The Daily Brief:

"Praying for All in Authority"

Monday, July 21, 2014

"Great is Thy faithfulness . . ." (Lam. 3:23)
Dear Friends,

Welcome to the Monday edition of the Daily Brief. We are publishing this edition "first thing" today, due to the pressing need to lift up ISRAEL in prayer as they continue to press in to eradicate all Hamas strongholds in Gaza. We thank you for lifting up the prayers for Israel at this time, which include intercession for the families of the 18 IDF soldiers who have now lost their lives in this battle.

Our next edition of the Daily Brief will be posted on Tuesday morning, before noon, EDT.

The Daily Brief

1. Netanyahu: Hamas expected Tel Aviv to be in ruins; 13 IDF soldiers killed - Times of Israel

PM asserts Israel will neutralize Hamas, either militarily or diplomatically; 13 Golani Brigade soldiers killed overnight in heavy fighting focused on Hamas stronghold of Shejaiya, where Palestinians report 60 killed.

The IDF announced Sunday evening that 13 Golani Brigade soldiers died overnight in fighting in Gaza, raising the Israeli army death toll to 18. The soldiers were killed in heavy combat in the Hamas stronghold of Shejaiya, which also left 60 Palestinians dead, Gaza Health Ministry officials said. Israel said the neighborhood is a Hamas stronghold, and that the army had warned residents to evacuate it. On Saturday, two IDF soldiers - Major (res.) Amotz Greenberg, 45, and Sgt. Adar Barsano, 20 - were killed after a Hamas terror cell infiltrated Israel through a tunnel; later two more soldiers, 2nd Lt. Bar Rahav and Sgt. Bnaya Rubel were killed in two separate incidents. (Read more)

- Father God, we ask You to comfort the families of these brave young IDF soldiers who lost their lives last night in defense of freedom. May each of these thirteen families experience the peace that only You can bring, and may they be comforted, too, in knowing that their sons and daughters have died as heroes for the nation of Israel. We ask this prayer, in Jesus' name, amen.

- "Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted." (Matthew 5:4)

2. The treacherous task of tunnel demolition - Times of Israel

he tunnel threat, the unknowingness of it, has eclipsed the threat of rockets in Israel's war with Gaza. This may change in the future, if detection methods improve. For now, though, after narrowly thwarting a mega-attack in the Eshkol region on Thursday, Israel has sent in troops to find, probe, and destroy the underground arteries that stretch beneath the border, all along the border.

Brig. Gen. (res) Shimi Daniel, a former commander of the combat engineering corps, painted a more complex picture. He said Thursday on Channel 2 news that the entrance shafts of the tunnels are located within civilian homes and that, by the time troops arrive, "they've already poured fresh concrete over the opening." (Read more)

- Lord God in Heaven, we ask You to please loosen the tongues of the people in Gaza who know of the whereabouts of these tunnels, rocket sites, terrorists, communication stations and every single thing the IDF needs to know so that they can wage Operation Protective Edge with precision, skill and absolute success. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

- "For nothing is hidden, except to be revealed; nor has anything been secret, but that it would come to light." (Mark 4:22)

3. Malaysia Airlines releases MH17 passenger manifest - Fox News

Malaysia Airlines released a full list of passengers and crew on Saturday that were killed when flight MH17 was shot down over Ukraine.

The airline appealed to family and friends of the victims to contact the carrier so it can get a full picture of the next of kin. A spokesman said Malaysia Airlines is assessing security in Ukraine before making a decision about possibly flying next of kin to the country where 298 passengers and crew lost their lives.

The spokesman who declined to be named in line with company policy, said family members are being care for in Amsterdam while a team from the carrier, including security officials, is on the ground in Ukraine. He said the team was trying to travel "500 kilometers (310 miles) through difficult territory" to reach the area where wreckage of the Boeing 777 landed.  (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, we pray that the release of this passenger manifest will now encourage these families to come forth, assisting the airline's staff for confirmation, and may all who have been lost be made known.  Father, we especially pray that You would comfort and strengthen the families in their grief over this horrific loss.  We pray in the Name of Jesus, Amen and Amen.

