The Daily Brief:

"Praying for All in Authority"

Thursday, August 7, 2014

"You will not be afraid of the terror by night,
Or of the arrow that flies by day;
Of the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
Or of the destruction that lays waste at noon."

(Psalm 91:5,6)

"I will uphold you with my righteous right hand" (Isa. 41:10)

The Daily Brief

1. Liberal newspaper Warns Obama: don't tear up the Constitution with executive action on immigration - The Blaze

The Washington Post editorial board, a generally reliably liberal voice, strongly warned President Barack Obama against taking executive action on immigration, saying congressional paralysis doesn't mean he can "tear up the Constitution."

The Post's editorial said it's up to the legislative branch to fix the matter of thousands of unaccompanied minors crossing the U.S. southern border, as reports have surfaced that Obama is prepared to take executive action regarding the border while Congress is on recess.

- Father, we also ask that You prevent this president from further destruction of the Constitution, and that all of our rights be completely restored.

-"If, when evil comes upon us, as the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand before this House, and in Your Presence,(for Your Name is in this House) and cry to You in our affliction, then You will hear and help." (II Chronicles 20:9)

2. Hawaii braces as Iselle to give Hawaii first hurricane in 22 years - Fox News

Iselle was supposed to weaken as it slowly trudged west across the Pacific. It didn't -- and now Hawaii is poised to take its first direct hurricane hit in 22 years.

Tracking close behind it was Hurricane Julio, which strengthened early Thursday into a Category 2 storm.

- Lord, we take authority over this storm and command it to disperse in the Mighty Name of Jesus and by the power of His Blood.

-"Behold I you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall by any means hurt you." (Luke 10:19)

3. Russia Signs Historic $20 Billion Deal with Iran to Bypass Sanctions - The Telegraph

Russia has agreed a five-year, $20 billion, trade deal with Iran that will help the Islamic republic to sidestep Western sanctions on its energy sector.

- Lord, we are painfully aware that Russia and Iran are able to circumvent any actions by a weakened US. With all our hearts we pray for Your protection and power to prevail against the plans of the enemy.

-"You that love the Lord, hate evil; He preserves the souls of His saints; He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked." (Psalm 97:10)

4. Gay Marriage Bans Tested in Four States

The U.S. Court of Appeals will hear six lawsuits seeking to strike down marriage amendments in four states: Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. The states have passed amendments approved by its voters that defines marriage as being between a man and a woman.

- Lord, we are seeing a flood of sin covering our nation. We pray that these laws showing marriage between a man and a woman will stand.

-"The house of the wicked shall be overthrown; but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish." (Proverbs 14:11)

5. Millions of Uninsured Americans Exempt from ObamaCare Penalities

A new congressional report has estimated that more than 25 million Americans without health insurance will not be made to pay a penalty in 2016 due to an exploding number of ObamaCare exemptions.

- Father, we ask for You to continue to pull apart Obamacare until nothing remains of this socialist nightmare.

- "When the wicked are multiplied, transgressions increase; but the righteous shall see their fall." (Proverbs 29:16)

6. Obama to Sign $16.3 Billion Veterans Spending Bill

President Barack Obama will travel to a military facility outside Washington on Thursday to sign a $16.3 billion plan to ease health care delays at Veterans Affairs facilities as he seeks to restore confidence in an agency tarnished by the problem.

- Lord, we do not know if throwing money at the VA will fix the problem, but we are certain that an adjustment needs to be made in practice and attitude. We pray for a move of Your Holy Spirit throughout that agency from top to bottom.

-"Blessed be the Lord, because He has heard the voice of my supplications." (Psalm 28:6)

7. The disrupter is at it again: Kerry calls for fresh Middle East peace talks as Cairo mediation gets under way - Fox News

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has called on Israeli and Palestinian leaders to use the ongoing 72-hour truce that halted fighting in the Gaza Strip as a stepping-stone to restart more far-reaching negotiations.

Speaking to the BBC, Kerry said that both sides needed to make a "bigger, broader approach to the underlying solution of two states," adding, "I believe that the situation now that has evolved will concentrate people's minds on the need to get back to the negotiations and try and resolve the issues."

