The Daily Brief - Friday, September 16, 2011

"The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever." (Revelation 11:15b)

The Daily Brief

1. a) US Economy Goes From Bad to Worse: Economist - CNBC

The US economy is going from bad to worse and will not fully recover until structural problems caused by the collapse of the housing market and the financial crisis are resolved, according to Capital Economics.

b) Jobless Claims, Inflation Rise, Manufacturing Gets Weaker - CNBC

Jobless Applications for unemployment benefits continued to rise in the past week, while inflation pushed higher and a key manufacturing index weakened. The weekly jobless claims number, which is closely watched as an indicator for employment trends, unexpectedly rose 11,000 to 428,000, well ahead of estimates of 411,000.

c) Mortgage default warnings surged in August - AP

Banks have stepped up their actions against homeowners who have fallen behind on their mortgage payments, setting the stage for a fresh wave of foreclosures. The number of U.S. homes that received an initial default notice -- the first step in the foreclosure process -- jumped 33 percent in August from July, foreclosure listing firm RealtyTrac Inc. said Thursday.

- Father, we thank You, that You are the Giver of all good things, and that You have promised to meet our needs. As we watch the economy collapse, and the "fortunes" of the rich disappearing, we pray they will come to realize the "true riches" found only in You . . . and they would turn to You as their Source. We pray that those who are jobless, and unable to pay their mortgages, will be comforted by You, and that You would show Yourself strong on their behalf. Show them favor, and give them creative ideas to implement, so they can feed their families. We thank You for hearing and answering our prayers! Amen

- "Now therefore, our God, the great God, mighty and awesome, who keeps his covenant of love, do not let all this hardship seem trifling in Your eyes-the hardship that has come on us; We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you." (Neh 9:32a; IIChron. 20:12b)

2. European banks face major reckoning - Wash. Post

European banks are facing a reckoning over hundreds of billions of dollars in loans extended to the continent's cash-strapped governments with potential losses so large, if countries default, that some financial firms could be put out of business.

- Father as the world comes face up with its usury and greed, the tower of sin is about to collapse. We ask for Your mercy over all who love You in the midst of these troubling times, and for you mercy over those who do not know You.

- "O Lord, revive Your work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy." (Habakkuk 3:26)

3. Dangerous TB spreading at alarming rate in Europe - WHO - Reuters

Multidrug-resistant and extensively drug-resistant forms of tuberculosis (TB) are spreading at an alarming rate in Europe and will kill thousands unless health authorities halt the pandemic, the World Health Organization(WHO) said on Wednesday.

- Lord, we bind the progress of this pestilence and command it to stop in the Name of Jesus. We apply the Cross of Christ and His Blood to every corner of the earth where this drug resistant strain of TB resides.

- "You shall not be afraid of the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flies by day; nor for the pestilence that walks in darkness; nor for the destruction that wastes at noonday" Psalm 91:5-6)

4. DHS Announces New Security Policy for Children Under 12 - Fox News

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano says the government will be rolling out a different airport pat-down policy for children under 12 in the coming months, and these children will no longer have to take off their shoes to be screened.

- Lord we are grateful that DHS is finally beginning to treat children with sensitivity. We pray that no terrorist group will try to take advantage of this situation.

- "For I will contend with those who contend with you, and I will save your children." (Isaiah 48:25b)

5. Russia Delays Manned Space Launch - Fox News

With no space shuttles to take astronauts to the International Space Station, the U.S. relies upon Russian rockets. But amid deep concerns over a recent rocket crash, Russia on Tuesday announced it was postponing the launch of the latest space station crew to Nov. 12 -- mere days before the final astronauts on the orbiting laboratory are due to return to Earth. That makes the potential for an unmanned International Space Station very real -- and NASA could have seen it coming, said Christopher C. Kraft, the former director of NASA's Manned Spaceflight Center. Read more.

- Lord we pray for the current crew aboard the space station, that they will not only be safe from any malfunctions or collisions, but encouraged and fully provisioned. We erect a hedge of protection around the station, so that all procedures and exchanges go smoothly.

- "Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the Name of the Lord our God." (Psalm 20:7)

The Middle East in Focus

"Hear my cry, O God; Attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I call unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For thou hast been a refuge for me, A strong tower from the enemy. I will dwell in thy tabernacle for ever: I will take refuge in the covert of thy wings." (Psalm 61:1-4)

- "Abba, we know that Israel is the "apple of Your eye" and we stand united with her, as Your people! We pray You will surround her with a hedge of Your protection, angels with flaming swords, scattering her enemies. Put Your tallit over her and protect her in Yeshua's Name! Amen, and Amen.

- "The LORD will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways." (Deut. 28:7)

The Daily Jot

Look at what we have become; what shall become of us?

