1. White House Says Kushner Met Jordan's Abdullah About Israeli-Palestinian Peace - US News and World Report

White House Senior Adviser Jared Kushner, who is also President Donald Trump's son-in-law, met on Tuesday with Jordan's King Abdullah about the humanitarian situation in Gaza and the Trump administration's efforts on creating peace between Israel and the Palestinian territories, the White House said on Tuesday.

The meeting, which also included Special Representative for International Negotiations Jason Greenblatt, came one day after a tete-a-tete between the king of the Arab nation and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on advancing regional peace. The Trump administration has been working on an Israeli-Palestinian plan, but it has yet to be made public.

2. UN chief: Gaza on the brink of war - Israel National News

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is warning that Gaza is close to the brink of war and expressing shock over the number of Gazans killed and wounded by Israeli live fire during protests, in a report obtained by AFP on Monday.

Guterres told the Security Council that he "unequivocally condemns the steps by all parties that have brought us to this dangerous and fragile place" in the Israeli-Palestinian Arab conflict.

He also blasted Israel's "settlement activities", according to AFP, saying they "continue unabated." Guterres said the construction of "settlements" must "cease immediately and completely.

3. How US presidents promised not to pressure Israel to give up its nukes - YnetNews

Four American presidents protected Israel's alleged nuclear arsenal for years in return for a continuation of the nuclear ambiguity policy, according to foreign reports.

The New Yorker published an investigation Monday revealing that President Donald Trump signed a secret letter last year assuring Israel that it won't be pressured to give up its nuclear weapons as long as it won't discuss its nuclear arsenal publicly.

According to the investigation, senior Israeli officials visited the White House on February 13, 2017 and asked to discuss a secret letter which basically continues letters signed by previous presidents, declaring that the Americans won't intervene in Israel's nuclear arsenal.

4. WATCH: Israel's navy tests new long-range heavy torpedo - Jerusalem Post

The Israel Navy successfully completed a test of a new torpedo system set to enter operational use on Israel's submarine fleet, a senior Navy officer announced Tuesday.

The trial of the heavy torpedo, which was carried out on Monday night against targets simulating enemy ships, was the final test of a series of pre-planned experiments to test the system's competence.

"The implementation of the system constitutes a significant step in the strengthening of the Navy and in maintaining the superiority of the IDF in the naval arena," the senior officer said, adding that the new torpedo systems have more accurate attack capabilities and can reach farther distances.

5. US approves $500M for missile defense aid to Israel - World Israel News

The United States Senate approved its version of the annual defense spending bill Monday that included the $500 million promised to Israel each year for missile defense.

The money will go to help fund all levels of anti-missile production, from short- and medium-range (David's Sling, Iron Dome) to intercontinental (Arrow 2 and 3).

In addition, Globes reported, $50 million was allocated for a joint program to combat the threat of terror tunnels that Hamas and other terror groups have been building in order to smuggle arms and infiltrate Israel.

7. Netanyahu's Offer to Save Iran with Israeli Water Tech Draws Wave of Iranian Support - United with Israel

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's video offering to share Israeli water technology with the Iranians racked up 5 million views in the first five days it was online, 1.6 million of which were on Netanyahu's own social media channels. Perhaps more significantly, nearly 100,000 Iranians joined the Israeli government's Farsi-language Telegram account within 24 hours of the video going live.

All in all, this was the second-most watched Netanyahu video after a presentation in April in which Netanyahu unveiled an Iranian nuclear archive smuggled out of Iran by Israeli agents.

In the video, posted a week ago, Netanyahu addresses the Iranian people directly, offering to teach Iran how to manage its water resources. Netanyahu pours himself a glass of water and says, "I want to help save countless Iranian lives. Here's how: Iran's meteorological organization says that nearly 96 percent of Iran suffers from some levels of drought." "Israel has the know-how to prevent environmental catastrophe in Iran. I want to share this information with the people of Iran. Sadly, Iran bans Israelis from visiting," Netanyahu says in the video.

