Tracking the Statues
"Speak to each man the truth to his neighbor; give judgment in your gates for truth, justice, and peace." (Zechariah 8:16)
1. Which statues Pelosi wants out of Capitol - WND
Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is angry. After serving for 30 years in the Capitol, she decided Friday enough is enough.
No, she's not quitting.
She's determined, she says, to see all the Confederate statues in Statuary Hall removed - ironically, nine out of 10 being members of her own party, as were all prominent politicians from the South.
"There is no room for celebrating the violent bigotry of the men of the Confederacy in the hallowed halls of the United States Capitol or in places of honor across the country," the current House minority leader said. (Read more)
- Lord, we pray that You will stop this erasure of history, lest we have whole generations who will commit the same mistakes. For those who are advancing this political plan, we pray that You will show them the truth.
- "Speak to each man the truth to his neighbor; give judgment in your gates for truth, justice, and peace." (Zechariah 8:16)
2. Boston march against hate speech avoids Charlottesville chaos - Reuters
Tens of thousands of people took to the streets of Boston on Saturday to protest a "free speech" rally featuring far-right speakers a week after a woman was killed at a Virginia white-supremacist demonstration. Rally organizers had invited several far-right speakers who were confined to a small pen that police set up in the historic Boston Common park to keep the two sides separate. The city avoided a repeat of last weekend's bloody street battles in Charlottesville, Virginia, where one woman was killed.
Police estimated that as many as 40,000 people packed into the streets around the nation's oldest park. (Read more)
- Lord, we are thankful that the Boston March did not blow up as badly as in Charlottesville. But we ask for peace- true shalom peace- to begin to wash across America, calming the storm, healing the minds of all Americans, especially Your people.
- "You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You." (Isaiah 26:3)
3. Texas man charged with trying to blow up Confederate statue- Reuters
Authorities in Houston charged a 25-year-old man on Monday with trying to blow up a Confederate statue, federal prosecutors said, in the latest development amid demonstrations and fierce debate about race and the legacy of America's Civil War.
Word of the arrest of Andrew Schneck came just hours after the University of Texas at Austin said it removed four statues tied to the Confederacy from its campus because they had become "symbols of modern white supremacy and neo-Nazism."
White nationalists rallied earlier this month against proposals to take down a similar statue in Charlottesville, Virginia, and one woman was killed when a man crashed his car into a crowd of anti-racism counterprotesters. (Read more)
- Lord, we thank You for thwarting this bombing. Our nation is divided as badly as it was during the Civil War. We ask that You remember that we are all dust, and that we must find a place of repentance before You. Help us, Father, to see our sins in light of Your mercy and grace for us, in Your name, amen.
- "Because Your mercy is good, deliver me." (Psalm 109: 21c)
4. 10 Statues Liberals Want to Destroy - Newsmax
Statues and monuments have become the new target of liberals, spurred on by the violence over the removal of a monument to Robert E. Lee on Aug. 12 in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Liberals from around the country are making lists of historical monuments they want destroyed because they might offend someone. Here are 10 statues or kinds of statues that liberals want taken down. (Read more)
- Father God, we thank You for those who have studied the seeds of Communist movements in other nations, for we have learned that the first thing Marxists will do when they take over a nation . . . is to pull down the statues of previous kings or leaders. We ask that today's leaders in America be brought under a spirit of restraint, lest they do anything that is hasty or against Your will. May wisdom rule we ask, amen and amen.
- "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye." (Psalm 32:8)

4. New Labor leader seeks sweeping powers - Jerusalem Post
New Labor Party leader Avi Gabbay announced on Sunday that he intends to seek increased power for his post ahead of the next general election, including the right to choose four of the party's candidates for the next Knesset.
Gabbay, who was elected July 10, realized that the post does not give him the power to make key decisions or to allocate funds for initiatives that he believes are essential to prepare the party for the next race. At the next Labor convention, whose date has not yet been set, he will ask to receive some of the authority currently given to that party's secretary-general, Eran Hermoni.
"To win the next election, Labor must update the tools at its disposal and give its leadership the ability, the resources, and the authority necessary for the party," Gabbay said. "These changes would give the party a significant boost in its goals of reaching out to the wider public and present a proper alternative."