- "For this is God, our God forever and ever; He will be our guide even to death." (Psalm 48:14)

4. Rebels to give MH17 black boxes to aviation group, separatist leader says - Fox News

The black boxes for the downed Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 have been found, a Ukraine rebel leader said Sunday. Alexander Borodai said that the devices would be handed over to the International Civil Aviation Organization.

The announcement came as international investigators and Ukrainian officials said that pro-Russia separatists forced emergency services to surrender the bodies of 196 victims of the plane crash and loaded them onto refrigerated trains bound for a rebel-held city. Borodai said the bodies would remain in refrigerated containers at a train station in the town of Torez until the arrival of an international aviation delegation. The surprising, rapid-fire developments Sunday morning came after a wave of international outrage over how the bodies of plane crash victims were being handled and amid fears that the armed rebels who control the territory where the plane came down could be tampering with the evidence.

Ukraine and the separatists accuse each other of firing a surface-to-air missile Thursday at Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 as it flew from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur some 33,000 feet above the battlefields of eastern Ukraine. Both deny shooting down the plane. All those onboard the flight -- 283 passengers and 15 crew -- were killed. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, we ask You to allow the hidden things about this crash to be exposed and the truth to arise to the surface.  The issues in the Ukraine have been a long list of each side accusing the other, to the point of where one is not certain what really is happening and by whom.  We thank You in advance for letting all be revealed that needs to be known.  We pray in the Name of Jesus. Amen and Amen.

- "Dishonest scales are an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is His delight. When pride comes, then comes shame; but with the humble is wisdom. The integrity of the upright will guide them, but the perversity of the unfaithful will destroy them." (Proverbs 11:1-3)

5. Hundreds of protests set this weekend against illegal immigration, Obama's policies - Fox News

Hundreds of protests are taking place across United States this weekend in opposition to the surge of immigrants illegally crossing the country's southern border and proposed immigration reform that organizers say gives amnesty to those already living illegal in the United States.

Organizers say 321 protests will take place over the next two days -- from state capitals to highway overpasses to Mexican consulates. The protests have been sparked by the thousands of Central American immigrants who in the past few weeks have entered the United States illegally in hopes of staying. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, we thank You for being in the midst of these protests, where the legitimate concerns be heard of too many people at once being required to be absorbed by overwhelmed communities.  Let the issues of the high level of diseases being brought into the country and the housing needs be acted upon.  May the lack of following state and national laws as to immigration be fairly responded to from this protest, not just current governmental 'wants' being enforced upon this nation's current legitimate citizens.  We pray this in the Name of Jesus, Amen and Amen.

- "Vindicate me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation; oh, deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man!" (Psalm 43:1)

[Also prayed over this issue on Friday; but more is always needed!]

6. Day 8: IRS still can't find Lerner's hard drive - WND

Despite a judge's order to produce evidence by today's deadline in the IRS' targeting of tea-party groups, the tax agency is swearing ignorance -- under oath -- of what happened to Lois Lerner's computer hard drive, that she claims crashed three years ago. That means it is doubtful the judge will let the conservative group True the Vote have an independent expert do a forensic examination of what happened to the hard drive. But the group's lawyer, Cleta Mitchell, told WND it is still "is a big step in the right direction" because "we have more information today than Congress has gotten from the hearsay testimony of the IRS commissioner." (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, we ask You to have Your truth and justice to arise out of this investigation.  It seems increasingly that falsehoods and convenient technological problems arise from these agencies when groups who believe in You and in the Constitution want their equal rights to be respected and allowed.  We ask You to arise and extend Your right hand over these hearings, opening up what is hidden in darkness.   We pray in Jesus' Name, Amen and Amen.

