"Praying for All in Authority"

Monday, March 31, 2014

". . . the fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding." (Job 28:28)
Thank you for praying for the Persecuted Church!
Please visit the website for the International Christian Concern to find ongoing needs for prayer among the persecuted around the world. Thank you.

The Daily Brief

1. US, Russia to begin new round of talks over Ukraine - Fox News

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry will open talks with his Russian counterpart, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, in Paris Sunday in the latest attempt by Washington to defuse an ongoing conflict with Moscow over future of Ukraine. The Wall Street Journal reported Sunday that U.S. officials have been divided over whether Putin's call was indicative of a genuine desire to ease tensions between East and West or a pretext for further military action in Eastern Europe. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, we ask You to be in the midst of this new set of talks over the concerns for the Ukraine and its people. May Your will and plans for this area be what is discussed and implemented, and may any further moves towards war be stopped. We pray in the Name of Jesus, Amen and Amen.

- "In the mouth of a fool is a rod of pride, but the lips of the wise will preserve them." (Proverbs 14:3)

2. New objects seen, but still no evidence of jet - AP

PERTH, Australia (AP) - A day after the search for the Malaysian jetliner shifted to a new area of the Indian Ocean, ships on Saturday plucked objects from the sea to determine whether they were related to the missing jet. None were confirmed to be from the plane, leaving searchers with no sign of the jet three weeks after it disappeared.

Meanwhile, a Chinese military plane scanning part of the search zone, which is roughly the size of Poland, spotted several objects floating in the sea, including two bearing colors of the missing jet.

It was not immediately clear whether those objects were related to the investigation into what happened to Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, which disappeared March 8 en route from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to Beijing, and officials said the second day of searching in the new area ended with no evidence found of the jet. (Read more)

- Abba Father, we cannot say that we know where this missing plane is but we know that You, Father, know where it is and where the missing passengers and crew are. We ask for mercy that the truth come out about this plane and some closure and comfort come for the loved ones who have waited 3 weeks for answers. We ask that You abide with them and comfort them, in Jesus' Name, Amen and Amen.

- "Do they not go astray who devise evil? But mercy and truth belong to those who devise good." (Proverbs 14:22)

3. Mistrust between US, Malaysia strains probe of missing jet - Fox News

The multinational search for a Malaysia Airlines jetliner that disappeared three weeks ago is being hampered by mistrust between U.S. and Malaysian air-accident investigators people familiar with the investigation say.

- Heavenly Father, we ask that You rise up and extend Your right hand and arm over this search, confronting all distrust and hostility involved, so that the families and loved ones can have some peace over this. Abide with them, Father, and draw them unto You if they will come, in Jesus' Name, Amen and Amen.

- "He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city." (Proverbs 16:32)

4. Earthquake, dozens of aftershocks shake Los Angeles - CBS News

A magnitude-5.1 earthquake centered near Los Angeles caused no major damage but jittered nerves throughout the region as dozens of aftershocks struck into the night.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake struck at about 9:09 p.m. Friday and was centered near Brea in Orange County - about 20 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles - at a depth of about 5 miles. It was felt as far south as San Diego and as far north as Ventura County, according to citizen responses collected online by the USGS.

Broken glass, gas leaks, water main breaks and a rockslide were reported near the epicenter, according to Twitter updates from local authorities. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, we bring this concern before Your throne. This is the second recent set of occurrences for earthquakes in this area. We do not know if this is a warning or if it is a build up for a major event, but we ask that You, as You promise in Your Word, warn Your remnant and direct what You would have them do. We pray in the Name of Jesus, Amen and Amen.

- "For the Lord will not forsake His people, for His great name's sake, because it has pleased the Lord to make you His people." (1 Samuel 12:22)

5. California Senate suspends 3 Democratic lawmakers - YahooNews The California Senate voted Friday to suspend three lawmakers caught up in separate criminal cases after the latest one to be hauled into court refused to step down, the most serious house-cleaning action the chamber has taken in more than a century. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, we are glad that action is being taken against these three lawmakers, and that their fraud and corruption has been exposed. We ask, in particular, that You confront them and bring them to you, if they will come, in Jesus' Name, Amen and Amen.

