The Daily Brief

1. 'An eye for an eye': British soldier beheaded, killed in barbaric machete attack - RT

A man believed to be soldier has been beheaded in a barbaric attack by two men on a street outside Woolwich army barracks in South East London. In the shocking scene, one of the killers addressed witnesses saying "you will never be safe."

- Lord, this is an unconscionable act of barbarism. We pray your comfort for the family of this victim, and justice for the perpetrators. We pray for a move of Your Holy Spirit across the UK, bringing truth and light to the people.

- "But the wicked and the one who loves violence His soul hates" [Psalm 11:5b]

2. Feds say U.S. drones have killed four Americans - Washington Times

U.S. drone strikes have killed four Americans, including one who was "specifically targeted" and three others who were not targets, Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. said in a letter to Congress on Wednesday, publicly confirming the strikes for the first time.

- Lord, this scheme of the administration has flown out of control and needs to be reined in. We pray that our legislators will see the danger and problems associated with killing Americans on American soil, and move to stop it.

- "For they have filled the land with violence; then they have returned to provoke Me to anger" [Ezekiel 8:17c]

3. DOJ invoked Espionage Act in calling Fox News reporter criminal 'co-conspirator'- Fox News

The Justice Department did more than seize a Fox News reporter's emails while suggesting he was a criminal "co-conspirator" in a leak case -- it did so under one of the most serious wartime laws in America, the Espionage Act.

It's the same law used by the Nixon administration to go after The New York Times and Daniel Ellsberg over the leak of the Pentagon Papers. It's the law used to charge the Rosenbergs, American communists, for allegedly passing secret information to the Soviet Union -- they were executed for the offense in 1953.

- Father, our country desperately needs Your help. Not only have we fallen far away from you, but one of our most basic freedoms - freedom of the press - is in serious jeopardy. Please turn this nation around, and move us toward righteousness and true freedom! We ask You for justice against those who have deliberately targeted this journalist.

- "Righteousness and Justice are the foundation of Your throne" [Psalm 89:14a]

4. Wells Dry, Fertile Plains Turn to Dust - NY Times

Vast stretches of Texas farmland lying over the High Plains aquifer no longer support irrigation. In west-central Kansas, up to a fifth of the irrigated farmland along a 100-mile swath of the aquifer has already gone dry. In many other places, there no longer is enough water to supply farmers' peak needs during Kansas' scorching summers.

- Lord, we ask for Your mercy over the land. We intercede on behalf of the farmlands of the nation and pray that You will not allow it to be destroyed. Have mercy and grace for the farmers, the ranchers, the land, and its creatures in Jesus' Mighty Name.

- "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none." [Ezekiel 22:30]

This week, for all the headlines cited below, please join us in proclaiming THIS DECREE:

" "It is by YHWH's kindnesses that we are not destroyed, because His mercies never fail. They are new every morning. Great is Your faithfulness." (Lamentations 3:22-23)

1. Gas discoveries give Israel new regional clout - Jerusalem Post

Israel's newfound natural gas reserves will boost its regional clout and could help it improve ties with neighboring states in need of new energy sources, Energy Minister Silvan Shalom said.

2. Israel to hold massive chemical warfare drill - Times of Israel

The Home Front Command on Wednesday was preparing for a massive military drill next week, to focus on coping with chemical weapons attacks. The nationwide exercise will drill the civilian population as well as military and emergency services.

3. Hamas textbooks to teach about 'liberation plans' - Jerusalem Post

Hamas has begun preparing new school textbooks that teach children about "plans to liberate Palestine and the legitimacy and various forms of resistance [against Israel]." Jamal Abu Hashem, advisor to the Hamas-controlled education ministry, said new books would be introduced as part of National Education Studies for grades 8-10.

4. US 'pressures' Israel with diplomat at settlement hearing - Times of Israel

In what left- and right-wing groups are interpreting as a display of US pressure on Israel, an American diplomat appeared at the Supreme Court in Jerusalem on Wednesday to listen to the government's argument in favor of legalizing four unauthorized West Bank outposts.

Pray for the Harvest!

Pray for the Harvest!

"Do you not say, 'Four months more and then the harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest." (John 4:35)

Every day, in every nation on earth, tens of thousands of men and women are making decisions for Christ. Now, you can monitor this amazing fact online by literally "watching" as these souls are born again into the Kingdom.

Of course, the identities of those who are coming to the Lord are never revealed, but our God knows who they are!

Join us as we monitor these "names" daily, praying over each one to be mentored and to grow in his or her faith . . . even in these perilous times. You may visit either or both of the sites below, to pray for fields that are ripe for harvest.

About CHPP

ABOUT CAPITOL HILL PRAYER PARTNERS

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven" [Matthew 6:10].

Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
Friends may participate by receiving our daily prayer alerts. You may contact us at chpp@patriot.net for more information. CHPP is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt ministry. Thank you and God bless you!
