The Daily Brief:

"Praying for All in Authority"

Thursday, July 3, 2014

"Let me tell you what He has done for me."
(Psalm 66:16)

Anne Graham Lotz: Urgent Call to Prayer (7-7-7)

Prayer for Day Three:

Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive all WISDOM

"Christ, the power of God and the wisdom of God." (1 Corinthians 1:24)

We worship You, Lord Jesus Christ, for You are the incarnation of God's wisdom. Your judgments are unsearchable. Your ways are past finding out. Your thoughts are higher than ours. Your plans never include a mistake. There are no accidents as You carry out Your purpose. You never have to second-guess what You have done, or what You plan to do. You are right . . . all the time, in every way.

We repent of our attitude of familiarity with You that has caused us to lose our reverential fear of You, and thus we have not even the beginning of wisdom with which to handle the vast knowledge we possess.

We repent as we acknowledge our foolishness of denying You as the one, true, living God, our Creator to whom we are accountable, living as though our lives are a cosmic accident with no eternal significance, purpose or meaning.

Please note:

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners will continue to publish alerts on Friday, July 4th through Monday, July 7th -- the last day of Anne Graham Lotz' 7-7-7 Prayer Initiative.

Thank you all for praying in alignment and unity with this beautiful series of prayers of repentance for our land.

"And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse . . ." (Rev. 19:1)

The Daily Brief

1. US increases airport security worldwide, following report of increased terror threat - Fox News

The federal government is increasing security measures at some international airports with direct flights to the United States, based on recent intelligence about the continuing, worldwide terror threat, Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said Wednesday. . . . the beefed up security is almost certainly a response to recent intelligence reports suggesting that Al Qaeda-linked terrorists in Syria are working with members of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula to blow up a commercial aircraft headed to the U.S. or Europe, as reported first by ABC News. (Read more)

- Those of us who are called to pray for the safety of our nation must never take these reports lightly, and now, in light of the sudden explosion of horrific attacks by ISIS, anything is possible. We want to thank Mike and Cindy Jacobs (USRPN) for calling this article to our attention, and we invite all of our prayer partners to remain on high alert over this holiday weekend for the safety of our country.

- (All of Psalm 91)

2. Pick for V.A. Head is Former Corporate Chief - Intercessors for America

President Obama on Monday nominated Robert A. McDonald, a former chief executive of Procter & Gamble, to be the next secretary of Veterans Affairs, a White House official said Sunday, betting that a global corporate officer can turn around a government health system that has been rocked by allegations of mismanagement and cover-ups of long patient waiting times. (Read more)

- Mr. McDonald deserves a chance to bring balance and proper management back to a seriously broken and deeply flawed cabinet-level agency. Pray he will have divine wisdom and extraordinary courage to sift through what appears to be deception at many levels. He must do a thorough "house cleaning." For the sake of military personnel and veterans who have suffered neglect and abuse, let us pray for his success, so that the V.A. will once again give honor to whom honor is due. Pray for truth and light.

- (I TImothy 2:1-4) Prayer offered by IFA.

3. Store Closures May Send More Mid-Market Retailers Into Spending Spiral - Forbes

Empty malls are sending a message loud and clear - as shoppers migrate increasingly to the web, retailers must make do with fewer and smaller stores. While the downward spiral of nationwide chains like RadioShack and American Apparel grab the latest headlines, a rash of retail bankruptcies in the middle market show just how hard it is for smaller chains to steadily close stores and also stay afloat. (Read more)

- Lord God, Your people are weary, as we witness store after store collapsing under the weight of this disastrous economy. We ask that, if there is an agenda to collapse this economy . . . You, in Your mercy, would collapse that agenda for You are the Most High God and You do rule over the affairs of men. Please have mercy, O Lord, we pray, amen.

- "Contend, O LORD, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight ... never having given them cause to use us so ill . . ." (Psalm 35:1)

4. Fireworks on Wall Street: Dow Rallies Past 17K - Fox News

The blue-chip average broke past the 17000 mark for the first time in history as traders cheered a strong jobs report. (Read more)

- This would be thrilling news . . . if not the prophets are all now stating the opposite: this nation is heading into a crash. Abba Father, we ask that You would help our people to not be deceived by this news, nor to make foolish decisions about the stewardship of our own finances in the days ahead. Help us, Lord, we pray, amen.

