The Daily Brief:

"Praying for All in Authority"

"Great is Thy faithfulness . . ." (Lamentations 3:23)

The Daily Brief

1. Obama administration: Russia firing artillery at Ukraine military targets - Fox News

Obama administration officials said Thursday that Russia is firing artillery from its own territory into Ukraine to hit Ukrainian military sites, pointing to escalating Russian involvement in the deadly conflict. State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf also claimed Moscow is boosting its military shipments to pro-Russian separatists. "We have new evidence that the Russians intend to deliver heavier and more powerful multiple rocket launchers to separatist forces in Ukraine and have evidence that Russia is firing artillery from within Russian to attack Ukrainian military positions," Harf told reporters.

She said the evidence derived from "human intelligence information" but declined to elaborate, saying it would compromise sources and methods of intelligence collection. (Read more)

- On the anniversary weekend of the outbreak of World War I, ask our Lord to defuse the tension between these two nations, so that hostile emotions will come under the control of the Holy Spirit. Thank our Lord that He can make a way to bring peace to this troubled border, if we but ask Him and trust Him to do so. In His Name, amen.

2. Ukrainian Prime Minister Yatsenyuk announces resignation - Fox News

KIEV, Ukraine - Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk announced his resignation Thursday, opening the way for new elections that would reflect the country's starkly changed political scene after the ouster of pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovych in February.

Yatsenyuk, a supporter of closer ties with Europe and a key participant in the protests that toppled Yanukovych, made the announcement from the dais of Parliament after two parties said they would pull out of the governing coalition. He said Parliament could no longer do its work and pass necessary laws. http://www.foxnews.com/world/2014/07/24/ukrainian-prime-minister-yatsenyuk-to-resign/

- Ask the God of all Peace to bring His Shalom to bear upon this troubled nation. May His Kingdom government reign where man's government seems to be failing.

- "Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven." (Matthew 12:10)

3. Operation Protective Edge Enters 17th Day; Three IDF soldiers killed, 35 Terror Targets Hit - Worthy News

Israel Defense Forces (IDF) killed 15 terrorists and took at least 150 terror suspects as prisoner in the Gaza Strip last night. The IDF death toll was raised to 32 as three IDF soldiers were killed overnight. A major tunnel network was discovered on Wednesday that contained maps and weapons for an imminent attack. Israel has discovered 31 tunnels so far, but has only destroyed nine saying it needs more time to dismantle the underground network. (Read more)

Update: Israel finds additional, sophisticated tunnels underneath Gaza Strip - Fox News

ISRAELI INTELLIGENCE OFFICIALS are learning that there are more tunnels underneath Gaza than initially thought, and some - constructed using concrete blocks and with electricity feeds and sewage channels - suggest that they are designed for terrorists to remain inside for long periods of time. - O, LORD OF HOSTS, the Great I AM, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, we come humbly before You on behalf of Your Land of Israel, and Your people. We thank You for Your faithfulness to Your everlasting Covenant. Thank You, that in response to the prayers of Your sons and daughters, You are revealing the secret things that the enemy wishes to keep hidden. We thank You for Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and we ask for Your impartation of "Divine Strategies", Your wisdom, Your timing, and Your results. We know that Your Word says that You can deliver whether by many, or by few; and that the battle is the Lord's.

Protect Mr. Netanyahu, and his family, and the Israeli Defense Forces, and encourage and comfort them all, we pray. Especially protect and comfort the children and the elderly that must run into shelters. May they sense Your strong presence with them, and Your arms of love engulfing them, May they call unto You, and You will save them, redeem them, and snatch them from the fires! We praise Your Awesomeness, and Your great Love, Amen.

