The Daily Brief - Friday, August 12, 2011

"Many are the sorrows of the wicked, But he who trusts in the LORD, loving kindness shall surround him." (Psalm 32:10)

The Daily Brief

1. Appeals Court rules against Obama Healthcare Law - Reuters

WASHINGTON - An appeals court ruled on Friday that the Marxist ideology leaning Obama healthcare law requiring Americans to buy healthcare insurance or face a penalty was unconstitutional, a blow to Obama :).

- Father, we ask that You make it clear to all what all the provisions of this law would mean for all Americans. We ask that the secret things in this bill would be revealed, and that this law would be repealed, in favor of one that would benefit all Americans. We ask that a spirit of righteousness and moral clarity would overwhelm the hearts of our lawmakers. May they stop making "back room deals" and their dealings become known to all. We ask for Godly men and women to run for public office, and that You would give them wisdom and integrity and promote them, for Your name's sake and for the good of our nation. Amen.

- "For there is nothing hidden which will not be revealed, nor has anything been kept secret but that it should come to light." (Mark 4:22)

2. All 6 Democrats on Deficit-Reduction Panel Earned 'F's From Taxpayers' Union - CNS News

All six Democrats that have been assigned to the special joint congressional committee that will recommend means for cutting the nation's anticipated spending by $1.5 trillion over the next ten years compiled voting records last year that earned them grades of "F" from the National Taxpayers Union (NTU).

- Lord, our hearts are heavy as we see those chosen to be on the Deficit-Reduction Panel, on the Democrat side, to be not only extremely liberal, but also, it appears, to be irresponsible financially, according to the National Taxpayers' Union. We also see, on the Republican side four of the six are very conservative, and two to be inexperienced in these matters. . . having proposed more spending, than cuts. Lord, we humbly ask You to give these twelve men Your wisdom in these financial matters, and please do a work in their hearts to turn their priority to what is best for the nation as a whole, and not be beholden to any "special interest group", or political party. Please remind them that You are the one who sets up kings and takes them down. May their hearts turn toward the patriotism that our Founding Fathers displayed when they put their lives on the line for freedom! May they have the courage to do the same for this nation's financial freedom! Amen.

- "He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding!" (Daniel 2:21)

3. Postal Service proposes cutting 120,000 jobs, pulling out of health-care plan - Washingon Post

The financially troubled U.S. Postal Service is seeking to reduce its workforce by 20 percent, including through layoffs now prohibited by union contracts, and to withdraw its employees from existing health and retirement plans, instead creating its own benefit programs specifically for postal employees. If approved by Congress, the changes could have major ramifications for federal workers across the government.

- Father, we know that many individuals and businesses are experiencing financial hardships, but it seems that the Postal Service has an extended record of inefficiency and financial need. If it would be more efficient and advantageous to privatize the postal service, then we ask that You would show that to the Postmaster General, and they would then act on that information, to stop this constant drain on our economy. In Your Name, Amen.

- "So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches? And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else's property, who will give you property of your own?" (Luke 16:11,12)

4. Most Americans say U.S. on wrong track: Reuters/poll - Reuters

Economic fears are weighing heavily on Americans, with a large majority saying the United States is on the wrong track and nearly half believing the worst is yet to come, a Reuters poll said Wednesday.

- Lord, we thank you that Americans are becoming dissatisfied with false promises. We pray that You would use this environment of "fear" to turn hearts to you as their Source! We pray that they would call upon Your name in the day of trouble, and that You would hear them and reveal Yourself to them as Saviour, and as a Rock of Stability in uncertain times. May they look to You for wisdom and favor, and Your direction. You are the Way, the Truth and the Life! Amen.

- "Men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth." (Lk. 21:26) "Those who trust in their riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf." (Ps. 49:6)

5. US military to launch fastest-ever plane - UK Guardian

By the time you finish reading this sentence, the Falcon HTV-2, the fastest plane ever built, could have flown 18 miles. It would get from London to Sydney in less than an hour, while withstanding temperatures of almost 2,000C, hotter than the melting point of steel.

- Thank you, Abba, for giving technology like this to our nation to use for righteous purposes! We pray that those involved in the production of this military jet would be full of integrity and recognize Your hand of blessing in its development. We praise You for it! Amen!

