First Lady Makes Christmas Visit to Children's National Hospital
in Washington, DC.
(Part Two - Melania Trump's Favorite Christmas Traditions)
Editor's note:
Yesterday, we reported that Mrs. Trump's favorite Christmas Carol is "O Holy Night." Today we will continue this report, with more news from Mrs. Trump's visit, and her conversation with the children there.
. . . Another child asked the first lady what her favorite family Christmas traditions were. She replied that, on Christmas Eve, they have dinner, then they go either to midnight mass on Christmas Eve or mass on Christmas Day. They have another dinner on Christmas Day, Santa Claus visits on that day, and they open presents and spend family time together.

1. 'Palestinian state may not be viable,' Netanyahu tells EU leaders - World Israel News
Rather than repeat his support for a two-state solution, Prime Minister Netanyahu chose to tell European leaders that a "Palestinian state" may not be viable. Asked directly whether he still supports a two-state solution, Netanyahu responded by asking the 28 EU foreign minister whether such a state would be like "Costa Rica or Yemen?" The message was not lost on his hosts. The former is a stable democracy in Central America, while the latter is in a state of war-blighted anarchy.
Netanyahu told reporters on his plane home that European nations "spoil" the Palestinians while US President Donald Trump, by recognizing Jerusalem as Israelis capital was, "telling them the truth."

2. Two Palestinian Islamic Jihad militants killed in Gaza - Jerusalem Post
The IDF denies carrying out a strike in northern Gaza on Tuesday that killed two members of Islamic Jihad in Beit Lahiya.
According to the Palestinian Maan News agency, sources close to Islamic Jihad said that the men - Hussein Ghazi Hussein Nasrallah, 25, and Mustafa Sultan, 29 - were members of the group's armed wing, Saraya al-Quds, and had been working for its Northern Brigade's engineering unit.
The terrorist group later posted a statement on its website saying that the two men were on a "jihadist mission," and did not blame their deaths on Israel.
Earlier Palestinian reports said that the two men were killed in a targeted strike by an Israeli drone. The army quickly released a statement denying any part in the incident.

3. Soleimani Says Iran Is Ready to Back Palestinian Forces - Bloomberg
Iranian Revolutionary Guards commander Qassem Soleimani says his nation is ready to support Palestinian forces in the Gaza Strip, days after the U.S. recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital. Soleimani, commander of the Al Quds force, made the offer in a phone call late Monday with leaders of groups in Gaza, according to the Revolutionary Guard Corps' website, Sepah News, which didn't give details of the assistance proffered. Other forces in the region are ready to defend the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem, Soleimani also told the Gaza faction leaders, without identifying them. The mosque is Islam's third-holiest shrine and a frequent flashpoint for tensions between Israel and the Palestinians.
Palestinians claim Jerusalem's eastern sector, where the mosque stands, as the capital of a future state, and they oppose the U.S. move. Hamas has called for another uprising against Israel in response, though so far protests have been limited.

4. IDF: Rocket from Gaza lands in southern Israel, no injuries - Jerusalem Online
A red alert rocket siren was sounded in Israeli towns surrounding the Gaza Strip around 10:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The IDF Spokesperson's Unit said a rocket had landed in an open field. There were no reports of injuries or damage. Earlier on Tuesday, a rocket was launched toward Israelfrom the northern Gaza Strip and exploded on the Palestinian side of the fence.
Palestinian media sources reported on Tuesday that two Palestinian Islamic Jihad members were killed in an explosion while riding their motorcycles. The circumstances that led to the explosion are still not clear. The IDF has denied accusations that Israel was involved in the incident.

5. IDF attacks Hamas military compound - Israel National News
The IDF attacked a military compound belonging to the Hamas terrorist organization in southern Gaza overnight Tuesday, the IDF Spokesperson's Unit said. The statement added that the airstrike was carried out in retaliation for the earlier rocket fire from Gaza.
The "Red Alert" incoming rocket siren was heard on Tuesday evening at around 10:47 p.m. in two localities in the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council in southern Israel. Upon investigation, the IDF Spokesperson's Office stated that it appeared that a rocket had been fired from Gaza into Israeli territory. It is believed the rocket exploded in an open area. No physical injuries or damages were reported.

