The Daily Brief

1. Federal Appeals Court Allows Military to Keep Ban on Gays For Now - AP

A federal appeals court on Wednesday temporarily granted the U.S. government's request for a freeze on a judge's order requiring the military to allow openly gay troops.

- Father, we thank You for what appears to be a last minute miracle. That the 9th Circuit Court out of San Francisco would reinstate the stay against removal of Don't Ask Don't Tell is amazing. We praise Your Holy Name. While this is temporary, we ask that You prepare the hearts of those who will hear the full arguments on the appeal to retain the ban. We pray for the souls of those involved in this situation, from gays to judges, and ask for Your visitation.

- "They will fight against you, but they shall not prevail against you, for I am with you, says the Lord, to deliver you." (Jeremiah 1:19)

2. Obama to arrive in India on Diwali night - India Times

Obama is likely to arrive in India on November 5 instead of November 7 as originally scheduled. He will leave Washington DC on the night of November 4 soon after the mid-term Congressional election where many pundits are predicting severe reverses for the Democratic Party. He will be away from the US for almost 12 days, one of the longest tours during his presidency, touching India, Indonesia, Japan, and South Korea, before returning to Washington DC on November 14.

- Lord, we do not know the purpose of the President's trip to India at this critical time. But the Diwali festival is called the Festival of Lights and is a celebration that marks a "triumph over evil" and the defeat of demons. While we understand that India is a non-Christian culture, the fact that Obama has scheduled a trip to visit there at that time seems prophetically significant. We ask for a visitation for Mr. Obama, whatever You choose, that will change his heart and cause him to bow his knee to the only One True Living God.

- "In disquieting thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep sleep calls on men, fear came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones shake." (Job 4:13,14)

3. Elections: A) Obama Struggles to Harness Female Factor - Fox News

As Obama stumps for incumbent Senators Patty Murray of Wash. and Barbara Boxer of Calif., a Fox News Poll indicates female voters - once a Democratic mainstay - aren't so loyal to the party anymore

B) Dems Try to Brand Tea Party GOPers as Stupid - Newsmax

Democrats are pulling out all the stops in seeking to reverse their sagging electoral fortunes. That includes trying to convince voters that Republican leaders and candidates backed by the tea party movement are stupid, Politico reports. But the strategy hasn't gained much traction so far. C) Key Senate Battles Tighten - Wall Street Journal

Key Senate races are tightening as candidates on both sides make unexpected gains, suggesting that the final days in the battle for control of the chamber could be as volatile as any in recent memory.

- Lord, we stand in the gap for all political races in November, and pray that You will choose which candidates will properly reflect Your wishes for America. We bind the lies and deceptions, the negative words spoken, and praise You for your plans and purposes to be revealed.

- "May the Lord cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaks proud things, who have said, 'With our tongue we will prevail; our lips are our own; who is lord over us?' 'For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, Now I will arise,' says the Lord; I will set him in the safety for which he yearns." (Psalm 12:3-5)

4. Soros Gives $1 Million to Target Fox News - NewsMax

Billionaire currency titan George Soros, long a patron of liberal political causes in the United States, is giving $1 million to Media Matters in what he says is an attempt to stop the growing popularity of Fox News. But Glenn Beck and other conservatives say it confirms their worst fears: that Soros is out to manipulate public opinion in the same way he steers currency trades.

- Father, we ask Your protection over Fox News, and every plan of the enemy against them be destroyed. We thank You this attack will solidify those who value truth and objectivity in the media, and they will not stand for this intrusion.

- "Nevertheless we made our prayer to our God, and because of them we set a watch against them day and night." (Nehemiah 4:9)

5. Anonymous Giver Leaves $10,000 in World Trade Center Donation Box - AP

An anonymous benefactor in New York City stuffed $10,000 in cash into a 9/11 donation box at the World Trade Center.

Joe Daniels, president of the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, tells the New York Post that officials found 99 $100 bills and five 20s in the box on Tuesday night.

The box hangs on a wall at the 9/11 memorial preview site.

Memorial officials believe the money was slipped into the box sometime between 5 p.m. -- when the box was last checked -- and 7 p.m., when the preview site closed.

- Father, in this difficult economic time - for someone to leave such a gift- shows that there are real people in America who feel the suffering of the victims of 9-11. That they have operated in Your principles also speaks volumes. Praise You, Lord!

- "But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be done in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly." (Matthew 6:3,4)

6. NPR Fires Williams Over O'Reilly Remarks - Fox News

Longtime award-winning Fox News contributor Juan Williams is fired by NPR for what the taxpayer-supported broadcaster called 'inconsistent' remarks about Muslims made on 'The O'Reilly Factor'.

- Lord, apparently feeling "nervous" about Muslims on an airplane is now politically incorrect, and an occasion to destroy freedom of speech. We thank you for Mr. Williams' courage in stating his feelings and ask that You bless him and provide a new direction for his life. We ask that You visit the National Public Radio and show them the truth.

- "My mouth shall speak wisdom, and the meditation of my heart shall bring understanding." (Psalm 49:3)

7. A) Iran, Venezuela Leaders Seek 'New World Order' - ABC News

The leaders of Iran and Venezuela hailed what they called their strong strategic relationship on Wednesday, saying they are united in efforts to establish a "new world order" that will eliminate Western dominance over global affairs.

B) Iran doubles enriched uranium stockpile to 30kg - Jerusalem Post

Iran announced Wednesday it has almost doubled its stockpile of uranium that the country began enriching to higher levels earlier this year in defiance of UN demands to halt the program.

