1. Senator Harry Reid to Retire in 2016 - NRB (National Religious Broadcasters)
The top Democrat in the Senate, Senator Harry Reid, announced Friday morning that he will retire at the end of this session of Congress. In a release, the Senate Minority Leader stated:
"I am going to be here for another 22 months, and you know what I'm going to be doing? The same thing I've done since I first came to the Senate. We have to make sure that the Democrats take control of the Senate again. And I feel it is inappropriate for me to soak up all those resources on me when I could be devoting those resources to the caucus, and that's what I intend to do."
While Republicans are expected to be on defense in a number of 2016 Senate races, Senator Reid's incumbency was one of the few Democrat seats viewed as possible contests.
The son of a miner, Senator Reid began from humble roots and worked his way to elected office. In his press statement, he added, "Someone with my background, my upbringing, to have the experiences I've had is really a miracle . . . I have done my best. I haven't been perfect, but I've really tried my hardest to represent the people of the state of Nevada. From the bottom of my heart, thank you."
- Father, we thank You for this man, and his service to his country, and also thank You that his service is coming to an end. We ask that he be replaced with a more conservative voice in the Senate, and that would more adequately represent the views of his/her constituency. We thank You for sparing his life in that terrible accident in his home in January. We ask that he would accept You as his Savior and Lord, while he still can. Thank You! Amen!

2. Supreme Court Sets Date for Marriage Cases - NRB
Last Friday, the U.S. Supreme Court announced that on April 28 it will listen to oral arguments in four consolidated cases pivotal for the future of marriage in the United States.
Two years ago, in a 5-4 decision, the Court ruled that the federal definition of marriage as one man and one woman in the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act was unconstitutional. However, at that time, the Justices resisted a Roe v Wade type of decision imposing a new definition of marriage nationwide.
Now that question is upon it. At issue are not the merits of one view of marriage over another. Rather, the Court must decide if the U.S. Constitution requires states to recognize same-sex marriage. (Read more)

3. German police find 'significant' Andreas Lubitz clues - WND
German authorities said Friday they found "something significant" in a raid of the home of Germanwings co-pilot Andreas Lubitz that could help explain why the 28-year-old purposely crashed the plane into the French Alps.
"We have found something which will now be taken for tests," a spokesman for Dusseldorf police told the London Daily Mail. "We cannot say what it is at the moment but it may be [a] very significant clue to what has happened."
But Ralf Herrenbrueck, a spokesman for the prosecutor's office, specified in a written statement released Friday officials had recovered ripped sick- leave notes "that support the current preliminary assessment that the deceased hid his illness from his employer and colleagues," the Associated Press reported.
AP also said the torn-up doctor's notice excused Lubitz from work the very same day of the plane crash that left 150, including three Americans, dead. (Read more)

4. John Boehner blasts Obama as dithering - WND
He's an 'anti-war' president with 'no strategy' on terrorism
House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, has used his substantial media platform to blast President Obama as a dithering, ineffective leader who is essentially clueless when it comes to slowing the spread of terrorism.
"The world is starving for American leadership," Boehner said in a well-reported press conference on Capitol Hill. "We have no strategy, overarching strategy, to deal with the growing terrorist threat."
. . . Boehner also said Obama was basically sitting to the side, serving as the "anti-war president" amid a suffering world. (Read more)

5. 'Huge surge' of 'unscreened' Muslims flooding U.S. - WND
Feds 'admit, under oath, that they have no idea who these people are'. "It's a huge surge under Obama. In the last three years, he's averaged 100,000 new immigrants from Muslim nations a year. That is very alarming. It's more than we're importing both from Central America and Mexico combined. This is a big shift in immigration flows." (Read more)

