The Daily Brief - Monday, August 15, 2011

SPECIAL EDITION

"The LORD will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul." (Psalm 121:7)

A MATCHING GRANT OPPORTUNITY

"AT THE ACCEPTABLE TIME I LISTENED TO YOU, AND ON THE DAY OF SALVATION
I HELPED YOU."

Behold, now is "THE ACCEPTABLE TIME," behold, now is "THE DAY OF SALVATION." (2 Corinthians 6:2)

Dear Friends,

God is always right on time, and He knows our needs, often even before we ask Him!

Now that we are at the end of this summer season, our coffers have become dangerously low, but before we could release this plea for help, a dear friend has stepped forward with an offer we can't refuse.

Our friend is promising to MATCH any gift given to CHPP from now to August 31st,
dollar for dollar!

So, if you send an offering of $50.00, for example, he will match it to equal $100.00! Thus, an offering of $10.00 becomes $20.00; $25.00 becomes $50.00; even $100.00 becomes $200.00!
Isn't God good!

So, may we encourage you to kindly seek the Lord to hear what He would say at this critical time, in giving to this work? You may either donate online by going here, or send a check to CHPP, P.O. Box 5152, Herndon, VA 20172.

Either way, we bless you and we thank you for once again "being there" for us.

in His Grace,

Sara Ballenger, President

The Daily Brief

1. Bachmann Wins Iowa Straw Poll - CNS News

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R.-Minn.) won the presidential straw poll that the Iowa Republican Party hosted today at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. She took 4,823 votes out of a total of 16,892 votes that were cast.

Republican Tim Pawlenty Exits US Presidential Race - VOA News

The list of Republican candidates vying to challenge President Barack Obama in next year's election has shrunk by one. A former state governor, Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota, has dropped out of the race.

- From this day forward, one by one different candidates will be dropping out of this race. For those who remain, pray that they come to know the fear of the LORD so that they will walk in wisdom throughout this long campaign season.

- "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." (Proverbs 9:10)

2. Rick Perry Announces He Is Running for President - CNS News

Texas Gov. Rick Perry announced today that he is seeking the Republican nomination for president in 2012. He made the announcement in Charleston, S.C., at the RedState Gathering, a convention of conservative bloggers.

- Recently, we were able to gladly give our full support to Rick Perry as he convened The Response this month in Houston -- as a call to prayer and repentance for our nation. However, now that Governor Perry has announced his candidacy for President of the United States, we must refrain from further comment.

The reason for this action is legal: as a 501 (c) 3, tax-exempt nonprofit ministry, we are prohibited from either endorsing or opposing any candidate running for office.

Thank you for your continued prayers for all candidates running for office for the next 15 months, and for the voters to have wisdom as they cast their vote. May we again refer you to our Guidelines for Prayer for the 2012 Election Cycle, by going here. Thank you!

- [Taken from the Guide] Pray for the VOTERS -- that they will know and correctly discern the true character of each candidate on the ballot (in both the primaries and in the general election). Pray that they will choose wisely, each one being led by the Spirit of the Most High God.

- "For God will bring every work into judgment, Including every secret thing, Whether good or evil."(Ecclesiastes 12:14)

3. Obama Under 40% (Actually 39%); Hits The Road - Gary Bauer

Barack Obama's approval rating hit a new low of 39% in Gallup's daily tracking poll this weekend. His disapproval rating soared to 54%. Against that backdrop, Obama is hitting the road in what the White House has dubbed an "economic bus tour . . . to stress the vital role rural America plays in ensuring the growth of our economy." Obama will be stopping in Iowa, Illinois and Minnesota this week.

- God is not mocked. That which we sow, we shall reap. Pray that Obama "gets the message" from his falling numbers and turns from the path he has been following. Pray for the heart of this "king."

- "The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, Like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes." (Proverbs 21:1)

4. US concern grows over al-Qaida poison threat - Jerusalem Post

The Obama administration is concerned that a dangerous regional arm of al-Qaida is trying to produce the deadly poison ricin to use in attacks against the United States, the New York Times reported on Friday.

- We ask your prayers tonight that every hidden thing would be revealed to those in authority related to this threat of a ricin attack. God knows it all; may He release the grace that this attack be thwarted now!

