The Daily Brief:

"Praying for All in Authority"

Wednesday, August 13, 2014

"All nations whom You have made shall come and worship before You, O Lord, And shall glorify Your name. For You are great, and do wondrous things;
You alone are God."
(Psalm 86:9,10)

"And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse . . ." (Rev. 19:1)
The Daily Brief

1. U.S. sends 130 more troops to Iraq - Yahoo

Another 130 U.S. troops arrived in Iraq on Tuesday on what the Pentagon described as a temporary mission to assess the scope of the humanitarian crisis facing thousands of displaced Iraqi civilians trapped on Sinjar Mountain and evaluate options for getting them out to safety.

- Father, we pray for a quick deliverance for these displaced Iraqi civilians. In Jesus Name.

- Deliver the poor and needy; rescue them out of the hand of the wicked. (Psalm 82: 4)

2. Obama Blames Bush for Iraq Troop Withdraw - Washington Times

President Barack Obama who spent years touting his success of withdrawing U.S. forces from Iraq, but now facing the jihadist threats of the Islamic State in the Middle East is now blaming former President Bush for the absence of American troops in Iraq.

- Father, how disappointing it is for the leader of our country to blame others for the events in Iraq. Father, we cry out for a leader who is humble, admits when he is wrong, and finds solutions rather than blame others for the problems. Thank You, that You always have a remnant of leaders to stand up at the right time and place. We declare that the time is now for the remnant to come forth.

- Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace. (Romans 11:5)

3. Obama Administration's Release of Illegal Immigrants Unlawful, Audit Finds

The Obama administration violated the law when it released thousands of illegal immigrants last February, more than 600 of whom had criminal records, according to an internal audit released Tuesday that blamed the problem on poor planning and bad leadership from Washington.

- Father, protect us from bad judgment on the part of America's leadership. We pray the thousands of illegal immigrants who have criminal records be gathered up and detained, in Jesus Name.

- When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan. (Proverbs 29:2)

4. 60 Percent of Americans Don't Trust Gov't with their 'personal info'

Nearly 60 percent of Americans don't trust the federal government to handle their personal information, however the results differed greatly depending on your political views, according to a Harris Poll.

- Father, we ask protection from those in our government who want to infringe on our rights as citizens by accessing more of our personal information. Help us be on guard and remain alert.

- Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: (1 Peter 5:8)

5. A Massive 'Red Tide' Is Threatening Florida Beaches - and Scientists Haven't Seen One So Large in Nearly a Decade - The Blaze

A toxic red tide blooming off the coast of Florida has killed about one-thousand sea creatures and may soon pose a minor health threat to humans. According to the Orlando Sentinel, the red tide occurs when Karenia brevis, a microscopic algae, begins to multiply quickly in numbers.

- Father, assist the scientists on handling this "Red Tide" that is killing sea creatures. Give them the solution to resolve this, in Jesus Name.

- If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. (James 1:5)

6. Egypt wants Palestinian Authority to supplant Hamas in Gaza - Ynet News

Cairo proposes deployment of PA security forces into Gaza border perimeter with Israel, moving handling of Strip finances to Abbas. The key points covered in the draft document are as follows (Go here)

- Lord God in Heaven, we continue to beseech You over any plans to bring a permanent cease-fire. We ask that only those plans that are approved by Your sovereign hand be approved by all parties involved, and we ask this in Jesus' Name, amen.

- "Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven." (Matthew 18:19)

7. U.S. Senators want UNRWA investigated over 'troubling' Gaza role - Jerusalem Post

Members of the United States Senate are demanding an independent investigation into the role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency during Israel's most recent war in Gaza with Hamas.

Accusing UNRWA of maintaining active and extensive ties with Hamas- and of supporting its activities throughout the month-long war- Senate Foreign Relations Committee members Mark Kirk (R-Ill.), Ben Cardin (D-Md.) and Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) wrote a letter this week to US Secretary of State John Kerry accusing the UN agency of bias and characterizing its role in the conflict as "troubling."

UNRWA, an ostensibly neutral agency tasked with administering aid to Palestinian refugees throughout the region, adopted a political role in the heat of the conflict, during which at least four of its facilities were badly damaged and many of their inhabitants killed. During the deadliest days of the war, UNRWA officials went on record accusing the Israeli government of violating international humanitarian law.

