"Praying for All in Authority"

Wednesday, December 3, 2014

"Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing,

(Romans 15:13)

"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you . . ." (John 14:27a)

The Daily Brief

1. Obama's plan to shut down Guantanamo Bay detainee facility suffers major setback - Fox News

Obama's plan to close the federal prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba hit a major snag Monday as lawmakers finalizing the annual defense policy bill rejected steps to shut down the facility. The final defense bill will not have a provision giving the president the power to transfer terror suspects to the U.S. if Congress signs off on the plan, said Sen. Carl Levin. (Read more)

- Lord, We thank You that the House Defense Bill does not allow these terrorists to be brought to the USA from Guantanamo Bay. We pray that those that are ready to be released will not join ISIS or al-Qaida on their return to their native countries. We pray that You give our Congress a wise solution for the disposal of the rest of the terrorists. In His Name, Amen.

- Your right hand, O Lord, is majestic in power, Your right hand, O Lord, shatters the enemy.(Exodus 15:6)

2. FBI, Homeland Security Warn Vets Over ISIS Threat - in the US - Israel National News

US authorities are highly concerned that Islamic State (ISIS) is targeting its military servicemen - not only in the Middle East, but at home. An internal memo obtained by ABC News Monday night revealed that the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have asked veterans to carefully monitor their social media accounts in the threat's wake.

'The FBI and DHS recommend that current and former members of the military review their online social media accounts for any information that might serve to attract the attention of ISIL [ISIS] and its supporters,' the federal bulletin sent to law enforcement agencies Sunday said, advising that troops 'routinely exercise operational security in their interactions online. The FBI recently received reporting indicating individuals overseas are spotting and assessing like-minded individuals who are willing and capable of conducting attacks against current and former U.S.-based members of the United States military,' it added. (Read more)

- Abba Father, We thank You that You alone are God, and that You are our God. Thank You that no weapon formed against our veterans shall prosper and every tongue that accuses them in judgment, You will condemn. Thank You that You are their refuge and their fortress, our God in whom we trust. In His Name, Amen.

- "No weapon that is formed against you will prosper; And every tongue that accuses you in judgment you will condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their vindication is from Me," declares the Lord. (Isaiah 54:17)

3. U.S.-led Strikes Hit Islamic State 'Capital' - Voice of America

Syrian activists said a wave of U.S.-led airstrikes has been carried out against Islamic State militants in and around the city of Raqqa, the self-proclaimed capital of the jihadist group. The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Sunday as many as 30 strikes hit overnight and targeted Islamic State positions in Raqqa and the Division 17 air base, which the militants seized earlier this year from government forces. Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman said it has been "a long time" since this large a number of targets have been hit. A casualty toll was not immediately available. (Read more)

- Lord, we thank You for this victory. May we continue to defeat this enemy.

- He said, "Open the window toward the east," and he opened it. Then Elisha said, "Shoot!" And he shot. And he said, "The Lord's arrow of victory, even the arrow of victory over Aram; for you will defeat the Arameans at Aphek until you have destroyed them." (2 Kings 13:17)

4. U.S., Turkey Close to Deal on Joint Action against ISIS - Israel National News

The US and Turkey are close to an agreement on joint military action against the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist group in northern Syria, according to the Wall Street Journal. Citing officials from both the U.S. and Turkey, the paper reported that the proposed deal would allow the U.S. and its coalition partners access to Turkish air bases for launching air strikes.

The agreement would also provide for a no-fly zone along a section of the border between Turkey and Syria, which would be off limits to Syrian government aircraft and provide protection for 'moderate' Syrian rebels and refugees fleeing the country's civil war. Turkey has already agreed to allow 2,000 Syrian rebels from 'moderate' streams to be trained on its soil, and has sent members of its special forces to northern Iraq to train Kurdish Peshmerga fighters. (Read more)

- Dear Heavenly Father, These talks between Turkey and the USA are still not finalized. Lord, You alone are all wise and know all things. If this is a bad deal for the USA and the Kurds, then let it fail; but if it is a good deal, then let it be a success. In His Name, Amen.

- to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, be the glory forever. Amen.(Romans 16:27)

5. ISIS gains endorsement of Egyptian jihadis - WND

In the race between al-Qaida and the Islamic State to lead global jihad, Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has scored a big one in al-Qaida chief Ayman al-Zawahiri's own backyard of Egypt. Earlier this month, the Egyptian group Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis, or Defenders of Jerusalem, announced allegiance to ISIS, which gives Baghdadi a major foothold in the largest Sunni Arab country in the world. A Salafist jihadist group, Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis is based in the Sinai Peninsula and has carried out attacks in Cairo and the Sinai, from which it also has attacked Israeli targets as well. (Read more)

- Lord, ISIS and al-Qaida are in competition with each other. We pray that they annihilate each other as the enemies of Israel did in Biblical times. Lord release chaos, confusion and envy into their camps. In His Name, Amen.

