Important Message to All of our Readers
Email has changed again!
Dear Friends,
Thank you all for your "patience and longsuffering" with us as we have worked to sort out our email issue here in our office.
Some have asked why our original email (chpp@patriot.net) had to be changed. Good question! This happened because our server for the past 22 years, Patriotnet, suddenly went out of business!
So . .. it was time to start over!
Next, we tried our recent address:
chpp1994@yahoo.com
BUT that one is not working well for us either. (We will spare you the details.)
We have now settled upon our third and FINAL, PERMANENT email address, which is:
chpp1994@gmail.com
For those of you who have us registered in your address books, thank you for making the change to: chpp1994@gmail.com
And for all others, if you simply hit "reply" on any Daily Brief to get a message to us, that will work, too!
In His Amazing Grace,
and thanking God for our wonderful tech support team here at CHPP, too,
Jim and Sara Ballenger

GOD SENDS A SIGN OF LIFE IN THE SKIES OVER ISRAEL
Amazing. Above Israel, "Chai" shines -- the Hebrew symbol of life!
Please note:
Even though some of the headlines we bring you are naming "Palestine" as a state, in the Word of God there is no "Palestine." Rather, the correct terminology is "the West Bank" or "Judea and Samaria." The only state is the state of Israel.
Due to legal constraints, we are not allowed to change text we are forwarding to you. Thank you for hearing our heart in this critical matter.

5. Manhunt for Tel Aviv shooter enters fourth day - Israel National News
The manhunt for Nashat Melhem, the Arab citizen who murdered two Israelis Friday afternoon in a shooting attack at a pub on Dizengoff Street in Tel Aviv, will continue on Monday, four days after the attack on one of Tel Aviv's busiest streets.
Alon Bakal (26) and Shimon Ruimi (29) were murdered in the attack and several others were wounded, and an hour later the body of taxi driver Amin Shaban was found shot dead in the north of the city. Police are still trying to figure out whether Melhem murdered the taxi driver as well, or whether his murder was a robbery that went awry.
The latest development, as reported by Yedioth Ahronoth, is that the cell phone of Melhem was found by a student in a side road in the Tel Aviv suburb of Ramat Aviv.

7. How one phrase divided the EU and Israel - - Politico
Israel's U.S. ambassador sent gift boxes for the 2015 holiday season containing wine, olive oil, body cream, and halva - and a defiant note calling out the European Union.
The products came from what the international community considers to be occupied territories, and Ambassador Ron Dermer was determined to make a blunt point about the EU's recent move to instruct member countries on how to label goods produced in areas outside Israel's 1967 borders.
"The Jewish state is singled out and held to a different standard than other countries," Dermer wrote. "Of the over 200 unresolved territorial disputes around the world, Europe decided that only these Jewish-made products deserved to be labeled."

