The Daily Brief

1. Voter Fraud Exposed - Intercessors for America

With the November elections three weeks away, watchdog groups are exposing voter registration fraud on a widespread scale. Voter fraud has become a hot issue since the Justice Department dropped its voter intimidation case involving the New Black Panther Party and its involvement in the 2008 elections. The Justice Department has also been accused of failing to pursue cases to purge state voter rolls.

Citizen watchdog group True the Vote spent a year investigating voter fraud in Texas, finding thousands of fraudulent registrations. The group has trained volunteers to work the polls on election day, and has received requests from 40 states for training on investigating voter fraud.

• Pray for truth to come to light, and for the election process to be fair, honest, and lawful.

"For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open." (Mark 4:22)

2. Mortgage Damage Spreads - Fox News

The unfolding foreclosure-processing debacle is causing bank stocks to slide and putting millions of delinquent borrowers in limbo. In essence, fast-paced modern finance is colliding with the much slower machinery of the U.S. legal system. But how disruptive the crisis ultimately becomes - for homeowners, the housing market and the broader economy - depends on how quickly a number of technical problems and legal challenges are resolved in the months ahead. While finance aims for efficiency and maximized profits, the courts demand due process.

• Lord, we pray this foreclosure fiasco will be resolved in good fashion. Bring relief to the people who were foreclosed unjustly. Let this problem be resolved quickly and smoothly without confusion.

For wisdom is a defense as money is a defense, but the excellence of knowledge is that wisdom gives life to those who have it. (Ecclesiastes 7:12)

3. Marines Chief Warns Most Are Uncomfortable Serving With Openly Gay Troops - Fox News

As many as 95 percent of Marines would be uncomfortable serving alongside openly gay troops, the retiring commandant of the Marine Corps told Fox News in an exclusive interview. Gen. James Conway was the first member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to speak out against a repeal earlier this year after Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Joint Chiefs Chairman Admiral Mike Mullen publicly endorsed President Obama's desire to change the law. The White House felt that it had to be decided by Congress.

"I think that the Congress represents the will of the people," Gen. Conway said. "And we are a nation of laws. The military abides by the laws. And I think we would be much more comfortable, if it's going to change, it comes as a result of the change to the law, not an independent judicial determination in a district somewhere in California."

• Lord, we pray against this ruling, which will place more burdens on our troops. Supply our troops with all they need, so they will not be hindered in any way. Give us wise leaders in all posts.

The way of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, But He loves him who follows righteousness. (Proverbs 15:8)

4. Pentagon Bracing for New WikiLeaks Release - Breitbart

The Pentagon scoured through an Iraq war database Monday to prepare for potential fallout from an expected release by WikiLeaks of some 400,000 secret military reports. The massive release, possibly early this week, is set to dwarf the whistleblower website's publication of 77,000 classified US military documents on the war in Afghanistan in July, including the names of Afghan informants and other details from raw intelligence reports. Another 15,000 are due out soon.

In order to prepare for the anticipated release of sensitive intelligence on the US-led Iraq war, officials set up a 120-person taskforce several weeks ago to comb through the database and "determine what the possible impacts might be," said Colonel David Lapan, a Pentagon spokesman. The Department of Defense is concerned the leak compiles "significant activities" from the war, which include incidents such as known attacks against coalition troops, Iraqi security forces, civilians or infrastructure in the country.

• Lord, we pray that somehow this group that is revealing our secrets will be stopped permanently . We pray that no more leaks from inside our nation will take place to aid the terrorists. Block them immediately.

When you go to war in your land against the enemy who oppresses you, then you shall sound an alarm with the trumpets, and you will be remembered before the Lord your God, and you will be saved from your enemies. (Numbers 10:9)

5. Some Republican House Leaders Push Compromise - Fox News

A number of House Republicans, including some who are likely to be in leadership, are pushing a post-election strategy to push compromise in order to secure concrete legislation, with the goal of showing they can translate principles into action., The approach stands in contrast to the Senate, where Republican nominees including Kentucky's Rand Paul and Nevada's Sharron Angle more clearly represent the anti-establishment instincts of the tea-party movement. Rep. Bob Inglis of South Carolina, who lost his Republican primary to a challenge from the right, compared the GOP candidates to surfers using a tea-party wave to reach the shore. Once they arrive, he said, many will act like the lawmakers they replaced.

Under the leadership of Rep. Kevin McCarthy, a rising star, the GOP has recruited a slate of House candidates with an array of political experience, suggesting they know how to work within the strictures of government. In many cases, these aspirants boast of their record of working with Democrats.

• Lord, these compromising leaders are those who are part of the reason our nation is in economic dishevel. We pray that leaders like McCarthy, Cantor, and Ryan will not be able to water down or abandon the people's will for strong reform. Only give us true leaders willing and determined to make those necessary changes.

Do not put your trust in princes, Nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help. His spirit departs, he returns to his earth; In that very day his plans perish. (Psalms 146:3, 4)

6. Immigration Cases Being Tossed by the Hundreds - Chron

In the month after Homeland Security officials started a review of Houston's crowded immigration court docket, where hearings are now being scheduled into 2012, immigration judges dismissed more than 200 cases, an increase of more than 700 percent from the prior month, new data shows. The dismissals essentially mean that officials are no longer actively trying to remove defendants through the immigration court system, though they can refile such charges at a later date. But critics still charge that the dismissals show the government is not enforcing the law.