The head of the Mossad intelligence service will travel with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to meet with Russian President Vladmir Putin later this week.
Yossi Cohen will sit in on the meetings with the Russian leader, during which Netanyahu is expected to discuss a ceasefire in Syria brokered by Washington and Moscow. Israel has opposed the deal, saying it does not properly address Israel's concerns about Iranian ambitions in the region.
The Israeli delegation will try to secure assurances that after a ceasefire brings the fighting in Syria to an end Iranian forces will be pulled out of the country and its territory, a Ynet report said.

1. Trump announces new strategy for Afghanistan that calls for a troop increase - Washington Post
President Trump on Monday sought to rally the nation in support of a new strategy for the U.S. war in Afghanistan, taking greater ownership of a protracted conflict that he had long dismissed as a waste of time and resources.
Trump's plan involves a modest increase of several thousand troops and the president said success would be determined by conditions on the ground and not dictated by a specific timeline. The change in policy laid out during a prime-time address from the Fort Myer military base in Arlington, Va., is the result of a lengthy policy review within his administration over how to proceed in the nation's longest war.
"Our troops will fight to win," he said. "From now on, victory will have a clear definition: attacking our enemies, obliterating ISIS, crushing al-Qaeda, preventing the Taliban from taking over the country, and stopping mass terror attacks against Americans before they emerge (Read more)

2. N. Korea Warns of 'Merciless Strike' Ahead of US - S. Korea Drills- Newsmax
North Korea warned Sunday that the upcoming U.S.-South Korea military exercises that are expected to start on Monday is "pouring gasoline on fire" and considered "reckless behavior driving the situation into the uncontrollable phase of a nuclear war." According to CNN, Pyongyang also declared that its army can target the United States anytime, and neither Guam, Hawaii nor the U.S. can "dodge the merciless strike."
CNN reports the warning was in the official government newspaper, Rodong Sinmun.
Combative rhetoric between the nations spiked after Pyongyang tested two intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM) last month that appeared to bring much of the US within range, sparking an intense warning by President Donald Trump that Washington could rain "fire and fury" on the North. Pyongyang then threatened to fire a salvo of missiles towards the US territory of Guam -- a plan that leader Kim Jong-Un last week delayed, but warned could go ahead depending on Washington's next move.
Amid the fiery volley of threats, Seoul and Washington will begin Monday the "Ulchi Freedom Guardian" (UFG) joint military exercises involving tens of thousands of troops that Pyongyang views as a highly provocative rehearsal for invasion. (Read more)

