The Daily Brief:
"Praying for All in Authority"
Wednesday, June 10, 2015

" . . . but all the people shall keep the watch of the Lord."
(2 Chronicles 23:6d)

" . . . in wrath remember mercy." (Habakkuk 3:2)

A Rainbow Over the Supreme Court
This photo of the front of the Supreme Court was taken the night before the hearings on gay marriage:

Monday, April 27, at sunset. Please remain with us in prayer over the pending decision on traditional marriage until the verdict has been rendered.

" . . . from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. . . What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder." (Mark 10: 6,9)

Thank You, Lord, for watching over this Court. In Jesus' name, amen.

The Middle East in Focus

"Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the LORD, who has compassion on you." (Isaiah 54:10)

1. US Diplomats Reveal EU Sanctions Assault After Iran Deal - Israel National News

Israel has been fighting the Iran nuclear deal due to the great danger it poses, but senior Western officials have revealed it is also doing so because once a deal is reached, the European Union (EU) and UN are planning a diplomatic offensive targeting the Jewish state.

The political assault is meant to force Israel into returning to yet more peace talks with the Palestinian Authority (PA) and making dangerous concessions in the process - and reportedly the EU already has a list of sanctions ready to force Israel to bend.

A senior Western diplomat told Ma'ariv in a report published Tuesday that "a diplomatic attack against Israel is expected soon that will surprise even the pessimists in Jerusalem."

"In the (UN) Security Council, in western capitals and at EU headquarters, they are just waiting for the Iran deal to be signed and for it to be approved by the American Congress," warned the diplomatic source.

It appears that the waiting period will likely expire in September, at which time a UN General Assembly will open in tandem with the first shots of the diplomatic barrage against Israel. (Read more)

2. Defense minister: Palestinian state unlikely 'in my lifetime' - Times of Israel

Israel's defense minister on Tuesday mirrored contentious remarks made by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the run-up to national elections in March, cautioning against the notion of a Palestinian state in the West Bank and stating that he did not foresee such a development in his lifetime.

Moshe Ya'alon, 64, warned that even without territorial concessions, if Israel were to keep its security forces from acting in the West Bank, the survival of the neighboring monarchy in Jordan would be called into question.

Referencing US President Barack Obama's recent interview on Israel's Channel 2, in which Obama said he did not foresee an end-of-claims agreement between Israel and the Palestinians during his final year in office, Ya'alon declared, "Some say not in the next year, some say not during their term, but I, to my dismay, with my vast experience . . . I do not see a stable settlement during the period of my life, and I plan to live a bit more." (Read more)

3. Heads of CIA and US military visit Israel ahead of Iran deadline - YNET News

CIA Director John Brennan paid a visit to Israel last week, meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and top security officials to discuss the emerging agreement with Iran over its nuclear program and ways to ensure that it adheres to its terms.

His unpublicized visit, reported Tuesday by the daily Haaretz, came several days before that of the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Martin Dempsey, who arrived Monday as the guest of Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot. Dempsey will also meet with Netanyahu and Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon.

Although planned some time ago, both visits come just weeks before the June 30 deadline for talks with Iran on curbing its nuclear program. (Read more)

4. PA: Ruling on Jerusalem Proves Israel is an 'Occupier' - Israel National News

The Palestinian Authority (PA) on Monday welcomed the decision of the United States Supreme Court to reject an appeal to have Menachem Binyamin Zivotofsky's passport list "Jerusalem, Israel" as his place of birth, in a key case regarding the city's status as Israel's capital.

Nabil Abu Rudeineh, a spokesman for PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, said that the Supreme Court's decision is consistent with the decisions of international institutions, the UN Security Council and the General Assembly.

He further stated that "the decision sends an obvious message that Israel is an occupying power of East al-Quds (eastern Jerusalem -ed.), the West Bank (Judea and Samaria -ed.) and the Gaza Strip." In its decision, the Supreme Court on Monday sided with President Barack Obama and criticized Congress for "overstepping its bounds" when it tried to press Obama to have Zivotofsky's passport list "Jerusalem, Israel" as his place of birth.