The Federal Reserve has joined the Bank of England, the European Central Bank, the Swiss National Bank and the bank of Japan to flood money markets with dollars over the coming months to stimulate the European economy. US and world stock markets have been on the wane ostensibly because of the European debt crisis. The smart men and women running the American banking system have one answer--print more money, create more debt. In doing so, Americans should brace for runaway inflation, more debt related problems and an economy in America that will resemble a great recession, if not a depression.

My dad always used to say, "You get what you pay for." This is so true. Right now, the White House is encouraging the spending of dollars, the creating of debt, and the bail out of Europe's economy, while our own economy is in a tailspin. We did not hire our president to be the world's banker, but your hard earned tax money is being invested in bad business. If you pay for debt, you will get debt. My dad also used to say, "If you dance all night, you have to pay the fiddler in the morning." Here again, the American government is spending your money so fast and furious that there is none left to pay the debt. Then you will be enslaved by a government that is supposed to serve you.

Take an inventory of what all the debt is buying us. First and foremost, every man, woman and child in the United States (except illegal immigrants) owe the government over $46,000 for its debt. People continue losing their jobs. Unemployment claims rose another 11,000 last week, far greater than the government expected. And while people are losing their jobs, or can't find work, food prices made their biggest increase since March, and gas at the pumps went up 1.2 percent. Clothing prices also jump a percent. Home foreclosure notices increased 33% in August over July. Government management of the economy and its unbridled spending is causing all of this.

But what is the root cause? In my opinion, the root cause is the massive exodus of Americans from the ways of God. Deuteronomy 28:1 says, "And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth" Verse 15 says, however, that if God's people do not obey the Lord, "all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee." Even in many of our churches, the word of God is not being taught. How can we expect blessings when our actions as a nation bring curses? Look at what we have become. What shall become of us?

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

The Palestinian UN Agenda

Abbas to Ask UN Security Council for Statehood on Sept 23 by Chana Ya'ar

The Palestinian Authority has announced it will submit its application to the United Nations Security Council to appeal for recognition as a new country and attain acceptance in the body.

PA Foreign Minister Riad al-Malki announced Thursday that the entity plans to submit its bid for full U.N. membership with the Council on Friday, September 23. The announcement ended speculation that Abbas would consider alternate plans forwarded by various diplomats who had frantically tried to dissuade the PA from pursuing a unilateral course via the U.N.

Nevertheless, a parade of envoys from the United States, the European Union and the Quartet of Nations (comprised of the U.S., Russia, the EU and the U.N.) are still engaged in trying to persuade the PA to return to the negotiating table with Israel.

"We will see if any of them is carrying a credible offer that will allow us to look into it seriously," al-Maliki told reporters in Ramallah. "Otherwise, on the 23rd at 12:30 p.m. [Abbas] will submit the application."

The United States, a permanent member of the Council, has already announced that it will exercise its veto to block the move. Read more.

A former head of Saudi Arabian intelligence and ex-ambassador to Washington, Turki al-Faisal said: ''The United States must support the Palestinian bid for statehood at the United Nations this month or risk losing the little credibility it has in the Arab world. If it does not, American influence will decline further, Israeli security will be undermined and Iran will be empowered, increasing the chances of another war in the region,'' Mr Faisal says.

''Moreover, Saudi Arabia would no longer be able to co-operate with America in the same way it historically has. With most of the Arab world in upheaval, the 'special relationship' between Saudi Arabia and the United States would increasingly be seen as toxic by the vast majority of Arabs and Muslims, who demand justice for the Palestinian people.'' He adds: ''Saudi leaders would be forced by domestic and regional pressures to adopt a far more independent and assertive foreign policy.''
''American support for Palestinian statehood is therefore crucial, and a veto will have profound negative consequences. In addition to causing substantial damage to American-Saudi relations and provoking uproar among Muslims worldwide, the United States would further undermine its relations with the Muslim world, empower Iran and threaten regional stability.''

- God says: "I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem. On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves. . . Then the clans of Judah will say in their hearts, 'The people of Jerusalem are strong, because the LORD Almighty is their God.' "On that day I will make the clans of Judah like a firepot in a woodpile, like a flaming torch among sheaves. They will consume all the surrounding peoples right and left, but Jerusalem will remain intact in her place." (Zechariah 12:2-6)
The Jerusalem Connection says: It appears God is setting the stage for the fulfillment of Zechariah's prophecy. Humanly speaking the Palestinians' unilateral attempt at acquiring statehood is a geopolitical train wreck waiting to happen. More to the point however, it is an act of blatant defiance against the God of Israel and his covenant promise for a homeland for the Jewish people. Hopefully it will serve as a wake up call causing us to recognize that we really don't have any friends in the Muslim world.