- "The LORD says, 'Whoever loves Me, I will save. I will protect those who know Me. They will call to Me, and I will answer them. I will be with them in trouble; I will rescue them and honor them. I will give them a long, full life, and they will see how I can save.'" (Psalm 91:14-16)

4. Iran Could Achieve Nuclear 'Breakout' in Two Months - Free Beacon

Iran could still produce enough nuclear material to fuel a bomb in as little as two months, a time frame that has not been prolonged under the recently struck agreement to extend nuclear talks through November, the Washington Free Beacon reported. (Read more)

We ask Your protection over all those who name Your Name, especially in Iraq and Syria, and throughout the Mid-east. Strengthen and comfort Your people, we pray. Give them courage, wisdom, and creative ways to deal with their circumstances and still bring glory to You, we pray. Amen.

- "He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand]. I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I [confidently] trust! Only a spectator shall you be [yourself inaccessible in the secret place of the Most High] as you witness the reward of the wicked." (Psalm 91:1,2,8)

5. Islamic State Destroys 1,800-Year-Old Church - Worthy News

Members of the militant Islamic State in Iraq and Syria torched an 1,800 year-old Catholic Church in Mosul as Christians fled for fear of their lives, according to the Christian Post. (Read more)

6. Meriam and Her Family Are Free - They Have All Arrived in Italy - Family Research Council

Research Council (FRC) President Tony Perkins expressed deep gratitude and relief early this morning after learning that Meriam Ibrahim and her family arrived in Italy. "We celebrate Meriam Ibrahim and her family's escape to freedom. It is our hope and prayer that Meriam and her family will now enjoy the liberty to practice their Christian faith without government interference or persecution.

"Meriam's bold stand for Jesus Christ as she faced death is both an inspiration for Christians to be courageous, but also a reminder of the vigilance required to preserve and promote not just our First Freedom as Americans, but basic human right of the freedom of religion. (Read more)

- Father, we rejoice with those who rejoice, and praise You for this answer to so many prayers. You are good, and You show Yourself strong on behalf of Your children. We thank You for giving our Sister, Meriam, the courage, and unshakeable faith to stand for You, even in the face of death. Thank You that her parents have dropped their legal action against her. Truly, You have "blotted out the handwriting of ordinances" against her, and nailed them to Your cross! Praise be to the only true and living God!! Amen.

- "Therefore, everyone who acknowledges Me before men and confess Me [out of a state of oneness with Me], I will also acknowledge him before My Father, Who is in heaven and confess [that I am abiding in] him.""Thus shall he who conquers (is victorious) be clad in white garments and I will not erase or blot out his name from the Book of Life; I will acknowledge him [as Mine] and I will confess his name openly before My Father and before His angels." (Matthew 10:32; Revelation 3:5)

7. GAO: Almost All Fake Obamacare Insurance Applications Approved - National Journal

A government report from the nonpartisan Government Accountability Office showed a majority of fake Obamacare applications submitted during a undercover operation were approved by the health care system. (Read more)

- Abba, this is just further proof of the inefficiency and unreliability of governmental agencies intruding into our private lives. Interestingly, "Accountability" is the "A" of GAO, and yet they themselves seem to be "accountable" to no one. This is reminiscent of the lack of federal screening of airports prior to 9/11. We ask, Lord, for people to be put into positions of responsibility who are adept at what they do, and have a heart that will serve diligently. May guidelines be tightened and clarified, and workers be trained properly how to deal with these applications; and may they do so according to their job description, we pray. Thank You, Lord, Amen.

- "God is fair; He will not forget the work you did and the love you showed for Him by helping His people. And He will remember that you are still helping them. We want each of you to go on with the same diligence all your lives so you will surely get what you hope for. We do not want you to become lazy. Be like those who through faith and patience will receive what God has promised." (Hebrews 6:10-12)

8. ObamaCare getaway: 5 US territories released from health care law - Fox News

The Obama administration is coming under fire for once again making a unilateral change to ObamaCare -- this time, quietly exempting the five U.S. territories and their more than 4 million residents from virtually all major provisions of the health care law.

