The Daily Brief - Wednesday, August 26, 2009

I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David. (Isaiah 55:13)

The Daily Brief

1. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy Dies at 77 - CNSNews.com

Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, the liberal lion of the Senate and haunted bearer of the Camelot torch after two of his brothers fell to assassins' bullets, has died at his home in Hyannis Port after battling a brain tumor. He was 77.

- Pray that our Lord would comfort those who are mourning the death of this senator. Pray that each one be convicted that this life is but temporary. Are we ready to face our Maker?

- "Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted." (Matthew 5:4)

2. Kennedy Successor to Be Chosen by Special Election - AP

Unlike most states, Massachusetts will choose a successor to Sen. Edward M. Kennedy through a special election, not by gubernatorial appointment. Massachusetts law requires a special election for the seat no sooner than 145 days and no later than 160 days after a vacancy occurs. The law bans an interim appointee.

- Offer praise to the Lord that the State of Massachusetts has a law in place, should a vacancy occur in the Senate. Pray for wisdom for the voters of Massachusetts as they prepare to weigh the possible choices in this upcoming election. Pray!

- "The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." (James 5:16)

3. Four Men Are Front-Runners to Occupy Kennedy's Senate Seat - AP

Sen. Ted Kennedy's death triggers race for his seat, with former Mass. Govs. Mitt Romney, William Weld, former Chief of Staff Andrew Card and businessman Jeff Beatty in the running.

- It is way too early to tell how this race may ultimately take shape. Pray for wisdom for all in authority, every step of the way, so that the one of God's choosing will, in time, take this vacant seat in the United States Senate.

- "If any of you lack wisdom, let him pray to the Father . . ." (James 1:5)

4. Probe of CIA Imperils Interagency Trust - Fox News

CIA officers that were involved in the interrogations "wrote a joint rebuttal and they believe it was ignored deliberately by [Justice] for political reasons," one former CIA official said.

- In a time of terrorist threats, this interrogation by Attorney General Eric Holder needs to be a matter of prayer. Pray that the Lord will expose any hidden agendas of these plans by the Attorney General. We all abhor torture, but revealing American military maneuvers to the terrorists indicates a lack of common sense. Pray for protection of our military and for our CIA agents.

- "Then she said to the king: "It was a true report which I heard in my own land about your words and your wisdom." (1Kings 10:6)

5. Deficit fears put Obama's reforms in jeopardy - Financial Times

Tuesday's sharply upgraded forecasts for growth in US national debt over the next decade could hardly have come at a worse time for Barack Obama. Shortly after he was elected last November, the president let it be known he preferred the "big bang" approach to domestic reforms.

- Pray that the "big bang" theory of the president's thinking is clarified. Ask the Lord to intervene in Obama's domestic reforms so that our Constitution, which the Lord gave our founders, is not violated.

- ". . . and be renewed in the spirit of your mind . . ." (Ephesians 4:23)

6. Mass trial of opposition protesters resumes in Iran - Jerusalem Post

Iran on Tuesday resumed the mass trial of opposition activists and protesters charged with rioting and plotting to topple the ruling Islamic system through a "velvet revolution" following the country's disputed presidential election.

- Pray for Godly protection of the protesters in Iran who were arrested by the government there.

- "And David said to his son Solomon, "Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God--my God--will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord." (1 Chronicles 28:20)

7. U.N. Agency Calls for Teaching Children 5-to-8 Years of Age about Masturbation - CNS News

A June report from the United Nations Economic, Social and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) suggests children of all countries and cultures are entitled to sexual and reproductive education beginning at age five.

- Bind the spirits that are causing this sickness in the minds of people who write for UNESCO. This attempt is to promote animal-like behavior in children so that children cannot grow in the wisdom and discipline of the Lord. If children are busy fulfilling self-gratification, then they will not notice that all their freedoms have been taken from them.

- "Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it." (Proverbs 22:6)

The Middle East in Focus

This week, for all the headlines cited below, please join us in proclaiming THIS DECREE:

No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of LORD, and their righteousness is of Me, says LORD. (Isaiah 54:17)

1. U.S. mulls Peres plan for Palestinian state with interim borders - Ha'aretz

The American administration is said to be studying President Shimon Peres' plan for the establishment in the near future of a Palestinian state with temporary borders, with guarantees and a timetable for a permanent agreement that will include solutions on all core issues.

