Paul vows to return to Capitol Hill on Sunday to block bill, end NSA spying

Kentucky GOP Sen. Rand Paul says he'll try to block last-ditch efforts Sunday to renew National Security Agency and other anti-terrorist and surveillance programs.

"I will force the expiration of the NSA illegal spy program," Paul, also a 2016 presidential candidate, said Saturday. "I am ready and willing to start the debate on how we fight terrorism without giving up our liberty."

The Libertarian-minded Paul led a filibuster-like effort over the Memorial Day weekend that helped block legislation to extend federal surveillance efforts but suggested upon leaving the Senate chambers that he might reconsider.

"It depends," he said. "Sometimes things change as deadlines approach."

Barring a last-minute deal in Congress, three post-Sept. 11 surveillance laws used against spies and terrorists will expire when Sunday turns into Monday.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has called back the upper chamber for a rare Sunday session to decide on whether to accept a House-passed bill that extends the programs. Congress would then send the measure to President Obama to sign before midnight.
The House's USA Freedom Act passed overwhelmingly in the Republican-controlled chamber but fell three votes short of the 60 needed to proceed in the Senate. And efforts in the upper chamber to extend the current law also have failed.

Much of the debate has focuses on the National Security Agency's collection of Americans' telephone calling records, authorized under one of the expiring provisions, Section 215 of the Patriot Act.

Independent evaluations have cast doubt on that program's importance, and even law enforcement officials say in private that losing this ability would not carry severe consequences.

Yet the fight over those records has jeopardized other surveillance programs that have broad, bipartisan support and could fall victim to congressional gridlock. . . (Read more)

SPYING, SENATE, SUNDAY-PLEASE PRAY!

From Lamplighter Ministries:

SPYING, SENATE, SUNDAY-PLEASE PRAY!

Patriot Act-Deadline Looms

Key aspects of the Patriot Act are set to expire Monday, and the US Senate is reconvening for a rare Sunday session that promises raucous debate on preserving American liberty in the face of government surveillance deemed necessary to counter terrorism. And friends, we need to pray.

President Obama supports a bill backed by the House that ends the NSA's bulk collection of phone records, but retains their right to search records held by phone companies on a "case by case basis." According to Fox News, the USA Freedom Act "was supported by President Obama and the nation's top law enforcement and intelligence officials."

But the bill went nowhere in the Senate, and Sen. Mitch McConnell's pitch to extend the surveillance provisions for a few extra months to give some breathing room has failed as well. With no agreement, the Patriot Act's provision for NSA surveillance is set to expire on Monday.

Interestingly, two Kentucky senators are leading each side of the debate. Presidential contender Rand Paul seeks to stop warrantless surveillance against American citizens, while Majority leader Mitch McConnell is pushing Senate colleagues to approve a revised Patriot Act, which he deems still necessary for the protection of our homeland while affording greater protection for civil liberties.

Biblical Perspective

When David stood up to number Israel, the Lord identified this most basic form of government surveillance as being pushed by Satan himself (1 Chronicles 21:1-4). Further, the Book of Revelation clearly warns of a coming time when citizens of the world will be forced to receive "the mark of the beast" even to buy and sell.

"And he causes all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free men and the slaves, to be given a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, and he provides that no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of his name" (Rev. 13:16-17).

Take a moment to ponder this. Some 2,000 years ago the Apostle John, Jesus' best friend on earth, is propelled into a revelatory vision while in forced exile on a remote island off the coast of Turkey. He sees a future dictatorial government, tied to Satan, subjugating the earth by employing tracking devices that allow his government to record and evaluate every transaction each individual makes.

In case you're wondering if the Bible is accurate through the ages . . . only in our generation has this technology even begun to become available! And yet the Book of Revelation clearly prophesies that a modern-day Pharaoh will merge technological capacities with government surveillance to bring the world into subjugation to himself.

Yikes! That makes Sunday's debate pretty relevant for prayer.

