On Capitol Hill This Week - SEPTEMBER 11th SPECIAL EDITION
September 11, 2011

Israel Blesses America on 9/11
Remarks by Deputy Foreign Minister Daniel Ayalon at the Official Memorial Ceremony held by the USA Embassy in Jerusalem Park in the Arazim Valley outside of Jerusalem. "Families of those who lost loved ones in the attacks on the United States during September 11th 2001, Ambassador of the United States to Israel, His Excellency, Daniel Shapiro, Mayor of Jerusalem, Mr. Nir Barkat, World Chairman of the Keren Kayemet L'Yisrael - Jewish National Fund , Mr. Efi Stenzler. Ambassadors, honored guests . . . friends.

The Jewish tradition views every individual as created in God's image. That is why the Jerusalem Talmud teaches that: "He who saves even one person's life, it as if he saved the entire World." September 11th, to quote former U.S. President Roosevelt is "a date which will live in infamy". Even 10 years after the horrendous terror attack, we are still shaken to our core by the enormity of this heinous and cowardly act. More than 3,000 innocent Americans and people from around the world, including Israeli citizens Alona Avraham, Leon Lebor, Shay Levinhar, Daniel Lewin, Haggai Sheffi, lost their lives in the course of an hour and a half. Thousands of families in the United States and across the globe, including Israel, suffered losses for which there is no compensation or consolation. If we reference our tradition, we can well ask; "how many worlds were destroyed on that day?"

Those who attacked America on Sept. 11th, 2001 did so not because of what America does or does not do, but because of what America is and what it represents to the entire world. This can be summed up in two words "Democracy" and "Freedom". Core values which both Israel and the United States share. Democracy enshrines the ideal of an individual's worth and equality within society. Freedom ensures that every individual possesses the basic rights of expression, conscience and physical safety. Democracy and Freedom are ideas which are the antithesis of those held by the mass murderers, who perpetrated the atrocity on September, 11th.

They sought, and their successors seek, to forcibly establish, by violence, a world which will be coercive, backward and devoid of basic dignity for the individual. A world where people will be forced to live in fear of organized and government sanctioned violence. Israel, which has unfortunately known all too well, the terrible price that terrorism inflicts upon individuals and society, stands with America in its continuing battle for Democracy and Freedom. Know that we are at you side as you defend the core values of our civilization and pursue, in righteous anger, those who would destroy our lives and our societies.

We also know that you are by our side. Yesterday, we once again witnessed that in our hour of need, America is always ready to assist the State of Israel. The Government of Israel wishes to thank Obama and all of the American officials who were involved in the bringing to safety of Israeli diplomats and their families from Cairo. These events served as just another example of the close relationship between our nations encompassing all levels.

Finally, a word about the American people. In Israel, we remember the quiet but determined courage of the American people that dark day ten years ago, and the days that followed. We remember the heroism and dedication of those serving in the emergency services that leapt into the carnage and inferno in the hope of saving lives, many of whom subsequently lost their lives in the ultimate sacrifice. Israelis recognized the greatness and exceptional-ism of the American people in the images and stories from that day. These are the images and stories of a people who will not bow to terror and violence. Israelis and Americans mourn together the loss, share the pain and collectively continue to defend the future. A future, where those who crave life and freedom will triumph over those who seek death and destruction". (Source: Embassy of Israel; Washington, D.C.)

A Former Moslem Terrorist Remembers 9/11

I still remember the morning of 9/11, the cowardly attacks on US soil by Islamists. It only took a few hours on the World Trade Center to destroy our very symbol of economics and rock the core of our souls. Ten years later, the destruction still ripples through the economy and our hearts. Businesses, consumers and our government continues to pay terrorism's fee. Nearly 3000 Americans were murdered in cold blood, all in the name of Allah for Islam. Hundreds of thousands, if not millions of Americans are still scared, injured and have been robbed. We have all been robbed of our very way of Life! Heightened security is everywhere, not in just our airports and having to deal with the TSA, but in our schools, shopping malls and even sporting events! Our world will never be the same again. . .

My heart weeps for those who lost their family, loved ones, and friends. I empathize with them; I had to lose my family, loved ones and friends for the very same reason, Islam!

As a Nation under God we must invite God Almighty to come back into our midst, back into the foundation of this Great Nation! We must make a place for Him in our hearts. Let us cry out together for the Great Awaking, for revival, fast and pray in repentance. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says: "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." The blessings and the protection of God comes by the asking, diligently seeking, knocking, and of crying out humbly.

Pastors, you are our leaders in the Church we need you to take the banner by the hand and lead! Anoint them and bless them Lord. We pray, oh God wake up the churches, shepherds and sheep. Give them the fire and the power of the Holy Spirit, Lord.

Lord, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Where We Were on September 11th

Part One: Before the Attack

On the bright and sunny Tuesday morning of September 11, 2001 in Washington, D.C.,
I was here in my office, getting ready for a monthly meeting with our local intercessors -- the five prayer captains (and friends) who stand watch in Congress every day they are in session. The time was about 9:00 a.m. Marilyn, our Tuesday prayer captain, was just arriving on the Hill, having driven in from her home in Maryland. All the other captains were getting ready to head downtown for our meeting, which was to begin at 11:00 a.m. I was still in my devotions, when the phone rang . . .

Part Two: During the Attack

It was one of our prayer partners, calling in from her home near Pennsylvania. "Turn on the TV!" she said excitedly. "A plane has just struck one of the towers of the World Trade Center in New York!" Then my husband called from his car with the same information. I thanked them both, but was determined to get into the Word and not let this be a distraction . . . knowing full well that once I turned on the TV, that would be that.

