The Daily Brief - Wednesday, August 17, 2011

"The LORD will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul." (Psalm 121:7)

Suprise NASA Press Conference

NASA to Discuss Solar Storm Tracking Efforts Thursday

Reported by: The Survival Center News Team

In a surprise announcement, NASA says it will hold a press conference tomorrow (Thursday Aug. 18, 11am PDT) to discuss "new details about the structure of solar storms and the impact they have on Earth."

The news briefing will begin at 2 p.m. EDT (1800 GMT) and will be broadcast live on the NASA TV cable channel, as well as webcast on the agency's NASA TV website.

In light of the fact that we have said for some months that we should be aware of and prepare for major solar storms, this could be one of the most important press conferences of recent times - provided both NASA and the press are prepared to cover the full implications of what such solar storms can do - which includes destroying the electrical grid systems wherever a top-scale coronal mass ejection strikes.

"The briefing will review new observations from several NASA spacecraft, including the Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory (Stereo), that currently keep a close eye on the sun, agency officials said in the statement released Tuesday Aug. 16.

"The news briefing will begin at 2 p.m. EDT (1800 GMT) and will be broadcast live on the NASA TV cable channel, as well as webcast on the agency's NASA TV website.

"The sun is currently in an active phase of its 11-year solar weather cycle (the current season is called Solar Cycle 24) and has erupted with several major flares in recent weeks. The solar cycle will peak in 2013, NASA scientists have said."

We'll be keeping an eye on this issue and will send out special newsletters as necessary.
Best wishes,

The Survival Center News Team

Thursday's briefing will be held at NASA's headquarters in Washington and will include presentations from several space weather experts. They include:

• Madhulika Guhathakurta, Stereo program scientist, NASA Headquarters
• Craig DeForest, staff scientist, Southwest Research Institute, Boulder, Colo.
• David Webb, research physicist, Institute for Scientific Research, Boston College
• Alysha Reinard, research scientist, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the University of Colorado, Boulder

Last week, the sun unleashed its largest solar flare in more than four years. That Aug. 9 solar eruption registered as a class X6.9 sun storm on the three-tier scale used to measure the star's most powerful weather events. It caused some radio signal blackouts, but did not pose a serious threat to satellites and astronauts in orbit, or infrastructure systems on Earth as some major solar events can do.

Earlier this month, a series of three solar storms in three days sent a deluge of charged particles toward Earth that created dazzling aurora displays above the Earth's polar regions, known as the northern lights in the Northern Hemisphere and the southern lights in the south.

The Daily Brief

1. Experts: Fukushima 'off-scale' lethal radiation level infers millions dying - National Examiner

Fukushima nuclear power plant radiation recordings of external gamma radiation have been so high this week, they went off scale said veteran nuclear expert Arnie Gunderson on Thursday after the famous physicist, Dr. Chris Busby told the Japanese people this week that radioactive air contamination there is now 300 times that of Chernobyl and 1000 times the atomic bomb peak in 1963, inferring that hundreds of millions of people are now dying from Fukushima radiation, including people in the United States.

- Father, save the souls of the innocent victims dying from Fukushima nuclear power plant radiation. God, we plead for the salvation of souls through the blood of Jesus Christ. In Jesus Name.

- Deliver those who are drawn away to death, and those who totter to the slaughter, hold them back from their doom. (Proverbs 24: 11)

2. Food Prices Could Hit Tipping Point for Global Unrest - Wired News

When food shortages and rising prices drive people to desperation, social unrest soon follows. It's as true today as it was in 18th-century France. According to a new analysis of food prices and unrest, the 2008 global food riots and ongoing Arab Spring may be a preview of what's coming.

- God, we pray for mercy and ask that the Holy Spirit touch hearts far and wide and they repent by asking Jesus to save their souls. We pray that people turn to the living and true God. When a people are seeking God with a true heart, the protection of the Lord is always certain. Father, we go to the root of the problem and ask that those who are creating this problem will be stopped dead in their tracks and God we ask that You send angels to thwart and destroy their plans, that the food supply not be cut off. In Jesus Name.

- "God causes the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that He may bring forth food out of the earth; and wine that makes glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengthens man's heart." (Psalm 104:14-15)

3. Europe 'On Course' to Become One Country - UK Express

David Cameron was under mounting pressure last night to hold a referendum on EU membership amid claims that the Coalition is paving the way for full eurozone financial integration.

