". . . nothing will be impossible with God." (Philippians 3:13,14)

The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" (Rev. 22:17)

The Middle East in Focus

"Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the LORD, who has compassion on you." (Isaiah 54:10)

GOD SENDS A SIGN OF LIFE IN THE SKIES OVER ISRAEL

Amazing. Above Israel, "Chai" shines -- the Hebrew symbol of life!

Please note:

Even though some of the headlines we bring you are naming "Palestine" as a state, in the Word of God there is no "Palestine." Rather, the correct terminology is "the West Bank" or "Judea and Samaria." The only state is the state of Israel.

Due to legal constraints, we are not allowed to change text we are forwarding to you. Thank you for hearing our heart in this critical matter.

1. Yossi Cohen takes the reins as new Mossad chief - Times of Israel

National Security Adviser Yossi Cohen officially became Israel's 12th Mossad chief Wednesday in a changing-of-the-guard ceremony at Mossad headquarters. On Tuesday, the top leaders, current and former, of the country's political and defense establishments held a speech-riddled and occasionally touching farewell gathering for retiring agency head Tamir Pardo.

"We can't talk about all that you have done all these decades - and even more so these past five years when you stood at the head of the longest, most daring arm of the State of Israel - for the country and the Jewish people as a whole," President Reuven Rivlin told Pardo at the gathering. 2. New Mossad chief: Iran deal 'significantly increases' threat to Israel - Times of Israel

The nuclear agreement signed between Iran and six world powers in July has "significantly increased" the threat to Israel posed by the Islamic republic, Yossi Cohen warned Wednesday as he was sworn in as the new head of the Mossad intelligence agency. Still, he added, he was confident the spy agency would be able to formulate an "appropriate response."

"The key challenge is the Iranian threat," Cohen said during the swearing-in ceremony at Mossad's headquarters in Tel Aviv. "Despite the nuclear deal - I think because of it - the threat has significantly increased."

Cohen, who previously served as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's national security adviser, also pointed to internecine conflict in the Muslim world and the strengthening of regional terror organizations as a threat to the entire world, and to Israel in particular. (Read more)

3. Report that Netanyahu may renege on budget deal angers Arab leaders - Jerusalem Post

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's decision to appoint Likud ministers Ze'ev Elkin and Yarin Levin to oversee enforcement of conditions for the NIS 10-15 billion budget deal for the sector enraged Arab leaders on Tuesday.

The conditions are expected to include issues of law enforcement and compliance with building regulations, Channel 2 reported on Monday evening. However, the Prime Minister's Office responded soon after that "there is no change" in the deal. (Read more)

4. IDF officer to Saudi paper: Israel has 'common language' with moderate Arab states - Jerusalem Post

A senior IDF officer told Saudi news outlet Elaph in a long interview that touched on regional security issues, that the Shi'ite militant group Hezbollah should not make a foolish mistake that will lead to a harsh Israeli reaction which would place Lebanese citizens' lives at risk.

Without specifying, the officer confirmed that Israel had secret relations and common interests with a number of Arab states besides Egypt and Jordan.

The item in Elaph was the second interview an Israeli official has given the Saudi paper in recent weeks. (Read more)

5. Report: Russia Tries to Rein in Hezbollah After IDF Convoy Attack - Algemeiner

Russia encouraged Hezbollah to keep the peace with Israel on the Lebanese border, Israeli national radio reported on Tuesday.

According to Saudi-owned Al Arabiya, Moscow wants to prevent a violent conflict from erupting between Hezbollah and the IDF beyond Monday's attack, in which Hezbollah bombed an IDF convoy in the largely rural region straddling the hilly Israeli-Lebanese border, Israel Radio reported.