The Daily Brief

1. Trump Stands by Family-Separation Policy as Hill GOP Scrambles for Solution - FreeBeacon

President Donald Trump and his administration continued to aggressively defend its policy of separating children from parents who enter the country illegally as public backlash to the policy intensified and Republicans on Capitol Hill sought a solution. Customs and Border Protection officials on Tuesday said they have separated more than 2,000 children from parents or other family members since early May but did not say how many of those children are under the age of five.

Brian Hastings, Border Patrol's acting chief of operations, told reporters that the agency's field supervisors have discretion to allow those young children to stay with their parents, if, for instance, they are breast-feeding or if U.S. authorities believe there is a "humanitarian" reason to keep them with their family members. Steve Wagner, the acting assistant secretary at Health and Human Services' Administration for Children and Families, said the agency's Office of Refugee Resettlement is housing 11,786 immigrant children in "an elaborate network" of facilities in 17 states.

As outrage about the separations continued to build, President Trump showed no sign of backing away from his "zero tolerance" policy of prosecuting illegal immigrants who enter the country regardless of whether they bring children with them. His administration stood by its argument that the resolution of the Flores settlement agreement impedes its ability to keep children with their parents during the process of prosecuting illegal immigration cases or promptly returning these families to their home countries.

The White House late Friday signaled the president would sign a compromise measure allowing so-called Dreamers to remain in the country legally. The legislation includes several of Trump's priorities: money for a border wall, a shift to so-called merit-based immigration, and an end to the visa lottery system. (Read more)

- Father, the media are creating an unthinking, emotional stampede toward solutions to our immigration problems. We pray the final immigration bill will deal with all the unfortunate realities and provide long-term solutions.

- Yet these people slander whatever they do not understand, and the very things they do understand by instinct-as irrational animals do-will destroy them. Woe to them! They have taken the way of Cain; they have rushed for profit into Balaam's error; they have been destroyed in Korah's rebellion. (Jude 10-11)

2. Democrats' Border Separation Bill Would Let Nearly All Parents Who Commit Federal Crimes Get Off Scot-Free - The Federalist

Democrats' proposed legislation to prohibit so-called border separations would actually prevent federal law enforcement agencies almost anywhere inside the United States from arresting and detaining criminals who are parents having nothing to do with unlawfully crossing the border and seeking asylum.

Every Senate Democrat has now signed on to cosponsor a bill written so carelessly that it does not distinguish between migrant children at the border and U.S. citizen children already within the United States. The bill further does not distinguish between federal officers handling the border crisis and federal law enforcement pursuing the ordinary course of their duties.

Let's break down Sen. Dianne Feinstein's proposed "Keep Families Together Act" to see where Democrats went wrong. The bill provides that "[a]n agent or officer of a designated agency shall be prohibited from removing a child from his or her parent or legal guardian at or near the port of entry or within 100 miles of the border of the United States" (with three exceptions to be discussed later). Four immediate warning signs in this provision should put the reader on notice that this bill is not what Democrats claim. (Read more)

- Father, we pray this bill, as it stands, will not gain enough support to be considered by Congress.

- Also it is not good for a person to be without knowledge, and he who hurries his footsteps errs. (Proverbs 19:2)

3. Grassley Outlines 'Double Standard' and 'Credibility Problem' at DOJ - CNS News

Grassley said the IG report confirms what the American people have suspected: "Hillary Clinton got the kid glove treatment. The contrast to Russia probe is very stark. The biggest difference, of course, is the appointment of a Special Counsel. Attorney General Lynch refused to appoint one."

Under Lynch, Comey drafted a public exoneration of Clinton before 17 key witnesses were interviewed. Under Rosenstein, no one seriously thinks Robert Mueller would plan a press conference to exonerate Trump before his investigative work is done. Under Lynch, a low-level I.T. worker lied to the FBI twice about destroying records under subpoena and got immunity.

