1. Israel raids Palestinian Authority's Jerusalem offices - Israel National News

Israeli police and agents from the Shin Bet internal security agency raided the offices of the Palestinian Authority's governor of the Jerusalem district on Sunday, authorities said, following the alleged kidnapping by PA forces of an American citizen who facilitated the sale of Arab property in Jerusalem to Jews.

The Shin Bet confirmed on Sunday afternoon the raid in Al-Ram, just on the other side of Israel's separation wall from Jerusalem, but provided few details. It came after Israel's detention of the Palestinian Authority's regional governor, Adnan Gheith, on October 20. He was released two days later.

The Palestinian Authority's Jerusalem affairs minister, Adnan al-Husseini, told AFP that Israeli forces confiscated documents and material during the raid. The same building houses his ministry and the governor's office, both of which he said were raided in the first such Israeli action.

2. Israel said to warn Beirut it will strike Hezbollah rocket factories - Times of Israel

Israel has reportedly sent a message to the Lebanese government via Paris demanding that it act against the Hezbollah terror group's rocket factories in the country, saying if Lebanon refused to do so, Israel could take military action.

The message was delivered by Israel's deputy national security adviser Eitan Ben-David to Orléan la-Chevalier, a top adviser to French President Emmanuel Macron, during the latter's visit in Jerusalem on Monday, according to Israel's Channel 10 news.

"The Lebanese government must be careful when it comes to Hezbollah's rocket factories. If the issue isn't dealt with through diplomatic means by the Lebanese government, Israel will act on its own," the message read, according to the report, which cited unnamed "Western diplomatic sources."

3. Report: Israel-Hamas ceasefire includes easing of blockade, work permits - Jerusalem Post

The draft of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, mediated by Egyptian intelligence, was published by the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar Saturday according to a report in The Jerusalem Post's sister publication Maariv.

The agreement includes a series of stages, to be put into place over the course of the next year, in which will act to remove 70% of the Israeli blockade on Gaza until the weekly violent marches along the Israel-Gaza border stop entirely.

According to the Al-Akhbar report, the entry points to Gaza will be regularly open and 5,000 Gazan Palestinians under the age of 40 will be given work permits in Israel. In addition, the permitted fishing zone from Gaza will be extended to 14 miles, the Palestinian Authority will pay 80% of salaries for public sector workers in Gaza, and energy and infrastructure projects will be launched that will aim to employ 30,000 unemployed academics.

4. Jordan receives Israeli request to negotiate on land leases - Israel National News

Jordan said on Sunday that Israel had asked for consultations on a special land deal agreed in their peace treaty that the Jordanian government wants to end, Reuters reported. Under the 1994 peace treaty, the lands in Naharayim and Tzofar were recognized to be under Jordanian sovereignty but the treaty gave Israel special provisions to use the land and allow Israelis free access. The treaty stipulated that the deal would be automatically renewed unless either of the parties notified the other a year before expiry that it wished to terminate the agreement.

Two weeks ago, King Abdullah II of Jordan announced that he had decided not to extend the leases to Israel.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu later said that while he acknowledges Jordan's right not to extend the lease, his government will open negotiations with the kingdom to secure an extension of the lease, which is slated to end in October 2019.

5. Several US synagogues vandalized after deadly Pittsburgh massacre - World Israel News

Anti-Semitism reared its head again last week when the Beit Yaakov synagogue in Irvine, California was vandalized with anti-Semitic graffitiovernight Tuesday, just three days after a shooting massacre at Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh.

Meanwhile, a political event scheduled for Thursday night at the historic Union Temple synagogue in Brooklyn was canceled after anti-Semitic epithets that included "die Jew rats we are here," "Jews better be ready," and "Hitler" were scrawled on the premises. The police announced Friday night that they had arrested James Polite, 26, on charges that he created the anti-Semitic graffiti. He faces charges of criminal mischief, which the police classified as a hate crime, and making graffiti.