Hezbollah's ongoing involvement in the Syrian civil war, the deepening crisis between Saudi Arabia and Iran, which backs Hezbollah, and the group's ongoing battles with rebel groups on the Lebanese border have not drawn Hezbollah's attention away from its open-ended battle with Israel, according to the report. 6. Father of alleged Tel Aviv gunman arrested as accessory - Jewish Telegraph Agency

JERUSALEM (JTA) - The father of the alleged gunman in the deadly shooting on a Tel Aviv bar was arrested in connection with the attack. Mohammed Melhem was questioned on Tuesday along with five other family members and friends. They are suspected of being accessories to the killings on Friday.

The search for Nashat Melhem, 31, entered its fifth day on Tuesday. On Monday, Mohammed Melhem made a televised appeal to his son to turn himself in. "I call on my son directly, if you can, cooperate with me and contact me to arrange matters," the elder Melhem said. "I will help you. Let's end this saga. These are difficult days for the family." He also condemned the attack. (Read more)

7. Police reassure Tel Avivians as manhunt stretches on - Israel Hayom

The manhunt for Nashat Milhem, the gunman who killed two Israelis and wounded seven others at a central Tel Aviv bar on Friday, entered its fifth day Tuesday, as police and Border Police forces were joined by the military's canine unit, Oketz. Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan told Army Radio Tuesday that the police working assumption is that Milhem was able to escape the greater Tel Aviv area.

"We have no intention of letting the terrorist know what we know about his escape route. Right now, there is no reason to believe he is in the Tel Aviv area," Erdan said. (Read more)

3. Alabama chief justice orders halt to same-sex marriage licenses- Reuters

The chief justice of Alabama's Supreme Court ordered the state's probate judges on Wednesday not to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples despite a ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court last year legalizing gay marriage.

Gay marriage activists and legal experts assailed the order, arguing last June's landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision afforded same-sex couples the right to marry in all 50 states.

In a phone interview Chief Justice Roy Moore, who issued the order, said judges were bound by the state Supreme Court's decision last March halting same-sex marriage until that court determines the effect on the state of the national ruling.

The GOP-controlled House of Representatives on Wednesday afternoon passed legislation that would repeal Obamacare, and after more than 60 votes to roll back all or part of the law, the bill dismantle it will finally get to the president's desk.

But it won't stay there long; President Barack Obama has vowed to veto any Republican bill that guts his signature health care law, an effort that has been underway for more than five years.

The vote was 240-181, largely along party lines.

The Daily Jot

The prophetic plan amidst the storm

There are many events taking place around us that would be frightening in of themselves-devastating storms and earthquakes; the threat of terrorism; political disruption; the threat of internal war with Islam-just to name a few. Some of this uncertainty has prompted many to ask the age old question, "Does God have a plan for my life?" The answer is yes, yes He does. You should be encouraged because you are born a unique individual who is loved by the Creator of the universe, and He wants to see you experience joy, happiness, love and success. But often the toils of this world cause us concern and get in the way.

For example, throughout my life, I have had ups and downs that caused me to question God's plan for my life. But it was really me that was the question. God knows how you were made as confirmed by Psalm 139:14, "I will praise thee for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knows right well." Jesus said in Matthew 10:30, "But the very hairs of your head are all numbered." And God knows what is best for you and He has in mind the very best for you. Through the Apostle Paul, God tells us in Romans 12:2, "be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."

See, even when we allow our own selves to get in the way of God's plan, it is still there for us. And we can fall into the deepest valley, the darkest time of our life, and God will be there for us. He said in Isaiah 46:4, "And even to your old age I am He; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you; I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry and deliver you." So no matter how low you are or how much the world is closing in on you, the Lord God, your Salvation, is with you. And His plan for you is perfect. So you do have a destiny. You were created to glorify God. That is your purpose. How you accomplish that is your calling.

