Sunday, October 3, 2010 - Election Day Prayer Vigil
Praying Through 2 Chronicles 7:14

WEEK TWO

[This five-part series for an Election Day Prayer Vigil has been developed by Mary Fox Murphy, Founder and President, Christian Women's Outreach, in Stillwater, OK.

In lieu of offerings, Mary is simply asking that we share this prayer strategy with others in our own network of friends. Thank you, Mary!]

A NOTE FROM CHPP:

We have been truly blessed by the TREMENDOUS RESPONSE we have seen to Mary's call for prayers, following the guidelines of 2 Chronicles 7:14.

We join all of you in searching our hearts before our Lord, in advance of the congressional elections on Nov. 2, for it is written that judgment must surely begin in the house of the Lord. (I Peter 4:17)
As we seek His face, we ask Him, indeed, to forgive our sin, and to heal our land. Amen.

INTRODUCTION

Praying Through 2 Chronicles 7:14

By Mary Fox Murphy

In searching the depths of my heart and soul and seeking the Lord, I believe there may be a reason we are not victorious in our pursuit for spiritual change in this nation. I think we all stand right now LOOKING FOR TRUE HOPE AND CHANGE FOR THIS NATION. I sincerely ask you to pray about joining with me in this PRAYER VIGIL.

Blessings, Mary

PRAYER VIGIL:
SEPTEMBER 26 - OCTOBER 24, 2010

There are numerous prayer initiatives right now. Prayer leaders across the nation are asking you to PRAY FOR THE USA. One of those will be right for you. I am also proposing one to begin Sept. 26 and ending on Sunday, Oct. 24.

If you join with us for the next five weeks, I will send out PRAYER POINTS for each week. This will not be like most of those that are being suggested.

I contend that the Body of Christ must be well (in right standing with the Father) for God to HEAL OUR LAND. Each week the PRAYER POINTS will follow II Chronicles 7:14.

It is my strong belief that God wants His Body in ONE ACCORD AND WELL.

If we do this as a BODY, He will do one of two things.

1. He will either HEAL OUR LAND.
2. Or He will bring His Cleansing to America.

But, if you are His, He will protect you through whatever is in our future.
There is no guarantee that God will heal our land. The sins of this nation may be too raw, too deep, too insidious and too overt for Him to stay His Hand of Judgment. He has ways and means of cleansing a nation's sins. Throughout Biblical history we see when, where, and how God cleanses cultures, nations, and people groups. We are no exception. This may be our last opportunity to make a change in this nation.

If you do not join this prayer initiative, then please join in one of the others to PRAY FOR THE USA.
MAY GOD'S GRACE AND MERCY BE WITH YOU THROUGH THESE VERY PERILOUS SPIRITUAL TIMES AND MAY HE BLESS YOU GREATLY . . .
AND STRENGTHEN YOU TO STAND.

Prayer Vigil: WEEK TWO

Sunday, Oct. 3 - Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010

Praying Through 2 Chronicles 7:14

2 Chr 7:14 "if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land."

PRAYER FOCUS FOR THE WEEK:

"Will HUMBLE themselves . . . . "

Humility is the first and most important step of surrendering to God and realizing who He is and who we are in Him. Humility is simply agreeing with the Word of God and submitting to it. God rewards the humble and repentant. Humility is not easy for Americans. Pray that it will be easy for His Body to understand this virtue and come into agreement with 11 Chron. 7:14.

According to the scriptures, the virtue of HUMILITY is directly connected to

• Personal Deliverance by the Lord. Job 22:29, 11 Chron. 12:12
• Rewards from the Lord. Prov. 18:12
• Healing from the Lord. 11 Chron. 33:12
• Honoring the individual by the Lord. 1 Peter 5: 5, 6
• Saving nations by His Hand. 11 Chron. 12:6, 7
• Rewards through corporate prayer by nations 11 Chron. 7:14, 11 Chron. 32: 26
• Grace given because of humility 1 Peter 5: 6
• The Lord hearing the prayers of the humble 11 Chron. 34:27

Humility brings FAVOR WITH GOD

Prayer Points: WEEK TWO

PRAYER FOCUS FOR THE WEEK:

"Will HUMBLE themselves . . "

1. Pray that believers will submit to HUMILITY before the Lord and honor Him with their lives. Pray that ungodly carnal and spiritual pride and arrogance will be destroyed in every believer so that they are able to HUMBLE themselves before the Lord.

Proverbs 22:4 By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honor, and life.

Proverbs. 18:12 Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honor is humility.

2. Pray that the Bride of Christ will come into submission with a tender heart before the Lord and ask forgiveness for her own sins and the sins of the nation.

11 Chron. 34:27 Because your heart was tender, and you did humble yourself before God, when you heard His words against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, and humbled yourself before Me, and did rend your clothes, and weep before Me; I have even heard thee also, says the Lord.

3. Pray that not one believer thinks of himself or herself any more important than the other. Pray that each one can find his or her part in the Body and fulfill the call upon his life.

Rom. 12:3 for I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

4. Pray that no false humility can to be found in a true follower of Jesus Christ.

Job 22:29 When men are cast down, then thou shall say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.

5. Pray that for the sake of the nation, every believer will submit to humility before the Lord to fulfill 11Chron. 7:14 and ask the Lord to HEAL OUR LAND. Pray that a truly contrite and repentant heart beats within each believer.

11 Chron. 12:6, 7 Where upon the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, The Lord is righteousness. And when the Lord saw that they humbled themselves the word of the Lord came to Shemaiah saying, They have humbled themselves; therefore I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance; and my wrath shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.

11Chron. 12:12 And when he humbled himself, the wrath of the Lord turned from him, that He would not destroy him altogether: and also in Judah things went well.

6. Pray that the religious spirit that keeps the Body of Christ in bondage will be destroyed through corporate spiritual warfare. Pray that the Army of God can be made whole and come into one accord to strategically and effectively pray for this nation.

1 Peter 5: 5, 6 Likewise, ye younger, submit your selves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another and be clothed with humility: for God resists the proud, and gives grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time: (NKJV)

7. Pray that everyone who names Christ as Savior will show the greatest sign of humility by submitting their individual will to the Will of the Father. Pray that all believers can move from a "self centered" position into one that is truly "Christ centered."

Matt 6:10. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Galatians 6:14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

Thank you for praying with us this week. I know that the committed prayers of the faithful will avail much.
