A Rainbow over the Supreme Court

This photo of the front of the Supreme Court was taken the night before the hearings on gay marriage: Monday, April 27, at sunset. Please remain with us in prayer over the pending decision on traditional marriage until the verdict has been rendered.

" . . . from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. . . What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder." (Mark 10: 6,9)

Thank You, Lord, for watching over this Court. In Jesus' name, amen.

The Middle East in Focus

"Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the LORD, who has compassion on you." (Isaiah 54:10)

1. PRAY FOR A STABLE GOVERNMENT TO COME INTO PLACE THIS WEEK. - Barry & Batya Segal

Wednesday at 8 p.m. is the deadline for Benyamin Netanyahu to present a coalition representing at least 61 seats to President Reuven Rivlin. If he is unable to do so, the President must choose either another member of the Knesset whom he considers capable of forming a coalition (probably Labour head Isaac Herzog)-or initiate yet another election. As of this writing, there are still two of the smaller parties which are balking at joining unless certain demands are met. If the demands are not resolved, Mr. Netanyahu might still squeak through with a coalition-but it would be an extremely narrow (and therefore very week) one-capable of collapse at any serious dispute along the way.

We believe it to be of critical importance that the Israeli government currently being formed be comprised of a stable coalition, one able of facing the grave challenges soon likely to arrive in a spirit of co-operation. Although always desirable, this has not always been God's priority - as was the case in the last government, when the Lord allowed two strongly incongruous parties to rise and form a temporary unity in order to avert a greater immediate evil. We believe that on this occasion it is of paramount importance to pray for this unity-even at the expense of certain commendable advances made in the last government.

PLEASE PRAY: That the One who "watches over Israel" (Psalm 91) will intervene, show negotiators the way, turn hearts which need to be turned, and bring into a being a Government which can work together in crisis. Pray supernatural wisdom over Benyamin Netanyahu - that God will grant him counsel and guide his judgment in the next two days.

2. Lieberman steps down as foreign minister - will not enter the next government - Jerusalem Online

Avigdor Lieberman, chairman of the right-wing party, Yisrael Beiteinu, announced at a press conference this afternoon (Sunday) that his party will not be part of the next government. Whilst doing so he is also stepping down from his post as Israel's foreign minister. Lieberman announced that soon after the faction meeting he would submit his resignation.

The surprising announcement came just two days before Netanyahu's deadline, according to the Israeli law, to present the new government, which he had hoped would consist of a majority of 67.

3. Netanyahu, Deri sign coalition deal - Jerusalem Online

A coalition deal was signed Monday evening between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Shas chairman Aryeh Deri. Likud officials called upon Bayit Hayehudi chairman Naftali Bennett to join the government as well.

"It is now Bennett's responsibility to ensure the establishment of a national government," Likud officials said, and added Netanyahu had given him "an unprecedented offer", including the Education Ministry and the Diaspora Affairs Ministry. "If he turns it down, the only alternative will be a left-wing government led by Herzog, which will evacuate settlements and harm the religious Zionist movement."

4. Jewish Home Outraged Over Coalition Agreement with Shas - Israel National News

Members of the Jewish Home party gathered on Monday night for an emergency faction meeting in the Knesset, following the announcement of the coalition agreement between Likud and Shas.

Officials in the party said that Jewish Home is outraged over the fact that Shas was given the Religious Affairs Ministry as well as control of the rabbinical courts.

As such, said the officials, Jewish Home chairman Naftali Bennett would demand that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu give the party another senior ministerial portfolio such as Defense, Foreign Affairs or Justice, to "compensate" for taking the Ministry of Religious Affairs from the Religious Zionists.

Earlier Monday, shortly after announcing the deal with Shas, Likud both made an offer and a threat to Jewish Home.

5. Report: Jewish Home to Demand Foreign Ministry - Israel National News

Hours before a tight deadline to form a government, Jewish Home has stopped coalition talks to reassess, NRG reports Monday - and may demand more portfolios to force Likud's hand.

The Foreign Ministry was one of Jewish Home's most prominent demands before talks began, but was dropped after Yisrael Beytenu chairman and current Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman pledged to remain in his post as part of a right-wing government.