The senators note that the US government is the single largest donor to UNRWA, providing the agency with $294 million in 2013 and a total of $5 billion since 1950. (Read more)

- Lord God, we thank You that these members of the Senate are speaking up and demanding that this investigation be undertaken. We ask that all hidden things be revealed, and that all secret ties between Hamas and UNRWA be exposed and brought to justice. We ask this in Your name, amen.

- "It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings. " (Prov. 25:2)

8. Islamic State's shocking barbarity prompts calls for world to act - Fox News

Shocking accounts of medieval brutality - including video of kneeling Iraqis being gunned down, a Twitter image of a young jihadist holding a severed head and threats by ISIS to take its savagery to the White House - have prompted desperate calls for the international community to stop the fanatical Islamic group.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon this week joined Pope Francis, Egypt's top cleric and several world leaders in condemning the terrorist group, which now calls itself Islamic State and has carved out a caliphate, or nation of strict Sharia law, in northern Iraq and Syria.

"I am profoundly dismayed by its barbaric acts, including accounts of summary executions, boys forcibly taken from their homes to fight, girls abducted or trafficked as sex slaves," Moon said Tuesday. "I urge the international community to do even more to provide the protection they need. And I condemn in the strongest possible terms the systematic persecution of individuals from minority populations and those who refuse the extremist ideology of 'IS' and associated armed groups."

- Father, we cry out in intercession over these barbaric acts by the Islamic State. They must be stopped. We cry mercy over the citizens under attack, in Jesus Name.

- The LORD is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. (Psalm 145:9)

9. Gaza cease-fire falls apart hours early - CNN

For 70 hours, there was relative peace. But -- as has proven true time and again in relations between Israel and Hamas-controlled Gaza -- it didn't last.

Two hours before a 72-hour cease-fire was set to expire, and as talks continued in Egypt aimed at extending it, an Israeli military spokesman told CNN that a rocket from "Gaza terrorists" struck in the Hof Ashkelon area of southern Israel on Wednesday night.

There were no initial reports of injuries or damage. Nonetheless, the very fact a rocket even landed threatened to disrupt the tenuous situation in the region. (Read more)

- Lord God, it is written, "Before you call, I will answer." Today, You have done just that. Father, this issue of The Daily Brief includes information about negotiations out of Egypt, and our prayer (written elsewhere) is that, if this is not according to Your will, You would stop it. Thank you, God, for answering our prayer so quickly today, in Your Name, amen.

- "It will also come to pass that before they call, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear." (Isaiah 65:24)

2. Egypt Presents Proposal to End War in Gaza - Ynet News

Egypt presented a proposed cease-fire to Israel and Hamas aimed at ending the month-long war, Palestinian officials said early Wednesday after negotiators huddled for a second day of Egyptian-mediated talks aimed at ending the crisis and bringing relief to the embattled Gaza Strip.

After more than 10 hours of talks on Tuesday, Palestinian officials told The Associated Press early Wednesday morning that Egypt's proposal calls for easing parts of the Israeli blockade of Gaza, bringing some relief to the territory. But it leaves the key areas of disagreement, including the Islamic militant group Hamas' demand for a full lifting of the blockade and Israeli calls for Hamas to disarm, to later negotiations.

If the sides accept the proposal it would have a significant impact on Palestinians in Gaza as it would improve the movement of individuals and merchandise to the West Bank. Gaza businesses have been hit hard by restrictions imposed on the territory by Israel and Egypt after Hamas took control of Gaza in 2007. (Read more)

- Father God, we pray for TRUTH to reign in the midst of any "peace talks" between the Palestinians and the Israelis in this hour. We pray that Hamas would have no say-so in any of these negotiations; and that whatever results would be for the blessing of the Israeli people as well as the innocent civilians who reside inside Gaza.

We also ask that any hidden "snares" or traps in the wording of this language would be exposed and we bind the spirit of "ambush" that might be behind these talks. We ask this in Your Name, amen.

