1. Netanyahu: Islamic terrorism is flooding the world from Jakarta to California - Jerusalem Post

The terrorism Israel is currently facing is the same as the Islamic terrorism plaguing the world, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday after visiting the border policewoman wounded in Wednesday's attack in Jerusalem that killed her 19-year-old comrade Hadar Cohen.

His words come against the backdrop of comments coming from some quarters around the world saying that the terrorism in Israel is different from Islamic terrorism other countries are facing, as it is the result of "Palestinian frustration."

"Islamic terrorism is inundating the world and inciting millions in many countries, from Jakarta to Africa to California," the prime minister said at Hadassah-University Medical Center, on Jerusalem's Mount Scopus, where he also visited a soldier who was wounded in an attack near Beit El earlier this week. "We are part of this turmoil, it is not skipping over us, and we are fighting it with great strength and will continue to do so," he said. (Read more)

2. Israeli Arab MK's met with terrorists' families- Jerusalem Online

Three Israeli Arab MKs from the Joint List Party met this week with the families of terrorists in East Jerusalem. In a conversation with Channel 2 News, MK Basel Ghattas explained that the meeting was initiated by the families, which asked for assistance in transferring the bodies of 10 terrorists to their custody.(Read more)

3. Knesset Committee will discuss the meeting between Arab MKs and families of terrorists - Jerusalem Online

The Knesset Committee is scheduled to meet next week in order to request that the Israeli Attorney General open an investigation into the meeting between Israeli Arab MKs from the Arab Joint List political party and family members of terrorists. The committee will probably request that the Attorney General check if there was any criminal action in the MKs' behavior.

Some members of the committee have already stated that they will be requesting that the Attorney General remove the MKs' immunity and bring them to trial. Sources within the committee sighted that MK Hanin Zoabi, who was convicted of insulting a public official, was suspended for several months from the Knesset. According to the sources, this course of action was appropriate and they would be pleased with the same course of action regarding this current incident. (Read more)

4. Slain policewoman, 19, hailed as heroine at her funeral - Times of Israel

Hundreds of people gathered Thursday afternoon for the funeral of Hadar Cohen, a border policewoman who was killed by Palestinian attackers in a stabbing and shooting attack outside Jerusalem's Old City a day earlier.

Police said the 19-year-old, who was shot in the head by one of the Palestinian gunmen, managed to return fire before losing consciousness, helping to thwart a potentially worse attack by the three assailants.

Joined by Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan and Israel Police Chief Roni Alsheich at the funeral, in the military cemetery in Yehud outside Tel Aviv, friends and family praised Cohen's heroism.(Read more)

5. Syria Talks Are Suspended - New York Times

GENEVA - The United Nations on Wednesday temporarily suspended the fledgling talks aimed at ending the war in Syria and called on the countries fueling the conflict to do more to yield results, as Syrian government forces sharply escalated an offensive on a strategic rebel-held city.

2. Bioethics center says Britain moving toward genetically modified babies - National Catholic Reporter

A Catholic bioethics institute has accused the British government of moving toward the creation of genetically modified babies after scientists were given permission to alter the DNA of embryos in experimentation.

"Experiments to edit the genes of human embryos represent a further step towards the creation of GM babies," said a Feb. 1 statement by David Jones, director of Anscombe. Read more

~O Lord, our Creator, we bring this matter to you regarding the production of "genetically modified babies". It seems man keeps trying to attain the level of God, and pull You down to our level. We ask that they never succeed in creating these babies, and how could they have a soul? Only You can do that. Reveal Yourself as the almighty Creator to them we pray, Amen.

- "Then Adonai, God, formed a person from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils, the breath of life, so that he became a living being." (Genesis 2:7)

3. Obama reinstates 'catch-and-release' policy for illegal immigrants - Washington Times

The Obama administration has revived the maligned illegal immigrant "catch-and-release" policy of the Bush years, ordering Border Patrol agents not to bother arresting and deporting many new illegal immigrants, the head of the agents' labor union revealed Thursday.

Brandon Judd, president of the National Border Patrol Council, told Congress that Homeland Security was embarrassed by the number of illegal immigrants not showing up for their deportation hearings, but instead of cracking down on the immigrants, the department ordered agents not to arrest them in the first place - meaning they no longer need to show up for court.

- Father, we pray for the Border Patrol Agents who are frustrated with the system. Strengthen and encourage them. In Jesus Name. Provide us with strong leaders who can solve this border problem.

