The Daily Brief

1. Letter to Bloomberg Tests Positive for Ricin - CNN

Preliminary tests indicate ricin was found in letters sent this past weekend to New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the director of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, New York Deputy Police Commissioner Paul Browne said Wednesday. Browne said the letter to Bloomberg contained a threat to the mayor and referenced the debate on gun laws. Some of the emergency services workers who touched the letter are being examined after they showed minor symptoms of ricin exposure on Saturday, he said. The symptoms have since subsided.

Officials also intercepted Thursday a letter addressed to the White House that was similar to threatening letters sent to New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and a group he founded.

- Father we pray for justice for the perpetrator of this violent act. We see that people who do these things are not right with You, and their actions further entrench the false beliefs of the liberal community against the conservatives. We pray for Your intervention and protection for our leadership.

- "But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily to God; yes, let every one turn from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hand."
[Jonah 3:8]

2. House Republicans express "great concern" about possible Holder perjury -CBS News

Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee sent a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder on Wednesday expressing "great concern" about the possibility that Holder lied under oath during his testimony earlier this month on the Justice Department's seizing of journalists' records, CBS News has learned. (Read more)

- Lord, we humbly pray that this man will either be removed from his position, or You will use these scandals to change his heart and bring Him to Christ.

- "The Lord is known by the judgment He executes; the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands." [Psalm 9:16]

3. Obama faces resistance in bid to unload popular southern utility giant - Fox News

The TVA operates solely with income from ratepayers; it has a debt of some $25 billion. While that debt is not backed by the federal government, it is included in the overall federal debt numbers. By selling the TVA, Obama can give the appearance of immediately erasing $25 billion in red ink from the books.

Or can he?

Some are now questioning whether shedding the TVA would yield the kind of payoff Obama anticipates, while Republican lawmakers in the region remain uncharacteristically protective of this government-sponsored company. And ratepayers worry that if the TVA changes hands, their power costs could go up. (Read more)

- Lord, this seems like an attempt to manipulate the figures of American debt. Instead of falsely erasing those numbers, we pray that You will find a solution that will keep energy costs reasonable for all Americans, and reduce the debt incurred by all utility companies.

- "Save now, I pray, O Lord; O Lord, I pray send now prosperity." [Psalm 118:25]

4. For Bachmann, the End of a Congressional Era - Family Research Council

After an incredible run, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) announced that she's retiring from Congress at the end of her term. For eight years, she served more than the people of Minnesota--she served the families of America with her tireless stand for conservative values. A proud voice for life and marriage, Michele never shied away from a fight--and our movement is better for it. We wish her all the best as she closes out her distinguished Hill career and starts out on her next journey. In the meantime, join me in thanking a dear friend and fearless leader for all she's accomplished on behalf of faith, family, and freedom! We look forward to working with Michele in the House and wherever God calls her next.

- Thank the Lord for Michele Bachmann, a mighty woman of God who has faitfhully served as a voice of righteousness in the House Chamber for these many years. Ask that her voice be heard even more loudly by those who need to hear her message in the remaining months of her term. Pray for her protection now, as well as that of her staff and her family. Thank you.

- "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." (2 Timothy 4:7)

5. California Senate Bill Passes Attacking Religious Liberties - Breaking Christian News

Today the Senate passed SB 323, the bill revoking the tax exempt status of non-profit youth organizations, including private schools, should they not hire, or allow as leaders, persons whose sexual conduct is against the beliefs of such institutions.

The bill's sponsor, Senator Lara, reportedly resorts to coercion after claiming the Boy Scouts did not go far enough and demands that homosexual adults be allowed as leaders into the group. [Reported by the Capitol Resource Group; Sacramento, CA] Read more.

- It seems as if the dam has now broken, and the enemy is confronting us from all fronts at once. Thank our Lord, who is MIGHTY IN BATTLE and prevail up Him, in repentance, to tear down this assault of evil in our land. As we humble ourselves before Him, He will move on our behalf! Watch, and pray . . .