I knew that God had called me to evangelize when I was 16. I refused the calling and pursued my own earthly goals. And the Lord brought me to a point, after much life experience, that I could no longer ignore His calling. But then I heard nothing from Him. I had to seek Him, pour out my heart to Him in fasting and prayer. And even that did not work until after 54 days when I finally had my answer to discern the times and events and call people to the Lord. My point is that we often do wonder what God has in mind for us, but in order to find out, we must seek God with all our heart, mind and soul, even sometimes to the point of travail, so He knows we are serious. So don't give up, press in. Press in hard. For your destiny is at hand.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Ancient Jewish Prophecy Coming True

800-Year-Old Prophecy Declares When "King of Persia Will Provoke King of Arabia" Redemption is Around the Corner

When Saudi Arabia severed diplomatic ties with Iran, this created a chain reaction that led Bahrain and other Middle Eastern countries to expel Iranian diplomats. Unwittingly, Saudi Arabia's actions can be seen as the fulfillment of a messianic Jewish prophecy found in the ancient Jewish holy book known as the Yalkut Shimoni.

The Yalkut Shimoni, a compilation of rabbinic commentary on the Bible, is believed to have been composed in the 13th century. Despite being written over 800 years ago, the Yalkut Shimoni has something extremely relevant to say about today's headlines.

Speaking about the relevant passage in the Yalkut Shimoni, Rabbi Yekusiel Yehudah Halberstam, better known as the Klausenberger Rebbe, said, "Remember these words. Now, perhaps, they are not understood, but in time, they will be, and they will be a source of chizuk (strength) to Am Yisroel (the Jewish people)." The Klausenberger Rebbe was an Orthodox rabbi with thousands of followers in the years prior to World War II. Most of his followers were murdered in the Holocaust. The Klausenberger Rebbe died in Israel in 1994.
What was the prophecy of the Yalkut Shimoni that the Klausenberger Rebbe knew would bring comfort and strength to the Jewish people at a future date? The Yalkut Shimoni predicted that the year the Messiah would appear, the "King of Persia [Iran] will provoke the King of Arabia [Saudi Arabia]."

Huge Pro-Life Victory on the Hill!

Family Research Council Thanks Congress for Sending President Obama Bill Removing Taxpayer Funding for Planned Parenthood, Repealing Parts of Obamacare

"If the President vetoes this bill, he alone will bear the moral responsibility," says FRC's Tony Perkins

Family Research Council applauds the U.S. House of Representatives for sending to the President's desk a budget reconciliation bill dealing with funding for Planned Parenthood and the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, commonly known as Obamacare.

The Restoring Americans' Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act would remove, for one year, most funding under several mandatory programs such as Medicaid for abortion entities, including Planned Parenthood. The bill would also repeal key provisions of Obamacare, which encourages subsidies for abortion coverage and threatens conscience protections.

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins made the following statement about this vote:

"Congress sent a clear message today to the President on behalf of unborn children, their mothers, and for taxpayers. Never before has Congress been able to send a bill to President Obama's desk ending the forced partnership between taxpayers and Planned Parenthood. We owe a deep debt of gratitude to the many Members of Congress who made the protection of the unborn, and the repeal of pro-abortion, punitive mandates within Obamacare such a high priority.

"In their role as representatives of the people, Congress has spoken. It is now up to the President to decide whether to continue funding Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion provider which ended the lives of 323,999 innocent babies during their last reported fiscal year alone, or whether he will listen to the American people. If the President vetoes this bill, he alone will bear the moral responsibility for sending our tax dollars to a group that has allegedly engaged in the selling of baby body parts for profit.

"A critical precedent has now been set for moving a similar measure forward when America finally has a President who understands the value of every person, born and unborn. What has formerly been viewed as impossible has now been made much more possible, and we look forward to the day when a pro-life Congress sends a similar bill to a pro-life President to sign into law.

"We thank all of House Leadership, especially Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.), Budget Committee Chairman Tom Price (R-Ga.), as well as the co-chairs of the House Values Action Team, Representatives Joe Pitts (R-Pa.), John Fleming (R-La.), and Vicky Hartzler (R-Mo.), for their hard work and partnership with the Senate in making today's vote possible. Indeed, without the unified efforts of House and Senate Republicans, this historic precedent and victory would have been impossible," concluded Perkins.

