1. Obama Administration to Appeal Ruling Against Day of Prayer - AP

The Obama administration will appeal a court decision that found the National Day of Prayer unconstitutional.

A federal judge in Wisconsin has ruled the National Day of Prayer that Congress established 58 years ago amounts to a call for religious action. About two dozen members of Congress have condemned the ruling and pressed for an appeal.

In a notice filed Thursday, the Justice Department said it will challenge the decision in the U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago.

President Obama is the principal defendant in the lawsuit. The case was brought by atheists and agnostics who argue that the National Day of Prayer violates the separation of church and state. The administration says the law simply acknowledges the role of religion in the United States.

- We praise God for this great victory, and we stand in the place of alignment and of blessing of President Obama in this decision. May our Lord grace each attorney within the DOJ who will be preparing to file this appeal with His wisdom in doing so. In Jesus' Name, amen.

2. Graham Booted From Pentagon Prayer Event - AOL News; Fox News

Evangelist Franklin Graham said Thursday that he regrets the Army's decision to rescind its invitation to him for the Pentagon's National Day of Prayer service on May 6, but expressed "strong support" for the U.S. military. An Army spokesman confirmed to Fox News that the invitation to Graham to be honorary chairman at the event was rescinded amid complaints from Muslim members of the military about his description of Islam as an evil religion. The Army spokesman said the event will go forward but without the National Day of Prayer Task Force participating. Read more

- Brother Graham has been cast in to the Den of Lions for standing up for Jesus Christ of Nazareth. It is called persecution of the saints. That this should happen to the son of Billy Graham in the United States of America is a sign of the end times and the persecution of the church. - "All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any god or man for thirty days, except of you, o king, he shall be cast into the den of lions. Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which alters not. Wherefore king Darius signed the writing and the decree. Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he always had done. Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God. They came near, and spoke before the king concerning the king's decree." (Daniel 6:4-6)

3. Report says health care will cover more, cost more - AP

Obama's health care overhaul law is getting a mixed verdict in the first comprehensive look by neutral experts: More Americans will be covered, but costs are also going up. Economic experts at the Health and Human Services Department concluded in a report issued Thursday that the health care remake will achieve Obama's aim of expanding health insurance - adding 34 million to the coverage rolls.

- Lord, you are the bread of life; in you we put our trust, and we thank you for revealing all things known in this health care bill. The costs for those to afford insurance was only a disguise to gain control of health care on a national level. Forgive us Lord as we steal the truth from the poor.

- Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterward his mouth shall be filled with gravel. Every purpose is established by counsel and with good advise make war. (Proverbs 20: 17, 18)

4. Tackling oil rig disaster 'number one priority'Obama - AP

Obama has said that dealing with Tuesday's oil rig disaster in the Gulf of Mexico is a "number one priority". The government was providing "all assistance needed" in the rescue effort off Louisiana, and in mitigating any environmental impact, he said. The Deepwater Horizon sank after a blast, leaving 11 workers missing.

- Pray that the families are comforted in the Lord during this time of searching for the missing workers. Lord, we know the land needs your mercy, and the people need your mighty hand.

- O give thanks unto the Lord for he is good for His mercy endureth forever. (Psalm 107: 1) They go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great water; these see the works of the Lord and his wonders in the deep. ( Psalm 107: 23, 24)

5. 'Perfect storm' sets stage for widespread doubt - One News Now

A conservative political scientist and historian says a recent poll showing that 80 percent of Americans mistrust Washington doesn't bode well for the Democrats in the 2010 midterm elections.

- Pray for the unity of our nation to return. Let our nation bring honor and glory back to our God. As the days draw near, we pray eyes are opened and ears will hear, and the standard of TRUTH will again be the measuring tool used in the hearts of people.

- They gather themselves together against the soul of righteous and condemn the innocent blood. But the Lord is my defense; and my God is the rock of my refuge. And He shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness, yea, the Lord our God shall cut them off. ( Psalm 94: 21 - 23)

6. Potentially deadly fungus spreading in US, Canada - AP

A potentially deadly strain of fungus is spreading among animals and people in the northwestern United States and the Canadian province of British Columbia, researchers reported on Thursday. The airborne fungus, called Cryptococcus gattii, usually only infects transplant and AIDS patients and people with otherwise compromised immune systems, but the new strain is genetically different, the researchers said.

- We speak protection, and the healing power of the Lord, to stop the spread of this strain of fungus.

- For he healed many, inasmuch as they pressed upon him for to touch him, as many as had plagues. And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God. (Mark 3: 11,12)

1. Netanyahu ready to agree to Palestinian state within temporary borders - Ha'aretz

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is amenable to an interim agreement in the West Bank that would include the establishment of a Palestinian state within temporary borders.

2. Biden: Iran sanctions soon, Israeli strike unlikely - Ynet News

Vice President Joe Biden said on Thursday he expects new UN sanctions on Iran by late April or early May and dismissed the notion that Israel might attack the Islamic Republic before first allowing sanctions to take their course.

3. US 'disappointed' with Israel, Palestinians - Ynet News

US National Security Advisor James Jones said Wednesday that his country was disappointed that Israel and the Palestinians have not begun direct negotiations.

4. Israel won't strike Iran without US - Jerusalem Post

Vice President Joe Biden said Thursday that Israel would not attack Iran without consulting the United States and that Jerusalem clearly saw sanctions as the next step to deal with Teheran's nuclear program.

Before you leave for church this Sunday morning, please take a few minutes to watch Congressman Forbes' interview at 8:30AM (EST) on CNN's "Faces of Faith." He will be discussing the ruling which held that the statute establishing the National Day of Prayer violates the Establishment Clause. He will be joined by Annie Laurie Gaylor, Co-Founder and Co-President of the Freedom From Religion Foundation, the organization that brought this lawsuit.

On Wednesday of this week, Congressman Forbes joined 30 Members of Congress and spokesmen from faith organizations representing millions of people across the country, for a bi-partisan press conference to directly respond to the decision of one unelected judge to substitute her own opinion for what the Constitution says and protects. Throughout our nation's history, prayer and religion have been deeply woven into the foundation of our great democracy. The federal judge's decision to call the National Day of Prayer unconstitutional represents a movement we are seeing across the country of a small minority who want to exclude faith, religion, and morality from the marketplace of ideas.

A Nation Gone Under?

The assault on America's religious heritage continues. The Army has rescinded Franklin Graham's invitation to speak at a Pentagon National Day of Prayer event. According to the Associated Press, "Muslim employees at the Pentagon were offended by the invitation."

In response to this news, National Day of Prayer Chairman Shirley Dobson issued a statement, saying, "It is time to say, 'Enough is enough.' America is engulfed in bloody wars on two fronts, where men and women are fighting and dying for the cause of liberty. They need, and deserve, the prayers of people of faith during their time of sacrifice. We ask the American people to defend the right to pray in the Pentagon. We can be silent no more."

Wednesday, Rep. Randy Forbes (R-VA) organized a press conference attended by more than two dozen members of Congress in defense of the National Day of Prayer. Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA), a co-sponsor of the bill Ronald Reagan signed designating the first Thursday in May as the National Day of Prayer, said, "What brings us together today is a misguided court decision which threatens the longstanding tradition of this country. I urge the Obama administration to appeal this decision and to dedicate the best and brightest minds of the Justice Department to this case."

Today, the Justice Department announced that it would appeal the decision. As Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX) said, "What's next? Declaring the federal holiday for Christmas unconstitutional?"

Unfortunately, this is the same Justice Department that has called for the Defense of Marriage Act to be overturned and that dropped the 2008 voter intimidation case against the Black Panthers.

