The Daily Brief:

"Praying for All in Authority"

Friday, August 29, 2014

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love,
and of a sound mind."
(2 Timothy 1:7)

"And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse . . ." (Rev. 19:1)

The Daily Brief

1. Britain Now Says Terror Attack 'Highly Likely' - CNSNews

LONDON (AP) - Britain raised the terror threat level from substantial to severe Friday, meaning that a terrorist attack is considered highly likely.

Home Secretary Theresa May said the decision to raise the threat level was related to developments in Iraq and Syria, but that there was no information to suggest an attack was imminent. Some of the plots are likely to involve fighters who have traveled from Britain and Europe to take part in fighting in the Middle East.

"We face a real and serious threat in the U.K. from international terrorism," she said. "I would urge the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the police."

- Father, we speak Your protection around Britain and the United States from any, and all terrorist attacks. May all plans against us fall and come to nothing. Stop them at every turn, in Jesus Name. May all who call on Your name, rise up and pray like never before, to declare Your protection from all evil plots.

- The ruthless will vanish, the mockers will disappear, and all who have an eye for evil will be cut down (Isaiah 29:20)

2. Obama named in RICO lawsuit - WND

Attorney Larry Klayman, fresh off a preliminary court ruling that the National Security Agency's spying on Americans likely is unconstitutional, now has named President Obama and others in a racketeering complaint. Klayman, founder of Freedom Watch and a columnist for WND, alleges the president and others laundered U.S. taxpayer money that was spent on Hamas rockets fired against Israel.

The civil lawsuit, filed in federal court in Washington falls under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, or RICO, alleges criminal acts by Obama, Secretary of State John Kerry, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon.

Seeking $1.5 billion in compensatory damages as well as punitive damages, it accuses the global figures of "laundering U.S. dollars" to Hamas, which is officially designated by the U.S. government as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.

"This money has been foreseeably used to buy rockets and construct tunnels to attack Israel and terrorize and kill American and dual American-Israeli citizens who reside or are located in Israel," Klayman said in a statement.

- Father, bring to light any wrong doing on the behalf of our leadership in our government. May all truth be revealed, and the necessary actions taken to hold them accountable for their involvement in any plots against Israel or the United States.

- Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out. (Proverbs 10:9)

3. Muslim Activists Demand Overhaul of All U.S. Law Enforcement Training - Judicial Watch

Islamic activists that strong-armed the FBI to purge anti-terrorism training material considered "offensive" to Muslims have made their next wave of demands, which include an overhaul in the way all law enforcement officers are trained in the United States.

The coalition of influential and politically-connected Muslim rights groups is demanding that the Obama administration implement a mandatory retraining program for all federal, state and local law enforcement officials who may have been subjected to materials they deem "biased and discriminatory" against Muslims. There must also be an audit of all federal law enforcement and intelligence gathering training and educational materials to identify and remove information that could exhibit bias against any race, ethnicity, religion or national origin, the groups demand.

- Lord Jesus, have mercy on us! We pray the demands from these activists will fail. May our law enforcement be strengthened with wisdom and knowledge to protect citizens on all fronts.

- For the protection of wisdom is like the protection of money, and the advantage of knowledge is that wisdom preserves the life of him who has it. (Ecclesiastes 7:12)

4. DOJ To Give Money From Bank Of America Settlement To Liberal Activist Groups - Judicial Watch

Judicial Watch reports that the Department of Justice is giving liberal activist groups money from a $16.6 billion settlement with Bank of America. The groups benefitting from the lawsuit, according to Investor's Business Daily, are the National Council of La Raza, Operation Hope, National Community Reinvestment Coalition, and Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America. The money also went to "delinquent borrowers" in Chicago, Oakland, Detroit, Philadelphia, and other major "Democrat strongholds."

"This is a wealth redistribution scheme disguised as a lawsuit," Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, told The Daily Caller. "And who benefits from the distribution? Interest groups the administration relies on, outside interest groups, allies and politicians in communities trying to benefit as well."

- Father, we are outraged at this report. We cry out for a justice department and government leadership who make a commitment to the rule of law rather than using their power to extort and benefit more government and their political allies. Move across our current leadership and stop all lies and extortion, in Jesus Name.

