The Daily Brief

1. Crude oil ought to be $150 per barrel: Iran - Reuters

Crude oil should be at least $150 per barrel, Iran's oil minister was quoted as saying on Sunday, and the sanctions-hit country's OPEC governor said current oil prices were not high enough to threaten the world economy.

- Lord, we pray for justice and fairness in the division and distribution of oil. All of the earth and the riches belong to You. We pray for good stewardship by those who are controlling the oil. We pray there would not be division over a spoil of oil. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

- Behold, the day of the Lord is coming, And your spoil will be divided in your midst, for I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem. (Zechariah 14:1-2)

2. Iran's Revolutionary Guards commander says its troops are in Syria
- Reuters

Members of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) are providing non-military assistance in Syria and Iran may get involved militarily if its closest ally comes under attack, commander-in-chief Mohammad Ali Jafari said on Sunday.

- Lord, we pray that the Islamic nations would come to know their sin against You. May those who plot to do evil be subdued and defeated. We pray that the IRGC and its commander would come to know the Commander in Chief of all, Jesus Christ. In the name of Jesus, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, we pray. Amen.

- He who plots to do evil will be called a schemer, the devising of foolishness is sin, and the scoffer is an abomination to men. (Proverbs 24: 8-9)

3. Power East Coast via wind? Doable with 144,000 offshore turbines, study says - NBC

Placing wind turbines off the East Coast could meet the entire demand for electricity from Florida to Maine, according to engineering experts at Stanford University.

- Lord, we pray that the right decision will be made about investing in these turbines. Lord, may Your people arise to pray more about the weather and our energy supply. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

- Awake, O north wind, and come, O south! Blow upon my garden, That its spices may flow out. (Song of Solomon 4:16)

4. Weighing offer, Chicago teachers remain on strike - AP

Chicago teachers uncomfortable with a tentative contract offer decided Sunday to remain on strike, insisting they need more time before deciding whether to end an acrimonious standoff with Mayor Rahm Emanuel that will keep 350,000 students out of class for at least two more days.

- Lord, we lift up the Chicago teachers, the Mayor, and the all families involved to You. Lord, they need Your intervention to help solve this problem. We need You and Your people to invade the education system, so the children will get the right education they need. We thank You for Your guidelines in Your word concerning education, and the solving of problems. May the leaders in Chicago be granted godly wisdom for a resolution to this impasse.

- Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6)

5. US diplomats start destroying Beirut embassy documents - DEBKA

The diplomats were told to destroy classified material and Lebanese staff were sent home early as a security precaution lest protesters over an anti-Muslim film storm the embassy. Hizballah leader Hassan Nasrallah called on all Lebanese Shiites to join the anti-US wave sweeping Muslim countries. Read more.

- We have been told by "friends who know" that, when an Embassy gives orders to have staff shred their classified documents, this is a signal for evacuation. And we have unconfirmed reports that other American embassies in the region have begun doing the same thing.

SAINTS, IT IS TIME TO PRAY. Please note our plan (below) for a "One Minute Prayer" every day this fall and let's join forces to pray for the protection of all of our assets on the ground worldwide. PRAY!

- "For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways . . ." (Psalm 91:11)

Iranian analyst Alireza Forghani boasted today that Jerusalem, which he claims was invaded over 50 years ago by the "pig-faced" Jews, will soon become a mass "graveyard" for the Israeli people.

2. U.S., allies in Gulf naval exercise as Israel, Iran face off - Reuters

The United States and its allies have launched a major naval exercise in the Gulf that they say shows a global will to keep oil shipping lanes open as Israel and Iran trade threats of war.

3. Netanyahu steps up pressure over Iran - Financial Times

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, said on Sunday that Iran was only six or seven months away from having most of the fuel it needed to build a nuclear weapon, as he took his appeal for the US to take a tougher line against Iran directly to the American public.

4. Israeli military moves major operations to south - Times of Israel

The Israeli military has begun construction of its largest training base ever, moving operations from some of the country's priciest real estate to the barren sands of southern Israel in a new attempt to realize the longtime dream of making the desert bloom.