- "To do evil is like sport to a fool, but a man of understanding has wisdom."  (Proverbs 10:23)

7. Obama to Sign Order Barring Federal Discrimination against Gays - Newsmax

President Barack Obama will sign an executive order on Monday barring federal contractors from discriminating on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity, senior administration officials said. The White House said last month that Obama would issue the order but declined to give details on its content or the timing of when he would do so. The order will allow some exemptions for religious groups that are federal contractors but not as much flexibility as the groups had wanted. A religious organization would be barred from making hiring decisions based on sexual orientation or gender identity. Exceptions would be allowed for ministers, and groups would be allowed to favor individuals of a particular religion when hiring. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, the rights of this one group are being honored and lifted up over the rights of a number of other groups.  There appears to be no balance as to what is being enforced, and the violation of rights for people not belonging to this special group based on sexual orientation or gender identity are ignored regardless of the consequences to the goals and beliefs of the business involved.  Help us Lord and have mercy upon us!  We pray this in the Name of Jesus, Amen and Amen.

- "Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all sins." (Proverbs 10:12)

The Middle East in Focus

OPERATION PROTECTIVE EDGE

This week, for all the headlines cited below, please join us in proclaiming THIS DECREE:

"Hear, O Israel, you are approaching the battle against your enemies today. Do not be fainthearted. Do not be afraid, or panic, or tremble before them, for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you." (Deuteronomy 20:3,4)

1. The Middle East Problem: A short summary - Dennis Prager

The Middle East conflict is framed as one of the most complex problems in the world. But, in reality, it's very simple. Israelis want to live in peace and are willing to accept a neighboring Palestinian state. And most Palestinians do not want Israel to exist. As Dennis Prager explains, this is really all you need to know. In 5 minutes, understand how Israel was founded, and how, since that auspicious day in 1948, its neighbors have tried to destroy it, again and again. (View this video here.)

2. Heavily Armed Terrorists Didn't See This Coming When They Emerged From Their Tunnel - Western Journalism

The Israeli military on Thursday said 13 Hamas terrorists, equipped with rocket-propelled grenades and other weapons, were stopped after getting into Israel through a smuggling tunnel. They were less than two miles from an Israeli community. This video released from the Israel Defense Forces shows the militants emerging from a tunnel, then quickly trying to get back into the tunnel once they realized they had been discovered. Just before they can clamor back into the tunnel, a bomb was dropped on them by a Israeli air force jet, the IDF said. The IDF then released images of the weapons the terrorists had as they tried to escape into the tunnel.

3. The IDF clears names of five soldiers killed in Gaza - Jerusalem Post

13 Israeli soldiers from the Golani Brigade were killed since Saturday night in fighting in Gaza, bringing the total number of military fatalities in Operation Protective Edge to 18.

In one incident, in the early hours of Sunday morning, an APC carrying soldiers from Golani's 13th Battalion drove over an explosive device and caught fire, killing seven who were onboard.

Shortly afterward, soldiers from the battalion engaged terrorists in a gun battle, and one soldier was killed in the exchange of fire. Hours later, two soldiers were killed in a firefight with a terrorist cell in Gaza. Three members of the Golani Reconnaissance Brigade were killed when a fire tore through the building they were in, shortly before 9 a.m.

The military is still completing the process of identifying the rest of the fallen soldiers. The families had been notified of the soldiers' deaths.

The IDF released on Sunday night five names of soldiers killed in Gaza overnight on Saturday.

Major Tzafrir Bar Or, 32, from Holon
Captain Tzvika Kaplan, 28, from Kdomim
Sgt. Gilad Yaakovi, 21, from Kiryat Ono
Sgt. Uzi Mandelovitz, from Avtalion
Sgt. Sean Carmeli, 21, from Ra'anana

- Lord God Almighty in Heaven, only You can bring comfort to those who mourn in Zion tonight. Abba, we ask that You would surround those who grieve with the shalom of Your presence in their lives. We ask tonight . . . in Jesus' name, amen.

