A half-million foreign tourists, dozens of heads of state and the attention of the world's media. If there were ever a headache for anti-terror forces, it's the Olympics.

If the nightmare of blocked toilets followed by a fire wasn't bad enough for the Australian athletes in the Rio Olympic village, to add insult to injury, they've also had property stolen during an evacuation of the team's building.
Australian Chef de Mission Kitty Chiller, who has had to deal with her team's discontent, said a laptop and Zika-protective team shirts had been stolen by people who entered the building during the evacuation.
Approximately 100 athletes were evacuated Friday after a small fire broke out in the basement car park of the Olympic Village apartments housing the Australian team.
"When I arrived midway through the evacuation, I saw three fire (marshals) walking out with our team shirts," Chiller told reporters. "I should take back fire marshals -- I don't know who they were. They were not team members." (Read more)
5. Zika is among reasons many Americans skipping Rio Olympics - USA Today
RIO DE JANEIRO - June 22, 2016 - The Olympic Games are still more than a month away, but the number of Americans expected to attend has plummeted over concerns about Brazil's insecurity, political instability and the ever-spreading Zika virus.
Original estimates had about 200,000 Americans expected to attend the Rio Games, but a senior U.S. official said that number is now closer to 100,000. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly on the issue. (Read more)

1. IDF looks to a 'one-network' army to fight future wars - Times of Israel
As Israel marks a decade since the Second Lebanon War, the army has used the past 10 years to take stock of lessons learned from the conflict.
One of the key changes has been to make a technological push to increase collaboration between the Israel Defense Forces' various military arms so that the air and ground forces, the navy and intelligence corps can join efforts on the battlefield based on real-time information they receive.
"Today, instead of the army adding budgets for more units or planes or ships, the push it so invest in better connecting the existing forces and increase their effectiveness through collaborative activities," said Yariv Nir, head of the army's operations department in the signal (C41) corps, in an interview with The Times of Israel. 2. Palestinians condemn 'Israelization' of Jerusalem - Israel National News
The Palestinian Authority and members of the Israeli Arab population slammed the Education Ministry for its "Israelizing" policies in education in the eastern part of Jerusalem.
The Palestinian Ministry of Education criticised the Jerusalem policies in a statement published on July 30. The statement was signed by Palestinian Education Minister Sabi Saydem, by several Israeli Arab public figures, and by Israeli-Arab MKs Ahmed Tibi and Jamal Zahalka. (Read more)
3. Egypt rankled by Hamas's burgeoning ties to Islamic State - Times of Israel
Cairo is fuming over increasing cooperation between the Palestinian terror group Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, and Islamic State-affiliated forces in the neighboring Sinai Peninsula, The Times of Israel has learned, despite attempts in recent months to alleviate the tension between Egypt and Gaza.
In an effort to curb that collaboration, Egypt has relayed to Hamas leaders that it is aware of the links between its senior activists in the Rafah border area and commanders in the Islamic State's Sinai Province. (Read more)
4. New Rocket Unveiled By Islamic Jihad At Gaza Family Festival - Breitbart
The Al-Quds Brigades, the group's military wing in charge of the unveiling, did not specify the rocket's precise capabilities. However, the report said it was capable of striking Israel, saying, "the upgraded weapons show that the Al-Quds Brigades are ready to repel any Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip."
The festival honors terrorists who died or were wounded while carrying out attacks against Israel and features a "military parade" in which small children - including babies - are dressed as jihadi militants, armed with toy guns and other weapons. (Read more)

1. Two Dead, 100 Rescued After Flooding Causes 'Tremendous Devastation' in Maryland - NBC News
Two people were swept away to their deaths and more than 100 others had to be rescued after heavy rains caused severe damage in Maryland over the weekend.
Almost 6 inches of rain fell in Ellicott City from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., the equivalent of a full month's normal rainfall, Howard County Executive Allan Kittleman said Sunday afternoon.
The Patapsco River, which runs through the area, rose more than 13 feet Saturday night, according to the National Weather Service.
Kittleman called it "a terrible, terrible, horrific incident," adding: "It looks like a war zone."
The bodies of Joseph Anthony Blevins, 38, and Jessica Watsula, 35, were recovered after they were killed in separate incidents when they were carried off by the rushing water, Kittleman said later.
Photos showed damaged buildings - some stripped of windows and doors - and collapsed roadways in Ellicott City, a community of 65,000 in Howard County about 12 miles west of Baltimore. At least four homes were destroyed, and 20 to 30 others sustained substantial damage, the county said. (Read more)

