"And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." (Isaiah 9:6)

1. US warns Iran against closing key oil passage - Financial Tech Spotlight

The U.S. warned Iran on Wednesday it will not tolerate any disruption of traffic through the Strait of Hormuz after Iran threatened to choke off the vital Persian Gulf oil transport route if Washington imposes sanctions targeting its crude exports.'-'Iran's navy chief boasted Wednesday that it would be "very easy" for his country's forces to close the strategic Strait of Hormuz, the passage at the mouth of the Persian Gulf through which a sixth of the world's oil passes daily. It was the second such threat in two days '

B.) Iran threatens to block Strait of Hormuz oil route - BBC

Iran says it may close a vital oil-trade route if the West imposes more sanctions over its controversial nuclear programme. Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi warned that "not a drop of oil will pass through the Strait of Hormuz" if sanctions are widened. Iran's navy chief Admiral Habibollah Sayari later said closing the strait would be "easy".

- Father, we intercede over the threat of closing this oil route. Open the eyes of these Iranian leaders to the danger of their pride and arrogance.

- The king said, Is not this the great Babylon that I have built as the royal residence and seat of government by the might of my power and for the honor and glory of my majesty? While the words were still in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: The kingdom has departed from you.

2. Sobbing in streets as dictator Kim Jong Il's state funeral begins
- World News

Wednesday's state funeral for North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il capped more than a week of public mourning. NBC's Adrienne Mong reports.

Wailing and clutching at their hearts, tens of thousands of North Koreans lined the snowy streets of Pyongyang on Wednesday as the hearse carrying late leader Kim Jong Il's wound its way through the capital for a final farewell. Son and successor Kim Jong Un led the procession, which is part of a two-day state funeral. Kim Jong Il, who led the nation with an iron fist following his father Kim Il Sung's death in 1994, died of a heart attack Dec. 17 at age 69, according to state media. North Koreans were told he was the most famous person on earth, in a world without Hollywood or the Internet many believe it, he was a religion, a cult, a god and a king combined.

- Dear Lord, may the death of this dictator throw open wide doors for the Gospel of Jesus Christ to reach the physically and spiritually starving nation of North Korea. May all the prayers that have been lifted up during Kim Jon-il's reign of terror, now find fertile soil for Your will to be done there. Into this nation of a one million strong army, four million in reserve, nuclear power and ballistic missiles, we ask for the miracle of salvation for Kim Jong Un, Jong-il's son and successor, and that You would bring wise leadership and stability to North Korea.

- " He who is cruel troubles his own flesh. The wicked man does deceptive work...though they join forces, the wicked will not go unpunished; but the posterity of the righteous will be delivered." (Proverbs 11: 17b,18a,21)

3. Will 2012 be a record disaster year? - IOL News

From floods that crippled countries, to mega cyclones, huge blizzards, killer tornadoes to famine-inducing droughts, 2011 has been another record-breaker for bad weather. While it is too early to predict what 2012 will be like, insurers and weather prediction agencies point to a clear trend: the world's weather is becoming more extreme and more costly.

- In spite of potential predictions Lord, surely Your saints have reason to be the most joyful of all people. For though the mountains quake and fall into the sea, Your hand is ever upon us and Your eyes watch over us in loving care. May all these destructive events serve to establish Your kingdom in the hearts of those affected. May severe natural events remind us of Your words, " Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads because your redemption draws near." (Luke 21:28) Come quickly Lord Jesus!

- "The earth is the Lord's and the fulness thereof..." (Psalm 24:1) "Then He arose and rebuked the wind and the raging water. And they ceased, and there was a calm. " (Luke 8:24)

4. New Obamacare Fee Coming to Health Insurance in 2012
- Big Government.com

Starting in 2012, the government will charge a new fee to your health insurance plan for research to find out which drugs, medical procedures, tests and treatments work best. But what will Americans do with the answers? The goal of the research, part of a little-known provision of President Barack Obama's health care law, is to answer such basic questions as whether that new prescription drug advertised on TV really works better than an old generic costing much less.

- Lord, we commit Obamacare into Your Hands. We pray for the days in late March when the Supreme Court will consider arguments concerning the Constitutionality of this legislation. Move the court to strike this bill down. Raise up independent, not government controlled, researchers to seek out supplements that bring genuine healing. May Your people increasingly embrace, in whole hearted child-like faith, the complete healing promised in Your Word, and may our vigor and wellness be a testimony to the nations.

- " He sent His Word and healed them and delivered them from their destructions."
(Psalm 107:20) "Bless the Lord... Who heals all your diseases. " (Psalm 103: 2,3) " who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree...by whose stripes you were healed." (1 Peter 2:24)

5. Some Call for HBO Boycott in Wake of Bill Maher's Derisive Tweet About Tim Tebow
- Fox News

Maher, who hosts the long-running HBO show "Real Time With Bill Maher," wrote a message on his Twitter account after the Broncos lost to the Buffalo Bills on Saturday. "Wow, Jesus just f**ked #TimTebow bad! And on Xmas Eve! Somewhere ... Satan is tebowing, saying to Hitler "Hey, Buffalo's killing them." Tebow tweeted after the game: "Tough game today but what's most important is being able to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Merry Christmas everyone GB2." (GB2 is a phrase Tebow has made popular that means "God Bless + Go Broncos," according to his official website.)