- "A faithful witness does not lie, but a false witness will utter lies." (Proverbs 14:5)

6. ALERT! Common Core emerges as potent election issue for fed-up parents - Fox News

Parents across the country may hold the key to this year's mid-term elections as they vent their anger over the implementation of a controversial education achievement measure called the Common Core State Standards Initiative. Forty-five states and the District of Columbia have adopted the initiative in a bid, they say, to improve education standards in Math and English, and give new life to what many view as a sagging education system. Indiana recently voted to back out of Common Core.

But many parents see the initiative as a bid by the federal government to take over the education system. They are also angry over the "data mining" of students' personal information, and say the stepped-up standards are not age-appropriate and are leading to anxiety and depression in their children. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, we are glad that parents are awakening to this new Federal plan to control the minds of our children and to monopolize what is taught in our schools. May all that is questionable be exposed and may the concerns of the parents be heard, so that our children may be taught the skills they will need for their future. We ask this in the Name of Jesus, Amen and Amen.

- "Fools mock at sin, but among the upright there is favor." (Proverbs 14:9)

7. Report: PM tells US that coalition could collapse if Israel-Arab prisoners released - Jerusalem Post

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu told the US that the Israeli government coalition could collapse should he go through with the controversial 4th prisoner release, according to a report by the British periodical al-Hayat. The report further quotes Palestinian officials stating that Abbas has made clear his refusal to continue negotiations should the fourth prisoner release not come to fruition. (Read more)

- Abba Father, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has informed US leaders that no further prisoner releases can occur without serious damage to Israel's government. Abbas states he will not negotiate further if they are not released but he also clearly states repeatedly that he and the 'Palestinians' will not acknowledge Israel's right to exist as a nation.

Lord God, if it is Your will that these negotiations continue, we ask that You would make a way for true peace in Israel to be established. Please also grant our own leaders in the United States Your wisdom and your understanding to see through the lies of the enemy of Israel, and to work to uphold her sovereignty as a nation. We ask this in Your name, amen and amen.

- "A wise man fears and departs from evil, but a fool rages and is self-confident." (Proverbs 14:16)

8. France's Reckoning: Rich, Young Flee Welfare State - CBN

France's day of reckoning has arrived: Its wealthy, best and brightest are saying goodbye to a nation they believe doesn't want them to succeed or become affluent.(View video here)

- Heavenly Father, as this article reports, increasingly the wealthy, young and well educated are fleeing France as a nation due to excessive taxes, governmental mandates and rising problems in their society. If too many of these current or future leaders choose to leave, the long term impact upon the nation could be devastating. We ask You, Father, to arise and abide over this change, confronting those who can work the issues to change them, so this loss of needed leadership is stopped.

We ask, too, that leaders in government and business in our own nation would take note of what is happening in France, so that our own increasingly socialist policies do not bring the same result in our own society. In the Name of Jesus, we pray, Amen and Amen.

- "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people." (Proverbs 14:34)

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani announced over the weekend that he has appointed Hamid Abutalebi, a veteran diplomat who is suspected of participating in the 1979 US Embassy hostage crisis, to be the Islamic Republic's new ambassador to the United Nations. Abutalebi has denied accusations that he directly participated in the violent takeover of the Embassy, saying that he merely acted as a translator between the parties during the negotiations over the release of hostages. The Daily Jot

Of accountability and discernment

The recent failed attempt by World Vision president Richard Stearns to allow the hiring of same sex married people is indicative of why Christians must continuously discern and hold accountable those who claim to be serving in the name of Christ. World Vision obviously thought it could slip in this unbiblical policy and call it something that would provide unity among the churches. After being outed, Stearns said, "We shouldn't have been surprised (of the backlash), but we were a bit." Perhaps this is a reminder to Christian aristocracy that Christianity is based on the Word of God, not the word of man. When ministries stray from the Holy Scriptures, they must be reprimanded. World Vision isn't the only one.