Now, after Liberman backed out of the talks altogether for idealistic or political reasons, Jewish Home chairman Naftali Bennett may demand the portfolio once again, sources told the news outlet.

6. Netanyahu calls to 'eradicate' racism in meeting with Ethiopian soldier beat up by cop - YNET News

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday called to "eradicate" racism following the violent demonstrations that have shaken Ethiopian community in Israel.

"We must be united against the phenomenon of racism, denounce and eradicate it," said Netanyahu, after a three-hour meeting with representatives of the Ethiopian community, including IDF soldier Damas Pakada, who was attacked by a policeman.

"I was outraged by the images I saw. We can't accept this and the police is handling this. We'll have to change things," Netanyahu told Pakada.

7. Jewish Bookstore the Target in Thwarted Spanish Attack - Israel National News

A month after a terror cell planning anti-Semitic attacks was busted in Catalonia, new details published Sunday in The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) show just how gruesome those attacks could have been.

The 11 suspects, believed to have links to terror organization Islamic State, were arrested at the time on charges of planning possible kidnappings, an execution and attacks on Jewish shops as well as other public buildings in Spain.

Ten of the suspects, police said, belonged to the Islamic Brotherhood for Preaching Jihad, a group in Spain suspected of recruiting members for ISIS in Syria, particularly from among converts to Islam.

According to court documents, WSJ reported, the gang was developing plans specifically to bomb a Jewish bookstore, as well as "snatch and behead a captive."

1. Two Chinese Naval Ships Enter Black Sea Heading to Novorossiysk - Sputnik News

The purpose of entry of the ships into the Black Sea waters is still unknown, as there are no reports of previous visits of the Chinese ships. China's 19th naval escort task force consisting of a Type 903 replenishment ship and two Type 054A guided-missile frigates entered the Black Sea through the Bosporus on May 4.

- Father, we pray You make the purpose known of these two Chinese Naval Ships entering the Black Sea.

- The LORD works out everything to its proper end-(Proverbs 16:4)

2. Indigenous Christian Missionary Workers in Nepal are in a Unique Position to Aid Earthquake Victims - Breaking Christian News

The earthquake in Nepal on Saturday (April 25) is an ongoing disaster of intense and widespread magnitude that has hit millions of people with long-lasting effects.

While many organizations are rushing aid to the Himalayan republic, Christian Aid Mission's South Asia director said the primary challenge is not gathering food and tents to send to Nepal. "During these kinds of disasters, gathering up enough aid is one challenge, and getting it to the people is another," said the director, Sarla, who is traveling to her native country this week to encourage ministry leaders and assess damages. "In some of these areas, access is only on foot."

The indigenous ministries in Nepal that Christian Aid Mission assists are well-positioned to distribute aid to survivors of the 7.8-strong earthquake that took the lives of 5,500 people and injured at least 10,000 others. With rains and landslides cutting off road access to many areas, local Christian workers know how to get aid to people deprived of their homes and to come alongside the shell-shocked survivors in their trauma, she said. The ministries that Christian Aid assists can cheaply purchase food, water, and tents from local sources, she added.

- Heavenly Father, we continue to bring before Your throne this horrific and devastating set of earthquakes, aftershocks and arrival of monsoon season in the nation of Nepal, with all the deaths, injuries and destruction to things needed for people to live and survive. We pray that Your remnant located there will be given the means to do what they appear to be qualified to do based upon this being their country as well. Help them, Father, we pray, to be able to handle the long term needed responses required by the extreme devastation and in so doing bring many to You for full redemption. We pray this in the Name of Jesus and under His Shed Blood, Amen and Amen.

-Do not forsake me, O Lord; O my God, be not far from me! Make haste to help me, O Lord, my salvation!" (Psalm 38:21-22 NKJV)

3. Revisions to Patriot Act backed by both parties - UPI

A bill that would curb the federal government's sweeps of phone and Internet records and overhaul the Patriot Act is gaining traction in the House and Senate, underscoring the shift from the focus on national security at the expense of civil liberties to strike a new balance.

On Thursday, the House Judiciary Committee passed a bill that would curtail the bulk collection of America's phone records, exposed by Edward Snowden, and is headed to almost certain passage in the House.

