The Daily Brief:

"Praying for All in Authority"

Wednesday, October 15, 2014

And Miriam answered them:

"Sing to the Lord,
For He has triumphed gloriously!
The horse and its rider
He has thrown into the sea!"

(Exodus 15:21)

"And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse . . ." (Rev. 19:1)

The Daily Brief

1. Second Ebola-infected nurse took domestic flight day before diagnosis
- Fox News

Amber Vinson, a nurse at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital who flew on a Frontier Airlines flight from Cleveland to Dallas-Fort Worth before being diagnosed with Ebola, is the latest Texas health care worker infected with the disease, according to her relatives and public records. (Read more)

- Father God, we turn to You, O Holy One, as news of this virus begins to spread across the nation. Whether it is indeed airborne, or can be contained through appropriate protocols, men can no longer pretend that they can control this outbreak. Hear us, O Lord, we pray! Cause the prayers of Your people to avail much, as they did for Kent Brantley and Nancy Writebol, and let us trust in Your Word to bring us safely through this crisis. In Jesus' name, we ask this prayer, amen and amen.

- " . . . if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them . . ." (Mark 16:18 NKJV)

2. City of Houston demands pastors turn over sermons - Fox News

The city of Houston has issued subpoenas demanding a group of pastors turn over any sermons dealing with homosexuality, gender identity or Annise Parker, the city's first openly lesbian mayor. And those ministers who fail to comply could be held in contempt of court.

"The city's subpoena of sermons and other pastoral communications is both needless and unprecedented," Alliance Defending Freedom attorney Christina Holcomb said in a statement. "The city council and its attorneys are engaging in an inquisition designed to stifle any critique of its actions."

ADF, a nationally-known law firm specializing in religious liberty cases, is representing five Houston pastors. They filed a motion in Harris County court to stop the subpoenas arguing they are "overbroad, unduly burdensome, harassing, and vexatious." (Read more)

- Lord God, once again we turn to You for help in time of need. We thank you for the courage of these five pastors, who have said they would even go to jail before they obey this law. Bless them, Lord.

We take this decree into the High Court of Heaven and, by Your Grace and in Your Name, we declare this edict to be null and void through the shed blood of the Lamb. As we repent before You, Abba, we ask that the hand of tyranny be lifted from our people, so that the religious freedom we have always embraced as American citizens never be abrogated. We ask this, and decree this, in Jesus' name, amen and amen.

- (For Houston) "Take counsel together, but it will come to nothing; Speak the word, but it will not stand, For God is with us." (Isaiah 8:10)

3. Franklin Graham:
'Activist Judges' Overturning Same-Sex Marriage Bans
- Newsmax

The Rev. Franklin Graham said Monday that "activist judges" are to blame in the legalization of same-sex marriage.

Graham, son of the Rev. Billy Graham and CEO of Samaritan's Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, was specifically referring to his home state of North Carolina. Sixty-one percent of the state's residents, according to the Christian Post, were against same-sex marriages but a federal judge in the state recently overturned the ban on the practice anyway.

"It's sad when a judge is able to overrule the will of the people," Graham told WCNC Charlotte, an NBC affiliate, on Monday. "This is a democracy, and the people spoke, and we're seeing that activist judges across the country are overturning the will of the people. We saw that in California. We're now seeing it here in North Carolina now. I don't know what will take place." (Read more)

- Father God, we pray that the nation will listen to the words of this man of God, and take heed. Whether the issue is same-sex "marriage" or abortion, the pattern is the same: activist judges are bringing our nation into a state of moral decline.

Lord God, help us to remember this fact next month when we go to the polls. For those of us who have a direct "say so" in the selection of these judges, help us to stop, think, and vote with wisdom on November 4th. Help us, O Lord, we pray, amen and amen.

- " . . . but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." (Joshua 24:15)

4. Supreme Court Sides With Abortion Advocates in Texas, Blocking Law That Closed Clinics - CNSNews.com

The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday blocked key parts of a 2013 law in Texas that had closed all but eight facilities providing abortions in America's second most-populous state.

In an unsigned order, the justices sided with abortion rights advocates and health care providers in suspending an Oct. 2 ruling by a panel of the New Orleans-based U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals that Texas could immediately apply a rule making abortion clinics statewide spend millions of dollars on hospital-level upgrades.