- You destroy those who tell lies; bloodthirsty and deceitful men the LORD abhors. (Psalm 5:6)

5. Census figures show more than one-third of Americans receiving welfare benefits - Fox News

Fifty years after the "war on poverty" was first waged, there are signs a new offensive is needed. Newly released Census data reveals nearly 110 million Americans - more than one-third of the country - are receiving government assistance of some kind.

The number counts people receiving what are known as "means-tested" federal benefits, or subsidies based on income. This includes welfare programs ranging from food stamps to subsidized housing to the program most commonly referred to as "welfare," Temporary Assistance for Needy Families.

At the end of 2012, according to the stats, 51.5 million were on food stamps, while 83 million were collecting Medicaid - with some benefitting from multiple programs. Though the programs were created to help those in need, some analysts worry that the way they're designed is, increasingly, incentivizing people not to work. They note that when recipients combine several government assistance programs, in many cases they pay better than going to work.

- Lord, help us as a nation! Those who have jobs cannot continue to support the rising numbers on government assistance for an extended length of time. Lord, give us a plan on continuing to help those who honestly need the assistance from those who have been incentivized not to work.

- And to aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you, so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one. (1 Thessalonians 4:11-12)

6. Central California residents rely on bottled water as wells run dry- LA Times

Extreme drought conditions have become so harsh for the Central Valley community of East Porterville, many of its residents dependent on their own wells have run out of water.

Roughly 300 homes have received a three-week supply of bottled water after Tulare County officials discovered their wells had gone dry.

- Lord we pray rain and water for the people of this region. As you provided water for Your people in the desert, we pray that You will provide water for these people.

- "Ask you of the Lord in the time of the latter rain; so the Lord shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to everyone grass in the field. (Zechariah 10:1)

7. Google building fleet of package-delivering drones - AP

Google's secretive research laboratory is trying to build a fleet of drones designed to bypass earthbound traffic so packages can be delivered to people more quickly. The ambitious program announced Thursday escalates Google's technological arms race with rival Amazon.com Inc., which also is experimenting with self-flying vehicles to carry merchandise bought by customers of its online store.

"Self-flying vehicles could open up entirely new approaches to moving goods, including options that are cheaper, faster, less wasteful and more environmentally sensitive than what's possible today," Google said in a pamphlet outlining Project Wing.

Google, though, seems to see its drones as something more than another step in e-commerce delivery. The aerial vehicles also could make it easier for people to share certain items, such as a power drill, that they may only need periodically and carry emergency supplies to areas damaged by earthquakes, hurricanes and other natural catastrophes, according to Google's Project Wing pamphlet.

- Father, while we thank You for increased technology, we pray protection from the technology being used in wrong and deceitful ways. What starts as innocent and helpful to humanity can sometimes result in harmful uses of the technology. Keep this technology safe and sound from those who would distort it.

- But you, Daniel, shut up the words and seal the book, until the time of the end. Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase." (Daniel 12:4)

8. BREAKING - Alarms sound over 'imminent' attacks on U.S.
- Judicial Watch; WND

Report: Feds, law enforcement scrambling to stop ISIS carnage on border

WASHINGTON - The U.S. government is warning that a terrorist attack is imminent on the border between Texas and Mexico, according to the government watchdog group Judicial Watch.

The group said sources have told it the Mideast terrorist army ISIS is now operating in the Mexican city of Ciudad Juarez, the narcotics-trafficking center located just across the border from El Paso, Texas, and it is planning to attack the U.S. with car bombs or improvised explosive devices carried by vehicles.vel federal law enforcement, intelligence, and other sources have confirmed that a warning bulletin for an imminent terrorist attack on the border was issued, and that agents for the Departments of Defense, Justice and Homeland Security have been put on alert and told to aggressively work all sources and potential leads.

One source told Judicial Watch intelligence officials "picked up radio talk and chatter" pointing to an attack on the border.

The source said both ISIS and al-Qaida were planning plots, and told Judicial Watch an attack "is coming very soon." (Read full article below)
- Lord God, as we continue to repent of our sin as a nation before Your Throne of Grace, we freely admit that we are now helpless before this great horde that is heading across our border. We turn to You in this hour, Mighty One, for only You can bring the protection we will now need to defend ourselves against the enemy at the gate. Help us, Lord, we pray . . . rescue us, Lord, we pray. In Your name, the Name of Jesus, we pray, amen.