The about-face has some questioning the department's authority to suddenly grant 4.1 million Americans an out from ObamaCare. It follows a cascade of prior unilateral actions delaying and nixing parts of the law for certain groups -- actions which in part prompted House Republicans to launch a lawsuit against President Obama challenging his use of executive power. The decision covers residents in Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa and the Northern Mariana Islands. (Read more)

- Lord, hear our prayer for mercy from Your people regarding our "renegade president", who fancies himself as a dictator, rather than a servant of the people who elected him to that office. Apparently, he thinks himself more wise than the rest of government, including all of Congress, and the Judicial branch as well. We ask You, Lord, in Your mercy to stop him from taking away all our freedoms, that men of God covenanted with You, at the founding of our great nation. We ask that this wrong "unilateral" decision by this man be challenged legally and overturned. Very few people in this nation want mandated health insurance, and we would all like to be exempted as well. We ask that men and women of integrity in our Congress and Judicial branches would enact laws to protect us from these "maverick" decisions, we pray. Amen.

- "And we earnestly beseech you, brethren, admonish (warn and seriously advise) those who are out of line [the loafers, the disorderly, and the unruly]; encourage the timid and fainthearted, help and give your support to the weak souls, be very patient with everybody [always keeping your temper]. See that none of you repays another with evil for evil, but always aim to show kindness and seek to do good to one another and to everybody." (I Thessalonians 5:13-15)

9. Panel approves Boehner lawsuit - The Hill

The House Rules Committee on Thursday approved a resolution that would authorize Speaker John Boehner's (R-Ohio) lawsuit against President Obama over his use of executive power.

The panel voted along party lines to move forward with legal against Obama over his delay of the the healthcare law's employer mandate, which Republicans say was outside his powers as president. The House is expected to approve the lawsuit before lawmakers leave town next week for a five-week summer recess. (Read more)

- Father, we thank You that this congressional panel has approved this move by the Speaker of the House. We thank You, too, that as Speaker Boehner seeks You for guidance in this matter, You will be with him. In Jesus' Name, amen!

- "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you." (Psalm 32:8)

10. Five immigration issues Central American leaders will raise with Obama

Amid the U.S-Mexico border crisis, the presidents of El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala meet with Obama and other leaders this week in Washington.

President Obama will sit down Friday with the presidents of Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala - the three countries that have been the greatest source of children illegally crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.

In addition to their meeting with Mr. Obama, the leaders are visiting Capitol Hill and are taking part in a panel discussion - and they're armed with a laundry list of issues to discuss with U.S. leaders. (Read more) Note: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

- Lift up a prayer today as the president meets with the presidents of these three Central American nations. May the results of this meeting align with the plans and the purposes of our Lord for all of our people, and may this immigration crisis be resolved quickly. In Jesus' Name, amen.

- "Pray . . . for all in authority . . ." (I TIm. 2:1-4)

The Middle East in Focus

OPERATION PROTECTIVE EDGE

This week, for all the headlines cited below, please join us in proclaiming THIS DECREE:

"Hear, O Israel, you are approaching the battle against your enemies today. Do not be fainthearted. Do not be afraid, or panic, or tremble before them, for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you." (Deuteronomy 20:3,4)

1. A UN SCHOOL IN BEIT HANOUN CLAIMS THAT THE IDF SHELLED IT, KILLING 15 PEOPLE AND INJURING 200.

The IDF is investigating the action to be sure that this wasn't misdirected fire from them, but rather from Hamas terrorists that began launching attacks against them, while some IDF troops were on hand watching the evacuation . . . waiting to hit the school until it was clear. Suspicion is that the fire came from Hamas, but Israel is going to be examining the site films and satellite evidence to see where it came from. A retrieved fragment from the shell would quickly tell who fired it. The school was slated for destruction, due to the quantity of armaments contained under it, and due to the fact that Hamas has been launching rockets into Israel from that site.

- Pray that the truth about this tragedy will be make known quickly. Pray for clear-cut evidence to present itself.

