(Psalm 40:8)
Thank you for praying for the Persecuted Church!

The Daily Brief

1. Winter Storm Warning Issued; Accumulation 'Could Be Biggest Of The Season' - CBS News

A major winter storm is expected to barrel up the East Coast mid-week, bringing a potentially significant snowfall to the already winter weary Washington region.

- Father God, the occurrences these days are becoming so severe that it is causing many people to call out to the God of heaven for preservation against the elements of nature. We pray that many will find the Lord to be their Savior and redeemer in the crucial days ahead. In Jesus' Name we pray.

- "The Lord is good, a stronghold and refuge in the day of trouble; and He knows them that trust in Him." (Nahum 1:7)

2. Historic Ice Storm Unfolds in South; Lengthy Power Outages Possible - AccuWeather

With a major winter storm unfolding over the South, snow and ice will severely impact travelers and residents from Louisiana to the Carolinas through midweek.

- Lord God, we pray that the people in these areas will find their help coming from the Lord when they call out to Him for His intervention. Their help will come from the God of heaven and it is He who will save them and bring them out of their troubles. In Jesus' Name.

- "Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble, and He delivered them out of their distresses. Give us help from trouble; for vain is the help of man." (Psalm 107:6, 108:12)

3. U.S. House approves 'clean' debt limit after Republicans drop demands - Reuters

The U.S. House of Representatives narrowly approved a one-year extension of federal borrowing authority on Tuesday after Republicans caved into President Barack Obama's demands to allow a debt limit increase without any conditions.

- Father God, we call out to You in heaven to look upon our government and hold back that which will destroy us, and only allow men to follow the path that our God has chosen for them to take. Crush the power of darkness and evil decisions under Your feet, and weaken the enemy with the full force of God that they be uprooted and will lose their power to destroy America. In the Name of Jesus we pray.

- "Render unto them a recompense, O Lord, according to the work of their hands." (Lam. 3:64)

4. Religion Freedom commission: Consider sanctions to end Christian persecution - Washington Times

The U.S. should consider economic sanctions on countries where Christians endure persecution, torture and death to help ensure security here and abroad, a religious rights advocate told Congress Tuesday.

- Mighty God, we pray that You will fight this battle for the Christians around the world by moving upon the leaders to impose economic sanctions on the countries where Christians endure persecution, torture and death because of their belief in the Lord Jesus Christ. It is through the Blood of Jesus on the Cross that we have forgiveness of sin and are redeemed to spend eternity in heaven.

- "You shall not be affrighted at them; for the Lord your God is among you, a mighty God and terrible." (Deuteronomy 7:21)

5. House warns Ukraine against violent response to protestors - The Hill

The House on Monday voted overwhelmingly to pass a non-binding resolution that calls on Ukraine to stop all government violence against peaceful demonstrators calling for democratic reforms. (Read more)

- Father, we plead Your blood over the terrible violence now ongoing in the nation of Ukraine, and we ask for Your peace to once again visit this land. We thank You for this nonbinding resolution now passed by the members of the House of Representatives, and we ask that You send forth Your angelic host to enforce this edit. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

- "You will also decree a thing, and it will be established for you; And light will shine on your ways." (Job 22:28)

6. Sen. Cruz takes on the 'regulatory state' with sweeping energy bill - The Hill

Sen. Ted Cruz on Monday detailed a plan to expand domestic energy production by beating back a slate of Obama administration regulations that he says are standing in the way of a national oil and gas boom. Decrying U.S. energy policy as stuck in the 1970s, the Texas Republican laid out the major points of sweeping legislation he is preparing to introduce in the coming weeks. (Read more)

- Offer praise for the leadership demonstrated by Senator Cruz on this vital issue. His legislation, "the American Energy Renaissance Act," includes innovative strategies that will bring our nation back to a state of energy independence, and strength from our own position and resources in the global market. We pray that, when this legislation is introduced in the Senate, many will grab hold of its wisdom, and vote to pass this bill. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

- "For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus." (Philippians 1:6)

The Middle East in Focus

This week, for all the headlines cited below, please join us in proclaiming THIS DECREE:

When Yahweh your God brings you into the land that you are entering to take possession of it, and clears away many nations before you, the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations more numerous and mightier than you, and when Yahweh your God gives them over to you, and you defeat them, then you must devote them to complete destruction. You shall make no covenant with them and show no mercy to them." . . . "And you shall consume all the peoples that Yahweh your God will give over to you. Your eye shall not pity them, neither shall you serve their gods, for that would be a snare to you." (Dt. 7:1-2, 16)

The Daily Jot

Republicans and Democrats alike

We have entered an era in American politics where there is virtually no difference between the political parties. Democrats long have been cast as the villains by conservatives for their undying support of unbridled government spending, support of immoral social issues, and weak foreign policy. For years we have seen the opposing Republican Party drifting further and further into the Democratic camp. Today, there is very little difference between them. Perhaps, the Republicans take a little longer to get where the Democrats are going because they have to lie to their constituents about their conservative ruse in order to get reelected. But the transformation of political parties toward liberalism is nearly complete.