The court also put on hold a provision of the law only as it applies to clinics in McAllen and El Paso that requires doctors at the facilities to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals. The admitting privileges rule remains in effect elsewhere in Texas.

Justices Samuel Alito, Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas said they would have ruled against the clinics in all respects. (Read more)

- Lord God, Franklin Graham was right: we are now saddled with activist judges -- even in the highest court in the land - who are bent on doing their own will rather than obeying Your law. Lord God, we weep between the porch and the altar, and we cry out in this Shmita year, for mercy. Lord God, please take note of the many in our land who still weep over the sins of our nation, and show us Your Hand of mercy in the midst of judgment. Wake up the lost while there is still time, Lord God. We ask this in Your name, amen.

- "Now the glory of the God of Israel went up from above the cherubim, where it had been, and moved to the threshold of the temple. Then the LORD called to the man clothed in linen who had the writing kit at his side and said to him, "Go throughout the city of Jerusalem and put a mark on the foreheads of those who grieve and lament over all the detestable things that are done in it." (Ezekiel 9:3,4)

5. Obama Declares War - On the Clintons - Red State

For Hillary Clinton to win in 2016, she has to convince Americans that big government did not fail them, just Barack Obama failed them. She has to throw him under the bus. That's why we're seeing Clinton allies like Leon Panetta throw the President under the bus in his foreign policy handling. So Obama will return fire at the Clintons'. Their policies failed. They've kept the average person's income from going up. (Read More)

- Father God, the intrigues of the 2016 elections have started, and the 2014 elections have not yet taken place. Lord, we ask for Your protection for the USA, and we ask that Your candidates with Your values come forward. Lord, no more pro-death candidates and no more pro-homosexual candidates. We want godly, wise candidates. Have mercy on us.

- "A wise man will hear and increase in learning, And a man of understanding will acquire wise counsel."(Proverbs 1:5)

6. Deadly storm rips through US states - The Guardian

A powerful storm has swept across the southern US, killing at least two people and injuring several others. Tornadoes, high winds, lightning, hail and heavy rain left a trail of destruction from Texas to Alabama. In Arkansas, a tornado that touched down about 150 miles south-west of Little Rock killed a man and injured his wife when their home was destroyed. (Read More)

- Father, we ask that You would comfort those who are suffering from these storms. We ask mercy for the citizens of the southern USA and that You would calm the winds and restrain the rain and send it to California. California needs Your rain.

- "But God remembered Noah and all the beasts and all the cattle that were with him in the ark; and God caused a wind to pass over the earth, and the water subsided." (Genesis 8:1)

7. Obama, Allies Plot Anti-ISIS Strategy - Huffington Post

Officials from Ankara participated in Tuesday's meeting at Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland. A U.S. military official familiar with the talks said the chiefs of defense agreed to recommend to their governments that they continue to move forward together against the extremists, "to contribute capabilities best suited to each nation, and to take action to build on the successes already achieved by coalition efforts on the ground and in the air." The official requested anonymity for providing the information.

The U.S. has been pressing Turkey - a NATO ally - to take a more active role in the campaign to destroy the Islamic State group, but the Turks have said they won't join the fight unless the U.S.-led coalition also targets Syrian President Bashar Assad's government. The Obama administration sees those as separate fights and has no appetite to go to war against Assad. (Read more)

- Lord God, our local news reported that the free Syria rebels were not included in this strategy session of 22 nations, aligned with the purpose of destroying ISIS. Lord God, we understand that, technically, the free Syria rebels are not a "nation," but they ARE the ones with boots on the ground, fighting and losing their own lives in the battle to contain ISIS. Forgive us, Lord, for not honoring those who are doing the job and help our leaders to provide all the equipment needed to these other forces who are working to defeat this enemy. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

- "Pray . . . for all in authority . . ." (I Tim. 2:1-4)

8. 'Inherent Resolve': Military campaign against ISIS gets a name - Fox News

More than two months after the U.S. first launched airstrikes against the Islamic State, the military mission has a name: "Inherent Resolve." A senior military source confirmed to Fox News that "Inherent Resolve" officially has been chosen as the title of the operation.