There are some unprecedented catastrophes that must take place before the kingdom of God comes on earth as it is heaven. May those events be accelerated so that "the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end."(Isaiah 9:6-7)

Understanding UN bias against Israel

The United Nations has made the democratic State of Israel the target of incessant condemnation while neglecting its mandate in challenging the oppressive regimes around the world.

The following film clip uncovers the factors behind the UN's bias against Israel. We encourage you to view the clip, forward to friends, and partner with us to counter the hypocrisy and expose the truth.
Join us September 21, 2011 in holding the United Nations accountable for its actions at a pro-Israel demonstration as the UN launches its third World Conference against Racism (Durban III). Is revolution hitting U.S. streets tomorrow?

Protesters training to incite violence, resist arrest, disrupt the legal system

Fight "market dictatorship"

"People of the world rise up!"

"We are legion."

"Take to the streets."

These and other battle cries were posted on the recent Twitter feed of a group calling itself Take The Square. The organization is one of the social media planners behind the "Day of Rage" protest slated to target Wall Street on Saturday.

WND previously reported how the U.S. section of the protest, complete with a planned tent city in downtown Manhattan, is closely tied to the founders of ACORN and leaders of major U.S. unions, including the Service Employees International Union, or SEIU.

While protest leaders claim they are non-violent, there are indications the protesters are training to incite violence, resist arrest and disrupt the legal system. The protest aims to take root nationwide.

Activists are advertising on social network sites such as Facebook and Twitter for a "Day of Rage" on Sept. 17 to begin with the "occupation" of Wall Street and continue with protests across the nation.

Planners have their own website - USDayofRage.org - which tells protesters to "bring your own tent."

The website is not specific about the purpose of the "Day of Rage" other than calling for "integrity" to be "restored to our elections."

The site accuses corporations of using "money to act as the voices of millions, while individual citizens, the legitimate voters, are silenced and demoralized by the farce."

Advertisements claim the protests at Wall Street and nationwide will be "non-violent." However, the official website provides resources, including videos and detailed written instructions, for protesters to engage in "civil disobedience."

DECREE WITH US THAT NO WEAPON THAT IS FORGED AGAINST OUR COUNTRY WILL PROSPER. ASK OUR LORD DISPATCH HIS HEAVENLY HOST, IN HIS MERCY, TO DISMANTLE THE PLANS OF THE WICKED. . . . WE ARE A NATION UNDER LAW, NOT UNDER RIOTS. . .

ASK HIM TOO TO FORGIVE OUR ENEMIES, FOR THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY DO. MAY EACH ONE INSTEAD FIND THE PEACE OF GOD WHEN WE HAVE RECEIVED CHRIST INTO OUR HEARTS AS OUR SAVIOR AND LORD. AMEN.

"Let God arise, let His enemies be scattered, And let those who hate Him flee before Him." (Psalm 68:1)

The Young Pro-Life Nurse Who Took On a Pro-Abortion University-and Won

"At the end of the day you have to stand up for what is most important to you."

(Nashville, TN)-As long as she can remember, Anne Marie Dust has cared deeply about human life-every human life. She remembers as a young woman participating in Life Chain, and says that her parents' open-to-life attitude was a fundamental inspiration to her.

Anne Marie eventually came to believe that nursing was where she belonged, especially in the field of women's health. "To be a nurse is to care incredibly for other people, to care deeply for them, to care for what is best for them. You use your heart and you use your hands. That's it, at its core," says Anne-Marie in a video of her story, prepared by the Alliance Defense Fund.

To follow her dream, Anne Marie applied at the end of her 2010 senior year of college to the Nurse Residency Program at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Her goal was to pursue a career providing care to pregnant women and their pre-born children.

Not only was Anne Marie pre-qualified to apply to Vanderbilt's nurse residency program, but she was a stellar applicant with excellent grades.

But as she pored over the application, she was shocked to discover that Vanderbilt required her to certify in writing that she would agree to participate in abortions.

The application stated that if "you feel you cannot provide care to women during this type of event, we encourage you to apply to a different track of the Nurse Residency Program."

"If abortions were a requirement, then there was no point in completing the application," Anne Marie told LifeSiteNews.com. For the aspiring nurse it was clear that the whole point of being a nurse is that you "care for people."

[In the end, Anne Marie brought her case to the Alliance Defense Fund and together with them, she won the right to opt out of abortion-related activity during her university instruction.]

[In fact, it only took 26 hours for the university to rescind the requirement to participate in abortions. According to the LifeSiteNews report, a letter was issued that stated: "no health care provider is required to participate in a procedure terminating a pregnancy if such participation would be contrary to an individual's religious beliefs or moral convictions."] (Source: LifeSiteNews.com)