2. Removing tunnel threat not a matter of days - Israel National News

The Gaza Division's southern brigade is at the forefront of the fighting in Gaza. And Hacohen, like his soldiers, has no intention of going anywhere before completing his main mission - destroying the terror tunnels.

And it's neither a simple mission, nor a short one. If anyone in the political echelon wants to reach a ceasefire under any condition, they should go ahead and do that. It's legitimate. But let us make no mistake: The tunnel threat cannot be removed any time soon. Whoever says that is misleading the residents of southern Israel and all of Israel's citizens.

3. US official: Kerry won't remain in region indefinitely - Israel National News

US Secretary of State John Kerry will not stay in the Middle East indefinitely trying to broker a ceasefire to halt the Gaza conflict and will decide soon whether the parties are willing to come to an agreement, a senior US official said on Thursday.

Secretary Kerry will stay in Egypt through at least tomorrow morning to continue working on achieving a ceasefire," the US official said, adding he had spoken by telephone in the last 24 hours with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and with the foreign ministers of Britain, Egypt, France, Germany, Jordan, Norway, Turkey and Ukraine. 4. Israel surprised by number, sophistication of Gaza tunnels - Fox News

Pictures released by the Israel Defense Forces show tunnels, some primitive and others sophisticated enough to include walls and ladders, running under the border from the Hamas-controlled district before they were intentionally destroyed. More than 60 access shafts leading to 28 tunnels have been uncovered since Israel's ground operation -- dubbed Operation Protective Edge -- began on July 8. (Read more)

5. Egypt army prevents 2 attacks on Israel near border - IMRA.org

Egyptian military sources said that Egyptian troops killed a "suicide bomber" who tried to approach the Israeli border near Kerem Shalom military base on the border on Wednesday night. The sources told Ma'an that the army also destroyed a vehicle loaded with Grad missiles shortly before they were launched towards Israeli territory. (Read more)

6. Hezbollah Talks Big but Bows Out of the Gaza War - The Daily Beast

Hezbollah boss Hassan Nasrallah made a phone call to Hamas chief Khaled Mashaal on Monday and vowed to support "the resistance in Gaza in any way necessary." Then Nasrallah, whose fame has spread far and wide over the years as the head of the Iranian-backed Lebanese "Party of God," called Palestinians Islamic Jihad leader Ramadan Salah to talk about maintaining close diplomatic ties in the fight against Israel. But here's the real message from Nasrallah: Hamas, you're on your own. (The Daily Beast)

7. Jihadi cleric calls for Muslim fighters to join the fighting in Gaza - Jerusalem Post

A new jihadi media outlet called Al-Fawaris released a video calling on Gazans to endure the military operation, saying that victory looms and that Muslims all over the world support them. According to MEMRI (Middle East Media Research Institute) Jihad and Terrorism Threat Monitor, the video also features jihadi cleric Abu hareth Al-Maqdisi threatening Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, saying his demise is coming soon. 8. Outcry after MP tweets he would fire rockets at Israel - Yahoo.com

A British MP was criticised Wednesday for tweeting that he would fire rockets at Israel if he lived in the Gaza Strip. "The big question is - if I lived in Gaza would I fire a rocket? - probably yes," Liberal Democrat member of parliament David Ward tweeted. (Read more)

9. Derek Prince: How to Pray for Israel - CHPP

The following is from Derek's message 4366 "How To Pray for Israel" which is the last message in the "Israel: Past, Present & Future" audio/video series.