When the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia reached an impasse, Benjamin Franklin exhorted the delegates to prayer. Ronald Reagan warned us, "If we ever forget that we're one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under."

My friends, Shirley Dobson is right. Men and women of faith must speak up and get involved in the public policy debates that are impacting our liberty. And that means getting involved in the political arena. The Left sees politics as its religion and government as its god. Liberals are literally tithing to scores of leftwing candidates and causes. Miracle at Eilat (Israel)

Rockets Fired at Eilat, Land in Jordan

After two hours of conflicting reports, it has been ascertained that one or two rockets were fired at Eilat, but did not land there.

Shortly before 11:00 this morning, two or three explosions were heard in Eilat, and reports of rockets fired from Jordan or the Sinai at the southern port city began to surface. The reports took on various shames and forms, and nearly every permutation of Kassams and Katyushas fired from Jordan and Sinai towards Eilat was reported until around 1 PM, when the army finally announced that no findings of rocket blasts had been located in the city.

It then began to become clear that rockets had landed in the Jordanian city of Aqaba, adjacent to Eilat. Egypt denied that missiles had been over-shot from its territory, while a Jordanian security source soon announced that the rockets had been under-shot from within Jordanian territory, not reaching their target of Eilat.

An official Jordanian government spokesman said only that an explosion had occurred in a warehouse north of Aqaba, causing damage but no casualties.

Israel has been officially at peace with Jordan since 1994, though King Abdullah recently said that his country was better off economically before it signed the peace agreement with Israel. "Our relationship with Israel is at an all-bottom low," he added. (Israel National News)

Jury Clears Navy SEAL in Iraq Abuse Case

A U.S. military jury cleared a Navy SEAL Thursday of failing to prevent the beating of an Iraqi prisoner suspected of masterminding a 2004 attack that killed four American security contractors. Petty Officer 1st Class Julio Huertas was found not guilty of charges of dereliction of duty and attempting to influence the testimony of another service member. Full Story (Military.com)

1. US military jury clears SEAL in Iraq abuse case - AP

A U.S. military jury cleared a Navy SEAL Thursday of failing to prevent the beating of an Iraqi prisoner suspected of masterminding a 2004 attack that killed four American security contractors. The contractors' burned bodies were dragged through the streets and two were hanged from a bridge over the Euphrates river in the former insurgent hotbed of Fallujah, in what became a turning point in the Iraq war. The trial of three SEALs, the Navy's elite special forces unit, in the abuse case has outraged many Americans who see it as coddling terrorists.

- Lord, thank You for this verdict! While we pray that restraint and wisdom will be part of all military actions, we ask that they be allowed to do their jobs without the constant threat of arrest.

- "O You, his strength, I will wait for You. For God is my defense. My merciful God shall come to meet me; God shall let me see my desire on my enemies." (Psalm 59: 9-10)

2. a)Obama to ask CEOs to abandon 'furious efforts' to block financial overhaul - Washington Post

President Obama will travel to New York on Thursday to call on financial executives to abandon their "furious efforts" to block a financial regulation overhaul bill by hiring an army of lobbyists, according to planned remarks released by the White House. "I want to urge you to join us, instead of fighting us in this effort," Obama plans to say.

b) Senators close to a deal on financial regulation bill - Washington Post

Key members of both parties said Wednesday that they are close to agreeing on the main elements of a bill to overhaul the nation's financial regulations, raising the prospect that the Senate could begin formal discussion of the landmark legislation early next week.

- Lord, we bind the spirit of control that seeks to constantly exert itself over Congress and the people of America. We pray that financial executives will hear and respond to You and not to that spirit of control. Only You, Father, know what portions of this bill are good for America, as opposed to those which are dangerous precedents of government control.

- "The highway of the upright is to depart from evil; he who keeps his way preserves his soul. Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall." (Proverbs 16:17-18)

3. Obama Expresses Openness to New Value-Added Tax - AP

President Obama suggested Wednesday that a new value-added tax on Americans is still on the table, seeming to show more openness to the idea than his aides have expressed in recent days. Before deciding what revenue options are best for dealing with the deficit and the economy, Obama said in an interview with CNBC, "I want to get a better picture of what our options are." After Obama adviser Paul Volcker recently raised the prospect of a value-added tax, or VAT, the Senate voted 85-13 last week for a nonbinding "sense of the Senate" resolution that calls the such a tax "a massive tax increase that will cripple families on fixed income and only further push back America's economic recovery."

- Lord, we have prayed against the continual burden of more and more taxes. We plead for Your mercy and grace, and ask that You raise up leaders and citizens to stop it.

- "After this man, Judas of Galilee rose up in the days of taxing, and drew away much people after him. He also perished; and all, even as many who obeyed him were dispersed." (Acts 5:37)

4. Global recovery stronger than anticipated, IMF says - Washington Post

The world economy is rebounding from recession "better than we thought likely" and will expand by more than 4 percent this year, the International Monetary Fund's top economist says. The United States is projected to grow by 3.1 percent -- better than the 2.3 percent average growth projected by the IMF for the advanced economies.

- Father, we rejoice in this hopeful word from the IMF. We also are aware that hopeful words and reality are often hidden in the political/economic realm. We pray for truth, wisdom, and the intervention of Your Holy Spirit to bring about a true and stable economic recovery for the world financial systems.

- "Riches and honor are with me, enduring riches and righteousness." (Proverbs 8:18)

5. FBI Launches Inquiry into Massa Matter - Washington Post

Federal authorities have launched a public corruption investigation into events surrounding former Rep. Eric Massa (D-N.Y.), according to documents obtained by The Washington Post. The FBI and Justice Department prosecutors appear to be focusing their preliminary investigation on large payments Massa's campaign made last month to his top aide and to renew the lease for the congressman's personal car within days of his announcement he would not seek reelection.

- Lord, we ask that righteousness and justice be administered in this investigation. We pray that all hidden secrets within Congress be revealed, and integrity become the hallmark of our leadership.

- "Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne will be established in righteousness." (Proverbs 25:5)

6. a) North Korean torpedo 'sunk South Korean warship' - London Telegraph

South Korea's military believes a torpedo fired from a North Korean submarine sank its navy ship last month, based on intelligence gathered jointly with the United States.

b) Georgia confirms highly enriched uranium seizure, blames Russia - USA Today

The president of Georgia confirmed Wednesday that his country seized a shipment of highly enriched uranium, and blamed Russia for creating the instability that allows nuclear smugglers to operate in the region.

- Lord, as the world holds its focus on the Middle East and failing economies, other parts of the world are battling situations that could create disasters for us all. We ask that You intervene to stop escalation of attacks between North and South Korea, and the smuggling of nuclear technology from Russia. Let our leaders be aware and not blind-sighted by these situations!

- "Who brings forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power (they shall lie down together, they shall not rise; they are extinguished like a wick.)" (Isaiah 43:17)

1. Report: Netanyahu rejects US freeze demand - Ynet News

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu conveyed a message to US President Barak Obama last weekend according to which Israel rejects the US demand for a full construction freeze in east Jerusalem, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday, citing Washington diplomats.

2. Hariri: Scud reports like Iraq's WMDs - Jerusalem Post

Lebanon's Western-backed prime minister denied on Israeli allegations that Hizbullah obtained Scud missiles, comparing them to the false American charges that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction ahead of the 2003 US-led invasion.