- Father, we hold fast to the hands of our God and ask that Your holy power encircle David Cameron, the European Union, and members of the Coalition, that all their preemptive plans to bring a one world government before God's timetable be abolished and crumble before their very eyes. In the Name of Jesus.

- "My God has sent His angel, and has shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt us." (Daniel 6:22)

4. Brace for another U.S.-Mideast war. First Libya, now sources say next country warned of NATO attack - Klein Online

Turkey secretly passed a message to Damascus that NATO may attack Syrian President Bashar Assad's regime, according to Egyptian security officials speaking to KleinOnline.

- Father God, we ask that the young men and women of the United States of America be exempt from being called upon to fight in another war that we are not involved in. Cover America and our young people with the protection of the blood of Christ and save us. In Jesus Name.

- "And you shall hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that you be not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end of the world is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows." (Matthew 24:5-8)

5. Economists: Second US Recession, If It Hits, Could Hit Hard - VOA News

Some economists are worried that the United States is poised for another recession. They warn that a so-called "double-dip," if it comes, could be more painful for average Americans than the 2007-2008 recession. Jobs, incomes, output and industrial production are all weaker now than they were then. One sector that has been hit especially hard is housing.

- Father, we implore You to strike the root of this problem and the secret powers that are playing a game of chess with our livelihood, and that they be removed from their preeminence and cast down to the ground along with their destructive plans. We ask that Your hand be stretched out over the land and we recover from this evil, man-made downward spiral. In Jesus Name.

-"That the Lord make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then you shall understand that these men have provoked the Lord." (Numbers 16:30)

This week, for all the headlines cited below, please join us in proclaiming THIS DECREE:

"Keep not silence, O God. Hold not Your peace, and be not still, O God. For, behold, Your enemies make a noise, and they that hate You have lifted up the head. They have taken crafty counsel against Your people . . . They have said, 'Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.'" (Psalm 83:1-4)

Of the Federal Reserve and the Greater Economy

The Federal Reserve and its monetary policy is coming under the magnifying glass in the US presidential campaign. Texas Republican Governor Rick Perry, who has taken the lead in polls for the Republican nomination, lashed out at the Fed. Of Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke, Perry said, "If this guy prints more money between now and the election, I don't know what y'all will do to him in Iowa, but we would treat him pretty ugly down in Texas...Printing more money to play politics at this particular time in American history is almost treacherous, treasonous in my opinion." In this era of Democratic defined political civility, Perry's comments drew instant fire from the president's camp, saying he needed to watch his mouth.

On behalf of the president, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney responded: "When you're President or you're running for President you have to think about what you're saying, because your words have greater impact. And Obama and we take the independence of the Federal Reserve quite seriously, and certainly think threatening the Fed Chairman is probably not a good idea." Later, he was asked what kind of threat was Perry making. Carney said, "I just think that you've got to be careful of what you say. The Fed's independence is important, and that's really the only thing I was trying to convey." So it wasn't really a threat at all, only that the Fed must maintain its independence.

Both Perry and another Texas candidate for president, Ron Paul, are on to something about the Federal Reserve. Article 1 Section 8 of the US Constitution lists the enumerated powers of Congress. Among them are "To coin money, regulate the value thereof, and of foreign coin, and fix the standard of weights and measures." Under globalist Democratic president Woodrow Wilson, the Democratic-controlled Congress created the Fed as a central bank, conveying its power of regulating the money to the Fed. The Fed loans money to the government using interest bearing bank notes supported by debt. Simply put, the Fed is laundering our own money back to the government and the citizens get stuck with the debt.

The Fed is the linchpin of the one world order. It folds America into the world banking system and places citizens' money, property and economy in the hands of global strategists controlled by financiers. Perry made no threat. He only brought attention to a huge factor in our nation's monetary policy that has enabled bad government. In reality, however, Christians should rest assured of a greater economy as described in Isaiah 9:7, "Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever." As for civility, Perry only said printing more money was "almost treacherous, treasonous." He didn't call voters who disagree with him "terrorists."

Florida County Appeals Ten Commandments Case

Officials in Dixie County, Florida are appealing to keep a Ten Commandments monument in front of their local courthouse building in Cross City.

U.S. District Judge Maurice Paul ruled on July 15 in favor of the American Civil Liberties Union of Florida, which sued the county to remove the monument.