- "He thwarts the plans of the crafty, so that their hands achieve no success." (Job 5:12)

4. Makeup of UN Gaza probe panel proves anti-Israel bias - Times of Israel

Israel dismissed the Monday appointment of the three members of a UN human rights' investigative committee to review the recent military operation in Gaza, saying the identity of the three proved that the results of the probe were a foregone conclusion. (Read more)

5. Fatah boasts of killing Israelis even as it seeks to end fighting in Gaza
- Fox News

Hopes that Fatah will be a calming influence on Hamas in the effort to end the fighting in Gaza have been tempered by mixed messages the supposedly more moderate wing of Palestinian leadership is sending to its international audience and its West Bank constituents - including boasting on its Facebook page of the number of Israelis it has killed.

In a post seemingly aimed at reminding Palestinians it hates Israel as much as Hamas, the U.S.-designated terrorist organization that governs Gaza, the Fatah party seems to take issue with the idea that it isn't doing enough to fight the Jewish state. The belligerent Facebook message - containing fabricated statistics - was posted on the official home page of Fatah's Facebook even as representatives of the party founded by the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat were in Cairo for the peace talks. (Read statement here)

6. Iranian General Says Hezbollah Ready to Open Second Front Against Israel - The Algemeiner

A senior Iranian military commander threatened that the country's Lebanon based surrogate Hezbollah was prepared to open a second front of rocket fire against Israel as negotiators worked to bring quiet to the Jewish state's southern border after more than a month of fighting with Gaza based terror group Hamas.

Lieutenant Commander General Hossein Salami of Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps' claimed on Saturday that Hezbollah is prepared to "storm the Zionist regime by its high-precision missiles." (Read more)

1. Paul Bremer: Iraq Trouble Is Obama's Fault - Newsmax

President Barack Obama's controversial statement that it wasn't his decision to pull U.S. troops out of Iraq, but that of the George W. Bush administration, won't hold water, says Paul Bremer, former U.S. administrator in Iraq.

"History will be pretty clear that the decision not to have any troops there after Jan. 1, 2012, was a very serious, strategic mistake that the president made,'' Bremer said Tuesday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV. (Read more)

4. The rise of the Islamic State - BBC

The rapid advance across Iraq by militant fighters from the Islamic State, widely known as Isis, has thrown the country into chaos and led to US air strikes against their key positions. The brutal, extremist group, which claims to have fighters from across the world, has announced the establishment of a "caliphate" - an Islamic state - across parts of Iraq and Syria and forced many minority communities from their homes. Where did the Islamic State (IS) come from? (Continue reading the main story)

5. ISIS, Hamas, and Boko Haram- Newt Gingrich

Grim, unyielding and violent reality is beginning to confront the American political establishment with facts from which it cannot hide. For 35 years, since Iranians seized the American Embassy on November 4, 1979, and kept the Americans in it as hostages, the United States has been at war with radical Islamists. They knew it. We hid from it.

Year after year since then, radical Islamists have grown more militant, more sophisticated and more numerous.

Now, in an arc of terror from Boko Haram in Nigeria through Hamas in Gaza to ISIS in Iraq, Syria and Lebanon, there is a clear wave of vicious religious warfare being waged against civilization by fanatics who openly promise and engage in genocidal killing. (Read article here)

The Daily Jot

Where is the outrage?

CBS News Senior National Security Analyst Juan Zarate says the White House, counterterrorism experts and politicians do not know whether the Islamic State of Syria and the Levant, (ISSL, formerly Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, and Islamic State) "is really a group just devoted to the regional goals of establishing an Islamic caliphate, or if at the same time they are developing global--not just ambitions but capabilities--to attack the West." In the sterile talking head analysis of the al-Qaeda born Islamic army, both politicians and news reporters alike are sidestepping history, deeds, and declarations of ISSL as well as its stated purpose. These commentators and so-called leaders can't see the forrest for the trees.