- "For there is nothing hidden which will not be revealed, nor has anything been kept secret but that it should come to light." (Mark 4:22)

5. Bill Aims to Bolster Security at U.S. Power Plants - Fox News

A loophole in law doesn't require workers hired at most power plants to undergo FBI background checks even though a federal report warns the plants are a likely route for terrorists, U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer said Sunday in unveiling legislation that would change that.

- It is now almost ten years since the tragedy of 9/11. Offer a word of praise that this bill has been introduced and ask for its swift passage. If there are any legal "loopholes" that would allow innocent civiilians to be labeled as terrorists in this legislation, ask that that language be removed in the final draft. Offer praise, too, that just like Nehemiah, God is raising up those who are now finding -- and sealing -- "breaches" in our walls of security, that we might live safely on our own land.

- "And I went out by night . . . and viewed the walls of Jerusalem which were broken down . . ." (Nehemiah 2:13)

6. Report: Iran to bankroll military base in Syria - Ha'aretz

Western intelligence agencies believe that Iran will provide funding for "a multi-million-dollar military base" in Syria, according to a report published Saturday in a British newspaper.

- The headlines are once again reporting that which Scripture declares. In that day, Iran will be in league with Syria, joined with others to come against Israel. Until that day, however, we are still called to stand as the restraining force against the rising tide of evil in the nations. Take up the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, and decree the end to this plan. Amen.

- "Take counsel together, but it will come to nothing; Speak the word, but it will not stand, For God is with us." (Isaiah 8:10)

7. At Least 22 Killed in Syria's Siege on Port City - VOA News

Syrian security forces have stepped up their deadly crackdown on dissent in Latakia, where the military is blasting the port city with gunfire from land and sea.

- Continue to lift up the brutal regime of President Assad before our God, who is the God of justice. Let's petition our Lord tonight, asking Him to loose His angelic host to protect the citizens of Syria. And may our Lord intervene to bring Mr. Assad to a new place of understanding . . . even to salvation . . . so that this tyrant will cease his rule of terror on his land. Amen.

- "Bless the LORD, you His angels, Who excel in strength, who do His word, Heeding the voice of His word." (Psalm 103:20)

The Middle East in Focus

This week, for all the headlines cited below, please join us in proclaiming THIS DECREE:

"Keep not silence, O God. Hold not Your peace, and be not still, O God. For, behold, Your enemies make a noise, and they that hate You have lifted up the head. They have taken crafty counsel against Your people . . . They have said, 'Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.'" (Psalm 83:1-4)

5. Israel to Approve 4,300 Units in Jerusalem - Arutz 7

A spokesman said Thursday that Interior Minister Eli Yishai has given final authorization to build 1,600 apartments in Greater Jerusalem and will approve 2,700 more in the coming days. Ministry spokesman Roi Lachmanovich said Thursday that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's office knew the construction plans were moving ahead. Israeli construction in Jerusalem is likely to rile the Palestinian Authority, that claims it as its future capital, but Israel -- that has exercised de jure sovreignty in the city since 27 June 1967 -- has said it will remain the undivided and eternal capital of the Jewish state . . . 6. Ahmadinejad: Iran will respond 'decisively' to U.S., Israel attacks - Ha'aretz

Iranian president tells Russia Today news network that although Iran would retaliate harshly in the event of attack, there is no reason to launch a strike against the Islamic republic.

Is Being A Christian A Liability?

On "Meet The Press" Sunday, NBC's David Gregory peppered Michele Bachmann with questions about her faith. At one point, Gregory asked, "Would God guide your decisions that you would make as president of the United States?" The interview was a media inquisition.

There is no religious test for public office in America. But our left-wing secular media is doing its best to impose one. Evangelical Christians will be mocked by our media elites and made to look naïve at best or insane at worst.

This is nothing new. During the 2000 campaign, the media went ballistic when George W. Bush and I stated in a debate that Jesus Christ was the most influential individual in our lives.

Time and time again, during my campaign in the 2000 primaries, I ran into bright teenagers who suggested that my faith disqualified me from running. They had been brainwashed into believing that the "separation of church and state" required our public officials to be agnostic. The media are subtly hinting that Bachmann, Rick Perry and any other conservative who takes their faith seriously are unqualified to be president.

Can you imagine Gregory or another talking head subjecting a Muslim candidate to such questions? The same media that is so concerned with how Michele Bachmann's faith will intrude into public life applauds when Muslims demand the right to build a mosque at Ground Zero.