- "Comfort ye, comfort ye My people . . ." (Isaiah 40:1)

4. Golani Brigade Commander Seriously Injured - Israel National News

Golani Brigade commander, Colonel Raslan Alian, was seriously wounded overnight Saturday-Sunday during the fighting in Gaza and was evacuated for medical treatment.

Col. Alian fought in the Second Lebanon War and was wounded fighting Hezbollah. Alian is the first Druze to have been appointed commander of the Golani Brigade. He is married and father of one; he and his family live in Shfar'am.

Four additional soldiers who were wounded in Gaza were evacuated via helicopter overnight Saturday, and arrived - with Alian - at the Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer.

Twenty-three IDF soldiers have been injured since Operation Protective Edge launched a ground offensive Thursday night. Of those, three were seriously injured, two suffered moderate injuries, and the remainder suffered light injuries. (Read more)

- Father, we pray, too, for all those now injured and wounded in this conflict. We ask for rapid healing for each one, in Your name, amen.

- "By His stripes, ye were healed." (Isaiah 53:5)

5. Injured Golani Brigade commander: "I need to get back to my men" - Israel Natoinal News

Despite doctors' orders, Col. Rassan Alian, who was injured overnight in Gaza, told his family he wants to return to be by his soldiers.

Col. Rassan Alian, a Golani Brigade battalion commander, was injured overnight Saturday in light-to-moderate condition and was evacuated to Soroka Medical Center in Be'er Sheva. He talked with his family members on the phone, telling them he intended to return to his soldiers in the Gaza Strip. Alian was injured by shrapnel, including in his eyes, but his vision was undamaged. He still needs to undergo an orthopedic examination, and his doctors have clarified to him that he must stay in the hospital and continue the tests, but he insisted.

6. General: IDF Taking Down Hamas' Underground City - Israel National News

The IDF has discovered an "underground city" in Gaza filled with explosives, IDF Spokesman Brigadier-General Moti Almoz said Sunday. He spoke to Channel 10 following the discovery of at least 36 terror tunnels in Gaza. Many of the tunnels were filled with rockets, explosives and other weapons. "Hamas planned these tunnels for years, and planned to use them to kidnap soldiers. [Now] they see the tunnels collapsing one after the other," Almoz declared. Hamas "built an underground city full of bombs, meant to evade the IDF and to use in serious terrorist attacks," he added. (Read more)

7. IDF Creates Field Hospital for Injured Palestinians - Israel National News

The IDF will create a field hospital outside Gaza in order to treat injured Palestinians, army sources announced Sunday. Chief of Staff Benny Gantz has approved the measure.

The hospital will be located near the Erez crossing in northern Gaza, near the site of recent heavy battles. It is expected to be active by 8 p.m. Sunday. It will be available to treat ill as well as injured patients, and will include a delivery room. (Read more)

10. U.S. signs agreement for $11 billion arms sale to Qatar - Reuters

The United States signed an agreement with Qatar on Monday to sell the Gulf Arab ally Apache attack helicopters and Patriot and Javelin air-defense systems valued at $11 billion.

"Today's signing ceremony underscores the strong partnership between the United States and Qatar in the area of security and defense and will help improve our bilateral cooperation across a range of military operations," Pentagon spokesman Rear Admiral John Kirby said in a statement.

The agreement was signed at the Pentagon by U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel and Qatar's defense minister, Hamad bin Ali al-Attiyah. It was the biggest U.S. arms sale so far this year, according to media reports.

- Father God, we ask that You would cause Congress to hold hearings about this travesty, for we do not understand why we keep arming those who wish us evil. We ask that these funds be blocked from reaching Qatar -- an ally of HAMAS -- until an appropriate investigation has been made into this matter. This is our tax money; it needs to be spent for the good of our people, and not for our detriment. Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer, amen.