The Daily Brief

1. States' Early Turnout Setting Records Ahead of Election Day - Newsmax

More than 30 million Americans have cast early ballots ahead of Tuesday's midterm elections, eclipsing the 2014 early totals nationally and suggesting a high overall turnout for contests that could define the final two years of President Donald Trump's term.

At least 28 states have surpassed their 2014 early votes. And perhaps even more indicative of the unusual enthusiasm this midterm cycle, some states are approaching their early turnout from the 2016 presidential election.

Here's a look at some highlights.(Read more)

- Father God, this article goes on to state that the Democrats are showing a slim margin in the early voting. We keep our eyes fixed upon You, the author and the finisher of all things, trusting for Your will to be done on Election Day, in Your name, amen.

- "Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes." (1 Corinthians 4:5)

2. Voters Weigh In Loud and Clear on Trump's Use of Troops To Stop Caravan - Western Journal

According to a survey released by Zogby on Friday, a clear 57 percent of likely voters think that sending troops to the border to stop the caravan is a good idea. That would be enough of a surprise by itself, but here's another kicker: Over half of Hispanics also agree with the plan.

President Trump has thus far proposed up to 15,000 troops to secure the southern border. The first wave is arriving to reinforce the international bridge in Hidalgo, Texas, according to NBC News. "We'll go up to anywhere between 10,000 and 15,000 military personnel on top of border patrol, ICE, and everybody else at the border. Nobody's coming in," the president told reporters.

"A new Zogby Analytics nationwide survey of 866 likely voters, with a margin of error of +/-3.3%, conducted 10/30/18-10/31/18, shows a majority (57%) of Americans support the military's decision to send thousands of troops to the border to prevent a migrant caravan, numbered in the thousands, from entering the U.S. illegally. More than two in five disagree with the military deployment to the border," Zogby reported. (Read more)

- Lord God, we thank You that the American people know an enemy when we see one; and that the vast majority of us will now stand behind a President who is committed to doing all he can to defend our nation and our borders. In You we find our strength, amen.

- "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you." (Psalm 32:8)

3. Could Trump Win 20 Percent of the African-American Vote in 2020? - National Review

The strength of the economy and Trump's message are resonating among African Americans.

The provocative Donald Trump certainly seems to be disliked by a majority of African-American professional athletes, cable-news hosts, academics, and the Congressional Black Caucus. Yet there are subtle but increasing indications that his approval among other African Americans may be reaching historic highs for a modern Republican president.

Some polls have indicated that Trump's approval rating among black voters is close to 20 percent. That is far higher than the 8 percent of the African-American vote that Trump received on Election Day 2016.

. . . Even 20 percent African-American support for Trump would all but dismantle Democratic-party presidential hopes for 2020. (Read more)

- Father, we thank You that more and more American citizens are now waking up to the blessing of the Trump agenda. We pray this movement will continue to grow and to gain momentum over the next two years, in Your name, amen.

- "You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free." (John 1:8)

4. Millennials to Democrats: It's the Economy, Stupid - The Nation

When it comes to economics, the party is in danger of losing young voters to the GOP.

. . . A new Reuters/Ipsos survey (showed that) More than 16,000 registered voters between the ages of 18 and 34 responded to the online survey. The conclusion? Millennial voters are losing their enthusiasm for the Democratic Party, and a growing number of them now believe that the GOP is offering better economic leadership. What's curious about the Reuters/Ipsos survey is that it doesn't suggest any change in the millennial generation's negative perception of Trump.

So why are millennials embracing Trump's party right before a crucial round of midterms? Three words: the tax cuts. (Read more)

- Father God, once again we see a significant number of our voters turning away from the lies of the socialist/ communist agenda, towards the truth of our way of governing. Praise the Lord. Amen.