Islamic vs Christian Eschatology Part I

As you may know, from September 15 through the 23rd I am leading a mission team to Ghana, West Africa. Our primary mission is to witness to Muslims as we are establishing a mission school, conducting outreach in a predominantly Muslim slum, and developing future prospects for providing homes to the homeless. Witnessing to Muslims is a challenge. Most of it is establishing relationships, credibility and sharing truth. What many Christians do not know, however, is that Muslims regard "Jesus, Son of Mary" as a prophet who plays an instrumental role in Islamic eschatology. In fact, there are tremendous similarities in Islamic end time prophecies and those of Christians, but they are polar opposites.

There are four holy books for the Muslims. The Qur'an: the first and most sacred holy book of Islam written by Muhammad as given by Allah; the literal word of Allah. It is broken down into chapters called Sura. The Sunna is the written account of what Muhammad said, did, condoned or condemned, giving Muslims the "perfect" example for living life. It is divided into two types of literature--the Hadith and the Sirat or Sirah. The Hadith is the specific recording of Muhammad's sayings. Each Hadith consists of two parts--the isnad and the matn. The isnad is essentially who said the Hadith and the matn is the sayings or actions of Muhammad. The Sirat or Sirah is the biography of Muhammad.
The basis of Islamic eschatology is found in the Qur'an's Sura 2:177, "It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces to the East and the West; but righteous is he who believeth in Allah and the Last Day and the angels and the Scripture and the prophets." You see that there are therefore five basic tenets of Islamic belief: Allah, the Last Day, Angels, the Qur'an, and the prophets. Unlike Christianity, where eschatology is rarely taught, Islam is very specific about its believers understanding what Muhammad believed about the end times. Central to the Islamic end time prophecies is the 12th Imam or the Mahdi. This is Islam's "Lord of the Age" and "Awaited Savior."
Amazing enough, the Mahdi is strikingly similar to Christianity's Beast or Antichrist. Some of the many similarities include: Ruling the world spiritually, politically and economically for seven years; Muslims identify the Mahdi as the rider of the white horse in Revelation 6:1-2; the Mahdi will war against the saints and Israel; the Mahdi declares himself the most high; the Mahdi agrees to a 7 year peace treaty with the Jews; the Mahdi seeks to change the times and the laws as prophesied in Daniel 7:23 by moving worship to Fridays and establishing Sharia Law. Yeshua said in Matthew 24:4 when asked about the end times, "Take heed that no man deceive you." The deception is actually found in how Muslims view Jesus--tomorrow's Jot.
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

President Obama's 'proud' statements on improving US image might boomerang

President Obama has said that elevating the image of the United States around the world was one of his proudest foreign policy accomplishments, but those remarks could boomerang and hamper his reelection bid.

The violence and anti-American protests throughout the Middle East are bringing fresh attacks on the president's foreign policies as Muslim rage is intensifying in the region.

The protests that have spread could undercut one of the key tenets of Obama's foreign policy argument that he has restored the U.S. image in the Middle East.

In February, Obama said, "One of the proudest things of my three years in office is helping to restore a sense of respect for America around the world, a belief that we are not just defined by the size of our military."

. . . Prior to the recent violence, polls showed that the image of the U.S. had improved overseas. But this week, protesters in Afghanistan burned Obama in effigy and cable news shows ran footage of many burning U.S. flags in various countries. (The Hill) Read more.

Yet another looming deadline on September 30 is the expiration of the main cash welfare program, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families. The last 5-year bill expired in 2010, and the program has been running on temporary extensions for the past two years. Republicans must not pass an extension without blocking President Obama's recent gutting of the welfare work requirements. This must be done either as a part of the extension or as a standalone bill.