6. Major world leader threatens to wipe out Jews - WND
President Obama praised Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as "a man of action" and one of the five world leaders with whom he had the strongest bond. President Trump met with him at the White House last spring.
And certainly Erdogan has tried to portray himself to Western leaders as a pragmatist with whom they can work.
But at a convention of his ruling party Sunday, Erdogan invoked a Muslim hadith - a collection of the accounts and sayings of Muhammad - that made clear his view of Jews and the state of Israel, according to dissident Turkish journalist Abdullah Bozkurt, the Investigative Project on Terrorism reported.
"Those who think they own Jerusalem better know that tomorrow they won't be able to hide behind trees," Erdogan said, according to Bozkurt.

1. Alabama Election Results: Doug Jones Defeats Roy Moore in U.S. Senate Race - New York Times
Doug Jones, a Democrat, won the special election on Tuesday to fill the United States Senate seat vacated by Jeff Sessions, now the attorney general. Mr. Jones aimed to create a lead in the urban counties that include Birmingham and Montgomery, and across a band of largely black counties. Strong support for Roy S. Moore, the Republican, was expected in rural, mostly white parts of the state and in its northern half.
One critical battleground was a trio of smaller, whiter cities: Mobile, Tuscaloosa and Huntsville. Mr. Moore won a hard race in 2012 by keeping things close there. Our estimates are based on the results reported so far, the results of previous elections and demographic data. Unlike reported results, they attempt to account for precincts that have not yet reported their votes. The shaded area in the gauge below shows the range of our forecasts. Right now, our most likely estimates span Jones +2.2 to Jones +0.5. The more we know, the narrower our range will be. (Read more)
- Father, we pray for Senator-elect Doug Jones to represent the people of Alabama and their interests well. May he have a genuine experience with You and understand the responsibility You have given him. If a recount is required by State law, we ask for a true recording of today's vote to be released. In Your Name, amen.
- The Father loves the Son and has given him power over everything. (John 3:35)
2. Evangelical Leaders Pray With Trump in Oval Office, Present Him 'Friends of Zion' Award - Christian Post
Top conservative evangelical leaders prayed with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office again on Monday afternoon and also presented him with a "Friends of Zion" award after his decision last week to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Evangelical leaders who have been involved in advising the Trump administration participated in an end-of-the-year briefing that included comments from Vice President Mike Pence, White House advisor Jared Kushner and Trump's daughter, Ivanka, a participant in the meeting told The Christian Post.
Evangelical figures such as Family Research Council's Tony Perkins, James Dobson of Family Talk Radio, televangelist Paula White, Dallas megachurch pastor Robert Jeffress, African-American pastor Harry Jackson and former Southern Baptist Convention president Jack Graham joined other evangelical leaders for what has been described as a "working lunch" in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. Perkins told CP in a phone interview that during the lunch, he and the others were told all about the list of things that the Trump administration has accomplished for social conservatives and evangelicals during his first year in the Oval Office. After the meeting in the executive building, Perkins said that evangelical leaders made their way to the White House for a meeting in the Oval Office that lasted about 15 to 20 minutes and ended with them praying with the president.

3. Trump Signs NDAA While Pence, Mattis, Service Members Look On - Washington Free Beacon
President Donald Trump spoke about the accomplishments of the Fiscal Year 2018 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) on Tuesday before he signed the act into law. Trump, surrounded by Vice President Mike Pence, Secretary of Defense James Mattis, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Gen. Joseph Dunford, and other service members, remarked how the legislation "represents a momentous step toward rebuilding our military."
"The National Defense Authorization Act could not come at a more opportune or important time. This legislation represents a momentous step toward rebuilding our military and securing the future for our children," Trump said. "I applaud the work of the members of both parties who came together to pass the National Defense Authorization Act, which passed with overwhelming bipartisan support-something that sounds very nice to my ears." The NDAA is the legislation that allows the U.S. military to be funded. Without it, projects would come to a halt and personnel may not be paid. Trump also called for an end to defense sequestration, which has cut funding on defense drastically, harming the military. Military leaders have repeatedly said that it is damaging the readiness of America's military.