3. All Spain terror suspects, including imam, dead or in custody, police say - Fox News
All terror suspects identified as part of the 12-person extremist cell responsible for coordinating the deadly Spain attacks last week, including a former imam, are either dead or under arrest, authorities said.
The suspected driver behind the Barcelona terror attack was shot dead Monday, wrapping up a multi-day, international manhunt for Europe's most-wanted man - who's believed to be the final member of the Spanish extremist cell behind last week's incidents.
The imam, identified as Abdelbaki Es Satty, was accused of recruiting and radicalizing the other attackers, AFP reported. (Read more)
- Father, we thank You for the quick action taken by the French police in identifying and capturing or killing all the members of this hidden cell. We ask that as they continue to investigate these terrorists, more will come to light and other jihadists can be reined in, too, before they kill others. Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer, amen.
- "Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just."
(Psalm 7:9)
4. Report - Barcelona Jihadists intended to blow Christian Basilica Sagrada Familia - Breitbart
The Islamic terrorists who carried out a killing rampage in Barcelona earlier this week had plans to blow up the iconic Catholic basilica of la Sagrada Familia, according to new reports.
The Spanish newspaper El Español has noted that the jihadist cell had a stockpile of explosives at a nearby property in Alcanar (Tarragona) and intended to use three vans to detonate them in three different points of the city in order to inflict the greatest possible damage. An accidental explosion at the Alcanar estate on Wednesday left the terrorists without ammunition and forced them to improvise the vehicle attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils, the report states. "They were preparing one or several attacks in Barcelona and an explosion in Alcanar stopped this as they no longer had the material they needed to commit attacks of an even bigger scope," said Josep Lluis Trapero of Catalonia's police. The explosion killed one jihadists and left another in serious condition.
The prime target of the attack was meant to be the Catholic Sagrada Familia (Holy Family) basilica, an enormous neo-gothic structure designed by Spanish artist Antoni GaudÃ, which draws huge numbers of visitors and pilgrims each day. Construction of the still unfinished church began in 1882 and is projected for completion in 2026.
According to reports, the terrorists had chosen the Basilica of the Sagrada Familia as their main target because it is a symbol of the city and of the Christian religion, as well as for the massive flow of visitors. During 2016, the church was visited by some 4.5 million people, and more than 20 million people came to view the structure from the outside.
The second bombing objective was La Rambla, which in addition to the continuous flow of pedestrians passing by this emblematic walk, is located next to the Market of La BoquerÃa, one of the most frequented destinations in the city. The third target has not yet been identified, but investigators suspect it was to be a port area. (Read more)
- Father, we praise You for Your mighty hand of protection that saved an historic church in Spain. Let Your power be known throughout the world at this time, saving Your people from destruction, and letting it be known that You are God.
- "Thus I will magnify Myself and sanctify Myself, and I will be known in the eyes of many nations. Then they shall know that I am the Lord."
(Ezekiel 38:23)
5. ISIS claims Cambrils attack, boasts of wounding '120 Crusaders and Jews'- Ynet News
European nations were hit by a series of violent and deadly attacks over the weekend. These include, in chronological order: an explosion on Wednesday night in the Spanish town of Alcanar, where one person died and seven were injured, and which is believed to be linked to the following day's attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils; a vehicular attack on Friday in the city of Barcelonathat killed 13 and injured over 100; another vehicular attack on Friday in the Spanish town of Cambrils where one person died and six were injured; a stabbing attack in the Finnish city of Turku that killed two and injured eight; and a stabbing attack in the Siberian city of Surgut, in which seven people were injured. 6. New US Mideast Director Implied Moral Equivalency between Palestinian Terror and Israel - United with Israel
David Satterfield, who is slated to become the State Department's New Mideast Director, has repeatedly suggested a moral equivalency between Palestinian terrorism and Israeli counterterrorism. Should someone with this perspective be dictating policy? The newly appointed Middle East director at the State Department has a long record of criticizing and pressuring Israel. Isn't anybody at the White House paying attention to who's being hired over at Foggy Bottom? David Satterfield, who is slated to become assistant secretary of state for Near East affairs next month, played a significant role in US policy and diplomacy concerning Israel and the Palestinians in the late 1990s and early 2000s. A look at some of his comments from that period reveals he repeatedly suggested a moral equivalency between Palestinian terrorism and Israeli counterterrorism. (Read more)

