1. US State Department stops referring to Judea and Samaria as 'occupied' - World Israel News
In a US State Department annual report on human rights, the controversial term "occupied" was largely eliminated in references to various territories in and adjacent to Israel. While the term "occupied" had been used in such reports since the Carter administration, the 2017 version drops this term, which is generally used pejoratively to criticize Israeli policy following military victories through which the Jewish state acquired control of various territories.
The change comes after US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman advised the department in December to stop using the "misleading" term "occupied" in references to Judea and Samaria
2. Romanian Minister Says Country To Move Embassy To J'lem, But President Denies - Jerusalem Post
Romania will soon move its embassy to Jerusalem, Liviu Dragnea, the president of the Chamber of Deputies and a member of Romania's ruling party, said. Speaking in an interview with the Romanian TV channel ANTENA 3 on Thursday, Dragnea revealed that the decision was made the previous night.
Prime Minister Viorica Dancila confirmed on Friday that the memorandum has been approved but said its content was confidential and could not be made public yet. "A memorandum has been approved at the government meeting," Dancila told reporters. "We will hold talks afterward."
3. Netanyahu Warns Iran: 'IDF is Prepared, Israeli People Will Prevail' - United with Israel
Israel's armed forces are ready to meet any threat coming from Iran and to pay the price of conflict, if necessary, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said at a special government meeting held Friday.
On Thursday, the Jewish state paused to commemorate Independence Day. "We are hearing the threats coming from Iran. The IDF's soldiers and the security forces are prepared for any development," Netanyahu said. "We will fight whoever tries to harm us, will not be deterred by the price, and we will make those who wish for our destruction pay. The IDF is prepared for the mission and the people will prevail.
4. 'These are serious crimes - we expect the police to respond' - Israel National News
Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan responded Sunday afternoon to a video posted on social media showing Bedouin Arabs firing automatic weapons out of the windows of moving vehicles on a Negev highway.
"The actions that were documented on the roads in the south are very serious and we cannot in any way ignore them," Erdan said. "I expect the police to act immediately to locate and arrest the shooters who have been documented. They are acting as savage bullies and are carrying out wild and life-threatening shooting, and the struggle against illegal weapons is at the top of the Public Security Ministry's priorities."
Local council heads in the south were outraged following the publication of the video. The council heads blamed the police, who they accuse of doing nothing to combat the lawless of the Bedouin on the southern roads.
5. UN envoy accuses Israel of killing children - Israel National News
The UN's Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Nickolay Mladenov, on Friday blasted Israel following the deaths of Palestinian Arab teens in the violent riots along the Gaza-Israel border. "It is outrageous to shoot at children! How does the killing of a child in Gaza today help peace? It doesn't! It fuels anger and breeds more killing. Children must be protected from violence, not exposed to it, not killed! This tragic incident must be investigated," he wrote on Twitter.
Gazans continued their violent riots along the border with Israel on Friday, as they have done every Friday since March 30. Some 3,000 Palestinian Arabs tried to approach the security infrastructure, burning tires nearby and trying to fly kites with firebombs attached to them. A number of these kites, a new method which the rioters began to use last week, breached Israeli territory and were extinguished.
Mladenov's statement, however, made no mention of the violence or the firebombs used by the rioters.

8. Palestinians Throw Firebombs, Burn Israeli Flags, as Hamas-Led Violent Riots Continue - Bridges for Peace
Monday, 16 April 2018 | Hamas-led violent riots continued for a third consecutive week, as Palestinians at the Gaza Strip's border with Israel threw firebombs, attempted to breach the border fence, and burned Israeli flags, The New York Times reported Friday.
Gazans gathered at five points along the border with Israel. Israeli troops used live fire to keep rioters away from the border fence. In the report, the Times described how Hamas uses human shields to protect terrorists, observing that while some rioters were "peaceful," others located just a few feet away "prepared gasoline bombs to hurl at the Israeli side."
A number of rioters ignored Israeli warnings and approached the border fence. Israeli soldiers responded to the attempted incursions with gunfire and tear gas.
