The Daily Brief

1. Record Number of Americans Not in Labor Force in June - CNSNews.com

The number of Americans 16 and older who did not participate in the labor force climbed to a record high of 92,120,000 in June, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). This means that there were 92,120,000 Americans 16 and older who not only did not have a job, but did not actively seek one in the last four weeks. That is up 111,000 from the 92,009,000 Americans who were not participating in the labor force in April. In June, according to BLS, the labor force participation rate for Americans was 62.8 percent, matching a 36-year low. The participation rate is the percentage of the population that either has a job or actively sought one in the last four weeks. While the number of Americans not in the labor force increased, the unemployment rate dropped -- from 6.3 percent in April to 6.1 percent in June. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, the dignity needed by human beings of having a job and work to do is being stripped from so many in the US now.  It appears that the lack of jobs is deliberately being created to bring this nation down and to damage the people who live here.  Have mercy, Father, and confront those leaders who are not responding to this issue.  We ask in the Name of Jesus, Amen and Amen.

- "For the Lord will not forsake His people, for His great name's sake, because it has pleased the Lord to make you His people." (1 Samuel 12:22)

2. Michelle Obama fights GOP on school lunch rules - TownHall.com

Mrs. Obama lobbied largely behind the scenes four years ago for the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010, which requires more fruit, vegetables and whole grains in school meals, along with less sodium, sugar and fat. It was a major achievement, the first update to school lunch rules in decades designed to make school meals more nutritious. The School Nutrition Association, an industry-backed group that represents school cafeteria workers and originally supported the standards, has now turned against them. The association says it fully supports getting kids to eat healthier but says many districts are losing money because students aren't buying the healthier lunches.

"As well-intended as the people in Washington believe themselves to be, the reality is that from a practical standpoint these regulations are just plain not working out in some individual school districts," he said after a House panel approved the bill. A vote by the full House is expected after its July Fourth break. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, healthy food with sufficient vegetables and fruit in the meal, may be a great theory but one cannot just mandate people to eat in a certain manner.  Father, from my experiences as a teacher who ate with my students, they would rather eat nothing if it is not what they want, except for the few that  this food was the only meal they got for the day.  As the article reports, tremendous cost is incurred and food is not eaten but discarded. Many school systems cannot afford the cost if it is not being bought and eaten. We ask You to be in the midst of this confrontation between governmental mandate and functioning reality.  In Jesus' Name we pray, Amen and Amen. [Submitted by Karen H., today's prayer editor]

- "The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good." (Proverbs 15:3)

3. Congress to tour children's immigration detention center, ahead of Obama's planned $2B request - Fox News

MEMBERS OF CONGRESS are to visit a Texas immigration detention center amid growing concerns about facilities housing the recent surge of children who have illegally crossed the border, ahead of President Obama's expected request for $2B to deal with the crisis. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, we ask Your presence to accompany the members of Congress who will be visiting some of the immigrant detention centers, so the actual circumstances can be observed before any monetary decisions are made by Congress.  It has been reported that observers or any outsiders have been blocked from seeing what is happening, and internal workers are threatened if they report what is happening.  Rise up Father and let the truth come forth, in Jesus' Name we pray, Amen and Amen.

- "A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who speaks lies will not escape."  (Proverbs 19:5)

4. Protesters gather, await arrival of undocumented immigrants in California - Reuters

Immigration demonstrations intensified in a southern California town on Friday as protesters filled a desolate road to a U.S. Customs and Border Station to await the arrival of undocumented Central American families for processing.

Protesters on both sides of the immigration issue flocked to Murrieta, California, where police said some 140 undocumented families were expected on buses from Texas.

Immigrant families are fleeing strife-torn Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras across the U.S.-Mexico border by the thousands via human smuggling rings. Most of the immigrants have shown up in Texas, overwhelming detention and processing facilities and leading U.S. immigration authorities to set up overflow sites in California to help screen and manage the influx. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, the people in this southern California town again turned back the buses of illegal immigrants attempting to move into their town.  There appears to be some wicked, dark reasons why this influx is being allowed to happen and we need You, Father, to raise up Your right hand and extend Your arm against this evil from happening.  Expose what is happening and why, as it jeopardizes the children which are used as tools for this wickedness, and the towns with their people being overwhelmed by these influxes of illegal immigrants.  We ask this prayer in the Name of Jesus, Amen and Amen.