2. Donald Trump's Confrontation With Muslim Soldier's Parents Emerges as Unexpected Flash Point - NYTimes
Mr. and Ms. Khan stiffened their denunciation of Mr. Trump on Sunday, saying that he lacked the moral character and empathy to be president. Mr. Khan, who addressed the Democratic National Convention on Thursday, said on "Meet the Press" on NBC that Mr. Trump had shown disrespect to his wife, and he accused Mr. Trump of running a campaign "of hatred, of derision, of dividing us."
In a direct appeal to voters inclined to support Mr. Trump, Mr. Khan pleaded with them to reject his brand of politics.
Addressing "patriotic Americans that would probably vote for Donald Trump," Mr. Khan said, "I appeal to them not to vote for hatred, not to vote for fear-mongering. Vote for unity. Vote for the goodness of this country." (Read more)

4. Franklin Graham: Allowing Muslim Refugees Would Risk Christians' Security in US - Christian Post
Evangelist Franklin Graham said allowing tens of thousands of Muslim refugees into the United States, as President Barack Obama wants, could mean attacks on Christians in the country just as they are being targeted elsewhere, pointing to the killing of a Christian priest in Normandy, France, last week.
"President Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and some other politicians want to allow tens of thousands of Muslim refugees into this country. A few days ago two Muslim men went into a Catholic Church in France in the name of ISIS and brutally slit the throat of an 85-year-old priest," Graham, president of Samaritan's Purse and Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, wrote in a Facebook post.
"The self-proclaimed ISIS soldiers shouted 'Allahu Akbar' as they ran from the church," Graham pointed out, adding, "Unless something is done, it's just a matter of time before we see this happen here in the United States." (Read more)

PARIS (AP) - You can't put a guard in every church and patrol every beach. But after a wave of attacks in Western Europe, authorities are struggling to protect their people as best they can. The French Riviera city of Cannes has banned large backpacks on beaches lest they hide explosives, and Britain is providing extra funding for security at tens of thousands of places of worship.
The grisly slaying this week of an elderly priest celebrating Mass in a Normandy church, less than two weeks after 84 revelers were mowed down by a truck on a beachfront promenade in Nice, sounded the alarm that nothing is sacred and no place is safe. Four attacks in a week in Germany sealed that conviction.
"Churches take great pride in being open. But there comes a time when the reality of crime and the reality of terrorism may mean that some of that balance needs to be readjusted," said Mark Gardner, spokesman for Community Security Trust which provides extensive protection to Jewish synagogues and schools throughout Britain. Hillary Clinton touts her tenure as secretary of state as a time of hardheaded realism and "commercial diplomacy" that advanced American national and commercial interests. But her handling of a major technology transfer initiative at the heart of Washington's effort to "reset" relations with Russia raises serious questions about her record. Far from enhancing American national interests, Mrs. Clinton's efforts in this area may have substantially undermined U.S. national security.
What is known is that the State Department recruited and facilitated the commitment of billions of American dollars in the creation of a Russian "Silicon Valley" whose technological innovations include Russian hypersonic cruise-missile engines, radar surveillance equipment, and vehicles capable of delivering airborne Russian troops. 7. An After School Satan Club could be coming to your kid's elementary school - Washington Post
Doug Mesner, who goes by the professional name Lucien Greaves, is co-founder and spokesman for the Satanic Temple, a group of political activists who are seeking to establish After School Satan Clubs as a counterpart to fundamentalist Christian Good News Clubs, which they see as an attempt to infiltrate public education and erode the constitutional separation of church and state. But the group's plan for public schoolchildren isn't actually about promoting worship of the devil. The Satanic Temple doesn't espouse a belief in the existence of a supernatural being that other religions identify solemnly as Satan, or Lucifer, or Beelzebub. The Temple rejects all forms of supernaturalism and is committed to the view that scientific rationality provides the best measure of reality. . . The group says meetings will include a healthful snack, literature lesson, creative learning activities, a science lesson, puzzle solving and an art project. Every child will receive a membership card and must have a signed parental permission slip to attend.
In 2001, in a case that commanded the resources of powerful legal advocacy groups on the religious right, including the Alliance Defending Freedom and the Liberty Counsel, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that to exclude an after-school program on account of the religious views of its sponsors amounted to a violation of free-speech rights. "We would like to thank the Liberty Counsel specifically for opening the doors to the After School Satan Clubs through their dedication to religious liberty," Greaves explained to the gathering of chapter heads in Salem. "So, 'the Satanic Temple leverages religious freedom laws that put after-school clubs in elementary schools nationwide.' That's going to be the message."
The Liberty Counsel agrees that the Satanic Temple has a right to organize its clubs in public schools and takes the view that they can't be banned so long as they're not disruptive or engaging in rituals that put people at risk. "I would definitely oppose after¬-school Satanic clubs, but they have a First Amendment right to meet," said Mat Staver, Liberty Counsel's founder and chairman. "I suspect, in this particular case, I can't imagine there's going to be a lot of students participating in this. It's probably dust they're kicking up and is likely to fade away in the near future for lack of interest." (Read more)

