News from Orlando
Below please find five headlines from yesterday's news, tracking the immediate aftermath of the tragedy in Orlando this past weekend.
We invite each of you to please "pray in the Spirit" over each one, even as we continue to ask healing for those still in the hospital and comfort for all who mourn.
Please also agree with us that (in His time . . . ): "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28)
Thank you. - the editor
"Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered." (Romans 8:26)
1. ISIS Claims Responsibility for Orlando Mass Shooting - Time.com
The Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) claimed responsibility for the mass shooting attack in an Orlando gay club on Sunday that left more than 50 people dead.
"The attack that targeted a nightclub for homosexuals in Orlando, Florida and that left more than 100 dead and wounded was carried out by an Islamic State fighter," the group said in a report on its official Amaq news agency. The message was attributed to an unnamed "source."
The claim comes after law enforcement officials quoted by multiple news organizations, including NBC News and the New York Times said the suspected shooter, Omar Mateen, called 911 before the attack in order to swear his allegiance to ISIS. Those reports could not be immediately confirmed, but such declarations of allegiance have been a hallmark of past attacks by ISIS sympathizers, including the San Bernardino shooting in December. 2. FBI says Orlando shooter was likely 'radicalized' online - Times of Israel
The head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation said Monday agents were "highly confident" that Orlando shooter Omar Mateen was "radicalized," at least in part through information he found online. James Comey said it was still not clear if Mateen was part of an established extremist network or which group may have inspired him, but he told reporters: "We'll leave no stones unturned and we'll work all day and all night to understand the path to that terrible night." Forty-nine people were killed and 53 others wounded in the shooting rampage at a gay nightclub in Orlando in the early hours of Sunday. (Read more)
3. Orlando gunman tied to radical imam released from prison last year, say law enforcement sources - Fox News
The gunman who murdered at least 50 people in a Florida nightclub early Sunday morning was a follower of a controversial gang leader-turned-bank robber who was released from prison last year despite warnings from prosecutors that he would recruit people to carry out violent acts, sources told FoxNews.com.
Omar Mateen, whose bloody siege inside a packed Orlando gay nightclub ended when SWAT teams stormed the building and killed him, was a radical Muslim who followed Marcus Dwayne Robertson, a law enforcement source said.
"It is no coincidence that this happened in Orlando," said a law enforcement source familiar with Robertson's history of recruiting terrorists and inciting violence. "Mateen was enrolled in [Robertson's online] Fundamental Islamic Knowledge Seminary." (Read more)
4. FBI searching Orlando gunman's computer for digital evidence he scouted Disney World - Fox News
Investigators from the FBI are searching the electronic devices of the Muslim terrorist who killed at least 49 people in an Orlando nightclub for any direct indications that he planned to target Disney World or nearby Downtown Disney, a law enforcement source close to the investigation told Fox News on Monday.
The search for evidence of any plan to target Disney is in addition to scrubbing those devices for communications with any FBI-flagged individuals, domestic or international, the source said.
The FBI has also been in contact with security officials at Disney World to review security camera footage that would place Mateen at the park or at any of its surrounding attractions, the law enforcement source said.
When also asked if investigators were able to access the gunman's phone, source could not say, but did tell Fox News that once on his phone, investigators would direct attention to the device's geolocation history to determine any extended periods of time spent in the area of Disney World. 5. Slipped through the cracks: Orlando killer worked for DHS, State contractor - Fox News
The security company that employed Orlando nightclub shooter Omar Mateen also is a federal contractor for the Homeland Security and State departments -- raising more questions about how he passed background checks despite being on the FBI's radar screen and the level of security at a firm handling sensitive U.S. operations.
Mateen, who killed 49 people and wounded dozens more early Sunday inside the gay nightclub Pulse, started working for G4S Secure Solutions in 2007 and until the attack was employed as an armed guard at a gated retirement community in South Florida.
The U.K.-based firm has a far-reaching portfolio that goes well beyond retirement villages, however, with its U.S. arm having become of the biggest government contractors since 9/11. This includes helping secure 40 U.S. embassies worldwide and working with U.S. agents on border patrol.
In a statement released Monday, the company expressed shock at the tragic attack and said they are cooperating with law enforcement. (Read more)
6. Co-worker: Omar Mateen homophobic, 'unhinged'- Florida Today
A former Fort Pierce police officer who once worked with 29-year-old Omar Mateen, the assailant in an Orlando nightclub shooting that left at least 50 dead, said he was "unhinged and unstable."