The hypocrisy is unbelievable. The liberal media went out of its way to reassure Americans that Barack Hussein Obama was a Christian. And while the media elites are so curious about the faith of Michele Bachmann, they had virtually no interest in investigating what Obama learned as he sat in Jeremiah Wright's church for 20 years. Moreover, they never question the legitimacy of the Religious Left when it misquotes the Bible chapter and verse in support of its socialist agenda.
Whatever happens in this campaign, the media's war on faith -- their continued attempts to force Christianity into the closet -- is very dangerous for our republic. This nation was founded on the belief that liberty comes from God, not government. Further marginalizing and dividing Americans only contributes to political polarization. (Gary Bauer)

- In addition to praying over this report, we do encourage you to take action. When you see a report on the news that seems to be biased, don't just sit there . . . call the station and register your concern. Or go to their website and send them an email. In both cases, please let it be known that you are taking note of their sponsors . . . enough said. As we are now moving into the Election Cycle for 2012, it is more important than ever that the media -- the "fourth estate" -- hear your voice. Pray, and take aciton. Amen!

A Special Report on Last Week's News

Written by Laura Densmore

Hebrew Nation News

August 14, 2011

Used with permission . . .

Dear Sara,

Greetings to the Hebrew Nation community! This SPECIAL REPORT of Hebrew Nation News focuses on the National and Global economy with the resulting social unrest that is now rising up. The social unrest is not just in the Arab states, but now also involves Western nations. Massive protests have swept across Israel, have moved across Britain and are now beginning to involve some cities in the US. How are we to live in these perilous and uncertain times?

"A renewed command I give to you, that you love one another as I have loved you that you also love one another. By this shall all know that you are My taught ones, if you have love for one another." (John 13: 34-35)

In these days, there is much confusion, anger, uncertainty and fear. This can be the motivation to take to the streets in protests. Find someone to blame and get angry about it. We need to walk in Yahweh's peace and be strong in these days, walking out our faith in practical ways.

"This is my command, that you love one another as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this: that one should lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do whatever I command you." (John 15: 12-14)

"In the last days, perilous times shall come. For men shall be loves of self, lovers of silver, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, thankless, wrong-doers, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, haters of good, betrayers, reckless, puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of Elohim . . ." (2 Tim. 3:1-4)

What will distinguish true believers in Yeshua Messiah? When we show love one to another in practical ways, by sharing our resources with those who have not prepared. By showing kindness and love to those who are in fear and confusion. By walking in Yah's courage, His strength and His peace in the midst of these perilous times.

"And we have the prophetic word made more certain, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts." (2 Peter 1:19)
As the time of darkness descends upon the earth, may we hold onto the words of Yeshua, walk in His commands, love Abba and love one another deeply. May we shine as bright stars in the darkness of the black sky until the Morning Star, our beloved Messiah Yeshua rises and returns at the dawn of a new day!

Blessings and shalom,

Laura Densmore

The Economy in the News:

Major Headlnes from Last Week's News

1. Europe on Brink of Financial Collapse

Europe is a "train wreck" and on the "brink of a major financial crisis," Scott Minerd, CIO of the fixed-income firm Guggenheim Partners, told CNBC Tuesday."The way Europe is operating right now, it's what I called recently 'cognitive dissonance,'" Minerd said, or "basically doing the same thing thinking they're going to get a different outcome." "They keep throwing more and more liquidity at it thinking it's going to get better and it's not," he added. Europe fails to recognize that it has a "structural problem, not a liquidity problem." 2. Wall Street Plunges in Worst Sell off in Years

Investors fled Wall Street in the worst stock-market selloff since the depths of the Great Recession in early 2009 in what has turned into a full-fledged correction. The Dow and the S&P tumbled more than 4 percent on Thursday and the Nasdaq lost 5 percent on fear the United States is staring at another recession and that Europe's sovereign debt crisis is swallowing two of its largest economies.