"I'm trusting that you and others who eventually receive this message will be prompted by the Holy Spirit to pray for Israel. I'm going to give you eleven suggestions to make prayer for Israel effective in your life and ministry. I'm not suggesting that you could go through all of these in one prayer session, they're different aspects of approaching prayer for Israel. They are all based on personal experience and observation." So here we are:

Number one, stay within the parameters of God's word.
Number two, enter with thanksgiving and praise.
Number three, whether Jews or Gentiles, confess your appropriate sins against the other.
Number four, identify with God's ultimate purpose: a people for Himself.
Number five, only by God's Spirit.
Number six, plead for mercy and favor in this set time.
Number seven, pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
Number eight, bless Israel and be blessed.
Number nine, don't tell God what to do.
Number ten, pray for the harvest of the Gentiles.
And number eleven, take the sword of the Spirit-proclaim.

10. OUR NEW ISRAELI PRESIDENT HAS BEEN SWORN IN - Israeli Sources

Today the baton was passed from Shimon Pere to Reuven Rivlin. Rivlin is the 10th Israeli president, and an 8th generation Jerusalemite. His family came to Israel in 1807, at the request of their rabbi. The purpose in their coming was so that would be on hand to greet the Messiah when He comes. That sounds like a great heritage for one, who is now the President of Israel during this season of the earth.

An interesting couple of things to note is that: during the swearing-in ceremony, 8 air raid sirens announced attacks somewhere in Israel. Number 8 in Hebrew signifies a new beginning. After the color guard blew some trumpets to declare the establishment of the new president, shofars were also blown. That is prophetic. The shofar represents the voice of the Lord. It is also can be a call to advance. Eight rockets, missed targets, and the voice of the Lord goes out with the affirmation of an 8th generation Israeli from Jerusalem to come into an international statesman position. I think that set of circumstances is giving us a message saying that a new beginning for Israel has now begun.

- Pray for President Rivlin to prosper in all ways. Pray protection over him.

OPERATION NORMANDY:

Praying over the invasion of illegal immigrants on our southern border

This week please join us in proclaiming THIS DECREE over the headlines below:

"As soon as they hear, they obey me;
Foreigners submit to me.
Foreigners fade away,
And come trembling out of their fortresses."
(Psalm 18:44,45)

1. GOP bill sends Guard to border - The Hill

House Republicans will deploy the National Guard to the border, change trafficking laws to more quickly process Central American children and beef up judicial and law enforcement resources in legislation to tackle the surge of child immigrants entering the United States.

House Republicans are putting the finishing touches on a $1.5 billion border bill that is fully offset by cuts elsewhere in the budget. The amount is less than half of the $3.7 billion that President Obama requested.

Rep. Kay Granger (R-Texas), who led the GOP working group developing the party's plan, billed her team's recommendations as common-sense, compassionate, but tough during a presentation to the entire House Republican conference Wednesday. Her recommendations set up a scramble to pass an emergency funding measure for the border before Congress breaks for a month-long August recess at the end of next week. (Read more)

2. Reuters: Obama sends team to Texas to assess need for National Guard deployment - Reuters

President Barack Obama has sent a team to Texas to assess whether a U.S. National Guard deployment would help to handle an immigration crisis at the Mexican border, White House officials told Reuters on Wednesday, having so far resisted Republican calls for such a move. The team, made up of officials from the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security, departed on Tuesday and will be on the ground through Thursday. (Read more)

3. Rick Perry Slams Critics' Claims He's 'Militarizing' Border - Newsmax

Texas Gov. Rick Perry has fired back at a Democratic congressman who said that Perry was "militarizing" the border by sending 1,000 National Guards troops to south Texas.

The Republican governor sent a scathing letter to Rep. Joaquin Castro, saying that he had misunderstood the role that the troops would play on the border in preventing crimes being committed by illegal immigrants, the Houston Chronicle reported.

"I recently read your remarks in the press regarding my decision to send up to 1,000 members of the Texas National Guard to enhance border security efforts currently underway along the Texas-Mexico border," Perry wrote. "Your comments indicated a basic misunderstanding about the very positive role the Guard will play in tackling the border security crisis." (Read more)

4. Rubio: No Immigration Reform Until Obama Deals With Border - Newsmax

The influx of illegal immigrants across the southern United States border has effectively eliminated the possibility of passing any type of immigration reform in Congress until the issue of border security is addressed, said Sen. Marco Rubio.