- "Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people He chose for His inheritance." (Ps. 33:12)

6. Group Pushes To 'Let Bert And Ernie Get Married' On Sesame Street
- CBS News; Los Angeles

Will the Children's Television Workshop give way to perverted same-sex puppet love?

An online campaign is calling for the producers of TV's "Sesame Street" to allow characters Bert and Ernie to get married in an attempt to "put an end to the bullying and suicides of LGBT youth", according to the group's Facebook page. Read more.

- Lord, we ask that parents across the nation will be outraged that the liberal, left wing television networks are trying to sabotage our children with their own evil agenda. We know that they wish to portray homosexuality as a "normal" alternative lifestyle to our children, and undermine our authority as parents and the authority of Your Word. They have already affected public school curriculums, and wish to extend this wrong thinking to all children, not just those in the public school system, by putting the gay lifestyle on television "kid shows" as being okay. We pray that the Children's Television Workshop will be stopped in its tracks by You, and by outraged parents, and we thank You for doing that! Amen.

- "Thorns and snares are in the way of the perverse: He that keepeth his soul shall be far from them. Train up a child in the way he should go, And even when he is old he will not depart from it." (Proverbs 22:5,6) "If anyone causes one of these little ones-those who believe in me-to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea." (Mt. 18:6)

- Editorial note: it has come to our attention that there are major churches in Hollywood that are promoting and teaching the gay lifestyle as "normal," saying that "God loves everyone." Well, He DOES love everyone, which is why He went to the Cross, to forgive us our sin, and to bring us back into right standing with Him. Scripture is clear: perversion is sin. Cry out before the Throne of Grace, asking our Lord to forgive those pastors in the pulpits in Hollywood -- male and female -- for denying the Gospel of Jesus Christ, teaching instead a false gospel that will lead souls into an eternity without Him. May God have mercy on these souls!

- "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination." (Lev. 18:22)

7. Drought deepens in South; Texas driest in century - Reuters

A devastating drought deepened over the last week in many areas, spreading through more of the Plains and going into the Midwest as triple-digit temperatures baked already thirsty crops and livestock.

- Abba, we thank You so much for the blessing of rain, which we in Oklahoma, experienced these last few days. Still our land is dry and needs more. We ask You, O Lord, to pour out the waters upon all the statest that need it on their dry, parched land, and moderate the heat that has been so intense. Again, we repent for our own sins and those of our nation, and we call on Your mercies, which are new every morning! Please send, not only the natural rain, but Your spiritual rain as well, "the former and latter rains together", bringing revival both physically and spiritually. In Your precious Name, Amen!

- "And the Lord shall guide you continually and satisfy you in drought and in dry places and make strong your bones. And you shall be like a watered garden and like a spring of water whose waters fail not." (Isa. 58:11)

Ramadan and revisionist (politically correct) history

Obama issued a statement commemorating Ramadan for American cultic inspired Moslems. He also said he would host an Iftar dinner at the White House. The State Department on July 29 released a history lesson entitled "Thomas Jefferson's Iftar," following up on the Obama's statements that Thomas Jefferson held the first Iftar at the White House. Not exactly the truth. [In others words - "another twisted Obama lie."] During Jefferson's presidency, there was a huge problem with Islamic pirates pillaging American ships and enslaving American men and women. An Islamic ambassador was invited to the White House to discuss it over dinner. It happened during Ramadan in 1805. Jefferson moved the dinner time to sunset in deference to the ambassador's religion.
Here is the true history: The Barbary pirates were Islamic terrorists from Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya. They were attacking American ships and holding Christian Americans as slaves. In 1786, future presidents Thomas Jefferson and John Adams, ambassadors to France and Britain, respectively, met with the Libyan ambassador to Britain Sidi Adja to discuss peace. Adja told them, "that it was written in their Koran, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as prisoners, and that every Muslim who should be slain in battle was sure to go to Paradise."

Adam's son, President John Quincy Adams wrote of Mohammed in the 1827 American Annual Register: "...combining the powers of transcendent genius with the preternatural energy of a fanatic and the fraudulent spirit of an impostor, proclaimed himself as a messenger from heaven, and spread desolation and delusion over an extensive portion of the earth...He poisoned the sources of human felicity at the fountain, by degrading the condition of the female sex, and the allowance of polygamy; and he declared undistinguishing and exterminating war as part of his religion against all the rest of mankind. The essence of his doctrine was violence and lust; to exalt the brutal over the spiritual part of human nature."