On July 12, in one of the most egregious administrative power grabs of his tenure, President Obama's HHS issued a memo to states granting them waiver authority to jettison the welfare work requirements that served as the cornerstone of the bipartisan welfare reform in 1996. Last week, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) ruled that President Obama's waiver is subject to a resolution of disapproval from Congress under the Congressional Review Act. Pursuant to this law, President Obama must submit his rule change before Congress so they can vote on a resolution of disapproval. Congress has 60 days to act and can bring up the rule in the Senate under expedited procedures without the requirement of 60 votes to pass. Although President Obama has to sign the resolution in order to terminate his new waiver rule, there is no reason for Republicans to shy away from this fight.
Instead of growing government and passing a farm/food stamp bill and funding ObamaCare in the budget bill, Republicans in the House and Senate must wage an inexorable battle against this illegal power grab - one which happens to be woefully unpopular with the public. The House, which is completely controlled by the GOP, looks set to take up this resolution. Republican Leader Mitch McConnell can force a vote in the Senate. Republicans have 47 seats; they need just 4 Democrats to take this to President Obama's desk and force him to issue an ill-fated veto. This vote will also be a death-knell for vulnerable Democrat Senators like Claire McCaskill, Sherrod Brown, Bill Nelson, and Jon Tester. They will be forced to vote against the bill and jeopardize their careers or pass the bill and place President Obama in a no win situation.
Alternatively, or concurrently, they can simply pass a TANF extension with a rider banning President Obama from waiving the work requirements for state welfare rolls. If Senate Democrats want to block the extension in order to support gutting of welfare reform, that is a fight that all Republicans should be willing to pursue.

House GOP Passes Budget; Funds Obamacare!

House GOP Passes Budget Including Funding for Planned Parenthood, Obamacare

The Republican-majority House of Representatives on Thursday passed a $1.047 trillion bill funding the federal government through March 2013 that will permit funding for Planned Parenthood and ObamaCare-including the regulation that took effect on Aug. 1 that will require virtually all health plans in the United States to cover, without fees or co-pay, sterilizations and all FDA-approved contraceptives, including those that induce abortions.

The vote was 329-91, and the bill now goes to the Senate for expected approval next week.

The bill funds the government for six months into the new fiscal year and for almost five months after the November elections. Congress turned to the stop-gap measure after failing to pass any of the 12 appropriation bills necessary to fund day-to-day government operations.

The Catholic bishops of the United States have unanimously declared the Obamacare sterilization-contraception-abortifacient regulation an "unjust and illegal mandate" that violates the right to free exercise of religion not only of Catholic institutions but also of Catholic business owners and workers.

The bill, a continuing resolution (CR), does not prohibit funding for either ObamaCare programs or Planned Parenthood. Nor does it stop the government from enforcing regulations, such as the mandate from the Health and Human Services Department that nearly all health insurance plans provide contraceptives, sterilizations, and abortion-inducing drugs free of charge. (Restoring Liberty) Read more.
- Pray that our miracle-working GOD will do another miracle on the Senate floor when this bill comes up for a vote later this month. Ask our Lord to speak to the men and women who serve us in the United States Senate -- that they would choose LIFE and strip the fiunding of Obamacare and Planned Parenthood from this bill. Again, pray for a miracle . . . PRAY!!
- "O our God, will you not judge them? For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon you." (2 Chronicles 20:12)

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Saturday announced his intention to request an upgrade for the PA's United Nations status on September 27th. "When we go to the UN, we will say we are a state under occupation," Ma'an News Agency quoted Abbas as saying.

Speaking at a news conference in Ramallah, Abbas dismissed the United States' opposition to the UN bid: "We have 133 states who recognize a Palestinian state with east Jerusalem as its capital, in addition to dozens of other countries with whom we have good relations and diplomatic representation," he said, according to Ma'an.

Attempts to improve Palestinian standing at the United Nations last year proved fruitless due to political opposition. Abbas also criticized Israel for not ceding to Palestinian preconditions for the renewal of negotiations such as ending settlement activity. In his speech, Abbas also ruled out successful reconciliation with Hamas before elections, saying that "reconciliation is elections."

Abbas also denounced talk of a possible third Intifada, saying that he was against armed uprisings of all kinds.

"I am against armed uprisings. I am against opening fire because I know how the consequences of doing so affect our people. I am pro-peaceful popular demonstrations whether they are against the occupation or against the PA," he said. (Jerusalem Post) Read more
- O Heavenly Father, what is being said in this news article is in direct contradiction to actions experienced by the nation of Israel from this group! Help us Lord, as this request to the UN is filled with words that are opposite to Your word and Your covenant with Israel. Abba Father, raise up Your right hand and extend Your arm to protect Your people, Your land and Your covenant with them! In Jesus' Name we pray, Amen and Amen.

