VETERANS DAY

"And they will fight, for the LORD will be with them." (Zechariah 10: 5)

Today is Veteran's Day, and Capitol Hill Prayer Partners wishes to honor all who have served in our military. Thank you for the sacrifices you have made for our country.

Thank you, too, goes to the families of these men and women in uniform -- especially to those who have been called to pay the supreme sacrifice.

May God bless you all.

Today's Daily Brief

1. Key oil figures were distorted by US pressure, says whistleblower - UK Guardian

The world is much closer to running out of oil than official estimates admit, according to a whistleblower at the International Energy Agency who claims it has been deliberately underplaying a looming shortage for fear of triggering panic buying.

- God, You are a miracle-working God and well able to supply the entire world with sufficient oil for all our needs. Your hand is not shortened and we call forth Your truth to be known regarding this major concern, and that the reports of man not vacillate from good to bad, which only brings confusion. Scatter the words of the people who propagandize what is the true situation. In Jesus Name.

- "Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither His ear heavy, that it cannot hear." (Isaiah 59:1)

2. Judge Rules S.C. Not Allowed to Issue License Plates With Cross - Fox News

A federal judge ruled Tuesday that South Carolina can't issue license plates showing the image of a cross in front of a stained glass window along with the phrase "I Believe."

- Father, we ask that You raise up the Cross of Jesus in other places in South Carolina and be widespread across the State, and by the blood of Jesus break the power of the forces of darkness that ruled against this issue. Let God's will prevail. In Jesus Name.

- "It is God that sits upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretches out the heavens as a curtain, and spreads them out as a tent to dwell in: (It is God) That brings the princes to nothing: He makes the judges of the earth as vanity." (Isaiah 40:22-23)

3. 'Fuzzy math' could drive health bill cost higher - Washington Times

The official $1.1 trillion price tag for the House Democrats' health care bill excludes dozens of unfunded programs that could drive up costs when future congresses look to fund them.

- God, You are fully knowledgeable of all the ramifications in this health care bill that have been downplayed since its inception. Day by day it becomes more evident that this bill equates to quicksand that will pull this country down to destruction. But God. So Father, we stand atop the highest mountain and declare that Your hand and Your Name still rules over America. We also declare that neither this bill, nor any like it, has the power to affect God's reign over our health care system. We ask You to cause this bill to wither on the vine, and in the end, to be defeated. In Jesus Name.

- "The grass withers, the flower fades: but the Word of our God shall stand forever." (Isaiah 40:8)

4. Key Senate Democrat Hints Health Care Debate May Stall Into Next Year - Fox News

The combination of divided Democrats, and Republicans determined to force delays under the Senate's arcane rules, is making it less likely that President Obama will get a health care bill this year.

- God, it is said in Your Word that men sought to build a city and a tower, "whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name." But then it says, "And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the men built." God, just as You scattered them abroad from their building, that they could no longer build, do likewise with this health care bill. Restrain them, confuse and confound their language that they may not understand one another's speech. In Jesus Name.

- "Therefore is the name of [this health care bill] called Babel; because the Lord did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth." (Genesis 11:9)

5. After Fort Hood Shooting, Some Reluctant to Cite Suspect's Muslim Faith - Fox News

As evidence mounted that Hasan's Muslim faith at least partly motivated the shooting, many commentators in the mainstream media pointed to other potential motivations and downplayed religious factors.

- God, we ask that You remove any cloud of lies that would discharge this man from being held responsible for the deaths and injuries of our military. We ask that Your presence come down and that Your justice be carried out. We plead the blood of Jesus over all this and let none escape the jurisdiction of the sovereign power of God. In Jesus Name.

- "The earth shook, the heavens also dropped at the presence of God." (Psalm 68:8) "A false balance is abomination to the Lord: but a just weight is His delight." (Proverbs 11:1)

6. Car Bomb Explodes Near Crowded Pakistani Market Killing 24 - Fox News

A car bomb exploded outside a crowded market in northwestern Pakistan on Tuesday, killing at least 24 people in the latest attack by suspected militants apparently aimed at avenging an army offensive along the Afghan border.

- Father, we ask that You spread out Your arms over Afghanistan and protect that country from militant attacks. By the blood of Jesus, we ask that You protect the people and the military from the evil which lurks around every corner. Break up the forces that are bent on destruction and withhold their ability to carry out their plans to kill. In Jesus Name.

- "Turn O God unto me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolate and afflicted." (Psalm 25:16)

7. Huge bomb-making operation found in Afghanistan - UPI

U.S. and Afghan forces found huge amounts of ammonium nitrate in Kandahar, enough to make thousands of bombs used in killing coalition forces, officials said.

- God, it is You who routs out the enemy's weapons and reveals the location of their destructive bomb-making operation. We give thanks to our God who oversees all things and protects us from the grasp of these hostile forces and keeps our military alert and guided by the knowledge of hidden agendas. In Jesus Name.

- "For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the Lord upholds the righteous." (Psalm 37:17)

America Honors Its Veterans

All across the country today, Veterans Day observances will be held to honor those lost defending our freedoms.

Jerry Newberry, communications director with the Veterans of Foreign Wars, served in Vietnam and appreciates those who gave their lives.

"These are truly American heroes," he said, "people who have fought, who have landed at the beaches of Normandy, who fought their way through the Pacific."

The shooting last week at Ft. Hood, Texas, was a reminder of the dangers our men and women in the armed forces face each day -- whether at home, or abroad.

Retired Air Force Col. Bill Spencer said those killed in the attack deserve our admiration.

"Even though they weren't in combat, they remain heroes," he said. "Their sacrifice is no less honorable." (CitizenLink)
