The Daily Brief

1. BENGHAZI: Names of 'whistle-blower' witnesses revealed - Fox News

Their identities have been a well-guarded secret, known only to their high-powered lawyers and a handful of House lawmakers and staff. But now Fox News has learned the names of the self-described Benghazi "whistle-blowers" who are set to testify before a widely anticipated congressional hearing on Wednesday.

- Offer praise that these whistle-blowers did do their job today in Congress and pray that the Lord would move upon the hearts of these members of Congress (and the Senate) to take appropriate strong measures in response. Continue to intercede for the protection of ALL of these witnesses, their family members, staff, and close personal friends. In His Name, amen!

- "For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone." (Psalm 91:11,12)

2. Guantanamo camp burns through $900,000 a year per inmate
- Reuters

It's been dubbed the most expensive prison on Earth and President Barack Obama cited the cost this week as one of many reasons to shut down the detention center at Guantanamo Bay, which burns through some $900,000 per prisoner annually.
- More waste; more foolishness with the use of our tax money. The answer to this one is NOT to move them into a prison inland, but to stop pampering them where they are! We all know there is a much better way to care for these al-AQaeda terrorists while they are incarcerated. Ask our Lord to reveal His strategies in this case to those who have authority to make these decisions. Pray!

- "In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on people as they slumber in their beds, Then He opens the ears of men, And seals their instruction." (Job 33;15,16)

3. Feds: 10 of 15 worst countries for religious intolerance are Muslim - Washington Times

The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom has revealed that 10 of the 15 "worst violators of religious freedom" in the world are Muslim nations.
- With all due respect, why are we not surprised at this report? Offer praise that our federal government seems (in part) to no longer hiding the dangers of Islam under a bushel, but is reporting TRUTH in these statistics! Pray that many, many Americans -- and especially those in the media -- hear of this report and take note. Then let each of us take note of the Moslems who are in our midst; may we each pray for an "open door" in the Spirit so that we might preach Jesus to them, while there is yet time. Amen.

- "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." (John 8:32)

4. New Gonorrhoea Strain 'Worse Than Aids' - Sky News

A new antibiotic-resistant form of gonorrhea could be 'worse than Aids', according to some US doctors.
- Pray for those who are seeking the cure or prevention for this disease. Pray for a breakthrough. Pray!

- "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." (Matthew 7:7)

5. Iran: Quake rattles region near nuke reactor - USA Today

Iran says a moderate earthquake rattled a region near the country's main nuclear reactor, but there were no reports of damage or deaths in the surrounding area.

- Thank the Lord for causing so little damage here, even in the midst of our enemy camp. His nature is to love and to forgive; pray that this "shaking" would serve as an "awakening" to the citizens involved that they must look to the King of Kings for help in time of need. Their own god, allah, is a lie and has no power to help them. Pray!

- "At one moment I might speak concerning a nation or concerning a kingdom to uproot, to pull down, or to destroy it; if that nation against which I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent concerning the calamity I planned to bring on it." (Jer. 18:7,8)

2. IDF on war alert. Iran-Syrian-Hizballah war of attrition threatened. US set to act on Syria - DEBKA

Israel's two air force strikes on Syria in three days - the second targeting the emblems of Assad rule overlooking Damascus from Mt. Qassioun - appear to be part of a tactical plan put together by the US Israel, and two Sunni powers, Turkey and Qatar, to break up the Tehran-Damascus-Beirut radical bloc and eventually force Iran to give up its nuclear bomb aspirations.

3. Israel PM Netanyahu 'curbs settlement construction' - BBC

Israel's prime minister has issued an unofficial order to stop the approval of new plans or tenders for Jewish settlement construction in the West Bank, a leading pressure group says. Peace Now said it appeared Benjamin Netanyahu was responding to US efforts to restart Middle East peace talks. The Israeli government has neither confirmed nor denied the report.