Kerry spoke on the second day of the truce, which came into effect Tuesday morning and was precipitated by Israel's withdrawal of all ground forces from Gaza. Israeli troops had begun their ground offensive July 17, nine days after the commencement of airstrikes against Hamas rocket sites as part of Operation Protective Edge. Israel said it had destroyed 32 cross-border tunnels used by Hamas to attack Israeli soldiers and civilians.(Read more)

- It is totally amazing that this administration continues to refuse to acknowledge that any negotiations with Hamas is a lost cause. Their avowed mission is to destroy Israel -- not a great platform to negotiate a peace. We pray that the blinders will come off of the eyes of our leaders, and that they will allow Israel to deal with its enemies, on its own terms. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

- "The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty." (Proverbs 22:3)

1. Israel Agrees to Extend Ceasefire; Hamas Vows to Renew Fighting - Ynet News

Israel has reportedly agreed to extend the current ceasefire in Gaza Strip Wednesday as indirect Israel-Palestinian negotiations over extending a truce in Gaza got underway in Cairo. However, Hamas was quick to deny the reports, saying it will renew fire at Israel as soon as the current lull has ended, Ynet News reported. Meanwhile, EU powers proposed Gaza rehabilitation in exchange for disarmament. (Read more)

2. EU Proposes Gaza Reconstruction in Exchange for Hamas Disarmament - Haaretz.com

Germany, France and Britain presented Israel with an initiative to rehabilitate the Gaza Strip, subject to an international supervision apparatus that will prevent the rearmament of Hamas and other terror groups in the Strip.

The proposal by the three European states is an answer to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's demand for the disarmament of Hamas during the fighting in Gaza.

The ambassadors of Germany and France and the deputy ambassador of Britain, who met with National Security Adviser Yossi Cohen in Jerusalem on Wednesday, gave him a two-page document of principles for international agreement about the Gaza Strip. Earlier the three had a similar meeting with senior Foreign Ministry officials. (Read more)

1. President of Liberia Announces "State of Emergency" for 90 Days - Fox News

Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has declared a state of emergency for 90 days because of the deadly outbreak, her office announced Wednesday. "The scope and scale of the epidemic, the virulence and deadliness of the virus now exceed the capacity and statutory responsibility of any one government agency or ministry," she said in a written statement. "The government and people of Liberia require extraordinary measures for the very survival of our state and for the protection of the lives of our people." She said Ebola is a "clear and present danger." (Read more)

2. Man tested for Ebola at NYC hospital does not have disease - Fox News

A man tested for Ebola at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York does not have the disease, the hospital said Wednesday afternoon. The man, who was kept in isolation since he was admitted Monday with a high fever and gastrointestinal symptoms, is in stable condition and is improving, the hospital said in a statement. 3. Seattle: Ebola Outbreak Changes Hospital Protocol - KIROTV. com

The Ebola outbreak has nurses at Seattle's Harborview Medical Center now asking patients with fevers where they've traveled. So far none have answered West Africa, but the question at triage reflects how the outbreak is changing infectious disease protocol around the world. "Over a month ago we would have been laughing (at the idea of) Ebola coming in with patients at Harborview, but now we take it very seriously," said Dr. John Lynch, Harborview's Medical Director of Infection Control. 4. CDC Refuses to Identify Where Previous Ebola Tests Originated - Breitbart

Tuesday evening the CDC confirmed to Breitbart News that six individuals in the United States had been tested for Ebola. Those tests came back negative, but the CDC would not identify the states where they originated.

CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta reported Tuesday that half a dozen people had been tested for Ebola. It was not clear whether a patient who walked into Mount Sinai Hospital in New York Monday with "high fever and gastrointestinal problems" was one of those six or in addition to the six.

Tuesday afternoon, Breitbart News contacted the CDC with two questions. First, in which states were the six people who had been tested located? Second, had the tests come back and what were the results? The CDC's Director of Public Affairs sent a brief response which answered the second question but sidestepped the first. "The six previous tests were all negative and sporadic in time and place. Mount Sinai test still pending testing at CDC" he wrote. From this answer it appears the pending test is the 7th so far. The pending test is expected back tomorrow. At present that individual--who has recently traveled to West Africa where the current outbreak is taking place--is said to be under "strict isolation." 5. Researchers find potential treatments for future Ebola outbreaks - Fox News

The Ebola virus is able to turn off the body's natural immune response. But researchers at Auburn University believe they've developed an "on-switch." Simply known by its lab identification number, WY3161 is a relatively small molecule. The compound appears to reverse the immune-blocking effects of certain viruses, including Ebola, when tested on cells from green monkeys.

"In the future, what we learn from how viruses turn off the immune system is going to open up these other 10 or 12 categories of viruses," said Stewart Schneller, the Auburn chemistry professor leading the study. "There may be leads there." (Read more)

The Daily Jot

As Dictators go

The occupant of the Oval Office told reporters Wednesday that "the American people don't want me just standing around twiddling my thumbs and waiting for Congress to get something done" He blamed Congress for not acting on immigration reform, not passing a "large infrastructure proposal," college loans, and women getting paid the same as men for the same job. He blamed Republicans specifically. This "president" is pulling a massive shell game on the citizens of America by creating crisis, such as the border invasion by illegals, and then blaming Congress for the problem. He has refused to uphold the laws that are counter to his agenda, prompting even liberal reporters to label him an "imperial president."