The name comes after questions were raised about why the administration had not named a mission that has escalated to involve several coalition partners and hundreds of airstrikes in both Iraq and Syria. (Read more)

- Lord God, now that this mission has a name, we ask that You would move upon the hearts of the president and all of his advisers to also give this mission "teeth." Lord, the Kurds and the Syrian rebels are pleading for help -- heavy artillery, ammunition, tanks -- whatever it takes. Instead, we are sending them blankets and shoes. Lord God, help us to put our "all" into this mission, so that ISIS can and will be completely defeated. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen and amen.

- "If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer." (Matthew 21:22)

9. ISIS May Possess Chemical Weapons - Huffington Post

The Islamic State militant group may possess chemical weapons that it has already used to extend its self-proclaimed caliphate, according to photos taken by Kurdish activists and examined by Israeli researchers. The group, making gains in Iraq and Syria, may have captured chemical agents in Iraq in June and used them in July to kill three Kurdish fighters in the strategically important region of Kobani in northwest Syria, suggests a report released Sunday by the Global Research in International Affairs Center, a branch of the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya, Israel. (Read more)

- Dear Heavenly Father only You can change the hearts and minds of man. Have mercy on the Kurds. Change the hearts and minds of the US alliance so that they send the Kurds weapons to defend themselves. May the use of chemical weapons by ISIS on the Kurds give the alliance a sense of urgency to protect not only the Kurds, but the rest of the Middle East.

- "Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh." (Ezek. 36:26)

10. North Korea's Kim Jong-Un reappears with walking stick - aol.com

North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un has finally resurfaced with the help of a walking stick after a prolonged, unexplained absence that fueled rampant speculation about his health and even rumors of a coup in the nuclear-armed state.

- Dear Heavenly Father, Kim Jong-Un leads a country that is starving and deprived of basic human needs. Lord, there is nothing too difficult for You. We ask for Your mercy and grace for the salvation of the North Korean people.

1. Ban visits terror tunnel near Gaza-border -ynet news

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon visited the Gaza-border area on Tuesday and even toured inside a terror tunnel. He said he was astounded by the underground tunnel used by terrorists to infiltrate Israel. The top UN official said he has repeatedly condemned Hamas' attacks from above and below, using rockets and tunnels, respectively. He emphasized that civilians should not have to live under threat and in fear of rockets and tunnels.

During his tour Ban met the family of Daniel Tragerman, the 4-year-old child who was killed by a mortar attack. His grandfather, Marcelo, criticized the visit by the top UN official. "My expectations are not nil, they're negative. It is a courtesy call that will not have any utility. He does not control the people in the Gaza Strip." ( Read More)

2. Israeli soldier wounded by explosive device near Rachel's Tomb -ynet news

A Border Guard soldier was injured in a riot near Rachel's Tomb on Tuesday. Some 40 locals arrived at the compound in the evening and began hurling rocks and Molotov cocktails at security forces near the Palestinian side of the complex.

A team of Border Guard soldiers approached the rioters when an improvised explosive was thrown towards the Israelis, lightly wounding a trooper in his leg. The force began searching the area for the suspects and dispersing the rioters using crowd control measures. (Read More)

3. Ya'alon Calls Bennett's Actions During Gaza War 'Anarchy' - Israel National News

Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon is apparently still very upset over Economics Minister Naftali Bennett's direct contact with IDF officers during Operation Protective Edge against Hamas.

In an interview with the ultra-leftist paper Haaretz, Yaalon attacked Bennett without naming him. "A certain minister received a report from the field and said that there was a brigade (Givati) that had developed a method of dealing with the tunnels, but we weren't letting them do so," Ya'alon said.

"I suggest that ministers take into account broader considerations such as the dialogue with the US administration, the United Nations. After all, we didn't start this operation as we did in the Second Lebanon War. We knew what we wanted to achieve. There are considerations that go beyond the fact that you have a force that is ready for action.

"There's no shortage of threats. When you establish deterrence, you can't attack everything just because the enemy has tactical capability. There are 100,000 Hezbollah rockets directed at us. So are we going into Lebanon now to deal with them?"

Regarding Hamas's terror tunnels, Israel let in construction materials to Gaza in large quantity starting Tuesday after international donors on Sunday pledged $5.4 billion, even as the group continues to rebuild the terror tunnels to attack Israeli civilians.