4. US, allies to stage large naval exercise in Gulf - Jerusalem Post

The United States and its allies are preparing for naval exercises in the Gulf energy export hub that will include mine sweeping and escorting commercial ships in a region where Iran is seen as a threat both to trade and security. Forty-one countries are taking part in the two-week International Mine Countermeasures Exercise (IMCMEX-13) to practice mine sweeping and protecting ports and energy installations in the Gulf.

5. Cherie Blair get honorary doctorate in Israel - UPI

6. Jerusalem celebrates reunification - UPI

Jerusalem took on a festive mood Wednesday to mark the 46th anniversary of the reunification of the city after East Jerusalem was captured in the 1967 war. "Jerusalem is the spirit of the nation and spirit cannot be divided," Israel Radio quoted Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon saying at the ceremony.

7. Syria 'cut off from the internet' - BBC

Syria last experienced a shutdown for three days in November 2012.

Today's Focus: The Persecuted Church

"You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men. Brethren, let each one remain with God in that state in which he was called." (I Corinthians 7:23,24)

1. Iranian-American Pastor Spends Birthday in Solitary Confinement - Morningstar News

An Iranian-American pastor spent his 33rd birthday in solitary confinement today (MAY 8), suffering from untreated injuries from beatings by prisoners and officials in an Iranian prison.

Saeed Abedini has spent six months in Tehran's harsh Evin Prison, known for housing political dissidents and government protestors, where he is serving an eight-year sentence for planting house churches from 2000 to 2005. Although there is no law against house churches, the government termed his involvement a threat to "national security," even though he had ceased such work after agreeing in 2009 to limit his ministry to humanitarian work. 2. Family of Christian American Imprisoned by North Korea Speaks Out - UCA News

Family members of imprisoned U.S. citizen Kenneth Bae have taken to the airwaves for the first time since his arrest six months ago in Rajin, North Korea, with his sister telling CNN that the Christian tour operator is not a spy.

Bae, an ethnic Korean and naturalized U.S. citizen, was sentenced this week to 15 years in a North Korean labor camp for alleged acts deemed threatening to the government. He was arrested Nov. 3, 2012, while in Rason City (formerly Rajin) reportedly while leading a tour with five Europeans. The government-run Korean Central News Agency, which announced the 15-year sentence, had revealed over the weekend that Bae was charged with "committing crimes aimed at toppling the Democratic People's Republic of Korea with hostility towards it," according to The Independent.

However, Bae's sister, Terri Chung, denied those claims during an interview with CNN Thursday night. (Read more)

3. Christians Students in U.S. Speak out Against Persecution in Public Schools - Christian Post

Public school students who've endured ridicule for their Christian beliefs created a newly released video, titled "The Thaw," in which they ask, "Why can't I pray in school? Why am I called names because I believe in marriage the way God designed it? Why can't Tim Tebow praise God after making a touchdown without causing a national uproar?"

These questions, and many others, are posed by Christian students who've experienced censorship from teachers and even bullying from classmates who ostracize them for their biblical worldview on marriage and the right to life. (Read more.)

The Legislative Bulletin for Conservatives

Week of May 6 - 10, 2013

Online Sales Tax

After a number of Republicans voted to invoke cloture on the online sales tax bill (S.743), this bill is expected to pass with a simple majority vote on Monday. To make matters worse, supporters of the bill are offering a manager's amendment which will provide a new definition for "state" that allows every tribal organization to force businesses in every state to pay sales tax too. There are 565 federally- recognized tribal organizations. This means that every business will now have to add 565 tribal tax systems to their system when collecting sales taxes for online purchases.

Conservatives must work to quickly circulate a letter in the House invoking the Hastert Rule against this massive tax increase. We must make it clear that this tax increase is opposed by the majority of the House Republican Conference, and should not be brought to the floor any time during this session.

Hypocrisy is politics as usual at the White House

On May 3rd, the occupant of the the Oval Office addressed "The People of Mexico" with a blatantly hypocritical speech. Ignoring that it was his administration and his attorney general who trafficked guns to Mexican drug dealers in "Operation Fast and Furious," he lectured Mexicans about illegal guns and how his administration was going to put gun traffickers behind bars. He also told the Mexican people that he would do everything in his power to undermine the Constitutional guarantees to the right to bear arms. On one hand he is saying that guns from America cause crime in Mexico and that he wants to shut down gun ownership in America, on the other, his administration sold guns to Mexican drug dealers.