The answer was in response to a question by ABC's Jon Karl: "When you were running for President, you said, "The biggest problems we're facing right now have to do with George Bush trying to bring more and more power into the executive branch and not go through Congress at all. And that's what I intend to reverse." So my question to you--has Congress's inability to do anything significant given you a green light to push the limits of executive power, even a duty to do so? Or put another way--does it bother you more to be accused of being an imperial President, pushing those limits, or to be accused of being a do-nothing President who couldn't get anything done because he faced a dysfunctional Congress?"
According to the Federal Register, the "president" has issued 183 executive orders since 2009, with two more years remaining. This compares with 290 by George W Bush; 363 by Bill Clinton; 165 by George HW Bush; 380 by Ronald Reagan; and 319 by Jimmy Carter. Many use this as a barometer to point out the use of Executive Authority being dictated by a president. It is not, however, the number of the EOs that a president issues, it is the type and the authority they write into them. In addition to the many EOs that this "president" has issued that invade privacy and Constitutional rights of citizens and corporations, he has also refused to enforce voting laws, border security, marriage laws, etc.

The Washington Post pointed out in a July 10 article that the "president" used EOs to halt deportation of illegals who haven't committed a crime (hmmm); emissions cuts by power plants; 23 EOs on gun control; and extend the rights for same-sex couples. Blaming Congress for inaction as an excuse to increase presidential authority is a dictatorial theology. The Constitution separates the powers of government for a reason. If Congress is not acting, there are reservations and the "president" needs to respect that and work through it, not become a dictator. But that seems to be the direction of recent history. Galatians 5:1 says, "Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." This is good advice for both spirit and body, AND citizens of a government.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

IRAQ PRAYER ALERT

Urgent International Prayer Alert for Brothers and Sisters in Christ
in Jeopardy in Iraq

PLEASE SEND THIS REPORT ON TO OTHERS WHO WILL PRAY. THANK YOU.

Brothers and Sisters,

Please continue to pray strongly and earnestly for Iraq and the protection of the nation against the ISIS killers there. Many brothers and sisters in Christ are still in grave jeopardy. Just received this urgent request for prayer and other help from a dear friend who hosted the prayer initiative in Baghdad in June.

John Robb
IPC Chairman

> > > A note from CHPP:

At this hour, the KURDS are fighting ISIS in Iraq. We posted three headlines, with prayers and decrees, over this issue on our Brief last night. We encourage all of our readers to also avail themselves of this resource for prayer, today, too on behalf of our brothers and sisters in this zone of danger. Thank you.

Dear in Christ Jesus,

Greetings in Jesus' name. The situation for the Christians has deteriorated badly within the last 36 hours, as ISIS has overtaken new areas:

1. Sinjar ( Northwest of Mosul) and around 30,000 + have been scattered around and on the mountains fleeing for their lives.

2. Telkeif; Batnai; Tel Esquff ( I.e. Bishops Hill); Bartella; Qara-quash; Al Gure; Ba'ashiqa; Bahzani.

Apart from Sinjar, which is mixed of minorities, all the above mentioned cities are mainly Christians. The ISIS has attacked churches and raised their flags on churches; and call upon their gods inside our churches. There was a massive exile yesterday and all night as the Kurdish army have left their positions and fled for their lives, thence people walked out leaving everything, even l mean every thing behind, just fleeing for their lives.
I was on the phone all night with brothers and sisters trying to help them find some sort of shelter as Erbil and Duhok were over occupied. Families covered streets; schools and parks. All churches' grounds have been occupied with families. It's a symbol of the abomination surfaced and emerged recently in this land. In Sinjar, they kidnapped young girls and women and sold them as slaves. Kids and seniors died of thirst and hunger on the mountains.
We have called for urgent fasting and prayers. I believe it's a spiritual warfare more than a ground battle. During my personal prayer and the intercessory group's prayers, I found it's the old days monster, the old serpent, filled with hate and poison.

I trust the Almighty for a Divine intervention, yet we need an urgent move of the Holy Spirit to turn the scales and balance of the situation on the ground.