- Offer petition for all the IDF soldiers serving Israel at Gaza, in the north or manning checkpoints throughout the Land. Ask God for alertness, comfort in the heat and sound heartbeats as difficult decisions and actions are part of their everyday lives. Give thanks to God for protection, for going before them to prepare their way and for being in control whether these terrorists burn flags, chant or riot.
- "Behold, I send an Angel before you to keep you in the way and to bring you into the place which I have prepared." (Exodus 23:20)

1. Democrats mull audacious play to block Pompeo- The Hill
Democrats are mulling an audacious plan to bottle up President Trump's nominee to head the State Department in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee - even though Mike Pompeo likely has enough votes to win confirmation on the Senate floor. The plan under consideration would involve Democrats on the panel refusing to vote to discharge Pompeo, who is currently the director of the CIA, from the committee with even an unfavorable recommendation. This would force Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) to offer a motion to bring Pompeo's nomination to the Senate floor. Democratic senators and aides say that motion would be subject to a filibuster, allowing Democrats to block Pompeo.
It would heighten partisan tensions and play into President Trump's arguments that Democrats are actively obstructing him. Democratic Sen. Heidi Heitkamp's (N.D.) announcement Thursday that she will back Pompeo's nomination means he almost certainly will have at least 50 votes on the floor. Any procedural victory for Democrats could also be short-lived. Republicans say that McConnell could simply trigger the so-called nuclear option, whereby he would rule the Democratic maneuver out of order and bring Pompeo's nomination to the floor. He'd need just a majority vote to do so.
Nonetheless, a group of Democratic senators are pressing Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) to consider the plan as a way of using Pompeo's nomination as leverage on another thorny matter: protecting special counsel Robert Mueller. They want to pressure McConnell to agree to a sense-of-the-Senate resolution stating that Mueller should be allowed to complete his investigation. Schumer's office declined to comment on its strategy for Pompeo's nomination or negotiations with McConnell over a floor vote. Several Democratic senators talked to The Hill about the internal conversations and confirmed the plan is under consideration.
- Father in heaven, we pray Your presence be upon and around Mike Pompeo to guide him instinctively through the challenges that lie ahead of him. We lift up and place the holy Name of Jesus to cover the ungodly works of all who would oppose his confirmation. God, defeat the works of all enemies that are waging war against President Trump. We pray in the Name of Jesus and for Your glory, amen.
- "For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil." ( I John 3:8)
2. Comey's Memos Indicate Dossier Briefing Of Trump Was A Setup - The Federalist
Newly released memos written by former FBI director James Comey indicate that an early 2017 briefing for then-President-elect Donald Trump about the contents of an infamous dossier was held so it could be leaked to media outlets eager to report on the dossier's allegations. In multiple memos, Comey specifically mentioned that CNN had the dossier and wanted a "news hook" that would enable the network to report on its most salacious allegations even though they had not been verified.
There are two things in the memo that are worth highlighting as relate to that blockbuster CNN story from January 10, 2017. First, Comey claims that briefing the president-elect was the brainchild of Director of National Intelligence James Clapper. "I then executed the session exactly as I had planned," Comey noted before going into details of what he claimed he told the president-elect. So Comey, at Clapper's expressed behest, told Trump that CNN was "looking for a news hook" to publish dossier allegations. He said this in the briefing of Trump that almost immediately leaked to CNN, which provided them the very news hook they sought and needed.
- Righteous Father, we ask that all the damage attempted by James Comey regarding the dossier will meet with complete disbelief and failure. Lord, give President Trump an unequaled godly insight into everything he hears or sees so that this will be Your holy armor protecting him from deception by his enemies. Strengthen the President to stand strong and immovable in God's Truth and provision. In the Name of Jesus we pray.
- "Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ has made you free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage" (Galatians 5:1)
3. Rudy Giuliani Joins Trump's Legal Team - What it Means for the Russia Probe - CBN News
President Donald Trump is hiring outspoken supporter Rudy Giuliani to bolster his legal team. Before being elected mayor of New York City, Giuliani served as a US attorney and will be a fierce defender of Trump in the media. Trump's personal attorney, Jay Sekulow, says Giuliani will focus on the Russia probe as the White House works to bring the president's involvement with the investigation to a close. In recent days, the president has appeared more relaxed about the investigation, suggesting he's put the notion of firing special counsel Robert Mueller or Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who's in charge of the Russia probe on the back burner. And we now know last week Rosenstein told the president he's not the target of any part of the special counsel's investigation or the probe into his longtime lawyer, Michael Cohen, according to reports.