3. U.S.: Israel-Palestinian peace failures strengthening Iran - Ha'aretz

U.S. President Barack Obama's administration said on Wednesday that progress toward Middle East peace would help thwart Iran's ambitions by preventing it from "cynically" using the conflict to divert attention from its nuclear program.

4. U.S. lawmaker: Obama should deal with Iran nukes, not criticize Israel - Ha'aretz

A prominent Republican member of Congress on Wednesday accused U.S. President Barack Obama of unfairly criticizing Israel for not signing on to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, rather than taking the time to deal with Iran's contentious nuclear program.

US Taxpayer Funded Islamic Terrorists Boldly Prepare Against America

The current Administration is protecting Islamist terrorists in Pennsylvania who vow to overthrow the US government, according to Dr. Paul Williams, terrorist expert, in an article he has written for Jihad Watch. Williams says its anyone's guess as to why, but one of the most dangerous and wealthiest terrorist supporters in the world has made his home on a 28 acre compound in Saylorsburg. Fethullan Gulen, a radical Islamist from Turkey, is worth over $30 billion dollars and is dedicated to plotting "the overthrow of secular governments and the spread of education jihad throughout Asia, Europe and the United States."

Williams writes that "Gulen is surrounded by an army of over 100 Turkish Islamists, who guard him and tend to his needs. The army is comprised of armed militants who wear suits and ties and do not look like traditional Islamists in cloaks and turbans. The Saylorsburg property consists of a massive chalet surrounded by numerous out buildings, including recreational centers, dormitories, cabins for visiting foreign dignitaries, a helicopter pad, and firing ranges. Neighbors complain of the incessant sounds of gunfire...coming the compound and the low flying helicopter that circles the area in search of all intruders."

According to Williams, the FBI has been called to the scene, the neighbors say, but no action has been taken to end the illegal activity. Sentries stand guard at the gates to the estate to turn away all curiosity seekers. The headquarters is allegedly the control center for more than 90 madrassahs, Williams says, that have been established as charter schools throughout the United States. They are funded by American taxpayers. Williams says, "One of these charter schools--Tarek ibn Ziyad Academy (TiZA) in Minnesota--is so radically Islamic and subversive in nature that the Minnesota Department of Education issued two citations against it and the American Civil Liberties Union is suing it."

The Daily Jot previously has reported on the TiZ Academy and its teaching of radical Islam to students. We have also reported on many Islamic "terrorist camps" that have been allowed to exist across America by both the Bush Administration and this current one. In Jeremiah 51:14, the Lord pronounces a judgment upon Babylon, which behaves a lot like present day America. He says, "Surely I will fill thee with men, as with locusts; and they shall lift up a battle cry against thee." American patriots calling into question the practices and policies of the federal government are labeled seditious and home-grown terrorists, while the real terrorists lay in wait, funded by taxpayers and allowed to exist by the government.

Israel Celebrates 62 Years of Independence

Israel began celebrating 62 years of independence on Monday evening, the start of Yom Ha'atzmaut. Independence Day festivities continued throughout Tuesday.

An estimated 800,000 or more Israeli trekkers and barbequers celebrated as Jewish National Fund campsites, parks, and forests filled to the brim. Israel Air Force performed a show flight over Jerusalem and Tel Aviv and the Navy performed a naval review off of Israel's shores. Prime Minister Netanyahu and other officials reportedly sang "off key" as they participated in a sing-along with the IDF orchestra.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton reaffirmed the strong relationship between the United States and Israel in a video message. She said, "Congratulations Israel on 62 years of independence! This is an opportunity to celebrate all that Israel has accomplished and to reaffirm the bonds that unite our two nations-our strategic partnership, our shared values, and our common aspirations. I have a deep personal commitment to Israel, and so does President Obama," Clinton continued. "Our nation will not waver in protecting Israel's security and promoting Israel's future. That is why pursuing peace and recognized borders for Israel is one of our top priorities. The United States will continue to stand with you, sharing your risks and helping shoulder your burdens, as we face the future together," she concluded.

Yom Ha'atzmaut, or Israeli Independence Day, commemorates Israel's declaration of independence in 1948. Celebrated annually on or around the 5th of the Jewish month of Iyar, in Israel an official ceremony is held every year on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem on the evening of Yom Ha'atzmaut. It includes the lighting of twelve torches -- one for each tribe of Israel. Every year a dozen Israeli citizens who made a significant social contribution in a selected area light the torches.

However, every year Israelis celebrate Independence Day only after a 24-hour period of grief for fallen soldiers. Sirens wailed Monday morning bringing traffic to a halt, and before the fireworks display on Monday night people stood in silence to honor Israel's 22,682 fallen soldiers and 2,000 victims of terror. Pray that the U.S. will stay true to its word and stand in a biblical posture toward Israel and Jerusalem. (Psalm 122)

"'If it had not been the Lord who was on our side,' let Israel now say -- 'If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us, then they would have swallowed us alive, when their wrath was kindled against us.' Blessed be the Lord who has not given us as prey to their teeth. Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth." (Psalm 124)

MEMBERS OF CONGRESS UPHOLD THE NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER

On April 15, 2010, United States District Court Judge Barbara Crabb, for the Western District of Wisconsin, struck down the National Day of Prayer statute, ruling that it is unconstitutional. The National Day of Prayer belongs to Americans. It is a tradition that dates back to 1775 and it is not for a Judge to take away. This really amounts to an attack upon the religious heritage of Americans - this terrible court ruling does NOT cancel the 59th annual observance of NDP on May 6th, but it does threaten to remove it in the future.

Yesterday, together with the Congressional Prayer Caucus, Rep. Randy Forbes (R-VA) hosted a press conference on Capitol Hill to formally protest Judge Crabb's ruling. Reps. Lamar Smith (R-Texas), the ranking member on the House Judiciary Committee, and Forbes also introduced a joint resolution that affirms the constitutionality of the National Day of Prayer. "Setting aside a day of prayer and thanksgiving is a national tradition that first began with George Washington. This is not an establishment of religion--which would be unconstitutional," Rep. Smith insisted, "but merely the acknowledgement of the role prayer has played in our nation's history. [A]nyone can choose to enjoy or ignore it."

FRC Action's Tom McClusky was one of the few non-members asked to speak at the event. As he pointed out, this ruling only highlights the importance of confirming judges to the bench who understand and respect the Constitution they are sworn to uphold. (Family Research Council; NDP Task Force)

Opening arguments are under way in the court-martial of a Navy SEAL accused in the abuse of an Iraqi prisoner suspected of masterminding the killings of four U.S. private security contractors in 2004.

- Oh God, we cry out to You in total trust in the defense of Your heavenly court regarding the charges against this Navy SEAL. There is war in Iraq, and this SEAL is accused of punching Abed who was arrested last September on charges of orchestrating the grisly killings of four Blackwater security contractors whose burned corpses were dragged through the Iraqi city of Fallujah west of Baghdad. Father, speak from heaven and deliver this Navy SEAL of all charges brought against him. God, reach down and pull all the SEALS out. We put the blood of Jesus around the SEALS that not a hair on their heads be harmed. We decree Your holy justice to bear hard and heavy upon Abed for the grisly killings of the four Blackwater security contractors. Vindicate their deaths by the power of God. In Jesus Name.

2. Third high-ranking al-Qaeda in Iraq leader killed - USA Today

Iraqi and U.S. troops killed a regional leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq in an early morning raid Tuesday, as security forces continue to put pressure on the terrorist organization following the reported deaths of its two top-ranking figures over the weekend, officials said.