- "Give us help from trouble, for the help of man is useless. Through God we will do valiantly, for it is He who shall tread down our enemies." (Psalm 108:12-13)

5. Krauthammer: 'If Fences Don't Work, Why Is There One Around The White House?' - TownHall.com

The illegal immigration problem at the Southwest border is worse than it has ever been-tens of thousands of unaccompanied minors are coming into the U.S. at unprecedented rates. Border Patrol is overwhelmed and lacking adequate resources to handle the influx, and the administration's proposed solutions to stem the tide are underwhelming to say the least.

But the illegal immigration problem isn't new, of course. For the past several years we've been working on ways to fix the problem. The Senate passed a sweeping immigration reform bill last year, and now, Democrats, including Obama, are warning House Republicans that if they don't act soon, the president will act unilaterally.

Fox News' Bill O'Reilly had Charles Krauthammer on the show this week to discuss immigration reform, and when asked how he would secure the border, Krauthammer had a simple solution: a fence. Alright, here's what I've been on for years. You start with a fence. It's very simple. People say, 'Oh, fences don't work. You make a ladder.' Well, then you build two fences, triple strand fences. San Diego did that in the mid 90's and within a decade, the illegal immigration rate at that point was reduced by 90% and people ended up going through other places like Arizona. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, Charles Krauthammer is pointing out a simple example of logic.  He is saying that, if it is true that fences along our national southern border would not cut down massive illegal immigration, why does do they stop intruders in the San Diego area and around the White House in Washington, D.C.?  Father, we need Your guidance in all that is being decided about this border issue, because lawlessness is now ruling in that part of our nation.  Have mercy, Father!  We repent for our sins, apathy and indifference, for ourselves and for our land. We know we desperately need Your presence in our midst.  We ask this prayer in the Name of Jesus, Amen and Amen.

- "Christ, the power of God and the wisdom of God." (1 Corinthians 1:24)

6. California police 'pummelling' of woman is investigated - BBC

The unidentified officer involved in the incident is reported to be on administrative leave while it is being investigated.

The California Highway Patrol says that it is investigating footage posted on YouTube that shows a policeman repeatedly punching the face and head of a prostrate woman. Video shows him straddling the woman and hitting her at least 11 times.

Police say that the woman needed to be restrained and was endangering herself and motorists by walking on a busy road in the west of Los Angeles. The incident was recorded by passing motorist David Tiaz. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, this is not the only time the police in a local jurisdiction seem to have inflicted excessive force upon an innocent citizen. Rather, we are beginning to see similar reports of this kind of activity taking place across the nation.

In this case, the authorities are saying that the woman was endangering herself and possibly other motorists on the highway. Be that as it may, punching someone in the face and head repeatedly constitutes excessive brutality and is not a matter of simple restraint.  We ask You to be in the midst of this investigation so that Your Truth will come forth and justice will be served.

Lord God, too, because this action by local law enforcement officials is now becoming a national issue, we also ask the hearings be held on Capitol Hill to investigate these charges and to make recommendations, as needed, to protect the health and the safety of our public. We pray this in Jesus' Name, Amen and Amen.

- "God is a just judge, and God is angry with the wicked every day." (Ps. 7:11)

7. Fears of undetectable bombs implanted in terrorists' FLESH prompt heightened security at European airports - NY Daily News

Passengers on U.S.-bound flights from Europe endured lengthy security checks Friday amid new fears terrorists could sneak high-tech bombs aboard in cell phones, shoes or even implanted in their flesh. In Paris and London passengers encountered additional screenings that caused delays of 30 minutes to an hour.  The concern has prompted additional screenings of passengers aboard U.S.-bound flights. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, may both the US and EU awaken to this threat, which terrorist groups are now announcing to the world.   We thank You that stronger checks are being done for passengers boarding flights and may any threat be found in time.  In Jesus' Name we pray, Amen and Amen.

