Tracking the Olympics

1. With rules suspended, intersex athlete to take center stage at Rio Olympics - USA Today

The International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF), track and field's governing body, has rules limiting the amount of naturally occurring functional testosterone allowed for female athletes. But today those limits are in limbo.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) suspended them last summer, citing insufficient evidence that high levels give female athletes a boost in performance. The IAAF has until next summer to make a case for its regulations or the court will abolish them. The Rio Games, meantime, fall during an interregnum where the rules don't apply. (Read more)

2. IS plans to hit US air bases in Mideast, warn Israelis who hacked into IS web group - Times of Israel

The Islamic State plans to target American air bases in Kuwait, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, an Israeli cyberintelligence company that claimed to have hacked the jihadist organization's Telegram communication group said on Wednesday.

Intsights, a Herzliya-based intelligence company, hacked into what they said was an Islamic State Telegram group in which the organization's operatives publish terror attack plans, according to a report by Channel 10 on Wednesday.

The company, which is run by former IDF intelligence officers, told the TV station the Islamic State uploads potential targets to the group, and in recent months some of the targets have been hit by individuals claiming allegiance to the terror organization. One such target presaged in the Telegram group was the church in Normandy, France, where local priest Father Jacques Hamel, 85, was murdered by jihadists on July 26.

The team managed to infiltrate the covert group, whose 500 members pinpoint targets in the expectation that a jihadist will carry out an attack there. (Read more)

Despite the chaos and warfare raging across the Middle East, the security situation in and around Israel is largely stable, thanks to the effective policies pursued by Israel's defense establishment.

1. Obama shortens sentences for 214 federal prisoners- CNN affiliate

President Barack Obama granted a history-making 214 commutations Wednesday, the highest number granted on a single day in more than a century. It's a continuation of his effort to reduce sentences for drug offenders, many of whom were punished under harsh sentencing laws that have since been relaxed.

Obama has now commuted the sentences for 562 individuals, more than the past nine presidents combined. Shortly after the commutations were announced, Obama took to his Facebook page to post about the inspiration for his action.

"This is a country that believes in second chances," Obama wrote. "So we've got to make sure that our criminal justice system works for everyone."

- Father, unfortunately, many of these offenders likely did have a "second chance" before incarceration. We pray that they will not be let out with no supervision, but that they will have resources to keep them from returning to their addictions. We pray for protection for Your people who work in rehabilitation and a move of Your Spirit among the offenders to set them free.

- "Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise Your name; the righteous shall surround me" (Psalm142:7a)

2. A Look Inside 4 Important Goals of the LGBT Movement - Daily Signal

Despite being proud of advances they've made during eight years under President Barack Obama, leaders of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender movement say they still have work to do. "The future of the LGBT movement hinges largely on the outcome of this election," Kevin Jennings, executive director of the Arcus Foundation, said at a global LGBT summit held in Philadelphia during the Democratic National Convention.

Jennings, issuing a warning to a mostly friendly audience, said there are "two very different visions for LGBT equality in the Republican and Democratic platforms."

More than 25 prominent leaders of the national LGBT movement, including elected officials and other influential voices, gathered for the four-day event called the Equality Forum. (Read more)

- Christians who hold fast to a heterosexual relationship in marriage as the biblical and God-sanctioned position often do not work or pray in unity as this movement is doing. We must put our own house in order and present a unified, prayerful, and loving witness to the freedom Jesus Christ brings through the Gospel.

- "But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: 'Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.'" (Matthew 12:25)

3. SCOTUS: School can block transgender teen from boys' room - Fox News

A Virginia school board can block a transgender male from using the boys restroom when school starts next month, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled Wednesday.

In a 5-3 decision, the high court put on hold a lower court ruling that ordered the Gloucester County School Board to let Gavin Grimm use the bathroom that matches his gender identity. The school board is expected to ask the justices to further intervene in the case later this month. The decision means Grimm will be barred from using the boys bathroom for at least the first half of his senior year, said Josh Block, an attorney with the American Civil Liberties Union who's representing Grimm.

The appeals court reinstated Grimm's Title IX claim and sent it back to the district court for further consideration. But the high court's decision Wednesday puts Grimm's case on hold until the justices decide whether to intervene.

Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan dissented. Justice Stephen Breyer said he agreed to put the case on hold to "preserve the status quo" until the court decides whether to weigh in. (Read more)

- Lord, we thank You for this temporary victory against the Transgender bathroom policy. It all now hinges on the next appointee to the Supreme Court- and Your perfect will for America. We ask for a move of Your Spirit to free these young people from the lies of the enemy.