- Heavenly Father, may these bills by both the House and the Senate to curb and overhaul the Patriot Act where the federal government collects all phone and internet records at the expense of civil liberties of US citizens be passed so that phone companies store the data, not federal intelligence agencies. May a balanced review and justification be determined before this data is shared with any of the intelligence agencies. We pray this in the Name of Jesus, Amen and Amen.

-"He who walks with integrity walks securely, but he who perverts his ways will become known." (Proverbs 10:9 NKJV)

4. George Soros reportedly could face up to $7B tax bill, after delaying payment for years - Fox News

George Soros may soon face a monumental tax bill -- of nearly $7 billion -- after years of playing hard-to-get with the IRS.

Despite Soros having advocated for higher taxes on the wealthy, the liberal billionaire reportedly has delayed paying his own for years thanks to a loophole in U.S. law.

That loophole was closed by Congress in 2008. But before that, Bloomberg reports, Soros used it to defer taxes on client fees. Instead, he reinvested them in his own fund, and they grew tax-free.

Bloomberg, citing Irish regulatory filings, reported that Soros has made $13.3 billion in this way. Factoring in the various tax rates that would apply, one tax expert estimated this would leave Soros with a roughly $6.7 billion bill.

While Soros did not comment on the estimate, Bloomberg reported that Soros deferred his taxes for so many years by reinvesting client fees. While he technically was able to do this for U.S.-based funds, offshore funds were apparently preferred because otherwise clients would face negative tax implications. Congress closed that loophole in 2008, ordering According to Bloomberg, Soros moved assets shortly before the change to Ireland, seen as a possible shelter from the law. But tax attorneys told Bloomberg they don't know of a way for money managers to avoid the bill in 2017.

- Heavenly Father, we bring before You this man, George Soros, who pushes for higher taxes to be imposed on the wealthy and who funds so many groups to push his special agendas and preferences that often damages the rights of others, to ask that somehow there be a 'balance adjustment' where he 'reaps' what he so easily 'sows' out to others. We ask that he will be required to pay in the back taxes he has avoided for a number of years. We do pray that this man may be brought to redemption in You if he will come, but we would like to see 'justice' served based upon this article. We pray this in the Name of Jesus, Amen and Amen.

-"Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness delivers from death." (Proverbs 10:2 NKJV)

5. Texas Prophet cartoon attack: Gunman was previous terror suspect - BBC

One of two gunmen shot dead at an event in Texas exhibiting cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad had been a terror suspect, court documents show. Elton Simpson had been under surveillance since 2006 and was convicted in 2010 for lying about plans to go to Somalia, the files reveal. He had shared a flat in Arizona with the person named by authorities as the other gunman, Nadir Soofi.

- Father, protect our communities all around the United States from "sleeper" cells wishing to do Americans harm. Cause all their plans to fail. In Jesus name.

- He thwarts the plans of the crafty, so that their hands achieve no success. (Job 5:12)

6. Peak of Eta Aquarid Meteor Shower to illuminate Southeast skies Wednesday morning - Eturbo News

Islamic attack in Texas will impact free speech

It's already happening. People are blaming the American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI) for baiting the Islamic State (IS) terrorists into the Garland, Tx attack by the AFDI using cartoons of Mohammad and posting billboards and ads condemning Islam. The Southern Poverty Law Center, a leftist "civil rights" advocacy organization, designates AFDI as a hate group, although Southern Poverty Law Center spreads its own brand of hate against Christians and conservatives. Even the LA Times, supposed guardian of free speech, has written: "The Garland attack refocused public attention on the fine line between free speech and hate speech in the ideological struggle between radical Islam and the West."

There is no fine line between free speech and hate speech where Islam is concerned. The West is where guaranteed free speech was invented. Telling the truth about a vicious and brutal death cult is not hate speech. Let's get real here. Every year, the US State Department releases a report on human rights practices. And every year, Islamic nations are an overwhelming majority when it comes to practicing human trafficking and violating human rights. Sex trade, slave trade, drug trade, and crime are hallmarks of Islam. The rights of women and children are trampled. There is no freedom of speech or of religion. This is documented and one doesn't have to look far to find it. And that's the easy stuff.

