-"Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall." [Proverbs 16:18]

3. Hundreds of Thousands Lose Power; Traffic Snarls; Northeast Braces for Storm -Weather Channel

4. Nation of Islam's Farrakhan challenges 'lovers of Jesus' to a 'showdown' -Washington Times

- "You come to me with a sword and a spear and with a javelin. But I come to you in the Name of the Lord of Hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied." [1 Samuel 17:45]

6. Kentucky Marriage Ruling Shows Disregard for Rule of Law - Family Research Council

A federal judge today ordered the state to disregard its constitution and recognize out of state same-sex "marriages." In 2004, 75 percent of Kentucky voters adopted a constitutional amendment defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman.

Family Research Council (FRC) President Tony Perkins released the following statement regarding the decision:

"This ruling is another example of the deep betrayal of a judicial system infected with activist judges who are legislating from the bench. If these judges want to change duly enacted laws passed by the people and their representatives, they should resign their life-time appointments to the bench and run for the state legislature or Congress. Judge Heyburn is elevating his own ideology over that of three-quarters of Kentucky voters who voted to preserve marriage in their constitution as it has always been defined.

"This ruling comes at a time when the consequences of marriage redefinition are mounting. Increasingly, Americans are being forced to finance and celebrate unions that not only step on free speech and religious liberty but also deny children a mom and a dad. Rather than live-and-let-live, this court by redefining marriage will create a level of inequality that has never been seen in our country as people are forced to suppress or violate the basic teachings of their faith," concluded Perkins.

- Father, we cry out in repentance for a nation that has lost its way. We ask You to forgive Judge Heyburn for overruling the wishes of the vast majority of the citizens of the State of Kentucky, for he knows not what he does. We appeal to the High Court of Heaven tonight to bring justice to this state, in Jesus' name we pray, amen.

- "The LORD preserves all who love Him, but all the wicked He will destroy." (Psalm 145:20)

When Yahweh your God brings you into the land that you are entering to take possession of it, and clears away many nations before you, the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations more numerous and mightier than you, and when Yahweh your God gives them over to you, and you defeat them, then you must devote them to complete destruction. You shall make no covenant with them and show no mercy to them." . . . "And you shall consume all the peoples that Yahweh your God will give over to you. Your eye shall not pity them, neither shall you serve their gods, for that would be a snare to you." (Dt. 7:1-2, 16)

Snow Rage

If you are like me, you are experiencing the snow of the century on the East coast. We have the powdery white stuff coming down faster than I can keep a path shoveled. I am reading stories about how people are experiencing "snow rage" and that thousands are without power, some are being forced to cook their food in fireplaces, people are getting into fights over food in stores, even a man put a gun to a snow plow driver's head. C'mon, really? We are Americans. Let's behave like Americans. We don't get sidetracked by snow. We don't treat our neighbor viciously. We are rugged individualists who treat others as we hope to be treated. We should be banding together, not fighting one another.

I saw an interview with the Mayor of Washington, D.C. He appears like someone with no common sense. I don't know how he got elected in the first place. But he was telling how there was an emergency snow procedure in effect and that everybody should move their cars if they are on an affected route or it would be expensive. Expensive for sure--some $400 to tow and get your car out of hawk. Now that's government serving the people! It just adds to the frustration. In times of emergency, government is supposed to ensure the safety and order of the people. Yes, cars need to be towed out of the way, but it shouldn't be a cold-hearted money maker for the government and their crony tow companies.
Right now, we have about 15 inches of snow and it is still coming down at a fast pace. A little later, I will be out checking on things. Seeing if neighbors need any help. I also will be calling some people who I know are stuck in this storm to see if they are OK and offer any encouragement I can. These kinds of snowstorms or natural disasters are opportunities for Christians to show the love of Christ, one to another. That person you give a warm smile, or an extra push out of a slick spot, or a hot cup of coffee, may be someone who is seeking, or needs a little boost from a good American. We shouldn't be fighting one another for food or grouchy about the condition we are in.

My wife asked me to shovel a path to the bird feeder. And I was thinking about what Jesus said in Matthew 6:25, "Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are ye not much better than they?" Don't fear during this time, as the Lord is with you. In verses 22-23, He said, "The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness." So, today whether you are affected by the storm or not, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Rage on satan today, not your neighbor.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

The Legislative Bulletin for Conservatives

The Week of Feb. 10th-14th

This week's bill to support:

Repeal Double Taxation on Social Security Benefits
(H.R. 3894)

At present, the federal government taxes the Social Security benefits of seniors, even though the money has already been taxed. Moreover, the more a senior earns in private income, dividends or interest while receiving Social Security, the more they are taxed. Hence, in addition to the double taxation, the federal government has created a perverse incentive for seniors to continue working, if they desire to do so.

A group of conservative champions in the House, Reps. Thomas Massie (R-KY), Jim Bridenstine (R-OK), and Ron DeSantis (R-FL) have introduced a bill, H.R. 3894, to repeal this double taxation on Social Security benefits. As Massie noted, this bill will prevent Congress from using this ill-gotten revenue to grow government while pretending to protect the notional Social Security Trust Fund. Please ask your member of Congress to co-sponsor this worthy piece of legislation.