By a 6-3 majority, the Supreme Court struck down a law from 2002 which requires the State Department to recognize Jerusalem as part of Israel, reports National Journal. (Read more)

- Lord God, today we are still grieving over this decision by our Supreme Court. Forgive us, Lord. If we refuse to recognize Your capital, how can You recognize ours? Abba, we ask for Your mercy now in the midst of the coming judgment. We ask this in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, amen and amen.

- " . . . in wrath remember mercy." (Habakkuk 3:2)

5. Greece officially starts using term 'Palestine' - Times of Israel

Although they haven't affirmed full, official recognition of a Palestinian state, Greek officials recently started referring to "Palestine." The country's prime minister actually used the term "State of Palestine" in a tweet Monday that was later deleted.

"At the Greek Foreign Ministry, we decided to issue instructions throughout the Greek public administration for the uniform use of the term 'Palestine' when we refer to our friendly country," Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias said Monday during a meeting with his Palestinian counterpart Riyad al-Maliki.

"Palestine is a country that is in our hearts, in our minds," Kotzias said at the Foreign Ministry in Athens. "It has followed us since the years of our adolescence and youth as a dream of freedom, democracy and rights." (Read more)

6. Israel's chief negotiator calls for summit, but Deputy FM says no hope of peace - Times of Israel

Interior Minister Silvan Shalom (Likud), who was appointed to lead Israel's negotiating team in any future peace talks with the Palestinians, on Monday called for a regional conference to discuss peace and economics. His Likud colleague Tzipi Hotovely, the deputy foreign minister, however, said a two-state solution was nowhere in sight, and blamed the Palestinians.

Speaking at the 15th annual Herzliya Conference, Shalom said that if the Palestinians return to the negotiating table they will find that Israel is a "real partner."

"I call on all moderate states to come to a conference, that will focus on peace and economics," Shalom said.

"If the Palestinians will be serious and be prepared to sit down to real negotiations, I pledge to them that they will find in Israel a real partner," he declared. "I call on the Palestinians to renew negotiations without preconditions and the sooner the better." (Read more)

7. ISIS Stages Attacks in Iraq and Libya, Despite U.S. Airstrikes - New York Times

Islamic State militants staged attacks near Baghdad and the Libyan city of Surt on Tuesday, underscoring the group's persistent strength on both fronts despite a monthslong American-led air campaign against it in Syria and Iraq.

In Libya, the Islamic State captured a critical power plant along the coastal road westward from its stronghold in Surt toward Misurata, a commercial center whose powerful militias are the backbone of a coalition that controls the capital, Tripoli. The loss was the second significant retreat in less than two weeks by the Misuratan militia, which the provisional government in Tripoli had originally sent to expel the Islamic State from Surt.

In Iraq, two gunmen wearing suicide vests attacked a local council building in Amiriyat al Falluja, a bold incursion into the center of a city about 37 miles southwest of Baghdad. The city is one of the last bastions of government control in Anbar Province after Islamic State militants captured the major city of Ramadi three weeks ago, and Iraqi troops have been battling against the militants on the outskirts of Amiriyat al Falluja for months. The Daily Brief

1. (Yesterday): White House, Senate rooms briefly evacuated over bomb threats - Fox News

In a bizarre string of security scares, rooms at the White House and on Capitol Hill were briefly evacuated Tuesday afternoon after a pair of bomb threats.

A threat made shortly before 2 p.m. ET specifically concerned the White House Briefing Room, officials said, leading the Secret Service to clear reporters out of the room in the middle of the daily briefing.

Security officers subsequently let reporters back in, after giving the all-clear at the scene. (Read more)

- Father God, even as our Supreme Court has refused to acknowledge that Jerusalem is the capital of Your nation, Israel, we realize we cannot now ask for Your hand of blessing and protection to rightfully rest upon our own nation's capital, Washington, D.C. So, one day after the Supreme Court rendered this opinion . . . here came the bomb threats against two branches of our government. Lord God, we turn to You, Abba, and to Your own heart of mercy. Lord God, please forgive us of our foolish and wicked ways, forgive our sin, and heal our land. We ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.