Meanwhile, the Department of Justice, amid subpoena threats from Republican lawmakers, has given Congress copies of several of James Comey's infamous memos written while he was director of the FBI. They're his accounts of what took place during his meetings with President Trump before he was fired. "Given the nature of the person, as I understood the president-elect, he might not tell the truth about those if it ever became an issue so I needed a written record," Comey said during an appearance on MSNBC Thursday. But in a joint statement, chairmen of three congressional committees say the memos show Comey never wrote he felt obstructed or threatened. "Former Director Comey's memos show the president made clear he wanted allegations of collusion, coordination and conspiracy between his campaign and Russia fully investigated," Reps. Bob Goodlatte (R-VA), Trey Gowdy (R-SC) and Devin Nunes (R-CA) wrote. And they went on to point out something else. "He chose not to memorialize conversations with President Obama, Attorney General Lynch, Secretary Clinton, Andrew McCabe or others, but he immediately began to memorialize conversations with President Trump," they noted.
- Lord God, we praise Your holy Name for bringing Rudy Giuliani to be part of President Trump's legal team. Anoint him with a warrior-like tenacity to defend President Trump with unyielding tenacity to be his faithful and solid supporter under all forms of resistance by the evil enemies of this administration. God, close every door to Robert Mueller or Rod Rosenstein that would allow the Russian probe to continue. Lock them out, Father. Shut the door to past enemies of President Trump from members of the past administration and Hillary Clinton and her supporters. We pray in the great Name of Jesus, amen.
- "That you come no among these nations, her that remain among you, neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve the,m, nor vow yourselves unto them. But cleave unto the Lord your God, as you have done unto this day." (Joshua 23:7-8)
4. DNC Sues Trump Campaign, Russia, WikiLeaks Over 2016 Election - Daily Wire
On Friday, the Democratic National Committee filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit against the Russian government, Donald Trump's presidential campaign and WikiLeaks, claiming that they were involved in a massive conspiracy against Hillary Clinton. The lawsuit, filed in federal court in the Southern District of New York, claims that senior members of the Trump campaign conspired with the Russian government to damage Clinton and seeks financial damages for the alleged hacks of the DNC's servers. "During the 2016 presidential campaign, Russia launched an all-out assault on our democracy, and it found a willing and active partner in Donald Trump's campaign," DNC chairman Tom Perez said.
Discovery in the case will be interesting given that the FBI has not had access to the DNC's servers. In November 2017, BuzzFeed News reported: The party had hired CrowdStrike essentially in place of the FBI - to this day, the Bureau has not had access to the DNC's servers. DNC officials said they made the eyebrow-raising choice to go with a private firm because they were worried they'd lose control of their operations right in the middle of the campaign. Not only that, but the FBI was investigating Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server. Better, the DNC figured, to handle things privately. "This constituted an act of unprecedented treachery: the campaign of a nominee for president of the United States in league with a hostile foreign power to bolster its own chance to win the presidency," Perez continued. "This is not partisan, it's patriotic."
- Almighty God, we pray that from the onset of the filing of this lawsuit, You, Lord, will resist all the hatred that this Plaintiff, Hillary Clinton, has for President Trump. Stand as a wall of fire around our President so that no evil nor harm can touch him nor his efforts to stand tall and to make the United States of America a strong and honored nation. We pray in the powerful Name of Jesus Christ, amen.
- "For the seed shall be prosperous; the vine shall give her fruit, and the ground shall give her increase, and the heavens shall give their dew; and God will cause the remnant of this people to possess all these things." (Zechariah 8:12-13)
5. Democracy Alliance Descends on Atlanta to Plot 'Course for Progressive Power' - FreeBeacon
Prominent Democrats such as Terry McAuliffe and DNC chair Tom Perez attended the latest Democracy Alliance meeting this week in Atlanta, where party officials and liberal groups met behind closed doors with the millionaires and billionaires they rely on to fund the effort to regain "progressive power". The conference again featured only off-the-record events closed to members of the media. There was, however, a strong security presence at the hotel, where attendees were instructed to be careful with all conference materials and to dispose of conference documents only in specially identified secure recycling bins.