- Dear Lord, we ask You to forgive Bill Maher for his blasphemous remarks because he does not realize the serious consequences of what he is saying. We loose the Holy Spirit to deal with his heart and lead him to salvation and new life in Jesus Christ. Thank You for our brother Tebow's great boldness as a witness for You before the whole world, strengthen him to continue to stand as godly example.

- " not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that we were called to this, that we may inherit a blessing. He who would love life and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit. Let him turn away from evil and do good. Let him seek peace and pursue it." (1 Peter 3: 9- 11)

White House Foreign Policy: laying the foundation of the antichrist

The White House used every opportunity in 2011 to downplay any mention that the man who occupies the Oval Office is a Muslim. He keeps saying that he is a Christian, but never truly describes Jesus Christ as the Son of God--which would be blasphemy according to the Koran.

He also has said that there is more than one way to heaven  [Masonic Cult Philosophy](March 27, 2008). Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." This is central doctrine to Christianity. Whether he claims to be a Christian, however, is truly found in his actions as Jesus also said in Matthew 7:20, "Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them." This is key concerning his foreign policy regarding Islam.

Obama's foreign policy has changed the direction of America as much as, if not more than, his domestic policies. From his Chief of Staff's comments in early 2009 to Israeli leaders that America's opposition to Iran's nuclear program would be tied to Israel's progress in peace talks with Palestinians to embracing the terrorist-sponsoring Muslim Brotherhood as a foreign policy partner, the president's foreign policy has given Islam an unprecedented leg up in the Middle East. His policies have strengthened Islam in most every nation in the region. Swiftly abandoning Iraq has led to Iran immediately ramping up its influence there. There are virtually no Christian churches left in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The [Moslem] Brotherhood, whose goal is to establish Sharia law globally, has gained tremendous strength in Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, and Yemen. It is solidifying its strength in Israel as Hamas, one of the Muslim Brotherhood's terrorist arms, is considering joining with longtime rival, the Palestinian Authority. As Americans we need to understand that the Palestinian Authority is also made up of terrorists, just not the same ilk as Hamas. The [Moslem] Brotherhood's strategy, even in America, is to divide and conquer using diverse Islamic groups, then unite them under Sharia Law. AP reports that the head of Hamas in Gaza describes Hamas as the "jihadi movement of the Brotherhood with a Palestinian face."

AP reports that Egypt's [Moslem] Brotherhood is facilitating reconciliation of Hamas and the Palestinian Authority's terrorist arm, Fatah. This would not be possible without the White House empowering the Muslim Brotherhood. Christian and Muslim eschatologists know that Islamic nations will come against Israel in the end times. They differ on the outcome. [Moslem] leaders, such as Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad believe it is their duty to "usher in" the end times. A real Christian president would not knowingly try to strengthen Islam toward this end. Obama has been Islam's escort. He has remade American foreign policy and has advanced the prophecy clock by laying the foundation of the antichrist.

The Good News Corner:

US Commission on Religious Freedom Reauthorized

Once thought lost, the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom wins reauthorization in Congress

After four months of struggle, Congress approved the reauthorization of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, hours before the commission was set to shut down. The House approved the final reauthorization of USCIRF by a voice vote Friday, December 16, in a bill that will reduce the commission's budget and remove most of the current commissioners.
The 13-year-old commission, which monitors abuses of religious freedom abroad, seemed bound for the dustbin after Sen. Richard Durbin, D-Ill., one of the top Democrats in the Senate, placed a secret hold on the House-passed legislation reauthorizing USCIRF.

The House had passed the reauthorization almost unanimously in September, but Durbin kept his hold on the bill until recently, when he added an amendment limiting terms of the commissioners. On Tuesday night, the Senate quickly passed the bill by unanimous consent. On Wednesday morning, a Senate Foreign Relations Committee staffer urged religious freedom advocates to press the House for "swift passage," after the Senate had sat on the legislation for months.

Rep. Frank Wolf, R-Va., who co-wrote the International Religious Freedom Act in 1998 that created the commission as well as the current legislation reauthorizing it, was angered with Durbin's last-minute change to the bill, calling it akin to "blackmail" (see "Senate says yes," Dec. 15). Because the commission was about to expire, the House was essentially forced to accept Durbin's amendment. The new bill authorizes USCIRF until 2014. (Source: WORLD Magazine)

Prayer:

- We offer a chorus of praise for this breakthrough, and we ask our Lord to cause our governing authorities to continue to actively pursue support of religious freedom worldwide. Amen.

- "Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord!"