- " . . . if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land." (2 Chronicles 7:14)

2. Secret Service officers at White House lacked security clearances, officials say - Washington Post

A rush to recruit additional Secret Service officers in the wake of numerous White House security lapses has led to a new problem: Several dozen of the fresh arrivals have been posted in sensitive positions without completing the required national security clearance process, according to two government officials familiar with the situation.

Secret Service Director Joseph P. Clancy acknowledged the problem last week during a private conversation with Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.). The lawmaker had raised the issue after hearing from a whistleblower who alleged that newly hired officers had been present for White House meetings in which classified material was shared, Meadows told The Washington Post.

Clancy promised to fix the situation as soon as possible, a Secret Service official said Tuesday. The official said the agency is struggling to work through an "administrative backlog" in issuing security clearances with the higher-than-normal volume of new hires. (Read more)

- Lord God, we thank You that this situation has now come to light, and we ask that You would grace those in authority within the structure of the Secret Service to be able to move quickly to ensure that no one will view any classified material until they have, indeed, been vetted with the proper security clearance. We ask that You send forth Your angels to help those "on the ground" to clear up the backlog of administrative work now in front of them. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

- "If you ask anything in My name, I will do it." (John 14:14)

3. TSA whistleblowers describe security concerns, culture of 'fear and distrust' - Fox News

Whistleblowers on Tuesday portrayed the beleaguered Transportation Security Administration as an agency mired in a culture of "fear and distrust" while raising security concerns over several programs -- including TSA PreCheck, in which passes for expedited screening allegedly are passed out "like Halloween candy."

The TSA employees leveled their criticism during a Senate hearing that follows recent bombshell inspector general reports. One showed undercover agents were able to sneak fake explosives and banned weapons through airport checkpoints about 96 percent of the time; the findings led to the acting TSA secretary being reassigned last week. A second report released Monday showed the agency failed to flag 73 commercial airport workers "linked to terrorism." The hearing was cut short by a bomb threat. . . . (Read more)

- Abba Father, We repent for the sloppy job the DHS is doing at our airports. We thank You that You are our protector and that we have nothing to fear. Abba, we ask that You would oversee our security and the DHS. Abba, the DHS needs to clean house and rid itself of management aligned  with the airlines, and hire management aligned  with security in mind. We leave this in Your perfect hands. In His Name we pray, Amen

- "If I whet My glittering sword,
And My hand takes hold on judgment,
I will render vengeance to My enemies,
And repay those who hate Me.

I will make My arrows drunk with blood,
And My sword shall devour flesh,
With the blood of the slain and the captives,
From the heads of the leaders of the enemy."'

"Rejoice, O Gentiles, with His people;
For He will avenge the blood of His servants,
And render vengeance to His adversaries;
He will provide atonement for His land and His people." (Deuteronomy 32:41-43)

4. Army Gen. Randy Taylor introduces his husband at Pentagon Gay Pride event - The Washington Times

A married Army general on Tuesday introduced his spouse at a Pentagon event that featured lots of top brass, including Defense Secretary Ashton Carter as the keynote speaker. What made this seemingly routine introduction noteworthy is that Brig. Gen. Randy S. Taylor introduced his husband, Lucas. . .

Gen. Taylor was the master of ceremonies for the Pentagon's 4th Gay Pride celebration that showcases a month of gay-themed posters and history. A panel discussion featured a gay Marine officer, a gay Army sergeant who is a criminal investigator, a lesbian chaplain and a transgender, Amanda Simpson, who is executive director of the Army's Office of Energy Initiatives. - Oh, Abba! We cry out to You, dear Lord, and we groan with the weight of our sin. Abba Father, those who are blind to iniquity and perversion have now invaded the ranks of our military, and are implementing policies that are an abomination in Your sight. Abba, how weak we have become!

Lord God, we now reside as mere citizens in an occupied country, and we know not what to do. Help us, Lord, we pray, in the name if Jesus Christ, amen and amen.