1. Wall Street Slammed: Dow Sees Worst First Day of the Year Since '08 - Fox News
Investors who thought global markets turned the page on 2015's investment themes got a rude awakening on Monday as last summer's concerns over China's economy resurfaced, though Wall Street ended well off session lows. Just hours into the first session of 2016, China kicked off the New Year with a trading halt as concerns flared again about economic growth in the nation. Jitters spread to global equity markets, hitting U.S. stocks hard. The Dow saw its worst first day of the year since 2008, while the Nasdaq and S&P 500 saw their worst first day of the year since 2001. (Read more)
- Precious Lord, we must rest upon You and the work of Your Son Jesus on the Cross to be able not to be shaken by the day to day news of the world. Although this news causes fear in those who do not know You, we trust in You, the anchor of our souls. Praise You, Precious Lord, for Your watch-care over us everyday of the year!
- "Wisdom and knowledge will be the stability of your times, and the strength of salvation; the fear of the Lord is His treasure." (Isaiah 33:6)
2. Pro-Life California Pregnancy Centers Must Provide Abortion Information or Face Fines - CNSNews.com
Pro-life pregnancy centers in California must choose between providing abortion information or paying fines. They face that dilemma after California judges denied multiple requests for preliminary injunctions against a law that went into effect January 1, mandating that all licensed pregnancy centers "disseminate to clients" a message promoting public programs with "free or low-cost access" to abortion and contraceptive services.
Pregnancy centers that fail to disseminate this message "are liable for a civil penalty of five hundred dollars ($500) for a first offense and one thousand dollars ($1,000) for each subsequent offense."
The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) and the Pacific Justice Institute both filed lawsuits on behalf of six pregnancy centers following Governor Jerry Brown's signing of the law in October. Arguing that the law violates their First Amendment rights to freedom of speech and free exercise of religion, the clinics sought preliminary and permanent injunctions against the law. The requests for preliminary injunctions were denied in the past couple of weeks.(Read more)
- Father, we pray victory for those fighting against this law that pro-life centers have to provide abortion information or pay fines. This quote from the article states it best, "This ruling should alarm everyone who believes in a robust First Amendment," said institute president Brad Dacus. "The notion that the government can compel religious non-profits to promote practices antithetical to their values is chilling."
- With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints, (Ephesians 6:18)
3. Rev. Cruz: 'It's Pro-Life or Pro-Murder' -- Be 'Biblically Correct Instead of Politically Correct' - CNSNews.com
Reverend Rafael Cruz said Americans must reject politically correct language, such as the liberals' word "gay" for "homosexual" or "pro-choice" for "pro-murder," because "there are absolutes" in morality and civil society, and he added that Christians must be "biblically correct instead of politically correct."
"We have to stop being politically correct," said Rev. Cruz in a talk before evangelical Christians. "We have to stop acquiescing even to the wording that the liberals use. . . Well, I'll tell you what," Rev. Cruz continued. "There are absolutes. There are absolutes. Start being biblically correct instead of politically correct." (Read more)
- Yes, Lord, there are absolutes. We do pray for an awakening among Christians. We must be on the alert, and not be lulled to sleep with our surroundings and culture.
- Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. (1 Corinthians 16:13)
4. Saudi Arabia-Iran row spreads to other nations: 'This really could get very ugly' - CNN
The fallout of Saudi Arabia's execution of a Shiite cleric is spreading beyond a spat between the Saudis and Iranians, as other Middle East nations choose sides and world powers Russia and China weigh in. Relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran -- two Middle Eastern powerhouses -- have deteriorated following Riyadh's execution of Shiite cleric Nimr al-Nimr Saturday.
Hours after the death sentence was carried out, protesters in Shiite-majority Iran attacked the Saudi Embassy in Tehran. The Saudis cut diplomatic relations with Iran over the attack on its embassy. (Read more, and see map, here.)
- Father, we pray for this volatile situation between Saudi Arabia and Iran. We pray Your will be done with the tensions between these countries, and those surrounding areas that are taking sides. We pray for a calm and stabilized reaction between these countries, however we recognize we are in the last days and know the stage is set for prophecy to unfold.
- Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. (Matthew 24:7)
5. ISIS Receives a Blow in Sinai as Egypt Attacks Terror Stronghold with Airstrikes - Breaking Israel News
The Egyptian air force launched a series of airstrikes on Saturday that killed up to 60 ISIS militants who had been operating from bases in northern Sinai, local media reported. Apache helicopters belonging to the Egyptian air force targeted structures belonging to an ISIS-affiliated terror group which has been attacking Egyptian soldiers and civilians for the past two years. (Read more)
- We praise You, O Lord, for this victory of the Egyptian air force in taking out this large number of ISIS fighters. We pray this will be discouragement to the recruiting of more fighters who support this evil movement. We also pray that more and more militant strongholds will be discovered and destroyed so that Your kind of peace may reign in this area.
- "And Mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the Lord descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and whole mount quaked greatly." (Exodus 19:18)
6. Trump: Clinton, Obama 'created ISIS' - CNN
Donald Trump on Saturday said the policies of President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton "created ISIS," the furthest the GOP front-runner has gone in tying the Obama administration's policies to the rise of the terror group. Trump offered no evidence for his claim here at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum, in which he also said escalating tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia were signs that the Islamic Republic wanted to take over the longtime U.S. ally in the Middle East. "They've created ISIS. Hillary Clinton created ISIS with Obama," Trump said. (Read more)
- Lord, these allegations on the part of Donald Trump would seem outlandish, except that others have been saying the same thing over these past years. We do ask that You keep this candidate safe under Your Shed Blood, like all other candidates in this year's election. Help us to know the truth, Lord Jesus, in Your name, amen and amen.
- "Evildoers do not understand what is right, but those who seek the LORD understand it fully." (Proverbs 28:5)
7. Will Japan and Russia finally sign WW2 peace treaty? - Israel National News
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe courted Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday, holding out the prospect for a summit as he renewed his call for progress on an elusive World War II peace treaty. The two countries have never officially struck a peace accord more than after 70 years after the end of the conflict amid a territorial dispute over four Japanese islands seized by Soviet troops at the war's conclusion. (Read more)
- Dear Lord, we take it as a gesture of peace that Prime Minister Abe has extended a call for concluding this still unresolved issue of the possession of these islands. We speak a Godly solution to this dispute with results that will please You, Oh Lord. We honor You as the one who sets the boundaries of countries. We pray in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, amen and amen.
- "Do not remove the ancient landmarks, nor enter the fields of the fatherless." (Proverbs 23:10)