- "When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him." (Isaiah 59:19)

6. Is the Dollar Dying? Why US Currency Is in Danger - CNBC

The U.S dollar is shrinking as a percentage of the world's currency supply, raising concerns that the greenback is about to see its long run as the world's premier denomination come to an end. (Read more)

- Lord we pray for Your mercy for the dollar. We send money to other countries for Your people to do the work of the Kingdom of God. Without a strong dollar, they will suffer even more than they do now. We ask for faith, provision, and hope for our brethren around the world.

"For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things." [Matthew 6:32b]

7. WHO calls Middle Eastern virus, MERS, 'threat to the entire world' as death toll rises to 27 - Daily Mail UK

Earlier this week, the World Health Organization warned that the disease, first identified in humans in September, is now their greatest global concern. The MERS-CoV virus is related to SARS, which killed some 800 people in a global epidemic in 2003. (Read more)

- Lord, Your people are being murdered across the earth. We pray for strength, faith, hope, and life to all of our brothers and sisters who are suffering in Your Name.

3. PA negotiator: Kerry's chances slim to revive peace process - Jerusalem Post

1. Vatican Claims 100,000 Christians are Killed Every Year - Fox News

A staggering 100,000 Christians are killed annually because of their faith, according to the Vatican -- and several human rights groups claim such anti-Christian violence is on the rise in countries like Pakistan, Nigeria and Egypt.

"Credible research has reached the shocking conclusion that an estimate of more than 100,000 Christians are violently killed because of some relation to their faith every year," Vatican spokesman Monsieur Silvano Maria Tomassi said Tuesday in a radio address to the United Nations Human Rights Council.

"Other Christians and other believers are subjected to forced displacement, to the destruction of their places of worship, to rape and to the abduction of their leaders, as it recently happened in the case of Bishops Yohanna Ibrahim and Boulos Yaziji, in Aleppo [Syria]," Tomassi said.

2. U.S. Criticizes Nigeria as Christians Continue to be Persecuted - allAfrica

During Secretary of State John F. Kerry's first official trip to sub-Saharan Africa last week, he had the opportunity to publicly bolster a key US ally. Instead, he singled out Nigeria for criticism at the very time the country is engaged in a pitched battle to defend itself against radical Islamic terrorists who have pledged to overthrow the government and replace it with an Islamic state.

It was a puzzling choice by the U.S., coming at the very moment that Nigeria is reporting major progress in combating the group Boko Haram. Nigeria has deployed 2,000 soldiers to its northern regions to destroy well-equipped terrorist training camps utilized by these Islamists. Public chiding is not what Nigeria needs. It doesn't help Nigeria in its fight and ultimately does not best serve American interests.

Nigeria is presently at war and on the other side are terrorists who may be receiving help from al Qaeda and al Qaeda-linked fighters. Nigeria's goal is to retain its grip on three northern states, preventing Boko Haram from solidifying its grip on the region and fundamentally destabilizing Nigeria.

3. Will Obama finally act against violators of religious freedoms?- Worthy News

The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom has called upon President Obama for a clear and direct response concerning countries that have egregiously violated religious freedoms, according to BarnabasAid.

The USCIRF monitors abuses of religious freedom worldwide; it annually provides a report of the worst offenders and makes recommendations regarding "countries of particular concern," a designation that requires the U.S. to impose sanctions against them.

The report revealed that U.S. policy provided few incentives for CPC-designated governments to "end their egregious violations of religious freedom because no new Presidential actions pursuant to CPC designations have been levied . . . the designation of . . . CPC must be followed by the implementation of a clear, direct and specific Presidential action."

For example, the only specific executive action Obama took was to supply Egypt with fighter planes and tanks after it's Muslim Brotherhood controlled government consistently failed to protect religious minorities, particularly Christians, while at the same time prosecuting them for allegedly defaming Islam.

Prayer Alert: ISRAEL

Israel threatens to bomb Russian arms shipment to Syria

Israel Today

Thursday, May 30, 2013

Israeli officials this week said they would "know what to do" if Russia goes through with the planned sale of an advanced anti-aircraft system to Syria. Given Israel's recent pinpoint air strikes in Syria, the remarks were taken as a thinly veiled threat to destroy the Russian arms the moment they touch Syrian soil.