- "For nothing is hidden, except to be revealed; nor has anything been secret, but that it would come to light." (Mark 4:22)

OPERATION NORMANDY:

Praying over the invasion of illegal immigrants on our southern border

This week please join us in proclaiming THIS DECREE over the headlines below:

Foreigners submit to me.
Foreigners fade away,
And come trembling out of their fortresses."

1. Texas Grassroots Leaders Demand National Guard at Border, Special Session - Breitbart

AUSTIN, Texas-A coalition of conservative, tea party, and grassroots activists--along with other Texans concerned about the situation at the border--gathered at the Capitol for a press conference this week. Despite the conservative leanings of the speakers, some of the harshest criticism was directed at two Republicans: Texas Governor Rick Perry and Attorney General Greg Abbott.

Clearly frustrated with the response-or lack thereof-from President Obama and the federal government, the speakers turned their focus to the actions that are within the powers of the state of Texas, demanding that Perry and Abbott direct their powers at Texas elected officials to protect the border and call up the Texas National Guard, as well as a separate demand for a special session just to address this issue.

"We have all reached the conclusion that Governor Perry needs to stop asking Washington to come save us," said Grassroots America Executive Director JoAnn Fleming in her opening remarks. "Washington is not on its way to save us. We're asking Governor Perry and Attorney General Greg Abbott to work together to invoke Article I, Section 10, Clause 3 of the United States Constitution; that gives states rights to declare an 'imminent danger'and to call up the Texas National Guard." 2. OBAMA EX-SECRET SERVICE AGENT WARNS OF NEW POWER GRAB - WND

'It's not just the president, it's his anointed aristocrats'

After swearing an oath to protect the life of Barack Obama and then resigning, one former Secret Service agent is calling the president out for an alarming overreach of power he claims is risking the lives of Americans. "The president has abdicated his duty to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution, especially where illegal immigration is concerned," Dan Bongino told WND in an interview. A 12-year veteran of the Secret Service and candidate for Congress in Maryland's Sixth District, he called the current state of the U.S. border "the most unsecure situation you could possibly imagine." 3. Graham joins Cruz in blaming Obama for immigration woes - Fox News

Calls on GOP House 'to lead'

South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham on Sunday blamed the border crisis on President Obama, but also argued his Republican Party is doomed in the 2016 presidential race unless the GOP House next year helps fix the country's broken immigration policies.

Graham's comments followed those made earlier on "Fox News Sunday' by Texas GOP Sen. Ted Cruz, who largely pinned the border crisis on Obama's 2012 executive memo.

Cruz argued the number of children trying to enter the U.S. illegally has "skyrocketed" since 2012 when Obama allowed some young illegal immigrants to be eligible for delay deportation.

He says roughly 6,000 children were apprehended in 2011 coming into the U.S. illegally, compared to an estimated 90,000 coming this year and 145,000 in 2015. (Read more)

4. White House reportedly dismissed border crisis as 'local problem' in 2013 - Fox News

The Obama administration ignored a report to the Department of Homeland Security last year which predicted that a large number of unaccompanied children would arrive at America's southern border in the coming months, according to a published report. . . the government had little reaction to the report's warning and viewed the situation as a "local problem." Manjarrez added that a crisis on the scale of what has developed over the past several months was "not on anyone's radar [even though] it was pretty clear this number of kids was going to be the new baseline." Update: Crash of Malaysia Flight 17

Update: Crash of Malaysia Flight 17

. . . To add some clarity to the blame game and to save readers time wading through the disinformation and redirects of the mainstream media, there is a high likelihood that the militaries of both the US and Russia knew within seconds of the launch of the missile, the location of the launcher, as well as the moment the missile's flight terminated with an impact on or near the aircraft.