- God, pull down and destroy by Your power all the evil forces of al-Qaeda, as Iraq is guided to seek out their whereabouts and win a decisive battle over this blackness that has prevailed. 5. U.N.'s Ballooning $732 Million Haiti Peacekeeping Budget Goes Mostly to Its Own Personnel - Fox News

The United Nations has quietly upped this year's peacekeeping budget for earthquake-shattered Haiti to $732.4 million, with two-thirds of that amount going for the salary, perks and upkeep of its own personnel, not residents of the devastated island.

- O God, speak against the U.N. and its misuse of these funds and bring judgment quickly upon those that could have brought Haiti out of tremendous suffering and devastation. An atheist group is calling on President Obama to ditch the National Day of Prayer and formally recognize its own "non-theist" version called "The National Day of Reason."

- God, bind under the blood of Jesus every voice that rises against You and the National Day of Prayer. Dispatch the holy angels of God to war against these atheistic groups who serve satan and his agenda. Lift up the banner of the Lord over the National Day of Prayer that it be unchangeable and a solid representation of the American people. In Jesus Name.

7. Obama Holds Talks With Supreme Court Candidates - Fox News

Moving ahead with one of his most consequential decisions, President Barack Obama has begun informal talks with potential nominees for the Supreme Court. And now he is reaching out to senators who ultimately will control the fight ahead to confirm his nominee.

2. Report: Assad due in Egypt to discuss fear of Israel-Syria war - Ha'aretz

Syrian President Bashar Assad was due Tuesday night to land in Egypt "within hours," his first visit in four years, several Arab media outlets reported. The urgency of the surprise trip stems from a fear of war between Israel and Syria.

3. Lieberman: Jerusalem not negotiable - Ynet News

Only Iran, North Korea, and Pakistan are viewed in a more negative light than Israel, according to a poll conducted in 28 countries and published Tuesday by the BBC.

Who's Leading The Free World? by Gary Bauer

End-of-Day: April 19, 2010

Does the "free world" -- the group of nations that believes in open societies, the right of dissent, free speech, freedom of religion, the consent of the governed -- have a leader in 2010? For decades, the president of the United States, Democrat and Republican, had the honor and responsibility of being the unofficial leader, and the U.S. has repeatedly rallied other free societies to confront evil.

Sadly, the current White House occupant doesn't seem interested in continuing that tradition. In fact, it isn't clear that he even embraces the idea that the "free world" is a morally superior entity. In short, the position of "leader of the free world" appears to be vacant until November 2012.

This morning, Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu was interviewed by George Stephanopoulos on Good Morning America. After reviewing the transcript, I am nominating Prime Minister Netanyahu to fill the vacancy. After sparring with Stephanopoulos on why peace talks weren't advancing in the Middle East, Netanyahu reminded him of what the real issue is:

"In fact there is a big contest in the area it's not merely here with the Palestinians. I think that's the minor part. . . . But there's a larger force of radical Islam that wants to eradicate peace. Wants to eradicate Israel. Wants to eradicate any American presence in the Middle East.

"They hate America because of what America stands for. . . they'll stop hating America only when America stops being America. When it stops espousing a free society, pluralism, open debate. That's what they despise. And in fact they don't hate America because of Israel. They hate Israel because of America. Because they see us as an outpost of that free, open civilization that you represent. And you know what? They're right."

Prime Minister Netanyahu gets it, even if Obama does not.

Gates To White House: "You're Clueless!" by Gary Bauer

End-of-Day: April 19, 2010

That may be somewhat of an exaggeration, but that's the gist of a leaked memo from Secretary of Defense Robert Gates regarding the administration's lack of a policy to end Iran's nuclear weapons program. According to a weekend report by the New York Times, "Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates has warned in a secret three-page memorandum to top White House officials that the United States does not have an effective long-range policy for dealing with Iran's steady progress toward nuclear capability."

You don't need a top-secret security clearance to know that. The administration's repeated outreach to the tyrants in Tehran and its constant backpedaling on sanctions has made it painfully obvious that we have no "effective" policy. The White House is floundering while the Islamofascists pursue their goals of "wiping Israel off the map" and destroying the "Great Satan." (That would be us.)

It's worth remembering that Gates is a Bush holdover, a Republican in a liberal Democrat administration. While those surrounding him at cabinet meetings may feel compelled to apologize for America, Gates may well be the only voice of reason in a cacophony of anti-Americanism. In fact, the Times quotes officials as suggesting that Gates' memo should be read as "a warning to a relatively new president that the United States was not adequately prepared."

Today Gates and other top officials are in damage control mode - denying that the memo is in any way critical of President Obama. But the fact that the memo was leaked suggests that there are serious officials who are very worried about the White House's lack of seriousness regarding an "Islamic bomb" in the hands of a Shiite fundamentalist madman.

Bad News For America by Gary Bauer

In another "news flash" this weekend, the geniuses at the New York Times came to the realization that Big Government mandates don't work very well. Exhibit A: New York State's health insurance program.

Like the program in Massachusetts, it's going bankrupt, choked to death by excessive regulation. The Times describes New York's insurance program as " . . . an expensive lesson in unplanned consequences. Premiums for individual and small group policies have risen so high that state officials and patients' advocates say that New York's extensive insurance safety net . . . is falling apart. The problem stems in part from . . . its stringent requirements [on] insurance companies . . ."

Here's the best part. According to the Times, "New York's insurance system has been a working laboratory for the core provision of the new federal health care law." In other words, ObamaCare is largely modeled after the disaster in New York! And it's coming to your state and community by 2014 unless conservatives make major gains in the elections 197 days from now.

1. Divorce Dilemma: Texas Says Gays Can't Get Divorce - ABC News

In 2005, Texas voters passed a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage by a 3-to-1 margin even though state law already prohibited it. A judge in Austin granted the divorce, but Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott is appealing the decision. Kelly Shackelford, chief counsel for the conservative Liberty Institute in Plano said, "It's a backdoor run at establishing same-sex so-called marriage against the people's vote," "Once you grant the divorce, you are recognizing that there was a marriage." A state appeals court is scheduled to hear arguments in the Dallas case on Wednesday.

· Lord, we know those who are in support of same-sex marriages are devising ways to get around our laws, so that they will subvert Christian marriages. We pray you will put a quick stop to their plans and get them to the point of salvation!

· "The more they increased, the more they sinned against Me; I will change their glory into shame. they eat up the sin of My people; they set their heart on their iniquity. (Hosea 4:7, 8)

2. Dems Dealt Setback on Wall St. Bill - The Hill

Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) emerged from a meeting with Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner on Monday to announce she would join a GOP filibuster of Wall Street reform. House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) suggested that the charges against Goldman Sachs would increase financial reform's chances for passage, though he said he believed the charges weren't deliberately timed.

· We pray Lord, the laws that are enacted will be righteous and just laws. Let no perversion in the government decisions be allowed. Direct this present government in spite of themselves to enact godly laws.

· They have all turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is none who does good, No, not one. (Psalm 14:3)

3. Justices Joust Over Christian Group's Rights - Wall Street Journal

Conservative and liberal justices on the Supreme Court dueled verbally over whether a student religious group has a constitutional right to receive state college funds while excluding homosexuals and others who violate its beliefs. The student group was represented by Michael W. McConnell, a conservative scholar who has challenged prevailing views requiring a rigid separation between church and state.

"If Hastings is correct, a student who does not even believe in the Bible is entitled to demand to lead a Christian Bible study," Mr. McConnell told the Supreme Court.

· Lord, we pray that the courts and the Supreme Court will begin to give the victories to the Christians and that our Christian heritage will not be removed from our nation. Let our country honor and reverence you in all its ways.