- "So then because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of my mouth." (Revelation 3:16)

5. Gohmert: 'If There's a God, As the Bible Talks About, There'll be Price to This Nation For Acting in Such a Way' - CNSNews.com

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R.-Texas) said on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives yesterday that God may make the United States pay a price because, Gohmert said, the Obama administration has been telling people in Africa it will help them counter radical Islam but only if they abandon their Christian views on abortion and same-sex marriage.

"Only if you will violate your Christian beliefs will we be willing to come help you," Gohmert said, summarizing his understanding of the administration's view. "If there is a God as the Bible talks about, there will be a price to this Nation for acting in such a way." (Read more)

- Abba Father, we thank You for Rep. Louie Gohmert of Texas speaking out concerning Your judgment towards our nation for the US executive administration's demand that African nations must abandon their Christian views on abortion and same-sex marriage if they want assistance to fight Islam. Have mercy, oh yes please, have mercy on us, Father, for these wicked demands, we pray, in Jesus' Name, Amen and Amen.

- "A perverse man sows strife, and a whisperer separates the best of friends." (Proverbs 16:28)

6. Protesters rally in Texas town after video of officer drawing gun on teens surfaces - Fox News

Hundreds of demonstrators rallied outside an elementary school in a Dallas suburb Monday in response to a video that showed a white police officer pushing and pinning a black teenage girl to the ground before drawing his gun on two others who tried to intervene.

KDFW reported that many of the protesters came from outside the town of McKinney, about 35 miles northeast of Dallas. They held signs that included the phrases, "My skin color is not a crime," and, "Don't tread on our kids." More than 150 people were part of a counter-protest on a nearby corner, waving flags and holding signs that said "Back the Blue."

Benét Embry, a black local radio personality who witnessed the incident, said it was "not another Ferguson" or "another Baltimore," referring to other police encounters that have left suspects dead and fueled a nationwide "Black Lives Matter" movement. "This was a teenage party that got out of hand," Embry said. (Read more)

- Abba Father, Cpl . Eric Casebolt has resigned from the McKinney police force. We pray that this resignation will cool the tempers of those in McKinney who are angered over this policeman's treatment of a teenager, his profanity, and drawing his gun on teenagers in bathing suits. We pray that Your peace and tranquility cover McKinney like a soft blanket.

We, also pray for those fine policemen throughout the United States who are patrolling our streets and keeping us safe. Bless them with prudence and wisdom. Guide them that they respond with cool heads as the summer heats up. Lord, we bind the spirit of anarchy over America and we release your peace, justice and righteousness. In His Name we pray, Amen.

- "I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, And I find knowledge and discretion." (Prov. 8:12)

7. Treasury Secretary Jeered for Saying 'No Administration Has Done More for Israel's Security' - CNSNews.com

U.S. Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew was booed Sunday at the Jerusalem Post's annual conference in New York City when he said President Barack Obama and his administration has done more than any of his predecessors to advance the security of Israel. "The simple fact is this: No administration has done more for Israel's security than this one," Lew said. "Under President Obama, and with the support of Congress, America has provided $20 billion in military support to Israel."

The crowed repeatedly heckled Lew as he tried to lay out the case that brokering an agreement with Iran is the only way to prevent the Islamic theocracy from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

"We recognize that the threats to the state of Israel's existence today are real. They are complex, and they must be taken seriously," Lew, the first orthodox Jew to hold the highest post at Treasury, said on Sunday. "That is why the Obama administration has done so much over the past six years to advance Israel's security." (Read more)

- -Abba Father, U.S. Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew was booed and rightly so. Out of one side of his mouth, President Obama threatens Israel while out of the other side of his mouth he sends weapons of defense. He is constantly threatening to allow UN to vote on a Palestinian State, and does not recognize Jerusalem  as the capitol of Israel . May Israelis continue to boo this administration. In His Name we pray, Amen.