8. Egypt air force strikes ISIS explosives plant in Sinai, 46 dead - Ynet News
Sky News reported Sunday that 46 armed men in the northern Sinai region were killed by an Egyptian air force Airstrike. The Egyptians' target was, according it Sky, a plant manufacturing explosives.
According to Egyptian security officials, their intelligence indicated that a large number of Islamic State (ISIS) members were concentrated in the area, and so they executed the strikes. (Read more)

9. NASA to launch probe to investigate 'Armageddon' asteroid - The Independent UK
NASA is planning to launch a probe to collect rock samples from an asteroid it fears could one day hit the Earth. The asteroid, named Bennu, can be seen from Earth as it crosses our orbit every six years. Bennu, which is around 500 metres in diameter at its equator and travels around the sun at 63,000 mph, will pass between Earth and the moon in 2135.
"That 2135 fly-by is going to tweak Bennu's orbit, potentially putting it on course for the Earth later that century," Dante Lauretta, professor of planetary science at Arizona University, told The Sunday Times.
Mr Lauretta, NASA's principal investigator in charge of the Osiris-Rex probe mission to Bennu, launching in September, said the probe will map the asteroid, pick up some rock samples and then head back to Earth. He said information on the asteroid's size, mass and composition could be vital data for future generations.
Osiris-Rex will arrive at Bennu in 2018 and will spend a year surveying the asteroid's chemical makeup, mineralogy and geologic history. Information gathered during the observation will help scientists understand how its course is affected by absorbing and radiating sunlight as heat. The probe will then take a sample from the asteroid before heading back to Earth for 2023. (Read more)

10. MH370 was flown into water 'deliberately', crash expert says - The Telegraph UK
"I think the fuselage is intact for the most part, and is on the bottom of the Indian Ocean," Mr Vance said.
The discovery of the flaperon, which showed damage consistent with the force of water, should have prompted experts to conclude the crash was caused by a rogue pilot, Mr Vance said. "Everybody should then have concluded in my opinion that this was a human engineered event, there's no other explanation," Mr Vance said.
Meanwhile a large wing part believed to be from the missing plane was brought to Canberra for analysis after it was found by locals on Pemba Island off the coast of Tanzania in June. (Read more)

Clinton to raise taxes by a trillion
Now that Hillary Clinton has made history by being the first woman nominated to be president by the Democratic Party, there will be another first if she is elected--to raise taxes on you by ONE TRILLION dollars. She says that she will try not to raise taxes on Americans making less than $250,000, but her proposals say otherwise. She wants an increase in the death tax-so government can take your inheritance; increase payroll taxes-money you will never see; a tax increase on gun purchases, soda drink purchases, income taxes, and $400 billion in what she calls a "fairness tax." That means you are really going to get hammered. All the while, Clintons donors are finding loopholes to avoid paying taxes. Take a look.
Mossack Fonseca is a law firm that registers offshore companies to evade taxes and launder money. Recently, a leak of its client base through the "Panama Papers" indicated a "who's who" of close friends of Clinton and her philandering husband. McClatchy News reports among them are Gabrielle Flalkoff, finance director for Hillary Clinton's first US Senate campaign; the Chagoury family, which pledged $1 billion in projects to the Clinton Global Initiative; and Chinese billionaire Ng Lap Seng, who was at the center of a Democratic fund-raising scandal when Bill Clinton was president; and late billionaire investor Marc Rich an international fugitive when Bill Clinton pardoned him in the final hours of his presidency.
It will take years to unravel the Friends of Clintons shenanigans to evade taxes, and perhaps even launder money to unscrupulous causes (think Saudi Arabia, Huma Abidin, Muslim Brotherhood, etc.) using offshore accounts and the scandal-ridden Clinton Foundation. But the hypocrisy of Hillary Clinton is further exposed by her rhetoric against offshore accounts to avoid paying taxes. McClatchy reports that at the recent AFL-CIO convention she condemned what she called "outrageous tax havens and loopholes that super-rich people across the world are exploiting...Now, some of this behavior is clearly against the law, and everyone who violates the law anywhere should be held accountable." Accountable, really?
Hillary Clinton is proposing a ONE TRILLION dollar tax increase if she is elected. She goes around the country condemning the rich and their tax avoidance. She collects hundreds of thousands of dollars for her speeches (which is essentially legal money laundering for her campaign). Yet her closest allies, who give her and her husband hundreds of millions of dollars, are suspected money launderers and tax evaders. There is a warning in Proverbs 22:16, saying, "He that oppresses the poor to increase his riches, and he that gives to the rich, shall surely come to want." Clinton and her ilk oppress the poor while saying they support the poor. Those that give her a vote will see fruits of coming to want. She is a destructive person by virtue of her history and body of work.