- And blessed be God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand."(Genesis 14:20)

6. White House Shoots Down Petition to Declare Muslim Brotherhood a Terrorist Organization - Washington Free Beacon

The White House has officially rejected a 'We the People' petition calling for the U.S. Government to declare the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization after more than a year and 200,000 signatures. The petition, which was first posted on July 7, 2013, reached the necessary threshold for a response-100,000 signatures-within 30 days.

However, the White House failed to respond until Monday, when it issued an unequivocal 'no': (Read more)

- Father God, we repent that this administration refuses to acknowledge the enemy that threatens us all. We ask You to forgive those who are so blinded, for they know not what they do. If our government will not protect us from these MB thugs, then we ask You to do that for us. Come, Lord Jesus, and hear the cries of Your people. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

- "This is what the LORD says to you: 'Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God's." (2 Chronicles 20:15)

1. Danon: We Must Return to the Likud Way - Israel National News

MK Danny Danon, who heads the Likud Central Committee, on Tuesday evening said that elections could have been prevented, and said he hoped the Likud will learn the lesson from the coalition collapse.

"The makeup of the coalition undermined the governance, the mistake was that instead of forming a government with Bennett and the hareidi parties, [Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu] first of all added Tzipi Livni. That was a mistake, and we saw that Livni and Lapid did nothing but mess things up," Danon told Arutz Sheva, hours after Netanyahu fired FinanceMinister Yair Lapid (Yesh Atid) and Justice Minister Tzipi Livni (Hatnua), effectively disbanding the government.

He added that the Likud must not be complacent and return to its nationalist roots. (Read more)

2. Abbas decides to go it alone - Israel National News

Fed up with what he views as American procrastination, Israeli intransigence, and Hamas duplicity, Mahmoud Abbas has decided to go it alone.

The PA president stood before members of the Arab League in Cairo on Saturday to deliver a seminal speech of disillusionment. He outlined his plan for a series of unilateral moves in the coming weeks: joining international treaties; applying the precepts of the Fourth Geneva Convention to the Palestinian territories, purportedly banning settlement activity under international laws of occupation; acquiring a UN Security Council resolution recognizing "Palestine" on the 1967 borders and prescribing a timetable for Israel's withdrawal; and, finally, asking UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon for a "comprehensive vision on the international protection of the Palestinian people." 3. UN approves Arab-backed call for Israel to renounce nukes - Times of Israel

The UN General Assembly overwhelmingly approved an Arab-backed resolution Tuesday calling on Israel to renounce possession of nuclear weapons and put its nuclear facilities under international oversight.

The resolution, adopted in a 161-5 vote, noted that Israel is the only Middle Eastern country that is not party to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. It called on Israel to "accede to that treaty without further delay, not to develop, produce test or otherwise acquire nuclear weapons, to renounce possession of nuclear weapons" and put its nuclear facilities under the safeguard of the UN's International Atomic Energy Agency.

4. Bill aims to limit prime minister to two terms - Times of Israel

A new bill aims to limit prime ministers to just two terms in office in an effort to keep refreshing Israel's political leadership.

The legislation, proposed by MK Merav Michaeli of the opposition Labor Party, comes as Israel gears up for new elections that, according to polls, may see Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu win a fourth term at Israel's helm. (Read more)

5. Bennett, Netanyahu said to forge new alliance -Times of Israel

Economy Minister Naftali Bennett said Tuesday that he and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have forged a new alliance ahead of the expected upcoming election, the NRG website reported.

The Jordanian government arrested 21 members of the Muslim Brotherhood for smuggling weapons and money into the West Bank, Arab media reported this week.

7. Growing Evangelical Hispanic Population Steps Up Support for Israel - JSpace

Amid growing threats facing Israel at home and abroad, one of the fastest-growing ethno-religious groups in the U.S. is stepping up its support for the Jewish state.

At the forefront of the interests of America's Hispanic Evangelical Christian population is the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC)/Conela. Claiming to represent more than 100 million Hispanic Evangelicals in the U.S., NHCLC/Conela is now beginning to wield its considerable influence for the purpose of standing up for Israel. The Daily Jot

To survive, we must. . .

On October 29, 1941, a year after one of the darkest hours of World War II for Great Britain, Prime Minister Winston Churchill addressed his alma mater Harrow School. Here emerged one of the most famous quotes (which oft has been misquoted): "Never give in. Never give in. Never, never, never, never-in nothing, great or small, large or petty-never give in, except to convictions of honor and good sense. Never yield to force. Never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy." This quote will hopefully embolden you, encourage you, strengthen you as it did to Brits and their allies as they fought one of the gravest evils to darken the steps of mankind. We have a similar fight ahead.

