A Rainbow over the Supreme Court

This photo of the front of the Supreme Court was taken the night before the hearings on gay marriage: Monday, April 27, at sunset. Please remain with us in prayer over the pending decision on traditional marriage until the verdict has been rendered.

" . . . from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. . . What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder." (Mark 10: 6,9)

Thank You, Lord, for watching over this Court. In Jesus' name, amen.

"Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the LORD, who has compassion on you." (Isaiah 54:10)

1. With less than 2 hours to spare, Netanyahu secures a coalition - Times of Israel

Less than two hours before his deadline was set to expire on Wednesday night, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hammered out a deal with Jewish Home party leader Naftali Bennett, allowing him to inform President Reuven Rivlin that he had successfully cobbled together a 61-seat coalition - the narrowest of Knesset majorities.

Netanyahu sent Rivlin a letter confirming that his Likud party had clinched a coalition late Wednesday night, after making the announcement. He now has until next Wednesday to swear in his new cabinet.

"I am honored to inform you that I have been successful in forming a government, which I will request is brought before the Knesset for its approval as soon as possible," Netanyahu wrote in the letter, according to a statement from the President's Residence. The two men later spoke by phone, and Rivlin said, "I congratulate you on completing the formation of the government. I have received your letter of confirmation, and look forward to the convening of the Knesset as soon as possible, to approve the government."

2. Herzog pans new Netanyahu government as 'national failure' - Times of Israel

Opposition leader Isaac Herzog led a chorus of critics against the newly formed government on Wednesday, shortly after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the incoming 61-seat coalition, calling it a "national failure of a government."

Herzog said in a statement that Netanyahu's narrow government "lacks responsibility, stability and governance."

"[It's] a weak and narrow government, susceptible to blackmail, that will advance nothing and will quickly be replaced by a responsible and hopeful alternative," the Zionist Union leader said.

3. With new coalition, Israel has prominent place on Hispanic Evangelical agenda - Jerusalem Post

Latin gospel singer Ingrid Rosario, accompanied by a four-piece band, belts out impassioned ballads before a captive audience, hands clasped or in the air, eyes transfixed on the stage or closed in a meditative state. Is this scene from church? A Christian rock concert? Hardly. It's a prayer session at a staunchly pro-Israel event.

The Jewish state was front and center at the April 28-30 annual convention of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC)/CONEL in Houston. On the first day of the gathering, NHCLC/CONEL-the world's largest Hispanic Christian organization, representing more than 40,000 American churches and another 500,000 globally-launched an initiative called the Hispanic Israel Leadership Coalition (HILC), which will seek to galvanize the energy of the world's nearly 150 million Hispanic Evangelicals to drum up support Israel.

"NHCLC has its own initiatives, and Israel was one of their focuses, but we felt so strongly about Israel that we needed to start a specific organization for the Hispanic Evangelical in the pro-Israel movement," Pastor Mario Bramnick, president of HILC, told JNS.org. "We work with many different organizations, including AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee) and CUFI (Christians United for Israel). Both of those organizations are great, and they have their own Hispanic outreach, but this (HILC) is exclusively a Hispanic pro-Israel organization.

4. Former Shas MK: Netanyahu's Government Will be Short-Lived -Israel National News

Former Shas MK Nissim Ze'ev predicted on Wednesday that a government with 61 MKs will be short-lived.

Speaking with Arutz Sheva, Ze'ev said that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's new coalition "is a narrow government, which is real trouble, it's 61 MKs which is unstable. Even if there is an attempt to bring back Liberman, you cannot count on him. He has proven it in the past."

Ze'ev, who was ousted from the Shas party by chairman Aryeh Deri, said that Netanyahu failed in the way he conducted the coalition negotiations, explaining, "I think the Prime Minister at the beginning of the negotiations did not properly treat his natural partners and created a crisis of confidence."

5. IDF to Finally Investigate Terror Tunnel Rumors -Israel National News

The IDF has finally pledged to investigate repeated warnings that Hamas is rebuilding terror tunnels into Israel via the Gaza Belt, Channel 10 reports Wednesday - after months of media exposés and complaints from locals.

Kibbutz Nirim invited a private security company to investigate the situation after the IDF repeatedly brushed off complaints, causing a media storm.

Now, the IDF appears to have made the decision after the backlash, according to the news agency - as well as after the security agency reported that there is a "70% chance" Hamas is rebuilding the tunnels in the area, based on an examination of the affected ground.