Dem nominees and terrorists: Follow the money
Eight years ago on August 5, 2008, Federal Election Commission filings for the Democratic Presidential nominee indicated that he took some $29,500 in illegal campaign contributions from two Palestinians living in the Hamas-controlled Gaza. This information circulated for several days, but WorldNetDaily's Aaron Klein, tracked down the two brothers in the Tal Esaltan area of the Rafah refugee camp. Klein was unable to confirm if they were connected to the terrorist group Hamas, but he did confirm that they were not US citizens and that they contributed beyond the legal limits by any individual to a presidential campaign. Continued digging into the money trail demonstrated a pattern that continues with the current nominee.
The FEC continued investigating the contributions in 2008, but there was nothing ever done about them despite documented incidents of campaign finance violations. A host of accusations ranged from accepting money from non-US citizens for a political campaign; using the Internet for illegal financial solicitations; receiving more than theallowed $2,300 from any individual for any campaign; falsifying records to hide illegal contributors, and so on. The mainstream media gave it virtually no attention. Currently, the Clinton Foundation has received huge sums of Islamic money. This support provides a solid financial base for Hillary Clinton to campaign for president, some call it money laundering.
Connecting the dots in August 2008, there was an ever-increasing case to be made about the support of the radical Islamic world for the future "president's" campaign--and worse yet, his support for radical Islamists. Libyan dictator Moammar Qadafi said that the future "president" is a Muslim who claimed to be a Christian in order to win the US presidency. The future "president" supported his cousin Raila Odinga for Kenya's presidency resulting in a bloody purge of Christians and an agreement with Islam to establish Sharia law upon his victory. His fundraiser Hatem El-Hady once headed an Islamic front charity that was shut down by the US government for raising money for Hamas and other terrorist factions.
The "president's" campaign started in Chicago at the home of unrepentant former head of the Weathermen terrorist group, Bill Ayers and his wife Bernardine Dohrn, who was once on the FBI's most wanted list. These are all people who hate America and want to see the Republic replaced with their brand of communism or Islamic fascism. Isaiah 30:9 says, "That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the Lord." Eight years ago, The Daily Jot covered this. Since then, there has been a terror attack on American soil every year. Today, there is a candidate and running mate with similar ties to terrorism. The funding, the connections, the history are all there. We cannot afford another four years of increased terrorism because of wrong-minded philosophy and "friends" in Islamic nations.

Donald Trump was on the defensive this weekend. During an interview with former Clinton employee George Stephanopoulos, Trump was asked to react to a vicious attack leveled at him at the Democrat convention by Khizr Kahn, the father of a Muslim U.S. soldier who was killed in the Iraq war. Trump's answer was disjointed. Instead of turning the question into an opportunity to go after Hillary Clinton, Trump took the bait and found himself in a major flap with the Gold Star parents of a fallen U.S. soldier.
Big left-wing media and the entire power of the "progressive" political kill machine have been attacking Trump ever since. The same TV networks that have ignored the parents of American heroes who died in Benghazi in part because Hillary Clinton ignored their pleas for better security were quick to give the Kahns a big platform. Mr. Khan was a guest on CNN's State of the Union. Mrs. Khan has an op-ed in this morning's Washington Post.
In contrast, Pat Smith, mother of Sean Smith, who was murdered in Benghazi, was treated like dirt because she attacked Hillary Clinton, not Donald Trump. MSNBC called her speech offensive and called Khan's memorable. Chris Matthews said, "I don't care what that woman [Pat Smith] up there, the mother, has felt. Her emotions are her own." The Washington Post actually "fact-checked" Mrs. Smith's heartfelt plea for justice for her son.
Over the weekend Trump made it clear he believes that Khan's son, Captain Humayun Khan, was an American hero. Governor Pence issued a statement agreeing and adding that he and Trump believe that Captain Khan's " . . . family, like all Gold Star families, should be cherished by every American."
I agree! All Gold Star families have suffered a grievous loss and have earned the thanks of our nation. But the Kahn's loss does not change the reality facing our nation as Islamists launch attacks across Europe and here in the United States.
Governor Pence went on to bring the debate back to where it belonged - How do we defeat Islamic supremacists? How do we make our country safe again? Pence stated:
"Captain Khan gave his life to defend our country in the global war on terror . . . Due to the disastrous decisions of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, a once stable Middle East has now been overrun by ISIS. This must not stand.
"By suspending immigration from countries that have been compromised by terrorism, rebuilding our military, defeating ISIS at its source and projecting strength on the global stage, we will reduce the likelihood that other American families will face the enduring heartbreak of the Khan family... Donald Trump will support our military and their families and we will defeat the enemies of our freedom." (Gary Bauer)