- "Let no man deceive you." (2 Thessalonians 2:3)

5. Woman Who Accused Brett Kavanaugh of Rape Admits to Judiciary Committee She Lied - PJ Media

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, on Friday referred a woman who made false allegations of sexual assault against Brett Kavanaugh to the Department of Justice and the FBI for investigation. In a telephone conversation with Committee investigators on Thursday, Munro-Leighton confessed that her email claiming to be the "Jane Doe" who accused Kavanaugh of rape was made "to get attention" and was just a "tactic" and a "ploy." The "explosive" letter was indeed disseminated throughout the media on October 2, 2018.

The Judiciary Committee chairman wrote that on Sept. 25, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) forwarded a letter from a "Jane Doe" to Committee investigators, claiming that Kavanaugh and a friend had raped her "several times each" in the "backseat of a car." Grassley said that investigators were able to quickly determine three things about the accuser, given her "relatively unique name." They found that she "(1) is a left-wing activist; (2) is decades older than Judge Kavanaugh; and (3) lives in neither the Washington DC area nor California, but in Kentucky."

The letter from Grassley to Attorney General Jeff Sessions and FBI Director Christopher Wray includes copies of the original written letter and the email exchange between Munro-Leighton and Committee staff. The Iowa Senator concluded: "It is illegal to make materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent statements to Congressional investigators. It is illegal to obstruct Committee investigations. Accordingly, in light of the seriousness of these facts, and the threat these types of actions pose to the Committee's ability to perform its constitutional duties, I hope you will give this referral the utmost consideration. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter." (Read more)

- Almighty God, may holy justice rise up and take the reigns to bring down every heinous lie levied against Mr. Kavanaugh, and defend his name by divine intervention. We trust and pray in the Name of Jesus.

- "The way of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord; but He loves them that follow after righteousness." (Proverbs 15:9)

6. Democrats Pounce On Ryan Zinke Amid News Of Potential DOJ Investigation - Daily Caller

Democratic lawmakers launched a salvo of attacks against Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke on news the department's Office of Inspector General referred an investigation into the former Navy SEAL to the Justice Department. Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal and two Democratic colleagues, Sens. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Ron Wyden of Oregon, sent a letter to Zinke demanding he "immediately cease using taxpayer funds for personal gain."

"It is disappointing that unsubstantiated and anonymous sources have described an IG office referral to members of the media, as this violates DOJ and IG policy direction," Zinke's lawyer Stephen Ryan said in a statement to reporters. "The Secretary has done nothing wrong." [He also] said the secretary "has not been contacted or notified of any DOJ investigation or Inspector General referral."

Democrats on the House Committee on Natural Resources started the hashtag #InvestigateZinke, tweeting, "[l]ooks like we're not the only ones concerned with Secretary Zinke's multiple scandals and pretending to be above the law." In the event of a "blue wave" this election, Democrats vowed to use their control of committees to investigate Zinke's running of the department. (Read more)

- Father God, we lift up Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke and ask that all charges against him be dropped. In Your Name, amen.

- "If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it." (John14:14)

7. Bolton brands Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua a 'troika of tyranny' in sanctions rollout - FoxNews

National Security Adviser John Bolton on Thursday branded Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua a "troika of tyranny" and announced new measures against the socialist countries -- promising they "will feel the full weight of America's robust sanctions regime." Bolton told the audience at Miami Dade College that under President Trump, "we will no longer appease dictators and despots near our shores in this Hemisphere."

"The troika of tyranny, this triangle of terror stretching from Havana to Caracas to Managua, is the cause of immense human suffering, the impetus of enormous regional instability, and the genesis of a sordid cradle of communism in the Western Hemisphere," he said. He also dismissed the idea that the oppressive governments were deviating from socialist principles.