Gun Control in the News:
Obama to Make Announcement Today
For each headline listed below, please agree with the following Word from our Lord, that His will be done in any matter related to gun control in our nation.
"And He said to them, 'But now, whoever has a money belt is to take it along, likewise also a bag, and whoever has no sword is to sell his coat and buy one.'" (Luke 22:36)
1. Obama details executive action on gun restrictions - Washington Post
The Obama administration on Monday unveiled a series of new executive actions aimed at reducing gun violence and making some political headway on one of the most frustrating policy areas of President Obama's tenure.
The package, which Obama plans to announce Tuesday, includes 10 separate provisions, White House officials said. One key provision would require more gun sellers - especially those who do business on the Internet and at gun shows - to be licensed and would force them to conduct background checks on potential buyers. Obama would devote $500 million more in federal funds to treating mental illness - a move that could require congressional approval - and require that firearms lost in transit between a manufacturer and a seller be reported to federal authorities.
At the president's direction, the FBI will begin hiring more than 230 additional examiners and other personnel to help process new background checks 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Also, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has established a new investigation center to keep track of illegal gun trafficking online and will devote $4 million and additional personnel to enhance the National Integrated Ballistics Information Network. 2. Obama Executive Actions on Guns Coming Tuesday - WND
The White House announced it will unveil President Obama's promised executive orders Tuesday morning on "common sense" gun control, but Second Amendment advocates and Republicans in Congress say "not so fast."
They're gearing up for a battle that will extend to the legislative branch and the courts.
Obama is expected to announce his unilateral plans to work around Congress to rein in gun sales and "make our communities safer," according to a White House statement that appears to borrow the exact talking points of Michael Bloomberg's Every Town For Gun Safety. He plans to deliver remarks at 11:40 a.m. EST Tuesday from the East Room. The president also plans to pitch his ideas at a nationally televised town hall Thursday with Anderson Cooper on CNN.
On Monday evening, the White House released a memo titled, "Promoting Smart Gun Technology." The memo ordered the Department of Defense, the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security to "conduct or sponsor research into gun safety technology that would reduce the frequency of accidental discharge or unauthorized use of firearms, and improve the tracing of lost or stolen guns." The White House also instructed the departments to "explore potential ways to further [the technology's] use and development to more broadly improve gun safety."
In the memo, Obama said he directed the Department of Justice in 2013 to review gun safety technologies "such as devices requiring a scan of the owner's fingerprint before a gun can fire."
As WND reported, Frank Miniter, author of "The Future of the Gun," has warned that mandatory smart-gun technology could make every existing gun in the U.S. illegal. (Read more)
3. Josh Earnest: 'Wouldn't Be Surprised' If Opponents Try to Tie Up Gun Control Legislation in Court for 12 Months - CNSNews.com
White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said Monday that he would not be surprised if those who are opposed to President Barack Obama using his executive authority to enact gun control legislation without congressional approval try to tie it up in court for the remaining 12 months of Obama's presidency.
"But again the kind of arguments that we'll be able to mobilize in a court of law are ones that I am confident will be powerful and persuasive. Ultimately, a judge will have to decide, but we should not be distracted however from the fact that the reason the president is taking these actions is because Congress has utterly failed in their responsibility to do so," said Earnest.
Earnest said the gun lobby is "likely to try to pursue a creative legal theory to prevent the implementation of these rules," which is why Obama is meeting with U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch, to make sure the recommendation he receives and the executive actions he carries out will stand up in court." 4. Gallup: Only 2% Say 'Guns/Gun Control' Among Nation's Most Important Problems - CNSNews.com
As President Obama prepares to announce new executive actions on gun control Monday, a newly released Gallup Poll shows that "guns/gun control" ranked near the bottom of Americans' most pressing concerns in 2015. In fact, guns/gun control ranked 19th out of 23 top problems facing the country last year.
According to Gallup, only one percent of respondents mentioned guns/gun control as a concern for most of the months in 2015, although mentions spiked to 7 percent in October and December following mass shootings in those months that dominated the news. (Read more)