Because if America is to remain a beacon of freedom as the end-times progresses, then retaining the freedom of individuals and right to privacy afforded by the Constitution is perhaps the core issue of the hour. Especially in light of current technological advancements.

Revise-Plan Ahead

From my limited understanding, President Obama and intelligence leaders have come out on the right side of this debate. Revising provisions of the Patriot Act, such as limiting access of phone records to a "case by case basis," seems wise. Relying on private phone companies for data storage also seems wise. Preventing government surveillance from impinging on our right to privacy is an absolutely relevant issue. And nothing can more effectively persuade Americans to compromise this right than a crisis in homeland security.

Critics will point out that the same President who seeks to limit government surveillance has by his policies-especially on open borders and illegal immigration-exacerbated the need. But it was actually President Bush who instituted the Patriot Act, affording the NSA extraordinary powers of surveillance over "we the people" following the terrorist strikes of 9-11.

Prophetically, my strongest admonition is that we institute now checks and balances to ensure our Constitutional freedoms remain protected and perpetuated through the inevitable terrorist strikes of the future. Because that is when Americans will be most vulnerable to yield our freedoms again. And if we yield our remaining freedoms, there will remain little that separates us from dictatorships.

Freedom to Worship is Threatened!

As a final thought, let me suggest our greatest threat imposed by government surveillance is not our right to privacy. It is actually our freedom to worship, apart from the imposition of government! That is the core issue identified by the Apostle John as motivating the Pharaoh-like dictator known as "the beast" to employ the full potential of government surveillance against his citizens.

Further, freedom to worship is this core issue our forefathers, Pilgrims and Patriots, gave their lives to secure for all Americans. And it is at least as threatened now as our right to privacy. America's greatness is not secured by our capacity to protect and defend freedom alone, but by God's grace secured by their covenantal dedication and perpetuated in our watch.

Lose freedom to worship, and we lose American liberty.

Time to Pray

Time to Pray . . .

- Lord God, we know that, whenever the Senate goes into session on a Sunday, something is up. Abba Father, we do not know all the details related to this bill, but we do know that You, Holy One, see it all. And Lord God, we do not know Your perfect will for this legislation, but again, You do have a plan in mind.

Abba, we simply ask tonight that the 100 members of the U.S. Senate would seek Your face in finalizing a bill that will limit the ability of the NSA and other agencies to freely spy on all of our communications, yet still be able to protect us from those who mean us harm. As they turn to You, we trust that they will reach a consensus on this critical matter, and we would yet have peace in our land. Thank You, Father God, God of wisdom we pray in Jesus' name, amen and amen.
- "If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him." (James 1:5 AMP)

- "I [the Lord] will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you." (Psalm 32:8)

While it is difficult to verify the claims in the article, it contained a rare discussion of the tunnels by Hezbollah members. (Read more)

2. Top Israeli Islamist: Arab-Jewish War Inside Israel 'Inevitable' - Israel National News

A full-blown war between Israeli Arabs and the Netanyahu government is "just a matter of time," says Kamal Al-Khatib, deputy head of the radical Islamic Movement in Israel. In an interview with Hamas media, Al-Khatib said that the policies espoused by the new government of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu leave Israeli Arabs "no choice" but to undertake a violent struggle.

According to Al-Khatib, the pronouncements by Netanyahu's ministers - such as the statement last week by new Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely that the Land of Israel belongs to the Jewish people - were simply reflective of the feelings of most Israelis. Such statements, he said "merely highlight the religious nature of the dispute," as opposed to the proclamations by Israeli leaders that the dispute is "political," and that in the end, Jews and Muslims would end up in a conflict over the Land. 3. Nasrallah: ISIS 'As Great' An Enemy As Israel - Israel National News

As ISIS consolidates its control of Palmyra, its latest prize, and extends its control to capture as much as half of Syria, Hezbollah is growing increasingly concerned - to the point that the terror group's chief Hassan Nasrallah over the weekend proclaimed the Sunni terror organization "as great an enemy as Israel."