We need all sorts of help:

1. We need you pressing on your government and authorities to step forward and get involved.

2. We need NGOs to mobilize their gears and move into the country to save lives and treat the injuries.

3. We need supports to provide: food; medications; shelters; clean water; baby milk, etc.

4. Your prayers and intercession will make a big difference. May the almighty bless richly always, Amen. Thank you

Sincerely Yours,

Pastor Farouk
Senior Minister/ Baghdad- Iraq

Honoring General Green

In Honor of Major General Harold Green

Pastor Carolyn Sissom

August 7, 2014

This morning I watched as the casket of Major General Harold Green arrived at Dover Air-force Base and the body was transferred to a truck. When the officer closed the door of the truck, there was a visible cloud of glory following the casket. As the officer closed the doors, the cloud of glory remained visible until the second door was shut.

If we compare the honor the Netherland government gave to their citizens of Malaysia flight 17, and the reception our government gave to an assassinated general, it is heart breaking. Yet the God of Glory showed up to escort his body. I saw the Glory Cloud!

As Americans, we are hurt, angry, even outraged at the weakness of the Obama Administration. We can cry and repent for this nation. Certainly that is needful!

However, I am persuaded, the Lord God who holds the heart of kings in his hand, has caused Obama and the leaders of the administration to be impotent. As Obama cowers and retreats in the face of world aggression, I believe we will see the Lord revealing Himself resulting in Israel rising up as the one anointed to lead in this escalating world war. The Lord God is the one who gives power to leaders. Obama is not anointed, nor does he have the empowerment of Heaven to lead.

As the Lord is gathering all things unto himself, man will not usurp the Glory of the King of Kings and the Commander and Chief of the Armies of Heaven.

Last night at prayer, I saw a "mystery" leader arising in the Middle-East between the north/east boundary of Iraq and the north/west boundary of Iran . This leader, whether a man or a power-group, is in alignment with Putin. His agenda is to take over the Hashemite Kingdom of the Muslim world and what is known at the Levant region which includes Israel. His arm extends into Gaza and Syria. When he is strong enough and has amassed his army using the Muslim Brotherhood (financed by the U.S.A.), he will then push back against Putin.

Obama has been rendered impotent by the Lord God Almighty!

What is the position of the church in this hour? Let us ride with Jesus and the armies of heaven as He gathers all things unto himself. In the face of persecution and tribulation, the people of the earth will cry out to God for a deliverer. Many false-christs, false prophets and false teachers will arise. Surely the Lord will endow the church with power that we may bring in the Harvest and the separation of the sheep nations and goat nations will become evident.

Arise and shine Church----do not operate in fear, but in faith.

In the story of Samson, 3000 of his cowardly countrymen went to him and asked him to surrender to the Philistines because they were afraid. Let us not be among those 3000 on the day we stand before Christ. Samson was the deliverer raised up, anointed and endowed with power to deliver the people of God. Jesus Christ is our deliverer, let us be found standing with Him.

The Good News Corner:

Women Ordered To Stop Praying Inside Mall... in AMERICA?!

"The security guard came running toward us and said, 'You are not allowed to pray at the mall. That's against the policy.'"

Dublin girls(Georgia)-It's not uncommon for shopping malls to have rules of conduct. Some places ban saggy pants. Others won't let you ask people for money. But a mall in Georgia may have one of the most unusual rules-they won't let shoppers pray-not even over their meals.

Meet Tammy Brantley of Dublin, GA. She's a wife, a mom and an avid power walker. She's also a person of deep faith in God.

Tammy is the co-founder of "Dublin Girls Run," a group of local ladies that combines Southern fellowship with physical fitness.

The Dublin Girls hope to one day return to the mall-but only if management lifts the prayer ban.

The Dublin Girls have developed quite a reputation around southeast Georgia. They've run road races dressed up like Chick-fil-A cows and superheroes. And it's not all that unusual to see the ladies accessorizing their running attire with tutus and feather boas.

But the Dublin Girls Run is not just about pounding the pavement.

"The group was started to be healthy and to be spiritually healthy, too," Tammy told me. "I like to start off my runs with a prayer and end it with a prayer."

Tammy had no idea her passion for prayer would lead to trouble.

A few weeks ago the Dublin Girls had gathered inside the local mall for an evening power walk. They formed a small circle and as they had done many times before, they bowed their heads to petition the Almighty.

Comet Siding Spring: October 19, 2014

Near Miss With Mars!

This comet sneaked up on us because it was coming in from underneath the plane of Earth's orbit!

Luckily, asteroid and comet hunter Robert H. McNaught spotted it with the constellation Lepus in the star background.

At the time of its discovery, Comet Siding Spring was farther from the Sun than Jupiter - about 7.2 times farther away from the Sun than Earth. McNaught achieved this triumph on January 3, 2013, using the .05-meter (20-inch) Uppsala Schmidt Telescope, at Siding Spring Observatory in New South Wales, Australia.

(Source: NASA) Read more and examine charts of this comet's orbit here.

"And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."

There my home shall be eternal.