Daniel Gilroy said he worked the 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. shift with G4S Security at the south gate at PGA Village for several months in 2014-15. Mateen took over from him for a 3 to 11 p.m. shift.
Gilroy, a former Fort Pierce police officer, said Mateen frequently made homophobic and racial comments. Gilroy said he complained to his employer several times but it did nothing because he was Muslim. Gilroy quit after he said Mateen began stalking him via multiple text messages - 20 or 30 a day. He also sent Gilroy 13 to 15 phone messages a day, he said.
"I quit because everything he said was toxic," Gilroy said Sunday, "and the company wouldn't do anything. This guy was unhinged and unstable. He talked of killing people." (Read more)

1. Netanyahu: Enlightened countries must unite to fight terror - Israel National News
Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu again related to Sunday's terrorist attack at an Orlando gay nightclub, and called for united action against Islamist terrorism.
"We are all shocked at the horrific massacre in Orlando," Netanyahu stated at the start of the weekly cabinet meeting, which was postponed from Sunday in honor of Shavuot.
"On behalf of the government and people of Israel, I would like to again express our condolences to the American people and the families at this especially difficult time." (Read more)
2. 'When there's a terror attack, the whole village celebrates' - Israel National News
Reports of wild celebrations in Arab villages and neighborhoods following last week's deadly terror attack in the Sarona Market in Tel Aviv left many shocked and horrified. Yet such expressions of joy and satisfaction following murderous acts of terrorism are hardly new, and have become a frequent occurrence after such attacks.
Perhaps the most well-publicized celebrations came in the wake of the 9/11 attacks in 2001, when Arabs across Judea, Samaria, Gaza, and eastern Jerusalem were filmed cheering and handing out candy.
For one young woman, however, these spontaneous expressions of celebration were not merely disgusting or disturbing - they were a frightening reminder of the danger she lived with every single day. (Read more)
3. Palestinian stabbing attack foiled near Nablus - Israel Hayom
IDF troops positioned at a pillbox near Nablus in Samaria shot and seriously wounded a Palestinian man who allegedly tried to stab them on Friday afternoon.
According to the IDF, the suspected terrorist approached the pillbox on a bicycle. Around 100 meters away from the pillbox, he got off the bike, took out a knife and began running toward the soldiers. The soldiers called on him to stop, but he continued to run toward them and they subsequently opened fire at him. The wounded assailant was taken to a hospital in Israel for medical treatment. 4. Knesset members to resume Temple Mount visits -Times of Israel
An eight-month ban on political leaders visiting the Temple Mount is likely to be lifted by the end of June.
The Knesset Ethics Committee is set to vote Tuesday on ending the restriction it imposed on lawmakers last October amid escalating violence over the flashpoint Jerusalem holy site, including Palestinian terror attacks against Israelis and violent confrontations between security forces and Palestinians in the West Bank. 5. World in chaos, Israel gets singular focus at UN rights body - Fox News
GENEVA - Wars in Iraq, Syria and Yemen have killed hundreds of thousands of people. Enforced disappearances, torture and extremist attacks infringe on human rights worldwide. Tyrannical, autocratic leaders and their allies from Belarus to Burundi repel dissent with an iron fist.
But while human rights abuses are legion in these troubled times, only one country has its record inspected at every single session of the United Nations Human Rights Council: Israel, over its policies in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Israel, which trumpets its bona fides as a democracy in a difficult neighborhood full of enemies, is crying foul. And it is not entirely alone: Other critics, notably the United States, also decry what they see as an entrenched bias in United Nations institutions and an obsession with the Palestinian issue at the expense of other crises around the globe. Every prayer below is presented to our Lord in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.
1. Tony Perkins: Election Is Like the Civil War--Battle For 'Very Heart and Soul of Our Nation' - CNSNews.com
Tony Perkins, president of the conservative Family Research Council, compared the upcoming presidential election with the U.S. Civil War, arguing that both battles were over the future direction of the nation.
"This is a division of ideology and of vision," Perkins said at the Faith and Freedom Coalition Conference in Washington D.C. on Friday. "While there are no gun battles raging between the blue and the gray in the fields and farm lands of America, there is a battle of worldviews being waged all across this land. . . It is a battle, my friends, for the very heart and soul of our nation," Perkins said.