The rulers of the the Islamic State, Nasarallah said in a speech ahead of Monday's anniversary of the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Lebanon in 2000., "are murderers and rapists, and destroy everything in their path. They kill hundreds of people at a time, as they just did in Tadmor (Palmyra), Their terror is unprecedented. This is a danger to everyone. No one should bury their heads in the sand. We invite everyone in Lebanon and the region to take responsibility and confront this danger and end their silence and hesitation and neutrality.

ISIS, in fact, is as "evil" as the Israelis, said Nasrallah, but the "forces of good" will be able to win the battle against ISIS, as they have against Israel, he said. "The nations of the region have already beat Israel and the United States. ISIS is not stronger than they are." (Read more)

Hamas forces carried out a brutal campaign of abductions, torture, and unlawful killings against Palestinians accused of "collaborating" with Israel and others during Operation Protective Edge last year, according to a report published on Wednesday by Amnesty International.

The report reveals that Hamas carried out at least 23 extrajudicial executions during the war. Some of the executions were documented at the time by Palestinian journalists and photographers, prompting Hamas to halt the public killings.

Entitled "Strangling Necks: Abduction, torture and summary killings of Palestinians by Hamas forces during the 2014 Gaza/Israel conflict," the Amnesty International report accuses Hamas of killing members and supporters of Fatah.

8. Netanyahu to divide Foreign Ministry powers between 6 ministers - Israel National News

The new government may have been sworn in 11 days ago but Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is continuing to hand out ministerial positions, or more precisely parts of ministerial position, in order to expand his coalition. In the Foreign Ministry, authorities will now be split up between six people. MK Ze'ev Elkin will be in charge of the Jerusalem portfolio, as well as relations with the Jewish community from the former Soviet Union, as compensation for handing over the Ministry of Strategic Affairs to MK Gilad Erdan. MK Silvan Shalom will be in charge of relations with the US, as well as negotiations with the Palestinians if they are to be renewed, and MK Yuval Steinitz will be awarded treatment of the Iranian nuclear issue until June, after which the issue will be handed over to MK Gilad Erdan.

The Foreign Ministry's Workers' Committee is furious at this splitting up of authority and claims that it "could create an impossible reality in terms of the State of Israel's ability to deal with the challenges on the diplomatic front."

2. Texas floods: Clean-up, search for bodies continue - CNN

At least 32 people -- 13 in northern Mexico, 13 in Texas plus six in Oklahoma -- have died in the severe weather, from tornadoes, to flooding, to raging rivers. Another 13 people are missing, two of them an elderly couple lost after their rescue boat in Houston capsized. The rest are in Hays County, where 400-odd homes got destroyed when the Blanco River swelled many times over in a few hours.

"It's just very heartbreaking, that we have this loss of life," said Kristi Wyatt, a spokeswoman for the Hays County seat in San Marcos. "Some of those people were in a home together, celebrating the holidays, and they were swept away in the stormwater. ... It's just a terrible situation." (Read more)

3. BLOCKED AGAIN: Court refuses to lift hold on Obama immigration exec action - Fox News

A federal appeals court refused Tuesday to allow the implementation, for now, of President Obama's executive action that could shield from deportation as many as 5 million illegal immigrants. The U.S. Justice Department had asked the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to reverse U.S. District Judge Andrew Hanen's earlier decision temporarily halting the administration's plan. Hanen issued the temporary hold in February, after 26 states filed a lawsuit alleging Obama's action was unconstitutional.

Two out of the three judges on a court panel, though, voted Tuesday to deny the government's request, as the underlying case is argued. The majority opinion reasoned that lifting the temporary hold -- known in judicial parlance as issuing a "stay" -- could cause serious problems for states should they ultimately win their challenge. It said the states have shown that "issuance of the stay will substantially injure" them. (Read more) http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2015/05/26/appeals-court-refuses-to-lift-hold-on-obama-immigration-action/?intcmp=latestnews

- Lord God, we give You praise that this executive action has once again been struck down in our judicial system - this time by a federal appellate court. We are grateful that there are yet those in positions of authority who will uphold the rule of law in our nation, and not fear to rein in a president when needed. Thank You, Lord, in Jesus' name, amen and amen.