In January 2012, there was a huge controversy surrounding Wycliffe, SIL International and Frontiers over changing the Word of God to appease Islamic concepts of the Bible. Exposed was that their translations varied according to the language being translating. Arabic translations of the familial terms "Son of God" or "God the Father" were changed to reflect the language. An Arabic version of the Gospel of Matthew changed Matthew 28:19 from "baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit" to "cleanse them by water in the name of Allah, his Messiah and his Holy Spirit." This raised tremendous ire among Christians and Wycliffe reconsidered.
In March of 2008, Pope Benedict's staff met with Muslim representatives in response to a letter written by some 200 Islamic leaders entitled "A Common Word Between Us and You." The Muslims were trying to get the Christian community to accept that there is one god, Allah, and that the Muslim, Catholic and Protestant Christian faiths share the "love of God and the love of neighbor." Over 300 deceived Christian leaders, including Jim Wallus of Sojourners, Bill Hybels of Willow Creek, Rick Warren of Saddleback Church and Richard Cizick of the National Association of Evangelicals, responded with a letter that implied several times that Allah and Jehovah were the same and that Christians and Muslims worship the same God.
Jesus warned in Matthew 7:15, "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits." While websites and statements of faith are written, actions are the true validation of them. Changing the word of God or winking at its foundational principles in some lofty ambition to create unity with darkness is wrong. 2 Corinthians 6:14 asks, "What fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion has light with darkness?" Ephesians 5:11 says, "And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them." Some of these ministries are repentant, others not. But we must discern and hold accountable those who seek to change the Word of God.
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Another Obamacare Scandal

Another Obamacare Scandal

Today is the deadline to sign up for Obamacare. Well, sort of. That deadline, like so many other parts of the law, was unilaterally waived too -- even after government bureaucrats admitted they had no statutory authority to do so.

But as we have reported, there are serious concerns about the integrity of the data that is being collected by Obamacare websites and navigators. Not only has it been plagued by errors, causing major headaches for insurers, doctors and customers, but now there is evidence that some left-wing groups have been using the information to promote the Democrat Party and its candidates, especially in Texas.

The ACLU has been pressuring California and several other states to provide voter registration forms to individuals when they sign up for Obamacare. (The 1993 "Motor-Voter" law required states to allow individuals to register to vote when they got a driver's license or signed up for public assistance.) Some states initially resisted the ACLU's demands because they did not consider the healthcare exchanges to be "public assistance."
But California officials sided with the ACLU, and last week Covered California, the state's Obamacare exchange, began mailing voter registration forms to the roughly four million individuals who signed up for health insurance.

News broke over the weekend that a couple in La Mesa received their voter registration form from Covered California pre-checked to register them as Democrats.

Voter fraud is generally something left to state and local officials to prosecute. But members of Congress should not remain silent about this latest Obamacare scandal. The state exchanges have received billions of taxpayer dollars from the federal government. Congress has an obligation to make sure those funds are spent appropriately. (Gary Bauer)

A Real Story Behind Obamacare

A Real Story Behind Obamacare

By Congressman Randy Forbes

March 31, 2014

I sat across the table from her and her husband in my Chesapeake District Office, her eyes frustrated, determined, and yet hopeful still as she shared her story with me. It was 2005 when Chesapeake resident Ms. Catherine Blackwood was diagnosed with carcinoid cancer, a slow-growing and terminal disease that, if there can be a fortunate side to cancer, responds well to treatment. Over the past several years, with the support of her family and the consistency of stable health insurance, Ms. Blackwood has undergone regular treatments. Her survival is due in part to what her son calls an "indomitable will," and in part due to the availability of a semimonthly cancer medication that slows her disease. For years, her insurance covered the cancer drug at 100% for a premium affordable for the Blackwoods.

But last year, Ms. Blackwood's experience changed. This time, it was not because of a change in her cancer or other cancer-related health issues. In November last year, around the point in time when health insurance exchanges opened to Americans, Ms. Blackwood lost the health insurance plan she had held for nearly 20 years. This left her fighting to figure out how she could afford the cancer medication that arguably had helped keep her alive all of these years. Without coverage, the treatment would cost upwards of $14,000 a month.
So she turned to Obamacare. When she tried to enroll, Ms. Blackwood found an exchange website that did not work. She spent hours on the phone with enrollment agents, and she received competing information. Agents told her she would be covered at 100%. After buying a plan, however, the insurance company later told her it would not cover her medication at all. In a fight for her lifeline, and perhaps under pressure from reports in the news media, the insurance company agreed to cover Ms. Blackwood's treatments for the remainder of this year, but not beyond that.
. . . Access to affordable healthcare should not come at such a high price. Citizens should not live in the fear that their lives will become unhinged because of new complexities in the healthcare system.