"On the contrary, the Cuban, Venezuelan and Nicaraguan people suffer in misery because socialism has been implemented effectively," he said. He hailed the elections of "like-minded leaders" in Colombia and Brazil -- where right-wing candidate Jair Bolsonaro won the presidency in Brazil last week, as "positive signs for the future of the region" and signs of a growing regional commitment to free-market principles and open government. (Read more)

- Father God, we sever asunder the cords of the wicked that form an alliance between these three dictatorships. Please grant John Bolton and the President Your wisdom in dealing with each nation in the days ahead. Amen.

- "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you." (Psalm 32:8)

8. U.S. Launches Crackdown on Chinese Economic Espionage - FreeBeacon

Amid unfulfilled Chinese government promises not to spy on U.S. companies, Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Thursday announced a major initiative to counter multi-billion dollar theft of American technology from Chinese economic espionage. "Chinese economic espionage against the United States has been increasing-and it has been increasing rapidly," Sessions said. "We are here today to say: enough is enough. We're not going to take it anymore. It is unacceptable."

Sessions, referring to "the communist regime in China which is notorious around the world for intellectual property theft," said Beijing's technology acquisition efforts against American firms too often have been successful and are the main targets of the counter-espionage program. On Tuesday, the Justice Department announced the indictment of two Chinese intelligence officers and five hackers for conducting cyber attacks on American aerospace companies.

That indictment followed the unprecedented arrest earlier this year of a Chinese Ministry of State Security officer for economic cyber spying. "We will not allow our sovereignty to be disrespected, our intellectual property to be stolen, or our people to be robbed of their hard-earned prosperity," he said. "Discoveries that took years of work and millions of dollars in investment here in the United States can be stolen by computer hackers or carried out the door by an employee in a matter of minutes," he said. "This theft is not just wrong; it poses a grave threat to our national security. And it is unlawful." (Read more)

- Almighty God, we pray that You will totally cripple the attempts of the Chinese to steal and rob Americans and our companies of our hard-earned intellectual properties. Burn up the path that leads them inside our firms and companies so they no longer have access to our highly intelligent systems. We pray the Blood of Jesus be over all of our technology. In the Name of Jesus, amen.

- "Deliver America, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man." (Psalm 71:4)

9. World stock markets rally on news of Trump-Xi talks - Washington Times

Stock markets charged ahead Friday after President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, spoke by phone and reported progress in resolving trade tensions. Investors are looking ahead to U.S. jobs figures due later in the day.

U.S. President Donald Trump tweeted that he spoke with Chinese President Xi Jinping and that the two countries were making some progress in trade negotiations. He didn't give details, but there have been few signs of movement in the trade dispute in recent months, and investors are getting nervous about the prospect of huge tariff increases.

A Chinese foreign ministry spokesman told reporters the discussion was quite positive and that the two leaders were optimistic about resolving the dispute over technology that has resulted in both sides imposing penalty tariffs on billions of dollars' worth of each other's exports. Meanwhile, Chinese state media said Xi has promised tax cuts and other help to China's entrepreneurs in a renewed effort to revive the cooling, state-dominated economy. (Read more)

- Lord God, we pray Your mighty hand lead and direct President Trump in all these stock market decisions. Let him see what is hidden, and what is the truth. Cut to pieces any deception by the Chinese and break down their power in every way. We pray in the Name of Jesus. Amen.

- "Give the king (President Trump) your judgments, O God, and Your righteousness. He shall judge the people with righteousness, and Your poor with judgment."
(Psalm 72:1-2)

10. China Launches Global Campaign to Spread Internet Repression, Surveillance Tools - FreeBeacon

The Chinese government has carried out a global campaign to disseminate its oppressive internet policies and digital surveillance tools, hosting seminars on cyber censorship with officials from at least three-dozen countries over the past two years, according to a new report. In its annual study of internet openness, Freedom House, a democracy and human rights watchdog, warned Chinese efforts to spread its "digital authoritarianism" pose a threat to an open internet and the spread of democracy across the world.