The message from Democracy Alliance leadership was that the movement has to avoid getting "too confident" and should "double down" on spending ahead of the 2018 midterms. The Democracy Alliance operates by recommending liberal organizations to wealthy alliance partners, who are each obligated to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars each year on supporting the approved groups such as the ACLU, the Women's March, Priorities USA, Media Matters for America, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, and Indivisible. According to the alliance's participation guidelines, the group "strives to create a safe place for progressive funders and movement leaders to meet and discuss issues of common interest and develop relationships through dialogue and networking."
A number of current and prospective state attorneys general who are "advancing a progressive agenda by leveraging the power of politics, policy, and litigation" also took part in the secretive conference. Mark Herring, the attorney general of Virginia; Karl Racine, the attorney general of the District of Columbia; Josh Shapiro, the attorney general of Pennsylvania; Josh Stein, the attorney general of North Carolina; and January Contreras, who is running for attorney general of Arizona, were all in attendance. Liberal billionaire Tom Steyer also updated attendees on his "Need to Impeach" campaign.
Most of the networking took place at the InterContinental's Bourbon Bar, where, for example, Wendi Wallace, Planned Parenthood's political outreach director, filled in longtime Democracy Alliance partner Billy Wimsatt on her group's revamped data operation. Wallace told Wimsatt she would introduce him to Deirdre Schifeling, Planned Parenthood's executive director, who could provide more detail on how the group's canvassers were rating voter enthusiasm to create more impactful voter files. Elsewhere at the Bourbon Bar was former Hillary Clinton aide Brian Fallon, who was at the conference to introduce donors to a new group he is launching, telling a table of other guests his plans to "crash" a Monday night dinner hosted by Terry McAuliffe on winning 2018 gubernatorial races.
- Father God, the weapon of our warfare is . . . to forgive. Just as Stephen the martyr said "do not hold this sin against them," as he was being slain; and as St. Paul forgave his captors and his tormentors while he was in prison, so shall we.
Lord God, we fear not, and we thank You that this battle is the Lord's, amen.
- "Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world." (I John 4:4)
6. Media Matters: Force Policy Changes at Tech Companies to Fight 'Fake News' - FreeBeacon
A group founded by liberal operative David Brock spoke of the need to force policy changes at Google, Facebook, and YouTube to combat the "proliferation" of "fake news" at the left's largest dark money donor conference, according to an agenda obtained by the Washington Free Beacon. The Democracy Alliance, a secretive group of deep-pocketed donors who each push hundreds of thousands of dollars to progressive groups approved by the network, held their spring investment conference this week at the five-star InterContinental Buckhead Hotel in Atlanta. Top Democrats such as Terry McAuliffe, who is often floated as a potential 2020 candidate for president, Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez, and billionaire "Need to Impeach" campaign leader Tom Steyer were in attendance.
The conference featured a heavy security presence and only members of the Democracy Alliance could enter the hallways where the sessions were being held. Free Beacon reporters, who were on site throughout the gathering, obtained the group's agenda and other documents that shed light on their discussions at the event. Media Matters President Angelo Carusone spoke on the "New Tactics for a New Challenge" panel at the conference where he was joined by Bradley Beychok, the president of American Bridge, another group founded and led by Brock. Carusone spoke to Democracy Alliance members about forcing social media giants to change their policies to combat fake news. "Media Matters President Angelo Carusone will describe the importance of mapping and understanding the fake news ecosystem and how forcing policy changes at Google, Facebook, and YouTube, can prevent the proliferation of fake news and suppressive tactics online in the lead up to the midterms," the event's description reads.