The Republican Majority in the House of Representatives did not hold in a February 11 vote on fiscal responsibility. In fact, 28 Republicans joined with some 193 Democrats to pass the debt ceiling limit to $17,200,000,000,000--that's roughly $52,000 for every man, woman and child in the US. House Speaker John Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Canter, both Republicans, voted for the bill. Then Canter had the nerve to blame it on the Democrats, saying, "House Republicans need more responsible and willing partners in Washington so we can finally and boldly address our long term debt crisis." Its the old bait and switch that cost a family of four over $200,000 in government debt. What are these people thinking?
Well, it is the Democrats' fault, AND the Republicans' fault. But it is really the American citizen's fault. Americans have disengaged from the political system, especially American Christians. Individually, many are trying to fight the good fight. Collectively, however, there are mixed messages from the pulpit; bad doctrines being taught; there is confusion among those who claim to be Biblical to the point it has caused collective inaction. The moral compass of America, the Christian, is by and large minimized in this country. And the Christian is the only human who can bring truth and common sense to the American Republic form of government. But for numerous reasons, we have let it get out of control.

Government in America occurs by the consent of the governed. We have been so lied to and so misled that we are now faced with the economic and moral consequences. They have reached such critical mass in our government that the task of removing them seems overwhelming. But remove them we must otherwise there will be no nation, no freedom of speech or religion, nothing for our future generations. The godless will have won. I, for one, do not want to face my Lord and have him say, "I blessed you with the freedom as a nation to share my word and it was your generation that turned your back on me." Beloved, Romans 13:12 is upon us: "The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light." We must do so both individually and as a nation of Christians.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

THE MADISONIAN:

The Legislative Bulletin for Conservatives

Week of February 10-14, 2014

Immigration

Last week we saw a saturation of news stories portending the demise of the latest push for amnesty. Boehner seemed to be suggesting that he will put the brakes on amnesty legislation for the time being. Conservatives should not fall for this rope-a-dope strategy by liberals and the GOP establishment. This is a trap designed to catch conservatives off guard and pass amnesty while we are focused on other issues. The Washington Examiner's Byron York quoted a GOP leadership aide this week: "the best way to pass a bill is to tell people a bill is unlikely to pass." You can't make this stuff up. However, it drives home the point that it is incumbent upon us to continue advocating against amnesty and fight back against the open borders lobby while their policies are unpopular.

In the next few days, the Madison Project will be launching a petition drive at StandAgainstAmnesty.com to continue putting pressure on rank-and-file members to commit to opposing amnesty. Ultimately, the battle over immigration must be used by conservatives to end John Boehner's speakership and push for new, transparent House leadership elections, not pre-determined shows we've witnessed for the last decade.

Urgent Prayer Alert

Urgent Prayer Alert:

Reported by: JNN News, Israel

Broadcast by: Cindy Jacobs, President, USRPN

"Though grace is shown to the wicked, they do not learn righteousness; even in a land of uprightness they go on doing evil and regard not the majesty of the Lord." (Isa 26:10)

Message from Cindy Jacobs:
. . . Please read Barry Segal's urgent call for prayer below. We know that at any given minute the situation in Israel could escalate greatly.

Mike and I were in Jerusalem one month ago and I felt compelled to walk in the Old City towards the Dome of the Rock and the Western Wall. At the time, East Jerusalem felt very tense as if violence could've erupted at any given moment. When we arrived at the gate the guards turned us away saying, "only Muslims are allowed here!" We went around to the Jewish sector and made our way down to the Western Wall. Again, the tension crackled in the air. We ended up leaving quickly after praying, deeply disturbed in our spirits.

After that, I spoke to three different friends who have prayer houses and shared my concern about violence breaking out in the Old City. You can read in Barry's report about what has already happened. The stones raining down is just a beginning. The city of Jerusalem feels like a tinder box to me.
Please pray for the peace of Jerusalem and protection for all the citizens of the land. On another note, we must pray also against an attack on the United States again. This morning as I prayed, I heard these words: "The walls are down!" I once again have a great concern for Washington DC, the original 13 colonies, (especially New York), California, and military bases. We also need to cover our schools at this time.
Please pray with me for all these things. Thank you!