4. Senate blocks House bill on NSA surveillance, 2-month extension - Fox News

The Republican-led Senate blocked a House-passed bill and several short-term extensions of the USA Patriot Act early Saturday.

The big stumbling block was a House-passed measure to end the National Security Agency's bulk collection of domestic phone records. Instead, the records would remain with telephone companies subject to a case-by-case review.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell favored retaining the program, but fellow Kentuckian and Republican presidential contender Rand Paul blocked any extension no matter how brief past the midnight May 31 expiration. "This week, I stood on the floor for roughly 11 hours in defense of the Fourth Amendment and successfully blocked the renewal of the Patriot Act," Paul said in a statement. "We should never give up our rights for a false sense of security. This is only the beginning-- the first step of many.  I will continue to do all I can until this illegal government spying program is put to an end, once and for all." (Read more)

- Abba Father, You know all things. You are our provider and  our protector. We ask that You would give wisdom, knowledge and discernment to our Congress and that they would come into agreement on the best strategy for eavesdropping  on our enemies. Lord, we ask that we not be left unprotected while the Congress comes into agreement on a constitutional spying/eavesdropping strategy. In His Name we pray, Amen.

- "Make your ear attentive to wisdom,
Incline your heart to understanding;
For if you cry for discernment,
Lift your voice for understanding;
If you seek her as silver
And search for her as for hidden treasures;
Then you will discern the fear of the Lord
And discover the knowledge of God." (Proverbs 2:2-5)

5. Senate Republicans Give Obama New Powers; Details Remain "Classified" - Washington Post

Obama wins trade victory in the Senate President Obama won a big victory for his trade agenda Friday with the Senate's approval of fast-track legislation that could make it easier for him to complete a wide-ranging trade deal that would include 11 Pacific Rim nations. A coalition of 48 Senate Republicans and 14 Democrats voted for Trade Promotion Authority late Friday, sending the legislation to a difficult fight in the House, where it faces more entrenched opposition from Democrats.

The Senate coalition fought off several attempts by opponents to undermine the legislation, defeating amendments that were politically popular but potentially poisonous to Obama's bid to secure the trade deal. "This is an important bill, likely the most important bill we will pass this year. It's important to President Obama," Sen. Orrin G. Hatch (R-Utah), chairman of the Senate Finance Committee and primary author of the bill, said at the close of debate.

TPA's fast-track provisions would allow Congress, under strict timelines, to consider trade deals with a simple up-or-down vote without any amendments or requirements of a Senate super-majority to end debate. That would help Obama complete the final details of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), with the other 11 nations, a bloc that represents about 40 percent of the global economy.

If TPA clears Congress, Obama's negotiators will push to conclude the Pacific trade pact and then send it to Congress for final approval, possibly later this year or early next year. The legislative package also includes new funding for labor training for workers that are certified for having lost their jobs because of foreign competition. (Read more)

- Abba Father, this Trade agreement is a disaster for the American blue collar worker as NAFTA was a disaster. Abba Father, we humbly ask that you derail this treaty. Turn the hearts and minds of the members of House of Representatives to Your agenda for the United States of America. In His Name we pray, Amen and Amen.

- "You shall make no covenant with them or with their gods." (Exodus 23:32)

6. Senate Unanimously Approves Senator Lankford's Religious Freedom Amendment to TPA - Christian Post

The U.S. Senate voted unanimously to add a religious freedom amendment to the Trade Promotion Authority legislation, which could be the first time that Congress asked presidents to take religious liberties into consideration when negotiating international trade agreements. The Senate voted 92-0 Monday evening to approve the amendment to the TPA bill that was proposed by Sen. James Lankford, R-Okla., which would make it an overall negotiating objective of the United States to "take into account" religious freedom violations before entering possible trade deals with other countries.