The group said that platforms such as Google and Facebook would "no longer uncritically and without consequence host and enrich fake news sites and propagandists" and vowed to "innovate against fake news and propaganda" by using big data analysis and an "early warning system," using predictive technology and collaborating with social media platforms. Media Matters wrote of consulting Facebook on right-leaning media sites. "After Facebook responded to our campaign by acknowledging the problem of fake news and agreeing to do something about it, we began a dialogue," the documents read. "It became clear from these conversations that Facebook needed our help in fully understanding the problem and identifying concrete solutions."
- Lord God, we pray that the Media Matters group who advocate fighting fake news streams will be guided by the assistance of You, God, so that the world will know and understand that the news they hear and believe will be filled with truth only and no lies or fake news allowed in the future. We pray this in the Name of Jesus.
- "The lip of truth shall be established forever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment." (Proverbs 12:19)
7. Cops Allege Corruption, Retaliation At The VA - Daily Caller
Four Veteran Affairs police officers say they feel like former NYPD officer Frank Serpico, battling alone against a corrupt and intransigent bureaucracy. The four VA cops - Tim Petoskey of the Seattle VA, John Moline of the Sheridan, Wyoming VA, Ghassan "Goose" Ghannoum of the Los Angeles VA, and Greg Chiles of the Fort Harrison, Montana VA - told their stories and often, much like Serpico, they were blowing the whistle on systemic corruption within the police department.
Petoskey reported on numerous issues in his department to the VA Office of Inspector General (VAOIG) - discrimination, gross mismanagement and misuse of overtime - and he said that an investigation led to then chief, deputy chief, patrol commander and operations commander all being terminated, but he still faced persistent retaliation throughout. "Anything you can think of- they've messed with my pay, given me poor performance evaluation, and taken my creds (his badge) and put me on desk duty," Petoskey said.
Moline said that even after his disclosures turned into a purported investigation of systemic corruption into the department, that investigation quickly turned into one against those making the disclosures. Since January 2018, he's been detailed - or put into temporary desk duty - and has remained in that status for the last 13 weeks while the investigation into his behavior continues. "One of the most important things to take into consideration is that there is no depth to the type of retaliation the VA is willing to commit, predominantly stemming from retaliation against whistleblowers, such as myself," Ghannoum said.
- Almighty God, look upon all the evil and corrupt activity of the Veterans Affairs Administration and assign angels who will walk the land and clear out all lawlessness that is there. Replace the ungodly with the godly, O Lord. We pray Your protection be around Petoskey for exposing this corruption. We pray in the Name of Jesus, amen.
- "These are the things that you shall do; Speak every man the truth to his neighbor; execute the judgment of truth and peace in Your gates." (Zechariah 8:16)
8. Trump admin announces abstinence-focused overhaul of teen pregnancy program - The Hill
The Trump administration will shift federal funding aimed at reducing teen pregnancy rates to programs that teach abstinence. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced Friday the availability of grants through the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program, (TPPP) a grant program created under former President Obama that funds organizations and programs working to reduce teen pregnancy rates. Trump's HHS announced, however, that unlike under the Obama administration, grants will be geared toward organizations that teach abstinence education to teens instead of the comprehensive sex ed approach the previous administration supported.
In a funding announcement released Friday, the administration announced two tiers of funds for the TPP program. In the first, grantees would have to follow one of two abstinence programs to receive funding. One of the programs uses a "sexual risk reduction model," which is designed to reduce sexual risk behaviors. The other program uses a "sexual risk avoidance model," which teaches teens to avoid sex completely. "Projects will clearly communicate that teen sex is a risk behavior for both the physical consequences of pregnancy and sexual transmitted infections; as well as sociological, economic and other related risks," the funding announcement reads. "Both risk avoidance and risk reduction approaches can and should include skills associated with helping youth delay sex as well as skills to help those youth already engaged in sexual risk to return toward risk-free choices in the future."
- Father God, we praise You for this news! Thank You, Lord Jesus, that our President will now release substantial funding and resources to allow our youth to be taught strategies of abstinence education. We ask that these programs be successful, so that the rate of teen pregnancies would plummet. In Your Name, amen.