- "Let all my enemies be ashamed and greatly troubled; let them turn back and be ashamed suddenly." (Psalm 6:10)

8. CEO of One of the World's Energy Majors "Sees No Reason for Petrodollar" - Reuters

The USA is fast running out of friends to support its 'exorbitant privilege'. Having alienated the Germans over NSA-eavesdropping, 'boomerang'd the Russians into de-dollarization, tariffed and quantitatively eased China into diversification, and finally 'punished' France into discussing the dollar's demise; it appears no lesser person than the CEO of Total (the world's 13th biggest oil producer and Europe's 2nd largest), believes "There is no reason to pay for oil in dollars." Clearly, based on Christophe de Margerie's comments, that we have passed peak Petrodollar. (Read more)

- US for this event - the dropping of the US dollar as the basis for payments for oil - which is most likely going to occur soon. This will devastate many lives but we know You are the one in control of our lives so we ask You, as Your children, to show us how to prepare for this coming crisis. We ask this in Jesus' Name, Amen and Amen.

- "The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; for You,     Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You." (Psalm 9:9-10)

9. Muslim Terrorists Crossing US/Mexican Border Leave Their Prayer Rug Behind - Jewsnews

A local news station found Border Patrol documents that indicated that thousands of OTMs - "Other Than Mexicans" - have been caught crossing the Mexican border into the U.S., including some known terrorists.

But since that report, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has DENIED that there is any "credible evidence" that any terrorists have crossed over.

So the reporter took another look - and the evidence he found is even worse than originally revealed.

He found that 300 terrorists from the Somali Al Queda group Al-Shabaab - the group behind the terror attack at the Kenyan shopping mall last September - have entered the U.S. and are unaccounted for. (Read more)

- Clearly, this issue of illegals crossing our southern border has gone way beyond that of innocent little children being used as tools in some large game. This is now a matter of life or death for our own citizens. In this week of 7-7-7 intercession, let's join forces and cry out to God to show us His mercy, and to bring amazing victories in the effort to search for -- and to find -- these terrorists. Please show us Your mercy, O Lord! Amen.

- "Remember me, LORD, when you show favor to your people, come to my aid when you save them." (Psalm 106:4)

10. Texas Rangers Dispatched to Secure Border Amid Stolen Mexican Nuke Threat - TeaParty.org

For the third time in less than a year Mexican officials report that security surrounding the storage and transportation of nuclear material in the troubled state has been compromised.

According to civil defense officials a vehicle carrying a lethal dose of radioactive Iridium-192 was hijacked by unknown thieves. The Mexican government warned Friday that a vehicle containing radioactive material has been stolen, and issued a dire warning to the thieves against taking the potentially deadly material from its protective container. The substance "can be dangerous for human health if removed from its container," the officials said in a statement, adding that the material can be lethal even if handled for only a brief time. The theft in Mexico state prompted officials to issue an alert throughout the capital region and in neighboring states.

. . . [Also] "We are simply being ordered to stand down and stop tracking and trying to apprehend the criminals," Shawn Moran, Vice President of the National Border Patrol Council, told Breitbart back in October. He added that Border Patrol agents "in every single sector from San Diego to the Rio Grande Valley in Texas" were receiving these orders.

While Americans are being routinely monitored and flagged as extremists who are a danger to society, the entire southern border has been left completely unsecured.

The Federal government, while stockpiling billions of rounds of ammunition, deploying thousands of armored vehicles around the country and heavily militarizing law enforcement agencies, has refused to utilize these taxpayer funded assets to protect the United States from the very real chance that diseases, violent criminal gangs, and now even nuclear devices could cause more damage than any 'domestic person of interest' ever could. (Read more)

- Pray that these plans to destroy our nation through these various wicked schemes would be made null and void by the Mighty Hand of our God. Amen.

- "They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death." (Rev. 12:11)

3. Netanyahu holds more security deliberations amid rockets, rioting - Jerusalem Post

With rockets falling on the South from the Gaza Strip, and rioting in Jerusalem as well as among Arab Israelis in the North, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held urgent security consultations Saturday that ended with only an anemic statement to the press.