- Fear thou not; for I [am] with thee: be not dismayed; for I [am] thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. (Isaiah 41:10)

4. Obama at National Prayer Breakfast: 'Faith is the great cure for fear' - CNNPolitics.com

President Barack Obama addressed the National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, speaking about the need to overcome fear through faith, just one day after making a historic visit to a Baltimore mosque where he delivered a message of religious inclusivity.

"Fear can lead us to lash out against those who are different or lead us to try to get some sinister 'other' under control," said Obama, making a veiled reference to divisive rhetoric on the presidential campaign trail. "Alternatively, fear can lead us to succumb to despair or paralysis or cynicism," he said. "Fear can feed our most selfish impulses and erode the bonds of community." However, he said, "Faith is the great cure for fear."

Obama also praised faith groups for their work on a variety of issues, from combating trafficking to welcoming and supporting refugees, and celebrated the return of pastor Saeed Abedini, who was recently released from an Iranian prison. "Last year we prayed that he might be freed and this year we give thanks that he is home safe," said Obama.

House Speaker Paul Ryan spoke about "a growing impatience with prayer in our culture. You see it in the papers or on Twitter," said Ryan. "When people say they're praying for someone or something, the attitude in some quarters seems to be, 'Don't just pray; do something about it.' . . . "But the thing is, when you are praying, you are doing something about it," he said. (Read entire article here.)

~Father, we thank You that this prayer breakfast was well attended, and many spoke and prayed. We thank you that Obama came and spoke. We ask, Lord, that he would have a personal encounter with You, and give His heart to You. We ask, Lord, for the continued status of this nation, as a Christian nation, to bring glory to You. In Jesus Name we pray, Amen.

-"Then if My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves, if they will pray and seek Me and stop their evil ways, I will hear them from heaven. I will forgive their sin,and heal their land." (2 Chronicles 7:14)

The Daily Jot

Friday, February 5, 2016 Islamic Society of Baltimore, Really?

The "president" visited an Islamic center/mosque this week whose parent organization, the Islamic Society of America, is a co-partner with the Muslim Brotherhood and named as a key player in its plan to colonize America and "sabotage its miserable house from within" and create "civilization jihad" through the establishment of Islamic centers across the country. The visit was one thing, but some of the things he said while he was there are quite disturbing and offensive. Yet his press secretary upheld the "president's" words and visit in a way that positioned anyone who would speak against it as someone who is bigoted, prejudiced, against peace, essentially unAmerican.

The occupant of the Oval Office said, "So let's start with this fact: For more than a thousand years, people have been drawn to Islam's message of peace. And the very word itself, Islam, comes from salam -- peace. The standard greeting is as-salamu alaykum -- peace be upon you. And like so many faiths, Islam is rooted in a commitment to compassion and mercy and justice and charity." Really? This religion of terror, Islam, is the foremost propagator of human rights violations in the world. It foments sex trafficking, drug trade, and slavery as standard practices. The vast majority of barbarism and terrorism conducted around the world is done in the name of Islam. This is not peace. Its history is one of death and destruction.

He continued: "Here's another fact: Islam has always been part of America. Starting in colonial times, many of the slaves brought here from Africa were Muslim." In reality, it was Islam that sold Africans into slavery by conquering their tribes and marching them to slave castles such as the one in Cape Coast, Ghana. There they were sold and shipped off to the West. This is diligently documented at the museum in Cape Coast. Moreover, Islam's history with the US was underscored by Thomas Jefferson commissioning the US Navy to fight the Islamic Barbary Pirates because they were attacking our ships, and selling our men, women and children into slavery. This "president's" history is fabricated, blatantly false.

To his credit, he told the group that Muslims need to speak against terrorism. This, however, is a matter of definition. Most terrorists do not believe what they do is terrorism, but rather fighting for a cause. This "president" has repeatedly shown his support for Islam in so many ways. Most Muslims are not terrorists, but if they read and understood their Koran, they would know they are instructed to kill infidels, specifically Christians and Jews. The "president" is misguided. As Jesus said in Matthew 7:20, "Why by their fruits you shall know them." And, by now, we should know him. At the same time, we as Christians should not miss the opportunity to show God's love to Muslims. We are commanded to share the good news with all. Some are beyond accepting the true Prince of Peace, but it is the Lord's will that not one should perish.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

A Self-governed Kurdish Region would Kill Christianity in Syria According to Assyrian Expert

A delegation from the international coalition against the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL), led by an Obama administration envoy, reportedly told Kurds in northern Syria that they have a "right" to an autonomous region during a recent visit to the country.