White House: Doctors, Social Security to enforce gun control
The president is about to crack down on guns through an executive order that uses the Social Security Administration and socialist healthcare as spy agencies on gun owners. In a call with reporters Monday, the White House said the executive order will require those who privately sell "one or two" guns in a year to obtain a Federal Firearms License. The Washington Free Beacon reports White House Advisor Valerie Jarrett said, "Numbers are relevant. The ATF and DOJ did not identify a magic number of weapons that makes you engaged in the business because that would limit their ability to bring prosecution." In other words, sell a gun and you are an ATF target for prosecution.
Moreover, Jarrett announced the president would "require the Social Security Administration to begin the rule-making process for prohibiting certain Social Security recipients from legally obtaining guns, a move that could bar millions from legally owning firearms." Jarrett said that the executive order will also increase the number of ATF agents and make the background check system operate "around the clock." This insidious executive order establishes an institutionalized spy system on law abiding citizens who may own guns. It is a back door for a Social Security Administration to impose the political agenda of politicians on citizens by using the unequivocal authority of government. This is tyranny.
But wait. There's more. The socialist healthcare system is officially becoming a spy agency on US citizens, leveraging government authority to impose its political will on such matters as gun control. To be published in the Federal Register on Wednesday, the White House has issued a new rule, 45 CFR Part 164: "The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS or "the Department") is issuing this final rule to modify the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) Privacy Rule to expressly permit certain HIPAA covered entities to disclose to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) the identities of individuals who are subject to a Federal "mental health prohibitor" that disqualifies them from shipping, transporting, possessing, or receiving a firearm."
So now your doctor, who is supposed to have a trusted relationship with you, will be required to ask whether you own a gun. If you say "yes," he can turn you in to the FBI as mentally ill. This Administration has used the IRS to advance its political agenda against conservative non-profits. Now it is using Social Security and medical doctors to do the same. Ask yourself: Gun control today, Christianity tomorrow? This is the slippery slope to absolute tyranny. Proverbs 29:2 says, "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked bears rule, the people mourn." In America, we have a choice of our leaders. We have not exercised that choice wisely. It is past time to do so. We must awaken.
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Activists in Pakistan Hold Candlelight Vigil Remembering Slain Governor
Amid tight security, Christian and Muslim activists attended a candlelight vigil in Lahore Jan. 4 to remember former Punjab Gov. Salman Taseer who was assassinated in 2011 for criticizing Pakistan's blasphemy law.
"Taseer was a different person [and] we have gathered for his cause and ideas," said Father Abid Habib, of the Justice and Peace Commission of the Association of Major Religious Superiors.
"The extremist mindset still prevails in a society which it has fatally infected," Father Habib said at the vigil.
Taseer was shot dead by his police bodyguard because he criticized the country's blasphemy laws and defended Asia Bibi, a Christian woman, convicted of blasphemy and sentenced to death.
Last year, Pope Francis met Bibi's family and assured them that he prays for her and for all Christians who are suffering.
Father Habib praised Taseer's children who attended the vigil despite threats from two religious groups including the hardline Pakistan Sunni Tehreek. One of the former governor's sons, Shahbaz Taseer, remains missing after being kidnapped by Islamic militants in 2011.