- "In the secret place of His tent He will hide me; He will lift me up on a rock.
And now my head will be lifted up above my enemies around me,
And I will offer in His tent sacrifices [f]with shouts of joy; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord."
(Psalm 27:5,6)

9. Found: The Islamic State's Terror Laptop Of Doom - Foreign Policy.com

Buried in a Dell computer captured in Syria are lessons for making bubonic plague bombs and missives on using weapons of mass destruction. The ISIS laptop contains a 19-page document in Arabic on how to develop biological weapons and how to weaponize the bubonic plague from infected animals.

"Use small grenades with the virus, and throw them in closed areas like metros, soccer stadiums, or entertainment centers," the 19-page document on biological weapons advises. "Best to do it next to the air-conditioning. It also can be used during suicide operations." (Read more)
- Father God, we thank You for causing "hidden things to be revealed" at the discovery of this laptop and its terrifying contents. We thank You, too, that tonight, even CNN was reporting on this news. We ask, Lord, that Your people would immediately RISE UP in the strength we have in You, whenever we begin to hear any news that would normally frighten us, and that instead, we respond in faith, knowing that You are well able to protect Your own. Help us, O Lord, we pray, in Jesus' name, amen.

- "Wait for the Lord; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the Lord." (Psalm 27:14)

10. Don't mess with Russia, Putin warns - CNN

We're a 'powerful nuclear nation'

After saying he doesn't want any "large-scale conflicts," the Russian President noted that Russia is "strengthening our nuclear deterrence forces." (Read more)
- Father God, as the sabre-rattling coming from Russia continues to increase, we ask for Your Hand to quell this menace. Lord, we understand that Russia, too, is afraid of ISIS, and that they are trying to take over Ukraine to create a "buffer state" to stand between them and this danger. We call forth only Your plans for both Russia and Ukraine in the days ahead, for You are the King of the nations. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

- "Who should not fear you, King of the nations? This is your due. Among all the wise leaders of the nations and in all their kingdoms, there is no one like you." (Jer. 10:7)

1. Hamas leader Mashaal says latest Gaza conflict with Israel not the last - Jerusalem Post

Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal said on Thursday the latest war between Israel and Hamas would not be the last round of conflict between the two, but a "milestone to reaching our objective." "This is not the end. This is just a milestone to reaching our objective, we know that Israel is strong and is aided by the international community. We will not restrict our dreams or make compromises to our demands," Mashaal said at a news conference in the Qatari capital, Doha. (Read more)

2.IDF on high alert in Golan Heights -The Times of Israel

As a result of the fighting on the Syrian side of the Golan Heights, the level of alert was raised on the Israeli side, an army spokesperson said Thursday, without confirming that it had been increased to the highest level.

The announcement followed several incidents in the area, including the capture and execution of 160 Syrian soldiers by the Islamic State, gruesome pictures of which appeared online Thursday, and the abduction, also Thursday, of 43 Fijian UN peacekeepers by al-Qaeda-affiliate al-Nusra Front at the Quneitra crossing with Israel, where fighting has raged this week between Syrian rebels and government forces. 3. A fateful time ahead for Netanyahu's divided government -The Times of Israel

Will Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's coalition survive the blowback from what many Israelis see as an ambiguous and unsatisfactory outcome to the Gaza war? The devil, as always, is in the details.

There are two political dangers ahead for Netanyahu's government: the immediate fallout from dissatisfaction over the end of the Gaza fighting, and the looming crisis of the budget debate set to begin in mid-September. (Read more)

4. US missiles to be released 'soon' - whatever the Hellfire that means - The times of Israel

Exactly how bad are Israel-US relations today? Who the Hellfire knows.

What is clear is that two weeks after the revelation that the US had added an additional level of scrutiny to resupplying the IDF with weapons, business was anything but usual regarding the military-to-military relationship upon which Israel relies.