Under Rosenstein, a low-level Trump campaign associate provided the wrong date for conversation with a professor and got charged with lying to the FBI. Under Lynch, Clinton's lawyers and aides who improperly held classified information got carefully crafted agreements to limit searches of their computers by consent. Under Rosenstein, Trump's lawyers and former aides got raided and hauled before grand juries.

The Justice Department faces a serious credibility problem, because millions of American suspect that there is a double standard. They see a story of kid-glove treatment for one side and bare knuckle tactics for the other. Grassley also noted that it wasn't just Hillary Clinton using a private email account to conduct official business -- so did former FBI Director James Comey on occasion, although he did not transmit classified information as Clinton did. And Grassley noted it wasn't just Deputy FBI Director Andy McCabe who was leaking to the press -- "so were dozens of others at all levels of the FBI."

"Director Wray has quite a mess to clean up, I think he probably knows that," Grassley said. "The Department has serious accountability issues." Grassley said the IG report should be a step in the right direction, "but consequences must follow." (Read more)

- Father, we ask for continued exposure of malfeasance throughout all government agencies. Most of all we pray for accountability and removal of those who have misused their positions of authority.

- Therefore disaster will overtake him in an instant; he will suddenly be destroyed-without remedy. (Proverbs 6:15)

4. Trump's New Health Initiative Will Spell Relief for Americans - Daily Signal

This week, the Trump administration is moving forward with significant regulatory relief for millions of Americans seeking more affordable health coverage and better choices than they can get under Obamacare. The Department of Labor, pursuant to President Donald Trump's October 2017 executive order, has just published a final rule to enable small businesses to more easily join together and form association health plans. The new rule would apply to sole proprietors, the self-employed, or persons owning their own businesses, allowing them to take advantage of these plan offerings.

Authorized under federal law, the rules governing association health plans are the same rules that exist today that enforce consumer protections in large group, or corporate health insurance. Persons with a pre-existing medical condition, for example, cannot be denied coverage, and federally regulated association health plans cannot drop persons from their coverage because they get sick, or charge them higher premiums because they have a pre-existing condition.

The market, driven by resurgent choice and competition, will determine whether enrollment or cost reductions are either modest or robust. In either case, persons will be able to keep Obamacare if they like it, or get the insurance they want at lower costs.

Relief cannot come soon enough. Millions of Americans are struggling with Obamacare's skyrocketing health insurance costs, declining choice and competition, and narrower networks of doctors and medical specialists. While liberals in Congress want to prop up Obamacare with more regulations and bigger taxpayer subsidies, Trump is offering Americans a way out. (Read more)

- Father, so many Americans need the safety net of reliable, affordable healthcare. We pray this initiative will be successful and help many families meet their healthcare needs.

- Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers. (3 John 1:2)

5. US withdraws from UN Human Rights Council as Haley decries 'cesspool of political bias' - Fox News

The Trump administration announced Tuesday it was withdrawing the U.S. from the United Nations Human Rights Council, with U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley calling the 47-member council "a protector of human rights abusers, and a cesspool of political bias."

Haley noted the move came after a year where "we did not see any progress."

Haley threatened the pullout last year, citing longstanding U.S. complaints that the council showed a "chronic bias" against Israel. Calling it "an organization that is not worthy of its name," Haley decried the membership of countries like China, Cuba and Venezuela -- which also have been slammed for human-rights violations. (Read more)

- Father, we thank You for the leadership of Ambassador Haley and Secretary Pompeo. We pray their decision exit the UN Human Rights Council will draw attention to the lack of justice within this body.

- Do not pervert justice; do not show partiality to the poor or favoritism to the great, but judge your neighbor fairly. (Leviticus 19:15)

6. Supreme Court declines to stop political gerrymandering - Washington Times

The Supreme Court declined Monday to overturn Wisconsin's heavily gerrymandered legislative districts, saying the plaintiffs didn't do enough to prove they had standing to bring the lawsuit. The decision amounts to a punt on one of the most closely watched cases of the year, leaving for another day the big questions of how much partisanship is allowed when legislatures draw their maps.

Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr., writing for the court, said it wasn't enough to claim that Wisconsin's districts were drawn to favor one party or another. The plaintiffs needed to prove they individually were unable to vote for a credible candidate of their choice because of the gerrymander. "It is a case about group political interests, not individual legal rights. But this court is not responsible for vindicating generalized partisan preferences," Justice Roberts wrote.

Jessica Levinson, a professor at Loyola Law School Los Angeles, said the ruling will narrow the number of people who can challenge maps. "As a result, the court's nondecision, decision on procedural grounds will allow the party controlling state legislatures to entrench their own power. This will likely harm voters, who are at the mercy of their lawmakers' extreme partisan gerrymanders," she said. (Read more)

- Father, we lift up our electoral system to You and pray for accuracy in the upcoming census and fairness in the appropriation of representation.

- You must have accurate and honest weights and measures, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you. (Deuteronomy 25:15)

7. IT'S HAPPENING: The Obama-Holder Progressive Left Counter-Offensive - Daily Caller

Former President Barack Obama and former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder have planned - and are leading - a massive counter-offensive to give the progressive left faction of the Democratic Party control of key state legislative bodies and state supreme courts in time for congressional redistricting after the 2020 census. If they are successful, Democrats could well control the U.S. House of Representatives for the decade of the 20s and have in place a progressive left farm team from which to draw leftist national leaders for many years beyond.

The Obama-Holder led effort is on pace to exponentially outraise and outspend Republicans this November and again in 2020. Holder's National Democratic Redistricting Committee alone already has raised its goal from $30 million to $40 million in new funds this cycle. Their targets are legislative and judicial races in about a dozen key battleground states including Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Nevada, North Carolina and Florida.

Among the groups spawned to help this scheme, Forward Majority announced it would spend $100 million to spend on targeted legislative races in the same key states in the 2018 and 2020 election cycles. The Center for Popular Democracy Action announced it will raise and spend an additional $80 million mobilizing progressives and will target six state legislatures. Additional funding will continue to come from unions, trial lawyers, Planned Parenthood, George Soros, Tom Steyer and others.

The Obama-Holder progressive left counter-offensive is real. Unless Republican and business leaders wake up and take action to confront it with a plan, leadership and adequate resources it could succeed and end the America of individual liberty and free enterprise upon which this nation was founded. (Read more)

- Father, the motives of these men are for power and control over the people - not to serve them. We pray their plans will not succeed and their money will be wasted. We pray for true servants to lead our people.

- Jesus called them together and said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant.
(Matthew 20:25-26)

8. 20 weeks out from midterms, Dems and GOP brace for surprises - The Hill

Twenty weeks before November's midterm elections, Democrats and Republicans are cautiously eyeing a fluid political landscape, one that is likely to be dramatically altered by outside forces in the weeks and months ahead. Almost half of voters, 48 percent, say they would be more likely to cast a ballot for a candidate who promises to be a check on Trump, while just 31 percent say they would be more likely to back a candidate who supports Trump most of the time, according to an NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll out last week. Voters in that survey said they were less likely to vote for a candidate who backed Trump's immigration policies or the GOP tax-reform bill.

"The landscape has moderated in our favor fairly significantly over the last couple of months. We're in a highly volatile environment right now, so we think this has the potential to bounce around between now and the election," said Matt Walter, who heads the Republican State Leadership Committee.

The battle for control of the Senate is even more complex because so many Democrats are defending seats in deep-red states. Polls since the beginning of April show Democratic candidates ahead in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia and Missouri, and in Republican-held states like Tennessee and Arizona. Republicans lead in Florida, Indiana and Nevada, where Sen. Dean Heller (R) faces a difficult reelection fight. No reliable surveys have come out in Michigan, Wisconsin, North Dakota or Montana, four other Trump states with Democratic incumbents. (Read more)

- Father, we pray Your active, redemptive power will turn all things in this election to the good of those who love and serve You.