"It is a great encouragement to see the [Senate's] overwhelming support for religious liberty issues worldwide," the 47-year-old Lankford told The Christian Post Tuesday morning. "This is the core value, the first freedom that we talk about all the time but it is also a core value that I believe, and apparently my colleagues also believe, that when we talk to other nations and deal with nations where religious liberty is not common and we get into a trade conversation, we should bring up the issue of religious liberty. That makes them a more stronger nation, a more stable nation, they will be a better trading partner in the long term if they have a stable economy, which will come from lack of oppression and personal liberty," the freshman senator continued."(Read more)

- Abba Father, we thank You that we still have the liberty to worship You in the United States. Thank You for Religious Freedom. Thank You for Senator Lankford insisting that religious freedom be taken into consideration when negotiating trade agreements. We pray that every person have the protection of their government to live their faith. In His Name we pray, Amen.

- "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the men of old gained approval. By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible." (Hebrews 11:1-3)

7. At Coast Guard graduation, Obama warns of climate change threat to national security - Washington Post

GROTON-NEW LONDON, Conn. -- President Obama warned [last] Wednesday that climate change is a growing and "serious threat" to national security, tying severe weather to the rise of the extremist group Boko Haram in Nigeria and the civil war in Syria.

In his latest bid to turn up political pressure on Republicans over the environment, Obama challenged 218 newly commissioned officers at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy to take the threats of climate as seriously as they would a cutter in peril on the seas.

"You don't sit back; you take steps to protect your ship," Obama said. "Anything less is a dereliction of duty. The same is true for climate change." (Read more)

8. Air Force refuses call to court martial Major General Olson for National Day of Prayer Remarks - Free Dominion

The Air Force has refused to punish a general for referring to God in a speech, despite agitations from a group interested in stripping the military of religion.

On May 7, Maj. Gen. Craig Olson stated at the congressionally supported National Day of Prayer Task Force that God guided and strengthened his career, and without God's help, he wouldn't have been able to fly aircraft or execute nuclear missions, Air Force Times reports.

He further stated that he is a "redeemed believer in Christ." Such a profession was too much for the Military Religious Freedom Foundation. The group wrote a letter to Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Welsh on May 13 demanding for Olson to be court-martialed immediately due to violations of Air Force rules. According to the group, Olson's speech was "brazenly illicit" and constituted "fundamentalist Christian proselytizing," effectively amounting to an endorsement of a particular belief.

The Air Force disagrees. According to a spokesman for the service, Lt. Col. Pete Hughes, Olson did not breach Instruction 1-1 dealing with the exercise of religion.

"His remarks were his own personal opinions and do not represent the views of the United States Air Force," Hughes told Air Force Times. (Read more)

- Lord God, we lift up a great chorus of PRAISE at this news, and we thank You for hearing our prayers on behalf of Major General Craig Olson. We do continue to pray for the salvation of Mikey Weinstein, and all other members of the Freedom From Religion Foundation. Thank You, Jesus, for this wonderful answer to prayrer! In Your name, amen and amen!

China's armed forces are to extend their operations and its air force will become an offensive as well as defensive force for the first time, in a major shift in policy that will strengthen fears of accidental conflict. A policy document by the state council, or cabinet, said China faced a "grave and complex array of security threats", justifying the change.

The material in question was prepared at Dugway Proving Ground, Utah, as part of what was described as a "routine" research process. It was then sent out to Defense Department and commercial labs in nine states -- the shipments were supposed to include only inactive, or dead, anthrax when they were transferred. (Read more)

Prophetic immorality hallmark of "president's" legacy

In the coming weeks, court challenges and rulings will shine the light on the immorality of the current "president's" agenda and it will determine his legacy and the moral direction of society for years to come. What cannot be legislated through agreement and compromise, was instituted through executive order. What was challenged is left to the courts to determine. Either way, the Islamic Marxist agenda of the "president" is inching forward and will have a long-term and far reaching impact on America, the world, and the acceleration of prophecy. Fights over illegal immigration, border security, same sex marriage, socialist healthcare, and taxes to prevent the flawed science of global warming are all on the agenda.