- "Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord."
(Psalm 34:11)

4. Paul Ryan, Wasserman Schultz to test anti-establishment mood - Ynet News

House Speaker Paul Ryan and Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz are about to test voters' anti-establishment mood, first hand. Fifteen states from Florida to Arizona still have House primaries in an election year that's seen both parties' supporters seethe against Washington. That includes challenges against the Wisconsin Republican Ryan and the Florida Democrat Wasserman Schultz, who abruptly resigned recently as chair of the Democratic National Committee. Each of them seems likely to prevail. But surprises can happen in low-turnout summer primaries. (Read more)

5. Tim Kaine promises bill to legalize illegal immigrants in 'first 100 days' - Washington Times

PHILADELPHIA - A new Clinton administration would pursue a bill to legalize illegal immigrants in "the first 100 days" of her tenure, vice presidential candidate Tim Kaine told Spanish-language network Telemundo in an interview Monday, presenting a deep contrast with Republicans.

Mr. Kaine also predicted that House Republicans, who stopped President Obama's last bid for legalization in 2013, will reverse themselves next year and said House Speaker Paul D. Ryan will lead the GOP to embrace legalization.

"Paul Ryan and the other leaders of his party are going to understand that if they want a future for their party they are going to have to work together to find a solution to this," Mr. Kaine told "Noticias Telemundo," according to a transcript provided by the network. (Read more)

- Father, You know the dangers that illegal immigration pose to the United States. We pray that You will stop this plan from coming to fruition.

- "For You have delivered my soul fro death, my eyes from tears, and my feet from falling." (Psalm 116:8)

6. Khizr Khan Believes the Constitution 'Must Always Be Subordinated to the Sharia' - Breitbart

Notwithstanding his war-hero son's genuinely patriotic example, Khizr M. Khan has published papers supporting the supremacy of Islamic law over "man-made" Western law - including the very Constitution he championed in his Democratic National Convention speech attacking GOP presidential nod Donald Trump.

In 1983, for example, Khan wrote a glowing review of a book compiled from a seminar held in Kuwait called "Human Rights In Islam" in which he singles out for praise the keynote address of fellow Pakistani Allah K. Brohi, a pro-jihad Islamic jurist who was one of the closest advisers to late Pakistani dictator Gen. Zia ul-Haq, the father of the Taliban movement.

Khan speaks admiringly of Brohi's interpretation of human rights, even though it included the right to kill and mutilate those who violate Islamic laws and even the right of men to "beat" wives who act "unseemly." (Read more)

- Father, we thank You that more truth is now being revealed about the past actions of Mr. Khan, and about his possible motives in coming against the Republican candidate for President of the United States. We ask You to forgive him, and we ask that You intervene so that all that is spoken on the campaign trails of both parties be done decently and in order. In Your name, amen.

- "End the evil of those who are wicked, and defend the righteous. For you look deep within the mind and heart, O righteous God." (Psalm 7:9 NLT)

7. 41 US service members, 1 pregnant woman, have contracted Zika overseas- Fox News

At least 41 American service members, including one pregnant woman, have been diagnosed with the Zika virus while on active duty overseas, a Pentagon spokesperson told Fox News Wednesday.

The Pentagon said that seven family members of those servicemen and women also have contracted the virus, which usually leads to mild symptoms, but can cause severe birth defects in children and has been linked to paralysis.

The Pentagon told Fox News that all of the troops contracted Zika overseas, and are being treated at undisclosed locations, citing privacy concerns.

The two types of mosquitoes known to carry the virus- including its primary vector, the Aedes aegypti- are found at nearly 200 stateside installations ranging from Texas and Florida to New York, Military.com reported. (Read more)

8. IS plans to hit US air bases in Mideast, warn Israelis who hacked into IS web group- Times of Israel

The Islamic State terror group has issued a specific call to leading activists to target air bases used by the US in Kuwait, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, an Israeli cyberintelligence company that claimed to have hacked the jihadist organization's Telegram communication group warned on Wednesday.

The Israeli company, which is run by former IDF intelligence officers, told the TV station the Islamic State uploads potential targets to the group, and in recent months some of the targets have been hit by individuals claiming allegiance to the terror organization. (Read more)

- Lord, we again ask Your protection over our military in all parts of the earth. Thank You for the heads up knowledge given to them by this Israeli company.

- "For You will light my lamp; the Lord My God will enlighten my darkness. For by You will can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall." (Psalm 18:28,29)

9. Woman killed in London attack was an American, police say - Fox News

An American woman was killed and five other people injured in a stabbing attack in London's Russell Square by a Norwegian man of Somali origin who was arrested after the incident, authorities said.