- And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)

9. 6 Revelations From 'The Swamp' Documentary That Show Just How Dirty DC Is - The Federalist

Every grassroots political activist knows something is deeply wrong in Washington, D.C. No matter how hard we work to send good people to Congress, the majority of them go native upon arrival, forgetting their campaign rhetoric and falling in line with the political establishment. The few who retain their principles often seem sidelined and ineffective. Meanwhile, the legislative process is an unfunny joke: the Republican Congress can't manage to keep its promises and repeal Obamacare, but it can pass a 2,232-page, $1.3 trillion omnibus spending bill without reading it.

What's less clear is why the system is so broken, and what happens to turn our hometown congressmen into swamp critters. What is going on in those smoke-filled rooms? When brand-new representatives and senators arrive in D.C., what do they find? A new documentary series, "The Swamp," seeks to answer those questions, pulling back the curtain on the inner workings of Capitol Hill. (Read more)

- Father, this documentary highlights many of the systemic problems in our government. These problems are too big for us to solve without Your divine help. Lord, intervene, and reestablish the foundations of good government we once had.

- Perhaps the Lord will look on my affliction and return good to me instead of his cursing this day. (2 Samuel 16:12)

10. Congressional Approval 19%, Trump Approval 45% - CNSNews.com

A new Gallup poll shows that less than 1 in 5 Americans, 19%, approve of Congress; President Trump's approval rating currently is at 45%. In the survey taken between June 1-13, Gallup asked, "Do you approve or disapprove of the way Congress is handling its job?" From the 1,520 adults surveyed, 19% of Americans said they approved of Congress while 76% said they disapproved of Congress.

From separate data, Gallup reported that President Trump's approval rating has increased over the past months, from 30% in January to 40% in May, to the current approval rating of 45%. (Read more)

- Father God, we pray that Congress will be able to move forward and pass many laws that are now pending. May they become as productive as President Trump has been in meeting the goals they wish to accomplish. Amen.

- "If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it." (John 14:14)

The Daily Jot

Discerning news and prophecy

A Pew Research Center poll of 5,035 American adults found that only 26% could correctly discern facts from opinions in news stories. Furthermore, according to Pew, Americans were likely to think that facts were accurate. Those who identified opinions as fact did so from the basis of their belief system, such as political or religious beliefs. Many Christians also do the same with Bible interpretation and prophecy. Many believe that since things are so morally out of alignment with scriptures in our country that the Lord "must" be returning soon. The Holy Scriptures are very specific about the time and events of the Lord's return. Even as between news facts and opinions, we must discern scripture responsibly.

According to the Apostle Paul, several distinct things must happen before the Lord returns. He writes in 2 Thessalonians 2:2-3, "That you be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God." This is very clear: 1) don't be deceived, 2) falling away, 3) antichrist (beast) revealed, 4) sits in the temple as God.

He also writes in 1 Thessalonians 4:15-16, "For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first." So 5) Lord returns with a shout, 6) dead in Christ rise first, 7) saints remaining on earth meet him in the air. This is consistent with Biblical prophecies written about the return of Christ. There is no mention of the stock market or the US political situation, although these things may have a role in moving the prophetic clock forward and are interesting side stories.

We, as saints in these days and as watchmen and teachers, must be responsible in how we explain these events. We must be discerning and careful to not overstate their significance, use inflammatory language, or to tie Biblical absolutes to our subjective opinion in order to advance personal viewpoints. Be careful not to be driven by intrigue or fear, or to be led astray by false doctrine. Be as those in Berea from Acts 17:11, "These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so." The prophetic must align with scripture. Crying wolf too many times can cause many to stumble. Let us discern responsibly.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

FAIREST LORD JESUS

"Who is this . . . fair as the moon, bright as the sun, majestic as the stars?" (Song of Solomon 6:10)

Lyrics

1 Beautiful Savior, King of creation,
Son of God and Son of Man!
Truly I'd love Thee, truly I'd serve thee,
Light of my soul, my Joy, my Crown.