Analysts predicted further losses even though stocks have fallen on nine of the last 10 days. Two-year Treasury yields fell to a record low as investors sought safety in short-term government bonds. (Reuters) Read more

3. America's Credit Rating Downgraded by S&P

Friday night (August 5), after another wild day on Wall Street, the Standard & Poor (S&P) ratings agency made good on its three month old warning and downgraded the credit rating of the US for the first time since it was granted in1917. The move from AAA to AA+ reflected the ratings agency's contention that "difficulties in bredging the gulf between political partices" which resulted in a compromise to reduce the nation's debt by $2trillion didn't go far enough. "Political brinksmanship" made the ability of the US to confront its growing debt problem "less stable, less effective and less predictable," the agency contended. (Front Page Magazine) Read more.

4. "We can always print more money": Alan Greenspan

Slip of the tongue exposes the truth of the matter

Alan Greenspan was recently interviewed on "Meet the Press". When asked "Are US Treasury bonds still safe to invest in?" he came out and exposed the truth of the matter with a "slip of the tongue".

5. China Comments on US Debt

The United States and Europe must summon the political courage to defuse their debt woes or global economic recovery will be threatened, Chinese official media said on Monday, reflecting the pressures on Beijing with its big stash of dollar assets.

A commentary in the People's Daily newspaper, the chief mouthpiece of China's ruling Communist Party, said the troubles facing the United States and European Union grew out of the political dysfunctions of the Western democracies.

"It must be understood that if the U.S., Europe and other advanced economies fail to shoulder their responsibility and continue their incessant messing around over selfish interests, this will seriously impede stable development of the global economy," the paper said.

6. China Demands New Global Currency

In China, which holds large amounts of US debt, a commentary published by the official Xinhua news agency was critical of the US government and questioned whether the US dollar should continue to be the global reserve currency. "China, the largest creditor of the world's sole superpower, has every right now to demand the US to address its structural debt problems and ensure the safety of China's dollar assets," the commentary said. Social Unrest Sweeps the World Fueled by Weakend Global Economy

1. London Riots: British Capital in Chaos

All of England was preparing for Wednesday night, hoping that darkness will not again bring the wave of destruction it has over the past five datgy. On Monday and Tuesday, demonstrators threw firebombs at police officers and torched property, cars and London city buses. In Tottenham, where the violence started Saturday night, rioters smashed store windows and burned buildings to the ground. Rioting and looting has been continuing in the british capital since the weekend, when angry citizens of Tottenham martch ot police headquarters to protest the fatal shooting of 29 year old Mark Duggan. The anarchy then spread to Hackney, Peckham and Lewisham on Monday afternoon and by night fall reached the neighborhoods of Ealing, Camden and Croydon. Nearly 800 people have been arrested in London at last report. (International Business Times) See amazing photos and article here.

2. Israel: Protests for Social Justice Sweep the Country

What started as a local protest against the skyrocketing housing market in Tel-Aviv has escalated into the largest public uprising that the state of Israel has ever witnessed. The movement for social justice spurred tent cities in major metropolitan hubs across the country. One out of every 20 Israelis took to the streets in last week's massive protest. (Global Voices) Read more.

What does it mean? An Israeli intercessor states: "We also need to keep in mind the nature of the wicked spirits, which have been on the move (particularly in the Middle East) over the past several months (i.e. the Arab Spring). The demons of MOB RULE, PERCEIVED VICTIMICATION, OFFENSE, ENTITLEMENT, BLAME, VIOLENCE, etc, have operated through vulnerable, volatile human beings. These demonic powers have used available, inflamed human flesh to run several governments out of power in the region. I suspect this is what is afoot in Israel right now. Satan is now making an end run at the people of Israel . . . dividing them . . . causing them to abandon reason and truth in their fear and anger . . . causing them to form unholy alliances and wrong conclusions . . . increasing the level of opportunity for Israel's enemies. The three main, dark, end time demonic entities can be seen making a move upon the State of Israel right now. These main demons in operation are Balaam, Jezebel and Korah. We need to be praying.

What Does It Mean?

A Commentary by Laura Densmore

What does it mean? We know that an authoritarian "beast" system will arise during the end of days; his feet of iron and clay will "trample" on the saints. This has been prophesied in many places throughout the bible. We are not going to stop the authoritarian beast system from arising. It is part of Yahweh's end of days game plan. How are we to respond to the banking corruption? How do we respond as see global economy sinking like the Titanic? May we be guided by the scriptures:
"And the beast I saw was like a leopard, and his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion...And it was given to him to fight with the set apart ones and to overcome them. And authority was given to him over every tribe and tongue and nation...If anyone has an ear, let him hear. He who brings into captivity shall go into captivity, he who kills with the sword has to be killed with the sword....(Revelation 13: 2,7,9,10)

Those who fight with the sword will die by the sword. Are we are on the threshold of stepping into the final 7 yr tribulation period? If so, what will tribulation saints be doing? What will their lifestyle look like?