We thank You that You have promised to expose the secret things, and so we pray that by Your Spirit You will expose all that needs to be known about them, so wise decisions can and will be made as to who enters the country, and who is returned. 7. John Bolton: Bomb Iran Before It Gets the Bomb - Newsmax
There is only one way to block the Iranians from building a nuclear bomb, according to former ambassador John Bolton: Bomb them first. "The inescapable conclusion is that Iran will not negotiate away its nuclear program," Bolton wrote in an opinion piece for The New York Times on Thursday. 9. With Yemen in turmoil, Egypt sends warships to secure Gulf of Aden

Egypt and Sudan on Thursday pledged support for the Saudi-led strikes on Iran's Yemen allies the Houthis, even as four Egyptian naval vessels crossed the Suez Canal en route to Yemen to secure the Gulf of Aden.
Maritime sources at the Suez Canal confirmed the vessels' route, saying they expected them to reach the Red Sea by Thursday evening.
Sudan's Defense Minister Abdel Raheem Mohammed Hussein told reporters on Thursday that his country would take part "with air and ground troops in the Decisive Storm operations" against the Houthi rebels, saying Sudanese forces had begun "mechanical movements" towards the area of operations. 10. Congressmembers: No More Money for Talks With Iran - Jewish Press
In a letter sent on Thursday, March 26, to the Chair and the Ranking member of the subcommittee on Foreign Operations of the House Appropriations Committee, several members of Congress, spearheaded by Peter Roskam (R-IL) and Lee Zeldin (R-NY), sought the insertion of language in the upcoming foreign operations appropriations bill that would prohibit the inclusion of funding for continuing talks with Iran by the U.S. with the P5+1 member nations. 1. Officials: Relationship Between Obama Administration and Israeli Government is 'Irreparable' - Algemeiner
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's senior advisers have described the relationship between the Obama Administration and the Israeli government as "irreparable," the UK's Jewish Chronicle reported on Thursday. Their dire evaluation comes on the heels of weeks of hostility from the White House and State Department towards Netanyahu, a situation which has intensified since Netanyahu's Likud party won the largest amount of Knesset seats in Israel's general election last week.
Less than 24 hours after polls closed in Israel, and Likud's win became evident, the administration was already openly talking about a "reevaluation" of the relationship with Israel. The stance was later toned down by administration officials to reevaluating the United States' approach to the peace process. The United States has hinted that its "re-evaluation" of the peace process might entail the withdrawal of its veto on some anti-Israel resolutions tabled at the UN Security Council. (Read more)
2. Unity threat looms over coalition talks - Jerusalem Post
The Likud intends to use the prospect of President Reuven Rivlin pushing the formation of a national-unity government to persuade its prospective coalition partners to ease their demands before the initial April 22 deadline to form a new coalition, Likud sources said Thursday.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu received a four-week mandate from Rivlin Wednesday night to form a government. If he fails to build a coalition by April 22, he could ask Rivlin for two more weeks, but the president could insist that a government be formed with the Zionist Union during a second round of coalition talks.
Likud sources said the prospect of the president's intervention could make it easier for Bayit Yehudi and Yisrael Beytenu to compromise ahead of the initial deadline and enable a new government to be formed in time for the Independence Day holiday, which begins that evening.
Netanyahu met with Bayit Yehudi leader Naftali Bennett at the Prime Minister's Office Thursday night, and the Likud's negotiating team held marathon talks at the Knesset with representatives from Bayit Yehudi, Shas, Yisrael Beytenu and United Torah Judaism. No significant progress was made in any of the meetings and Likud officials said portfolios were purposely not discussed. (Read more)
3. Hamas Claims it Uncovered New Israeli Spying Technology - Israel National News
A source in the Hamas security apparatus has claimed that the terrorist organization has exposed new technological means used by the Israel Security Agency (ISA or Shin Bet) to gather intelligence in Gaza. Speaking to the Hamas internal security website Al-Majd Al-Amni, the source said that ISA "has recently been feeling the force of the blows of the resistance (i.e. Gaza terrorist groups - ed.) and is starting to search for methods of action and new technology to ease its connection with agents on the ground." 4. IDF passes reform to W. Bank laws dealing with Palestinians - Jerusalem Post
The IDF late Wednesday announced it has passed the largest legal reform in years to its West Bank laws dealing with crimes committed by Palestinians. The head of the military's Central Command has the power to issue and amend laws in Judea and Samaria as long as the IDF maintains control of the area, and has amended laws from time to time based on the advice of the IDF legal division and the Justice Ministry. 5. Abbas Risks ICC Declaring Gaza is Not His - Israel National News
The Palestinian Authority (PA) is looking to sue Israel for "war crimes" at the International Criminal Court (ICC), and even while it is not clear the ICC will recognize the PA as a bona fide state, there are numerous other caveats though that could hold back whatever advantage the PA thinks it might have. Eugene Kontorovich, lecturer in international law at Northwestern University, tells Arutz Sheva that the PA must meet the binding legal definition of a state, and he argues the ICC is ignoring basic fundamentals of international law in order to advance the PA's application for membership.
For one, the ICC is trying to usurp the rules by incorporating UN General Assembly (GA) resolutions into its decision-making on Ramallah's application. The GA is not authorized to recognize states by the United Nations' charter, and yet the ICC's chief prosecutor is taking GA decisions about "Palestine's" observational status as grounds to treat it as a state member to the court. 6. Saudi airstrikes in Yemen target rebel stronghold in north - Times of Israel
ANAA, Yemen (AP) - Saudi Arabia bombed the northern stronghold of Yemen's Shiite rebels and other key military installations on Friday as a coalition led by the Gulf kingdom carried out airstrikes for a second day. The military action is turning impoverished and chaotic Yemen into a new front in the rivalry between Sunni heavyweight Saudi Arabia and Shiite power Iran, which supports the rebels known as Houthis
Heavy airstrikes early Friday targeted Saada, the stronghold of the Houthis, focusing on locations where rebel leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi might be, military officials said. Saudi warplanes also bombed the al-Sana army camp in the Arhab region northeast of Sanaa, run by commanders loyal to former President Ali Abdullah Saleh. (Read more)