2. Report: Israel to freeze settlements in exchange for tougher Iran sanctions - Ha'aretz

U.S. President Barack Obama is close to breaking the stalemate between Israel and the Palestinians by getting Israel to agree to a partial settlement freeze in exchange for a tougher U.S. stand against Iran's nuclear program, the British Guardian reported.

3. Israel's Intelligence Chief on Iran, Settlements, & Peace Prospects - ABC News

In an interview with SPIEGEL, Israeli Deputy Prime Minister and Intelligence Minister Dan Meridor, 62, speaks about Prime Minister Netanyahu's upcoming visit to Berlin, the chances for a new peace process in the Middle East and why the world can't let Iran get its hands on nuclear weapons.

The Disguise and Perversion of Change Leading to Destruction

The White House continues to destroy the financial infrastructure of the nation passing off one dismal event after another as some fate stricken announcement out of the hands of human ability. When in reality, the public relations approach to the War against Americans is to make everything look "matter of fact" and as if it were anticipated rather than planned. But when usurpers intend to destroy a country while keeping its basic infrastructure intact, they will try to keep the people as calm as they can for as long as they can. Hitler was one of the best at this, even forcing Jewish musicians to play while sending millions to their death.

The latest is the "state-influenced" media's coverage of White House announcements that the unemployment rate will hit ten percent and the budget deficit will reach over $1.5 trillion. In the Administration's mid-year economic review, the White House Office of Management and Budget said that the gross national product will shrink 2.8 percent this year. The review then lessens the blow in the words it uses: "While the danger of the economy immediately falling into a deep recession has receded, the American economy is still in the midst of a serious economic downturn." This public relations tactic is similar to Iran saying that its nuclear ambitions are peaceful, while at the same time developing nuclear weapons.

When the people rose up, as they did in the town hall meetings, this Administration sent the public relations message that it is backing off mandatory government health insurance. Then when the citizens breathed a collective sigh of relief, the White House says it never meant that it didn't want a public option. This technique gives the headlines on one day that the government is listening. Once that headline is made, people go back to their normal life thinking they have won. In reality, the next headline reversing the position is not so big and not carried so far and people are not then engaged. This is a tried and true tactic used by media strategists to "refocus" debate.

There should be no doubt to any discerning heart that the White House strategy is to destroy the free market system, and make people believe that the only way they can be saved is through the benevolence of the government. Running the economy aground through astronomical deficits, taking control of primary national industries, and having final authority over personal health will complete this unconstitutional, unbiblical and immoral socialist coup that started as a call for change. Proverbs 24:21 says, "My son, fear thou the Lord and the king: and intermix not with them that are given to change." Change here means disguise or pervert. Maybe that's what the White House means, too.

Prayer For Wednesday 26 August, Ramadan 2009

"Loving Muslims Through Prayer"
Abdullah and Amina, Mohammed's Parents

Relatively little is known of the lives of Mohammed's parents. The father of Mohammed, Abdullah, lived from AD 545-570. His full name was Abd Allah ibn Abd al Muttalib. Allah is the word for "God" in Arabic. Abd Allah means "servant or slave of God." Abdullah died six months before Mohammed was born. It is not known when Amina, the mother of Mohammed, was born. Her name means "trustworthy or faithful." It is said that Amina, took Mohammed to visit his maternal uncles of the an-Najjar tribe, in Medina. On her way back to Mecca, she died when Mohammed was just six years old, leaving him an orphan. Mohammed went to live with his grandfather and then with an uncle.

Prayer Starters:

- Pray for the millions of living Abdullahs and Aminas around the world, that they would discover the the Messiah.

- Pray that the Abdullahs could discover real freedom as servants of God's anointed King, Jesus.

- Pray for each woman named Amina, that she might discover that Jesus is the most trustworthy one.

- As you pray with your family today, remember to pray for and bless the whole family.