Freedom House research director Adrian Shahbaz, who authored the report, said China is working to create a network of countries that will impose its internet censorship model. Since early 2017, Chinese officials have led weeks-long seminars on censorship and surveillance with representatives from 35 of the 65 countries assessed by Freedom House. Government officials representing countries from the Middle East and Southeast Asia were most prevalent at these sessions.

Beijing's technology sector has also helped diminish internet freedom around the world. Chinese tech companies have supplied telecommunications hardware, advanced facial-recognition technology, and data-analytics tools to several governments with poor human rights records, which could benefit Chinese intelligence services as well as repressive local authorities, the report said. (Read more)

- Father God, we come against this global surveillance campaign in the Name and the Blood of the Lamb. Amen.

- "And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death."
(Rev. 12:11)

11. 'Sanctions are Coming': Trump invokes 'Game of Thrones' to announce Iran crackdown - FoxNews

The Trump administration's new sanctions on Iran were announced Friday with the help of a "Game of Thrones"-inspired parody poster declaring: "SANCTIONS ARE COMING."

The rollout initially was executed in traditional Washington fashion: a conference call, a press release, a formal White House tweet. The headline was that the administration, as expected, would restore the final round of sanctions on Iran that had been lifted under the controversial 2015 Iran nuclear deal -- though there would be exemptions for eight countries.

On the earlier conference call, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin announced the sanctions on Iran's shipping, financial and energy sectors. The sanctions will target Iran's crude oil exports and will penalize countries that don't stop importing oil and foreign companies that do business with certain Iranian entities.

Pompeo said that the sanctions are intended to fundamentally change the Iranian regime's behavior. But the administration also announced that there would be eight significant reduction exemptions (SREs) for countries that haven't completely eliminated oil imports from Iran. The waivers will last for a six-month period and will be re-evaluated after that time is up. The Associated Press reported that those exempted include Italy, India, Japan and South Korea. (Read more)

- Father, we are so thankful for the wisdom that You have given President Trump to cut the lines of corruption regarding Iran and the sanctions. Protect him as he is guided by the You, God. In Jesus' Name we pray.

- "But there is a God in heaven that reveals secrets." (Daniel 2:28)

The real enemy of Americans

The news media is having a temper tantrum over President Donald Trump referring to the Fake News Media as the enemy of the American people, but the media continues to affirm his statement. CNN's Chris Cuomo, on Monday's edition of "Let's Get After It," postulated that white men are the terrorists in America. He led into the segment by discussing another news story where a white man in Kentucky gunned down two black people. He said this story was overlooked because of other stories where white men mailed bombs to political figures and killed Jews in Pittsburgh. Now mind you Cuomo is white and he is leading a news segment where the conclusion is that white men are the biggest problem facing America. He is using the examples of these three crimes to prove his point. This is one way Fake News gets its start.

Another "journalist," Don Lemon joined Cuomo on his segment referring to the Kentucky shooting, saying, "Now, another one. And then you have all of them in a row . . . I keep trying to point out to people and not to demonize any one group or any one ethnicity. But we keep thinking that the biggest terror threat is something else, someone people who are marching, you know, towards the border, like it's imminent. And the last time they did this, a couple hundred people came, and you know, most of them did get into the country . . . So, we have to stop demonizing people and realize the biggest terror threat in this country is white men, most of them radicalized to the right. And we have to start doing something about them. There is no travel ban on them . . . they had the Muslim ban. There is no white guy ban. So, what do we do about that?"

As a point of information, Cuomo, a "journalist," is the liberal son of New York's former governor Mario Cuomo. He backed up his statement about white men being the problem in America with another "journalist" Don Lemon commenting. Lemon is a gay black leftist who characterized Kayne West's appearance at the White House with Trump as "embarrassing" and a "Minstrel Show" while allowing the panelists on his show to say that West was a "token Negro." Both Cuomo and Lemon have a history of biased commentary, yet CNN tries to pass them off as "journalists." The programs these men moderate take positions on political issues and disguise them as legitimate news commentary.