· "Woe to the rebellious children," says the Lord, "Who take counsel, but not of Me, and who devise plans, but not of My Spirit, That they may add sin to sin. (Isaiah 30:1)

4. White House Quietly Courts Muslims in U.S. - NY Times

Many meetings have been private; others were publicized only after the fact. Muslim and Arab-American advocates have participated in policy discussions and received briefings from top White House aides and other officials on health care legislation, foreign policy, the economy, immigration and national security. They have met privately with a senior White House adviser, Valerie Jarrett, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. to discuss civil liberties concerns and counterterrorism strategy.

· Heavenly Father, We pray these foreign gods and poles of Asherah will be torn down along with all these bad decisions. Turn the balance of the scale of our nation heavily toward Christianity and holiness.

· Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of the Lord his God, for he removed the altars of the foreign gods and the high places, and broke down the sacred pillars and cut down the wooden images. (2 Chronicles 14)

5. 40,000 Americans Stranded in Britain Due to Ash Cloud - Reuters

The White House said Monday that 40,000 Americans were stranded in Britain because of the huge number of flight cancellations due to the cloud of volcanic ash. Some of the stranded Americans were running out of medicine or didn't have places to stay, said Gibbs, adding that the US State Department was looking into the situation.

· Heavenly Father, we pray for this situation that has affected the world. We pray for the volcano to stop its eruption and be at peace; we pray for the authorities to have wisdom of when the planes can fly again. May all those who have special and medical needs find help wherever they are and help all travelers get home safely again. Protect everyone while they travel.

· This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them. (Psalm 34:6-7)

6. Okla. Lawmakers Approve Restrictive Abortion Bills - AP

Abortion rights advocates say that bills, if made law, would give Oklahoma some of the most restrictive abortion laws in the country. Some of the bills, including the ultrasound bill, will go to Gov. Brad Henry for consideration. Others which will return to the state House. The bill passed Monday also has no exceptions.

· Lord, we give you praise, glory and honor for hearing our prayers. Thank you for giving these elected officials determination to do the godly thing to protect the unborn! We pray you will cause more states to enact stronger laws against abortion until it is over-turned.

· Then we cried out to the Lord God of our fathers, and the Lord heard our voice and looked on our affliction and our labor and our oppression. (Deuteronomy 26:7)

7. Amazon Files Lawsuit to Block North Carolina's Data Request - Reuters

Online retailer Amazon.com has filed a lawsuit in a federal court to block the North Carolina state government's demand it disclose all transaction details, including names and addresses, involving state residents, court documents show. Amazon also said in the court filing that DOR also demanded the company furnish records of what each customer purchased and how much they paid.

The lawsuit comes at a time when some states, searching for ways to increase revenues in a weak economy, are mulling the option of taxing out-of-state Internet retailers, following in the footsteps of New York, which passed such legislation in 2008.

· Lord, restrain this government from gaining control over our lives. We pray for the placement of new leaders that will govern in righteousness.

The State Department has summoned the senior Syrian diplomat in Washington to complain about what U.S. officials say is his country's "provocative behavior" in supplying arms to the Iranian-aligned militant group Hezbollah in Lebanon.

2. Netanyahu: Israeli construction in East Jerusalem is justified - Ha'aretz

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared Monday that Israel would not accept Palestinian demands that it stop building settlements in East Jerusalem.

3. Obama and Israel: Showdown at the UN? - Fox News

The Obama administration is reportedly signaling another major shift in policy towards one of its staunchest allies, Israel, and this shift could change the way it votes at the Security Council. The change would mean an end to the US' use of its veto power in the United Nations Security Council when certain anti-Israel resolutions are introduced for a vote.

Of Headlines And Christian Responsibilities

Recent headlines include: Icelandic volcano eruption intensifies, halts most flights throughout Europe; Fireball of unknown origin lights up skies over five states; Cap and tax is back, Senate climate bill to be unveiled April 26; Department of Justice wants to read email without warrants; Ex-NSA worker charged for leaking classified info to unspecified newspaper; Supreme Court wants more money for security; New jobless claims unexpectedly soar; Foreclosure rates surge, biggest jump in five years; FBI Chief says home grown, solo terrorists pose equally serious threat as al Qaeda; Tax payers foot State Department's stiff liquor bill; Administration says support for Israel to be balanced against other interests . . .

We could go on an on with these types of headlines. Any one of them is enough to cause concern in some part of our lives. These are major stories. And these types of things are becoming more commonplace than in years past. Eight years ago when I started following these events as they are related to the Bible, they were few and far between. Four years ago, these kinds of stories with end times significance were happening a few times a week. Now they are happening everyday. The disciples of Jesus asked him when he would return. He replies in Acts 1:7, "It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father has put in his own power."

But Jesus goes on to say in verse 8, "But you shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and you shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." Jesus gave us a picture of what would be happening around us in Matthew 24 when he described the "Beginning of Sorrows." And the Apostle John gave us an indication of the latter days in Revelation. The truth is, however, we do not know when the Lord will return. We have observed that many of the things that Jesus spoke about in Matthew and Luke are coming true quickly and that conditions exist like never before for Revelation prophecies to be fulfilled.

The Apostle Paul wrote of the latter days in 2 Timothy 3:12-15, "Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. But evil men shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. But continue you in the things which you have learned and have been assured of, knowing of whom you have learned them; And that from a child you have known the holy scriptures, which are able to make you wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus." In all these scriptures we have good advice on how to face times such as these: Don't worry about when the Lord will return; have faith in what you have been assured of in the holy scriptures; and evangelize the gospel. God will take care of the rest.

Whenever the pillars of Christianity shall be overthrown, [we] must fall with them (Jedediah Morse, 1799). Yesterday, 223 years to the day after patriots ratified an end the Revolutionary War, a judge in Wisconsin ruled to reintroduce tyranny in America--this time, from the bench. In a decision that is rocking our nation to its very core, U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb determined that a national day of prayer--a tradition as old as the country itself--is unconstitutional. ". . . [R]ecognizing the importance of prayer to many people does not mean that the government may enact a statute in support of it . . . " With all due respect, the government may do exactly that under the very documents that established it. "[The] sacred rights of mankind are not to be rummaged for, among old parchments, or musty records," Alexander Hamilton insisted. "The y are written, as with a sun beam, in the whole volume of human nature, by the hand of divinity itself; and can never be erased by mortal power."

Had Judge Crabb consulted the Constitution she was sworn to uphold, she might notice that Americans enjoy religious freedom--not by virtue of the courts, but in spite of them. Furthermore, setting aside a day of corporate prayer is more than compatible with our nation's heritage; it is a responsibility assigned to every American by George Washington himself. "It is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God... and humbly implore His protection and favor; and whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me to recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer" (Thanksgiving Proclamation, 1789).

Contrary to Judge Crabb's opinion, this ruling does not promote freedom, it crushes it. Americans pray voluntarily. And exercising that right together, as a willing nation, is exactly what the Founding Fathers intended. To imply otherwise is to suggest that the Constitution is unconstitutional! Religion cannot be banned in America because it was never imposed--not by the Founding Fathers, and certainly not by the National Day of Prayer. While this is one of many instances in which the courts have tried to banish God from the public square, this case reveals a level of supreme arrogance. Ultimately, Judge Crabb is inferring that she found something in the Constitution that every President and Congress since 1775 has not: a hostile treatment of religion in public life.