Here is the perseverance of the saints who keep the commandments of Elohim and their belief in Yeshua. (Rev 14:12)

Israel on the brink of war

For the past few weeks, I have been hearing from high-level sources in Jerusalem that the nation of Israel is preparing for war. The belief is that once the UN vote takes place on a unilateral declaration of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital city, war will break out. Israel is preparing to be attacked by its neighbors-not only the Palestinian terrorists of Hamas and Fatah, but Hezbollah, armed and funded by Syria and Lebanon, and perhaps even troops from Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, and Iran as well.

The enemies of Israel are encouraged by the lack of support from America and Hussein Obama for the Jewish state, and they believe this is their moment to accomplish their long-held goal to destroy Israel. I was in the Holy Land during the last outbreak of war. I held weeping survivors in my arms and comforted them and prayed with young soldiers before they went into battle. I was there as your ambassador to help the Jewish people in their time of great need. I know firsthand what an awful tragedy a new round of war will bring.

My sources indicate that public support expressed by the Arab League for UN recognition of Palestine poses a grave risk because of the leverage of the oil nations over Europe. Europe imports most of its oil, and in addition, the vast oil wealth of the Arab Gulf states is coveted by the European Union to help them survive their current financial crisis. The threat Israel faces is not just a meaningless UN vote; it is a life and death struggle for survival...and Israel's enemies are focused and fully committed to their evil plan.

Understand this clearly-every nation and individual that supports the United Nations and Obama Administration plan to curse Israel and steal from her the land God promised the Jews as an eternal possession will suffer His chastisement and judgment. Every nation and individual that opposes this plan and stands with Israel as a blessing to her will enjoy His blessing. . . .

The Good News Corner:

Jewish "Guardians" Keep London Streets Safe

The Shomrim ("guardians"), a volunteer-based Jewish organization, has been keeping London's Jewish neighborhoods safe in cooperation with Scotland Yard for years. Now, with the riots in the British capital, their work has become doubly important. This week they have already managed to thwart looting attempts in one of the Jewish neighborhoods in an operation befitting of a Hollywood blockbuster action movie. "We decided to go out and show a presence in the streets," Gary Ost chief executive of Shomrim North-West London told Ynet.

"We realized that people start riots when there is no police presence on the scene, and then it is hard to control them, so we wanted to stop it in the Jewish neighborhoods before it gets started."

On an average day, Ost says the volunteers responded to 300 calls-from break-ins and burglaries to missing children. Yet since the riots erupted, the phone has not stopped ringing. "It started as a small protest in Tottenham, which is ten minutes away from the haredi [Orthodox] neighborhood of Stamford Hill. Then some teenage boys began to riot and burnt three police cars and a bus. Then the looting started," Ost noted.

"I myself saw some guys walking down the street with laptops and plasma screens on their shoulders. The police was unprepared; they were scared to come out."

In contrast, the Jewish organization had a different response. The Shomrim decided to expand their operation, work around the clock on two 30-men shifts that patrol the Jewish neighborhoods in northwest London including Golders Green and Finchley. "We sat down with the police chiefs on Saturday night [August 6] and on Wednesday [August 3] and exchanged information," Ost added.
Since the start of the riots the Shomrim callers have expanded to include concerned citizens outside of the Jewish community. A few nights ago the Shomrim received a call alerting them to a case of looting in the area:

"Someone called us and said they had witnessed a break in at a store. They described the vehicle including license number and we headed out. We arrived at the scene at 3 am with four cars and Kevlar vests at the ready. One of the guys identified the car, so as we were driving, we slowly surrounded the vehicle on all sides . . ."

The local police force has been heaping praise on the volunteers who have speedily returned to their posts-both as Shomrim volunteers and as professionals in their field.

"We all volunteer for the organization. Among us, you can find lawyers, accountants, and the real-estate sector," said Ost. Since Saturday we have been working our day jobs and keeping watch at night, with barely any time for sleep. I'm very tired, but we have a commitment to our community, and it needs to be kept safe