Standing in the gap for the nations,

Cindy Jacobs

Obama vs. Freedom Of The Press

Obama vs. Freedom Of The Press

Barack Obama made a lot of promises to the American people. His promise about being able to keep your current health insurance if you liked it was labeled PolitiFact's "Lie of the Year."

Here's another whopper: Obama's promise to lead "the most transparent administration in history." Katherine Meyer, an attorney who has specialized in freedom of information requests since the late 1970s, said the Obama Administration ". . . is the worst on FOIA issues. The worst. There's just no question about it."

Meyer added, "This administration is raising one barrier after another. It's gotten to the point where I'm stunned -- I'm really stunned."

Far from being open and transparent, the Obama Administration has cracked down on freedom of the press. Remember the Associated Press scandal and the targeting of Fox News reporter James Rosen? Sadly, it's not surprising that under Obama the United States has dropped 13 positions in the World Press Freedom index.

I'm sure you'll recall Obama whining about how Fox News was so unfair to him during his recent interview with Bill O'Reilly. It seems the White House is about to strike back.

Federal Communications Commissioner Ajit Pai warned this week that the Obama FCC is planning to ". . . thrust the federal government into newsrooms across the country." Pai adds, "It plans to ask station managers, news directors, journalists, television anchors and on-air reporters to tell the government about their 'news philosophy' and how the station ensures that the community gets critical information."
Pai suggests that Obama's FCC may be attempting to resurrect the so-called Fairness Doctrine, whereby left-wing government bureaucrats determine what is fair and what isn't. I can see Obama announcing his next appointment: Rachel Maddow, News Czar. (Gary Bauer)

About that Debt Limit

Seeking a Solution to Raising Debt Limit

House Republicans returned to Washington on Monday still struggling to find a path to raising the Treasury Department's borrowing authority, but the normally raucous caucus is in unusual agreement that the best option is to put the white-knuckle confrontations of recent fiscal wars behind them.

Facing a timeline that leaves no room for trial and error, some party leaders were advocating a debt-ceiling solution that would wrap several popular, must-pass items around a provision to extend the federal government's borrowing authority beyond the November midterm elections. That approach has drawn support from some surprising quarters, but several senior GOP advisers made it clear over the weekend that such a proposal would require a bloc of Democratic votes, because about 30 Republicans oppose raising the debt ceiling under any circumstances.

> > > Breaking News today:

House GOP surrenders on debt

House Republicans are surrendering on the debt limit. Inside a closed-door conference meeting Tuesday morning, Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) told rank-and-file members that the leadership's latest plan to tie a military pension provision to an extension of the $17.2 trillion debt limit had failed to win enough support, forcing him to schedule a vote on a "clean" bill that will be carried by Democrats. (The Hill) Read more here.
- Give thanks that this is an election year, as House members and senators seeking re-election in November are very sensitive to their constituents. This leads to a more conciliatory mood on budget questions, with both sides open to compromise in order to avoid another government shut-down. There are no easy solutions. House Speaker Boehner said he may have a workable plan. Pray for divine wisdom to prevail on all sides, with respectful debate, for the benefit of "we, the people . . ." Pray for many encounters with God among our leaders.
- "For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace." (James 3:16-18)

"The LORD is righteous in all His ways, gracious in all His works. The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He also will hear their cry and save them. The LORD preserves all who love Him, but all the wicked He will destroy." (Psalm 145:17-20)

Alabama Chief Justice Calls on All 50 Governors to Enshrine True Marriage
in the US Constitution; Critics Scorn Idea

He has called for an Article V Convention, a mechanism in the US Constitution that allows the states to pass constitutional amendments. Thirty-four states would have to agree to the convention and then three-quarters of states, 38 states, would have to ratify amendments proposed by those at the convention.

(Montgomery, AL)-In 2003, Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore was removed from office after refusing to remove the 10 Commandments from the front of the state's highest court. Now, after winning back his old job, he is back in the spotlight after sending a letter to all 50 governors urging them to enshrine marriage in the U.S. Constitution.

"The time to act is upon us if we mean to preserve the basic foundations of marriage and family upon which our Country rests," writes Moore.

He has also called for an Article V Convention, a mechanism in the US Constitution that allows the states to pass constitutional amendments. Thirty-four states would have to agree to the convention and then three-quarters of states, 38 states, would have to ratify amendments proposed by those at the convention. An Article V Convention has not been held since America's founding.
Currently, 17 states-34 percent of the 50 states-and the District of Columbia allow same-sex "marriages." (LifeSiteNews) Read more.

"And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