The absurdity of their logic is found in the stream of consciousness comparison of the caravan of thousands of illegal aliens approaching America and a ban on Muslims (which is also Fake News) leading to the conclusion that white men are the biggest terror threat to America. All the while, they both are saying that it is wrong to demonize people because of their race or ethnicity. Jeremiah 17:9 says, "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked." Evil is not a matter of ethnicity or race, it is a matter of the heart. It comes in many forms. For CNN, it is often Fake News generated by twisted political minions disguised as journalists. In another age not so long ago, these men may have been institutionalized. One could conclude that evil is the real enemy of the American people, Fake News is just a form of it.

Election Day Storm Watch

Severe weather likely on Election Day as a major storm develops in central and eastern U.S.

Washington, D.C. winds will be 25 - 47 mph

This year's midterm election features an intensity usually reserved for a presidential race. In parts of central and eastern United States, a major storm system may add a wrinkle to this high-stakes contest.

The storm is set to rapidly develop Monday into Tuesday as it travels from the Southern Plains to the Great Lakes region. Numerous states could be hit by heavy rain and even some tornadoes.

The pattern supporting the storminess developed earlier this week and set the stage for a predecessor storm that spawned tornadoes across Louisiana and nearby areas before dawn on Wednesday. It is now moving up the East Coast, where heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected.

The Election Day storm system is already on the doorsteps of the Pacific Northwest. It will dive into the contiguous United States over the weekend. (Washington Post) Read more and view maps here.

Australia Prays for America!

Prayer and warfare for US mid-term elections 6 Nov 2018

Editor's note:

On Sunday morning, I received this delightful and encouraging email from a brother in Australia, Kris Schlyder.

Kris is serving as the Coordinator of the Australian Indigenous Prayer Network, and as the Australian coordinator of the spiritual Anzacs.

As we near the finish line this week of this year's Midterm Election, I know we can all use a bit of a boost to end strong. Kris' note was just what I needed to "get there," and as I now share his words with you all, I trust that his note will encourage you, too!

In His Grace,

Sara Ballenger
CHPP

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

After sending out our NDOPF team email calling for prayer and fasting for the US mid-term elections on 6 November I had a phone conversation with a reliable elderly woman intercessor in NSW who had been having internet problems but was now back on the net. We spoke of the US mid-term elections during our conversation.

Early this morning I received a thank you email from network member Sara Ballenger who leads Capital Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) in Washington DC, USA. I also had two emails from the NSW intercessor I was speaking with last night which she sent just before midnight when I was asleep. The essence of those two emails was that the Lord had showed her a pair of combat boots together with a call for spiritual Anzacs and Israel to cover themselves and families with the blood of Yeshua, put on our combat boots and - Onward Christian Soldiers - go to war for the US mid-term election outcome. She mentioned Joshua 6: 4 about the battle of Jerico and Isaiah 42: 13 which in my Complete Jewish Bible says:

Isaiah 42:13 Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)

13 ADONAI will go out like a soldier, like a soldier roused to the fury of battle; he will shout, yes, he raises the battle cry; as he triumphs over his foes.

She was calling on Yeshua to go before us and lead us in this battle to take ground in the US for His kingdom. . .

I then went and laid out an A3 sized map of the USA and while singing Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus, Onward Christian Soldiers, and the Battle Hymn of the Republic, I "walked" my hands ( in place of feet in combat boots) constantly over all the states of the US covering the voting public of the American people.

THE BATTLE HYMN OF THE REPUBLIC

(Three versions!)

Our NSW intercessor without warning then sent me this version of the Battle Hymn of the Republic which I watched and sang with:

As an old soldier I also sang along with this second version of the hymn:

[Note from Sara - this one is my favorite! :) ]

Or you may prefer this rendition of the hymn
I later did my morning Bible reading which included Psalm 96, the first verse of which is:
Oh, sing to the LORD a new song!
Sing to the LORD, all the earth.