State Marriage Defense Act

FRC Praises Senate Introduction of State Marriage Defense Act

February 13, 2014

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Family Research Council (FRC) today praised U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and U.S. Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah) for introducing the Senate companion of the "State Marriage Defense Act of 2014" and urged members of the U.S. Senate to support it.

The State Marriage Defense Act is a response to the Supreme Court's 2013 decision in United States v. Windsor. Windsor struck down the federal definition of marriage in Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act because the Court ruled that DOMA conflicted with the tradition of the federal government deferring to the authority of individual states to define and regulate marriage.

The State Marriage Defense Act is necessary because current Obama administration policy goes beyond the legal boundaries of Windsor with some federal agencies adopting rules recognizing the same sex relationships of couples, even if they reside in a state that does not recognize their relationship thereby doing what the court reserved for the states defining and regulating marriage. The State Marriage Defense Act was originally introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives in January by Congressman Randy Weber (R-Texas) and currently has 57 co-sponsors.

Pray for Pakistan, Afghanistan

Pray for Pakistan and Afghanistan
PAKISTAN
The national situation of Pakistan is deteriorating rapidly. Bigger and bigger suicide bombings and terrorist activities are taking place. The Prime Minister was allowed to come into office because of agreements made between the Punjab Taliban and himself. The Prime Minister continually talks about peace talks with these Taliban, who have no intention of making peace with him. He is fearful to say anything against them for fear that they will turn on him just like they have made some major attacks on the military. Talks with the Taliban will not work. It only puts the Taliban in a position to be able to do more of what they want to do.

AFGHANISTAN

SIGNING OF AGREEMENT NEEDED:

President Karzai still refuses to signs a very important agreement between him and the US government to allow NATO keep a limited number of troops in Afghanistan after most troops pull out at the end of this year. It would be crucial for the stability and the future of the country that enough troops would be left to support the Afghan Army and Police in their fight against the Taliban. If Karzai does not sign it soon, it would mean that all troops will pull out and there would be a great possibility for the Taliban to return. It is now known that he has been conducting secret talks with the Taliban.

AFGHAN SOLDIERS DESPERATE FOR PACT WITH U.S.

That outcome has become increasingly probable with President Hamid Karzai's refusal to sign a bilateral security agreement that would allow the United States to maintain a small military presence here beyond 2014. Now, Afghan troops are beginning to raise their voices against Karzai, demanding at great personal risk that he sign the pact.

"If the international community leaves, there is no question that we will lose ground to the Taliban," Col. Mohammad Dost, a battalion commander in Zabul province, said in an interview. "It's the biggest worry for every soldier now." (Washington Post) Read more here.

> > > The following commentary, prayer and verse has been published by Intercessors for America.
The Afghanistan situation is fraught with conflicting viewpoints. Western observers are hard pressed to recall a day when Afghanistan was free from warfare. Both U.S. and Afghanistan troops are battle-weary. Let us pray as Jesus taught His disciples, ". . . [Let] Your kingdom come. [May] Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven" (Matt. 6:10). Pray for a conclusion to war in Afghanistan. Only God knows His ultimate purpose. Christians believe what Jesus said: "This gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come" (Matt. 24:14). Pray accordingly.
"In this manner, therefore, pray: 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.'" (Matthew 6:9-10)

"And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet....And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come." (Matthew 24:6, 14)

The Good News Corner:

Clint Eastwood Makes Man's Day AND His Life

Clint Eastwood not only made one man's day, he apparently saved his life.

The 83-year-old actor-director performed the Heimlich maneuver on PGA Tour tournament director Steve John when he noticed John choking on some cheese at a party in Monterey, Calif., on Wednesday night, on the eve of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

Eastwood . . . immediately sprang into action when he saw that John was in trouble and performed the life-saving maneuver on the 202-pound tournament director.

Eastwood told the local paper, The Carmel Pine Cone, that it was his first time using the Heimlich maneuver.

"I didn't know that the Chairman of the Board needed to know how to do the Heimlich, but he did know," John said about Eastwood, who usually hands out the trophies at the event.

"He didn't make my day, he made my life," John added. "He was my angel and he was definitely at the right place at the right time." (ABC News) Read more.

Signs and Wonders:

Giant boulder in northern Italy nearly wipes out farmhouse

ROME - A huge boulder unleashed by a landslide in northern Italy narrowly missed a farmhouse, destroyed a barn and came to a stop in vineyards.

A second boulder stopped just feet (about a meter) behind the traditional stone farmhouse in the rocky region of Alto-Adige.

The surreal sight was captured in a series of dramatic photographs. Nobody was injured in the tumble from mountains overlooking the village of Ronchi di Termeno. Some other boulders from the Jan. 21 landslide blocked roads. (Star Tribune) Read more.

"And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."