"Delivery [of the S-300] has not taken place - I can attest to this - and I hope it does not. But if, by some misfortune, they arrive in Syria, we will know what to do," Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon told reporters.

Israel had tried to convince Russia to cancel the arms sale, arguing that the S-300 would enable embattled Syrian dictator Bashar Assad to more easily transfer chemical weapons to his Hezbollah allies. Two earlier Israeli air strikes purportedly prevented similar transfers.
There is also the risk that should Assad fall, the S-300 itself will fall into the hands of Hezbollah or one of the radical Islamic groups making up the Syrian rebel army. Israeli officials noted that, in the hands of terrorists, the S-300 could be used to quite easily bring down civilian airliners.
But at a meeting in the Black Sea resort of Sochi last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin rebuffed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's concerns, insisting that Assad is a stabilizing factor in the region and that his regime must be given every chance to remain in power.
Meanwhile, Assad on Thursday claimed on Hezbollah's Al-Manar TV that he had already received the first shipment of S-300 missiles and radar systems. The Syrian dictator went on to warn Israel that any further air strikes would result in an immediate Syrian retaliation.

Following Israel's last air strike against a suspect chemical weapons storehouse at Damascus airport, Arab media reported that Syria had aimed the bulk of its considerable long-range missile arsenal at the Jewish state. (Read more)

- Lift up Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his advisers in this hour of increasing peril for their nation, asking God to grant them His wisdom to know what to do, and when and how to strike, if necessary. Offer praise that He promises to be a wall of fire around Jerusalem. Ask for wisdom for our own authorities to know how to respond should this event occur, and how to stand as a strong, unshakeable ally of Israel in her time of need. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem . . . pray.

- "The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." (James 5:16)

Mosque in Maryland moves prophecy clock forward

The Muslim Brotherhood plan to revive the Caliphate and takeover the United States got a boost with the dedication of a $100 million Islamic center paid for by a country that figures prominently in end time prophecy. With the blessing of the White House, Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan, along with Maryland officials and MB representatives dedicated the five building mosque complex on 15 acres in Lanham beneath the Turkish and American flags flying at equal levels. The complex is a reminder of Biblical prophecies of the antichrist arising from lands currently in Turkey, and how America is firmly in the orbit of prophecy--as a satellite of the end time Beast government.

Evidence in the 2007 Holy Land Foundation trial indicated a Muslim Brotherhood plan to take over North America. The plan, written in 1991, calls for Islamists to colonize America with Islamic Centers, schools, elected officials and court cases. It seeks to establish a "Civilization-Jihadist Process." It outlines how "work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and "sabotaging" its miserable house..." The MB was formed after the collapse of the Ottoman Empire in Turkey. Erdogan's AKP political party and the MB have close ties. The Islamic center in Maryland funded by Turkey is in lock step with the MB plan for North America. So is the White House.

Istanbul Analytics reported in November 2012 that "Ankara and Washington are now walking in lockstep. The essence of the new relationship is one where Turkey is more empowered, and more crucial to the US because of its leverage." The online report said that Turkish and US diplomats claim they cannot remember a time when the US and Turkey have been closer, citing that the man who occupies the Oval Office "called Turkey's prime minister more than any other leader except Britain's prime minister in 2011." The policies of the US government in aiding the Muslim Brotherhood and, now, in allowing Turkey to build this colonization mosque near the nation's capital all play into the prophetic end times.
This Administration's ongoing support of the Muslim Brotherhood and all of its trimmings, and the close relationship of the occupant to Turkey's prime minister is prophetically significant. The US has done more in the past ten years to support Islamic expansion than ever before. This has been exponentially accelerated in the past four years. There are numerous accounts in the Bible where the Lord identifies the antichrist as Assyrian (Isaiah 10, 14, 31, 52; Hosea 11; Micah 5 to name a few). For example, Isaiah 14:25 says, "That I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot." Assyria is in part of modern day Turkey. Watch and pray.
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Media Turns On Holder