Where around the world can you find systematic and brutal murdering of anyone who disagrees with a religion, other than Islam? Where? Islam's holy book, the Koran, instructs its disciples to kill infidels, namely Christians and Jews. Anyone who refuses to submit to Islam is to be killed, according to the Koran. There is no better representative of this theology than the self-proclaimed Caliphate, Islamic State. The IS is marauding across the Middle East burning alive, crucifying, burying alive, and beheading anyone and everyone who disagrees with them, including women and children. Telling the atrocities of Islam is not hate speech, it is the truth. It's no fine line, it's a wide one drawn in blood with the pen of atrocity.

You cannot appease the bloodthirsty and expect peace. Speaking of the peril of false teaching and sin, Jeremiah 8:11 says "For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying Peace, peace; when there is no peace." Verse 15 says, "We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of health, and behold terror!" The tolerance and appeasement of evil will lead to destruction. Christians must stand strong and not allow evil Islam and its minions to make truth as hate speech. The tweets from Islamists in the Garland incident that drove those two terrorist wannabes to their death was the real hate speech. Free speech is the hedge that stands between Islam and carnage. Americans would do well to recognize this and vehemently resist the appeasers who would sacrifice truth for a false peace.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Today's NDR Prayer Points

Suggested Repentance Prayer Points:

Tuesday, May 5

Individual repentance

Lord I repent of my lukewarmness, my lethargy in picking up my cross to follow You. Forgive me for failing often to seek Your Godly plan for my life. Forgive me for being a coward. Forgive me for holding on to my sin patterns, my hurts, my vows inconsistent with who You are, my strongholds, instead of being zealous to follow You.

National repentance

Lord I repent that we believers in You in the USA in Your church have been complacent about the state of Your church and our nation. Many shepherds have hidden in fear from the public instead of being bold for Christ. Half of those calling themselves Christians don't even vote, let alone run for public office. Forgive us for not depending upon You, Lord, and publicly announcing your Goodness. When there have been disasters, key signs from You to return to You, forgive us for our pride, our arrogance to support the rebuilding when there has been no reflection, no repentance, no refocusing on You. (2 Chronicles 7:13-15; Isaiah 9: 10-11).

Our Grandmothers' Songs

Songs Our Grandmothers Sang:

RESCUE THE PERISHING

"Snatch others from the fire and save them." (Jude 1:23)

Lyrics:

Rescue the perishing, care for the dying,
Snatch them in pity from sin and the grave;
Weep o'er the erring one, lift up the fallen,
Tell them of Jesus, the mighty to save.

Refrain

Rescue the perishing, care for the dying,
Jesus is merciful, Jesus will save.

Though they are slighting Him, still He is waiting,
Waiting the penitent child to receive;
Plead with them earnestly, plead with them gently;
He will forgive if they only believe.

Refrain

Down in the human heart, crushed by the tempter,
Feelings lie buried that grace can restore;
Touched by a loving heart, wakened by kindness,
Chords that were broken will vibrate once more.

Refrain

Rescue the perishing, duty demands it;
Strength for thy labor the Lord will provide;
Back to the narrow way patiently win them;
Tell the poor wand'rer a Savior has died.

Refrain

About the Hymn:

As I was addressing a large company of working men one hot August evening, the thought kept forcing itself upon my mind that some mother's boy must be rescued that very night or perhaps not at all. So I requested that, if there was any boy present, who had wandered away from mother's teaching, he would come to the platform at the conclusion of the service. A young man of eighteen came forward and said, "Did you mean me? I have promised my mother to meet her in heaven; but as I am now living that will be impossible." We prayed for him; he finally arose with a new light in his eyes; and exclaimed triumphantly, "Now, I can meet mother in heaven; for I have found her God." A few days before, Mr. Doane had sent me the subject "Rescue the Perishing," and while I sat there that evening the line came to me, "Rescue the perishing, care for the dying." I could think of nothing else that night. When I arrived it my home I went to work on it at once; and before I retired the entire hymn was ready for a melody. The next day my words were written and forwarded to Mr. Doane, who wrote the beautiful and touching music as it now stands. (Fanny Crosby) Read the rest of this story here . . .