- "David went out to meet them, and said to them, "If you come peacefully to me to help me, my heart shall be united with you; but if to betray me to my adversaries, since there is no wrong in my hands, may the God of our fathers look on it and decide." (I Chronicles 12:17)

8. Lawmakers Take Aim at Iran's Missiles, Omitted From Nuclear Talks - CNSNews.com

Three weeks before the deadline for a comprehensive nuclear deal with Iran, lawmakers will hold a hearing Wednesday on an issue that was left off the agenda at the nuclear talks - ballistic missiles. The House Foreign Affairs subcommittee on the Middle East and North Africa has invited intelligence and security experts to testify on "Iran's enduring ballistic missile threat."

When Iran and the P5+1 group - the U.S., Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany - on April 2 announced a "framework" understanding on which a final agreement due by June 30 will be based, there was no mention of Iran's missiles.

"There are many glaring omissions from the Obama administration and P5+1's nuclear negotiations with Iran that cause many to worry and rightly call the possible deal weak and dangerous," subcommittee chairman Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.) said in a statement. Perhaps the biggest failure of the negotiations was to limit it to just the nuclear profile and not include Iran's other illicit activity, most notably its ballistic missile program." (Read more)

- Abba Father, we thank You that Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) along with the IAEA are bringing attention to this glaring omission from the Iran nuclear agreement.  The IAEA is concerned about the possible  existence of undisclosed nuclear related activities involving military related  organizations, and nuclear devices on ballistic missile warheads. Abba, You are in control of all things. We ask that You shine Your light and expose the hidden works of darkness coming from Iran. We trust in You to watch over this deal, and if You don't want it to pass may it come to naught! In His Name we pray, Amen.

- "They speak vain words, swearing falsely in making covenants: therefore judgment springs  up as hemlock in the furrows of the field." (Hosea 10:4)

9. Christians Among 86 Eritrean Refugees Kidnapped by ISIS; Less Than Two Months After Mass Execution of Ethiopian Christians - Christian Post

A group of Christians are among the 86 Eritrean refugees, including women and children, who've been kidnapped by terror group ISIS in Libya. The kidnapping comes less than two months after 28 Ethiopian Christian were executed by the terror group.

The Stockholm-based International Commission on Eritrean Refugees reported on Sunday that the captives were taken last week, following an ambush by the jihadists on a vehicle traveling to Tripoli.(Read more)

- Ah Lord God, Your people are dying in the Middle East at the hands of ISIS. We pray for these 86 Eritrean refugees. We ask that Your hand would be with them to strengthen them during this time of tribulation. We pray that they do not deny their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ during this trial by fire and death. In His Name we pray, Amen.

- "Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison, so that you will be tested, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life." (Revelations 2:10)

10. U.S. announces new deployment to fight Islamic State - Politico

President Barack Obama is sending hundreds more troops to beef up the fight against the Islamic State and to help Iraqi forces reclaim the city of Ramadi from the terrorist group, the White House announced Wednesday. The decision was immediately panned by several Republicans as barely a half-measure and some Democrats who warned of potential U.S. casualties.

The up to 450 additional troops headed to the country will join the 3,100 currently advising and assisting Iraqis in the battle against the Islamic State, which is also known as ISIS or ISIL, but they will not serve in combat roles, the administration announced. (Read more)

- Father God, we ask that You send forth Your own warring angels to assist our own troops on the ground in this battle against this evil enemy. Keep each one safe, under the shelter of Your wings, and bring them the desired victory. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

- "He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways." (Ps. 91:11)

The prophetic battle over free speech

Free speech is the cornerstone of liberty. The Great Commission is accelerated because of freedom of speech. Christ said "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15)." This command is premised on the very basic foundation of communication--speaking freely one to another. In Ephesians 6, the Apostle Paul prayed that he "may open his mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel." The book of Acts has many examples of the struggle between religious leaders and the Apostles over free speech. In today's America, there is a prophetic battle over the exercise of free speech where the forces of darkness are trying to silence the gospel in society. Your response is key.