Make no mistake. This judicial mutiny lies directly at the feet of the Left, including President Obama, who has created an atmosphere in which the Constitution is silly putty in the hands of liberal activists. Slowly but surely, he is making American soil more fertile for the radical redefinition of society. This cannot be tolerated. We must ensure that the President's bench nominees have a reverence for the Constitution that this judge lacks. In the meantime, we call on Congress to start the impeachment proceedings for Barbara Crabb, as she violated of her sacred oath of "administering justice . . . under the Constitution and laws of the United States." What she has done to repress, we will use to revive. What she meant to undermine prayer, we will use as the reason why it's necessary. When the great men and women of our past bent their knees to God on behalf of the "sacred fire of liberty," it was often during the nation's darkest days. My friends, it is time we join them. Obama's Middle East Disaster

Everything that the Obama Administration has done in the Middle East has been a failure. Since taking office, Obama has reached out to Iran repeatedly with an "open hand," and every time the Iranian response has been a clenched fist. They have accelerated their nuclear program, which threatens U.S. troops, the free flow of oil, Israel and other allies in the region.

Obama's next great idea was to reach out to Syria to entice Damascus away from Iran and Hezbollah. Failure again. Syria recently held a summit with Ahmadinejad and Hezbollah in which they pledged "solidarity" in the struggle against the U.S. and Israel.

Now there are credible reports that Syria may have transferred scud missiles with a range of 430 miles to the jihadists in Hezbollah. If true, the missiles put Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and the Israeli nuclear reactor at Dimona all within range.

The administration condemns Jewish homes in Jerusalem neighborhoods, but is silent on scuds in the hands of Hezbollah. Unbelievably, when informed of this development, the State Department expressed concern for Lebanon, not Israel. Spokesman Philip Crowley said, "If such an action has been taken, and we continue to analyze this issue, clearly it potentially puts Lebanon at significant risk."

Obama's third great idea has been to curry favor with Middle East thugs by diplomatically pummeling Israel. There is no evidence that these thugs can be satiated by anything other than the destruction of Israel. Meanwhile, the Israeli public is feeling betrayed by the White House, and the Palestinians have no reason to come to the peace table as long as the Obama Administration is demanding more Israeli concessions even before negotiations begin.

Today, Israel is conducting an unannounced nationwide police drill to prepare for an emergency. (It has reportedly caused one gigantic nationwide traffic jam.) Israel is also accelerating the distribution of gas masks to the Israeli public to protect against chemical and biological attacks.

Sadly, I believe there is no doubt that another Middle East war is coming. The question is when it will happen and whether the Islamofascist death worshippers will be defeated. The immoral strategy being pursued by Barack Obama of appeasing our enemies while undermining our friends will make victory more difficult and more costly in blood and treasure. The U.S. Department of the Treasury today targeted the financial and support networks of al-Qai'da and the Taliban by designating two individuals for providing support to terrorists or acts of terrorism under Executive Order 13224. Mohammed Mazhar, the director of al-Akhtar Trust, was designated for his fundraising activities and financial and other support for al-Qai'da and the Taliban, and Mufti Abdul Rahim, leader of al-Rashid Trust, was designated for his fundraising activities for the Taliban. Al-Akhtar Trust and al-Rashid Trust are both Pakistani charities previously identified as Specially Designated Global Terrorists pursuant to Executive Order 13224, which freezes any assets the designated entities and individuals have under U.S. jurisdiction and prohibits U.S. persons from engaging in any transactions with those entities and individuals. US court orders expulsion of Afghan imam

An Afghanistan-born imam who admitted he lied to the FBI over an aborted terror plot against the New York subway system was freed Thursday but ordered to leave the country within three months, a court official said. Ahmad Wais Afzali, 39, appeared in Brooklyn federal court where a judge determined that he had already spent enough time in prison after his arrest in September. "He was sentenced to time served and ordered to self-deport within 90 days," court spokesman Robert Nardoza told AFP. The imam pleaded guilty in March to making false statements to Federal Bureau of Investigation agents investigating Najibullah Zazi, an Afghan immigrant who has since confessed to conspiring to bomb New York. According to prosecutors, Afzali telephoned Zazi to warn him that he was being watched. Zazi subsequently abandoned the bomb plot and returned from New York to his home in Colorado. Afzali, a permanent resident working as an imam at a New York mosque but not a US citizen, made a plea agreement which saw him face a reduced prison sentence of up to six months. (AFP) Read more

Suit Against Pro-Marriage Counselor is Dropped

Maine school counselor Don Mendell has been cleared of complaints that he violated his professional ethics by appearing in a political ad in favor of one-man, one-woman marriage. The state's licensing board voted 2-1 on Friday, April 9, to clear Mendell.

Jordan Lorence, senior counsel with the Alliance Defense Fund, said the complaint was brought by two other school counselors. "It was somebody who said that it's discrimination," he said, "for a social worker to make a public statement in favor of marriage defined as one man, one woman."

A colleague at the same Maine high school has spoken out publicly in favor of same-sex marriage. No complaints have been filed against that person. (CitizenLink)

Press Conference Scheduled for this Wednesday

Washington, D.C. - Congressman J. Randy Forbes (R-VA), Congressman Frank Wolf (R-VA), and Ambassador Tony Hall (D-OH), along with Members of the Congressional Prayer Caucus and faith leaders will hold a bipartisan press conference on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 responding to a federal judge's ruling last week that a federal law designating a National Day of Prayer is unconstitutional.

U.S. District Judge Barbara B. Crabb issued the decision in a case filed by the Freedom From Religion Foundation, a group that challenged the constitutionality of a 1988 federal law. The law requires the president to designate the first Thursday in May as a National Day of Prayer. Members of Congress, along with leaders of faith organizations, will join together in responding to the federal judge's decision last week, to discuss the history of the National Day of Prayer and affirm the right of Americans to pray according to their faith.

2. NEW VOLCANO ASH CLOUD PROMPTS FRESH FLIGHT DOUBTS

A new eruption of the Icelandic volcano last night threw plans to get Britain flying again into chaos. Air passengers who were told their flights would be resumed today from UK airports had their hopes dashed after more cancellations were announced.

A new ash cloud heading towards the country has forced all London Airports to remain closed, while others in England might be open from 1pm, but this was not certain, and Scottish airports will open at 7am. The after-effects of the volcano eruption in southern Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull glacier is likely to cause further chaos for a fortnight.

A Nats spokesman said: 'The volcano eruption in Iceland has strengthened and a new ash cloud is spreading south and east towards the UK. This demonstrates the dynamic and rapidly changing conditions in which we are working. Latest information from the Met Office shows that the situation is worsening in some areas. . ."

- As nature continues to humble man in this growing calamity, pray that God's redemptive purpose will be fulfilled in this hour. it is only when we discover that we are not in control of our lives, and that we have come to the end of our own resources, that we find the Power greater than ourselves Who can restore us to sanity and to wholeness, through the Blood of the Lamb.

3. VOLCANO FORCES U.S. ARMY TO RE-ROUTE MEDICAL FLIGHTS

Pentagon Says Military Air Operations In US Unaffected By Ash

The cloud of volcanic ash that has paralyzed air travel in Europe has had no impact on the US military's air operations in the United States, the Pentagon said Monday, denying statements to the contrary by a senior US official in Brussels that US air operations had been scaled back while the impact of the ash cloud was being assessed.

"There has been no effect on exercises or flight operations in the United States," Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman said. He also noted that US air operations have been suspended at bases in Britain and Germany, and said medical evacuation flights from Afghanistan and Iraq continue to be re-routed.