- "Christ, the power of God and the wisdom of God." (1 Corinthians 1:24)

5. Tahmooressi's mother makes Fourth of July appeal to US ambassador to Mexico - Fox News

On the eve of Independence Day, the mother of a Marine jailed in Mexico for three months appealed to America's top diplomat south of the border, asking for help winning the freedom of her 25-year-old son, Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi.

Jill Tahmooressi, of Weston, Fla., sent a letter June 30 to E. Anthony Wayne, the U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, requesting his help in getting a Mexican federal judge to give an expedited review to her son's case, after his representation had been botched by two previous attorneys who failed to submit any evidence for the court to review.

"If any consideration can be made to expedite the reviews before the federal judge so that he will be closer to probable freedom, those actions would be much appreciated," Jill Tahmooressi wrote Wayne. (Read more)

- Father God, we appeal to the Supreme Court of heaven, asking You to rule in favor of this soldier for his release. We ask for Your justice to rule in this case, in Jesus' name, amen.

- "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free . . . " (Luke 4:18)

6. Another federal judge tells IRS to explain itself on lost emails - Fox News

IRS attorneys will be even busier than normal next week, because another federal judge has told them to show up in court July 11 to defend the federal tax agency.

They will have to explain to U.S. District Court Judge Reggie Walton why the IRS shouldn't be required to let an outside expert evaluate whether emails on the computer hard drives of former IRS official Lois Lerner and six colleagues really are lost forever, as the agency recently told Congress.

Responding to a motion filed Monday by True the Vote, a Houston-based conservative nonprofit at the center of IRS targeting during the 2010 and 2012 campaigns, Walton issued an order Tuesday to hear arguments next week. (Read more)

- Father God, we continue to pray for justice to be served in this case with the IRS and its "missing emails." There is no excuse for this mess; the hidden must be revealed, even if that must happen by means of the National Security Agency who has everything on file. We ask for a swift and final end to this story, and for the truth to come forth, and we ask in Your Name, amen.

- And the Lord said, "Hear what the unrighteous judge said; now, will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night, and will He delay long over them? I tell you that He will bring about justice for them quickly." (Luke 18:6,7)

7. Killer disease on verge of PANDEMIC - WND

U.N.: Ebola outbreak could become pandemic; Anxious health ministers from 11 countries in emergency meeting

Health ministers from 11 West African countries began a two-day Emergency Ministerial meeting in Accra, Ghana, Wednesday amid concern the outbreak of the Ebola virus that began in Ghana could spread across their region as an uncontrolled pandemic.

In a statement distributed at the United Nations, the World Health Organization, WHO, classified the current Ebola outbreak as the worst ever. (Read more)

- The Lord God Almighty is greater than any disease on earth, and He is our Great Physician, too. We cry out to Him now to help stop the spread of this plague, and to grant His wisdom to those in authority to be able to contain the Ebola outbreak, and to treat its victims. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

- "He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases." (Psalm 103:3)

8. Hackers Attack Energy Companies in the West - CNBC.com

The powerful piece of malware known as "Energetic Bear" allows its operators to monitor energy consumption in real time, or to cripple physical systems such as wind turbines, gas pipelines and power plants at will.

The well-resourced organisation behind the cyber attack is believed to have compromised the computer systems of more than 1,000 organisations in 84 countries in a campaign spanning 18 months. The malware is similar to the Stuxnet computer programme created by the US and Israel that succeeded in infecting and sabotaging Iran's uranium enrichment facilities two years ago. (Read more)

- Once again, Lord, we turn to You for wisdom. We lift up the many "IT" specialists who are charged with keeping our computer systems and networks safe from harm, and we ask that You would grant Your wisdom to know how to act to cancel this latest threat in cyberspace. Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer, amen.