Islam wishes to silence you. Islam is based on submission. Islam's laws have no room for Christianity or Judaism. Submission to the false prophet Mohammad and his writings is eroding your free speech and your eventual ability to speak boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel. In America, this is an example of soft tyranny. Misguided leaders point to Islam as a religion of peace. Ignoring the facts of history and current events, they say that those advocating jihad are only extremists. They want Christians and Jews to toe up to a line of silence about the teachings of Islam. There are people who are losing their heads across the Middle East for speaking Christ or for being Jews. They can speak no more.

Another group that seeks to silence Christianity are the homosexuals. They disguise their evangelical strategy of recruiting youth into their lifestyle using words like bullying, equality, and hate speech. They anchor in our public schools as opponents of bullies, when in reality, they bully everyone who opposes their agenda. They target Christian businesses who refuse to participate in their agenda and bring them up on charges of hate speech or violating equal rights. Their attack is directly aimed at the word of God. If your worldview is one that the Bible is the infallible and inerrant Word of God, then you must adhere to the scriptures that God is constant and that homosexuality is abomination.

In both cases--homosexuality and Islam--Bible-believing Christians are expected to ignore the commands of God and not only tolerate, but embrace anti-christ beliefs. Islam and homosexuality have no respect for your beliefs. They wish to silence you in the name of free speech. The Founding Fathers understood the basic right of free speech. They wisely guaranteed this right. We as a free people, however, must stand to keep this right. To willingly be silent is submission. This submission becomes law without legislation and precept upon precept is accepted until your right has been voluntarily surrendered. Evil advances deceptively saying it is peaceful or righteous when in reality it is the opposite. We must respond as Paul by speaking boldly as we ought to speak and standing fast in the liberty by which Christ made us free.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Jerusalem Reality Check

Jerusalem Reality Check

The Supreme Court issued a disappointing decision yesterday [i.e., Monday]. Six justices ruled that Congress could not require the State Department to issue passports for Americans born in Jerusalem with "Israel" listed as their place of birth. That Jerusalem is in Israel might seem obvious enough, but the Obama Administration fought the law.

Sadly, six justices declared that the law was a violation of the president's authority to recognize nations. Writing for the court's majority, Justice Anthony Kennedy declared:

"Put simply, the nation must have a single policy regarding which governments are legitimate in the eyes of the United States and which are not. Recognition is a topic on which the nation must speak with one voice. That voice must be the president's."

Given this president's record of executive abuses, it would have been refreshing to see the court rein him in and protect the prerogatives of the other co-equal branches of government.

The notion that Congress shouldn't have a say in foreign policy is bizarre, as Justice Scalia noted in his dissent. "Who says so? The text and structure of the Constitution divide responsibility for foreign policy," Scalia wrote.

Chief Justice John Roberts was particularly alarmed by the majority's reasoning. Noting that the Obama Administration has repeatedly ignored the law, Roberts wrote: "The court takes the perilous step -- for the first time in our history -- of allowing the president to defy an act of Congress in the field of foreign affairs."

Kennedy fretted that recognition of Jerusalem was a "delicate" subject and might negatively impact negotiations. That's absurd. There is no reality in which Jerusalem will be given up. This continued charade only emboldens Israel's enemies and makes peace less likely, not more likely.

You don't have to take my word for it. A senior Hamas leader said this weekend, "Our policy is Palestine, all of Palestine." In other words, Hamas is not interested in peace with Israel or even a piece of Israel.

Millions of pro-Israel Americans do not want one inch of the holy city to be surrendered. The Israeli people are showing no inclination to divide Jerusalem, which would be a disaster.

The reality is that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and people born there should be able to list Israel on a passport. Denying reality is ludicrous. (Gary Bauer)

Still No Strategy

Still No Strategy

Last summer, President Obama made a stunning statement when he confessed that his administration had "no strategy" to combat ISIS, which he had previously labeled a "J.V." or junior varsity terrorist group. Nearly a year later, you'd think that the best and brightest this administration has to offer might come up with something. Alas, no.

Obama has been in Germany this week for the G-7 summit of leading industrial nations. At a press conference, Obama said, "We don't yet have a complete strategy," on how to train Iraqi troops to fight ISIS.