Then Linda called again. "They just hit the second tower!"
OK, I thought, I am going to go upstairs, turn on the little black-and-white TV we have in our room, iron my outfit for the day, and then head into the city for our meeting. By now it was about 9:30 a.m. I turned the TV set on, and the local anchors were talking from here, but not showing New York yet. Instead, they were just saying: "We have a report now from the Pentagon and we'll go live to (someone) to hear what's happening there." Well, the Pentagon had been hit, too, so now our city was also under attack. I thought: "That's it. I am canceling this meeting!" (The announcer then broke in to say that a plane had also crashed in rural Pennsylvania, but they did not know if that incident was related to the other attacks in New York City and in Washington, D.C.) I shut off the iron, ran downstairs, and manned the phones. . .

First I called Marilyn on her cell phone to tell her to get off the Hill, but the Capitol police had already called for all the buildings to be evacuated, so by the time I reached her, she was running down the street to get back in her car and head home. I told her we would be praying for her safety as she did so.

Then I began calling everyone else on our team to be sure they would know that our meeting was now canceled and to not go into the city, turn on their TVs, and begin to PRAY.
After I had "our part" under control, I asked the LORD if there was anything else I was to do. There was. I called a dear friend, a pastor who at that time was leading a Bible study for White House staff inside the White House complex and, amazingly, I got through to him. He updated me on the condition of the staffers he worked with there, and all had been evacuated out of the building and were standing across the street, at Lafayette Park, waiting for further instructions and gazing across the way at the smoke now coming out of the Pentagon. Some of these precious saints were barefoot . . .

After I gave him our news, we decided to pray together for the safety of the White House and the Capitol . . .

A VISION OF ANGELS

The pastor and I went into immediate prayer and asked our Lord to commission His Holy angels to keep the White House and the Capitol safe. We continued to "press in" for help for the city, which was now in chaos, and for the authorities to know what to do and who had caused these disasters.
Then, God gave me a vision:

I saw a tightly-knit band of HUGE ANGELS, shoulder-to-shoulder, standing guard all around the White House complex with swords drawn . . . all around . . . a true WALL of angels!!! When I released this vision to the pastor, he saw them, too! But God did not stop there, as I was given a second vision -- this time of Capitol Hill. And once again, I saw (or perhaps sensed) a band of huge, warring angels all around the Capitol Building . . . all around.

I knew then that God's people were praying. Praise God!

Part Three: After the Attacks

When I had finished "praying through" with the pastor, I leaned back in my chair in my office, and prayed and asked the Lord if there was anything else He wanted me to do. (Note: I had not yet seen a picture of the towers in flames!)
And immediately came the answer: "Position your people in two-hour watches for the next 24 hours, and have your team pray straight through the night for the safety of your city." And so i did . . .

The next morning, the situation was very tense (and it was becoming increasingly clear that our team would not be able to get back up on the Hill anytime soon). So, once again I prayed, and once again came the same answer: "maintain your 24 hour prayer watch, two hours at a time." I called everyone back, and they were eager to keep going.

By the third day (Thursday), we were becoming a bit fatigued, so I once again sought the Lord in prayer and, once again, came the same answer. So . . . I got a bit bold with the Lord and asked Him how long He would have us maintain this intense prayer watch. The Lord answered: "I want you to keep praying like this until the planes are once again safely flying over the nation."

Sigh . . .
Just then, the phone rang, and a wonderful team of intercessors in Maryland, who had heard of our prayer chain, offered to pick this up for us. Praise the Lord! His Grace IS sufficient! So we gratefully turned this mission over to them.

Now: Ten Years Later

We are still on the Hill, and we still meet monthly. But just after that week, our LORD began to network us with other powerful prayer teams across the nation and, together, we have formed a stream of continuous, nonstop prayer, every day of the week. These are our hidden Prayer Shields, and they are still in place today!
And, after a short while, we resumed our own watch.

Now, ten years later, there have as yet been no other attacks like those of 9/11, for which we praise God and thank ALL the intercessors for their diligent work.
Truly, it is written, "The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much!" (James 5:16)
Amen and amen and amen!

A CALL TO FAST AND TO PRAY

Sunrise to Sunset on Wednesday, Sept. 14th

All,
Tonight we are praising God with you that this weekend, America has commemorated the tenth anniversary of 9/11 wtih no terrorist attacks.

In spite of the threats that we knew of, as a nation, we are still safe tonight.

IT IS OUR SENSE, HOWEVER, THAT THE THREAT LEVEL IS NOT OVER AND THAT THERE IS A NEED FOR CONTINUED VIGILANCE IN THIS HOUR AGAINST ANOTHER JIHADIST ATTACK ON OUR SOIL.

For this reason, Capitol Hill Prayer Partners is calling our friends to prayerfully consider setting aside time this Wednesday, September 14th, to fast and to pray for issues of national security.
We are also lifting up specific prayer in advance of the possible vote at the United Nations on Sept. 20th, unilaterally declaring Palestine as a sovereign state.

PRAYER TARGETS:

1. Pray PSALM 91 over our nation. Lift up the names of specific cities as you pray, and as our Lord directs.

2. The State Department has issued a statement that, should a vote at the U.N. (described above) actually take place, the United States will VETO that move.

PRAY THAT OBAMA STICKS TO HIS WORD, and will not "cave in" to pressure from Islamic cult leaders.
"Simply let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one." (Matthew 5:37) 3)

Finally, please pray for each other . . . that each intercessor be flooded with the JOY of the Lord, which is our strength, and would be equipped to STAND in the days ahead.
"(He will be . . . ) a strength to to them that turn the battle to the gate." (Isaiah 28:6)