This nation suffers a character crisis. The preaching of an extra-biblical, emotional, and self-indulgent gospel from the pulpit, and parenting children without morality and character has allowed this nation over the years to fall into a morass. We step up to do what we can; what we think is the best, but little changes. Even to the point of the last election--throwing out some of the trouble. Now we have a majority of people who claim they will turn things around. But, unfortunately, there are many of them who have been brought up in the same manner that is a reflection of what is not right about our country. So accountability must be held by each of us--we must never, never, never give in.

I visited the Senate to sit in on a hearing about sports and domestic violence. What little confidence I had in our elected leaders was even less after the hearing. These senators were ill-prepared and lacked understanding of not only the issue, but business and employment in general. While they were short on understanding, they were long on grandstanding. This was not a partisan characteristic. Senators from both sides were demanding that corporations pay for government programs to end domestic violence--programs with no proven track record. It seemed to me that domestic violence, which is a complex issue, was being boiled down to a very simple issue--shameless shakedown and wealth redistribution.

After promising to fight illegal alien amnesty, Speaker of the House John Boehner wants to put only "symbolic" language disagreeing with the "president" into legislation. My several emails to "The Speaker" on this very subject resulted in an email asking me to follow him on social media, and another thanking me for my continued support. Congress is ignoring its Constitutional duties. For America to survive, which means for you to survive, we must instill accountability in our elected officials. We must not give in. Psalm 94:16-17 says, "Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity? Unless the Lord had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence." Let us be silent no more. Let us be louder than those who usurp the will of the people and are drunk on their own power.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Abortion Rate Plummets

Abortions Fall to Record Low in U.S.

The number of reported abortions fell to a historic low in 2011, the federal government said this week in its annual tally of most of the nation's states.

There were 730,322 abortions in those 49 jurisdictions in 2011, with 91 percent occurring by the 13th week of gestation, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in its Abortion Surveillance report.

The abortion rate fell 5 percent and the abortion ratio fell 4 percent from the previous year, reaching "historic lows for all three measures of abortion," it said, referring to the absolute number of abortions, abortions as a share of pregnancies, and the abortion rate for the female population of childbearing age.

Prayer focus: Reading this article may cause a mixture of emotions. First, the good news is summarized in this statement: "The number of reported abortions fell to a historic low in 2011..." (as reported by the federal government). For this, we truly give God thanks. Second, after plowing through the statistics and percentages, we still see that more than 730,000 innocent lives were thrown away primarily for someone's convenience. Please keep praying. Intercede for God's mercy until these "personal choice" laws are overturned.
"Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter." (Prov. 24:11 NIV)

Emergency Prayer for Yemen

Christians in Yemen Face Escalating Persecution

Yemen is an incredibly dangerous place for Christians. On 29 June, the government escalated its efforts to identify and arrest Christian workers and Muslim Background Believers (MBB). Heightened security at the Sanaa airport has virtually prevented escape for many. One missionary team there is requesting urgent prayer, saying, "At the moment (unnamed for security reasons) is number one on National Security and Al Qaeda hit lists to be eliminated from this world. They are in front of (unnamed for security reasons) house with several vehicles, weapons, etc."

Although Christian workers face abduction, imprisonment, and possible death, MBBs usually face immediate death. For this reason, Christian workers are particularly concerned about new converts. The prayer request continues to say, "One of our team tortured for 33 days but has escaped and now safe but traumatized. Another four are also in danger, one an mbb. The situation in Sanaa is extremely critical. Communications are monitored like never before" [sic].

The situation is extremely dangerous at the moment as radical Muslims are ridding Yemen of Christians. However, this team is determined to stay in Yemen waiting for God to intervene in this country that desperately needs Him.

PRAYER REQUESTS

- Steadfastness and boldness for Christian workers and Muslim Background Believers in the face of increased persecution (Acts 4:29).

- God to confront persecutors for their sins against Christian workers. Pray for their eyes to be opened to the truth of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world (Acts 26:14).

- The Word to continue to spread to every tongue, tribe, and nation as we await that great and glorious day of the Lord (Matthew 24:14)!

Emergency Prayer for Afghanistan

Emergency Prayer for Afghanistan

From the International Prayer Council

Dear Friends,

Some friends of ours who serve in Afghanistan have just sent this report on the South African humanitarian workers that were killed in Kabul a couple days ago in a Taliban attack on their home. Please have a look and pray for the Christian humanitarian community at this time of loss, confusion and fear that they will be strong in the Lord and be able to continue their good work for Christ and the Afghan people.