Perkins added that it is up to the American people, not politicians, to solve the nation's problems. (Read more)
- Father, our nation is very divided, and therefore vulnerable to the plans of the enemy. Unify Your church, Lord, so the Body of Christ can bring direction and healing to our nation. We ask in Your name, amen.
- "Holy Father, keep them in Your name, the name which You have given Me, that they may be one even as We are. I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me." (John 17:11, 20-21)
2. Clinton under fire for earlier remark that Muslims had 'nothing' to do with terrorism - Fox News Hillary Clinton is coming under fire for a tweet last year in which she claimed Muslims have "nothing whatsoever to do with terrorism."
However, on Monday the presumptive Democratic nominee acknowledged the threat of "radical Islamism," one day after an apparent Islamic State sympathizer killed 49 people and wounded dozens of others inside an Orlando, Fla., nightclub. "I have clearly said we have terrorist enemies who use Islam to justify slaughtering innocent people," Clinton said on NBC's "Today" show. "To me, radical jihadism, radical Islamism, they mean the same thing. I'm happy to say either but that's not the point."
Her remarks were a departure from her tweet in November 2015, between the November 2015 Paris massacre and the December 2015 San Bernardino, Calif., terror attacks, both linked to ISIS. "Let's be clear: Islam is not our adversary," Clinton tweeted. "Muslims are peaceful and tolerant people and have nothing to do whatsoever with terrorism." (Read more)
- Father, we pray all our leaders would desire the mind of Christ, and thereby be equipped to lead our nation with wisdom and integrity. Amen.
- "Boast no more so very proudly, Do not let arrogance come out of your mouth; For the Lord is a God of knowledge, And with Him actions are weighed." (1 Samuel 2:3)
3. Trump, Clinton trade blows on terror and guns in wake of Orlando attack - Fox News
While investigators try to piece together what led the Orlando gunman to carry out an unspeakable act of terror, the attack is upending the 2016 campaign debate as the two presumptive rivals go toe-to-toe on terror with two very different messages.
In back-to-back speeches Monday, Donald Trump doubled down on his call for a Muslim immigration ban while decrying what he described as a "deadly ignorance" that is hurting the country -- and Hillary Clinton renewed her call for an assault-weapons ban while vowing to stop "lone wolf" terrorists.
Trump, speaking at St. Anselm College, was quick to slam his Democratic rival, claiming she "is in total denial" and that her ultimate plan is to "disarm law-abiding Americans" while admitting immigrants who could pose a threat.
A few hours earlier at her speech in Ohio, Clinton called for an "intelligence surge" and a ban on assault weapons as part of a multi-pronged strategy to confront homegrown terrorism. The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, following the Orlando terror attack, called on Americans to fight terrorism at home with "clear eyes" and "steady hands." She delivered a carefully calibrated message, calling for America to get tougher on terrorists while also renewing gun control proposals that have failed to gain steam in Congress. (Read more)
- Father, only You know the way forward to protect our civil liberties while dealing with the real threats against the United States. Bring to light any persons or plans intending to do harm, and guide our leaders by Your hand, we pray, amen.
- The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. (John 1:5)
4. ACLU lawyers blame 'Christian right,' GOP for Orlando terrorist attack (The ACLU's deeply offensive and ill-informed hate talk) - Washington Examiner
Christian conservatives are responsible for the mass shooting at a gay bar in Orlando because they "created this anti-queer climate," according to American Civil Liberties Union attorneys. You know what is gross - your thoughts and prayers and Islamophobia after you created this anti-queer climate," ACLU staff attorney Chase Strangio tweeted on Sunday morning.
But Strangio - who "spend[s his] life fighting Christian homophobia while being loved & supported by [his] Muslim family" - and his colleagues connected the shooting back to Christians and Republican politicians who oppose gay marriage. "The Christian Right has introduced 200 anti-LGBT bills in the last six months and people blaming Islam for this," Strangio tweeted. "No."