U.S. APPROVES UN USE OF FORCE TO PROTECT(?) CIVILIANS IN CONFLICT
The United States has announced its support for a set of principles that give a green light for U.N. peacekeeping troops and police to use force to protect civilians in armed conflicts. [This agreement was signed by President Obama July 1, 2016.] (Click here to read the Executive Order) U.S. Ambassador Samantha Power told a high-level U.N. meeting Wednesday focusing on the responsibility to protect civilians that the United States was "proud" and "humbled" to join 28 other countries that have pledged to abide by the 18 pledges.
- Pray for justice tempered with mercy. Although UN motives are suspect when it comes to relations with the U.S., pray that these principles will be effective to protect civilian citizens when international conflict breaks out. The most effective prayer is for God's will to prevail, as He puts up rulers and takes them down in fulfilling His purposes.
- "Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, for wisdom and might are His. And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding. He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with Him." (Dan. 2:20-22)

Iranian Ministry of Intelligence Denies Christian Prisoner Conditional Release
An Iranian court has refused to release Iranian female Christian prisoner, saying intelligence forces do not want her out of prison. This is while there are signs of her developing MS disease.
Mohabat News - It is now two weeks since female Christian prisoner, Maryam (Nasim) Naghash Zargaran resumed her hunger strike and new reports indicate that her health is deteriorating quickly. Her body has become very weak, posing an ever increasing health risk due to her heart condition.
Clinical staff in prison have expressed their serious concern over her poor health condition. (Read more)

Mysterious Smiley Face Appears in Hawaiian Volcano During Eruption
A Hawaiian volcano was ready for its close-up.
A smiley face was spotted in the Kilauea volcano's crater during an eruption.
Mick Kalber of helicopter tour company Paradise Helicopters captured the remarkable scene.
The Kilauea volcano has been continuously erupting since 1983, making it one of the most active volcanoes in the world, according to the United States Geological Survey.
Lava from the Hawaiian volcano's Pu'u O'o crater reached the ocean for the first time since 2013. (ABC News) Read more here.

Israel Proves the Desalination Era Is Here
Ten miles south of Tel Aviv, I stand on a catwalk over two concrete reservoirs the size of football fields and watch water pour into them from a massive pipe emerging from the sand. The pipe is so large I could walk through it standing upright, were it not full of Mediterranean seawater pumped from an intake a mile offshore.
"Now, that's a pump!" Edo Bar-Zeev shouts to me over the din of the motors, grinning with undisguised awe at the scene before us. The reservoirs beneath us contain several feet of sand through which the seawater filters before making its way to a vast metal hangar, where it is transformed into enough drinking water to supply 1.5 million people.
We are standing above the new Sorek desalination plant, the largest reverse-osmosis desal facility in the world, and we are staring at Israel's salvation. Just a few years ago, in the depths of its worst drought in at least 900 years, Israel was running out of water. Now it has a surplus. That remarkable turnaround was accomplished through national campaigns to conserve and reuse Israel's meager water resources, but the biggest impact came from a new wave of desalination plants.
Driven by necessity, Israel is learning to squeeze more out of a drop of water than any country on Earth, and much of that learning is happening at the Zuckerberg Institute, where researchers have pioneered new techniques in drip irrigation, water treatment and desalination. They have developed resilient well systems for African villages and biological digesters than can halve the water usage of most homes. (Scientific American) Read more.