While not spoken of widely in public forums, the U.S. and Russia both maintain extensive satellite surveillance capabilities and are constantly on the lookout for what are referred to as "special infrared events," which are the superheated exhaust plumes indicative of a missile launch. This, along considerable ground-based and airborne long-range radars deployed throughout the region, makes it extremely difficult to fly above a certain altitude and NOT be detected, even more so given this is a war zone. Both Russia and the NATO alliance go to great lengths to keep a close eye on what is happening across the three dimensional battlespace and there are few airborne surprises.

With this in mind, it is also safe to assume that while the national command authorities of the U.S., Russia and key NATO member states likely already know most of the details surrounding the event, comparatively little will be shared with civilian authorities or the media as to do so would reveal highly sensitive sources, methods and capabilities. It would also reduce options if, say..., explanations other than the truth were needed.

For instance, while most fingers are pointing toward Russian backed separatists as being responsible as they are already known to have downed multiple Ukrainian military aircraft in just the past few weeks, there is another side to this story and as we have shown in the past, the standard mainstream narrative is often far from accurate.

That said, on Wednesday, just one day before the attack on the airliner, the Pentagon publicly expressed deep concerns over the renewed buildup of Russian forces on the Eastern border of Ukraine.

According to Pentagon spokesman Army Col. Steve Warren:

"We believe there are now between 10,000 and 12,000 Russian troops on the border. A few weeks ago, about 1,000 Russian soldiers were along the border. I can't speak for what they intend to do. Certainly, it is intimidating."

Suffice it to say this incident and other recent events dramatically compounds tensions in the region and globally. NATO member states are now operating at heightened states of alert, increasing defensive patrols and civil aviation authorities worldwide are directing commercial airlines to completely avoid Ukrainian airspace. Russia Military to Return to Cuba

RUSSIAN MILITARY TO RETURN TO CUBA

With tension between the U.S. and Russia at their highest point since the days of the Cold War, this week Russia announced a new agreement with Cuba to reopen a powerful electronic surveillance station on the island near the city of Lourdes located approximately 20 miles South of Havana.

Before it was mothballed in 2001 due to a closer relationship with the U.S., the station was Russia's largest signals intelligence facility abroad, measuring 28 square miles in size and hosting upwards of 3000 intelligence, military and engineering personnel. Given the decline in relations with the U.S. over the last several years and Russia's increased military presence in this hemisphere, the decision was made to reopen the facility.
The agreement finalizing the move was reportedly signed late last week during Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to the island. (Threat Journal) Read more.

Update: Boehner Sues Obama

Update: Speaker of the House Files Lawsuit Against the President of the United States

GOP Suits up for Case against Obama

President Obama told the GOP to sue him -- and House conservatives plan to. Tired of the lawlessness from this White House, Speaker John Boehner is making good on his promise to file suit against the President for his pattern of constitutional disregard. While congressional Democrats pan the idea, the House Rules Committee found plenty of legal experts in favor of it. Men and women across the ideological aisle see the danger in consolidating power with the President. Jonathan Turley, an Obama voter and George Washington University professor, testified that the lawsuit was a "worthy" effort.
Despite personally supporting the President and ObamaCare, he thinks the administration has overstepped its bounds. "Our system is changing in a dangerous and destabilizing way. We are seeing the emergence of a different model of government in our country -- a model long ago rejected by the Framers," Turley said. Florida International University's Elizabeth Price Foley echoed his concerns, explaining that "When a President unilaterally waives, delays, or suspends a law such as [ObamaCare], he squelches any opportunity to have a robust, political debate about the workability of the law, and thereby undermines democracy itself."
While some claim that Congress has the ultimate authority to keep the President in check with its power of the purse, even Turley realizes that the administration's ability to move money around nullifies this check on Executive. Either way, it's time someone held this President accountable. And we're grateful that Speaker Boehner is prepared to pursue every avenue to try. (Family Research Council)

Boehner v. Obama

Yesterday the House Rules Committee heard testimony from constitutional law experts on Speaker John Boehner's resolution authorizing a lawsuit against President Obama's abuse of executive power. One of the experts testifying in favor of the lawsuit was left-wing law professor Jonathan Turley.