6. Iran's allies, not atoms, preoccupy Israeli generals -YNET News

While Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thunders against a looming Iranian nuclear deal, his defense chiefs see a more pressing menace from Tehran's guerrilla allies.

Chief among these is Hezbollah, the Lebanese militia that fought Israeli forces to a stand-still in their 2006 war and has since expanded its arsenal and honed its skills helping Damascus battle the Syria insurgency.

Ram Ben-Barak, director-general of Israel's Intelligence Ministry, accused Iran on Tuesday of "seeking footholds" from Syria to Yemen to Egypt's Sinai and the Palestinian territories. But he deemed Hezbollah a foe as formidable as the conventional Arab armies that clashed with Israel in the 1967 and 1973 wars.

The Daily Brief

1. On the UK Election - Culture Watch

The general election in the UK will be held on Thursday May 7. As usual, the two main parties will be slugging it out: the Conservative Party vs the Labour Party. The Liberal Democrats have been the third main player for a while now, but newcomers could make a real move here, including UKIP (the United Kingdom Independence Party), the Greens, and the SNP (Scottish National Party). Results may be a hung parliament, as with the last election, and/or a new coalition, depending on how some of the newer, smaller parties fare. . .

The Green Party is 'open' to the idea of three-person marriages and a future Labour Government is committed to outlaw the scourge of Islamophobia by changing the law and making it an aggravated crime, according to the Party's Leader Ed Miliband.

3. Federal appeals court: NSA phone surveillance is illegal- CNN affiliate

A federal appeals court ruled Thursday that the National Security Agency's controversial collection of Americans' phone records, first revealed by Edward Snowden, is not legal under the Patriot Act.

The Second Circuit Court of Appeals held in the case, which was brought by the ACLU, that the telephone metadata collection program "exceeds the scope of what Congress has authorized." The Court did not rule on a larger Constitutional issue and sent the case back down to a lower court for further proceeding.

4. Pentagon credit cards used for gambling, escorts- Politico

A Defense Department audit has found that a number of Pentagon employees used their government credit cards to gamble and pay for "adult entertainment" - findings that are expected to lead department officials to issue stern new warnings.

The audit of "Government Travel Charge Transactions" by the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General, which is to be made public in coming weeks, found that both civilian and military employees used the credit cards at casinos and for escort services and other adult activities - in Las Vegas and Atlantic City.

6. Are religious colleges at risk if Supreme Court approves same-sex marriage? -Fox

Religious freedom advocates are flagging a mostly-missed moment from last week's Supreme Court arguments over the constitutionality of same-sex marriage, calling it a warning sign.

They point to an exchange between Justice Samuel Alito and the administration's top lawyer, Solicitor General Donald Verrilli. Alito asked if, in the event the Supreme Court holds that there is a constitutional right to same-sex marriage, would religious colleges risk losing their tax-exempt status if they continued to advocate for traditional marriage only.

Verrilli responded, "I don't deny that . . . It is going to be an issue."

The Daily Jot

The coming Islamic storm

Thanks to a "president" who wants open borders and an Attorney General who refuses to enforce border security, America has been infiltrated with deadly enemies that are now surfacing. The Islamic State (IS) attack this week in Garland, Tx, resulted in a quick death for the terrorists, but exposed a deeper issue that has many Americans worried--there is a network of terrorists within the country who are biding their time to steal, kill and destroy. There is a very distinct possibility that IS terrorists are uniting with the Muslim Brotherhood, the New Black Panthers, the Nation of Islam and other militant Islamic-based groups to foment violent civil unrest aimed at Christians and Jews and supported by the news media.

The news media, including conservative darling FOX News, has taken Pamela Geller, head of the American Freedom Defense Initiative, to task for criticism of Islam. Muslims should be a protected group, they say, and that Geller promotes hate speech. This media commentary is misguided drivel, but it is very dangerous because it emboldens the violent groups within America with Islamic foundations. What could be more hateful than the IS vowing to murder Geller and anyone who supports her because she sponsored a cartoon drawing contest? She should be commended for doing something the government refuses to do--exposing the depth and breadth of militants aimed at destroying America.