Another ACLU attorney who specializes in religious liberty issues scolded Republican lawmakers who tweeted out their condolences. "Remember when you co-sponsored extreme, anti-LGBT First Amendment Defense Act?" the ACLU's Eunice Rho tweeted at Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., and other Republicans. (Read more)
- [The following quote is from Gary Bauer] If you're a Muslim listening to Muslim leaders saying gays should be killed and you kill gays, it has nothing to do with your Muslim faith. But if you are a conservative who believes marriage is between a man and a woman, and that little girls should not be forced to use bathrooms with little boys who think they are girls, then according to ACLU, you have created the atmosphere that led the Muslim jihadist to kill gays.
- Father, we cry out to You to deliver us from this time of confusion into Your Truth, amen.
- 'But deliver us from evil.' (Matthew 6:13)
5. 'Gays must die,' says Muslim at Orlando mosque - WND
In a disturbing twist, a speech given by a Muslim speaker in 2013 at the Husseini Islamic Center in the Orlando suburb of Sanford, Florida, in 2013 called for death to homosexuals. Sheikh Farrokh Sekaleshfar said killing of homosexuals is the "compassionate" thing to do: "Death is the sentence. We know there's nothing to be embarrassed about this, death is the sentence." Sheikh Sekaleshfar's call for the death of all homosexuals is based on the tenets of Islam. He is viewed as an expert on Shariah Islamiyya or Islamic Law. (Read more)
- Father, we thank You for exposing what this Islamic expert teaches about homosexuality. We pray people in this nation would inform themselves about Islam and that our public policy would protect people from harm. Amen.
- "Do not grant the wicked their desires, Lord; do not let their plans succeed. Those who surround me proudly rear their heads; may the mischief of their lips engulf them." (Psalm 140:8-9)
6. ISIS 'kill list' targets Palm Beach, Treasure Coast residents: Ex-FBI agent - NBC News, Las Vegas
A pro-Isis group has released a hit list with the names of more than 8,000 peoplemostly Americans. More than 600-people live in Florida, and one security expert believes that many of those targeted live in Palm Beach County and on the Treasure Coast. The "United Cyber Caliphate" that hacked U.S. Central Command, 54,000 Twitter accounts and threatened President Barack Obama is the same pro-Isis group that's reportedly created a "kill list" with the names, addresses and emails of thousands of civilian Americans.
Reports of the list came to light online when Vocativ reported the list was shared via the encrypted app, Telegram, and called on supporters to kill.
Former FBI agent-turned lawyer Stuart Kaplan says the threat is especially alarming, because the people on this list are civilians who don't have the security necessary to protect themselves. (Read more)
- Father, we pray for Your angelic protection for each person on this list as well as their families. Amen.
- "Let those who love the Lord hate evil, for he guards the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked." (Psalm 97:10)
7. Man 'claiming IS allegiance' kills cop, woman in Paris - Times of Israel
A man who claimed allegiance to the Islamic State group stabbed a French policeman to death on Monday night before he was killed in a dramatic police operation, sources close to the investigation said.
A news agency linked to the Islamic State claimed the attack, a US-based monitor said. The SITE Intelligence Group, based just outside Washington, cited the Amaq News Agency as saying: "Islamic State fighter kills deputy chief of the police station in the city of Les Mureaux and his wife with blade weapons near #Paris."
French prosecutors have launched an anti-terror probe after the policeman and his partner were killed at their home in the Paris suburb of Magnanville. (Read more)
- Father, even as we view the horror now upon our land by this attack from ISIS, we yet remain in prayer for the people of Europe. Thank You, Lord, that the different intelligence agencies are now working together at the global level to get these ISIS jihadists off of our streets. We ask You to bless their efforts, in Your name, amen.
- "And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive." (Mt. 21:22)
8. Nervous Baltics on war footing as NATO tries to deter Russia - Business Insider
Leaders in the Baltic countries and Poland fear the force NATO plans to deploy on their territory is too small and symbolic to deter an attack by Russia, whose 2014 annexation of Crimea is fresh in the memories of the former Soviet-bloc states.
They will this week press other ministers of the western military alliance to help them build an air defense system against Russian aircraft and missiles. But that would be a highly sensitive step, likely to be condemned by Moscow as yet more evidence of a NATO strategy threatening its borders.
Asked about the likelihood of Russian aggression in the Baltics, Lithuania's Defense Minister Juozas Olekas told Reuters: "We cannot exclude it ... They might exercise on the borders and then switch to invasion in hours." (Read more)
- Father God, as Your watchmen on the wall, let us not be so caught up in our own crises that we forget to pray for the nations. Lord God, this situation in Europe is rapidly becoming a flashpoint that could lead all of us into war. Help us, O Lord, we pray, amen.