- Father, we pray as this appropriation is spent, our leaders will use wisdom and ask for Your guidance, making the best decisions as they build up our military.
- If you do not have wisdom, ask God for it. He is always ready to give it to you and will never say you are wrong for asking. (James 1:5)
4. Women accusing Trump of sexual misconduct seek congressional probe - Reuters
Three women who have accused U.S. President Donald Trump of sexual misconduct called on Monday for a congressional investigation into his behavior amid a wave of similar accusations against prominent men in Hollywood, the media and politics. Over the past two years, more than a dozen women have accused Trump of making unwanted sexual advances against them years before he entered politics. Three of his accusers, Jessica Leeds, Rachel Crooks, and Samantha Holvey said at a news conference on Monday that the accusations warranted new consideration given the broader discussion of sexual harassment in U.S. society.
Brave New Films, a nonprofit filmmaker, [funded by George Soros's Open Society Foundation] produced a video featuring 16 of Trump's accusers and organized the news conference in New York on Monday. In the film, women accused Trump of kissing them without permission, grabbing their private parts, putting his hand up their skirts, or making other unwanted advances.

- Father, we pray for President Trump to be delivered from the hands of his enemies, who appear to be using these women for political gain. We pray ulterior motives will be exposed, even by the filmmaker and those who are financing this project.
- These are the kind of people who go from house to house. They talk to foolish women who are loaded down with sins and all kinds of sinful desires. But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. (2 Timothy 3:6,13)
5. Trump lawyer wants separate special prosecutor to probe DOJ-Fusion conflicts - FoxNews
A top member of President Trump's outside legal team called Tuesday for the appointment of a separate special prosecutor to look into potential conflicts of interest involving Justice Department and FBI officials. Jay Sekulow made the call following a Fox News report revealing that the wife of a DOJ official demoted for concealing his meetings with the firm behind the anti-Trump "dossier" herself worked for the same firm, Fusion GPS, during the 2016 election. Sekulow told Fox News that a special prosecutor should be appointed to look into these issues.
"The Department of Justice and FBI cannot ignore the multiple problems that have been created by these obvious conflicts of interests. These new revelations require the appointment of a Special Counsel to investigate," Sekulow also told Axios. Trump's team is not at this point making any formal petition seeking a special prosecutor, but is making its views known. Sekulow stressed that this call is not connected to Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russia meddling investigation or Trump's confidence in Mueller.

- Father, the conflicts of interest in these cases have been breathtaking. We pray for full exposure of the conflicts, and if a special prosecutor is needed, that one will be appointed.
- They devise crafty schemes against your people; they conspire against your precious ones. (Psalm 83:3)
6. Andrew McCabe Postpones House Intel Interview Amid Dossier Developments - Daily Caller
Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe on Monday night reportedly postponed an appearance before the House Intelligence Committee that was scheduled for Tuesday. The abrupt cancellation occurred following a report by Fox News that raised new questions about connections between the Justice Department and Fusion GPS, the opposition research firm behind the infamous Trump dossier. Fox News reported that McCabe's interview will be rescheduled for next week. The Justice Department told the network that the cancellation was due to a "routine scheduling error." A Congressional source told The Daily Caller that the excuse is "very hard to believe."
Republicans on the committee have struggled to obtain meetings with FBI and DOJ officials - including McCabe and Strzok - to discuss the dossier. Republicans want to know how much the FBI relied on the salacious document to form the basis of the collusion investigation and whether the unverified report was used to obtain surveillance warrants against members of the Trump campaign.

- Father, we pray the House Intelligence Committee will truly get all of their questions answered - and that You would give them wisdom about what questions to ask.
- He reveals deep and mysterious things and knows what lies hidden in darkness, though he is surrounded by light. (Daniel 2:22)
7. DoD: Transgenders May Apply for Military Service in 3 Weeks - CNS News
Compelled by recent court orders, the Defense Department says it will begin processing transgender applicants for military service on January 1, 2018. "This policy will be implemented while the Department of Justice appeals those court orders," the Defense Department said. President Trump announced his policy in three tweets last July, writing: "After consultation with my Generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States Government will not accept or allow Transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military. Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail. Thank you."
The American Civil Liberties Union sued the Trump administration over the transgender ban in August, and a federal court in the District of Columbia recently ordered the Defense Department to implement the Obama-era policy on transgenders. And then on Monday, a federal court in Seattle ordered an immediate halt to the transgender ban while a lawsuit brought by activist groups proceeds. The Trump administration is now "actively pursuing relief from those court orders."