"When you have this kind of mass dismissal, it sends a very clear message to illegal immigrants, and to society at large, that the government is not serious about enforcing the laws," said Mark Krikorian, executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies, an organization that advocates for stricter border controls.

• Lord, we pray these dismissals will stop, and our courts will provide a solution on how to process these hearings faster - not dismiss these cases. Let more be deported who are here illegally.

Because they rebelled against the words of God, and despised the counsel of the Most High, Therefore He brought down their heart with labor; they fell down, and there was none to help. (Psalms 107:11, 12)

7. Gallup Finds U.S. Unemployment at 10.0% in Mid-October - Gallup

Unemployment, as measured by Gallup without seasonal adjustment, is at 10.0% in mid-October -- essentially the same as the 10.1% at the end of September but up sharply from 9.4% in mid-September and 9.3% at the end of August. This mid-month measurement confirms the late September surge in joblessness that should be reflected in the government's Nov. 5 unemployment report. Certain groups continue to fare worse than the national average. For example, 14.2% of Americans aged 18 to 29 and 13.8% of those with no college education were unemployed in mid-October.

In addition to seasonal adjustments, the official unemployment rate is likely to be held down by a continued exodus of people from the workforce. It is easy for potential workers to become discouraged when the unemployment rate is expected to remain above 9% through the end of 2011.

• Lord, we pray people will see a definite need for change in the officials currently in office, who have caused this high unemployment. Help the new officials to make wise decisions that will increase jobs and supports businesses.

"And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." (John 8:32)

8. Mexican Hit Men Stalk U.S. - The Washington Times

One of the most powerful and dangerous drug gangs in Mexico, it also is known as the Guzman cartel and has been linked to the production, smuggling and distribution of Mexican marijuana and "black tar" heroin. A memo said assassins had been dispatched to the Vekol Valley, a well-established and widely travelled drug-smuggling corridor running north and south across Interstate 8. The valley is a direct link to both the interstate and to Phoenix, giving drug smugglers the option of shipping their goods to California or to major cities both north and east.

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu, whose county includes the valley, told The Washington Times earlier this month that Mexican drug cartels have posted scouts on the high points around the valley to control movement in the area. He said they have radios, optics and "night-vision goggles as good as anything law enforcement has." The sheriff said he asked the Obama administration for 3,000 National Guard soldiers to patrol the border, but got 15 signs along Interstate 8 instead.

• Lord, these drug cartels are now violently working in our border cities and we pray that you will put a hedge of protection around those places. Drive these drug cartels out of the area and cleanse the land.

The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies. (Psalms 18:2, 3)

The Middle East in Focus

This week, for all the headlines cited below, please join us in proclaiming THIS DECREE:

For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto you, "Fear not; I will help you. Fear not, you worm Jacob, and you men of Israel; I will help you," says the LORD, and your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel. (Isaiah 41:14)

1. US, Israel mull Iranian threat - Ynet News

Israeli and American senior officials attended a special meeting in Washington Monday, meant to assess the effectiveness of sanctions taken against Iran and determine future measures which could be imposed on the Islamic Republic in order to compel it to relinquish its nuclear efforts.

2. Netanyahu: Terrorists in Gaza have anti-aircraft missiles - Jerusalem Post

"Today we are experiencing difficulty flying near the Gaza Strip since they have in their possession anti-aircraft missiles," explained Netanyahu. "Imagine that there are no security arrangements, and there will be missiles that can take down an aircraft that is en route to Ben Gurion airport."

3. Netanyahu orders change in loyalty oath to include Jews - Jerusalem Post

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu directed Justice Minister Yaakov Neeman on Monday night to prepare a bill obliging all people seeking Israeli citizenship, including Jews immigrating here under the Law of Return, to pledge allegiance to Israel as a "Jewish, democratic state."

4. UN official: Settlements violate international law - Ynet News

The end of the West Bank settlement construction moratorium was the center of Monday's UN Security Council session, as Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs Oscar Taranco claimed such construction was in violation of International Law.

The Daily Jot

Seek God's righteousness, not salvation in politicians

The federal government is spending more money than you, your children and your grand children can ever afford. During the Bush Administration, the national debt rose $4.9 trillion in eight years. According to the Bureau of Public Debt, the national debt has increased by $3.041 trillion since the current Administration took office less than three years ago. The White House predicts that the national debt will soar by nearly six trillion dollars at the end of this president's first term--that is more than 100 percent the value of the nation's economy, according to analysts at CBS News. By the end of this Administration, the national debt is projected to be $16.5 trillion, or $53,746 for every man, woman and child in America.

To date, since the 9-11 terrorist attacks, the cost of the wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and other items associated with the war on terror has been $1.292 trillion, according to a September 2 report by Amy Belasco, Specialist in US Defense Policy and Budget. Approximately 15% of the increase in national debt since September 2001 has been related to defending America against Islamic terrorism. That seems like a small portion of the debt considering that the war against Islamic aggression--the peaceful religion, mind you--has been ongoing for nearly a decade. Keep in mind, however, that Islamic terrorists were costing Americans billions of dollars in the years leading up to 9-11.