The monument was bought by a local businessman, who pays for its maintenance as well.

County residents say support for the monument is unanimous . . . (Christian Coalition of America) Read more.

Impact of Gay Marriage on 2012

The recent action in such a high profile state as New York, pushing gay marriage without input from the voters, brings the issue back to the fore. And no matter how much he would like to push the whole issue under the rug, (or back in the closet?), Obama is going to have to deal with it on his way to re-election.

New Hampshire, a state which just elected an overwhelming majority of Republicans plans to try to repeal gay marriage in that state early next year . . .about the that the Presidential primaries are in high gear. In addition, Minnesota will feature a traditional marriage amendment to its state constitution on the November ballot next year.

Most of the key swing states Obama will need to carry in order to win, such as Florida, Ohio, Virginia and Michigan, have such amendments, all passed with large majorities of support from voters. Add to that the fact that blacks, Catholic Democrats and senior citizens are more opposed to gay marriage than most - all groups that Obama needs big support from in order to carry those states. China Flexes Naval Muscle

BEIJING-China sent its first aircraft carrier to sea, a defining moment in its effort to become a top-tier naval power that seeks to challenge U.S. military supremacy in Asia and protect Chinese economic interests that now span the globe. The carrier, based on an empty hull bought from Ukraine, sounded its horn three times as it plowed through fog around the northeastern port of Dalian early Wednesday to begin its first sea trials, according to a Twitter-like service by the state-run Xinhua news agency. The vessel, nearly 1,000 feet long, is far from fully operational: It has a new engine, radar, guns and other equipment, but has limited combat potential without backup from other carriers and an array of support ships. For the moment, it will be used mainly for training personnel, especially fighter pilots who must learn to take off from and land on a moving deck. (Wall Street Journal) Read more. Inside China: CHINA ON JAPAN'S DEFENSE

China sees "ulterior motives" behind Japan's annual defense white paper that warns for the first time of Tokyo's concern about Beijing's growing assertiveness. On Thursday, Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Geng Yansheng announced China's "resolute objection" to the publication. In the annual report, China's assertive naval and maritime activities in and near Japanese waters are meticulously documented. They include last year's dramatic ramming of a Japanese coast guard ship by a Chinese fishing trawler near the disputed Senkaku islands; the unannounced passing through a narrow Japanese strait in Okinawa of a Chinese guided-missile destroyer fleet; and the buzzing of a Japanese destroyer by a Chinese helicopter that flew an "extremely dangerous" 130 feet over the warship.

NAVAL RACE ESCALATES

China officially announced Wednesday the long-anticipated start of sea trials for its first, refitted Russian-made aircraft carrier. As China continues its political intoxication with aircraft carriers in recent days, neighboring countries, especially those with territorial disputes with Beijing, are quietly stepping up the pace of their naval buildups, underscoring increased tensions with China.

FINANCIAL WEAPONS

Within 72 hours of the decision by Standard and Poor's to downgrade the U.S. credit rating, the People's Daily newspaper, the official Chinese Communist Party mouthpiece, published a column by the paper's editor, Ding Gang, with the glaring title: "China Must Punish U.S. for Taiwan Arm Sales with 'Financial Weapons.' " The opening line of this battle cry read: "Now is the time for China to use its 'financial weapons' to teach the United States a lesson if it moves forward with a plan to sell arms to Taiwan." The Good News Corner:

Nevada Judge Calls ACORN 'Reprehensible,' Slaps Group With Maximum Fine for Voter Fraud

A Nevada judge on Wednesday gave ACORN, the defunct grass-roots community organization, the maximum fine for its illegal voter-registration scheme in that state.

District Court Judge Donald Mosley was blunt and unsparing in his criticism of the discredited activist group. Citing the long history of voter registration fraud allegations that engulfed ACORN across the country, he slapped the group with a $5,000 fine for violating Nevada election law during the 2008 presidential election.

Mosley, reading the pre-sentence report, listed a series of voter registration fraud allegations against ACORN workers. He said that if the claims have been true, then "It is making a mockery of our election process. If I had an individual in this courtroom . . . who was responsible for this kind of thing, I would put that person in prison for 10 years, hard time, and not think twice about it," he said. "To me this is reprehensible. This is the kind of thing you see in some banana republic, Uruguay or someplace, not in the United States."(Christian Coaltion of America) Read more.