- "Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in the lusts thereof." (Romans 6:12)
9. Several Christian Leaders Walk Out After Evangelical Meeting Turns to Trump-Bashing - CBN News
CBN News has confirmed that at least a few people walked out of an intense invite-only evangelical meeting this week at Wheaton College after the affair turned into "crazy Trump bashing." The two-day gathering involved a group of faith leaders and was billed as a discussion of the evangelical movement in light of Trump's presidency. Two sources with intimate knowledge of the meeting say the first day turned into a lot of "one-sided venting" against President Trump and the majority of evangelicals who voted for him. Both sources confirm that the issue of sin came up in discussing how evangelicals could vote for Trump. "The conversations were difficult," according to one source who attended both days of the meeting. "There was a lament." It's important to note that no members of President Trump's faith advisory group were present or ever officially invited. Rather, this group of evangelicals consisted of many who hold more moderate or progressive views on certain public policy issues.
Johnnie Moore, an unofficial spokesman for the faith advisory council, was among the many pro-Trump evangelicals not invited. "We don't take it personally; we just pray for them," Moore said in a statement to CBN News. "I've said it many, many times, but I'll say it again: we have been honored to fight to protect religious liberty that even extends to protecting the rights of those who disagree with us on religious grounds, even when they are unkind." In total, the meeting included about 50 faith leaders and scholars and was spearheaded by Doug Birdsall, Rev. Dr. Gabriel A. Salguero and Jenny Yang. Salguero was appointed as a member of President Obama's Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships and has spoken at the Democrat National Committee Convention in the past. Other attendees included Timothy Keller, A.R. Bernard, Mark Labberton and Ed Stetzer.
- Lord God, we trust that You will stand against every adverse word spoken against President Trump by Douig Birdsall, Dr. Salguero, Jenny Yang, Timothy Keller, Mr. Brnard, Mark Labberton and Ed Stetzer. God, put their words under the Blood of Jesus to wash them clean and have no affect against protecting religious liberty. We ask You to forgive them, Lord, for they know not what they do. We pray in the Name of Jesus, amen.
- "Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this." (Isaiah 9:7)
10. Government Accidentally Releases Documents on "Psycho-Electric" Weapons - Popular Mechanics
The government has all kinds of secrets, but only a true conspiracy theorist might suspect that "psycho-electric weapons" are one of them. So it's odd that MuckRock, a news organization that specializes in filing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests with state and federal government bodies, received mysterious documents about mind control, seemingly by accident. Journalist Curtis Waltman was writing to the Washington State Fusion Center (WSFC), a joint operation between Washington State law enforcement and the federal government to request information about Antifa and white supremacist groups. He got responses to the questions he asked, but also a file titled "EM effects on human body.zip."
At least some of the images appear to be part of an article in Nexus magazine describing a 1992 lawsuit brought by one John St. Clair Akewi against the NSA. Akewi claimed that the NSA had the "ability to assassinate US citizens covertly or run covert psychological control operations to cause subjects to be diagnosed with ill mental health" and was documenting their alleged methods. Nexus was, and still is, an Australian magazine focused on the unexplained, conspiracy theories, alternative medicine and the like. It covered Akewi's case in 1996 but was unable to get Akewi to discuss it further: "I tried ringing Mr Akwei to find out what was the out-come, if any, of his court case. He firmly but kindly told me that he could not speak about anything to do with the case over the phone and hung up," reads an editor's note at the end of the article. The federal government has absolutely experimented with mind control in a variety of methods, but the documents here do not appear to be official. Waltman had no idea why these documents were included in his request and isn't sure why the government is holding them. The WSFC did not respond to requests for more information.
- Almighty God, we pray in the Name of Jesus that the subject of Psycho-Electric weapons will be overshadowed by the divine hand of our God. We also pray that no one will be victims to this cause. Deliver and set free anyone who has been induced into this form of mind control. Protect anything dealing with this subject under the Blood of Jesus. We pray in Your Name and thank You for answering this prayer.
- "Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled." (Titus 1:15)

Socialism looms as ungodly as it is
The New York Times (NYT) is reporting that there are an increasing number of candidates running for various offices as socialists. Of course, they are running under the Democratic Party ticket, and there have been many of them over the years. It's just that nowadays they are admitting that they are socialists. That they would be so bold as to not hide their true affiliation is a testimony to the condition of our nation. Millennials, the NYT says, are far more receptive of socialism because of issues like pay equality, high student debt, an uncertain job market, and high rent. Interesting how this generation blames capitalism for what socialism actually created, but the trend toward socialism is here.