WASHINGTON (AP) - Saudi Arabia's ambassador to the United States says Iran has been playing a key role in backing the Houthi advance in Yemen. Adel al-Jubeir says Iranian Revolutionary Guards officers, as well as operatives from the Iran-backed Lebanese militia Hezbollah, are on the ground in Yemen advising the Houthis. (Read more)

Why we must discern
Sometimes the news events on the world stage seem unbelievable. The "Hands up, don't shoot" slogan coming out of Ferguson, Mo., was a lie, as Eric Holder's Justice Department finally admitted in its report. Yet, Holder himself, perpetrated the lie as he incited riots rather than calm. At the time, we had to know something was fishy. Same is true for the release of deserter Bowe Bergdahl, who the "president" traded for in releasing five high-level Taliban extremists. The "president" got his moment of empathy for bringing home an America boy, but in the process released dangerous terrorists. Now the truth is coming home to roost on both stories, further underscoring why discernment is essential.
Ahead of the announcement on whether to indict the police officer who shot Mike Brown of Ferguson, Mo, a group calling itself the "No Shoot Coalition" negotiated with police over the rules of engagement for the riots they planned following the announcement. In essence, this coalition of leftists that included the New Black Panther Party, Amnesty International, the ACLU, several unions, and communist party fronts, tried to tie the hands of police in protecting those citizens of Ferguson who would not participate in violent protests after the announcement. Attorney General Eric Holder inflamed these people with his remarks at the time, plying them with the "Hands up, don't shoot" mantra. He knew all along what he was doing.
Relating to Bowe Bergdahl, the "president" broke longstanding policy and negotiated with Islamic terrorists. He gave up five of the most dangerous Taliban Commanders in US custody. They were key relationship builders between the Taliban, al Qaeda, and Iran. He likely broke the law. He sends a signal that the US will give in to terrorists who kidnap soldiers and citizens. It makes me wonder, and it should beg the question: Was there an alternative motive? This president is sympathetic to Islamic causes and has been cozy with the Muslim Brotherhood and its allies since his first foreign policy speech. A small price to pay to aid and comfort the enemy, while trying to convince citizens Bergdahl was legitimate.
Psalm 37:12 says, "The wicked plots against the just, and gnashes upon him with his teeth." National Security Advisor, the infamous Susan Rice of the Benghazi catastrophe, said, "Sergeant Bergdahl wasn't simply a hostage; he was an American prisoner of war captured on the battlefield." If we are indeed at war with the Taliban and its accomplices, this president should be tried for treason. Is it not obvious what is going on here? Jesus said in Matthew 24:4, "Take heed that no man deceive you." Knowingly deceiving people to advance a political agenda has been going on for a long time. When something seems wrong, it probably is, especially when it is as outlandish as these two examples. But what of the ones that have enough truth to make a great lie? We must discern.