Netanyahu, according to the statement, summed up the meetings he held with Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon, Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch and Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) head Yoram Cohen by saying the IDF was operating against Hamas targets and was ready "for all developments."

The statement said counteractions were being conducted "responsibly" and "with determination" in order to return the quiet. (Read more)

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas spoke Saturday with the head of Hamas's political wing, Khaled Mashaal, and asked him to take immediate steps to quell any further escalation of hostilities against Israel from the Gaza Strip. 6. Israel skeptical of Iran nuclear deal by deadline, pledges to help Jordan push back ISIS - Jerusalem Post

Israel does not expect world powers to reach a nuclear agreement with Iran by a late July deadline, a government minister said on Friday, accusing Tehran of maintaining a "hard line" at talks under way in Vienna.

Strategic Affairs Minister Yuval Steinitz spoke on the second day of what could be the final round of talks aimed at ending a decade-old international dispute over Iran's nuclear program that Israel sees as a threat to its existence.

Asked whether he believed there would be a deal in less than three weeks, Steinitz told Reuters in Jerusalem: "My estimate is that there will not be. I think the Iranians came with a very hard line... The Iranians came without willingness to compromise but with a desire to exploit this stage to soften and improve the opening positions of the other side," he said. (Read more)

7. US team staying in Vienna in bid to make July 20 Iran deal deadline - Times of Israel

Talks resumed full-swing between Iran and the P5+1 member states Thursday, but amid increased rhetoric from each side blaming the other for intransigence, the US complained that Iran had still not demonstrated sufficient willingness to take the necessary steps to satisfy international concerns regarding its nuclear program.

"We are just asking for Iran to take concrete and verifiable steps to show that what they're saying is true," said a senior administration official Thursday afternoon. Although Iran has repeatedly said that its nuclear program exists only for civilian use, US officials complained that Iran will not agree to the steps that would ensure that the nuclear program could not be used to manufacture munitions. 9. Iraq's Maliki rejects pressure to give up premiership - Reuters

Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki refused on Friday to give up his quest for a third term in power, defying a chorus of critics demanding his replacement as the country faces an existential threat from Islamist insurgents.

Maliki has come under mounting pressure since militants of the group now calling itself the Islamic State rampaged through swathes of the country last month and declared a medieval-style caliphate on land they have captured in Iraq and neighboring Syria.

"I will never give up my candidacy for the post of prime minister," Maliki said in a statement read out on state television by an announcer. "I will remain a soldier, defending the interests of Iraq and its people," he added, in the face of what he called terrorists and their allies. (Read more)

10. One of six Jewish nationalists arrested confesses to revenge killing of Arab teen - Jerusalem Post

Netanyahu unequivocally condemns murder of Arab teen Abu Khdeir

Four days after the alleged revenge killing of Palestinian teen Muhammad Abu Khdeir convulsed the nation into violence, one of the six unidentified young Jewish extremists arrested early Sunday morning for the brutal murder confessed to the crime.

According to numerous sources, the confession was made during intensive questioning by Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency). The suspects, described as "young men and minors," are reportedly from the city of Beit Shemesh and Adam, a West Bank settlement. (Jerusalem Post) Read more here.

11. Violent Riots Cause Massive Damage in Jerusalem - Times of Israel

During riots overnight Friday-Saturday in the central Arab-Israeli town of Kalanswa, masked men attacked a number of cars belonging to Jewish Israelis, setting one on fire. On Friday night and into Saturday morning, Arab Israelis burned tires and clashed with security forces in Kalanswa, and other central and northern towns including Taibe, Tira and Baqa al-Gharbiya, in protest of the death of Arab Palestinian teenager Muhammad Abu Khdeir, 16. Police made 31 arrests and said more were expected. In Kalanswa, after road 5614 was blocked in both directions due to burning tires, masked men began asking drivers their religion. Two of the drivers who answered back in Hebrew were dragged from their cars and beaten. One of the drivers managed to get back in his car and escape while the other escaped on foot. His car was set on fire. A police officer in uniform was also attacked on the road. He escaped on foot and his vehicle sustained damage. Police said Saturday that reinforcements were called up should additional rioting take place later in the day.