- "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and [a]without reproach, and it will be given to him." (James 1:5)

9. U.S. Nuke Sites Dismantled Security to Save Money - Washington Free Beacon

Problems persist two years after major security breach

The organization responsible for securing America's highly sensitive nuclear sites has been suffering from a "chaotic" and "dysfunctional" security policy that has endangered the country's nuclear sites and left them vulnerable to attack, according to a new report by the government's watchdog group.

The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), which is tasked with managing the nation's nuclear stockpile and securing classified research sites, has "increased risks and reduced security" over the past several years in a bid to reduce overhead costs, according to a new Government Accountability Office (GAO) report.

Security vulnerabilities at these NNSA sites still persist two years after a major breach at one of its top facilities in Tennessee. The administration's own officials have described the security policy as "chaotic" and "dysfunctional," according to the report. (Read more)

- Lord God, we do not understand why this president continues to make policy decisions that weaken our national security, while our enemies are strengthening their own hand. We ask You to forgive Barack Hussein Obama for his wicked ways, for only You can do this for us; and we ask You to help us know how to pray, in Jesus' name, amen.

- "Show me your ways, LORD, teach me your paths." (Psalm 25:4)

10. Hurricane Arthur strengthens over Atlantic, expected to become
Category 2
- Fox News

Hurricane Arthur, as seen from space, is gathering strength over the Atlantic as forecasters predict it will become a strong Category 2 storm, threatening to deliver North Carolina a glancing blow on Independence Day. (Read more)

- Once again, Lord God, we turn to You, knowing that You can and will direct "the wind and the waves" wheresover you desire. We ask for Your mercy over this hurricane, and that it would stay out to sea, posing little or no danger to the inhabitants of the land. Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer, amen and amen.

- They were terrified and asked each other, "Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!" (Mark 4:41)

Psaki was responding to queries about whether the administration would reconsider its approach towards the interim P.A. government, given a barrage of rockets fired from the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip and Israel's accusation that Hamas abducted and murdered three teenagers.

She said the State Department continues to evaluate the composition, policies and actions of the unity government, "and nothing has changed in that regard." (Read more)

Prayer Request:

Father God, we continue to come before Your Throne of Grace in repentance for the actions of our government that threaten Israel's security. We ask that You lift the "muddy waters" of this stated policy off the minds of the president and his advisers, and that You would intervene to bring clarity to this crisis. We repent for a policy by this administration of "double speak" regarding all matters pertaining to Israel, and we ask this in Your name, amen.

1. Palestinian jihadists seek unity with ISIS - WND

There is an attempt by jihadist organizations in the Gaza Strip to unite under the common banner of the al-Qaida-inspired Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, according to informed Middle Eastern security officials.

Contacted by WND, Abu Saqer, one of the top leaders of Jihadiya Salafiya, which represents al-Qaida ideology in the Gaza Strip, confirmed the attempt to organize various jihad groups to fight Israel under the ISIS umbrella.

Saqer claimed there is also an effort to recruit jihadists to ISIS from inside the West Bank, particularly in the Hebron region.

While the exact nature of the ISIS presence in Gaza remains unclear, the group's flags were seen flying at a funeral this past Sunday for two terrorists eliminated in an Israel Air Force strike last Friday, Israel's daily Maariv newspaper reported. The terrorists' coffins were reportedly also draped in ISIS flags. (Read more)

The Daily Jot

Of Democracies and Republics

As we begin to celebrate Independence Day in America, we are reminded that elected representative government is a good thing. No where in the world has a country prospered as much the United States of America under its Constitutional Republic-mind you, this country is not a democracy. The definition of a republic is: a government in which supreme power resides in a body of citizens entitled to vote and is exercised by elected officers and representatives responsible to them and governing according to law. This means that there are people who are entitled to vote and elect representatives that are responsible to the voters because of the law. And all law has its roots in the supreme authority of God's law.