- "Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil." (Isaiah 5:20a)

- "The violence of the wicked will destroy them, because they refuse to do justice." (Proverbs 21:7)

(The Day of Atonement) -- THE TEN DAYS OF AWE

By John Moore, Intercessor, Houston, TX

"For Zion's sake I will not keep silent, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not keep quiet, until her righteousness goes forth like brightness, and her salvation like a torch that is burning. The nations will see your righteousness; On your walls, O Jerusalem, I have appointed watchmen; All day and all night they will never keep silent. You who remind the LORD, take no rest for yourselves; And give Him no rest until He establishes And makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth." (Isaiah 62:1-7)

The Good News Corner

For the second time in his life, Noam Gershony grabbed the headlines of all Israeli media after beating David Wagner of the United States in straights in wheelchair tennis at the Paralympic Games on Saturday [September 8]. It took the 29-year-old Israeli with the winning smile less than an hour to wrap up a 6-3, 6-1 victory against the top seed in the quad singles final. "Wow, this feeling is almost unbearable. I don't know how to describe it. I haven't realized yet that I have just won gold. It's crazy," said Gershony. "There was so much pressure to bring home the gold because I knew I could do it. I barely slept last night. I'm just happy to have made it." It was Gershony's second Paralympic medal. He and doubles partner Shraga Weinberg won the bronze in the quad doubles event last week.
Israel's leaders and top athletes, as well as the country's residents, saluted Gershony's win. "I was very excited about your victory. The State of Israel embraces you for your great achievement. You symbolize the victory of the human spirit over the difficulties created by the reality in which we live. This is gold for you and the country," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Gershony in a phone call to London. His achievement earned him the privilege of carrying the Israel flag in the closing ceremony in London.
Six years ago, Gershony topped the national news when he was critically injured during the second Lebanon War. En route to the combat zone, Gershony was involved in an Apache helicopter crash that cost the life of his co-pilot. With open wounds, loss of blood, and multiple fractures, Gershony's prognosis was not optimistic. Yet he proved that after years of therapy, operations, and rehabilitation it was not only possible to reach the Paralympics but to win a gold medal as well. "I salute you on behalf of the IDF on your exceptional determination and achievements," Chief of Staff Benny Gantz told the tennis star by telephone. "You proved that you are as good on court as you are in the sky, talented in the Apache and tennis," said President Shimon Peres. "We are very proud of you. This is the best news we could have received this weekend."
As the Paralympics officials readied the court for the medal ceremony, chants of "Noam, Noam!" grew louder and louder. Gershony wheeled himself to the top of the podium. "I'm on top of the world," he said.

When the national anthem began playing, Gershony couldn't halt his tears. "I can't put into words how it felt to hear "Hatikva" and see the [Israeli] flag at the top of the pole," Gershony, who wrapped himself in an Israeli flag, told reporters on the court. "I never thought I would have the chance to represent the country and certainly never believed that I would be able to bring it such honor."

Introducing . . . One Minute to Pray!

Tuesday, September 18 - Tuesday, November 6
9:00 p.m. EDT/8:00 p.m. CDT/7:00 p.m. MDT/6:00 p.m. PDT

Do you believe we can take God at His word? Call upon His name, then stand back and watch His wonders unfold? This scripture gives us, as Christians, ownership of this land and the ability to call upon God to heal it.

I challenge you to do that. We have never been more desperate than now for God to heal our land.

"If my people, which are called by my name shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." (2 Chronicles 7:14)

During WWII, there was an adviser to Churchill, who organized a group of people who dropped what they were doing every night at a prescribed hour for one minute, to collectively pray for the safety of England, its people and peace.
This had an amazing effect, as the bombing stopped.
There is now a group of people organizing the same thing here in America.
The United States of America , and our citizens, need prayer more than ever!!! If you would like to participate, each evening at 9:00 P.M. Eastern Time stop whatever you're doing, and spend one minute praying for our nation.

As was done in England, please pray for America, our people, and for peace. Pray, too, for God's perfect will to be done in and through the upcoming election.

And in our generation, all we have to do is set the timer on our cell phones, and "enter in" together!

Someone said if people really understood the full extent of the power we have available through prayer, we might be speechless. Our prayers are the most powerful asset we have.
"The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." (James 5:16)
Please pass this on to anyone who you think will want to join us.

God Bless You!!!