Dozens of swastikas were spray-painted alongside the road to the Western Wall in Jerusalem in the past few days. On Friday, swastikas and hate graffiti calling for "Death to the Jews" were also found outside the southern town of Rahat, the Ynet news website reported. Jewish Home MK Ayelet Shaked posted images of the Jerusalem graffiti. She added a sarcastic refrain, on the lack of widespread condemnation, on her Facebook page. "Surely you've seen these pictures all over the media," she wrote. "Tzipi Livni has surely denounced it. Surely President Peres already went on a visit there. Surely the internal security minister called it terror. Oh, sorry, it's only a swastika. No biggie." (Read more)

"They will fight against you, but they shall not prevail against you; for I am with you to save you and deliver you," says the Lord. "I will deliver you from the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem you from the grip of the terrible." (Jeremiah 15:20-21)

1. NEW BORDER RISK: ISIS TIES TO MEXICAN DRUG LORDS - WND

Expert warns Middle East turmoil could sting U.S. A top U.S. Defense Department analyst under President Bush says ISIS, the Islamic jihadists creating a Muslim caliphate in Iraq and beyond, could use the Mexican border to infiltrate America, and it could happen "sooner rather than later." At a time when thousands are crossing the U.S.-Mexico border illegally each day, the risks might never be higher, said Michael Maloof, now a senior staff writer for WND and expert on the Middle East. He said there are risks to the economy and the nation's health. And he warned the Iraq crisis easily could turn into a global issue. In the Middle East, the radical jihadists in the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (Greater Syria), or ISIS, have been conquering northern portions of Iraq. They've been executing, crucifying and beheading as they burn through the fragile nation. They now threaten to overthrow the government of Iraq and its neighbors to build a caliphate to use as a launching pad for attacks on the U.S. and its allies. (Read more)

2. ISIS: GIVE OVER GIRLS FOR 'SEX JIHAD' - WND

Posters in public places tell Mosul residents to bring daughters to 'fulfill their duty'

ISIS has been putting up posters throughout Mosul, one of the captured Iraqi cities, telling residents to bring their unmarried daughters to ISIS soldiers, according to a report from the Clarion Project, a respected nonprofit organization that works to expose Islamic extremism, primarily through documentary films it produces.

Citing Arabic sources including those inside Mosul, the report said the posters call for girls to participate in "jihad al-nikah," or "sex jihad."

"We call upon the people of this county to bring their unmarried girls so they can fulfill their duty in sex jihad for their warrior brothers in the city and anyone who will not appear will feel the full force of the Shariah [Islamic law] upon him." The report said ISIS fighters have been going door-to-door, entering houses, killing the men and raping women, too. (Read more)

3. JOHN BOLTON: MIDDLE EAST 'SPINNING INTO ANARCHY' - WND

Warns of threat to U.S. posed by 'principle enemy' Iran Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton says the Middle East is facing more instability now than at any time in the past 50 years and he blames the Obama administration for fueling the chaos through cozy relations with Iran, abandoning Iraq and funding terrorism through foreign aid to the Palestinian Authority.

"It's worse than at any time, I think, since before the 1967 war between Israel and the Arabs. In each of the countries, [including] Libya or Egypt or Yemen or other states that are just dissolving in front of us, you could see this series of crises merge into the entire region and really spinning into anarchy," Bolton told WND. Bolton says the most alarming developments center on Iran, the rise of ISIS in Iraq and Syria and the latest escalation of tensions between Israel and the Palestinians, but he says the erosion of stability impacts far more places in the region. 4. Palestinian jihadists seek unity with ISIS - WND

There is an attempt by jihadist organizations in the Gaza Strip to unite under the common banner of the al-Qaida-inspired Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, according to informed Middle Eastern security officials.

Contacted by WND, Abu Saqer, one of the top leaders of Jihadiya Salafiya, which represents al-Qaida ideology in the Gaza Strip, confirmed the attempt to organize various jihad groups to fight Israel under the ISIS umbrella.

Saqer claimed there is also an effort to recruit jihadists to ISIS from inside the West Bank, particularly in the Hebron region.

