The Daily Brief:

"Praying for All in Authority"

Tuesday, March 17, 2015

"Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision." (Joel 3:14)

The Daily Brief

1. LIVE UPDATES: TV exit polls show Netanyahu set to retain premiership - Times of Israel

Polling stations opened at 7 a.m. on Tuesday and Israeli citizens headed for the ballots to vote for Israel's 20th Knesset. Polls from the end of last week had left options open for a tight race. The TV exit polls were published at 10 p.m., as polling stations closed, after which official results began to roll in. The official final results won't be publicized until Thursday.

. . . Unlike years past, analysts had said the race between Likud and Zionist Union, the two leading factions, was too close to call with confidence, but the exit polls showed Netanyahu clearly better placed to build the next coalition. Read more.

- Lord God, we ask for Your wisdom to guide the authorities as they review today's vote with careful scrutiny, to be sure that each vote is counted correctly. If there was any fraud involved in today's election -- with some voters falsely claiming to hold Israeli citizenship when casting their ballot, we ask that these facts be revealed quickly and in truth, in Your name, amen and amen.

- "For the devious are an abomination to the LORD; But He is intimate with the upright." (Proverbs 3:32)

2. Netanyahu: "A Great Victory for Likud!" - CNN

Likud captures 28 seats; Zionist Union holds 27.

The incumbent said his camp prevailed.

"Against all odds: a great victory for the Likud. A major victory for the people of Israel!" Netanyahu tweeted soon after the estimates were released. (Read more)

- Lord God, although many in the media tonight are stating that this election is "too close to call," the numbers do not lie: 28 seats are one more than 27. We ask that You move the hearts of the captains of industry in the media to report the facts, in truth, rather than "spinning" these reports to suit their own agendas. We ask this prayer in Jesus' name, amen and amen.

- "If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it." (John 14:14)

3. Obama-linked nonprofit filed for new IRS status after accusation of meddling in Israeli election - Fox News

The American nonprofit OneVoice Movement - under scrutiny by a U.S. Senate panel over possible links to a campaign to oust Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu - quietly filed paperwork that would allow it to engage in political activism after two leading Republican lawmakers questioned its use of government funds, FoxNews.com has learned.

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Rep. Lee Zeldin, R-N.Y., sent a letter Jan. 29 to Secretary of State John Kerry asking whether the group - as a recipient of almost $350,000 in recent grants from the Obama administration's State Department - had violated its tax-exempt status when it began backing the virulently anti-Netanyahu Victory 15 campaign in Israel earlier that month. (Read more)

- Once again, Lord, we lift up those in authority in our own nation, asking that those who may have acted illegally be held accountable, and justice rendered in due time. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen and amen.

- "For the devious are an abomination to the LORD; But He is intimate with the upright." (Proverbs 3:32)

3. The election is in President Rivlin's hands - Times of Israel

By all the evidence we can muster - that is, the average of multiple polls from last Friday, the last day in which publishing polls was allowed - one thing is clear: the race for prime minister will almost certainly be close enough that it will be up to President Reuven Rivlin to determine who gets first chance at forming a coalition. (Read more)

- Lord God, it seems that, in Israel, it's not over 'til it's over. The votes cast today by the IDF have not yet come in. We ask for a STRONG vote to be counted, giving P.M. Netanyahu as many as 30 seats. That being the case, President Rivlin, we trust, would have to yield to the voice of the people, and give them the coalition government that they are asking for. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen and amen.

- "The king's heart is like channels of water in the hand of the LORD; He turns it wherever He wishes." (Proverbs 21:1)

5. Britain: Assad Has No Place in Syria's Future - Israel National News

Britain insists Bashar Al-Assad had no place in Syria's future, after Kerry says Washington will have to negotiate with him.

Britain insisted on Sunday that President Bashar Al-Assad had no place in Syria's future, after the United States conceded it would have to negotiate with the embattled leader to end the country's civil war.

"Assad has no place in Syria's future," a Foreign Office spokeswoman said in a statement quoted by AFP, in response to the comments by Secretary of State John Kerry.

"As the (British) foreign secretary said last week, we will continue applying sanctions pressure to the regime until it reassesses its position, ends the violence and engages in meaningful negotiations with the moderate opposition."