It is difficult to imagine that the words same sex and marriage would be placed together as the law of the land. The Supreme Court will rule on this very issue which is already redefining the culture in America, the very fabric of family and the core value to the foundations of society. Courts have overturned the will of the people; media has shaped the debate; entertainment has desensitized homosexuality in the common household. The Communist Manifesto abolishing all religion and morality is taking root through this issue. Supporters of same sex marriage are vilifying Christians who believe the Word of the Lord as stated in Leviticus 18:22, "You shall not lie with a man, as with a woman: it is abomination."

Socialist healthcare and global warming are also on the agenda for the Supreme Court. They are very similar from a biblical perspective. Both are the compulsive participation in government covetousness and redistribution of wealth. Neither provide the stated relief or purpose. Affordable healthcare for all Americans is far less affordable under socialist healthcare, and it advances an agenda contrary to the Word of God through public funding of abortion and promotion of homosexuality. Global warming, now called climate change, is the taxing of citizens to stop weather behaviors. Problem is, the science, as admitted by the scientists themselves, is fabricated. The 10th Commandment is "Thou shalt not covet."

There are many interpretations of 2 Thessalonians 2:3, "Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition." While many hold fast for revival, we see in scripture after scripture that things get exceedingly worse as the Day of the Lord approaches. We are seeing first hand here in America how quickly immorality advances when ungodly leaders are chosen and the Church becomes self-indulgent rather than holding to accountability to God's Word. We should not, however, give in to this flood of darkness as we want to be found faithful when we come before the Lord. Let us not allow immorality to be our legacy.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

A Decree Against the LBGT Agenda

Hear the WORD OF THE LORD:

You are fallen from the heights, Daystar, son of the morning....you said you would exalt your throne above GOD, yet now you are brought down to Hades to the recesses of the pit. you are an evildoer never more to be named.

A slaughtering place is prepared for you because of this iniquity; that you and your offspring may not rise and possess the earth and fill the face of cities. THE GOD OF ANGEL ARMIES sweep you with the broom of destruction. THE LORD has purposed this and so shall it stand and come to pass. For the time of breaking your yoke over the SEVEN MOUNTAINS in America has come.

The hand of the LORD JESUS is stretched out against you and who can turn it back.? The LORD and HIS MIGHTY ARM of power is raised to shatter the staff of this wickedness . . . shattering the heads of your kings in this day of HIS indignation, to silence your talking heads who mouth iniquity. (Psalm 110:5)
"You are perverse, and you bind men's souls to darkness therefore we execute HIS WRITTEN LAW against you. We declare, "DESTROY" as GOD drives you out before us. For these ancient gods of Sodom and Gomorrah; these idolatrous forces of old have already been judged." (Deuteronomy 33:27)

"You are powerless ghosts and shall not rise to rule again and every trace of your supremacy perishes." (Isaiah 26:14)

[We declare the destruction of their agenda, but salvation unto their souls. Amen.]

Court Martialed Over a Bible Verse

UNACCEPTABLE! Marine Court-Martialed Simply for Displaying a Bible Verse on Her Workplace Computer

"The plight of Lance Corporal Monifa Sterling seems unbelievable-a member of the Armed Forces criminally prosecuted for displaying a slightly altered passage of Scripture from the Old Testament: 'No weapon formed against me shall prosper.'" -Todd Starnes

(Plano, TX)-[Liberty Institute] This week, Liberty Institute and volunteer attorney Paul Clement asked the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces (CAAF)-the highest military court whose cases are subject to review by the Supreme Court of the United States-to review the case of Lance Corporal (LCpl) Monifa Sterling, USMC. LCpl Sterling was convicted at a court-martial for putting a Bible verse on her computer when she was stationed at Camp Lejune, North Carolina.
After being criminally prosecuted by the United States Government, LCpl Sterling initially represented herself, then appealed her case to the Navy-Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeals. She again cited her First Amendment rights to religious expression, as well as her protection under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA). RFRA is a vital law that has been used in court to protect religious liberty in various contexts.
But in this case, both the trial and the appellate court said RFRA did not apply because displaying a Bible verse does not constitute religious exercise. Sterling and her attorneys take issue with this opinion.