While the exact nature of the ISIS presence in Gaza remains unclear, the group's flags were seen flying at a funeral this past Sunday for two terrorists eliminated in an Israel Air Force strike last Friday, Israel's daily Maariv newspaper reported. The terrorists' coffins were reportedly also draped in ISIS flags. (Read more)

5. Fears terrorists will target planes with computer and human bombs - Telegraph UK

Terrorists are plotting to use new stealth bombs in laptops and even humans to bring down a US-bound passenger plane, it is feared. Airport security was increased across the UK, US and other countries amid fears al-Qaeda bomb experts have successfully designed a new explosive that can bypass current checks.

They are believed to be targeting the thousands of Western jihadists fighting in Syria and Iraq as would-be suicide bombers. The threat, which originated from US intelligence, had an immediate impact at British airports where passengers were subjected to more stringent and rigorous security checks. (Read more)

6. US: Phones, shoes to face scrutiny as airport security tightened - Reuters

Airlines with direct flights to the United States have been told to tighten screening of mobile phones and shoes in response to intelligence reports of increased threats from al Qaeda-affiliated militant groups, U.S. officials said on Thursday. The officials singled out smartphones including iPhones made by Apple Inc and Galaxy phones made by Samsung Electronics Co Ltd for extra security checks on U.S.-bound direct flights from Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

U.S. security officials said they fear bombmakers from the Yemen-based al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) have figured out how to turn the phones into explosive devices that can avoid detection. They also are concerned that hard-to-detect bombs could be built into shoes, said the officials, who declined to be identified because of the sensitivity of the issue. (Read more)

Alert from Cindy Jacobs (Repeating)

Alert from Cindy Jacobs

A Second Posting Today

Given this week's distressing news from our southern border, we repeat below the recent alert that Cindy Jacobs has posted, also calling for an intensive season of intercession for the securing of those borders.

Prayer Alert From Cindy Jacobs:

A Call for United Prayer

Published on the Daily Brief on Friday, June 27, 2014

A few months ago, the Lord had me issue a warning called "Shields Up" to pray for the protection of our nation. Tonight, while reading my Bible, the following passage leapt off the page:

And He has confirmed His words, which He spoke against us and against our judges who judged us, by bringing upon us a great disaster; for under the whole Heaven such has never been done as what has been done to Jerusalem. (Daniel 9:12)

It does not take a prophet to realize that America is in trouble! We know there are many radical extremists who hate us - this is not new. However, as I read the verse this evening I was shaken by it. This is what I am hearing: "There is an another attack on the scale of 9/11 being planned!"

As I prayed to pinpoint how to intercede, I immediately heard these words: "Close the gates! All borders must be closed to terrorists and those who would aid them." This includes all airport customs checkpoints, as well as border crossings.

We must pray for our customs and border agents to have eagle eyes to "see" any potential persons trying to make their way into the United States. We must also pray for all points of public transport.
The good news is that prayer works! This is a call upon every praying person everywhere to stand in the gap and pray for the protection of the nation.

Thank you for praying!

For the nation,

Cindy Jacobs

Member of Congress Denied Access to Immigration Facility

Update:

U.S. Congressman Denied Entry to Immigration Facility in His Home State

(CNSNews.com) - A sitting U.S. congressman tried to visit a federal immigration facility in the state he represents to check on the welfare of the children being held there, but he says he was denied entry.

"All we wanted to do was find out who was running the facility. We wanted to talk to them," Rep. Jim Bridenstine (R-Okla.), a member of the Armed Services Committee, told Fox News's Greta Van Susteren Wednesday night.

"A lot of these children have been telling stories of rape and abuse. And all I wanted to do was talk to who was in charge of the facility and maybe talk to some of the children to make sure everybody was being taken care of. They said, look, you come back on the 21st of July."

Bridenstine said he made it "extremely clear" that he was a member of Congress. "They still told me if I want to take a tour I can come back on the 21st of July, and I need to talk Health and Human Services. They have an office of legislative liaison. They said I need to talk to them, and I can come back on the 21st of July, but until then there won't be any tours."

The Department of Health and Human Services is running the Oklahoma immigration center, where some of the tens of thousands of unaccompanied children are being held after they cross into the United States.