For the record, Turley voted for Obama and has advocated in favor of polygamy. Yet he also respects our Constitution, the rule of law and our system of checks and balances. Here is a portion of Turley's testimony:

"Our system is changing in a dangerous and destabilizing way. . . The rise of a dominant presidency has occurred with relatively little congressional opposition. Indeed, when President Obama pledged to circumvent Congress, he received rapturous applause from the very body that he was promising to make practically irrelevant.

"The president's pledge to effectively govern alone is alarming but what is most alarming is his ability to fulfill that pledge. When a president can govern alone, he can become a government unto himself, which is precisely the danger that the Framers sought to avoid in the establishment of our tripartite system of government. . . Our system was designed to withstand enormous pressures and change. What we are witnessing today is one of the greatest challenges to our constitutional system in the history of this country."

Obama promised to "fundamentally transform" America. As Turley acknowledged, he has succeeded in part because Democrats in Congress have enabled him. While I hope Speaker Boehner's lawsuit succeeds, the best remedy is for the American people to elect more conservatives to public office who are truly committed to our Constitution and our values. Border Security Is National Security

Border Security Is National Security

We already know that Hezbollah is all over Latin America. Border Patrol agents are finding Korans, prayer rugs and Urdu dictionaries along the border. We just ran through the math regarding how many people are coming in every day. Imagine if five are terrorists and suppose only three get through. In a year, 1,000 terrorists could be spread out all over the country, courtesy of the U.S. government.

This is not a hypothetical exercise, my friends. Just consider what Ronald Colburn, former national deputy chief of the U.S. Border Patrol, recently told National Review Online:

"All of the good that was done after 9/11 up to now has been reversed singlehandedly. What this situation on the border is doing is growing the haystack, is adding clutter, so that those dangerous needles get through because we're tied up capturing, instead, juvenile children from Guatemala and El Salvador."

By the way, this surge of children crossing the border didn't start last month. Back in January the Obama Administration sought a vendor to escort 65,000 unaccompanied children from the border to shelters throughout the country.

In our 24/7 instant information culture, how did our free press miss this one? Why wasn't that vendor notice news in January?

There is speculation that the Obama Administration kept a lid on the crisis as long as it could in the hope that the GOP House would move on his quasi-amnesty bill. But this massive wave of illegal immigration highlights just how porous our borders really are. Border security and our national security must come first! (Gary Bauer)

The Good News Corner

A Victory for Professor Mike Adams at UNC

Former Atheist, now Christian, Wins in Court

Faith can be an occupational hazard. Just ask Associate Professor Mike Adams. The 21-year teacher of criminology was the perfect candidate for promotion -- except for one thing. His faith in Christ. The University of North Carolina Wilmington had hired Adams as an atheist, but his conversion didn't do much to boost his career. Over time, he started writing columns and doing media appearances from a conservative perspective -- infuriating UNCW's forces of political correctness in the process.

Like most universities, the faculty was a fraternity of liberals, who insist on diversity but practice anything but. When Dr. Adams applied for a full professorship, the school turned him down. In 2007, Adams sued the University, arguing that they violated his free speech rights. Seven years and several appeals later, he won. Although UNCW denied that Adams's faith had any role in their decision -- the jury disagreed. "[N]o individual," the Fourth Circuit had ruled, "loses his ability to speak as a private citizen by virtue of public employment."

Although the school finally agreed to promote Adams, his attorneys at Alliance Defending Freedom just announced more good news: UNCW will not only be paying him $50,000 in back salary but $615,000 in attorneys' fees. For liberals, who knows the real chilling effect for conservatives is the cost of litigation, this is a major victory.