After years of insisting Assad's days were numbered, Kerry told CBS television in an interview broadcast Sunday that Washington would have to negotiate with the iron-fisted leader to end the war. (Read more)

- Father, we pray an end to Syria's violence. We pray You give wisdom on how to deal with Syria's leader, Assad. We also pray our leaders will be steadfast and consistent in their responses, as to Assad having a future as the leader of Syria. We pray agreement between Britain and the U.S.

- Can two walk together, except they be agreed? (Amos 3:3)

6. Putin says he was prepared to raise nuclear alert during Crimea crisis - CS Monitor

Russia was ready to bring its nuclear weapons into a state of alert during last year's tensions over the Crimean Peninsula and the overthrow of Ukraine's president, President Vladimir Putin said in remarks aired on Sunday.  (Read more)

- Father God, it is sad to have this kind of threat mentioned for public consumption, as if to put other countries on notice that this man will go to any lengths to possess what he thinks Russia should have. You said in Your Word that You establish the boundaries of countries and it is not up to man to change that. We ask You, in the name of Jesus to put a stop to this aggressive behavior. Bless You for protecting the Ukraine and Crimea.

- "And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings." (Acts 17:26)

7. Australian counter-terror police 'stopping 400 per day' - BBC

Australian police are stopping hundreds of people every day at airports in an attempt to prevent would-be jihadists leaving the country. A new counter-terror unit conducted nearly 76,000 "real-time" stops - more than 400 per day - at eight airports between August and February. The screenings are not random. Counter-terror police are targeting potentially suspicious travellers.   (Read more)

- Thank You, Father, for a country wise enough to ignore political correctness and stop all who look suspicious in order to protect their country. Lord, we pray that our country will take up this measure to protect us from those who would leave to join a group that has vowed to destroy all who are not in agreement with their religion. We pray that wisdom would also be used in who is allowed to enter this country. Amen.

- "Rescue me and deliver me from the hand of foreigners, whose mouth speaks lying words, and whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood-" (Psalms 144:11)

8. Nearly a million protest Brazil's president, economy, corruption - Yahoo

Close to a million demonstrators marched in cities and towns across Brazil on Sunday to protest a sluggish economy, rising prices and corruption - and to call for the impeachment of left-wing President Dilma Rousseff.   (Read more)

- Father, we pray peace and prosperity upon Brazil and its people. May their economy make a comeback and flourish. We pray wisdom on Brazil's president. May she handle the scandal in her country and hold those involved accountable.

- Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.(Isaiah 1:17)

9. James Clapper, the director of National Intelligence, removed Iran and Hezbollah from terror list - Times of Israel

An annual report delivered recently to the US Senate by James Clapper, the director of National Intelligence, removed Iran and Hezbollah from its list of terrorism threats, after years in which they featured in similar reports.

The unclassified version of the Worldwide Threat Assessment of the US Intelligence Communities, dated February 26, 2015 (PDF), noted Iran's efforts to combat Sunni extremists, including those of the ultra-radical Islamic State group, who were perceived to constitute the preeminent terrorist threat to American interests worldwide.

In describing Iran's regional role, the report noted the Islamic Republic's "intentions to dampen sectarianism, build responsive partners, and deescalate tensions with Saudi Arabia," but cautioned that "Iranian leaders-particularly within the security services-are pursuing policies with negative secondary consequences for regional stability and potentially for Iran.

"Iran's actions to protect and empower Shia communities are fueling growing fears and sectarian responses," it said. (Read more)

- Lord God, we are truly dismayed and even frightened to read this report. We simply do not understand how our own nation's leaders can remove the names of these two terrorist organizations from the terror watch list, when even nations like the United Arab Emirates have already done the opposite: naming Hezbollah and Iran as the terrorists that they are. Help us, Lord, we pray. Our leaders seem to have literally taken leave of their senses. In Jesus' name we pray, amen and amen.

- "The eternal God is your Refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms." (Deuteronomy 33:27)

10. Kerry's Gaffe Exposes 'IsraelPhobia' - Jewish Press

If Kerry confuses Egypt with Israel, what will be on his mind in talks with Iran?