The NYT reports that the election of Donald Trump convinced tens of thousands that both parties were broken and that the country was in need of a radical fix. Young people, NYT says, are turning to socialism. A 2016 survey of 18-29 year olds by Harvard's Institute of Politics "found that 16 percent identified as socialists, while 33 percent supported socialism." Some 51% said they did not support capitalism. These young people do not understand that Socialism takes away freedom, especially economic freedom. It was the Marxist ideals of the former "president" who inflated student loans by government taking them over. Healthcare costs skyrocketed under socialist healthcare while services declined. We all could retire millionaires if the money we contributed to Social Security was properly invested, not pillaged by the government.
William Bradford described the Pilgrim's failed socialist experiment of The Virginia Company Charter in "Of Plymouth Plantation": "The experience that was had in this common course and condition, tried sundry years and amongst godly and sober men, may well evince the vanity of that conceit of Plato's and other ancients applauded by some of later times; that the taking away of property and bringing in community into a commonwealth would make them happy and flourishing, as if they were wiser than God." Bradford was familiar with Plato's "Republic" espousing a utopian society under socialism. In ending this experiment that nearly cost the colony their lives, Bradford wrote: "...God in his wisdom saw another course fitter for them." This was the first capitalist system and the Plymouth colony then prospered.
Even many Christians believe in socialism, citing Acts 2:44, "And all that believed were together and had (shared) all things in common." There is a tremendous difference between voluntarily sharing and being forced to share the fruits of your labor by the government. Socialism has its roots in communism. The Communist Manifesto requires that all religion and morals be abolished; that government replaces God. All wealth is redistributed so that everyone has the same-everyone would be forced to pay for the student loans, healthcare, rent and wages of others. This is a far cry from the blessing of voluntarily sharing with others. The first commandment, Exodus 20:1 says, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." That includes government. Moreover, Bradford is still right. Man is not wiser than God. Young people would be wise to heed his advice.
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

ALL THE WAY MY SAVIOR LEADS ME
"The Lamb . . . will lead them to springs of living water." (Revelation 7:17)
ALL THE WAY MY SAVIOR LEADS ME
"The Lamb . . . will lead them to springs of living water." (Revelation 7:17)
All the way my Savior leads me;
What have I to ask beside?
Can I doubt His tender mercy,
Who through life has been my guide?
Heav'nly peace, divinest comfort,
Here by faith in Him to dwell!
For I know, whate'er befall me,
Jesus doeth all things well;
For I know, whate'er befall me,
Jesus doeth all things well.
All the way my Savior leads me,
Cheers each winding path I tread;
Gives me grace for every trial,
Feeds me with the living bread.
Though my weary steps may falter,
And my soul athirst may be,
Gushing from the rock before me,
Lo! A spring of joy I see;
Gushing from the rock before me,
Lo! A spring of joy I see.
All the way my Savior leads me
O the fullness of His love!
Perfect rest to me is promised
In my Father's house above.
When my spirit, clothed immortal,
Wings its flight to realms of day
This my song through endless ages-
Jesus led me all the way;
This my song through endless ages-
Jesus led me all the way.
Please go here.

Words: Fanny Crosby and W. Howard Doane, 1875
Melody: Robert Lowry
About the Hymn:
Fanny Crosby had been the recipient of a very unexpected temporal blessing, and while seated in her quiet room, meditating on the goodness of God to her and all his ways, this hymn flashed into her mind. It was written out and given to Robert Lowry, who wrote the fine tune which has given it wings, and carried it into millions of homes and hearts. - Ira Sankey

'Ring of Fire' fury strikes Alaska, Philippines, Japan
The volatile "Ring of Fire" seismic fault system contributed to a deluge of calamities Tuesday, encompassing the large earthquake off the coast of Alaska that triggered tsunami alerts across the U.S. West Coast and volcanic eruptions thousands of miles away in Japan and the Philippines. More than half the world's active volcanoes located above ground are in this ring, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The region is the location of most of Earth's subduction zones, where oceanic plates slide under the lighter continental plates. Earthquakes tend to happen when those plates scrape or subside underneath each other, and when that happens at sea it can spawn tsunamis.