Outrage over Gun Order

Obama's Gun Order Triggers Outrage

The media's focus may have been on the president's tears during his gun control speech, but it should have been on the cries of freedom-loving Americans. After seven years of watching the administration wipe its feet on the Constitution, this latest power grab epitomizes everything people have come to resent about the White House. This week, the president's impersonation of the legislative branch got personal with the announcement of a four-point plan to curb one of the country's most important rights: to keep and bear arms.

The same man who spoke in front of a "We Can't Wait" banner three years ago obviously hasn't become more patient in his second term. Instead, the president is doing what we've come to expect when he can't persuade Congress to rubber-stamp his agenda -- taking matters into his own hands. Although the details are still vague, the administration is expected to roll back some of the background check exemptions for sport shooters and collectors, hire more bureaucrats to run background checks, spend $500 million more on mental health care, and crackdown on gun dealers' licensures.

s Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.) told me yesterday on "Washington Watch" radio, "In the case of this president, the devils are in the lack of details. From what I've read in the summary of his some of his executive actions are left purposefully vague. And whenever you leave these things vague, it's up to the interpretation of the regulators and enforcers." President Obama insists his orders are entirely consistent with the Second Amendment. And I suppose Americans are supposed to take his word for it? A man whose administration is synonymous with lawlessness? A man who's been rebuked by the highest courts in the country for his overreach on everything from recess appointments to immigration?
Anyone with a seventh grade education knows that the executive branch isn't supposed to legislate. But that's never stopped the Obama administration. Remember, this is a man who built his presidency on circumventing Congress with dozens of controversial executive orders. As the president has said before, he "refuses to take 'no' for an answer." Even if that "no" comes from the Constitution itself. "Congress needs to act," he insisted. Well, as Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) pointed out, Congress did act. It just didn't do what the White House wanted. "[The president's] proposals to restrict gun rights were debated by the United States Senate, and they were rejected. No president should be able to reverse legislative failure by executive fiat, not even incrementally." (FRC) Read more

North Korea's Nukes

North Korea's Nukes

The U.N. Security Council held an emergency, closed-door meeting this morning to discuss North Korea's claim that it successfully tested a hydrogen bomb. The underground detonation was some kind of nuclear device, but intelligence analysts are skeptical, for the moment at least, that it was in fact a hydrogen bomb. If it was a hydrogen bomb, the national security threats to our allies and us would grow significantly.

Not only is the explosive power of a hydrogen bomb dramatically greater than anything North Korea is known to currently possess, H-bombs are also generally smaller and lighter. It is conceivable that the missiles North Korea possesses could easily carry the payload. Those missiles can strike much of Asia, including U.S. military bases in the region. Moreover, a top U.S. military official recently expressed his belief that the regime can strike the U.S. homeland.

Whatever this test was, it is one more example of provocative actions from a hostile nation that believes Obama is weak. But it is also the result of multiple administrations that were unwilling to follow policies that could have prevented one of the worst actors in the world from gaining access to the worst weapons in the world. What you are seeing with North Korea now is what you will see with Iran under the weak policies being pursued by Barack Obama. Don't forget that North Korea has been working very closely with Iran to develop the arsenals of both nations.

Perhaps Secretary of State John Kerry and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton might want to go to a microphone today and explain to the American people why the Obama Administration believes that the greatest threat facing mankind is that average temperatures may go up two degrees over the next few decades. The warming we should be worried about is the temperature a city reaches when a hydrogen bomb explodes. (Gary Bauer)

Iran Shows Off Its Missiles

Iran Shows Off Its Missiles

While North Korea is flexing its muscles, Iran is showing off its vast arsenal of nuclear-capable ballistic missiles. Iran recently test-fired these missiles in clear violation of U.N. resolutions.

Don't miss the significance of this display, my friends. We are just days away from "Implementation Day," when sanctions are formally lifted against the Islamic Republic of Iran. Billions of dollars will pour into the mullahs' coffers at this sensitive moment, and the regime is literally bragging about its illegal missile capabilities! The Iranians are declaring victory over the West.