- Lord, we stand firmly on Your promise to protect those who belong to You. We thank you times and seasons are in Your hand and not the hands of the Iranian dictator. We release all fear and frustration and by faith declare that Your will shall prevail.

- "Yet I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; your walls are continually before Me. Your sons shall make haste; your destroyers and those who laid you waste shall go away from you." (Isaiah 49:16)

Treasury Secretary selling out America at G-20 for "rebalancing" of world economy

The White House monetary policy aims to devalue the American position in the world and bring the nation into alignment with other lesser nations--this is the goal of the White House's Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner as he seeks to "rebalance" the world economy at the weekend meetings of the worlds top 20 producing nations. The concept of American exceptionalism and leadership appears to be far from the Geithner strategy, the Democratic wonder boy who owed back taxes prior to becoming Treasury Secretary.

The Wall Street Journal reports, Geithner says that leaders of the G-20 "are trying to figure out what is in their self-interest." Geithner thinks that it is in America's self interest to reduce its trade deficit by saving more and reducing US demand for products. That is bureaucratese for having a lower standard of living in America. This is the result of globalization, practiced by every president since Ronald Reagan. The idea was to send jobs overseas that Americans "did not want to do," and import such goods back to the country. Over the decades, politicians have "globalized" the American auto, textile, and its electronics industries, and more to the point America is reliant on other countries like China.

Meantime, the politicians have refused to secure the borders of this nation while allowing illegals into the country to do the jobs that Americans "do not want to do." This is a ridiculous and absurd policy, but it is all part of the "globalization" of America. The true aim of globalization is like that of any one world order--to control the people. By getting rid of the American middle-class, the backbone of the Republic in so many ways--globalists are able to control the lower class with government programs and control the upper class through buying their loyalty with programs and loopholes that make them wealthier. This is called class warfare and its ultimate goal is not what it seems.

Christians know that there will be a one world order establishing the antichrist. Revelation 13:16,17 says, "And he causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or on their foreheads; And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name." The true class to be warred against in these days is Christians. Globalization is the strategy of satan in that Christians will be prohibited to preach the gospel. We see this beginning even today. But we are commanded to occupy till Jesus returns. Therefore, we need to resist globalization and preach the gospel to the ends of the earth--with even more passion.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Court Does About-Face on Military Ban

It took a little judicial CPR, but the Ninth Circuit Court managed to revive the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy hours after an activist judge struck it dead. Over the objections of Congress, Obama, and the military, District Court Judge Virginia Phillips stood by her personal agenda and refused to put her ruling overturning the ban on homosexuals on ice until the government could appeal. Instead, she sentenced the Pentagon to complete chaos, ordering them to admit gays and lesbians even though the formal review is still weeks away from completion. To the administration's credit (and homosexual activists' disappointment), it followed up the decision with another appeal--which the higher court granted, at least temporarily. FREE Resources to help your people Vote their Values Provided by Family Research Council

1. Pray for the Election:

Call on your people to pray before they vote. Make plans now to dedicate part of worship time on Sunday, October 31st to pray for God's wisdom and guidance. Consider holding a prayer vigil in your church in the hours leading up to and during Election Day. Pray that God will give us the leaders we need and not the ones we deserve. Visit iVoteValues.org for a Scripture-based Prayer Guide.

2. Preach an Election Sermon:

The Bible is clear about the kind of leaders we should choose (see Exod. 18:21; Prov. 29:2). Pastors have a responsibility to declare the whole counsel of God (Acts 20:27), which includes applying biblical truth to current issues and even elections. David Barton of WallBuilders tells us that pastors began preaching "Election Sermons" as early as 1633 and continued for the next 270 years in America. For sample sermons on moral issues being debated in public arena, visit the Sermon Starters section of the WatchmenPastors.org site by clicking here. For an "Election Sermon," consider using Vote Your Values: A Call to Christian Citizenship.

3. Show a 2 minute Values Voter Video:

Visit iVoteValues.org to see these brief but powerful videos from Tony Perkins, calling on Christians to vote their values.

4. Distribute Voter Guides and Bulletin Inserts:

There are a number of Voter Guides that are 501C3 non-profit compliant with IRS rules. Here are a couple of great websites:

• CitizenLinkVoter.com offers voter guides from our affiliated state Family Policy Councils. Simply click on the map for your state.

• Judeo-ChristianVoterGuide.com offers an aggregate of all known pro-family voter guides for your state. Again, simply click on your state.

5. Be a Bold Leader:

Don't let Barry Lynn and Americans United for Separation of Church and State (AU) scare you with their "threat letter" designed to discourage you from preaching biblical truth during the election season. For the legal basis for doing the above action steps, click here. The Bible says that the "righteous are as bold as a lion" (Prov. 28:1). So be a bold leader, calling on your people to vote their Christian value s during this election season!

7th Circuit Court Upholds Illinois Students' Right for Prayer and "Moment of Silence" at School

Citizen Link (CL) reports that the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled to uphold an Illinois law allowing students in public school to "engage in voluntary prayer and reflection as part of a moment of silence during the school day."

Last year, that law had been struck down as unconstitutional by a federal district judge in a lawsuit brought by an atheist against the school district.

According to the CL report, "the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) and allied attorneys had filed a friend-of-the-court brief in support of the Silent Reflection and Student Prayer Act, passed in 1969 and amended in 2007." Read more. [Reported by: Breaking Christian News]