Twelve people, including eight soldiers, skiing on the slopes of a volcano in central Japan were injured Tuesday by flying rocks during a sudden eruption of Mount Kusatsu-Shirane that also triggered an avalanche officials said. One soldier later died from his injuries. Four skiers were injured when rocks shattered the windows of a ropeway gondola, NHK World reported. The Japan Meteorological Agency has since banned access to the mountain, and a large swath of the snow-capped volcano was covered by dark gray ash later in the day. "I was scared to death," a 71-year-old man from Tokyo who was riding in the gondola told the Kyodo News. The man said the gondola was halted for about 30 minutes and two stones smashed the windows.
A large 7.9 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Alaska early Tuesday sparked tsunami warnings and watches that spanned all the way to the U.S. West Coast. After a few intense hours, the tsunami warning was canceled, allowing people to return home from shelters. There were no immediate reports of damage, not even on Kodiak Island, the closest land to the epicenter of the quake, according to officials. People reported on social media that the quake was felt hundreds of miles away, in Anchorage. Reports varied about how long the quake's shaking lasted, depending on where people were located.
The Philippines' most active volcano erupted three more times on Tuesday, which happened one day after officials raised Mount Mayon's alert level to four on a scale of five. The eruptions sent lava fountains gushing up to 2,300 feet above Mayon's crater and ash plumes rose up to 1.9 miles Monday night.
"We couldn't sleep last night because of the loud rumblings. It sounded like an airplane that's about to land," Quintin Velardo, a 59-year-old farmer, told the AP at an evacuation center in nearby Legazpi city where he took his wife, children and grandchildren on Tuesday. More than 56,000 villagers have fled to evacuation centers so far as the eruptions become increasingly dangerous. The volcano last erupted in 2014, according to Reuters. (Fox News) Read more.

Christian Film Festival Creates Launching Pad for Faith-Based Filmmakers
[CharismaNews.com] The International Christian Film and Music Festival is coming to Orlando, Florida, from May 1-5. The annual competition, now in its sixth year, gives Christian content creators a place to network, hone their skills and find distributors for family-friendly content.
David Hoenig and Susan Crampton, two of the event's founders, say the show has grown from 50 attendees its first year to over 10,000 this year. Though the event has been just a film festival in past years, this year's event adds music.
"This year we decided to bring in music into it to show people how music and film come together and how to mash that up," Crampton said. "Because you can't have film without music."
From May 2-5, the festival will screen hundreds of original films, ranging from short student films to feature-length productions and documentaries. The event kicks off May 1 with a special performance by the Newsboys. The event culminates in an award show Crampton calls the "Christian Oscars."

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners
Our Mission Statement
Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].
Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
Friends may participate by receiving our daily prayer alerts. You may contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. CHPP is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt ministry. Thank you and God bless you!

"By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work." (Genesis 2:2)
We have now completed the reading of the Whole Word of God, from Genesis to Revelation . . . 36 times! We praise God for the literal hundreds who have joined us over the past year and a half to accomplish this feat, and we know that our Lord must be deeply pleased to have heard His Word read back to Him . . . 36 times.
> > > As we meditated upon this milestone, we were visited by the hush of the Holy Spirit, so we waited upon Him for a word. Our Lord reminded us that, in His own week of working, that after six days . . . He RESTED.
Abba shared with us that we have now entered a NEW SEASON in our readings . . . one that would include a "seventh day rest" for the people of God.
And so, beginning this week, our Readathon WILL continue (as above) for SIX DAYS, but will be suspended on Sunday mornings, 12:01 a.m. to 6:00 a.m., that we might rest before Him and dwell in His presence, abiding even more deeply in Him.
It is written: "So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God." (Hebrews 4:9)
We welcome you back every Monday night through Saturday morning, and then we wish you . . . shalom!