Songs Our Grandmothers Sang:
My Saviour First Of All
- "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God." (Matthew 5:8)
Lyrics
When my lifework is ended and I cross the swelling tide, When the bright and glorious morning I shall see; I shall know my Redeemer when I reach the other side, And His smile will be the first to welcome me.
Refrain:
I shall know Him, (I shall know Him,) I shall know Him,
And redeemed by His side I shall stand;
I shall know Him, (I shall know Him,) I shall know Him
By the print of the nails in His hand.
Oh, the soul-thrilling rapture when I view His blessed face, And the luster of His kindly beaming eye; How my full heart will praise Him for the mercy, love and grace, That prepared for me a mansion in the sky.
(Refrain)
Oh, the dear ones in glory how they beckon me to come, And our parting at the river I recall; To the sweet vales of Eden they will sing my welcome home, But I long to meet my Savior first of all.
(Refrain)
Thro' the gates to the city in a robe of spotless white, He will lead me where no tears will ever fall; In the glad song of ages I shall mingle with delight, But I long to meet my Savior first of all.
(Refrain)

Guatemala's Volcano of Fire erupts, sending ash 7km into the sky
Guatemala's Fuego Volcano has erupted in dramatic fashion, sending columns of ash 7km (4m) into the sky.
No evacuations were ordered due to Sunday night's volcanic activity. But officials asked nearby communities to remain vigilant and Guatemala's Volcanological Institute has advised aviation authorities to ensure flights do not come into contact with the ash cloud.
Display of volcanic lightning inside giant smoke and ash cloud over Europe's tallest active volcano is Voragine crater's first eruption in two years
The institute said the mountain, whose name translates to Volcano of Fire, produced "constant sounds similar to a train locomotive and strong explosions" that rattled roofs and windows 30km away.
National disaster response spokesman David de Leon said on Monday that particulate matter was falling in at least eight nearby towns. (The Guardian UK) Read more.

Franklin Graham to start 50-State tour of US:
'Pray for America'
Pray and vote, says Franklin Graham as he begins 50-State tour
'Decision America': Franklin Graham launches 50-State tour
Franklin Graham begins a 50-State tour of the US tomorrow on the steps of the state Capitol in Des Moines, Iowa.
The Samaritan's Purse founder's Decision America Tour is billed as a series of noon prayer rallies in each state throughout 2016. He says he wants to encourage those who attend to pray for America.
In an earlier Facebook post he said: "I want to challenge Christians to pray, to get out and vote for candidates who support biblical values, and to get involved by running for office at all levels - school board, city council, mayor, state representative, and more. This could be the most important election in our nation's history. America has got some decisions to make - decisions that will affect our children and our grandchildren!"
Graham announced that he was leaving the Republican Party, with which he has been closely identified, just before Christmas. He said then: "I'm not going to support any party. This 50-state tour is not for the Republican Party." He added: "I'm as disappointed in them as I am the Democrats."
He continued: "We'll be praying for our leaders and praying that God would give us politicians who will stand for Biblical values. I want to challenge Christians to get involved in the Democratic Party, the Republican Party, and all others to make a difference; to get engaged at every level and to vote.
"The Bible calls us to be salt and light in this world - it's time we got off the sidelines and got involved in actively working and praying to stop the moral decline of this great nation." (Christian Today) Read more.
- Father God, we pray Your richest blessing upon this tour, in Jesus' name, amen.
- "And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." (2 Corinthians 9:8)