Bennett claimed that his direct contact with field commanders helped him to spur the defense minister and IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz into action. Ya'alon rejected this: "That's unacceptable. Is it legitimate for a politician to form direct ties with army officers, and based on that, to try to manipulate the chief of staff in the cabinet and say that he's a lazy horse compared to the galloping horses, the officers in the field? 4. Kerry said to seek new talks to hold off PA Security Council bid -Times of Israel

The US is looking to get Israel to agree to renew peace talks with the Palestinians based on the 1967 lines, as a way of checking Ramallah's UN bid for statehood, an Israeli newspaper reported Wednesday. US Secretary of State John Kerry recently asked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he would return to the negotiating table for discussions with the Palestinians on the basis on the 1967 ceasefire lines, with agreed upon land swaps, the Haaretz daily reported, citing unnamed diplomatic officials. (Read more)

- Father, there is pressure from all around Israel to go back to the 1967 border lines. We pray that You will allow people to see why this isn't good for Israel. The enemy could attack and wipe out the entire nation in a few minutes. Lord, we trust You for protection of Israel. We trust in Your perfect will. In the name of Yeshuah, amen.

5. Evangelical Christian Prayer Vigil Blocked by Rabbis -Arutz Sheva

Pressure from the Chief Rabbinate and the Derech Emuna Rabbinic organization has succeeded in causing police to cancel an evangelical Christian prayer service, that was planned for Wednesday at the Southern Wall of the Temple Mount, near the Hulda Gate.

International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ) organized the prayer vigil for the "restoration" of Jesus and called on Christian attendees to invite as many Jews as possible to a prior interfaith event.

Aside from being a breach of halakha (Jewish law) as interfaith worship, the vigil particularly rankled as it was scheduled for the morning of Hoshana Raba, the last day of the Sukkot holiday, and would have been the first time such a service was held at the holy site since the liberation of the Old City in the 1967 Six Day War. (Read more)

-Father, we pray that Christians will not take offense to the cancelling of this prayer service. Instead we ask that You will give them understanding and sensitivity to the Jewish feelings about this event.

Father, help us to remember that You covered Israel's eyes for a time, so that all of the Nations may be brought into Your Kingdom. Let us remember to pray for Israel. We pray for Your revelation to the people about Yeshuah, but until they see we do not want to cause strife or dissent among the people. In the name of Yeshuah, we pray, amen.

6. Labor Head Says Netanyahu Profits from Anti-Israel Wave - Israel National News

Opposition Chairman and Labor Party Head MK Yitzhak Herzog said Wednesday on IDF Radio that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu profits politically from Israel's increased diplomatic isolation, claiming it deflects attention from his failed social and economic policies, including the high cost of housing. Relations between Netanyahu and US President Barack Obama are at all-time low, Herzog charged, and demanded that Israel present a diplomatic initiative for regional peace.

"Netanyahu is leading us into a complete dead end for which we will pay the price," he added, in the wake of Sweden and then the UK's decision to recognize "Palestine" in non-binding moves.

"I have spoken to many leaders of late, in order to try and persuade them that unilateral steps will not assist peace," he explained, "but the answer that I get is that Israel is not doing anything in order to help the world to help it." (Read more)

- Abba, Your Word says that, in the end of days, all nations will come against and hate Israel. We see that starting to happen in our world and we know that the time is getting closer to when we will see Your return. Father, we pray for strength and wisdom for Prime Minister Netanyahu. We ask that You give him Shalom peace and a renewed mind. May he pursue a deeper relationship with You and always seek to do Your will. In the name of Yeshuah we pray, amen.

1. We've got a problem in the Twin Cities that is based in our large and still growing population of Somali immigrants - The Powerline

We've got a problem in the Twin Cities that is based in our large and still growing population of Somali immigrants. Somalis have been immigrating to Minnesota for more than twenty years now. They have taken advantage of all the services that our state and local institutions offer. They have been welcomed with open arms, in Minnesota's characteristic style. Yet Minnesota's Somali community ("Minnesotans") have proved the most fertile ground in the United States for the recruitment of terrorists by foreign terrorist organizations in Africa and the Middle East. We are concerned that they may choose to return "home" to Minnesota if they don't get killed first. What is to be done? (Read more)

2. British female jihadist ('White Widow') now in Syria training ISIS female suicide bombers and overseeing English-language propaganda campaign - The Daily Mail UK

Parliament Votes to Uphold Palestinian Sovereignty!