First and foremost, irrespective of what ISSL is, is what it is doing. It is moving across Syria and Iraq killing everyone in its path that doesn't agree with it. First news reports spoke of the terror this organization was creating by beheading its adversaries and sticking their heads on posts along the roads. Another wave of news reports documented that Christians were to convert to Islam, pay the jizya tax, or die. The result has been mostly death as ISSL identifies Christians and kills them anyway. Evidence is the dozens of pictures of children with their heads sawed off, families slaughtered and laying on top of one another, and the bloody selfies these barbarians take of their deeds and post online.
The driving force behind ISSL is Abu Duaa. Abu Duaa was released in 2009 when the "president" shut down the Bucca prison camp in Iraq. He sees both Syria and Iraq as an Islamic state, the beginning of a single al Qaeda caliphate. If it is rooted in al Qaeda, it is also rooted in the Muslim Brotherhood, the "president's" foreign policy partner. The goal of the Muslim Brotherhood is to facilitate the building of a worldwide caliphate to usher in the Islamic Mahdi for his seven year reign on earth with his prophet Jesus. The eschatology is all written in the Koran and other prophetic writings of Islam, and Muslims have been awaiting the reformation of the caliphate as a sign of the end times.

This ISSL group's goal is to establish a worldwide caliphate where Christians and Jews are slaughtered with impunity. Revelation 20:4 says, "And I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years." I have seen pictures of little children and their parents beheaded by ISSL. Members of ISSL tell the media they intend to hoist their flag over the White House. Where is the outrage? Is the veil that blinds reporters and politicians so thick that not a ray of truth may enter?

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

World on Alert as Ebola Spreads

World on Alert as Ebola Spreads

On multiple occasions this week AlertsUSA subscribers were notified via text messages to their mobile devices concerning new US and international health agency warnings and actions regarding the expanding spread of the Ebola virus. This week has seen reports of suspected or confirmed cases in the Philippines, India, Benin, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Ontario and Mexico (our source was USGOV medical official). Additional confirmed cases and deaths have been reported in Nigeri a. The government of Nigeria has declared a national state of emergency emergency, as has the government of Liberia, due to the rapid spread and rising death toll of the virus. Guinea has closed all land borders with with Liberia and Sierra Leone.

According to the World Health Organization, 68 new cases were formally reported between August 5th and 6th, as well as 29 new deaths. This brings the total the total to 1,779 confirmed cases reported, 961 of whom have died. And these are just the reported numbers. During testimony before the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Ken Isaacs, vice president of program and government relations for the relief group Samaritan's Purse, indicated his organizations experts state the official epidemic case numbers from the World Health Organization represent only 25% to 50% of the true numbers.
On Monday, the Centers for Disease Control issued new guidance to airlines regarding the Ebola virus, the handling of passengers displaying symptoms and guidance for flight crews, cleaning and cargo personnel. Be advised that there is an increasing likelihood that if you display flu-like symptoms (such as a fever or chills), even if you have not traveled to West Africa or knowingly been in the presence of anyone who has, you may be prevented from boarding.

Planned Parenthood Busted Again

Planned Parenthood Busted Again

A Planned Parenthood clinic in Arizona is under investigation for falsifying records related to an abortion performed on a minor. A recently enacted state law requires doctors, other professionals and abortion facilities to report instances of alleged sexual abuse.

According to a complaint filed by our friends at Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), a mother brought her teenaged daughter to a Planned Parenthood facility in Tempe, Arizona, around the beginning of the year for an abortion. The mother told the Planned Parenthood counselor that her daughter had been assaulted, but the counselor didn't want to bother with the "hassle" of reporting a rape.

The Daily Caller reports that the alleged rapist in this case "has been charged with 27 felonies for assaulting 11 girls ranging in age from 12 to 17 years old." But had the Planned Parenthood facility followed the law and reported the abuse, several other victims might have been spared.

Don't forget that pro-abortion liberals in Congress are providing hundreds of millions of your hard-earned tax dollars to Planned Parenthood. Barack Obama and his liberal Senate allies threatened to shut down the government in order to keep federal dollars flowing to the nation's largest abortion provider. That is their top priority. That is how pro-abortion Obama and his allies are. (Gary Bauer)

Robin Williams "Accepted Jesus Christ in One of the Recovery Programs"

MOVIEGUIDE®'s Dr. Ted Baehr: Although He Still Struggled, Robin Williams "Accepted Jesus Christ in One of the Recovery Programs"

'Once, Dr. Baehr shared Jesus Christ with Robin because they both grew up with a few similar parental beliefs.'
Dr. Ted Baehr is the founder and the publisher of MOVIEGUIDE®, a family-oriented guide to movies and entertainment. He is also Chairman of the Christian Film & Television Commission® ministry.

On the MOVIEGUIDE® website, Dr. Baehr describes his life's purpose as being "used of God to redeem the values of the media while educating audiences on how to use discernment in selecting their entertainment."

