Maxine Waters must be expelled from the House of Representatives.

Focus on Supreme Court:

Two Key Decisions Released Yesterday

1. Supreme Court sides with Texas in redistricting map dispute - Fox News

A sharply divided Supreme Court on Monday kept in place most of a controversial Texas redistricting plan enacted by the GOP-led legislature, despite lawsuits from civil rights groups claiming it was discriminatory. The case involved claims of racial gerrymandering -- that election maps had the effect of harming the voting rights of black and Hispanic voters.

The 5-4 decision kept in place all but one challenged district, striking down the conclusions of a special three-judge federal panel that had ruled against the state. That judicial panel, though, initially had approved the voting maps on an interim basis, boundaries that were subsequently enacted by the state legislature. That, said Justice Samuel Alito for the conservative majority, showed a presumption of good faith. (Read more)
- Lord, we thank You that this one action stands, but we pray that the other redistricting actions in other states will be stopped if they are found to be wrong.

- "Evil pursues pursues sinners, but to the righteous good shall be repaid."
(Proverbs 13:21)

2. Supreme Court grants appeal of florist who refused to serve gay wedding - NBC

The U.S. Supreme Court Monday granted the appeal of a Washington state florist who was fined after she refused to sell flowers to a gay couple for their wedding, and the court erased a lower court ruling against her.

The move came after the court gave a narrow victory on June 4 to a Colorado baker who refused to make a cake for a gay wedding. That decision affected only him and offered no guidance on how to referee similar disputes between same-sex couples and business owners who cite religious objections in refusing to serve them.

Monday's action sends the florist's case back to the Washington state courts "for further consideration in light" of the decision in the baker case, which offered little guidance on how to balance gay rights and religious freedom.

"The Washington State Supreme Court now has the job of determining whether the U.S. Supreme Court ruling affects this case. I am confident they will come to the same conclusion they did in their previous, unanimous ruling upholding the civil rights of same-sex couples in our state," Robert Ferguson, Washington's attorney general, said Monday. (Read more)
- Lord, we are sad that the court didn't rule in favor of this lady, but are hopeful that her case during reconsideration will be won. We ask for Your hand to be present in this situation.

- "The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry." (Psalm 34:15)

3. FRC's Tony Perkins' Statement on Arlene's Flowers, Inc. v. Washington Remand to Lower Court - FRC

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today the U.S. Supreme Court granted the petition for a writ of certiorari in the case of Arlene's Flowers, Inc. v. Washington. The lower court's judgment was vacated, and the case was remanded to the Washington state supreme court for further consideration in light of the U.S. Supreme Court's recent decision in the case of Masterpiece Cakeshop, Ltd. v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission.

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins released the following statement:
"This is welcome news in light of the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in Jack Phillips' case. However, Barronelle Stutzman of Arlene's Flowers is still facing the same limitations on her freedom in Washington state. In an unprecedented show of religious hostility, the state's chief law enforcer, Bob Ferguson personally disparaged her by comparing her biblical beliefs on marriage to racial discrimination. The state attorney general sought to severely punish her with crippling fines to drive her out of business and even sued her personally, which could result in her home being taken away.
"Our hope and prayer is that the lower court that ruled against Barronelle's religious freedom will acknowledge the grave error in their previous ruling and restore Barronelle's freedom to live out her deeply held convictions in her own business.

"The government has no authority to force Americans like Barronelle to engage in speech and events with which they morally disagree. Constitutional freedoms do not stop at the door of your local church, and instead extend to every area of a person's life. It is time the Washington state supreme court acknowledge that fact and remove the threat of crippling fines from Barronelle, imposed on her simply because she was following her deeply held beliefs," Perkins concluded.

Classic Hymns

JESUS SHALL REIGN

"He will rule from sea to sea and from the River to the ends of the earth." (Psalm 72:8)

Lyrics

Jesus shall reign where'er the sun Does his successive journeys run; His kingdom stretch from shore to shore, Till moons shall wax and wane no more.

Behold the islands with their kings, And Europe her best tribute brings; From north to south the princes meet, To pay their homage at His feet.

There Persia, glorious to behold, There India shines in eastern gold; And barb'rous nations at His word Submit, and bow, and own their Lord.
To Him shall endless prayer be made, And praises throng to crown His head; His Name like sweet perfume shall rise With every morning sacrifice.

People and realms of every tongue Dwell on His love with sweetest song; And infant voices shall proclaim Their early blessings on His Name.

Blessings abound wherever He reigns; The prisoner leaps to lose his chains; The weary find eternal rest, And all the sons of want are blessed.
Where He displays His healing power, Death and the curse are known no more: In Him the tribes of Adam boast More blessings than their father lost.

Let every creature rise and bring Peculiar honors to our King; Angels descend with songs again, And earth repeat the loud amen!