The investigation "increasingly points to this tragic incident as having been triggered by mental-health issues," Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley said.

"So far we have found no evidence of radicalization or anything that would suggest the man in our custody was motivated by terrorism," Rowley said.

He said the woman who died was a 60-year-old American, and the five injured people are British, American, Israeli and Australian. None had life-threatening injuries. Two remain in a hospital, while three others have been discharged. (Read more)

- Father, we pray for the family of this woman murdered, and for those who survived this knife attack. You alone know the motivation of this man. We pray that truth be revealed in all areas - both from the man's life and the police viewpoint.

10. Christians in Russia Refuse to Stop Sharing the Gospel Despite Putin's Ban on Evangelism - Christian Post

Christians in Russia have said they are determined to preach the Gospel and fulfill the Great Commission despite tough new laws signed by President Vladimir Putin that ban evangelism outside of churches. The Slavic Centre for Law and Justice, an affiliate of the American Center for Law and Justice, said a new manner of carrying out missionary work in Russia will have to be established.

The law bans all missionary activities in residential areas and requires Christians who want to share their faith with others, even on the internet, to obtain authorization documents from a religious association. It also imposes a fine of $75 to $765 if the violator is a Russian citizen, and a fine of up to $15,265 in case of an organization, while foreigners would be deported, The Christian Post reported last month. (Read more)

- Lord, we rejoice in this decision by the Christians of Russia to continue to share Your word regardless of the consequences. We ask for Your Mighty protection over them, and the moving of Your Spirit before and around them, bringing the fear of the Lord.

- "Do not touch My anointed ones, and do My prophets no harm." (Psalm 105:15)

- Lord, we don't know what will happen in November, but we seriously pray that our national security would take precedence over many of the issues that currently swirl in politics. We ask You to protect us, Lord, and to have mercy over our nation.

Political and prophetic truth and Democrats and Islam

It has been revealed that the US "president" paid Iran a $400 million ransom for the return of four American prisoners. So he negotiated with the world's foremost Islamic terrorist state and paid them for setting free Americans who were wrongly imprisoned. Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton told a reporter from an NBC News affiliate, "Actually, this is kind of old news." Yes, kind of like "What difference does it make?" Then there is the firestorm over an Islamic lawyer whose US soldier son was killed in Iraq. Khizr Khan, a featured speaker at the Democratic Convention, says "our" Constitution requires us to continue the nonstop importation of Muslims. Americans need to see the pattern here.

In the Democratic Party, it's all about Islam. But Americans, in general, are not getting it. Islam is at war with America. The Democratic Party is embracing Islam. There is no question. The "president" opens the borders to hundreds of thousands of Muslims with no way to tell which ones are terrorists. Hillary Clinton wants to quadruple that number. The "president" pays Iran for hostages and to build out its nuclear program after ten years. Hillary Clinton says its old news. On the biggest Democratic platform, Khizr Khan says "our" Constitution requires Muslim immigration and when he is called out on this fallacy, the media writes that because he lost a son in Iraq, nobody can challenge his assertion.

Investigative reporter Wayne Madsen sees the trend. Writing for Infowars, Madsen reports: "And here we run the circle back to Khan's favorite candidate, Hillary Clinton. Clinton's close aide and reported lesbian lover, Huma Abedin, has close links to radical Wahhabist Islam through her mother, the Pakistani-born Saleha Mahmood Abedin. Saleha Abedin resides in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and teaches sociology at Dar Al-Hekma College in Jeddah." And yes, we all know the Muslim Brotherhood ties to Abedin, and to Clinton's running mate, Tim Kaine. So why all things Muslim with the Democrats? The Democratic Party leadership is comprised of hardline socialists and communists. Islam is in alignment with totalitarianism.

The "president" is a proven Islamist Marxist-not entirely by his words, but by his deeds. Clinton is a Saul Alinsky communist. Illegal and open border immigration is the fastest ticket to the overthrowing of the Constitutional Republic of the United States. Deflecting the obvious by labeling those who point it out as racists, bigots or worse is the tactic used to confuse the issue. The political reality also relates to the prophetic. Biblical prophets point toward the Arab/Islamic nations as those who come against Israel (and the Messiah) in the Day of the Lord. It stands to reason that communists and Islamists align in the Beast empire. 2 John 7 says, "For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist." Communism and Islam both deny Christ.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Supreme Court Blocks Transgender Bathroom Ruling

WASHINGTON - Today the U.S. Supreme Court in a 5-3 ruling blocked the federal court of appeals decision on the so-called transgender bathroom decision. In G.G. v. Gloucester County School Board, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the federal law known as Title IX should be interpreted to include "gender identity" and thus that court ruled that a girl who wants to identify as a boy should be able to use the boy's restroom.