The administration in Washington is hunkered down tight on the transfer of Hellfire missiles to the IDF - a transfer that would most likely have been routine until the additional level of scrutiny was applied. And, despite optimism that the transfer would soon go ahead as planned, no such action has been confirmed by Washington. (Read more)

5. Facing Islamist threats, some Arab nations tilt toward Israel -The Times of Israel

Between the war in Gaza and gains by Islamic militants in Iraq, Syria and Libya, there's plenty of cause these days for pessimism about the Middle East.

But amid all the fighting, there's also some good news for Israel.

If it wasn't obvious before, the conflagrations have driven home just how much the old paradigms of the Middle East have faded in an era when the threat of Islamic extremists has become the overarching concern in the Arab world. In this fight against Islamic militancy, many Arab governments find themselves on the same side as Israel. (Read more)

6. PA to tell UN: Force Israel out of W. Bank, or we'll seek war crimes charges in The Hague - Jerusalem Post

Abbas announced recently that he was planning a "diplomatic and political surprise" that would make the US unhappy.

The PLO will submit an application to the UN Security Council next month demanding a timetable for an Israeli withdrawal to the pre-1967 lines, a senior Fatah official announced on Thursday. (Read more)

President: No plan, no strategy for Islamic State

Other than to protect all the Americans in our embassy and consulates in Iraq, the occupant of the Oval Office Thursday admitted that he has neither a plan nor a strategy for countering the ruthless violence and slaughter of men, women and children (including Christians) in Syria or Iraq. He told reporters at the White House: "We don't have a strategy yet...We need to make sure that we've got clear plans, that we're developing them...But there's no point in me asking for action on the part of Congress before I know exactly what it is that is going to be required for us to get the job done." What president in modern history did not have a strategy and plan for the Middle East? Or is it one, he cannot reveal?

WorldNetDaily reports that highly-credentialed former CIA operative Clare Lopez knows his strategy and plan--She told WND that the "president" who has appointed Muslim Brotherhood operatives to high places in the US government, has changed sides in the war on terror. Lopez says the traditional US policy was to stay free of Shariah law, but this "president," through his support of Arab Spring, assisted the Muslim Brotherhood in its goal to oust secular Muslim leaders who did not enforce Shariah law. WND reports that Lopez echoes "what a few members of Congress have confided to WND in private, but declined to say on the record."

The "president" spent about a half an hour Thursday rambling on and on about the Islamic State and Russia's invasion of Ukraine. No other president since Jimmy Carter has appeared so confused, disheveled and inept regarding foreign policy. He openly admitted that his administration had no plan and no strategy. He said that there can be no effective military assistance forthcoming from the US against IS, which he calls ISIL, until the Iraqi government is stabilized and can participate in defending itself. He said that Sunni Muslims must have confidence in the Iraqi government. All this will take long amounts of time as IS continues to advance and leave the slaughtered in its wake.

Herein, is the strategy and plan by the White House and its Islamic-supporting occupant: Appear to the American people as if the US is developing a strategy and plan to deal with IS, protect Americans in Iraq when possible to give credence to the concern for American lives, while IS and its Shariah Law fascists use the time to advance. This "president" has assisted Islam at every step of its Shariah agenda. He continues to do so now by saying that the Iraq government must stabilize and that it will take time for him to develop a regional strategy for the Middle East. Without saying it, he has revealed his plan and strategy. Jesus said in Matthew 24:4, "Take heed that no man deceive you." Deception defines this "president."

ISIS Attack on U.S. Soil May Be "Imminent"

Alarms sound over 'imminent' attacks on U.S.

The source said both ISIS and al-Qaida were planning plots, and told Judicial Watch an attack "is coming very soon."

Another source told the group the attack is so imminent the commanding general at the U.S. Army's Ft. Bliss in El Paso is being briefed.

A Texas law enforcement bulletin sent out this week reportedly shows ISIS is keenly aware of the porous border in the area, and social media chatter shows it has expressed "an increased interest" in crossing the border to conduct an attack.

The three-page bulletin, obtained by Fox, was titled "ISIS Interest on the US Southwest Border" and distributed to law enforcement Thursday.

That seems to coincide with what WND reported three days ago, that the FBI and Department of Homeland Security were so worried that airstrikes in Iraq could cause ISIS to retaliate in American, the agencies sent warnings to local law enforcement officials.

Friday's reported threat from ISIS comes the day after WND reported President Obama acknowledged he has no strategy to deal with the terrorist army.