In a post entitled "A New Era," IS wrote: "The attack by the Islamic State in America is only the beginning of our efforts to establish a wiliyah in the heart of our enemy. Our aim was the khanzeer Pamela Geller and to show her that we don't care what land she hides in or what sky shields her; we will send all our Lions to achieve her slaughter...We have 71 trained soldiers in 15 different states ready at our word to attack any target we desire. Out of the 71 trained soldiers 23 have signed up for missions like Sunday, We are increasing in number bithnillah. Of the 15 states, 5 we will name... Virginia, Maryland, Illinois, California, and Michigan." Islam, a real peaceful religion, right? No hate there.

Certainly, the current administration carries implicit blame for allowing all things Muslim to permeate this country. Islam is antithetical to a free society and has nothing in common with the American Republic. Moreover, the news media is so liberal that it is willfully blinded to its own nonsense, yet it influences millions of unsuspecting low information citizens. Persecution and unrest is likely to follow such as we have never seen in this country. Our collective disobedience to the Lord in electing such leadership and allowing such immorality to anchor in our society has consequences. As in Jeremiah 52:14, "The LORD of hosts hath sworn by himself, saying, Surely I will fill thee with men, as with locusts; and they shall lift up a battle cry against thee." I pray it isn't so. But we must prepare ourselves for the storm ahead. Know the Word, pray, act.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Coalition is Formed in Israel!

With less than 2 hours to spare, Netanyahu secures a coalition

PM informs president he's clinched a 61-seat government after 11th-hour talks with Jewish Home leader Naftali Bennett, expresses hope for an expanded coalition by next week

In a meeting with Bennett in the Knesset Wednesday night, Netanyahu thanked the Jewish Home party leader for his "efforts during the negotiations and throughout these last weeks." He also asserted that Israel would have a "strong, stable government," which he hoped would exceed 61 seats by Wednesday.

"'61 seats is a good number. 61-plus is a better number. But it starts with 61, and we will begin with that," Netanyahu said. "We have a lot of work ahead of us. Good luck to us and to the Israeli nation."

"We support you," Bennett told Netanyahu. "We will assist you with all of our strength for the sake of the country and the government, because we have no other land. This government can complete its term in office. We will work hard to make sure of that." Bennett said that the two parties' negotiating teams would "work all night" in order to finalize the fine points of the deal.

- Father God, we are so blessed to read this news today out of Israel. THANK YOU, GOD, for working to cause the leaders in these different political parties inside the Knesset to "cobble together" this coalition agreement under the leadership of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Lord God, we continue to lift up the two negotiating parties, as they work out the final details of their agreement. Thank you, thank you, thank you, LORD, in Jesus/Yeshua's name, amen and amen!
- (For Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu) "For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus." (Phil. 1:6)

"The LORD will vindicate me; your love, LORD, endures forever-- do not abandon the works of your hands." (Psalm 138:8)

ISIS is here

ISIS is here

There were more threats in last night's message from ISIS. Consider this excerpt:

"We have 71 trained soldiers in 15 different states ready at our word to attack any target we desire. . . . 23 have signed up for missions like Sunday . . . Of the 15 states, 5 we will name -- Virginia, Maryland, Illinois, California, and Michigan. . . . The next six months will be interesting."
A headline on the front page of today's Washington Post tries to reassure us that there are "No Signs Islamic State Led Texas Plot." Other reports clearly indicate that the Texas gunmen were in contact with ISIS fighters in Syria.

To paraphrase Hillary Clinton, what difference does it make whether they are card-carrying members of ISIS, Al Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah or Islamic Jihad? Whatever group they belong to, they are all motivated to kill by the same thing: Radical Islam. And they are here. (Gary Bauer)

Article #2 today from Gary Bauer:
"I Am Pamela"

Supporters of the Islamic State posted an ominous warning last night vowing to kill Pamela Geller.

"Our aim was the [swine] Pamela Geller and to show her that we don't care what land she hides in or what sky shields her; we will send all our Lions to achieve her slaughter. . . . everyone who houses her events, gives her a platform to spill her filth are legitimate targets," the threat reads.

Many on the left, who are quick to defend flag burning as a form of "free speech," have condemned Geller for her free speech. Sadly, some on the right, even in conservative media, have criticized her. They are wrong.

No American who chooses to exercise their First Amendment right should be blamed for violence that is done by someone else who is intolerant. Extortion is a crime. We do not give in to mob violence or terrorism.

Censoring ourselves because we fear Islamic violence is a slippery slope. In countries like France and England, Jews have been told that they can go anywhere they want. But they have been strongly discouraged from wearing anything that identifies them as Jews because it might enrage Muslims. By this flawed logic if Jews are attacked it must be their fault. No! The only person responsible is the assailant.