He said, "And we also recognize that most of the guns used to commit violence here in Mexico come from the United States. I think many of you know that in America, our Constitution guarantees our individual right to bear arms, and as President I swore an oath to uphold that right and I always will. But at the same time, as I've said in the United States, I will continue to do everything in my power to pass common-sense reforms that keep guns out of the hands of criminals and dangerous people. That can save lives here in Mexico and back home in the United States. It's the right thing to do. So we'll keep increasing the pressure on gun traffickers who bring illegal guns into Mexico. We'll keep putting these criminals where they belong -- behind bars."

CBS News reported February 23, 2011 the murder of border agent Brian Terry by a Mexican drug thug using an assault rifle that was part of thousands of guns delivered into the hands of Mexican drug cartel criminals by the Justice Department's Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. In September 2011, The Daily Jot reported a search of the DOJ website showed dozens of releases and statements on the subject, many by Attorney General Eric Holder. "Holder's Justice Department authorized the sales to track the weapons when crimes were committed. Americans have been killed because of it. Holder denies knowing of it. The President denies knowing of it. But there are references throughout the Justice Department website touting it."
This is just one example of hypocrisy being politics as usual at the White House. Another is the financial and political support of the Muslim Brotherhood and al Qaeda--America's sworn enemies--in Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Yemen and now Syria. These are the very same organizations that are killing our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. They killed our Ambassador in Benghazi while the Secretaries of State and Defense ignored pleas for help and the "president" was no where to be found.
These are the consequences of putting a hireling over the sheep. The hireling is really not part of the shepherd or the sheep. He doesn't understand nor love the culture. He loves his own ways and puts his own self interest over that of the sheep. As Jesus said in John 10:12, "But he that is a hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep, and flees: and the wolf catches them, and scatters the sheep." There is only one good shepherd--Jesus the Messiah--and when a nation turns away from him and appoints hireling leaders over it, the consequences become self evident. We the People, Christians who know truth, need to re-engage on behalf of the truth.
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Prayers for Jerusalem

Praying for the Safety of Jerusalem on Jerusalem Day!

Shalom, beloved ones!

Happy Jerusalem Day (Yom Yerushalayim Day)!! Now that it is after sundown on May 7th, officially, Jerusalem Day has begun and will continue until sundown tomorrow evening (May 8th). It's very difficult for me to not be in that special city during this celebration. For so many years I have delighted in the festivities. Nearly everyone hangs up Israeli and Jerusalem flags from their balconies, and flies them from their vehicles, in honor of the day when the city was re-unified . . . and the Old City Jerusalem came back into Jewish possession. A massive flag parade and dance of the youth (young people gathered from throughout Israel) take over the the streets of the modern city; the crowd making its way into the Old City of Jerusalem. The dancing and celebrations continue there in the plaza of the Wailing Wall. Picnics and barbeques are everywhere; filling the air with the wonderful scent of grilled meat. It's an amazing time to be in the city!

The celebration centers around June 7, 1967. . . when, only one day into the Six-Day War, on the 28th day of Iyar, year 5727 (on the Jewish calendar) Jewish forces captured the Old City; returning the Wailing Wall to the Jewish people. Truly it was a bona fide miracle! Just think of it! Jerusalem had been divided and placed in Jordanian hands when the 1948 War for Independence ended. The hand of YHVH suddenly restored it restored to the rightful owners . . . against all odds!!