7. USS John S. McCain arrives at Singapore naval base after collision leaves 10 missing - USA Today
The guided-missile destroyer USS John S. McCain arrived at Singapore's Changi Naval Base on Monday, hours after colliding with an oil tanker and leaving 10 sailors missing and five injured. The U.S. Navy said the ship has "significant damage" to its hull, which flooded areas including crew berths, machinery and communications rooms. The vessel collided with Alnic MC, a 600-foot Liberian oil and chemical tanker, east of the Straits of Malacca and Singapore at about 6.30 a.m. Japan Standard Time, the U.S. Navy's 7th Fleet said in a statement. The Greek-owned tanker is about three times the size of the McCain, the Navy Times reported. (Read more)
- Father, we speak comfort to those families and sailors affected by this tragedy. We pray that You will aid the recovery mission so that there will be closure. As this is the second Naval disaster in two months, we pray that You will help the investigators find truth, and answers in the investigation. Please reveals all factors that might be hidden, in Your name, amen.
- "For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known." (Matthew 10:26)
8. Secret Service: Trump's Not Our Only Problem - MSN
The U.S. Secret Service is facing money problems - but that's not President Donald Trump's fault, the agency's director said Monday in response to a report that the First Family was straining protective resources. Secret Service Director Randolph "Tex" Alles said funding for roughly 1,100 agents working overtime in 2017 is not an issue "that can be attributed to the current Administration's protection requirements alone, but rather has been an ongoing issue for nearly a decade due to an overall increase in operational tempo."
His comments came after a report in USAToday, in which Alles was interviewed, that the agency's funding problems were partly caused by the president's large family and their multiple, oft-visited Trump properties both in the U.S. and overseas. Alles told USAToday the agency is handling an unprecedented number of White House officials who need protection. Under Trump, 42 people have protection, including 18 members of the Trump family. That's up from 31 during the Obama administration. (Read more)
- Lord, this story has been twisted all over the internet by different media. We pray that You will set the record straight that the Secret Servce was not blaming the President. We also pray that You will find a way to legislate whatever is needed so that our Secret Service can continue to protect all who need them at this time of upheaval.
- "A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who speaks lies shall perish." (Proverbs 19:5)
9. NAFTA Renegotiation Begins - Washington Free Beacon
The Trump administration began the first ever renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement on Wednesday, hoping to fulfill one of the president's chief campaign promises.
U.S. Trade Representative Amb. Robert Lighthizer opened the "historic day" hoping to advance Trump's trade agenda, which he said would involve protecting American manufacturing interests, a sector that declined sharply as automation and outsourcing took hold following NAFTA's 1994 implementation. He acknowledged that many workers and farmers have benefitted from the agreement, but said the agreement's harm has been evident for years. The U.S. government estimates that 700,000 Americans have lost their jobs specifically because of NAFTA, according to Lighthizer.
"For countless Americans, this agreement has failed," he said in a statement. "We cannot ignore the huge trade deficits, the lost manufacturing jobs, the businesses that have closed or moved because of incentives-intended or not-in the current agreement."
The administration released its objectives for negotiations in July. The USTR will focus on currency manipulation and said in its July document that it aims to "eliminate unfair subsidies, market-distorting practices by state owned enterprises, and burdensome restrictions on intellectual property." (Read more)
- Father, we pray for Your Spirit to lead the renegotiation of NAFTA, and we pray for a renewed respect for our nation and access to our markets.
- In your marketplace they traded with you beautiful garments, blue fabric, embroidered work and multicolored rugs with cords twisted and tightly knotted. (Ezekiel 27:24)
10. Trump to Rescind Obama Rule Forcing Doctors, Hospitals to Perform Gender Transition Treatments - Christian Post
LGBT rights groups have raised alarm at the fact that the Trump administration is in the process of finalizing a policy that would rescind an Obama-era healthcare rule that opponents say requires hospitals, doctors and health insurers to cover or provide gender transition therapies and procedures. The Hill reports that the Department of Justice is reviewing a proposed rule that has already cleared the Department of Health and Human Services that would rescind an HHS mandate instituted in 2016 that bars healthcare providers and insurers who receive federal tax dollars from denying treatment or coverage to patients on the basis of gender identity.
The rule was challenged in court by five states and organizations like the Christian Medical and Dental Associations and the Franciscan Alliance, which represent over 17,000 physicians. The lawsuit claimed that the rule would force doctors and hospitals to "perform controversial and sometimes harmful medical procedures ostensibly designed to permanently change an individual's sex - including the sex of children."
Additionally, the lawsuit claimed that the law would require faith-based hospitals and doctors to perform procedures for the purpose of sex reassignment even if they feel such acts would violate religious or moral convictions. (Read more)
- Thank You, Father, for this action supporting the conscience rights of healthcare providers. We pray for those suffering from gender dysphoria and pray they would find their true identity in You.
- "My wayward children," says the Lord, "come back to me, and I will heal your wayward hearts." "Yes, we're coming," the people reply, "for you are the Lord our God." (Jeremiah 3:22)
11. Planned Parenthood Court Fight over Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Could Go to Supreme Court - Breitbart
A federal appeals court last week ruled against Planned Parenthood's lawsuit demanding taxpayer funding for abortion, creating a split with other federal appeals courts that might finally take this issue to the highest court in the land.
The Supreme Court in 1973 invented a constitutional right to abortion in Roe v. Wade, even though nothing in the text, structure, or history of the Constitution suggests the existence of such a right. But even the pro-Roe Court held in its 1980 decision Harris v. McRae that Roe's right to abortion does not include the additional right to make taxpayers foot the bill for it.
Although the Constitution does not mandate abortion funding, Medicaid nonetheless provides money through state governments to Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion provider. Planned Parenthood performs 320,000 abortions per year and receives $554 million in taxpayer money. Yet polls show that 62 percent of Americans oppose taxpayers' funding abortions, even while some of these funding opponents believe that abortion should be legal. (Read more)
- Father, we pray for Your Light to shine through in the midst of this evil killing of the unborn. We pray for the souls of those who commit these acts of violence, that You would somehow make a way into their hearts.
- "Because for every matter there is a time and judgment." (Eccl. 8:6a)