Following the tragic death of actor Robin Williams, this week, Dr. Ted Baehr posted the following message on his website:
On August 11, 2014, legendary actor and comedian Robin Williams passed away at his California home. Known for his charm, Williams is most known for his many successful movies ranging from critical hits like GOOD WILL HUNTING and DEAD POETS SOCIETY to family movies ALADDIN, FLUBBER and NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM.

While the cause of death is not confirmed, it is suspected that Williams committed suicide, as he publicly struggled with drugs, alcohol and depression. His wife stated, "This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken. On behalf of Robin's family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin's death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions."

Dr. Ted Baehr met Robin several times at press junkets for movies. Once, Dr. Baehr shared Jesus Christ with Robin because they both grew up with a few similar parental beliefs. Robin had, at one point, accepted Jesus Christ in one of the recovery programs, but he was always searching and never quite finding.

He will be dearly missed by many and Movieguide® prays for his family and anyone else who struggles with drug addiction and depression.

Please note Susan's commentary on this week's study, below.
This week, I had a clear vision of God turning and rising from His throne. He was beginning to outstretch His arm against all those who do evil against Him and His people. . .

Only He knows when He will have had enough of this blasphemous arrogance against His creation and those made in His Image, and when He will bring His wrath and judgment. We pray that He will be glorified when He does move, and that we will be able to hold onto His Right Hand until He destroys the evil one and those who belong to him . . .

Today, may YHVH show His mighty power, strength and omniscience throughout the whole world and universe that He has created! In Jesus' Mighty Name, the Name that is above all others we pray. Amen.

"Go, my people, enter your rooms and shut the doors behind you; hide yourselves for a little while until his wrath has passed by." (Isaiah 26:20)

Spiritual Awakening in Colorado: the Holy Spirit Speaks
to a Christian Molecular Biologist

Anh Lee said as an atheist he was depressed, until he "radically" encountered Jesus Christ.

(Denver CO)-Ask Keith Peterson what a spiritual awakening looks like and the Colorado pastor points to a cartoon that was published on the front page of a Denver newspaper in 1905. The January 21st edition of the now-defunct Denver Republican featured an evangelist with broom in hand chasing the devil out of the Mile High City.

The cartoon comically illustrated a spiritual reality that occurred after pastors launched citywide prayer, prompting businesses to close for noon intercession and nightly house meetings in 10 districts throughout Denver, says Peterson, who leads Pastors For Revival.

For the 500 pastors and 70 churches aligned with Pastors For Revival in its desire for a spiritual awakening in Colorado, prayer continues to play a part in 2014 as it did in 1905. The pastors have encouraged circles of prayer throughout the city, conducted monthly citywide intercession, and emphasized personal revival as a condition for a large-scale awakening.

"We're traveling along the same lines as our predecessors who emphasized houses of prayer, rather than theology or teaching, because it's in prayer that we encounter the presence of God. "We want to be good hosts of His (God's) presence," says Peterson of Pastors For Revival.

The ministry website includes the front-page newspaper cartoon as well as articles on past revivals, pastors' videos and prayer events.

Peterson and Pastors For Revival knew they were on track in 2013 when Anh Le, a Vietnamese molecular biologist trained at the University of Colorado in Boulder and at German evangelist Reinhard Bonnke's Orlando, Florida-based ministry school, told them he'd heard a word from God about Colorado.

"The very day the Holy Spirit told me to hold a crusade in Denver, I could have died when an enraged pimp appeared out of nowhere with a knife as I ministered to a woman he held hostage as a victim of sex-trafficking," Le says, a Denver native.

The son of Vietnamese parents - his father a practicing Buddhist and his mother a Catholic - Le had held one small crusade in Colorado and a larger one in Africa when the Holy Spirit directed him to hold a second crusade, Revival Fest, in Denver Aug 9-10, 2014 at downtown's Civic Center Park, directly across from the state capitol.

The park is home to the nation's third-largest, gay-pride event and an annual 4/20 celebration of legal pot in the Mile High City, both held just weeks before Pastors For Revival called for a nondenominational prayer meeting at nearby Beth Abraham/ Church in the City for Awakening Colorado.

"I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people - for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth."