In an exclusive interview with Newsmax TV, the Florida Republican told "America's Forum" host J.D. Hayworth the difficulties he faced as a member of the Senate's Gang of Eight, which authored the immigration reform legislation passed in the chamber last June.

He said he consistently fought for stricter security measures as a condition for the bill, but was repeatedly overruled and accused of trying to derail the bipartisan effort.

He added that on a number of occasions he was told that the legislation would not progress in the House if the bill did not include stricter border security enforcement measures, and believes that those predictions have come to fruition with the House refusing to add it to the political agenda this year. 6. Obama administration weighs giving Honduran children refugee status - CBS News

The tactic is viewed as one way to slow the flow of unaccompanied children crossing the southern border.

- Lord God, we understand that, should these immigratnts be designated as "refugees," the U.N. is ready to come in and exert their own control over our border. We ask that this plan and scheme fail, under Your Mighty Hand. We ask this in Jesus' Name, amen.

- "Devise a plan, but it will be thwarted; State a proposal, but it will not stand, For God is with us." (Isaiah 8:10)

The Daily Jot

Foreign policy blunders with prophetic implications

Observing the current foreign policy of the "president", another president comes to memory whose foreign policy was instrumental in propping up Islam and advancing terrorism to its modern levels. Jimmy Carter played a role in deposing the Shah of Iran and assisting in the "democratic" installation of the Ayatollah governments. Even so, Carter paid a price for granting the Shah diplomatic immunity with a hostage crisis at the US Embassy in Tehran that paralyzed his already inept presidency for 444 days. In reality, this birthed the modern Islamic advance, spreading terrorism worldwide. It was further emboldened under Bill Clinton, and put on fast track with the current "president."

Carter was also instrumental in the gradual elevating of a third rate thug and plane hijacking terrorist to diplomatic status in Yassir Arafat--the head of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO). The PLO was an Islamic- and Soviet-backed terror organization whose mission was to drive Israel into the sea. Carter brokered a failed peace agreement called the Camp David Accords. This agreement was between Israel and Egypt and served as a framework to deal with the so-called Palestinian territories and established the concept of land for peace. Years later in 1990, Carter met with Arafat and described him as a leader who did everything he could "to promote the peace process."
Certainly, Bill Clinton saw Arafat as a peace partner. A May 3, 1996 article in the Baltimore Sun reported: "MANY AMERICANS have difficulty accepting Yasser Arafat, president of the Palestinian Authority, as a member of civil society, much less an honored guest at the White House. This is the rogue terrorist who packed a gun at the United Nations, the world revolutionary and would-be destroyer of Israel. But there he was, Wednesday, neatly groomed beneath his trademark headscarf, polite and smiling, greeted by President Clinton with the most decorous courtesy." It was widely reported that Arafat became the most frequent foreign guest at the Clinton White House.

The current "president" has far outpaced the ill-fated foreign policy of his Democratic predecessors. He has overseen the building up of Islam as a seemingly step by step strategy, making up for Carter's incompetency and Clinton's poor judgment. This "president" encouraged and funded the Arab Spring, trained members of the current Islamic State that his taking over parts of Syria and Iraq, and persecuting Christians, and he has supported Islam at the expense of traditional ally Israel almost exclusively. The handiwork of these three presidents has deep prophetic implications.

Their policies may have accelerated the prophetic revival of an end time Caliphate--Islamic states that come against Israel--Ezekiel 38:2-13: Meshech (Turkey); Tubal (Turkey); Persia (Iran); Ethiopia (Sudan); Libya (Libya), Gomer (Turkey), Togarmah (Turkey); Sheba (Saudi Arabia); Dedan (Saudi Arabia): "To take a spoil, and to take a prey." Speaking of Gog, the antichrist, verse 17 says, "Thus says the Lord God; Art you he of whom I have spoken in old time by my servants the prophets of Israel, which prophesied in those days many years that I would bring thee against them?" Whether strategic or stupid, these three presidents used America to strengthen Israel's enemies and perhaps advance the prophecy clock.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Speed Up, Slow Down, Do Nothing

Speed Up, Slow Down, Do Nothing

If you want a good example of the difference between the two parties, look no further than the dueling prescriptions for dealing with the current crisis at our southern border.