Solar eclipse yes, apocalypse not
Much has been written and said about the "Great American Total Solar Eclipse" that is to occur today. Millions are taking time off to watch it. There are reporters and Christian commentators pontificating about the eclipse being the Apocalypse, the end of the world or a rapture, the second coming of Christ, and at the very least a sign in heaven. As the day progresses, Americans will see the eclipse. It is cyclical, predictable and on time as part of the wonderful creation of God. It will not, however, be the Apocalypse, the rapture, or the second coming of Christ. It does not fit the prophetic descriptions of the many passages in the Bible, which are all orderly and consistent about the end times.
In very practical terms, this solar eclipse, like them all, is cyclical and predictable. What did Jesus the Messiah say to his disciples about when the end would come? He began in Matthew 24:4, the most concise chronological expository of the end times by Christ himself, by saying, "Take heed that no man deceive you." They asked again before his ascending to heaven in Acts 1 and he replied, "It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father has put in his own power." These verses are key to having understanding about the end times. First, we do not precisely know the times or the seasons of his return--we do have understanding of what will happen, but not exactly when. Second, a lot of deception will be occurring that may cause many to fall away, have doubt, or not believe at all.
In the Olivet Discourse in Matthew 24, Christ lays out what happens leading up to his return: Wars, rumors of wars, famines, pestilences, earthquakes, persecution, false prophets, preaching of the gospel unto all the nations, and then the Abomination of Desolation spoken of in Daniel. He says in verse 21, "For then there shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be." Then there are more false Christs, and deception. Christ says in verse 29, "Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken."
He continues in verse 30, "And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory." These verses are exactly consistent with the prophecies of this event found in Isaiah 34:4, 2 Peter 3:10, Revelation 6:12-14, Revelation 8, Joel 2:31 and 3:15, Ezekiel 38 and 39, and many others about the heavens rolling back like a scroll, the sun darkened, the moon turning to blood, and destruction coming from the heavens. Jesus warns again in Matthew 24 that man will not know the day or the hour, but implores us to watch and be ready for his return. Yes, we are having a solar eclipse in America today, but it is not the end of the world centered in Israel as described in the Holy scriptures.
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

2017 Solar eclipse live updates:
Weather, photos, traffic and more
For one brief moment, day became night.
And the sun was replaced by a black circle - ringed on all sides with gleaming white fire.
As the Great American Eclipse made landfall in the tiny coastal town of Newport, Ore., the rowdy crowd that gathered on its beach was stunned by the sight into an eerie silence.
In Casper, Wyo., a man blew a shofar, as others rang bells and let loose whoops and roars erupted from the crowd. Birds, startled by the darkness, darted in every direction.
Visibly glowing in the darkness was the sun's corona - a beautiful halo of writhing exceedingly hot gas - normally invisible, now suddenly and beautifully on display.
On Monday, life in America was put on hold -the nagging to do list, the deadlines at work, the political debates and divisions. Everything receded, overtaken by the celestial event of the century suddenly looming over America.
Outside a church in Idaho Falls, parishioners screamed in excitement. "You see the stars!" said one. "I see Venus," said another. "God is amazing," yelled one woman in conclusion.
Just a few miles away, Jim Anderton in Idaho City, struggled to put the sight before him into words.
Visibly glowing in the darkness was the sun's corona - a beautiful halo of writhing exceedingly hot gas - normally invisible, now suddenly and beautifully on display.
"It's like someone just dipped the edge of the sun in flames," Anderton said. (Read more)

Where Jesus Fed 5,000: Could a Roman Bath be a Link to its Discovery?
(Israel) - [CBN News] What does an ancient Roman Bath have to do with Jesus' miraculous feeding of the 5,000?
Archaeologists working in Israel peel back layers to unravel the mystery of the past. That's what happened at a site they now believe may have been Biblical Bethsaida.
"We are on the northern shore of the Kinneret Lake, the Sea of Galilee, a site known in Arabic as el-Araj [and] in Hebrew [as] Beit Abek," Dr. Mordechai Aviam, with the Kinneret College of the Sea of Galilee's Institute for Galilean Archaeology, told CBN News. "This site was known since the end of the 19th century as an ancient site and one of the three candidates to identify Bethsaida."
For years, archaeologists searched for Biblical Bethsaida, the home of Peter, Andrew and Philip. There were several candidates, but ironically, a Roman Bath could hold the key to identifying the ancient village.

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].
Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
Friends may participate by receiving our daily prayer alerts. You may contact us at chpp1994@gmail.com for more information. CHPP is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt ministry. Thank you and God bless you!