The president should immediately announce -- and should get our European allies to join us -- that sanctions will not be lifted because Iran is clearly violating both the letter and spirit of the nuclear agreement, as well as existing U.N. resolutions. Unfortunately, this president won't do that.

I can only hope that Congress will do everything it can to hold the administration responsible for the deal it negotiated and resist efforts to lift sanctions on the rogue regime in Tehran. (Gary Bauer)

The Persecuted Church

Iran Moves to Convert Confiscated Church Ground into Mosque

The Iranian regime is proving its intolerance towards Christians in the Islamic nation once again in an inequitable move to convert grounds illegally confiscated from Assyrian Christian church into a mosque.

The property, belonging to Iran's Assyrian community's Chaldean Catholic Church in the capital city of Tehran's Patrice Lumumba Street, was illegally confiscated two years ago when church leaders were told that an Islamic prayer hall would be built there.

The Assyrian representative at the Islamic Assembly in Iran has protested the takeover, against the backdrop of increased crackdowns on this minority Christian group. Government authorities are refusing to return the property.

Under Iran's rogue theocratic government, traditionally, native Christians belonging to the Assyrian and Armenian Churches have enjoyed more freedoms than those targeted for converting to Christianity and away from Islam. (Foreign Desk) Read more.

Songs Our Grandmothers Sang:

WE'LL UNDERSTAND IT BETTER BY AND BY

"Later you will understand." (John 13:7)

Lyrics

We are tossed and driv'n on the restless sea of time; Somber skies and howling tempests oft succeed a bright sunshine; In that land of perfect day, when the mists have rolled away, We will understand it better by and by.

Refrain

By and by, when the morning comes,
When the saints of God are gathered home,
We'll tell the story how we've overcome,
For we'll understand it better by and by.

We are often destitute of the things that life demands, Want of food and want of shelter, thirsty hills and barren lands; We are trusting in the Lord, and according to God's Word, We will understand it better by and by.

Refrain

Trials dark on every hand, and we cannot understand All the ways that God could lead us to that blessèd promised land; But He guides us with His eye, and we'll follow till we die, For we'll understand it better by and by.

Refrain

Temptations, hidden snares often take us unawares, And our hearts are made to bleed for a thoughtless word or deed; And we wonder why the test when we try to do our best, But we'll understand it better by and by.

Residents Brace For Third Rainstorm Of Season In Southern California

Residents across Southern California Wednesday braced for a third rainstorm of the season.

According to the National Weather Service, strong winds and moderate to heavy rainfall with a chance for thunderstorms is expected throughout the day.

A flash flood warning for the Calgrove burn area of northwestern Los Angeles County will remain in effect until 2 p.m., forecasters said.

The heaviest rainfall is expected to occur between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., triggering between a half-inch and an inch of rain per hour, meteorologists added.

The current El Nino - a natural warming of the central Pacific Ocean that interacts with the atmosphere and changes weather worldwide - has tied 1997-1998 as the strongest on record, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Climate Prediction Center said, citing statistics that go back to 1950.

El Ninos usually bring heavy rains to California, although it remains to be seen whether people should expect anything like a repeat of 1997 and 1998, when storms killed 17 people, wiped out crops, washed out highways and pushed houses down hillsides. (Read more)

Strickland's Widow on Husband's Final Moments: 'I Know He Saw Jesus'

The wife of 29-year-old country singer Craig M. Strickland says searchers have found his body. He went missing last week after he went duck hunting with a friend at Kaw Lake in Oklahoma.

Helen Strickland posted online, "They found him lying in the shape of a cross looking up to his Father."

The body of Strickland's hunting partner, Chase Morland, 22, was recovered Dec. 28.

Strickland says it appears her husband was able to drag himself out of the lake before dying.

"The night of the accident he had fought his way out of the water and up a hill before the stages of hypothermia set in. He experienced no pain in his final moments and simply felt like he was falling asleep," she said.

Strickland testified online, saying, "I know he saw Jesus at that moment when he laid down and walked arm in arm with Him into a better Everlasting Life." (CBN) Read more here.