And the celebrations don't stop there. Former FRC policy analyst Teresa Wagner had reason to cheer in her own fight against ideological discrimination. After being turned down for a job at the University of Iowa Law School because of her political views, Wagner sued in 2009. A federal judge dismissed the case after a jury deadlocked-a decision the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals called premature. This week, it agreed to give Teresa a new trial. Let's hope it's more impartial than the IU's hiring policy! (Source: Family Research Council)

Mount Fuji Is In A 'Critical State' And Could Be Ready To Blow,
Researchers Say

Mount Fuji is primed to spew.

After 307 years, the massive active volcano in Japan may be due for another eruption as a result of a buildup of pressure from the 9.0-magnitude earthquake that hit the country's eastern coast in 2011. While volcano eruptions may often be difficult to predict, a new study published by a team of French and Japanese researchers indicates that Mount Fuji is in a particularly precarious state.

"Our work does not say that the volcano will start erupting, but it does show that it's in a critical state," lead author Florent Brenguier, a researcher at the Institute of Earth Sciences in France, told The Guardian.

The team analyzed data from more than 800 seismic sensors in Japan in order to observe how volcanos react to seismic waves, which are generated by impulses such as earthquakes or explosions. By pinpointing how these waves of energy affect volcanos, researchers should be better equipped to evaluate the risk of volcanic eruptions and may even be able to help predict an eruption.

The team scrutinized "seismic noise" to build something similar to an ultrasound of the Earth's crust. What they found is that the regions with the greatest disruptions were not situated near the epicenters of earthquakes, but were instead concentrated beneath volcanic regions, particularly Mount Fuji. "And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."

"All of Israel is Crying"

All of Israel is Crying

by James Nesbit

The song "All of Israel is Crying" was birthed in Jerusalem late in the evening on April 10, 2010. While in a debriefing meeting from after a week of praying through Israel, a team member with tears in his eyes said, "We have prayed throughout this nation, and everywhere we go there is a cry rising from the people: 'Help us! Pray for us!' "We began to sing the words he had just spoken, and a song was born.

When we returned to the US, the song kept growing in my heart. So here it is - the sound of our hearts married to the light released through prophetic imagery. Our hearts' cry has been that this short piece of art would touch you, release a fountain of prayer for Israel throughout the earth and for Rev. 1:7 to fully manifest in this hour.
May all of Israel be filled with the light of the glorious gospel. From our hearts to yours . . .

James Nesbit

ISRAEL HAS ONE HOPE. PRAY THAT SHE CRIES OUT TO HER GOD, AND THEN RECEIVES HIS EMBRACE.

ABOUT CAPITOL HILL PRAYER PARTNERS

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven" [Matthew 6:10].

Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]

Today's Birthdays

Today's Birthdays on the Hill

Almost every day of the year, a member of Congress or a Senator is celebrating a birthday. Let's lift up these men and women, day by day in prayer on their special day, that God might bless them and show them His love for each one. Indeed, let's move together in obedience to the Lord's mandate in I Timothy 2:1-4. It is written:
"I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people - for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth."

Today's Birthday Greetings go to:

Sen. John Barrasso (WY)

Rep. James E. Clyburn (SC)

Rep. John J. Duncan Jr. (TN)

Rep. Mick Mulvaney (SC)

Rep. Phil Roe (TN)

Pray for the Harvest!

Pray for the Harvest!

"Do you not say, 'Four months more and then the harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest." (John 4:35)

Every day, in every nation on earth, tens of thousands of men and women are making decisions for Christ. Now, you can monitor this amazing fact online by literally "watching" as these souls are born again into the Kingdom.

Of course, the identities of those who are coming to the Lord are never revealed, but our God knows who they are!

Join us as we monitor these "names" daily, praying over each one to be mentored and to grow in his or her faith . . . even in these perilous times. You may visit either or both of the sites below, to pray for fields that are ripe for harvest.