Despite Israel's Warning; British Lawmakers Vote "Yes" to Recognize State of Palestine

While the vote is unlikely to change government policy, British lawmakers have made a giant political statement.

(London, England)-British lawmakers voted overwhelmingly on Monday in favor of recognizing a Palestinian state. While the vote is unlikely to change government policy, British lawmakers have made a giant political statement.

The ayes carried the vote with a total of 274 votes, with only 12 nays. Prime Minister David Cameron and other senior political leaders abstained. More than half of the 650 Commons members did not take part in the vote. The motion put forth to the House of Commons stated: "The House urges the government to recognize the State of Palestine alongside the State of Israel." It was later amended to add "as a contribution to securing a negotiated two-state solution."

The motion was sponsored by Grahame Morris, a member of the opposition Labour party. Morris said that Britain has a "moral responsibility" to help found an independent Palestinian state based on Britain's history as a colonial power in the Middle East.

Britain controlled Palestine from 1920-1948 until the State of Israel was founded. The Balfour Declaration of 1917 was a significant step forward towards Jewish statehood.

The vote comes after Sweden's new government announced that it would recognize a Palestinian state. "It's absolutely clear that Israel-Palestine relations are stuck at an impasse, as is our foreign policy," Morris stated at the opening of the debate.

In Israel, lawmakers are not happy with the outcome of the vote. Israel's Foreign Ministry warned that prematurely recognizing a Palestinian state would undermine peace efforts.

"Premature international recognition sends a troubling message to the Palestinian leadership that they can evade the tough choices that both sides have to make, and actually undermines the chances to reach a real peace," a statement released by the Foreign Ministry read.

The Nations of the world are on a collision course with the God of Israel - Zechariah 12

The Coming Deliverance of Judah

12 The burden[a] of the word of the Lord against Israel. Thus says the Lord, who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him: 2 "Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem. 3 And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it. 4 In that day," says the Lord, "I will strike every horse with confusion, and its rider with madness; I will open My eyes on the house of Judah, and will strike every horse of the peoples with blindness. 5 And the governors of Judah shall say in their heart, 'The inhabitants of Jerusalem are my strength in the Lord of hosts, their God.' 6 In that day I will make the governors of Judah like a firepan in the woodpile, and like a fiery torch in the sheaves; they shall devour all the surrounding peoples on the right hand and on the left, but Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place-Jerusalem.

7 "The Lord will save the tents of Judah first, so that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem shall not become greater than that of Judah. 8 In that day the Lord will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; the one who is feeble among them in that day shall be like David, and the house of David shall be like God, like the Angel of the Lord before them. 9 It shall be in that day that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.
Mourning for the Pierced One 10 "And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn. 11 In that day there shall be a great mourning in Jerusalem, like the mourning at Hadad Rimmon in the plain of Megiddo.[b] 12 And the land shall mourn, every family by itself: the family of the house of David by itself, and their wives by themselves; the family of the house of Nathan by itself, and their wives by themselves; 13 the family of the house of Levi by itself, and their wives by themselves; the family of Shimei by itself, and their wives by themselves; 14 all the families that remain, every family by itself, and their wives by themselves.

Lesbian Houston mayor bullies pastors

WorldNetDaily and Fox News are reporting that the lesbian mayor of Houston Annise Parker has subpoenaed the sermons and other pastoral communications of several Houston area pastors to determine if there was anti-gay comments in them. The mayor is witch hunting to find out if these pastors had anything to do with a petition against her ordinance mandating same sex bathrooms in Houston. Once again, those who have a nationwide anti-bully campaign are the bullies. Notwithstanding, this threat to religious freedom simply should be squashed immediately by the pastors refusing to comply based on their 1st Amendment rights. But not so fast. The legal community is involved full force.

Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) attorneys have filed a motion in Texas court to stop the subpoenas. In a statement by ADF on its website, ADF Senior Legal Counsel Erik Stanley said, "City council members are supposed to be public servants, not 'Big Brother' overlords who will tolerate no dissent or challenge. In this case, they have embarked upon a witch-hunt, and we are asking the court to put a stop to it." ADF Litigation Counsel Christiana Holcomb added, "The city council and its attorneys are engaging in an inquisition designed to stifle any critique of its actions. Political and social commentary is not a crime; it is protected by the First Amendment."

The ADF brief states: "The message is clear: oppose the decisions of city government, and drown in unwarranted, burdensome discovery requests. These requests, if allowed, will have a chilling effect on future citizens who might consider circulating referendum petitions because they are dissatisfied with ordinances passed by the City Council. Not only will the Nonparty Pastors be harmed if these discovery requests are allowed, but the People will suffer as well. The referendum process will become toxic and the People will be deprived of an important check on city government provided them by the Charter."

My hunch is that these pastors sit under 501C3 corporations instead of non-stock Churches. If that is the case, they have opened the door to government interference by being beholden to government regulations--one of such by the IRS that pastors are not allowed to take political positions in church. Albeit this is totally erroneous and unconstitutional, it has been enforced through intimidation. The short answer to such harassment is "You have no authority to request such information by virtue of the 1st Amendment." But the not for profit designation muddies the waters. Remember always Acts 5:29, "We ought to obey God rather than men." And in America, there can be no law respecting the establishment or free exercise of religion. Seems like the Alamo has moved to Houston and all of America should get behind these pastors. Pray and Act.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

FBI Alert

Feds warn of possible ISIS-inspired attacks on police, government officials, media

Published October 14, 2014
FoxNews.com

WASHINGTON - Federal officials are warning U.S. law enforcement about the threat of Islamic State-inspired terror attacks against police officers, government workers and "media figures" in the U.S. In a joint intelligence bulletin sent to law enforcement and confirmed by Fox News, the FBI and Department of Homeland Security warned about the Islamic State's calls on social media forums for violence.

A senior intelligence official told Fox News the bulletin was sent Saturday. "I requested it as a duty to warn and as an officer safety matter given ISIL's continued statements on forums and in social media to conduct homeland attacks and to target law enforcement, government and intelligence agencies," the official said, adding that "FBI investigator" was specifically mentioned in one post.

NBC News first reported that an audio message, recorded by an ISIS spokesman in September, urged lone-wolf terrorists in Western countries to carry out attacks on "soldiers, patrons, and troops, their police, security and intelligence members."

An English language translation of the message, which was attributed to ISIS spokesman Abu Muhammad al-Adnani, reportedly was posted on a jihadi forum late last month.

The message said attackers did not need to "ask for anyone's advice" prior to striking because such actions are legitimate, NBC News reported. Another document posted by an ISIS supporter in September reportedly called for "lone wolf operations" against several targets including "media figures."

The senior intelligence official, referencing recent arrests overseas, told Fox News that "the fact media has reported arrests in the UK and Australia based on plots to target police and lastly given the stabbing of an AFP officer, we felt it important to get the information out to all law enforcement."

The bulletin, though, said officials were not aware of any specific, credible threat against U.S. targets by home-grown extremists inside the U.S. or overseas at this point.

The warning follows a separate Army intelligence bulletin urging U.S. military personnel to be vigilant after ISIS militants called on supporters to scour social media for addresses of their family members. (Read more)

GREAT NEWS IN D.C.!!!

WASHINGTON, D.C. -
THOUSANDS GATHER FOR PRAYER!
LED AND ORGANIZED BY AREA PASTORS;
REPENTANCE WAS THE THEME

As the Feast of Tabernacles continued on Monday, thousands of believers from the metro DC region gathered to pray on the Lincoln Memorial. The gathering was led by Lon Solomon, a renowned regional evangelical pastor who experienced a life-changing encounter with the Lord this summer. Together the body of Christ welcomed Holy Spirit, repented for sins, and stood in united, resolute faith for revival in the Capitol!

Both the gathering itself and the journey of its leader, Pastor Lon Solomon of McLean Bible Church, are extraordinary. Until a few months ago, Pastor Solomon probably wouldn't have had much to do with most of the folks who showed up at the gathering-charismatics especially.