- Father, we pray for a quick reprimand for this activist federal judge. We pray his order would be vacated quickly, as the Commander in Chief, President Trump, has the authority to make this decision regarding recruitment and military readiness.
- Woe to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees.
(Isaiah 10:1)
8. NYC Terror Suspect Came to U.S. as Foreign Relative of 'Visa Lottery' Immigrant - Breitbart
The Bangladesh-born terror suspect who allegedly attempted to detonate a suicide-bomb in New York was able to enter the United States as a foreign relative of an immigrant, extended-family member who had won a visa to the U.S. under the Diversity Visa Lottery.
On Monday 27-year-old Akayed Ullah, a Bangladesh national, injured three individuals when he allegedly tried to detonate a suicide bomb in New York City in a planned terrorist attack. In a statement by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Ullah was able to enter the U.S. in 2011 as a foreign relative after one of his family members was awarded a Green Card in the Visa Lottery. As Breitbart News reported, Ullah was able to obtain a visa as the nephew of his Visa Lottery relative. This process of extended-family mass immigration to the U.S. is known as "chain migration."

9. New DHS Secretary Embraces Conservative Immigration Reforms - Daily Caller
Newly confirmed Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen sounded right at home among the Trump administration's immigration hawks on Tuesday, calling for major policy changes during one of her first public addresses as DHS chief. Appearing alongside Attorney General Jeff Sessions in Baltimore, she laid out several border security priorities for the department in the wake of another terrorist attack in New York City, but it was her remarks on structural immigration reform that stood out. Nielsen backed two significant changes to the U.S. immigration system - curtailing family-based immigration and doing away with the diversity visa lottery.
The reforms are needed to "better support our economy and assimilate immigrants," Nielsen said, echoing the arguments of conservative immigration reformers in Congress and President Donald Trump himself. Long the objects of conservatives' scorn, family-based immigration and the diversity visa lottery have become the subjects of national debate after two terror attacks in New York in the span of three months. The alleged perpetrators of both attacks migrated to the U.S. through the diversity visa lottery, in one case as a direct recipient and in the other as the relative of a diversity visa winner.

10. ICE Busts 100 in Operation Focusing on Criminal Aliens - Washington Free Beacon
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency announced Tuesday the arrest of 101 illegal immigrants, targeting criminal aliens, illegal re-entrants, and immigration violators, and including immigrants convicted of drug- and child-pornography-related offenses. The arrests were the product of a five-day operation in New Jersey, spearheaded by ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO). Among those arrested, 88 percent were convicted criminals, and 80 percent had prior felony convictions. Convictions of those arrested included a Mexican citizen convicted of sexual assault of a minor, a Turkish citizen convicted of possession of child pornography, a Spanish citizen convicted of storing/maintaining child pornography, and a Dominican and Korean citizen both charged with cocaine distribution.
"The continued results of our Fugitive Operations officers and their law enforcement partners underscore ICE's ongoing and steady commitment to public safety," said John Tsoukaris, field office director of ERO Newark. "As part of this operation, we continue focus on the arrest of individuals who are criminal and are a threat to public safety and national security. Because of the tireless efforts of these professional officers, there are 101 fewer criminals in our communities." The arrests follow ICE's announcement last week that more than 300,000 illegal immigrants were arrested in 2017. Those included over 110,000 administrative arrests by ICE, of which 92 percent were reported to have a criminal conviction or a pending criminal charge, be an ICE fugitive, or be an illegal re-entrant.