By the way, how did the Coptic Christians who were beheaded by ISIS offend Muslims? What did the Boston Marathon runners do that offended the Tsarnaev brothers? How about the Israeli worshippers hacked to death at a synagogue in Jerusalem?

What happened to the courage of all those marching in the streets of Paris after the Charlie Hebdo attacks? Remember the chant, "Je suis Charlie"? (I am Charlie!) Perhaps we need a new campaign: "I am Pamela!"

In Texas: FBI Watched Jihadist Last Week

UTT EXCLUSIVE:

TEXAS JIHADI ELTON SIMPSON SURVEILLED BY FBI LAST WEEK

(Source: Understanding the Threat)

Two law enforcement sources from two different agencies disclosed to UTT that jihadi Elton Simpson - who was killed when he and fellow jihadi Nadir Soofi attempted to storm the American Freedom Defense Initiative event in Garland, Texas Sunday - was under FBI surveillance as recently as last week.

UTT (Understanding the Threat) contacted FBI Phoenix which denied the FBI surveilled Simpson recently.

However, both sources are actively involved in the investigation and confirmed Simpson was under regular but not constant physical surveillance before driving to Garland, Texas with Nadir Soofi.

Additionally, both Simpson and Soofi attended the Islamic Community Center of Phoenix (ICCP) for years, which has been identified by UTT as a Muslim Brotherhood jihadi center.

See this article for more details on the ICCP.

The Thin Blue Line

The Thin Blue Line

A police officer I used to work with was shot and killed on Tuesday. I remember his smile, his jovial attitude, and on occasion he'd crack a joke when he came into my office. He was a kind-hearted soul, a credit to his uniform.

As I wrote up the story of the shooting, I ran across a picture taken by KREM reporter Sten Walstrom. It was a twitter photo of a Coeur d'Alene fireman spraying the pavement with a chemical, probably to remove blood. It hit me hard. A sad moment, the testimony of a solid, good life reduced to a pool of blood on the pavement.

The Thin Blue Line

Police officers stand a short distance between us and the criminals of this nation. The distance is often a very thin blue line.

The Wilbur Avenue neighborhood where Sgt Moore was killed is filled with homes. People going about their daily business, never dreaming they might have been one heartbeat away from death.

One officer's life - one split second of danger that forever changed his friends and family- and perhaps the neighborhood where he died- and most definitely the life of the shooter, who now faces a murder charge in addition to the others.

One Second to Eternity

That Thin Blue Line is the line between life and death, between here and eternity. It is the moment when a police officer takes an undeserved bullet from a criminal who could case less about anyone but himself. Policemen know the risks. Spouses know the risks. And yet the shock of losing loved ones is always worse than we can fathom.

In a few weeks, most will forget. They will once again go about their daily routines, not mindful of the men and women who stand between them and the bad guys.

My advice to all of you - keep an eye out for our law enforcement officers. Honor them, respect them, support them. The more society wants to condemn them- or kill them- the more tense and nervous they will become. If we want to keep any semblance of home town police officers in America we must honor and recognize that Thin Blue Line.

Our Grandmothers' Songs

Songs Our Grandmothers Sang:

I AM PRAYING FOR YOU

"You help us by your prayers." (2 Corinthians 1:11)

Lyrics:

I have a Savior, He's pleading in glory,
A dear loving Savior, though earth-friends be few;
And now He is watching in tenderness o'er me,
But oh, that my Savior were your Savior too!

Refrain:

For you I am praying,
For you I am praying,
For you I am praying,
I'm praying for you.

I have a Father: to me He has given
A hope for eternity, blessed and true;
He'll call me one day to the kingdom of heaven,
But oh, that He'd let me bring you with me too!

Refrain

I have a peace: it is calm as a river,
A peace that the friends of this world never knew;
My Savior alone is its Author and Giver,
And oh, could I know it was given to you!

About the Hymn:

This hymn was once heard by an unbeliever who thought that a person's only need is to be good. One day she was invited to a prayer meeting and heard this wonderful hymn. Since then she opened her heart to the Lord and became one of the co-workers of Watchman Nee. She is Ruth Lee who was a great help to the Lord's work in China.

There may be some people like her that are waiting for our prayer in order to be saved. Keep on praying for the salvation of others. God bless.