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry spoke enthusiastically about Egypt in a speech on Friday but made a very undiplomatic boo-boo by stating that Egyptian President Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi is committed to Israel's future.

Yes, that is what he said. Here is the entire sentence, according to the official U.S. State Dept, transcript of his speech at American Chamber of Commerce of Egypt in Sharm el-Sheikh.:

President Sisi has engaged on a bold and critical path to implement reforms. He's committed to restoring investor confidence in Israel's future."

The State Dept. later noted that he meant to say "Egypt's future."

How could a mistake like that have been made by the Secretary of the State of the United States of America, the man who knows he can bring peace between Israel and the Arab world, and between Iran and the rest of the world? (Read more)

- Oh, Lord, we ask that You would do a work in this man's life so that he will never again get Israel confused with another country. Lord, make it plain to him, in Your own special way, that You have raised up Israel to be a free country in the midst of Islamic dictatorships and that Your hand is upon them. In the name of Jesus, we bind up further confusion in this man and ask You to change what is in his heart concerning Israel.

- "O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh." (Matthew 12:34)

The Middle East in Focus

"Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the LORD, who has compassion on you." (Isaiah 54:10)

4. Israel's Election: more ballots yet to be counted - (Private source)

The final results will not be known until tomorrow when the IDF votes are counted. They are expected to be strongly Likud or Naphtali Bennett.

5. Israel's Election: Likud in position to form new coalition government - (Private sources)

Right now it looks like P.M. Netanyahu will be the next P.M. of Israel. The Labor Party lags behind Likud, but even if Labor picks up some mandates, they don't hae enough parties willing to sit with them in a coalition. Likud does.

6. Saudi prince criticizes Iran deal - Jerusalem Post

Any terms that world powers grant Iran under a nuclear deal will be sought by Saudi Arabia and other countries, risking wider proliferation of atomic technology, a senior Saudi prince warned on Monday in a BBC interview.

"I've always said whatever comes out of these talks, we will want the same," said Prince Turki al-Faisal, who has previously served as head of Saudi intelligence and Riyadh's ambassador to Washington and London but is no longer a government official.

"The whole world will be an open door to go that route without any inhibition, and that's my main objection to this P5+1 process," said the prince, who is a brother of Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal. (Read more)

White House support of Shiite and Sunni alike

Just because a politician is elected to office, it doesn't mean he should be allowed to destroy the nation and put its people at risk. There are checks and balances in the United States government that should prevent a president from an usurpation from within. These checks and balances should have a far more noble grit than being controlled by the playing of the race card every time there is an attempt at accountability. This nation is in dire trouble if the current Administration is allowed to carry on at its current rate of speed another two years. From a Constitutional perspective, a moral and righteous standpoint, this White House has been allowed to enter the dark side and it endangers the entire world.

Case in point are the events over the weekend. The White House, led by the "first lady," celebrated the Persian new year Nowruz. Prominent Iranians from across the country and on the White House staff were part of the celebration. Keep in mind, the woman that runs the White House and is considered the closest advisor to the "president" is Iranian Valerie Jarrett. The "first lady" said, "And I think it's so fitting that we're holding this celebration here today because one of my favorite things about the White House is how it is truly the People's House--a house that reflects the diversity of culture and traditions that make us who we are as a country. And Nowruz is one of those traditions."

She continued, "For more than 3,000 years, families and communities in the Middle East, Asia, and all around the world, including here in the United States, have celebrated this holiday to mark the renewal of the earth in springtime -- and we're finally feeling spring! Yay for that! To reflect on the year before, and to make new commitments for good health, prosperity in the year ahead." Is there be any doubt as to the timing of this White House celebration as the "president" is negotiating a deal with Iranian terrorists that will lead to them having nuclear weapons? Is this a new year, mother earth worshiping celebration, or a pre-nuclear victory lap by a president who is bent on remaking America into Islamic Marxism?