Why good men do nothing
Edmund Burke is credited with the quote: "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." Certainly, we are told by the Apostle Paul in Romans 12:21, "Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." In this case, the Greek word used for "overcome" can be interchanged with "conquer." We are not to be conquered by evil, but to conquer evil with good. So Burke's quote is quite right in the sense that if good men do nothing in the face of evil, evil with triumph. This is one of the problems we have with our political system. Year after year we elect the same kinds of people and we expect them to do what they say. We are mostly disappointed because of a lack of quality and character.
People have often asked about why we have such questionable candidates running for office. The choices, they say, are subpar. The short answer is that we need to recruit better candidates. That recruitment process starts at the local level, meaning that we should be involved at the precinct or county committee level and exercise our opinions on candidate selection. But even at that foundational level of all politics, there is built into the system these days a tremendous flaw. Those who run for office may start out believing they can make a difference, but the longer they are in politics and the higher the office they seek, the less in touch they are with their original values. It really is a true formula.
Over my years in politics, I saw really good people with great ideals slowly erode into minions for the party machine or other outside influences that "redirected" their thoughts and stances on issues they once held dear as non-negotiable. Moreover, the very essence of politics in today's environment would strongly discourage or even prevent a good person from running for office. Who in their right mind would subject their family, friends, business associates, or even themselves to a process that seeks as a price of entry the destruction of reputations built over a lifetime? Everything that was done by a candidate during his life is open to the twisting of half-truths or lies or worse by the opposition.
In many cases-and I know this is true because I am a veteran of political campaigns-a lie is spoken on purpose to get a willing reporter to write a story. Once the story is written, it has legs that can be run through the public, then used again in negative campaign ads, and can be recycled in debates, and so on. Often these lies are proven to be lies long after the election-long after the reputation is ruined, marriages are left on questionable ground, jobs are lost. This is what our political system has become. No good person would even enter the building politic knowing this risk. Hence, evil advances. It takes a special kind of person to put all at risk to overcome this evil. They are hard to find.
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Man With Down's Syndrome Testifies Before a Congressional Committee
"A caring society protects Down children"
Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger promoted a form of eugenics that called for sterilizing people or otherwise preventing the births of those she deemed to be unfit. That is also what is behind the abortion in more recent times of Down Syndrome babies.
Brian Clowes of Human Life International tells OneNewsNow he is concerned where that thinking will lead, recalling that Adolph Hitler did not begin with killing Jews, Gypsies, and Catholic priests.
He started out with handicapped children," Clowes recalls, "and when he found out that the German people would support the killing of handicapped children then he went on to other groups as well."
In Europe and the United States, approximately 95 percent of Down Syndrome babies are aborted even though those that are born are often able to be educated and join the workforce to lead productive lives.
"No one knows more about life with Down syndrome than I do," Frank Stephens (pictured above) proclaimed at a congressional hearing in November. "Whatever you learn today, remember this: I am a man with Down syndrome, and my life is worth living!"
The termination of Down Syndrome children is wrong, says the pro-lifer, and educating people is not the only answer.
"I think that we need a conversion of heart," he says, "because all of the education in the world is not going to help you if the situation happens to you and you don't really have a fundamental love of Jesus Christ, and of the love that He preached to us." (One News Now) Read more.

SILENT NIGHT
"There were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them." (Luke 2:8-9)
Lyrics
Silent night, holy night,
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon virgin mother and Child.
Holy Infant, so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace.
Silent night, holy night,
Shepherds quake at the sight;
Glories stream from heaven afar,
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!
Christ the Savior is born,
Christ the Savior is born!
Silent night, holy night,
Son of God, love's pure light;
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth,
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth.
Silent night, holy night
Wondrous star, lend thy light;
With the angels let us sing,
Alleluia to our King;
Christ the Savior is born,
Christ the Savior is born!

About the Author:
Words: Josef Mohr, circa 1816-1818.
Melody: Franz X. Gruber, circa 1820
About the Hymn: This hymn's history is the source of some disagreement. The traditional story is that Mohr and Gruber wrote it in Oberndorf, Austria, on Christmas Eve when they discovered the church organ was broken (different versions say it rusted out, or mice chewed through vital parts). However, recent evidence indicates this may be only folklore. An old manuscript has reportedly been discovered that shows Franz Gruber wrote the score 2-4 years after Mohr wrote the lyrics. Whatever the truth, this carol has been a Christmas favorite for almost 200 years.

Geminid Meteor Shower Peaks This Week!
How to See Year's Best Meteor Display
Were it not for this past summer's Great American Solar Eclipse, the most anticipated celestial event in 2017 would almost certainly be the upcoming performance of the Geminid meteor shower. This pre-Christmas display of celestial fireworks is due to reach its peak during the long, dark hours from Wednesday night (Dec. 13) into early Thursday morning (Dec. 14).
The moon will be a thin, waning crescent that won't rise until the predawn hours, when the Geminids reach their peak. This annual shower is as reliable as the Perseids of August and is now, according to British meteor expert Alastair McBeath, "one of the very best presently seen from the Earth."
You don't have to wake up in the predawn hours to get an eyeful of the Geminids; they are among a small minority of showers that are quite good before midnight.
The Geminid radiant - located near the bright star Castor in the constellation Gemini - is already a respectable 30 degrees high in the eastern sky as early as 9 p.m. (as seen from midnorthern latitudes).
When the radiant is anywhere close to overhead - say, by midnight - you may see as many as 100 to 120 Geminids per hour under an excellent dark sky. Keep in mind that light pollution and tall obstructions will significantly lower the number you see. When the radiant is 30 degrees up, expect about half that number - still roughly one per minute, on average.