- "I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill."
(Psalm 3:4)
9. Polls show increasing support for Brexit; Murdoch's Sun backs 'Leave' - Reuters
Britain's "Leave" campaign opened up a 7-point lead over "Remain" ahead of a referendum on membership of the European Union an opinion poll showed late Monday, while the nation's biggest-selling newspaper urged readers to vote to quit the bloc.
The result of the June 23 referendum will have far-reaching consequences for politics, the economy, defense, migration and diplomacy in Britain and elsewhere.
Recent polls are suggesting that momentum has swung towards the "Leave" camp, or a so called Brexit, unsettling investors. "Leave" in recent days has focused its campaign on the issue of immigration. (Read more)
- Father, we freely admit that, as Your intercessors, most of us know little, if anything, about this critical vote that will soon be taken in England, which will determine whether they will remain as part of the EU or "exit." Either way, we understand that this decision will have great repercussions on our own economy in the U.S. We pray in the Spirit over this matter, asking for Your will to be done, in Your name, amen.
- "Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." (Matthew 6:10)
10. Israel named head of UN body for first time - YnetNews
An Israeli ambassador to the UN will head a UN committee for the first time since joining the organization in 1949, Danon was elected after a diplomatic campaign including opposition by Muslim member-states.
After months of behind-the-scenes diplomatic struggles, Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon was elected to head the UN Legal Committee (officially named the Sixth Committee) on Monday. The committee deals with sensitive topics including fighting global terrorism.
This is a historic event, as it marks the first time an Israeli representative will head a permanent UN committee since its induction into the organization in 1949. 109 nations voted for Danon . . (Read more)
- Lord God, we are so blessed to be able to end today's report with this GOOD NEWS. We praise You that the U.N. is finally rendering Israel the honor it is due. We ask for Your Hand of blessing to rest upon Israeli Ambassador Danon as he assumes the leadership of this strategic committee. Praise the Lord!

Living with Islamic terror to the prophetic end
Though the US "president" refuses to call it what it is-Islamic terror-21st Century America is learning the unfortunate lesson of Islam. Islam is not compatible with a free society. Israel faces the same reality every day, living in the shadows of Islamic terrorism. The more Islam, the more slavery, crime, death and destruction. This is historic fact. Every State Department report on human rights points to the nations that violate liberty and human rights. They are those of Islamic influence. The "president" and the presumptive Democratic Party nominee for President, Hillary Clinton, both seek to import such by the hundreds of thousands. The deadly virus of Islam is here and is welcomed by certain politicians.
Islam is a beast system that attempts to devour all who assist it, all who oppose it, all who live within it. When the US "president" negotiated with the Islamic terrorist state of Iran, Iran's Islamic leadership condemned America as satan. While billions of dollars were being released to Iran for its signature on a nuclear deal, Iran was not feeding its people, but rather increasing its military development by a like amount. There has been no US "president" as friendly to Islam as the current one, yet America is under continuous threat of Islamic terrorism. Wherever there is Islam, the peaceful and law abiding are in danger. The policies and Islamic advisors of America's leadership have put our families in harms way.
Islam claims its roots in Ishmael. Genesis 16:11-12 says, "And the angel of the Lord said unto her (Hagar), Behold, you are with child, and shall bear a son, and shall call his name Ishmael...And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him." Later, Esau (son of Isaac, brother of Jacob, grandson of Abraham) married Ishmael's daughter Bashemath. Esau's lineage became the enemies of God's people along with the Ishmaelites. This heritage is what informs modern Islam as established by Mohammad, who claimed to be a direct descendent of Ishmael. Since its beginning, this has been a violence upon those who follow the one true God, YHVH.
The beast nations that attack Israel in the "latter days" are Islamic. Ezekiel 38 and 39 describe the nations that come against Israel in a colossal end time battle. Magog, Meshech, and Tubal are located in modern Turkey. Persia is modern Iran. Ethiopia is modern Sudan. Libya is Libya. All are aggressive Islamic states. The theme of Genesis 16:12 is repeated in Ezekiel 38:21, "And I will call for a sword against him (Gog) throughout all my mountains, says the Lord God: every man's sword shall be against his brother." Islam is a death cult. It thrives on death and destruction. It plies the weak with its religion, saying "peace, peace" when there is no peace. Because of bad leadership, Americans will have to learn to live with Islamic terror to the prophetic end. This Islamic virus is an ever-present threat to the civil and law abiding.