"We drove around the facility," Bridenstine said. "There was a chain-link fence around the facility with some kind of material on the fence so nobody could see out, nobody could see in. It looked like a military barracks with this chain-linked fence that's been obscured all around it. "We tried to find a gate guard. We couldn't find any access points where there was a gate guard so we could talk to somebody."

Bridenstine says he contacted HHS: "I talked to the deputy communications director for HHS. I actually didn't talk to him, I talked to his assistant, who said, if I would like to talk to him (the deputy), I could send an email. I said, I want to be clear, I'm a member of Congress. I'd like to talk to the gentleman. She put me on hold. She came back later and she said, well, the best way to communicate with him is with email. That's what he'd prefer. I said, OK, well, I'm going to send an email and it's going to be a press release indicating you guys are denying me access to a federal facility in my state. What is it they're trying to hide?

"I'm on the Armed Services Committee. I'm on Subcommittee on Oversight. The reports I'm hearing, that what these children are going through is devastating."

Bridenstine says he has complained to the chairman of the Armed Services Committee and the chairman of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee:

"And I have been told that we are going to start the process of finding out what is the policy. Is the policy that members of Congress don't have access to federal facilities? That's the question. And what is it that they are trying to hide? Why is it that they don't want me talking to these children, some of which have devastating stories?"

The congressman says he used to fly counter-drug missions out of El Salvador as a Navy pilot.

"I've spent a lot of time in El Salvador," Bridenstine said. "The crime there is not worse than it has ever been. Neither is the poverty. What's different is that this president's policies -- he has advertised to the world that if you are a child and you come to the United States of America, you will not be sent home. And that is what's happening here. This is a failed presidential policy. It had nothing to do with Republicans not passing comprehensive immigration reform. This problem exists specifically because of the president's failed policy."

President Obama in 2012 waived deportation for young people who were brought to this country illegally as children, and he also implemented a policy dubbed prosecutorial discretion, which prioritizes criminal aliens for deportation, leaving most others alone.

Diverse coalition delivers "well over the minimum" signatures to qualify repeal vote on ERO (Equal Rights Ordinance)

Houston, TX - A group of pastors and community leaders who have led the opposition to Mayor Annise Parker's "Equal Rights Ordinance" that includes a provision allowing biological males to enter women's restrooms, delivered petitions to Houston City Hall today containing the minimum number of qualified signatures to certify a referendum on the measure. Pastor Max Miller spoke for the coalition praising the effort made to achieve this difficult threshold in only thirty days.

"We are very pleased and humbled by the outpouring of support and tireless work from citizens all over Houston, and in particular the incredible response from churches throughout the city of every color, size and background. Given the difficult requirements of only allowing City of Houston registered voters to collect signatures and that every petition be notarized, to acquire over 50,000 signatures in this short time is an amazing achievement by the people of this city."
Pastor Miller also described the extra effort put in to pre-verify signatures to assure that any non-qualified names were removed prior to submitting to the city. "A massive amount of effort was put in over the last several weeks not only to collect but also to then verify name by name to assure with reasonable certainty that only valid registered voters in the City of Houston were included in those we submitted to the city. We have verified and are submitting over 31,000 of those signatures as qualified voters in the City of Houston."
He concluded on behalf of the coalition by expressing confidence in the process. "We believe that City Secretary Anna Russell is a person of integrity and with the numbers we have submitted also believe that we have met the requirements to require the Houston City Council to either repeal the ordinance or place it on the ballot this November to let the people vote. We are content with either action and believe that the vast majority of the people of this city want our women and children as well as our freedom protected."
The No UNequal Rights coalition represents a broad and diverse group of pastors, civic leaders and citizens of every demographic and corner of Houston.

"And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."

There is None Like You - Hillsong

"Lord, there is no one like you! For you are great, and your name is full of power. Who would not fear you, O King of nations? That title belongs to you alone! Among all the wise people of the earth and in all the kingdoms of the world, there is no one like you. But the Lord is the only true God. He is the living God and the everlasting King! The whole earth trembles at his anger. The nations cannot stand up to his wrath." (Jeremiah 10:6, 7, 10 NLT)