But this summer God literally visited the renowned evangelical pastor in a literal "Isaiah 6" experience. The Lord penetrated his heart in a deep way with a call to return to first-love devotion to Jesus. He was provoked to tears and repentance for building his own "kingdom" while isolating from the broader body of Christ!

Since this time, he has been personally visiting pastors throughout the region, sharing his experience and seeking their forgiveness for his isolation. Yesterday's meeting was birthed out of this extraordinary repentance.

Prophetic Perspective

It is true we live in challenging times. Yet as yesterday's event conveys, God is clearly moving! The body of Christ is now being summoned to rise out of our chambers of isolation, and shine His light together against this encroaching darkness.

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners is asking all of our members to please take time tomorrow (Thursday, Oct. 16th) and pray for the protection of all schools in your vicinity: elementary, junior high and high schools. Please include area preschools and day care centers if the Lord quickens you to add these names to your list.

For those who are familiar with moving in a "Jericho" drive (or walk) around these campuses, we support that work as well.
There have been several mentions made in recent days that ISIS and/or al Qaeda may be targeting "the soft underbelly" of our nation for an attack: our children. Now is the time to take that threat seriously and to be led of the Lord about how to respond.
As we pray confusion into the camp of the enemy, let's remember to not only be on the defensive in prayer, but offensive in releasing God's promises and blessings, as in Jer. 29:11, Ps. 91, and others. He is a loving, personal Father who wants to bless and prosper.
And now, we say:

"Let God arise, let His enemies be scattered, And let those who hate Him flee before Him." (Psalm 68:1)

The Good News Corner:

After 10 Months, Christian Pastor Suddenly Escapes Islamic Radicals When God brings Deluge and Flood

He was held for 10 months by Boko Haram, the same Islamist group that has terrorized northern Nigeria and kidnapped some 300 schoolgirls. But God brought a downpour of heavy rain and a flood to wash away his captors and secure his escape. (Photo via God Reports) Rotimi Obajimi, pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, was kidnapped January 6, 2014 as he traveled from his rural church toward Maiduguri, according to a story by the Sahara Reporters.

The radical group took him to Sambisa Forest, a former game preserve filled with leopards and lions that has become a haven for Boko Haram. It is suspected the group is holding the Nigerian schoolgirls in the same area.

Boko Haram has killed at least 5,000 Nigerians in the last five years and their brutality has led to 650,000 refugees forced to flee their villages. Similar to the group ISIS, they seek to establish a caliphate with sharia law, and have also been beheading their opponents. Earlier this week Boko Haram beheaded seven villagers in northeastern Nigeria.

Pastor Obajimi was tied up for months in the forest, while many in his church prayed fervently for his freedom.

During the first week of October heavy rains began. It was a deluge so strong that the camp began to flood. Because of the flooding, his captors deserted the camp and Pastor Obajimi managed to free himself, according to Sahara Reporters.

The Pacific Starfish Die-Off Continues, but There Is New Hope

A grisly horror show is playing out along the West Coast of North America. Remains of millions of dead and dying sea stars, commonly known as starfish, litter the shoreline from Vancouver to San Diego.

Those stars are the victims of a swift and brutal illness. First, the animal's body deflates, as if drained of all its water. Then the trademark arms begin to curl, detaching from rocks. White lesions appear, like festering canker sores. Then the star explodes as organs rupture though the body wall. The arms fall off. Ultimately, the sea star dissolves, as if melted by acid, disintegrating into goo.

Researchers in Washington state first noticed signs of the so-called "wasting syndrome" in June 2013 during routine monitoring of populations of bright purple and orange Pisaster ochraceus sea stars. The outbreak continued through the summer, spreading down into California's central and southern coasts. Scientists hoped it would subside during the winter. It did not. (Newsweek) Read more.

"And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."
(Luke 21:25-28)

Today's Birthday

Today's Birthday on the Hill

Almost every day of the year, a member of Congress or a Senator is celebrating a birthday. Let's lift up these men and women, day by day in prayer on their special day, that God might bless them and show them His love for each one. Indeed, let's move together in obedience to the Lord's mandate in I Timothy 2:1-4. It is written:
"I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people - for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth."

Today's Birthday Greeting goes to:

Rep. Rush D. Holt (NJ)