November 2016 cannot come fast enough! By the way, while Hillary is busy "declaring war" on voter ID laws, what is her strategy for defeating ISIS?

Don't worry about ISIS getting weapons of mass destruction, conducting a massive terror attack in the heart of Europe or the mass beheading of Christians. Obama and the G-7 gang were busy with more serious stuff. And that, of course, is climate change.

Our climatologist-in-chief and the world's most powerful nations are incapable of defeating ISIS, but with complete certainty they announced that in the year 2100, 85 years from now, no more fossil fuels would be used in the world.

The way things are going right now, it's an even bet that a number of G-7 countries may not exist in 2100!

Europe is years ahead of the United States in pursuing radical environmental policies. We should be learning from their mistakes, not embracing them.

If you think your electricity bill is high now, just wait until the left enacts its climate change agenda. Consider this analysis of European energy policies and their economic consequences:

"Denmark erected over 5,000 wind turbine towers. . . But in total, the turbines produce only 1.3 gigawatts of electricity on average. All could be replaced by a single large conventional power plant. Today, Denmark has the highest electricity prices of the developed nations. . . .

"[European] consumer electricity prices have doubled over the last ten years due to large subsidy payments to renewable companies. Nations with the largest percentage of renewable energy also have the highest electricity prices. Citizens of Spain pay . . . three times the U.S. price, and citizens of Germany and Denmark pay . . . four times the U.S. price." (Gary Bauer)

Prophetic changing of times and laws in America

We--you and me--are in a struggle for our very freedom. No amount of soft-selling, wishful thinking, justifying, or turning a blind eye can hide the fact. As Christian Americans, our freedom is on the line. Just as it was in the days of the American Revolution, even the Civil War, and World War II. In this day in America, the enemy is the antichrist spirit and it manifests itself by those who establish immorality as equality, death cults as religious, and in those who seek common ground thinking they are trying to bring peace and understanding. We are living in an age of great deception where good is spoken of as evil and our freedom is at stake. The question is will we stand and fight for what is just and right to keep it?

I have heard many severe and negative comments about Pamela Geller, president of the American Freedom Defense Initiative, for launching a campaign exposing Islam for its free-speech repression in America. "She didn't need to provoke them," some say. Others say, "It was like yelling 'fire' in a theater" when referring to her organization's "Draw Mohammad" cartoon contest. Yes, she could have chose many ways to expose this submission by America to Sharia law. But, no, it is not like yelling "fire" in a theater--there are laws against that. Free speech does not extend to such an act because it is intended to create panic at risk of injury to others. Geller and company are making a point about our freedom.

You don't have to agree with the way that she is making her point. You might, however, consider why this point is having to be made. Islam is creating havoc around the world. It is responsible for human trafficking--the selling of women and children as sex slaves; sale of illegal drugs; violation of women's rights; the brutal crucifixion, beheading, and murdering of Christian and Jewish men, women, and children throughout the world because they disagree with Islam and will not submit to it. We have seen even in America, Islamists perform honor killings on their own daughters for disobeying family rules. And even now, the US Supreme Court has favored Sharia Law by its ruling on hijabs in the workplace.

Geller dares to violate Sharia Law in a nation where Sharia Law is illegal and unconstitutional, and Islam threatens to behead her. Islam is colonizing the US and demanding Americans submit to its laws and customs. Galatians 5:1 says, "Stand fast therefore in the liberty with which Christ has made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." Islam is bondage. It is the antichrist system. What we are seeing may be a type and shadow of Daniel 7:25's beast: "And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws." These Islamists, assisted by our leaders, are wearing us out by rewriting history and changing the nature of our laws. You and me are in a struggle for our freedom. We need to take it spiritually and personally.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

(The Nature of) God's Wrath

God's Wrath

To understand God's wrath we must view it in the light of His holiness. God is holy and has made holiness to be the moral condition necessary to the health of His universe. Sin's temporary presence in the world only accents this. Whatever is holy is healthy; evil is a moral sickness that must end ultimately in death.