Meanwhile, the Senate Permanent Subcommittee has opened a formal investigation into White House/State Department funding of OneVoice--a non profit in Israel devoted to promoting a Palestinian state through efforts such as "The Land is Ours" campaign. The US Embassy in Tel Aviv transferred some $350,000 to OneVoice in November 2014 after Benjamin Netanyahu announced he would run for re-election. OneVoice works to defeat Netanyahu. From celebrating the Iranian new year to supporting formation of a terrorist state, this White House is on both sides of the Islamic Marxist philosophy--Sunni and Shiite--the possible prophetic toes of iron and clay. Jesus said in Matthew 24:4, "Take heed that no man deceive you." This deception from the White House is a danger to us all.

Israel elections--Speculative or prophetic?

I never have been a fan of speculative journalism--that is coming of with a scenario and discussing it as if it were fact. In journalism, we are supposed to write about the facts. Problem is these days, that there is so much deception that it is difficult to get to the facts. Now prophecy is another animal altogether. Prophecy is the facts yet to come and the events surrounding what will bring them about as they play out. The current situation in Israel is a prophetic one. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has held the line on negotiating with terrorists and has been strong on the protection of Israel. He has been like a candle in the wind of nonsensical liberal dogma seeking to destroy Israel.

Netanyahu is in the way. The occupant of the Oval Office and other leaders around the world that are trying to guide into existence an end time caliphate against Israel need a weak, leftist minded, Islamist Marxist-trusting leader at the helm in Israel. They need someone who will give in to having a hostile terrorist state cutting across the midsection of Israel. They need Iran to have nuclear power. They need the Islamic State to advance. They need to topple Bashar Assad's Syrian government. They need to topple any stable government that stands in the way of the Islamic State and Iran's upcoming Persian-Assyrian empire. They need it, not because they believe in prophecy playing out, but because they hate Israel.

I do not want to give the impression that I favor the US "president" or the Islamic State because they are advancing prophecy. Those who know me and read my posts know that I renounce and deplore all they stand for. But I do see them as tools of the dark side in advancing end time prophecy. It is just that we as a people, as Christians and Americans, should not have leaders that favor satan and his move toward the Beast government of the end times--no matter how much we want Jesus Christ to return. It does not bode well for us. As the prophet Zechariah writes in 12:3, "And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces."

The Lord also says in Zechariah 12:9, "And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem." The US "president" has done all within his power to bring about that day where the enemies of Israel come against Jerusalem--he has destabilized the Middle East, helped birth the Islamic State, empowered the Muslim Brotherhood, and has campaigned against Netanyahu. He has taken America on a fast track to the prophetic dark side, a journey that is sure to have prophetic ramifications for each of us. We are to: never become weary in doing good; to overcome evil with good; to let our light so shine before men that they may see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven. This does not mean hastening prophecy by allowing evil to advance. Making disciples is a more acceptable path.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

South Africa: 1,462 come to faith through prayer

650 people gave their lives to Jesus during a week of 24-7 prayer in South Africa which culminated on New Years Eve. And that was just the beginning of an incredible January for Peter Sekhonyane who mobilises prayer in giant tents around the South African townships. "Speak about the power of prayer," he says. A few days later they launched three nights of prayer in Johannesburg, and these continued for two weeks! "Out of that time of prayer we ended up with 812 conversions and no single shop was attacked," says Peter.

Such stories demonstrate, once again, the powerful transformational relationship between prayer, mission (more than a 1000 people saved in January alone through prayer meetings), and justice (protection on businesses in a deprived and volatile part of the world).

Songs Our Grandmothers Sang

Songs Our Grandmothers Sang:

O WORSHIP THE KING

"O Lord my God, You are very great; You are clothed with splendor and majesty." (Psalm 104:1-2)

In these perilous times, when all that can be shaken is being shaken, let us return to the "faith of our fathers" and sing the hymns and songs of old.

May we each draw strength in our own time, as we "dig the wells of treasure" to draw upon the strength that carried our ancestors through their own perilous times. Amen.

Lyrics:

O worship the King, all glorious above,
O gratefully sing His power and His love;
Our Shield and Defender, the Ancient of Days,
Pavilioned in splendor, and girded with praise.

O tell of His might, O sing of His grace,
Whose robe is the light, whose canopy space,
His chariots of wrath the deep thunderclouds form,
And dark is His path on the wings of the storm.