This year Jerusalem Day is especially significant. At this very moment, the Obama administration, through John Kerry, is bearing down upon the Israeli government with unspeakable pressure, in order for the Jews to submit to the terms of the Palestinians for a Two State Solution (a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its soveriegn capital). East Jerusalem (and much of Judea and Samaria) will again be lost to the Jews, and handed over to those, who, for generations have tried to displace and kill them for the honor of Islam. Simultaneously, China is putting the squeeze play on Bibi and his government to do the same thing. The whole international community has bought into the lie . . . claiming that the Palestinians are being seriously oppressed/disenfranchised of their rights, at the hands of thieving Jewish occupiers. The preservation of Jerusalem, as an undivided Jewish city, seems hopeless. Israel is literally standing against the whole world, when it comes to governmental pressure, The UN, the EU, etc . . . everyone wants to see Israel disinherited from her Land, in order to satisfy the false claims of the Palestinians. It's heart breaking. As a result it is vital that we pray fervently during this Jerusalem Day celebration, and on into the weeks and months ahead.

PLEASE PRAY:

-- Pray that this celebration will take place without any Jewish blood being shed by terrorists, by accidents, or by war.

-- Pray that the Holy Spirit would visit this year's celebration in an amazing way . . . penetrating and uniting the hearts of the Jews with the LOVE of their holy city, and of their God as never before.

-- Pray that the politicians and spiritual leaders, who will be speaking at the various events during the celebration, will be fervent in their refusals to divide the city, or to be removed from, Jerusalem. Please, Lord . . . no empty platitudes or posturing for political gain this year! May this year's professions, (made by those refusing to yield up Jerusalem), come from a deep, immoveable, inner, place, of commitment. Pray that nothing will move the leaders or the people from this position.

--Pray that P.M. Netanyahu, and his government, will be given new, wise, and unswerving responses/solutions to the pressure, and to the demands being leveled at them.

-- Pray that YHVH would apprehend the Left wing, humanist, Israelis . . . especially the Opposition in the government . . . so that they STOP cursing their own inheritance by choosing to side with the enemies of Israel, with those seeking to divest the Jews of their Land/security.

-- Pray that YHVH would deal with President, Shimon Peres . . . who continues to speak of the need for Israel to surrender land for peace, and to share Jerusalem for the sake of Palestinian justice.

-- Pray that YHVH would speak clearly to the ultra-Orthodox Jews, who still think that the State of Israel should not exist until the Messiah comes . . . and therefore oppose the State and its holidays.

-- Pray that YHVH would deal with the Arabs that curse Jerusalem Day, and who consider it a day of mourning and shame for Islam . . . a day that must be avenged, so that allah is vindicated and glorified.

-- As the dancing fills the streets of Jerusalem and as the flags fill the airspace all day Wednesday, pray that revival will come to the Jewish people, and that the Messiah Yeshua will return soon to reign in that city.

-- PRAY FOR THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM . . . AND PRAY A BLESSING UPON ALL THOSE WHO GUARD, DEFEND, AND CLAIM HER FOR YHVH. Pray and decree this scripture:

Psalm 122:6-9 (NASB)

6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
"May they prosper who love you.
7 "May peace be within your walls,
And prosperity within your palaces."
8 For the sake of my brothers and my friends,
I will now say, "May peace be within you."
9 For the sake of the house of the LORD our God,
I will seek your good.

True peace will come to Jerusalem, when the Prince of Peace rules that city and the whole world from Temple Mount. Until then, we will pray, and we will defend beloved our Jerusalem.

Pray that Jerusalem be an expanded Jewish possession by this day next year! Rejoice that she is ours NOW! Baruch YHVH! Much love,
Kathleen

Lawmaker Files Pro-Life Resolution with Senate

Fallout from Gosnell Case

Sen. Mike Lee introduced a resolution Monday that calls on federal, state and local governments to investigate illegal abortion practices and unsanitary conditions.

The Utah lawmaker is calling on the Senate to protect women and girls from "abusive, unsanitary, and illegal abortion practices." Lee also condemned the deplorable practices uncovered at abortionist Kermit Gosnell's Philadelphia abortion center. Gosnell is charged with murdering seven newborns and one pregnant woman.

"The facts of the Gosnell case are disturbing and heartbreaking," Lee said. "The lack of oversight at abortions facilities puts women's lives at risk and leads to the kind of unconscionable practices we have seen recently." (CitizenLink) Read more.