A democracy, however, is something different. And it is a term loosely used by politicians and citizens alike. A democracy is defined as: a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections. You see the difference? Democracy does not necessarily involve the rule of law. There is no requirement to vote, no true accountability to the voters. A lot of issues are at stake in debating democracy and a constitutional republic. One issue for sure is the qualification of voters-anyone can vote in a democracy, only those qualified can vote in a republic.
A democracy is what President George W. Bush helped establish in the so-called Palestinian Territories. And the people elected a terrorist group, Hamas, to represent them, legitimizing Hamas in the eyes of the world. Hamas was supposed to join in peace efforts with Israel. Instead, Hamas has picked a fight with Israel, has killed and kidnapped Israeli soldiers, and has attacked Israel's children by lashing out at schools and hospitals. Hamas was responsible for the horrible and unnecessary deaths of three teen boys, one an American citizen. And so far, polls show the "Palestinian" people standing solidly behind the actions and threats of Hamas. The current US president hardly acknowledges these atrocities.

The US made a major miscalculation in forcing "democracy" onto the Arab peoples of the Middle East and Northern Africa because in a democracy, the rule of law is secondary to the rule of the mob. A free society must be governed by moral people according to law, otherwise Hamas happens. The rule of law can only be based in God's law because God is the supreme authority, who never changes. America's republic was successful because it is based on God's law and largely has required moral people to hold office, but look what happened when the "president" only enforces the laws he favors. Galatians 5:1 says, "Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." Bondage is sin as is lawlessness and we can be slaves to sin or dedicated to the liberty in Christ.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

A Prayer to Secure Israel's Boundaries

A Prayer to Secure Israel's Boundaries

PART TWO: PRAYER FOR THE LORD'S PROTECTION OF ISRAEL

Almighty God, we join together in agreement as brothers and sisters in Christ to declare in accordance with Your Word that no weapon formed against Israel shall prosper, and that every tongue that rises against Israel in judgment we shall refute. This is the heritage You have given us as Your servants, Lord, and our righteousness is from You, our God.

Lord God, we bring before You every rocket, missile, mortar bomb, bullet, shell, bomb, grenade, fire-bomb, molotov cocktail, stone, knife, axe, bull-dozer, explosive barrel, explosive tunnel, anti-tank mine, anti-personnel mine, any weapon of mass destruction (WMD), any cyber attack, or any other weapon of any description, directed against Israel, its defence forces and/or its people . . . from Gaza, from what the media calls the West Bank, from within Israel, from under the ground, from the oceans or from the sky, from any nation, group, or person . . . and we ask Lord God that You will brush them aside safely from Israel, its defence forces, and its people, or cause them to fall harmlessly to the ground, or be neutralised in some other way.
We give You all the praise, all the glory, and all the honour for the way that You have continued to do that since Operation Cast Lead in early 2009 up to the present day.

Lord, we pray that You will continue to do these things in the days to come, for Your glory, for Your honour, for Your name's sake as the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the Holy One of Israel. All this we pray in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Son of the only living God

CLOWARD-PIVEN AT THE BORDER

CLOWARD-PIVEN AT THE BORDER

[An excerpt from Human Events. Full article available here.]

Back in the Sixties, Marxists Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven came up with a great strategy for overloading and collapsing democratic welfare states, paving the way for socialist tyranny. Basically, the idea was to hit the system with a tidal wave of demands it couldn't refuse, and couldn't possibly fulfill. The Left would then insist that the moral argument for the system remained intact, so the only way to meet those impossible demands was to scrap every vestige of Constitutional restraint and republican self-government, instituting a totalitarian system that in theory would forcibly restructure society to promote "fairness" and give all those government dependents what they "deserve." (In practice, of course, what you actually get is an iron-fisted dictatorship that cooks up reports to make itself look good, or simply tells the unhappy citizens to shut up and obey when things deteriorate to the point that no volume of phony reports can paper over the problems - say, when the glorious worker's paradise of Venezuela runs out of tap water.)