Editor's note: As we near the end of this momentous week, when Senator Ted Cruz became the first candidate to announce his campaign for the presidency; when Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid announced his retirement; there yet remains one question on all of our minds tonight:
Was mass-murdering co-pilot Andreas Lubitz a Moslem?
This is what we know for sure at this point: The co-pilot intentionally crashed the plane. He was very calm in the moments preceding the crash. He killed all 150 passengers on board. He committed this mass murder with an airplane. His religion remains unknown at the time of this publication. Muslim terrorism cannot be ruled out.
In trying to frame intercession for this critical matter, we quote Aimee Herd from Breaking Christian News:
While there has been some speculation on the internet that the co-pilot may have been a recent convert to Islam, this has NOT been confirmed. Therefore it remains an unsubstantiated rumor at this point. If that changes, BCN will make that known to our readers. -Aimee Herd, BCN

California Christians Celebrate a Big Win For Religious Freedom in Their State
"This case is a great example of why we need to continue to stand for religious liberty regardless of the cultural climate. We can win as long as we show-up to defend our constitutional rights." -Robert Tyler
(Thousand Oaks, CA)-On Monday, March 23rd, a Ventura County Superior Court judge affirmed the rights of a Christian school in Thousand Oaks, California, to ask that its employees provide a reference from a pastor.
Little Oaks School asked their employees to provide the reference in order to renew their contracts each year. Two preschool teachers refused to provide a pastor's reference and their contracts were not renewed.
They argued that because the school was not a non-profit entity they had no right to require their employees to obtain a pastor's reference. The school was owned by Calvary Chapel Thousand Oaks and served as a ministry to the community even though it was not separately organized as a tax exempt entity.
Advocates for Faith & Freedom, with the support of Tyler & Bursch, LLP, represented the school and Calvary Chapel Thousand Oaks. They argued that the school is protected by a ministerial exception backed by decades of case law that prohibits courts from intervening in the employment decisions of religious organizations.
The Judge agreed in his ruling and explained, "the ministerial exception is constitutionally compelled and arises out of the Establishment and Free exercise clauses of the First Amendment. . . It is based on the concept that secular courts will not attempt to right wrongs related to hiring, firing, discipline or administration of clergy. It extends to church related institutions which have a substantial religious character, which includes church related schools."
Attorney James Long applauded the judge's ruling saying, "We are grateful that this Court has chosen to protect the liberty of Little Oaks School. It only makes sense that a Christian school has the constitutional right to require that its teachers provide a reference from a pastor."

USGS upgrades Aleutian volcano alert level
Citing increased seismic intensity, the U.S. Geological Survey is upgrading the volcano alert level status for Semisopochnoi, an Aleutian Island volcano, to "advisory," the agency said in a notice issued Wednesday morning.
Seismic activity at the Semisopochnoi volcano began in January, but "has increased in intensity over the past few days," USGS wrote in the notice. "In addition, we have detected brief periods of seismic tremor, which can indicate movement of magma or magmatic gases."
Semisopochnoi is remote even by Alaska standards. It lies on an island of the same name some 127 miles from Adak and 1,283 miles from Anchorage.