The federal court of appeals ruling lacks legal authority and clearly goes against the clear meaning of "sex" when that law was adopted decades ago.

Today, five Supreme Court justices blocked the ruling from going into effect. The school board intends to file a request to the Supreme Court asking the Court to review the merits of the case and to reverse the federal court decision.

In a short opinion, Justice Breyer stated that he cast the fifth vote "as a courtesy" to preserve the status quo. Justice Ginsburg, Sotomayor and Kagan dissented.

"This is very good news that the Supreme Court blocked this silly ruling that says a girl can use the boy's restroom and vice versa," said Mat Staver, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel. "The federal law never intended to allow people to change their general by fanaticizing they are something other than reality. This is the stuff of make believe and fantasy and should not be engaged in by learned judges. I am pleased the Supreme Court blocked this ruling before children return to school," said Staver. 'ISIS Is Not the Problem,' Says Christian Convert Tortured and Thrown to Dogs

[Excerpt]

Shafie never lost his faith throughout the ordeal, and recalled a "miracle" moment when the guards let a pack of dogs into his cell, expecting them to maul him.

"Quite honestly many people don't believe in miracles and that's fine, but when they released the dogs I sat in the corner and covered my face to the best of my ability," he explained. "I tried to protect my back and chest. The dogs came and I prepared for pain and agony but I could not feel any."

"I moved my arms and the dogs were sitting around me. None of them moved toward me. The dogs just didn't move," he continued. "The prison guards got another set of dogs and the same thing happened, but this time one of the dogs licked my face."

. . . "ISIS is not the problem, before them it was al-Qaeda, before them it was Hezbollah and Hamas and before them there were other organisations," he stressed. "The problem is the ideology of the extremists and the Muslim community has to work with us."
. . . Shafie was later granted asylum in Canada and founded his charity, which focuses on the persecution of Christians in the Middle East and operates in 28 countries. (Read more)

China Sends Prominent House Church Leader to Jail

A prominent Christian church leader has become the latest to be jailed by Chinese courts during a week of activist trials and public confessions that have shocked international observers.

Hu Shigen, a leader of an underground church movement, was found guilty of subversion, sentenced to seven years and six months' imprisonment and derived of political rights for five years.

Previously, Hu spent 16 years in prison for other political offences, including sharing leaflets about China's 1989 crackdown on protesters in Tiananmen Square.

A Chinese court in Tianjin, 60 miles south-east of Beijing, is this week rolling out a string of court sentences against rights activists and lawyers that observers claim have almost zero credibility. (The Guardian)

BATTLE HYMN OF THE REPUBLIC

"He will thunder from His holy dwelling and roar mightily against His land. He will shout like those who tread the grapes, shout against all who live on earth." (Jeremiah 25:30)

Lyrics

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord; He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored; He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword; His truth is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! His truth is marching on.

I have seen Him in the watch fires of a hundred circling camps They have builded Him an altar in the evening dews and damps; I can read His righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps; His day is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! His day is marching on.

I have read a fiery Gospel writ in burnished rows of steel; "As ye deal with My contemners, so with you My grace shall deal"; Let the Hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with His heel, Since God is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Since God is marching on.

He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat; He is sifting out the hearts of men before His judgment seat; Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him! be jubilant, my feet; Our God is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Our God is marching on.

In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea, With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me: As He died to make men holy, let us live to make men free; [originally . . . let us die to make men free] While God is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! While God is marching on.

He is coming like the glory of the morning on the wave, He is wisdom to the mighty, He is honor to the brave; So the world shall be His footstool, and the soul of wrong His slave, Our God is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!

How Christianity Is "Exploding" in Iran: Beautiful Testimonies Born from Tragic Lives

(Iran)-[CBN News] Christians in Iran face imprisonment, beatings, and even death. But the Church continues to grow at a rapid rate.

In 1979, when the Islamic revolution swept to power there were only about 500 Muslim Background Believers, according to the reference book "Operation World." It estimates that today there are at least 100,000 MBB's and [in] some places the number [is] as high as 1 million.

Dissatisfaction with the harsh Islamic regime and disillusionment with Islam in general are part of the shift, but the main reason is bold outreach by Christians inside the country, Mark Howard of Elam Ministries told CBN News. (Read more)

We meet at 7:00 p.m. EDT, Monday through Friday, in an "open forum." We have no set agenda, but to seek Him daily for the burdens of His heart, and to pray them through . . .
All are welcome to join us in this exciting new venture!