Adams spoke of the 1,200 year war between Christianity and Islam: "That war is yet flagrant; nor can it cease but by the extincture of that impostor, which has been permitted by Providence to prolong the degeneracy of man. While the merciless and dissolute are encouraged to furnish motives to human action, there never can be peace on earth and good will toward men." Then Adams waxed prophetic by quoting from Genesis 16:11, 12, "Behold, thou art with child, and shall bear a son, and shall call his name Ishmael;...and he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him." Not quite the politically correct history revisionism the White House portrays as the religion of peace.

Pelosi's Picks

(Yesterday) House Democrat Leader Nancy Pelosi announced her picks for the deficit reduction super committee. Pelosi chose Representatives James Clyburn (D-SC), Xavier Becerra (D-CA) and Chris Van Hollen (D-MD).

All three trusted Pelosi loyalists. Clyburn is a member of the House Democrat leaderhip. Van Hollen is the ranking Democrat on the House Budget Committee, and was the previous chairman of the Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee. Becerra is a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus. (Gary Bauer)

Hollywood To The Rescue

Rep. Peter King, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, is calling for an investigation of the film. In a letter to the inspectors general of the Defense Department and the CIA, Rep. King noted that top military officials were alarmed that so much information about the bin Laden raid became public so quickly. Consider this excerpt from King's letter:

"Special Operations Command's Admiral Eric Olson stated that the May 1st raid 'was successful because nobody talked about it before, and if we want to preserve this capability nobody better talk about it after,' and that his operators' '15 minutes of fame lasted about 14 minutes too long.' . . .

Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Admiral Michael Mullen stated that 'It is time to stop talking,' as 'We have gotten to a point where we are close to jeopardizing the precision capability that we have, and we can't afford to do that.' . . .

Former Defense Secretary Robert Gates stated that 'Too many people in too many places are talking too much about this operation, and when so much detail is available it makes that both more difficult and riskier' for such missions in the future."

They are right to be concerned about our national security. But it seems some at the White House and in Hollywood have other concerns. Guess when the "Obama Gets bin Laden" film is scheduled for release? October 12th. Not October 12, 2011, but next October -- one month before the election. As Dowd writes, the movie's release is "perfectly timed to give a home-stretch boost to a campaign that has grown tougher." (Gary Bauer)

- Offer a prayer that this investigation will be pursued and that every fact of this matter will come to light. We must protect our Seals; they are one of our most valuable assets . . . serving on the front lines of our national defense. Pray!

- "For nothing is hidden, except to be revealed; nor has anything been secret, but that it would come to light." (Mark 4:22)

To read more about the ceremony, go here.
To read more about the Humanist Congress, go here.

- Offer a prayer of repentance that the Body of Christ has not been able to reach the next generation as actively as the atheists and the humanists are doing. Yes, we have seen inroads of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ spreading among our youth, but there is much, much more to be done yet.

Please ask our Lord to protect the minds of the 10,000 young people who are pledging allegiance to atheism. Call forth for "10,000 praying Grandmas" who would each adopt one of these youth in prayer, until each one is led to find the light of Christ. Pray!

- "But He bears patiently with you, His desire being that no one should perish but that all should come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9)

The Good News Corner:

Taking Ames: GOP Candidates Strong on Marriage

Six of the eight presidential hopefuls who took the stage Thursday evening for the FOX News/Washington Examiner/Iowa GOP primary debate specifically stated their position on marriage heading into the 2012 election season -- and four of those six were strongly in favor of the traditional kind.

Former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman reiterated his support for same-sex civil unions and Texas Rep. Ron Paul said the matter should be left to each state to decide -- though he personally believes it should be only between one man and one woman. But former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann all declared their support for a Federal Marriage Amendment (FMA) to the U.S. Constitution, which if passed would nullify same-sex marriage laws nationwide.

All three, as well as former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, who also took part in Thursday's debate, have signed a pledge put forth by the National Organization for Marriage promoting the FMA.

"We can't have 50 marriage laws," Santorum said in response to Paul's states'-rights argument. "I will come to the states and fight" against "transforming marriage."

The remaining two candidates at the debate were fellow Georgians: former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich and businessman Herman Cain. (CitizenLink)