"We've relocated some of our medical evacuation aircraft to Spain, in Rota, along with medical teams who provide for care all along the ride," Whitman said. "Wounded soldiers who normally would have gone to the US military hospital at Landstuhl, Germany have been sent to the United States instead." Whitman added, "There have been no effects by the ash to our operations in Afghanistan at this time." (Agence France-Presse)

We thank You that You have allowed America's military medical transports favor to bring our wounded troops back home, despite the Icelandic volcanic ash that is polluting European air space. May those military pilots, flight crews, schedulers, troops and their families see that it is because of You, in spite of natural calamities, that they can continue to successfully fly medical flights. May America see that Your are our only hope and turn its tired and weary eyes, hearts, minds and souls to You for help and guidance. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen.

4. SUPREME COURT NOMINATION UNDER DISCUSSION

Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens last Friday announced his intent to retire after the current term, giving President Obama his second nomination to the high court. Obama is looking beyond the traditional Ivy-League candidates, and some are suggesting he should look to political figures. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was briefly discussed as a possible candidate, but the White House quickly clarified that she was not being considered, saying she is needed in her current position.

Two names on Obama's short list are current 9th Circuit Appeals Court Judge Sidney Thomas and former Georgia Supreme Court Chief Justice Leah Ward Sears. Thomas would, if nominated and confirmed, be the only Supreme Court justice not to graduate from an Ivy League school. Ward, who was the first black Chief Justice on any court in the nation, would be the first black woman on the Supreme Court.

Obama's choice is unlikely to change the Supreme Court's balance, since he will likely seek to replace the liberal Stevens with another liberal, but it could turn into an ideological battle if he names left-leaning activist. Obama has indicated he will consider the Supreme Court's recent campaign finance ruling, which he disagreed with, in choosing his nomination. Republicans are warning Obama not to use the case as a so-called "litmus test." (Intercessors for America)
- Pray that the process of selecting a new Supreme Court Justice would highlight the need to honor the Constitution. Invite Our Father to take it from here, interceding on behalf of the great gravity of this nomination. Declare and decree God's Word to be the litmus test in this selection. Ask that God, Who alone is all wise and just, be mightily factored into this equation, as He can do what man cannot, superseding all of man's plans. Please pray that "One Nation Under God" is the only litmus test given.

- But Gideon said to them, "I will not rule over you, nor shall my son rule over you; the Lord shall rule over you." (Judges 8:23)

5. OBAMACARE WILL BE FOCUS OF HIGH COURT JUSTICE HEARING

The retirement of Justice John Paul Stevens means that in coming months we'll have another hearing on a Supreme Court nominee. But, more important, the public's issue focus has changed. And while the issue of whether to criminalize abortion tended to favor Democrats, the political issues that now raise Constitutional questions tend to favor Republicans. These issues are raised by the big government programs of the Obama administration and Democratic congressional leaders, in particular by the health care legislation they jammed through Congress despite huge public opposition last month.

One issue is the constitutionality of the health care bill's mandate to purchase private health insurance. The federal government has never before commanded citizens to buy a commercial product. Could the government command you to buy breakfast cereal? Some 14 state attorneys general are trying to raise the issue in court, and pending state laws outlawing mandates, could raise the question, as well. Those state laws are obviously invalid under the supremacy clause unless the federal law is unconstitutional. Is it? . . . Just raising the health care mandate issue helps Republicans given the great, and apparently growing unpopularity, of the Democrats' legislation.

Another set of questions could prove embarrassing for Democrats who have lauded Griswold v. Connecticut and Roe v. Wade for creating a right to privacy that includes contraception and abortion. "How can the freedom to make such choices with your doctor be protected and not freedom to choose a hip replacement or a Caesarean section?" asks former New York Lt. Gov. Betsy McCaughey in The Wall Street Journal. "Either your body is protected from government interference or it's not." McCaughey also notes that in 2006, the Supreme Court in Gonzales v. Oregon ruled that the federal government couldn't set standards for doctors to administer lethal drugs to terminally ill patients under Oregon's "Death with Dignity Act." So does the Constitution empower the feds to regulate non-lethal drugs in contravention of other state laws? (The Washington Examiner and GOP USA)

- Father God and Supreme Chief Justice, we ask that You will select the next U.S. Supreme Court Justice to replace the liberal John Paul Stevens. We ask that the nominee not be given any "passes" when questioned about their desire to uphold the U.S. Constitution that You inspired the Fathers of our Country to write and ratify in 1787. Please, may this egregious Healthcare legislation passed last month be rendered null and void, and may America's Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches once more serve the people that elected them. May America and Israel be saved for Your Glory! In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen.

6. CAMPUS FAITH GROUP TAKES FIGHT TO HIGH COURT

Secular liberals, and in particular homosexual activist groups, seek to crush the freedom of Christians to express themselves, especially in support of traditional sexual morality. That's clear from what happened to the Christian Legal Society's (CLS) student affiliate at the University of California's Hastings School of Law in San Francisco. CLS was denied recognition as a student organization on grounds that it violated the school's policy of "non-discrimination" based on religion or "sexual orientation" because this Christian group would not allow non-Christians or unrepentant, practicing homosexuals to become members or leaders (even though they were free to attend the group's events). After CLS sued, the school realized that court precedent indicated their own anti-religious viewpoint discrimination was unconstitutional, so they shifted gears, claiming all student groups must adopt an "all comers" policy allowing anyone to join or be elected to office.

But under this absurd approach, Republicans could take over the Democratic club, Muslims could take over the Jewish students club, etc. This turns freedom of speech, religion, and association completely on its head. FRC's Peter Sprigg was in the courtroom today and heard conservative justices Alito and Roberts vigorously challenge the school's untenable position in CLS v. Martinez. Former federal judge Michael McConnell argued for CLS, and expressed optimism about the outcome. In this case, the freedoms of everyone--not just Christians--are at stake. - Pray that the Supreme Court exercises its full authority in weighing this case, on behalf of all of our freedom of speech. Amen.

7. MEMBERS OF CONGRESS MAY LOSE INSURANCE DUE TO OBAMACARE!

In what is probably one of the funniest and most deliciously ironic side-effects of ObamaCare, the New York Times reports that, buried deep in the 2,700 plus pages of the bill, there is language that would appear to kick members of Congress off of their current government insurance plans and put them into the new "exchanges" that the bill created.

The problem? Well, the exchanges don't exist . . . but the bill is now the law of the land.

From the Times: The law apparently bars members of Congress from the federal employees health program, on the assumption that lawmakers should join many of their constituents in getting coverage through new state-based markets known as insurance exchanges.

But the research service found that this provision was written in an imprecise, confusing way, so it is not clear when it takes effect.

The new exchanges do not have to be in operation until 2014. But because of a possible "drafting error," the report says, Congress did not specify an effective date for the section excluding lawmakers from the existing program. (Christian Coalition of America) Read more.

- If there were ever an incentive for Congress to READ THE BILL, they just lost their chance. Please pray that this development would summarily sanction their long awaited wake up call inside Congress that many of us have been praying would happen . . . For a long time. Ask that this hilarious outcome will bring them to their knees before God and to their feet for America. Humbly intercede that this one incident will finally teach their hands to war and their fingers to fight for what is good and right for the American people and no longer for selfishness and foolish political gain. Give our God glorious high praise and decree that in this same type of sweeping move by our God, over all, we win.

- "Blessed be the Lord my Rock, Who trains my hands for war, And my fingers for battle." (Psalm 144:1)

8. VALUE-ADDED TAX ON ITS WAY?

A value-added tax could be coming soon, if a top Obama adviser's words are any indication. White House financial Adviser Paul Volcker said last week that raising taxes would be necessary to reduce the budget deficit, and said a value-added tax and an energy-related tax were possible sources of government revenue.