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

What's wrong with this picture?
How can the news media and a vast number of Americans support the actions of leaders that are detrimental and harmful to society? It makes no sense whatsoever for the "president" and then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to allow, and continue to allow, so-called "immigrants" into America from known terrorist states and have no idea of their religious/political beliefs that are dangerous to American citizens. And when these Islamic time bombs blow up, the "president" and Hillary Clinton want to disarm law-abiding citizens instead of going after the enemy. Something is terribly wrong with this picture. The American public should demand better than esoteric garbage ruling over common sense.
Our leaders have allowed this invasion of Islamic terrorists year after year, filling America with a deadly political system disguised as a religion. At the same time, these very leaders not only advocate, but demand, that Americans be disarmed so that Islamists can kill them easier. No-sorry-it's true. These very leaders passionately advocate the tax-funded infanticide of millions of unborn Americans. These very leaders are advocates of lifestyles that are immoral and dangerous to society. These very leaders, and I'm talking the "president," Hillary Clinton, and a host of those in Congress, support the most deadly policies against you and me, and they make us pay them for it. What's wrong with this picture?
I have said it before and I will say it again: Islam is a beast system that attempts to devour all who assist it, all who oppose it, all who live within it. Its evils reach far beyond what any of us can even imagine. Yet we have an Islamic Marxist "president" for two terms. He has a nest of these vipers in high places in his government-in positions overseeing parts of national security. Hillary Clinton's top aid Huma Abedin has ties to the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood. The Clinton's Presidential Library is funded by Saudi Arabia, another terrorist sponsoring state. The Democratic Party's love affair with Islam goes wide and deep. Yet we continue to allow these people to lead our country. What's wrong with this picture?
Christian Americans have the moral ground, the authority and the majority to change this picture. We have got to stop arguing about stupid things, humble ourselves to what is important, and quit over-spiritualizing everything to make ourselves look holy when we are just using platitudes as an excuse for inaction. Ephesians 4:14 says, "That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive." We need to stand up against these people whose words are nonsensical political correctness and deeds are clearly lethal to the general welfare and to the protection of life, liberty and happiness.
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Congress Responds to Shootings

Congress Responds to Shootings
- Father God, as different members of Congress begin to respond and react to the Orlando massacre, we ask that You place Your hand upon each one. Father, let our government not make hasty decisions, based on emotions, but rule in the wise counsel of the Lord. You are still our God.
1. A Day After Shooting, House Democrats Erupt in Protest - ABC News
A day after a mass shooting in Orlando, Democratic lawmakers erupted on the House floor with loud criticism of House Speaker Paul Ryan and other Republican leaders for leaving the nation's gun laws untouched. Some protested by leaving the House floor during a moment of silence honoring the victims.
Democrats yelled "Where's the bill?" and "No leadership!" Monday evening after Ryan held a moment of silence for 49 people killed at an Orlando nightclub early Sunday.
The disruption came after South Carolina Rep. Jim Clyburn, the No. 3 Democrat in the House, attempted to ask Ryan on the floor when bills curbing gun use would be considered. Before Clyburn could finish, Ryan ruled his question out of order and directed the House to move to the next vote.
After the disruption, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi told reporters Democrats have "had enough" of moments of silence after mass shootings when Congress does not act to tighten gun laws. (Read more)
2. Connecticut's Senators, Who Know Something About Gun Violence, Blame Congress For Orlando Slaughter - Huffington Post
Connecticut's U.S. senators blamed Congress for the killing of at least 50 people early Sunday at an Orlando club, saying lawmakers' inaction on gun control makes them "complicit" in the shooting rampage.
Sens. Chris Murphy and Richard Blumenthal, both Democrats and vocal gun control advocates, represent the community of Newtown, where a gunman fatally shot 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012.
"This phenomenon of near constant mass shootings happens only in America - nowhere else," Murphy said Sunday. "Congress has become complicit in these murders by its total, unconscionable deafening silence. This doesn't have to happen, but this epidemic will continue without end if Congress continues to sit on its hands and do nothing - again."