House Republicans released a list of recommendations yesterday largely focused on border security. Among their recommendations: Deployment of the National Guard, "aggressive messaging campaigns in originating countries and the U.S. to dispel immigration myths" (refuting Obama's rhetoric about "Dreamers") and speeding up hearings and deportations to days and weeks rather than months, years or never. They are proposing to spend $1.5 billion, offset with spending cuts.

Senate Democrats offered a $2.7 billion bill with no policy changes that would allow for faster deportations. The Wall Street Journal notes that the Senate bill includes more than three times the amount of money to pay for lawyers for unaccompanied minors than the Obama White House requested.

Meanwhile, Barack Obama is promising members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus that he will do everything he can to slow down or stop deportations of illegal immigrants.

So there you have it. House Republicans want to secure the border and enforce the law, while Obama and Senate Democrats want to bend the law and spend your tax dollars on lawyers for illegal immigrants.

Given the huge differences that exist between the House and Senate bills, and the feeling among many conservatives that no matter what they do Obama simply cannot be trusted, the most likely outcome seems to be that Congress will do nothing anytime soon to address the mess Obama created. IRS Looks to Pulpits for Culprits

IRS Looks to Pulpits for Culprits

Since 2008, thousands of pastors across America have annually observed "Pulpit Freedom Sunday," an initiative of the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) that challenges the IRS's rules on what churches can and can't say about elections. The project actually got its start at an FRC pastors conference in 2008. For this year's event, I am serving as the national chairman.

ADF urges pastors to boldly preach God's Word as it applies to public policy and politics without fear of the IRS. Since 1954, America's pulpits have been effectively muzzled by unconstitutional IRS code. This is why for the last six years ADF has hoped that a test case would develop that it can use to challenge the IRS -- even going so far as mailing the IRS recorded sermons.
The IRS has yet to provide a test case, but that may be about to change. Following a lawsuit filed by the Freedom from Religion Foundation, the IRS has agreed to begin monitoring churches for violating its policy on pulpit speech. Erik Stanley, ADF's senior legal counsel, in response to the IRS announcement, told LifeSiteNews that "the IRS has no business censoring what a pastor preaches from the pulpit." Erik sees this as a great opportunity to "bring the era of IRS censorship and intimidation to an end." "No one would suggest a pastor give up his church's tax-exempt status if he wants to keep his constitutional protection against illegal search and seizure or cruel and unusual punishment," he added.
It's an honor to partner with ADF in standing up for the free speech rights of our nation's clergy, and putting an end to this cultural of intimidation. The latest polling shows that more than two-thirds of Americans believe our country is on the wrong track. The reality is that the problems we face in our nation are not just political and cultural, they are spiritual in nature (Eph. 6:10-13). Consequently, these problems ultimately require a spiritual solution administered by spiritual leadership. That is why we are championing pastors to transform America. This year's Pulpit Freedom Sunday will be held on Oct. 5. Please click here for more information. (Family Research Council)

Iran's "Final Solution"

Iran's "Final Solution" -- Destroy Israel

I wrote yesterday that the fight taking place right now between Israel and Hamas is a fight between good and evil. As Winston Churchill once said, "I decline utterly to be impartial as between the fire brigade and the fire." Why are we, as the Washington Post reports, putting direct pressure on our ally Israel to stop fighting evil?

Hamas does not want peace with Israel. It is refusing to negotiate or accept any ceasefire agreements. And why should it? All of the pressure is on Israel.