"We would like to give you an update about what happened yesterday in Kabul. We received a phone call by our Country Director to pray for a South-African brother and his family and others in his house as the Taliban had attacked his house and there was firing going on in the house and even some explosions were heard. We started to pray right away and tried to get new information in between. Initially we did not know how many people were in the house and after I while it was clear that Werner and his two children, his son (about 18 years old) and his daughter (15 years) were in the house with local brothers. The wife Hannelie was out of the house and was close by.

A few hours later the news emerged from our friends in Kabul that the father, son and daughter were killed by the Taliban. About the Afghans we only found out that one of them was killed and we still don't know how the others escaped. The Taliban issued immediately a statement and said that this was a Christian missionary center. They must have watched the house of our brother and found out that he did have meetings there with local believers.

Werner and his family were there in Kabul for more than 10 years and are very dedicated and committed and mature Christens and they had a big impact on many Afghans. The have been key people in the work among local people. We knew them very well and we worked together on different occasions. They were very known in the community and his wife is a doctor and helped many foreigners and local people.

We all are shocked and grieving over this terrible attack against our dear brother and his family. His wife lost her husband and their two children. This comes on top of the attack against the International Church building in April and the killing of three Christian workers (foreigners) in the CURE clinic. Also there have been many attacks by Taliban recently in Kabul. On Thursday there were two separate bomb attacks by suicide bombers against foreigners. In one of them a guest house for foreigners was attacked. Also a British embassy official was killed.

Today it is the headlines in BBC news that the Police Chief of Kabul quits amid rising militant violence. The articles says "Kabul's police chief has resigned, following a surge in attacks by Afghan militants on foreigners in the city over the past two weeks." There were at least nine attacks in the last two weeks. Also on Thursday morning one of our most senior Afghan staff member suddenly died. He was working with us since the last more than 20 years and was in charge of all the work with the government officials and departments and has been a great help for our organisation. He left a big gap behind that we cannot easily close.

Please pray for our dear sister Hannelie who lost her husband and two children and all the foreigners and local friends in Afghanistan that were close to them.

This attack shows again that the Taliban are watching Christian organisations and their activities and are furious if they find out that they share the Gospel. We have no protection except the Lord and the Taliban are ruthless and are willing to sacrifice their lives to kill others."
Thanks for your prayers for Afghanistan and His people serving there.

Best regards in Christ,

John Robb, Chairman
International Prayer Council

The Good News Corner:

Surprise! Arabs and Jews Unite to Proclaim Messiah's Return

A new generation of Arab and Jewish followers of Jesus met together last week to strategize on how to "turn Israel upside down."

Two hundred and sixty Messianic Jewish and Arab pastors, youth leaders, evangelists, Bible-school teachers and ministry leaders gathered for a three-day council to discuss, study, pray and work together to effectively bring the Word of God in power to Arabs and Jews throughout the whole Land of Israel.

These seasoned men and women of faith embody decades of labor proclaiming the Gospel to local Arabs and Jews. Most have given up everything to preach Messiah to their unbelieving Muslim and Jewish families and friends. Despised because of their faith, they have lost jobs, suffered rejection and endured multiple other hardships, yet their passion to bring the Good News to their people remains unquenched.

"We will keep preaching and teaching the Word of God until it changes the people of Israel," declared one leading pastor. "We must be willing to suffer for the sake of the Gospel and keep going no matter what happens. God will accomplish His will through the power of His Word."

Scientists discover Earth protected by a Star Trek like invisible shield

Protecting Earth from "Killer Electrons"

An invisible shield, some 7,200 miles (11,600 km) above Earth, has been found blocking 'killer electrons' from bombarding our planet. These electrons can whip around the planet at near-light speed and have been known to threaten astronauts, fry satellites and damage space systems. If they hit Earth on a large scale, they could knock out power grids, radically changing the planet's climate and driving up rates of cancer. But while scientists know this mysterious shield exists, they are baffled as to how it formed and how exactly it works. (Frontline Desk) Read more.

Note: We ran this article on Monday, but are repeating it today, so that we can share the thoughts, below, from one of our prayer partners. Be sure to visit the link to see a photo of this amazing phenomenon for yourself!

I was amazed when I saw this. This is an answer to one of our many urgent prayers taken before the Throne. When we can't figure out how in the world He is going to intervene, He creates a way and surprises us. He is the God of the impossible who loves to "shock and awe" by doing such things as opening a sea and instantly drying the path for His children to walk securely upon to get to the other side. If He is deliberately blocking natural events from destroying earth, it means it is in His plans also to stop those who have evil intentions to destroy us with a man-made EMP- however He chooses.

"And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, He is the God; the LORD, He is the God." (1 Kings 18:39)

"Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid." (Matthew 14:27)

"This is the LORD's doing; it is marvelous in our eyes." (Psalm 118:23)