2 Fair are the meadows, Fair are the woodlands,
Robed in flow'rs of blooming spring;
Jesus is fairer, Jesus is purer;
He makes our sorr'wing spirit sing.

3 Fair is the sunshine, Fair is the moonlight,
Bright the sparkling stars on high;
Jesus shines brighter, Jesus shines purer
Than all the angels in the sky.

4 Beautiful Savior, Lord of the nations,
Son of God and Son of Man!
Glory and honor, Praise, adoration,
Now and forevermore be Thine!

Signs and Wonders

Giant Horror Plant That Causes 3rd Degree Burns Has Spread
to Yet Another US State

If Hollywood wanted to make a movie about a horrifying plant invasion, giant hogweeds would make a great candidate for the lead role - they are absolutely massive, incredibly toxic, and readily spread wherever their seeds take root.

Listed as a noxious weed in at least eight states, last week the giant hogweed (Heracleum mantegazzianum) was spotted in Virginia for the first time.

According to reports from the Massey Herbarium at Virginia Tech university, about 30 of these towering plants have been found in Clarke County, and locals are warned to keep an eye out for sightings.

Native to the Caucasus region, the statuesque plant looks like a huge mutant version of the benign common hogweed - but it can cause severe skin burns if you so much as brush against the bristles on its stalks.

Those bristles, along with the rest of the plant, emit a nasty sap that chemically irritates the skin causing phototoxicity - severe damage to the skin through exposure to sunlight and UV rays.

As a result, one can get huge, oozing blisters that can leave behind scars and photosensitivity for many years. But unless you're familiar with its nasty secret, you might think the giant hogweed looks cool - these large plants can grow more than 4 metres (14 feet) tall, spreading their huge leaves and producing massive umbrella-shaped clusters of white flowers.
After Britain first made the mistake in the 19th century, as an "ornamental" garden plant it was also introduced to North America just a few decades later, and since then it's been a battle to stop the flowering monster's march across the continent. . . (Read more)

The Good News Corner

In Belfast, Northern Ireland, Former Enemies Literally Raise the Cross in Unity Over Their Murderous Past

The war between Republican Catholics and Unionist Protestants ended in Northern Ireland 20 years ago, but true peace remains elusive.

'Fortress' Church Welcomes Mortal Enemies

New Life City Church sits squarely on Belfast's so-called "peace barrier"; part of its building in Catholic Belfast, part of it in Protestant Belfast. It welcomes those from both communities, including those who were once mortal enemies.

"Among those that come into our church regularly, Sunday after Sunday, are those who are from terrorist backgrounds who at one time would have wanted to kill each other, says New Life City Church Senior Pastor Jack McKee, "There was a time when I would have killed some of them I was a soldier."
No Other Church Like It in the World

It's one thing to preach peace and reconciliation. It's another thing to put your church on the borderline between forces that want to kill each other. McKee's church, which he pastors with his son Johnny, sits like a fortress in the middle of it all.

"I don't think there is a building quite like this in the world ..." says Lead Pastor Johnny McKee, "... where you have had two opposing communities-two opposing people groups-who have literally killed each other by the thousands." (Read more)

We are delighted to make this "hidden treasure" available to all of you who make up our CHPP family.

You can also view their daily prayer calendar by going here.

The following press release was issued by the Salt and Light Council. Praise the Lord!

This is a 30 minute national conference prayer call offered Monday through Saturday. We pray daily for our President, Cabinet, Supreme Court, one or two state legislatures, preambles, plus a moral topic and Israel. All are welcome to participate in prayer for our nation. Fellowship and Bible reading is optional for those who would like to remain on the line. The call is hosted by The Salt & Light Council.