The formation of the language itself suggests this, the English word holy deriving from the Anglo-Saxon halig, hal meaning well, whole. While it is not wise to press word origins unduly, there is yet a significance here that should not be overlooked.

Since God's first concern for His universe is its moral health, that is, its holiness; whatever is contrary to this is necessarily under His eternal displeasure. Wherever the holiness of God confronts unholiness there is conflict. This conflict arises from the irreconcilable natures of holiness and sin. God's attitude and action in the conflict are His anger. To preserve His creation God must destroy whatever would destroy it.
When He arises to put down destruction and save the world from irreparable moral collapse He is said to be angry. Every wrathful judgment of God in the history of the world has been a holy act of preservation.

The holiness of God, the wrath of God and the health of the creation are inseparably united. Not only is it right for God to display anger against sin, but I find it impossible to understand how He could do otherwise.

God's wrath is His utter intolerance of whatever degrades and destroys. He hates iniquity as a mother hates the diphtheria or polio that would destroy the life of her child.

God's wrath is the antisepsis by which moral putrefaction is checked and the health of the creation maintained. When God warns of His impending wrath and exhorts men to repent and avoid it He puts it in a language they can understand: He tells them to "flee from the wrath to come." He says in effect, "Your life is evil, and because it is evil you are an enemy to the moral health of My creation.

I must extirpate whatever would destroy the world I love. Turn from evil before I rise up in wrath against you. I love you, but I hate the sin you love. Separate yourself from your evil ways before I send judgment upon you."
"0 Lord, . . . in wrath remember mercy." Hab. 3:2

Our Grandmothers' Songs

Songs Our Grandmothers Sang:

O MOTHER DEAR, JERUSALEM

"I, John, saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of Heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband." (Revelation 21:2)

A beautiful hymn . . . written in the 16th century!

Lyrics:

O mother dear, Jerusalem,
When shall I come to thee?
When shall my sorrows have an end,
Thy joys when shall I see?
O happy harbor of the saints!
O sweet and pleasant soil!
In thee no sorrow may be found,
No grief, no care, no toil.

Signs and Wonders

Deepest known high-temperature hydrothermal vents in Pacific Ocean

In spring 2015, MBARI researchers discovered a large, previously unknown field of hydrothermal vents in the Gulf of California, about 150 kilometers (100 miles) east of La Paz, Mexico. Lying more than 3,800 meters (12,500 feet) below the surface, the Pescadero Basin vents are the deepest high-temperature hydrothermal vents ever observed in or around the Pacific Ocean. They are also the only vents in the Pacific known to emit superheated fluids rich in both carbonate minerals and hydrocarbons. The vents have been colonized by dense communities of tubeworms and other animals unlike any other known vent communities in the in the eastern Pacific.

Like another vent field in the Gulf that MBARI discovered in 2012, the Pescadero Basin vents were initially identified in high-resolution sonar data collected by an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV). MBARI's yellow, torpedo-shaped seafloor-mapping AUV spent two days flying about 50 meters above the bottom of the Basin, using sound beams to map the depth and shape of the seafloor.

The Good News Corner

Federal Court Abortion Ruling in Texas is Huge Victory for Pro-Life: Abortionists Enraged

The health and safety of both mothers and their babies was front of mind in a federal court ruling on a Texas abortion clinic law Tuesday.

The law requires clinics to operate under the same state standards as any other clinic offering out-patient procedures. It would ensure that the clinics basically operate under hospital-level standards.

The court ruled in the case of Whole Woman's Health v. Lakey, that the medical requirement advances Texas' interests in safeguarding maternal health and protecting women from substandard abortion facilities and practices.

Pro-life leaders see it as a victory for women and children.

"Texas has struck a decisive blow for women's health and safety against a predatory abortion industry," Americans United for Life President and CEO Dr. Charmaine Yoest said.

"A largely under-monitored, under-supervised, and secretive abortion industry tells women 'trust but don't verify that our clinics are clean and safe.' No longer should women be abandoned to self-serving and false assurances from an industry that puts profits over people," she added.