"If the government can order a Marine not to display a Bible verse, they could try and order her not to get a religious tattoo, or go to church on Sunday," says Liberty Institute Director of Military Affairs and Senior Counsel Mike Berry. "Restricting a Marine's free exercise of religion is blatantly unconstitutional." (Breaking Christian News)

Our Grandmothers' Songs

Songs Our Grandmothers Sang:

UP FROM THE GRAVE HE AROSE!

"You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him." (Mark 16:6)

Lyrics:

Low in the grave he lay, Jesus my Savior,
waiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord!

Refrain:

Up from the grave he arose;
with a mighty triumph o'er his foes;
he arose a victor from the dark domain,
and he lives forever, with his saints to reign.
He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose!

Vainly they watch his bed, Jesus my Savior,
vainly they seal the dead, Jesus my Lord!

(Refrain)

Death cannot keep its prey, Jesus my Savior;
he tore the bars away, Jesus my Lord!

(Refrain)

Underwater volcano spewing lava off Oregon coast

The Axial Seamount, located some 300 miles off the West Coast, has awoken from its dormancy, say scientists.

Researchers were alerted to the possible submarine eruption of the Axial Seamount, located about 300 miles (480 kilometers) off the West Coast, by large changes in the seafloor elevation and an increase in the number of tiny earthquakes on April 24.

Geologists Bill Chadwick, of the Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory and Oregon State University, and Scott Nooner, of the University of North Carolina, Wilmington, successfully forecast the eruption in a blog post in September 2014, though they had presented their ideas at a meeting before then.

Axial Seamount is an underwater mountain that juts up 3,000 feet (900 meters) from the ocean floor, and is part of a string of volcanoes that straddle the Juan de Fuca Ridge, a tectonic-plate boundary where the seafloor is spreading apart. take the quizTest your scientific literacy! Chadwick and Nooner have been monitoring the seamount for the past 15 years by measuring tiny movements in the seafloor as the volcano inflates with magma and then deflates. During that period, the volcano has erupted two other times - once in 1998 and again in 2011.

"It's kind of like a balloon - as magma is going into the balloon, it's inflating, and it pushes the seafloor up," Chadwick told Live Science. "As more and more magma gets in, the pressure builds. Eventually, it reaches some critical pressure where [the seamount] can't hold it in anymore, and then it squirts out."

After the volcano erupts, the seafloor drops very rapidly, "like letting air out of a balloon," he said.

Slain Israeli Athletes to FINALLY be Recognized by Olympic Committee, Decades After Munich Massacre

(Israel)-[JNS.org] "We have given the best years of our lives to remember-to remember the tragedy of what happened. . . Now we are starting to see some light from all of our efforts."

Such is the sentiment of Ilana Romano, widow of Israeli weightlifter Yossef Romano, who was murdered by Palestine Liberation Organization terrorists along with 10 other members of the Israeli Olympic team during the summer of 1972 Olympics in Munich, West Germany. That fateful event became known as the "Munich Massacre."

Since then, Romano and a handful of fellow widowers have fought for the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to formally recognize the massacre with a moment of silence or official memorial. While the Games went on in 1972, the tragedy was shooed under the carpet. As recently as 2012, Romano and Ankie Spitzer, the widow of another Munich Massacre victim, pressed top Olympic officials over their refusal to honor the dead with a minute of silence at the opening ceremony of that year's London Olympics-the massacre's 40th anniversary. No such recognition was granted.

But the playing field is starting to shift.