Great God, whose universal sway The known and unknown worlds obey, Now give the kingdom to Thy Son, Extend His power, exalt His throne.
The scepter well becomes His hands; All Heav'n submits to His commands; His justice shall avenge the poor, And pride and rage prevail no more.

With power He vindicates the just, And treads th'oppressor in the dust: His worship and His fear shall last Till hours, and years, and time be past.

As rain on meadows newly mown, So shall He send his influence down: His grace on fainting souls distills, Like heav'nly dew on thirsty hills.

The heathen lands, that lie beneath The shades of overspreading death, Revive at His first dawning light; And deserts blossom at the sight.

The saints shall flourish in His days, Dressed in the robes of joy and praise; Peace, like a river, from His throne Shall flow to nations yet unknown.

About the Hymn:

Perhaps one of the most interesting occasions on which this hymn was used was that on which King George, the sable, of the South Sea Islands, but of blessed memory, gave a new constitution to his people, exchanging a heathen for a Christian form of government. Under the spreading branches of the banyan trees sat some thousand natives from Tonga, Fiji, and Samoa, on Whitsunday, 1862, assembled for Divine worship. Foremost amongst them all sat King George himself. Around him were seated old chiefs and warriors who had shared with him the dangers and fortunes of many a battle-men whose eyes were dim, and whose powerful frames were bowed down with the weight of years. But old and young alike rejoiced together in the joys of that day, their faces most of them radiant with Christian joy, love, and hope. It would be impossible to describe the deep feeling manifested when the solemn service began, by the entire audience singing Dr. Watts' hymn.

Who so much as they could realize the full meaning of the poet's words? For they had been rescued from the darkness of heathenism and cannibalism and they were that day met for the first time under a Christian constitution, under a Christian king, and with Christ Himself reigning in the hearts of most of those present. That was indeed Christ's kingdom set up in the earth.

Signs and Wonders

Extreme weather: Massive rains are causing more flash flooding, and experts say it's getting worse

OLD FORT, N.C. - Brian Gentry was certain his 33,000-pound truck would be fine as he headed out into the heavy rains here in the Blue Ridge Mountains. But as he went to clear debris from a two-lane highway after more than a half-foot of rain, rocklike drops pounded the windows, and he heard the earth "crack" around him as the land began to slide.

Mud and uprooted trees slammed his vehicle, tossing it across the highway, over a 10-foot embankment and into the raging Catawba River. Gentry and a co-worker with the North Carolina Department of Transportation were rolled, and the truck came to rest in the water, just the passenger-side window peeking out.

"I looked around, and I saw everything that was going on, and I thought, 'I am going to die,'
" Gentry, 47, recalled. "I thought, 'My life is about over, so I need to call my wife.'"
Gentry spent 40 minutes clinging to a rope in the water awaiting rescue, the victim of an alarming phenomenon: Torrential rain events across the United States are becoming more frequent and more intense, leading to record rainfall, rare extreme flooding and perilous infrastructure failures.
Experts say the immense rains - some spawned by tropical ocean waters, others by once-routine thunderstorms - are the product of long-rising air temperatures and an increase in the sheer size of the storms. Because warmer air can hold more water, large storms are dropping far more rain at a faster clip.

Such rains in recent weeks have deluged the Great Lakes region, the Deep South and the suburbs of major cities along the Atlantic coast. Philadelphia, Charlottesville, and Ocean City, Ellicott City and Frederick in Maryland all have experienced major flooding since mid-May. Several locations in Maryland had their wettest May on record, including Baltimore, which tallied more than eight inches, most of which fell in the second half of the month.
"Things are definitely getting more extreme," said Andreas Prein, an atmospheric scientist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colo. "You just have to look at the records. All areas of the continental U.S. have seen increases in peak rainfall rates in the past 50 years. ... And there is a chance that we are underestimating the risk, actually." Largest Gathering of Anglicans in 50 Years Tells Archbishop of Canterbury to Return to "Teaching the Bible Only"

"I believe it to be an historic moment; a defining moment in the life of the Anglican Communion worldwide for the 21st century. The letter presents as a loving and firm challenge to the official structures of the Church of England to return to the true Gospel and to discipline church leaders who refuse to teach or live in the light of that Gospel." - Andrea Minichiello Williams
Delegates at the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON) in Jerusalem, which was attended by 1,950 representatives from 50 countries, made a passionate call this week to go to the ends of the earth to proclaim Jesus Christ to all nations.

They also agreed on a letter to the churches in the Anglican Communion which calls for the Archbishop of Canterbury as its leader, to reaffirm the clear teaching of the Bible in line with historical Anglican orthodoxy.

"This is a stunning declaration of the Gospel. I believe it to be an historic moment; a defining moment in the life of the Anglican communion worldwide for the 21st century," Andrea Minichiello Williams, the CEO of Christian Concern said in a press release. (CBN) Read more.

About CHPP

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].
Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