You won't see stories about the Obama Administration putting pressure on Hamas or news reports about the Obama White House threatening to cut off foreign aid -- your hard-earned tax dollars -- to the Palestinian Authority. You won't see those stories because Obama isn't pressuring Hamas; he is pressuring Israel.

Land will not satisfy the Islamists' bloodlust. Israel gave up Gaza, and look what Hamas has done to it -- filled it with rockets and "terror tunnels."

Hamas and its Islamofascist allies have one objective -- to destroy the Jewish state. Discussing the current conflict in Gaza before an audience of students, Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, said:

"The only solution is to destroy this regime. What is the solution until this regime is destroyed? Allah willing, the day will come when this regime is destroyed. So long as this false regime is on its feet -- what is the solution? The solution is total armed resistance against this regime. This is the solution." (Gary Bauer)

Georgia County Church Sees Victory in 'Zoning Code' Case

A Georgia County has revised a zoning policy that forced a church congregation to temporarily hold its services in the basement of a jewelry store. As part of the settlement, the county has agreed to pay several thousand dollars to the church in damages and attorneys' fees.

In June 2012, a Christian legal group filed suit against Rockdale County for refusing New Generation Christian Church access to different properties to hold worship services. The zoning code prohibits churches from meeting on property of less than three acres in any zoning district.

"Government officials shouldn't use zoning restrictions to discriminate against small, start-up churches that want to minister to communities in need," said Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) Senior Legal Counsel Erik Stanley. "There's no legitimate reason to require churches to have a minimum of three acres of property."

This zoning restriction did not apply to other groups including sports centers, day care center, libraries or performing arts centers.

Before filing the suit, the church requested permission to rent the vacant property it initially occupied. The county rejected the request because of the zoning restrictions. The congregation began meeting in the basement of a jewelry store.

"Small churches have the same constitutional freedoms as non-religious groups and larger, wealthy churches," said ADF Senior Counsel Kevin Theriot. "Zoning regulations shouldn't force small churches to go underground simply because they can't afford property of more than three acres."

In the complaint, New Generation said the zoning code violated its free exercise of religious guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution. It also said the code violated the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act. The law protects churches and other faith groups from discriminatory zoning laws.

"Federal law prohibits saddling churches with these kinds of unjustifiable, targeted zoning restrictions," Stanley explained. "We commend the county for changing its regulations so that small ministries can afford properties appropriate for their size."

Why Is Wal-Mart Preparing For A Major Earthquake
On The New Madrid Fault?

Buried in a Wall Street Journal article from about a week ago was a startling piece of information. According to a Wal-Mart executive, New-Madrid-Fault-Zone-300x300Wal-Mart "participated in an exercise to prepare for an earthquake on the New Madrid fault line" earlier this summer.

And officials at the U.S. Geological Survey have just released a report which indicates that they believe that the New Madrid fault zone has the "potential for larger and more powerful quakes than previously thought".

So should we be concerned? Do they know something that we don't?

If you are not familiar with it, the New Madrid fault zone covers parts of Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee and Mississippi. If an earthquake similar to the quakes of 1811 and 1812 were to happen today, it would destroy structures all the way up to the Great Lakes and all the way down to the Gulf of Mexico.

That is why it is so alarming that Wal-Mart is actively preparing for a major earthquake along the New Madrid Fault. The following is from the Wall Street Journal article that I mentioned above . . .

Walmart Stores Inc., with its huge network of stores and facilities, has also taken note. "We are seeing increased earthquake activity in the central U.S. That is an area we are focusing on even more," said Mark Cooper, senior director of emergency management at Walmart, in an interview. He explained that Walmart takes an "all-hazard" approach to emergency preparedness, but focuses on specific risks in areas of the country where those risks are particularly relevant, such as hurricanes in Louisiana. "A few weeks ago, we participated in an exercise to prepare for an earthquake on the New Madrid fault line," he said. (Right Side News) Read more.

"And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."