"As we learn more in shock and horror about the deadliest mass shooting in our history, my heart breaks for the families of loved ones lost or injured - and for our nation, continuing to suffer from this unspeakable epidemic of gun violence," Blumenthal said. "The Senate's inaction on commonsense gun violence prevention makes it complicit in this public health crisis. Prayers and platitudes are insufficient. The American public is beseeching us to act on commonsense, sensible gun violence prevention measures, and we must heed that call." (Read more)
3. In Wake of Orlando, Senate Democrats to Push to End 'Terror Loophole' for Gun Buyers - KTLA5
Senate Democrats as early as this week will push for another vote on legislation that would prevent people on the federal government's terrorism watch list from buying guns, joining Hillary Clinton in trying to seize momentum in the debate over gun restrictions even though it's unlikely to be approved in the Republican-led chamber.
Separately Monday, the head of a major gun control group said they are not pushing to ban the AR-15-type weapon used in the Orlando massacre because their top priority now is passing the watch list legislation and an update to the Brady background check law that was enacted in 1993. (Read more)

Obama & Orlando
Sunday afternoon, President Obama took to the podium at the White House briefing room and turned the Orlando attack into a tirade against guns. Obama said that the FBI had "reached no definitive judgment on the precise motivations of the killer." In fact, the FBI had a pretty good idea given that Omar Mateen called 911 and pledged his loyalty to ISIS.
Obama blamed hate and guns. And as he has done his entire administration, he left out the most important point: This was an act of ideology, formed and driven by an Islamic supremacist theology.
We do not have certainty about how many Muslims are infected with this supremacist ideology. We do know, however, that it is not an insignificant number.
For example, it is so widespread that the Islamic Republic of Iran is built on it, and many Iranians pray and work toward the day when a second Holocaust can be successfully carried out. (Gary Bauer)

Terror Nation
It's happened again: American blood spilled on American soil by a radical Islamic gunman in what is the deadliest terrorist attack since 9/11.
The victims, shot down at an Orlando nightclub, were apparently targeted because of their sexual identity. Regardless of our country's profound differences on policies, lifestyles, religious beliefs, or anything else, we must make clear that no American -- not one -- should fear being attacked by a terrorist for any reason.
Unfortunately, the attacks on U.S. soil have only grown in this administration's refusal to call them what they are -- Islamic terrorism. The gunman, a homegrown extremist who reportedly pledged his allegiance to ISIS before his bloody rampage, left little doubt about his motivation -- a motivation the president still refuses to confront. Almost eight years into his now fatal agenda of political correctness, President Obama couldn't even bring himself to say the words "radical Islam" in the speech following the attack. It was a stunning omission, one that left viewers' mouths ajar. Donald Trump, who is both revered and reviled for his tough talk on Muslims, argued the president should resign in disgrace. "People cannot. . . believe that President Obama is acting the way he acts and can't even mention the words 'radical Islamic terrorism.' There's something going on. It's inconceivable. There's something going on." (FRC) Read more.

Prayers During Ramadan
June 14: Lebanon
Christians in Lebanon are asking believers to pray Psalm 92:12-13 with them:
"The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree,
He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
Those who are planted in the house of the Lord
Shall flourish in the courts of our God."
- Continue to pray for the local churches reaching out to Syrian refugees. Pray for local believers to grow deeper in knowledge and application of Scripture. Pray for the local churches to have strength to continue to reach out and to be bright lights in the midst of the current situation and the refugee crisis.
- Across Lebanon, groups of Syrian Muslim refugees are taking part in Discovery Bible Studies (DBS). Pray many will become disciples of Jesus and lead others to become disciples (2 Timothy 2:2).
- In Southern Lebanon, numerous refugee families live in informal camps under severe conditions and in poverty. Pray for the Syrian children who are not admitted into public schools and are working to support their families.

Nepal authorities arrest seven Christians over allegations of converting people to Christianity
Seven Christians were arrested on Thursday, June 9, in Dolakha district, Nepal for allegedly converting people to Christianity.
The seven Christians had reportedly distributed handkerchiefs together with Bible handbooks called "A Great Story" to a total of 885 students.
Among those arrested, two were owners and principals of private schools: Prakash Pradhan, proprietor of Mount Valley Boarding School, and Bimal Shahi, proprietor of Modern Nepal School. Pradhan and Shahi often organize activities for the students.