The acceleration in the national debt that has occurred since the last year of the Bush Administration and the first two years of the current Administration is related to economic bailouts--more accurately described as unconstitutional socialism. Given the action of the Federal government, one may assume that the fastest track to a socialistic government is by bankrupting the nation, its economy and its citizens so they are so beholden to the government that freedoms and rights will be forfeited to the government in return for security--government mandated security. The first net in this trap is socialized medicine and healthcare, which is carefully planned to begin years after this economic collapse.

The Media vs. FRC

What's Black and White and Not Read All Over?

People in this country sometimes treat the bias in the media as a recent development. It isn't. As far back as Thomas Jefferson, Americans have struggled to be heard by the press and represented fairly in its pages. "The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them," our third President wrote in 1807, "inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors." It's a centuries-long tussle between the people and press in which both sides have shared a healthy dose of skepticism about the other. But a more recent trend suggests something more menacing.

The media has always had its own agenda, but in the last decade, even the press has found themselves the target of people who are determined to scuttle our great tradition of free expression. On social issues like homosexuality, editors are under pressure to engage in the very thing their institution despises: censorship. . .

In the last two weeks, FRC has had a front row seat to the effort by homosexual activists to intimidate the media into silencing conservatives. When the Washington Post published my op-ed last week about the need for an open discussion about the negative consequences of homosexuality (so that these people might have the freedom to leave the lifestyle), the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) threw a (predictable) fit. They accused the Post of giving me a platform for "anti-gay bullying" and urged readers to flood the paper with complaints. (Family Research Council) Read more.

Election Prayers

PRAYING FOR THE ELECTION: PRAYER POINTS AND SUGGESTIONS

(Part One of Four)

1. Pray that Christians across this land will understand that their Vote is precious and privileged. Pray that they will VOTE ACCORDING TO THE WORD and not against God's Will.

Numbers 14:41 But Moses said, "Why are you disobeying the LORD's command? This will not succeed!

1 Cor. 13:11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

2. Pray that the Lord strengthen the Body of Christ to stand in an uncompromising position in unity against the sins of this nation-coming together in one accord to make their voices heard.

Phil. 1:27 Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel.

3. During the next two weeks, bind the spirits of distraction, deception, division, lying, conniving, cheating, stealing, destruction, and anger over everything involved in this important election.

2 Cor. 10: 3-5 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.

4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

Election News

The Midterm Elections Have Begun

by Dave Kubal

President, Intercessors for America

Experts estimate that at least one third, maybe as high as one half, of voters will vote before the official election date. All states allow for absentee balloting, but 32 states (plus the District of Columbia) allow early, in-person voting. Georgia, Vermont, Maine and South Dakota have allowed in person voting since September 21. Candidates have factored these facts in, realizing that their campaign cannot simply put on a last minute push to convince people which way to vote.

As Christians consider their need to intercede for these elections, we need to have the same understanding. People are making up their minds and casting their ballots right now! If you have considered praying for the election, but have been putting it off, now is the time to ask the Lord to intervene in our country. A great website to find issues and candidate information is iVoters.com.

PRAYER POINT:

Pray for the election of righteous leaders who will enact laws for the benefit and blessing of the people.

SCRIPTURE:

"Can a corrupt throne be allied with you - one that brings on misery by its decrees?" (Psalm 94:20)

The Nations Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem

Sunday, October 3, 2010

A special Jerusalem gathering was televised live globally on GOD TV, with beautiful views from the Tayelet Haas Promenade overlooking the Old City of Jerusalem. Special guests included Jerusalem's Mayor Nir Barkat; Dr. Michael Little, president of the Christian Broadcasting Network; Rabbi Dr. Shlomo Riskin, chief rabbi of Efrat; Knesset member Yoel Hasson; and other international leaders from the Christian, Jewish, and Arab communities. A crowd of five hundred attended the live broadcast which went out to tens of millions around the world.

Dr. Robert Stearns declared: "We are not gathered here as a religious experience; we are gathered here because we believe that prayer makes a difference . . . Where man's peace plans fail, God's peace plans come to pass . . .Today a generation past the Holocaust, the Church of Jesus Christ will not be silent. We will lift our voices in the United Nations, in the European Union, in our churches, in the universities, in the White House, and we will lift our voices in the four corners of the earth . . . It's time for God's people to not just hear the shofar. . . but be the shofar!"

Jerusalem's Mayor Nir Barkat told the crowd and TV audience, "The best way to pray for Israel is to pray in Israel, and today, more than ever, your solidarity is extremely important to us." Rabbi Riskin also expressed his gratitude for Christian support, "I thank you because you are truly our brothers and sisters of Abraham." Representing the next generation, a young Christian Israeli Arab, Emil Haloun, asked God in both English and Arabic, "Lord, let Jerusalem be a role model for all the cities of the Middle East . . . let the peace of Jerusalem become a reality, not a dream."