Media Turns On Holder

Attorney General Eric Holder's attempt at damage control appears to be backfiring. Holder was scheduled to hold "off the record" meetings with key members of the media today and tomorrow to repair frayed relations stemming from the Associated Press and Fox News scandals. But leading outlets are refusing to attend. Yesterday the Associated Press and the New York Times announced they would not attend any "off the record" meetings with Holder given that he is now a huge part of the story. CNN, Fox News, CBS News, Reuters, and the Huffington Post also turned down Holder's invitation. It's not surprising that Fox and the AP would refuse to go given that they were targets of Holder's probes. But the Huffington Post and the New York Times? Perhaps some dormant "journalistic gene" long suppressed in the liberal media has finally started to reassert itself!

Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney (a former reporter himself) was peppered with questions during yesterday's press briefing about the fact that Attorney General Holder is being investigated for perjury by the House Judiciary Committee. As you may recall, Holder told the committee that the prosecution of journalists was "not something I've ever been involved in, heard of, or would think would be wise policy." And yet Holder signed off on a warrant labeling Fox News reporter James Rosen a potential criminal co-conspirator under the 1917 Espionage Act. Carney asserted that because Rosen was never formally charged or prosecuted, Holder did not technically commit perjury. That explanation doesn't pass the straight face test. In fact, it makes the scandal even worse.
At least one reporter reminded Carney that the warrant is a legal document. If the Justice Department never intended to prosecute Rosen and made up the charge in order to get a judge to sign off on the warrant, then the so-called "Justice Department" lied to a judge and Holder approved it! So, did Holder lie to the House Judiciary Committee or did his Justice Department lie to a judge? Perhaps the best answer is for Mr. Holder to resign quickly before this gets any worse.(Gary Bauer)

"Obamagate"

"Obamagate"

A new Quinnipiac poll provides fresh evidence that the scandals swirling around the Obama Administration are taking a toll on the president's support. At the beginning of the month, the president enjoyed a net positive rating of 48% approval to 45% disapproval. Today it is flipped: 49% of voters disapprove of his job performance and 45% approve.

The president took the biggest hit among independent voters: Only 37% of independent voters approve of Obama's job performance, while 57% disapprove. Just a few weeks ago, the president was down only six points with independent voters. Now he's down 20 points!

Here are some other numbers that should concern the White House: Two years ago, 63% felt Obama was "honest and trustworthy." Today voters are divided 49% to 47%. And when asked whether a special prosecutor should be empowered to investigate the IRS scandal, 76% of voters said "Yes!"

As we have noted before, there are numerous comparisons in the current IRS and media scandals to the Nixon Administration. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell is running a new web ad hitting the president hard for the "culture of intimidation" that has permeated Washington.

And there isthis video that compares Obama's reactions to the scandals and Nixon's responses to Watergate. The similarities are stunning! It's almost as if the Obama press office deliberately decided to emulate Nixon's media strategy. (Gary Bauer)

The Good News Corner

The Good News Corner:

An Unimaginable Miracle Birth Story

As prayer unites grieving Oklahomans, stories continue to surface like this one of an expectant mother finding herself utterly dependent on God's mercy.

(Moore, OK)-Yes, of all situations a human being could fear being caught in during a catastrophe, a woman in labor ranks near the top. In such a compromised, restricted state, a laboring mother is completely at the mercy of God when circumstances beyond her control turn deadly
Such was the case of 25-year-old Shayla Taylor, who found herself in Moore Medial Center the afternoon of the now infamous EF-5 twister that decimated the area.

Taylor told NBC News that while she was in labor, suddenly "the floor was shaking like an earthquake and then I saw the ceiling shaking too. You could see insulation starting to fall. Me and two of the nurses were all just holding hands and praying, and I opened my eyes and I could see out the wall."

Giving God glory for her and her newborn's survival, Taylor named her baby son, Braeden Immanuel, which means "God is with us."

"The name had been picked out for months," she added. "Now I know why." [Breaking Christian News] Read more.