The U.K.-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), a group that uses a network of sources on the ground to monitor the Syrian conflict, reports that President Obama's envoy to the anti-ISIS coalition, Brett McGurk, "promised" that a new Syrian constitution would recognize the Kurdish right to self-govern territory in the northern part of the country.

Retired U.S. Lt. Col. Sargis Sangari, a decorated Iraq war veteran who served 20 years in the Army, told Breitbart News that, as it stands now, the region being promised to the Kurds includes all Christian Assyrian villages in the country.

Songs Our Grandmothers Sang:

WHEN THE ROLL IS CALLED UP YONDER

"I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened." (Revelation 20:12)

Lyrics

When the trumpet of the Lord shall sound, and time shall be no more, And the morning breaks, eternal, bright and fair; When the saved of earth shall gather over on the other shore, And the roll is called up yonder, I'll be there.

Refrain When the roll, is called up yon-der,
When the roll, is called up yon-der,
When the roll, is called up yon-der,
When the roll is called up yonder I'll be there.

On that bright and cloudless morning when the dead in Christ shall rise, And the glory of His resurrection share; When His chosen ones shall gather to their home beyond the skies, And the roll is called up yonder, I'll be there.

Refrain

Let us labor for the Master from the dawn till setting sun, Let us talk of all His wondrous love and care; Then when all of life is over, and our work on earth is done, And the roll is called up yonder, I'll be there.

Words & Music: James M. Black, 1893

About the Hymn:

Black, a Methodist Sunday school teacher in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, was calling roll one day for a youth meeting. Young Bessie, daughter of a drunkard, did not show up, and he was disappointed at her failure to appear. Black made a comment to the effect, "Well, I trust when the roll is called up yonder, she'll be there." He tried to respond with an appropriate song, but could not find one in his song book . . .

This lack of a fitting song caused me both sorrow and disappointment. An inner voice seemed to say, "Why don't you write one?" I put away the thought. As I opened the gate on my way home, the same thought came again so strongly that tears filled my eyes. I entered the house and sat down at the piano. The words came to me effortlessly . . . The tune came the same way-I dared not change a single note or word.

U.S. Quake Warning System Could Save Lives When Seconds Count

Scientists still can't predict an earthquake. The U.S. government, however, has a warning system in the works that it hopes could quickly send out a widespread alarm before most people feel a rumble - and save lives when seconds count.

The recently upgraded network of seismometers and computers, known as ShakeAlert, is advancing through the prototype-testing stage, Sally Jewell, secretary of the U.S. Department of the Interior, said at a news conference Tuesday. When fully operational, she said, ShakeAlert will have "the ability to provide notice to people before that earthquake strikes." Getting to that point will still take a lot of work , according to Peggy Hellweg, one of the system's creators and a seismologist at the University of California, Berkeley, in the heart of quake country.

The goal is to send an alert almost instantly. Up until now the system has simply been too slow - "not good enough to do the job for all of the earthquakes that we expect in California and the Pacific Northwest," Hellweg told me when I called.

When a quake hits, the first of many seismic waves that rocket through the Earth is called a P wave. It doesn't do the major damage - that comes from later waves. But it carries information about the quake. Seismic sensors can detect that P wave and relay the information to computers. The computers calculate where the quake hit and how big it is. Then they send out warnings.

Unfortunately, all this can take up to dozens of seconds, losing valuable time for people to duck, cover and hold on before the later, damaging waves - S waves - get to where the people are.

"We want to be able to tell people, 'There's this big earthquake, it's happening, and it's going to affect your area,' " Hellweg said.

That's what ShakeAlert is all about. Federal officials say the upgraded system - with more sensors and more, faster computers - should cut that processing time to just a few seconds, at most. (NPR) Read more.

Victory! Christian Festival Wins Fight to Sing Name of 'Jesus' in Toronto Square

(Toronto)-Voices of the Nations has won the right to hold its annual music festival in Toronto's Yonge-Dundas Square, after a dispute blew up last October when the square's management refused the Christian organization a permit on the grounds it had previously proselytized in contravention of a city bylaw.

"I believe it's a victory for all Christians," Voices of the Nations' director Peter Ruparelia told LifeSiteNews, likening the fight to a "David and Goliath" struggle. (Read more)