A VAT is a type of sales-based tax that is often supported by conservatives in place of the income tax, but conservatives say a VAT in addition to the income tax would add an enormous tax burden to the middle class.

Writing two weeks before Volcker's statement, conservative political commentator Charles Krauthammer predicted Obama will implement a VAT, saying it is the only way to cover the health care reform bill." As a substitute for the income tax, the VAT would be a splendid idea," Krauthammer said. "Taxing consumption makes infinitely more sense than taxing work. But to feed the liberal social-democratic project, the VAT must be added on top of the income tax."

In the end, Krauthammer and other critics say a VAT will not reduce the deficit, but will be used to justify more and more spending and more government growth. We just might get a chance to find out. (Intercessors for America)

- Pray that a new tax burden would not be added to those who can least afford it. Please intercede that we not feed our children's bread to the "social justice beast", not one more dime. Open up, in intercession, a higher ground for our government to walk on, to include dismantling wasted stimulus agenda and allowing the American private sector to prosper on it's own. Hidden, useless agendas have done us no favors whatsoever.

- Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph. And he said to his people, "Look, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we; come, let us deal shrewdly with them, lest they multiply, and it happen, in the event of war, that they also join our enemies and fight against us, and so go up out of the land. 9. HOLDER WON'T RULE OUT N.Y.9/11 TRIAL

Attorney General Eric H. Holder, Jr., said Wednesday that Khalid Shaikh Mohammed and his accused co-conspirators in the September 11th attacks may yet face trial in a federal court in the Southern District of New York, if not in Lower Manhattan. A trial in New York is "not off the table," Mr. Holder said, and the Obama administration may decide "in a number of weeks." Still, in his testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Mr. Holder said the administration was taking "into consideration the concerns that have been raised by local officials, and by the community in New York City," about the cost and disruptiveness of security arrangements that would be needed if the case were to be prosecuted in a Manhattan courtroom. And he did not rule out moving the case to a military commission. "The Southern District of New York, for instance, is a much larger place than simply Manhattan," Mr. Holder said. "There's also the possibility of trying the case in other venues beyond New York." (New York Times) Read more.

- Gracious Father. We cry out for justice for the victims of the September 11th attacks! We pray for a Godly government that will take to heart and task, and correct the grievous miscalculations of our current Justice Department that to date, will not prosecute these murderers as enemy combatants. May the blood of those killed cry out without ceasing to Mr. Holder and this Justice Department, until they prosecute these surviving combatants in a military tribunal, not in civil court. For Your Glory, we pray that these heinous crimes be brought to Your Ultimate Justice. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen.

- "For the indignation of the Lord is against all nations, and His fury against all their armies; He has utterly destroyed them, He has given them over to the slaughter. For it is the day of the Lord's vengeance, the year of recompense for the cause of Zion." (Isaiah 34: 2 and 8 NKJV)

10. SENATORS DEMAND FORT HOOD INFORMATION

Two top senators served the Obama administration Monday with subpoenas for information on the mass shooting at Fort Hood last November, claiming the administration's stonewalling left them with no other choice.

Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., and Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine -- respectively, the chairman and the ranking Republican on the Senate homeland security committee -- notified Attorney General Eric Holder and Defense Secretary Robert Gates of the decision in a letter Monday. They said the committee had sent four formal requests for information to the Pentagon and two to the Justice Department, and received little response.

"Our efforts have been met with delay, the production of little that was not already publicly available, and shifting reasons why the departments are withholding the documents and witnesses that we have requested," they wrote. "Unfortunately, it is impossible for us to avoid reaching the conclusion that the departments simply do not want to cooperate with our investigation." They said the subpoenas were being issued "with great disappointment and reluctance."

- Offer praise that these two key senators have now stepped forward to demand the information their committee needs in order to do its job. Bind the spirit that has caused the White House to refrain from releasing the needed data; and loose wisdom for the members of the Senate committee, as hidden things are revealed. Praise the Lord -- we serve a God of justice; and, with prayer, His will shall prevail!

11. SUMMARIZING THE SUMMIT

President Obama hosted his highly publicized Nuclear Security Summit in Washington last week, aiming to keep nuclear materials out of the hands of terrorists. On Tuesday, Obama told delegations from 46 countries that terrorists obtaining nuclear weapons "would be a catastrophe for the world, causing extraordinary loss of life and striking a major blow at global peace and stability."

Leaders from Chile, Ukraine and Canada have promised to reduce their stockpiles of enriched uranium, and the nations gathered for the summit pledged to block "non-state actors" from obtaining the technology to use nuclear material "for malicious purposes."

The agreement laid out vague generalities, but outlined little or no specific action to be taken. A follow-up nuclear security conference will be held in South Korea in 2012. President Lee Myung-bak told reporters that North Korean leader Kim Jong Il will not get an invitation until the North gives up its efforts to build a nuclear arsenal. (Intercessors for America)

12. SYRIA GAVE SCUDS TO HEZBOLLAH, U.S. SAYS

Israeli and U.S. officials allege that Syria has transferred long-range Scud missiles, built with either North Korean or Russian technology, to the Lebanese Shiite militant group Hezbollah. They believe this to be a move that threatens to alter the Middle East's military balance and sets back a major diplomatic outreach effort to Damascus by the U.S. administration.

Israeli President Shimon Peres last week charged President Bashar Assad's government with transferring Scud missiles to Hezbollah's forces inside Lebanon. Syria and Hezbollah both denied the charges, but these allegations already are affecting U.S. foreign policy. Congressional officials said that Republicans were trying to block the appointment of a new American ambassador to Damascus, while the White House said it was pressing ahead with confirmation.

Israeli officials called Scud missiles "game-changing" armaments that mark a new escalation in the Mideast conflict. They alleged that Mr. Assad is increasingly linking Syria's military command with those of Hezbollah and Iran. "Syria claims it wants peace while at the same time it delivers Scuds to Hezbollah, whose only goal is to threaten the state of Israel," Peres said in an interview with Israeli radio.

The Scuds are believed to have a range of more than 435-miles-placing Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Israel's nuclear installations all within range of Hezbollah's military forces. During a month-long war with Israel in 2006, Hezbollah used rockets with ranges of 20 to 60-miles. (The Wall Street Journal)

On April 15, 2010, United States District Court Judge Barbara Crabb, for the Western District of Wisconsin, struck down the National Day of Prayer statute, ruling that it is unconstitutional. The National Day of Prayer belongs to Americans. It is a tradition that dates back to 1775 and it is not for a Judge to take away. This really amounts to an attack upon the religious heritage of Americans

- this terrible court ruling does NOT cancel the 59th annual observance of NDP on May 6th, but it does threaten to remove it in the future.

Shirley Dobson, Chairman of the National Day of Prayer Task Force, said, "Since the days of our Founding Fathers, the government has protected and encouraged public prayer and other expressions of dependence on the Almighty. This is a concerted effort by a small but determined number of people who have tried to prohibit all references to the Creator in the public square, whether it be the Ten Commandments, the Pledge of Allegiance, or the simple act of corporate prayer - this is unconscionable for a free society."

According to Franklin Graham, the honorary chairman of this year's National Day of Prayer, it also shows just how much our country needs God's help. "At a time when our country is waging two wars, approval ratings for Congress are at historic lows, unemployment is at a 70-year high and financial institutions have collapsed around us, I can't imagine anyone seriously opposing a National Day of Prayer," said Graham.