Sitting across from Ms. Blackwood in my Chesapeake Office, I thanked her for her will to fight, and I shared with her my resolute commitment to repeal or defund and replace Obamacare. I will not give up the fight. As Ms. Blackwood reminds us, there is simply too much at stake.

For a list of ways in which I continue to work to end Obamacare, visit my website http://www.forbes.house.gov or follow me on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/randyforbes.

[To read this article in its entirety, please go here.]
- Father, we thank You for Congressman Randy Forbes and the many others in both the House and the Senate who are now working to defund Obamacare and send it to the archives of history. We continue to ask Your favor to be upon these brave men and women in Congress, and your wisdom to guide them along the way. Thank You, Abba, for hearing our prayer, in Jesus' name, amen.
- "For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding." (Proverbs 2:6)

Abbas' New "Peace" Offer - an Abomination!

PA: Talks can go on if Israel frees 1,000 prisoners
Abbas also demands settlement freeze and transfer of some Area C regions to the Palestinian control

The Palestinian leadership presented an offer to American mediators - that Israel release 1,000 more prisoners, of the Palestinian Authority's choosing and in exchange, peace talks would be extended until the end of 2014. Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas also demanded that Israel freeze settlement construction and transfer some Area C regions to the Palestinian Authority's control. (Times of Israel) Read more.

On Saturday, The Times of Israel learned from a Palestinian source that Jerusalem, backed by Washington, offered to release 400 more prisoners of Israel's choosing, in addition to a fourth and final group of longtime terrorism convicts who were set to go free this weekend - on the condition that the Palestinian Authority agrees to prolong the ongoing negotiations beyond the April 29 deadline. Federal Judge Blocks Administration from Enforcing Contraception Mandate
in Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Atlanta

A federal judge has blocked the Obama administration from enforcing its controversial contraception mandate against Roman Catholic-affiliated organizations in the Archdiocese of Atlanta and the Diocese of Savannah.

(Atlanta, GA)-A federal judge has blocked the Obama administration from enforcing its controversial contraception mandate against Roman Catholic-affiliated organizations in the Archdiocese of Atlanta and the Diocese of Savannah.
U.S. District Judge William Duffey ruled Wednesday that the federal government cannot force Catholic schools, hospitals or charities to cover sterilizations, contraceptives or abortion-causing drugs in their health plans, as Obamacare requires of all employers, because to do so would violate their religious freedoms. The Catholic Church teaches that artificial contraception of any kind is gravely sinful.
Previously, the government had offered a 'compromise' arrangement in which churches would be exempt from the requirement, but not religiously affiliated groups like Catholic schools and hospitals that employ and serve people outside the faith. Such groups would instead have the option of passing the costs of the offending procedures and medications on to the insurance company by signing a "self-certification form" outlining their religious objections and authorizing the insurer to pay the costs instead.
But numerous Catholic and other religious organizations have objected to the "compromise" policy, arguing that signing a paper authorizing insurance companies to provide drugs and procedures they see as immoral is just as wrong as paying for those things themselves. Among them are Wednesday's victors: Catholic Education of North Georgia, Inc., which operates five Catholic schools, and Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Atlanta. (Life Site News)

(Reuters) - Residents of southern California were rattled by a 4.1 magnitude earthquake Saturday afternoon, the largest of more than 100 aftershocks following Friday's 5.1 rumbler that caused light scattered damage around the Los Angeles area.

Aftershocks are expected following earthquakes, according to the USGS. Seismologists said there was about a 5 percent chance that Friday's quake, which struck at 9:09 p.m., was a foreshock to a bigger temblor. (Read more)

"And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."

Song of the Beautiful Bride

- Paul Wilbur

There is a noise,
There is a sound
There is a cry from the depths of our hearts,
Heaven come down

Will not be silenced,
Cant be contained
The cry of a people,
a priesthood, a nation,
called by Your name
Out of the darkness,
Redeemed from the night,
Bathed in His glory,
Reflecting His light

Oh what a beautiful bride!

From every nation,
From every tribe,
Clothed with His righteousness,
Fully alive
Hear the song of the beautiful bride . . .