The others who were arrested were part of a Christian organization called Teach Nepal: Banita Dangol, Bhim Bahadur Tamang, Balkrishna Rai, Kiran Dahal and Philip Tamang. (Read more)
- Father, we pray for the safekeeping of these seven brothers and sisters in Christ. May their testimony rebound to Your glory we pray, in Jesus' name, amen.
- "But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say . . ." (Matthew 10:19)

Songs Our Grandmothers Sang:
BE STILL, MY SOUL
"Be still, and know that I am God." (Psalm 46:10)
Lyrics
Be still, my soul: the Lord is on thy side. Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain. Leave to thy God to order and provide; In every change, He faithful will remain. Be still, my soul: thy best, thy heavenly Friend Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.
Be still, my soul: thy God doth undertake To guide the future, as He has the past. Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake; All now mysterious shall be bright at last. Be still, my soul: the waves and winds still know His voice Who ruled them while He dwelt below.
Be still, my soul: when dearest friends depart, And all is darkened in the vale of tears, Then shalt thou better know His love, His heart, Who comes to soothe thy sorrow and thy fears. Be still, my soul: thy Jesus can repay From His own fullness all He takes away.
Be still, my soul: the hour is hastening on When we shall be forever with the Lord. When disappointment, grief and fear are gone, Sorrow forgot, love's purest joys restored. Be still, my soul: when change and tears are past All safe and blessèd we shall meet at last.
Be still, my soul: begin the song of praise On earth, believing, to Thy Lord on high; Acknowledge Him in all thy words and ways, So shall He view thee with a well pleased eye. Be still, my soul: the Sun of life divine Through passing clouds shall but more brightly shine.

About the Author:
Words: Katharina A. von Schlegel, 1752
translated from German to English by Jane L. Borthwick in Hymns from the Land of Luther, 1855.
Music: Jean Sibelius, 1899
About the Hymn:
This hymn was reportedly the favorite of Eric Liddell, the athlete who became famous in the 1924 Olympics for refusing to run on the Sabbath (see the movie Chariots of Fire). Liddell later became a missionary in China, and was imprisoned during World War II. He is said to have taught this hymn to others in the prison camp (where he eventually died of a brain tumor).

Russia's New 'Nuclear Torpedo' Can Create Giant Tsunamis
and Wipe Out Entire Coastal Cities
While the eyes of the world are on ISIS, Russia is creating weapons unlike anything the world has ever seen before. Plans for a giant self-propelled nuclear torpedo that can create a giant tsunami more than 1,000 feet tall were recently "leaked by mistake" by the Russian media.
Apparently the warheads on these torpedoes are designed to create so much radiation "that everything living will be killed"-including those who try to survive the attack by hiding in underground shelters. These "robotic mini-submarines" would have a range of up to 10,000 kilometers and would be able to evade all existing U.S. detection systems. To say that such a weapon would be a "game changer" would be a massive understatement.
. . . Konstantin Sivkov of the Russian Geopolitical Academy told the BBC that this kind of weapon could be used to create a tsunami more than 1,000 feet high:
"A warhead of up to 100 megatons could produce a tsunami up to 500m (1,650 ft) high, wiping out all living things 1,500 km (930 miles) deep inside US territory."
As I have written about previously, a whopping 39 percent of all Americans live in counties that directly border a shoreline. The detonation of just a handful of these weapons could wipe out the entire east coast and kill off a very substantial percentage of the U.S. population.
. . . Worst of all, we would have no advance warning that these torpedoes were coming. They can be launched from anywhere, they reportedly have a range of up to 10,000 kilometers, and they are designed to "avoid all acoustic tracking devices and other traps." - Father God, we ask that this terrible weapon never be used against our nation or any other nation in the future. As we bow our knees in repentance, we ask that You would send forth Your holy angels to dismantle this weapon, that it would be rendered useless. Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayers, in Your name, amen.
- "No weapon formed against you shall prosper . . ." (Isaiah 54:17a)

Amazing Rendition of the U.S. National Anthem
500 high school choir students sing the U.S. National anthem in a high-rise hotel. Each night before curfew, they gather on their balconies to sing the Star-Spangled Banner from the balconies of the 18-story atrium at Louisville's downtown Hyatt Regency as part of the Kentucky Music Educators convention. You can't help it but get goose bumps when you hear them sing.