The threat also comes as Britain has raised its terror-threat level to "severe" as the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks nears.

A White House spokesman said today the U.S. has no plans to raise the threat level in this country.

However, U.S. intelligence sources told WND just last week that ISIS was training jihadis to attack targets in the United States.

Also last week, Sen. Jim Inhofe warned ISIS is "rapidly developing a method of blowing up a major U.S. city." The ranking Republican on the Armed Services Committee in the U.S. Senate said the U.S. now is in "the most dangerous position we've ever been in." And, as WND also reported last week, Gov. Rick Perry, R-Texas, warned terrorists from the Islamic State could be sneaking into Texas across the Southwest border at any time, due to the Obama administration's failures in Iraq and in securing the border.

Pentagon press secretary, Navy Rear Adm. John Kirby, immediately denied any evidence of Perry's claims. "I've seen no indication that they are coming across the border with Mexico. We have no information that leads us to believe that. That said, we do know they have aspirations to hit Western targets and that we've got to take that seriously and have to try to be ready for it," Kirby told CNN.

Mexican officials also quickly rejected the governor's warnings.

"Mexican authorities have no record of the presence of Islamist extremist groups or individuals in Mexico," said Ariel Moutsatsos, minister for public affairs at the embassy in Washington. "We take all possible measures to impede any terrorist activity in our territory."

Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, joined Perry to warn Americans about terror threats from the largely unsecured U.S.-Mexico border.

"The FBI director previously said . . . that there were people from terrorist countries who were assuming Hispanic names, and learning a few words of Spanish, and coming in," Gohmert said. "The FBI director himself testified to that before Congress. So we know that this kind of thing has been going on. Governor Perry isn't saying anything that's new, it just takes a little while for the mainstream to catch up."

The congressman added that more recently, Marine General John Kelly, the commander of South Command, testified before the House and Senate this year "that the penetration of our Southern border by criminal cartels, as well as terrorist organizations, poses, in his words, an 'existential threat the United States.'" The Good News Corner:

Jewish Family Rescued by Palestinians during Terror Attack

Sometimes miracles are simply people helping others in the right time and place.

A Jewish couple, Yedaya and Hadassah Sharchaton, together with their baby daughter, were driving from Jerusalem to their home in Yatir, a town south of Hebron on Sunday morning shortly after midnight.

While driving through the Arab village of Beit Umar in Judea they came under attack by Palestinian terrorists from the village. The terrorists began hurling rocks at them, in an attempt to kill the passengers and derail the car. The Sharchaton's were surprised when other Palestinian residents of the village came to their aid.

One of the rocks, the size of a melon, broke through the windshield and hit Yedaya in the face as he drove. He lost control of the car that had veered sideways and hit the safety barrier. The car proceeded to flip over and land in a ditch on the side of the road.

Palestinian passersby came to their aid.

In an interview with Ynet, Hadassah recounted the frightful memories of the attack: "We came home from spending Shabbat with Yedaya's parents, when all of a sudden I heard a loud boom, and we were hit with shards of glass. The car flipped over. I was screaming like a madwoman until we landed on the roof, and then it became quiet. Nitzan (our daughter) was crying. I asked Yedaya if he was okay, but he was confused and wasn't making sense."

Palestinians who came to their aid reassured her that they were there to help. Hadassah asked them to help the baby first, and following her instructions they were able to extricate Nitzan in a way that would prevent further harm.

AURORAS EXPLODE THROUGH ARCTIC TWILIGHT

"After a long summer without stars, the Northern Lights have finally returned," reports Fredrik Broms of Tromsø, Norway (70 deg N latitude). "Last night's display was so strong that, although constellations such as Cassiopeia are still only to be made out very faintly on the blue night sky, the auroras shimmered and danced in an explosion of colors!"

The twilight display was sparked by a pair of CME impacts on August 27th. As Earth passed through the wake of the storm clouds, the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) around Earth tipped south. This opened a crack in our planet's magnetosphere; solar wind poured in to fuel a light show that lasted for nearly three days and nights.

NOAA forecasters estimate a 20% chance of polar geomagnetic storms on Aug. 29th as CME effects wane. Arctic sky watchers should remain alert for green in the twilight. (Spaceweather.com)

"And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."