In conclusion I encourage you to strengthen yourself in the Lord. Stand with the belt of truth tight around your waist, with the Lord's righteousness as your breastplate, and your combat boots fitted for the gospel of peace. Take up the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one, put on the helmet of salvation, and take up the sword of the Spirit. Go forth led by the Lord to sing and pray and intercede for the US mid-term elections to result in further progress of the USA returning to righteousness, justice, mercy, and truth.
With love in Christ Jesus,

Kris Schlyder

Coordinator
Australian Indigenous Prayer Network

BLESSED ASSURANCE

"For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain" (Phillippians 1:2)

Lyrics

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine;
Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

Refrain:

This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.

Perfect submission, perfect delight,
Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
Angels descending, bring from above
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

Refrain:

Perfect submission, all is at rest,
I in my Savior am happy and blest;
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

About the Author:

Words: Fanny Jane Crosby (1820-1915)

Melody: Phoebe Palmer Knapp (1839-1908)

About the Hymn:

Crosby was visiting her friend Phoebe Knapp as the Knapp home was having a large pipe organ installed. The organ was incomplete, so Mrs. Knapp, using the piano, played a new melody she had just composed. When Knapp asked Crosby, "What do you think the tune says?", Crosby replied, "Blessed assurance; Jesus is mine."

Huge underwater volcano chain discovered off the coast of Tasmania

While mapping the seafloor some 250 miles off the coast of the Australian island of Tasmania, scientists recently discovered what's being called a "volcanic lost world" deep underwater.

The chain of volcanic seamounts - huge undersea mountains that loom as tall as 9,800 feet, or more than six times taller than the Empire State Building - offer a glimpse into a previously unknown ocean ecosystem.

The seamounts vary in size and shape, with some having sharp peaks and others having plateaus, Tara Martin, a researcher with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation in Hobart, Tasmania, said in a statement. But even the tallest seamounts were still at least 6,500 feet below the ocean's surface.

The unexpected discovery, made by scientists aboard the organization's research ship Investigator during a 25-day mapping expedition, highlights just how little we really know about the bottom of the ocean. "We've only mapped a tiny fraction of the ocean floor," said Andrew Fisher, a marine geologist at the University of California, Santa Cruz, who was not involved in the new discovery. "We have more detailed maps of Mars, Venus and the moon than we do of the seafloor. Other planetary bodies can be mapped in high resolution with satellites, but on Earth, the water layer gets in the way. The only way is to go out with ships."
More than 80 percent of the ocean remains unmapped and unexplored, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. That's because it's difficult and time consuming to create detailed seafloor maps. Sonar-equipped research vessels like the Investigator must make a series of passes over an area in a process Fisher likened to mowing a lawn.

The Australian researchers plan to study the seamounts off Tasmania in greater detail during future expeditions over the next two months.

Strong New Support for a Pro-life Bill as US Bishops Endorse the Heartbeat Protection Act

The Heartbeat Protection Act would require abortionists to first test whether a fetal heartbeat can be detected, and then forbid committing an abortion if the answer is "yes." It allows an exception only for life-threatening physical circumstances (expressly rejecting exceptions for "psychological or emotional" health). Physicians who break the law would face up to five years in prison and/or a fine; women seeking abortions would not be punished.

The bill's lead sponsor, Rep. Steve King, R-IA, said in an Oct. 12 article that the USCCB has signaled its support for the measure.
"I made a trip to Kansas City to discuss H.R. 490 with Archbishop Joseph Naumann, who will soon chair the U.S. bishops' pro-life committee, and set up a phone discussion on 'Heartbeat' with Cardinal Daniel DiNardo, the president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, who agreed to speak with Cardinal Dolan, the current chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' Committee on Pro-Life Activities," King wrote in the National Catholic Register.
"Work and prayers do yield results," he continued. "I can now announce the 'Heartbeat Protection Act' has earned the endorsement of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops." (Read more)

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].

Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