Cloward and Piven were specifically interested in replacing welfare programs with a government-guaranteed annual income for everyone - an idea that still emerges from the more absurd quarters of the Left occasionally - but the basic idea of overloading the republican system and replacing it with centrally-planned tyranny can be applied in many different ways. Take a look at the humanitarian crisis on the southern border, which I wrote about two weeks ago. It has since burst onto the front pages with some astonishing stories, including leaked photos of illegal alien children - many of them 12 years old and younger - "warehoused" in overcrowded facilities, where there are growing concerns about sanitation and disease. CBS News in Houston writes of unaccompanied minors sleeping on plastic boards in a Nogales, Arizona warehouse after being flown in from south Texas. According to some estimates, there are nearly a thousand children in that warehouse now.
[Editor's note: that number has greatly increased since this article was first published on June 9th.]
There's nothing complicated about what is happening here. Barack Obama invited these people to send their children to the United States as refugees. He's already made illegal use of executive orders to gut the immigration system; he's talking about doing it again, and the people of South and Central America can hear him just fine. There have been anecdotal reports of a message being spread throughout Central American countries, by everything from word-of-mouth gossip to news media: "Go to America with your child, you won't be turned away." (It will come as no surprise to learn that the Mexican government is not doing much to halt the train of amnesty-seekers headed for American soil. On the contrary, corrupt Mexican officials are trying to get a cut of the profits from the refugee-smuggling trade.)
And it's not just the President sending those signals, since there's a vibrant bipartisan amnesty chorus in Congress. Obama will only seize power to rewrite the laws if Congress doesn't do it fast enough for his taste, or if he sees electoral advantage in taking matters into his own hands. Young illegals are particularly cherished by the American ruling class, which has dubbed them "Dreamers" and frankly describes them as superior in motivation and potential to native-born young people. There is every reason for families who live in South America to think their children will be given citizenship, plus special perks (such as access to discounted college tuition rates) if they can get them to the U.S. border. The Obama Administration is even talking about providing the young illegals with attorneys. The Federal Emergency Management Agency has become involved at President Obama's direction.
This tidal wave of illegals is not an accident, and not entirely a result of conditions in Central America (which have deteriorated lately, but were already bad enough to inspire any sane person to seek a new life elsewhere.) These people were summoned. And now that they're here, the system is collapsing beneath their weight. In addition to the refugees flown to Arizona in the CBS News story above, the El Paso Times reports two planeloads of illegals arriving for processing. "The vast majority of individuals transferred were family units from Central America and Mexico with children," according to an El Paso official.

Meriam Ibrahim:

My Newborn Daughter is Physically Disabled Because I Gave Birth in Chains

I gave birth chained. Not cuffs - but chains on my legs. Something has happened to [my] baby." -Meriam Ibrahim

(Sudan) - Sudanese Christian Meriam Ibrahim, who was recently released from prison and is now being prevented from leaving the country, has given her first interview to The Guardian.

In the interview, Meriam states that her newborn daughter Mara is disabled because she was forced to give birth to her in prison while shackled.

"I gave birth chained," she said. "Not cuffs - but chains on my legs. I couldn't open my legs so the women had to lift me off the table. I wasn't lying on the table. Something has happened to [my] baby. I don't know in the future whether she'll need support to walk or not."
Of Meriam's struggle to get out of Sudan to America, Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, said, "While Americans get ready to enjoy the long weekend, there's one family overseas wishing they could join the 4th of July celebration here in the US: Meriam Ibrahim, her husband Daniel and their two tiny children still wait in Khartoum for the green light to come to the states."

"Please join me," he added, "in lifting up Meriam, Daniel, Martin, and Maya in prayer - and continue to use your social media platforms to keep the pressure on US officials to act. Meriam can't afford for us to abandon her now." (LifeNews) Read more here.

Lightning Strikes Top of One World Trade Center in NY.

July 2, 2014

A fireworks display on July 2 may be a bit premature for some, but Mother Nature apparently couldn't wait to get the show started in Gotham on Wednesday.

A strong thunderstorm rolled through New York City around 8 p.m. ET, bringing an ominous and spectacular display of lightning, dark clouds and heavy rain. The incredible scene, which included an apparent direct lightning strike at the top of One World Trade Center, was caught by several cameras and photographers, whose pictures quickly made the rounds on social media.

A great series of before, during and after pictures was taken and posted on Twitter by New York-based photojournalist Gary Hershorn, who came away with similar shots of NYC under assault by a storm in May. One of Hershorn's pictures from Wednesday's storm was retweeted over 1,400 times and favorited over 700 times within two hours after it was published:

Should you see any fireworks that matches or beats this scene, it will have been a great holiday.

"And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."
